the black guillemot is a medium-sized seabird distributed throughout arctic regions of the atlantic. they are distinguishable by their feet, bills, and the inside of their mouths, all of which are a bright coral red. there is no visible difference between the sexes. in the summer, this guillemot is almost entirely solid black. in the winter, they display a mottled gray-white pattern, as do juveniles. they feed on fish, crustaceans, eels, and other aquatic food sources. they feed by diving below the surface to snatch their prey and/or collect plant material as food. they nest in rocky crevices and outcroppings of cliffs. the guillemot is a social bird and is often found in large colonies.

Adorable high-end maiko haneri collar, with the cutest embroidered birdies. OP describes them as tsuru (cranes). I personnally see seabirds/gulls chilling on calm waters - which would match the summer weave of the fabric :)
Shop has others high-end maiko haneri, with intricate embroidery work:

You know my color choice in fashion is im-PECK-able.
Short-tailed Albatross (Phoebastria albatrus)
North Pacific Ocean regions
Status: Vulnerable
Threats: hunted for feathers and presumed extinct in the 1940s until around 50 birds returned from sea.
Nobody knows where these guys were hiding during WW2 but somehow survivors showed up again on their breeding island of Tori-shima over a decade later.

Here’s Arden (They/Them)! One of the main characters of my headworld Avian Engine that I’ve been doing revamps on since the start of last year. They are based on one of my favorite seabirds the grey-headed albatross and are a seavian racer. They also have a creature form that i will post more of :]

Branching out a bit more into the Cenozoic featuring Pelagornis, possibly the largest flying bird. Always been a huge fan of it's unique beak.

Wonderful seaside scenery for this antique kimono depicting seabirds (kamome/gulls?) by the water, with hazy fishing boats woven in silvery threads
