moving from canada to the united states was it’s own culture shock, but moving from the small hometown of carbonear, newfoundland to hoboken, new jersey?? a whole new ball game. sadie mercer knew what she was getting herself into moving into a city in another country, and she was so grateful she wasn’t alone, and had her brother, dawson, to rely on when they’re so far away from their family. a 33 hour car ride to be exact, and dawson would keep reminding her as they waited for their uber to take them from the newark airport to their hotel in hoboken.
“what if i dont make the roster, sade? i can’t just leave you in new jersey and go back to the q.” sadie frowned.
“dawson, you are literally an amazing hockey player. and the devils would be stupid to not put you straight on their roster.” dawson smiled gently at his younger sister.
“you’re always so optimistic.” sadie rolled her eyes and went back to scrolling through her instagram feed.
soon enough the uber pulled up to the airport and the pair hopped in. the 25 minute ride over to their hotel was spent in comfortable silence, but sadie knew her brother was stressing. after all, their entire plan in new jersey was based on dawson making the roster so they could live together since sadie was attending rutgers university. of course they knew that there was a chance that wouldn’t happen, but they were hoping and praying dawson would make it through camp and onto the roster.
the uber dropped them off at their hotel, and they headed in to get to their room. their apartment lease wasn’t going to start until september 1st, but since that was the same day she was starting classes, they were in new jersey a week in advance. the 2 bed hotel room looked comfortable with a gorgeous view, and the two instantly laid back onto the beds with no want to plan to unpack anything. dawson only had a duffel bag and a backpack, while sadie had a suitcase and her school backpack. the rest of their stuff is supposed to be mailed in when they move into the apartment.
“dude i’m so hungry, those pretzels on the plan were shit.” dawson complained.
“i think there’s a dunkin like two blocks down, or we could go out to eat but i don’t know what’s open at 10pm.” dawson groaned and looked over at his sister,
“dunkin it is.” sadie lightly laughed at her brother’s dramatics, but she was starving as well so she slipped her birkenstocks back on and grabbed one of the keycards.
it felt so surreal to walk through the city, even if it was 3 blocks to a dunkin donuts, it was so drastically different to their canadian small town. when the siblings arrived at their lovely destination, they were happy to see that the dunkin was in fact still open, even at 10:23pm.
dawson got an iced tea with a panini and a boston creme donut, while sadie got herself a refresher, a bagel, and a small munchkin box.
the siblings sat at one of the tables towards the corner of the store and instantly started eating. after about 10 minutes of silence and eating, dawson got up to throw away his trash and sadie followed.
the pair walked down the street peacefully and enjoyed the late august breeze. sadie snapped a picture of the roads and sent it to the ‘mercer sibling groupchat’ on snapchat.
jessica was the first to open the snap and quickly responded with a picture of herself in her bed holding a thumbs down. sadie felt bad that she was leaving her sister all alone at home for her sophomore year of high school, but she was happy she got to send jess off for her freshman year since sadie was taking her classes online. riley opened it about 2 minutes later and sent back some funny filter, causing all 4 siblings to start sending funny photos.
once sadie and dawson got back to their hotel, dawson decided to take a shower first, leaving sadie to have to unpack atleast some of her things. about 10 minutes later, dawson came out of the bathroom with a pair of shorts and t-shirt on and began rummaging through his poorly packed bag for his toothbrush. sadie on the other hand, took this as her opportunity to take the bathroom over and grabbed her toiletry bag with her pjs and ran in.
“i wasn’t done in there!” dawson yelled through the now closed and locked bathroom door.
“i can’t hear you! i’m showering!” sadie yelled back as she twisted the shower knobs and got in.
once sadie was finally done with her shower, brushed her hair and her teeth, and did her extensive skincare routine, she opened the door and smiled at her brother as she passed his bed.
“finally..” he groaned and got up, with his found toothbrush in hand.
for the next couple days, sadie and dawson spent their days out in hoboken and newark to get used to the city. dawson, of course, couldn't let the week be a full rest week and started attending a gym nearby, and occasionally dragging sadie with him, resulting in being forced to make tiktoks with her as payment.
soon enough, september 1st rolled around and sadie was beginning her classes and preparation for preseason which was starting the following monday. her schedule was set up nicely by one of the athletic’s guidance counselors, so she only had class once on monday and wednesday, twice on tuesday and thursday. luckily, they were also all at or after 11am. sadie also was lucky to have some classes with some of her teammates so it was easier for her to become friends with them.
liza ryndych and sofia maksimova were also rookies this year, but they were freshmen. sadie, liza, and sofia became a trio during practice as they all were fly/free strokes, and that translated to outside of the pool.
the beginning of september blew by and devils camp was approaching sooner and sooner. sadie was happy to make friends and be in new jersey living out her dream, but each time she came home to her and her brother’s hotel room, the idea of dawson not making roster became more and more prominent.
it was september 20th, only two days before camp was to start and sadie only had her elective class at 1:30pm. sadie was running late to practice this morning, so she didn’t get the chance to grab herself breakfast. once practice finished at the aquatic center, sadie was starving. on her way back, her and her ‘big’ sofia chichaikina decide to stop by one of the delis in hoboken.
sofia parks her car a little farther up the street from the deli since all the parking spaces right in front of the small shop were taken.
the girls begin to cross the street after the walk sign lights up and make casual small talk about how much practice drained them that morning, until sadie hears a loud boy-ish scream and someone yells out,
"watch out!" causing sadie to stop dead in her tracks in the middle of the street to face the noise. thankfully, sofia had some common sense in her and pulls sadie out from the middle of the road as two boys speed past them on electric scooters yelling out a quick apology.
"assholes!" sofia yells out at them and flips them off.
"are you crazy?? why would you stop in the middle of the street!" she lectured as they walked on the sidewalk.
the two boys park their scooters in front of the deli and jog over to the two girls about to enter.
"hey, we're so sorry about uh.. you know... almost running you guys over.." the slightly taller boy stammers out.
"yeah, just because you're on a scooter, doesn't mean you don't follow basic traffic laws." sofia bit back at him before going on a rant about how their stupidity put not only sadie and sofia's lives in danger but also their own.
sadie took sofia's rant as an opportunity to examine both of the boys. the stuttering boy who almost ran over sadie had longer hair, blue eyes, and a growing in mustache-beard combination. he was wearing a grey nike t-shirt with a pair of basic athletic shorts.
the other boy, who had yelled in the first place for sadie to watch out, was about the same height as his friend. he had long brown hair- lighter than his friends, coming out from under his baseball cap and curling upwards at the ends. he also had blue eyes, but his seemed softer to sadie. he was also wearing a t-shirt and athletic shorts, but the simple outfit still made sadie swoon a little.
"we're really sorry about almost running you guys over with our scooters. it was irresponsible on our ends, we should've watched where we were going." he interrupted and then nudged his friend.
"yeah, we're really sorry. uh, i'll be sure to make sure i'm following traffic patterns next time." sadie looked up at the two boys and sofia rolled her eyes.
"it's okay, sometimes it happens.. i guess. but, thanks for the heads up atleast." the boys nodded back at her, so the girls decided to take that as their que to exit that awkward conversation and finally get their breakfast.
"wait! let us pay for your breakfast, it's the least we could do." the girls looked at eachother, and then back at them.
"sure." they responded. i mean, what college students would pass up free breakfast?
the two girls got on line while the boys went to grab drinks from the fridge. sadie watched them as the one in the hat took out a raspberry snapple and held it up while looking at her, she smiled at him and nodded her head.
"you like him, don't you?" sofia said to her, snapping sadie out of her thoughts.
"what do you mean? i just met him. i don't even know his name or anything. he doesn't know mine." she rambled until sofia smacked her, gently, so she'd realize the boys were back.
"here's your drink, you like snapple?" sadie looked up at him, smiled, and almost got lost in his eyes before she responded,
"oh yeah, one of my favorites." he smiled back at her and sadie thought she was going to melt away in the middle of a deli.
"i'm jack, by the way, my friends ty. he's the one who uh, you know.."
"oh! yeah. i'm sadie, and this is sofia."
soon enough, they finally got to the the front of the line and ordered their breakfast sandwiches. the girls had planned to just eat theirs on the way back to school, but the boys insisted they ate together at one of the tables outside. they had just a simple conversation, mostly the girls talking about school and swim, until sadie realized they've been talking for 15 minutes and they know nothing about the boys.
"wait so do you guys go to school around here too?" the boys glanced at eachother, trying to see how they wanted to play this,
"we actually play hockey." ty revealed quietly, and jack looked over at him like he just told the girls the biggest secret in the world.
"i didn't know rutgers had a hockey team." sadie nodded in agreement to sofia.
"so you guys live around here?" jack changed the subject 'smoothly'.
the group continued to talk until it was time for sofia to leave for one of her classes. the girls were driving over to the new brunswick campus when sadie suddenly put her phone down,
"fi, we didn't get their numbers. or like anything about them other than their names." sofia rolled her eyes,
"i knew you liked one of them, it's okay maybe we'll run into those boys again. hopefully not in a moving vehicle."
little did sadie know, she would run into those boys again, but not where she expected it..
AN: ahhhhhhhh i know this took absolutely forever to come out, and honestly i had the idea in my head but i just wasn't sure of the perfect way to execute it. this'll be the background leading up to the beginning of the song, illicit affairs by my bae taylor swift. let me know what you think about this and any requests!!

