when I was 16, two forms of media consumed my entire life: 1989 by taylor swift and gone with the wind by margaret mitchell.
parallels between rhett and scarlet's relationship and the song wonderland where constantly inside my head. to this day, to me, this song belongs to them.
“You held on tight to me, 'cause nothing's as it seems.”
“Didn't they tell us don't rush into things? Didn't you flash your green eyes at me? Haven't you heard what becomes of curious minds?”
“Didn't it all seem new and exciting? I felt your arms twisting around me. I should've slept with one eye open at night.”
“But there were strangers watching and whispers turned to talking, and talking turned to screams”
“It's all fun and games 'til somebody loses their mind.”
“I reached for you but you were gone, I knew I had to go back home. You search the world for something else to make you feel like what we had and in the end, in Wonderland, we both went mad.”

last week's Yashiro Nene from Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun and this week's Salvia/Scarlet from Wedding Peach
Never really realized how much Scarlet looked like Usagi. But at the stage where I had drawn her face, bangs and side-hair-swirlies I was like "Wait a second!" On the same note, Nene kinda ended up looking like Tohru from Fruits Basket for some reason, wtf am I even doing.
Man, working traditionally again really is a struggle. Been so spoiled by having layers and being able to re-size and move... these remind me of how my pencil drawings from 20 years ago would turn out. I'd say these two have 50% chance to get lineart and 1% chance of that happening traditionally given how warped certain aspects are.
I really didn't do myself a favour by trying to draw poses. Nene was gonna have her hands making a heart shape, but that didn't work out at all because... well... hands. Thus I made her hold those pink rabbit creatures instead (too lazy to look up their name). Now her lower arm is way too long compared to her upper arm just in order to make it fit on the page. OTL
And Salvia... yeah, that wasn't even gonna be her for a whole while. Was gonna draw Lio from Promare this week, but could not get the pose I wanted to work, so I changed it around until I got something completely different after about an hour. Then I had to think who to make out of that new pose and spent about another hour thinking and googling who'd make sense with that body language and whose hair wouldn't go out of frame. Ended up settling for either Rem or Komi-san due to their straight hair and demeanor and went to bed. After even more back and forth I changed things yet again and went for Salvia who was probably among the characters I'd draw this year anyway.
Was debating what outfit to pick and decided it'd have to be the DX outfit because I don't really like her wedding dress design and I was not gonna draw the "Something New" with all those details.