Honestly if Nightbringer winds up sucking (which imo, it likely will) I really hope it blows up in their faces and they work to improve it AND Obey Me instead of abandoning it abruptly like they're doing with og Obey Me
We got informed in a Q and A as opposed to any official announcement that there will be no further Lessons and original Obey Me will have no further updates aside from events which are fucking pointless since...what is the point of getting new cards if the game isn't continuing lol?
I get they're riding off the success of the original game, but it's annoying there's no way as far as we know to transfer accounts from people who have provided you with the success you're riding and just going "yeah, instead of improving the game we're just abandoning it. Thanks for the VIP subscriptions and AP/Devil Points/Items over the past 3 years lol" after the admittedly low-quality anime we got (which would have been a perfect opportunity to add more lore, if that's really what they wanted to do outside the original game)
Nightbringer is a reboot nobody asked for that could have been worked into the original game without making an entire new one and turning the original that made them money and skyrocketed their success into abandonware. It seems like it's trying to do way too much at once and as a result none of it is likely to work well, esp on launch: an entirely new rhythm game, shitty looking 3D models, rebooting the story instead of just adding more lore in future lessons/putting effort into better writing since last season was...oof, etc.
Also when they talk about the story and content being darker, I'm not holding my breath. I don't even mean yandere level shit since I know that isn't for everyone and they want to cater to different fans outside that demographic, I mean that you'll still have characters make the lightest allusion to something more than kissing and hand-holding just like original Obey Me. I'm just saying, if you want a darker or more mature story and relationships as a selling point for your dating sim, hopefully Nightbringer will add more depth to things than:
"Yeah Belphie did just kill me and had no remorse for it until he realized I'm descended from his baby sister, but we're cool now after not even one conversation about it. He even jokes about it sometimes teehee
Mature doesn't always have to mean "includes content of characters fucking or killing people". It can also mean characters having like. Actual conversations about things that can lead to drastic changes in their relationship. As opposed to how simplistic and childish and flanderized things became in Obey Me after a while.
This is a cast of mostly demons, one of whom is the Avatar of Lust. If you don't want to close off the entire teenage demographic, then just make it an option in settings (add an age verification tool or smth, idk) to add some content that gets spicier than hand holding and the VAs making lip smacking noises during a fade to black.
I know most mobile games, esp gacha games, aren't destined to last long but it's been less than 5 years ffs. Instead of investing so much time and money into building up an unimpressive looking game from scratch and rebooting shit, why not just...improve the game that you already know is a successful one that's been making a decent amount of money and hype amid all the merchandise deals due to its success?

CROB Headline, March 2023 - Special Season: Lights, Camera, Action!
This month, we’re going to the movies for CROB’s first Special Season and to see the production of Butter Squid Cookie’s newest movie!

Title Event: Ready, Cookie, Action!
Tragedy strikes again as Popcorn Cookie, the winner of a recent Golden Ticket contest held by the promotional committee of Jellywood, visits the filming site of the newest movie directed by Jellywood’s own Butter Squid Cookie. The movie’s lead actress was said to have declared unable to shoot for unknown reasons, bringing production to a standstill. In response, Butter Squid Cookie is said to have considered Choco Bar Cookie- the lead’s stunt double- as a replacement for the missing actress, but it’s currently unknown if she’ll accept the role.
⚙️ This event is inferred to be a template rerun of the title events held since November 2023. A proposal for a standardized guide has been approved for future publication.

A Cappella at the Rock (Newtown, PA) — VoicePlay live performances
The annual pop a cappella festival at Council Rock High School North consists of a day of workshops and master classes, followed by an evening competition, then a concert from a professional group that includes a special group number with all the students. In 2017, the featured professionals were VoicePlay (with Erik Winger as their substitute baritone). This event was the middle of a whirlwind weekend for the guys, but they always enjoy doing educational outreach.
NOTE: The video quality for most of these recordings isn't great because the audience member was trying to be discreet and respectful of their neighbors. The audio is okay, though.

"Bob's Burgers" Season 7 Episode Ranking Rewatch (Long Post)
So, I've been rewatching "Bob's Burgers" from the beginning and ranking the episodes using the spreadsheet that @babsvibes created! If you want to know why I'm doing this or how I view the 1-5 rating scale, you can check out my Season 1 post! If you want to check out any of the other seasons, I've been using the "bob's burgers episode ranking rewatch" tag for all of them.
Now, on to Season 7:

Season as whole thoughts:
Our new first place season (and I think it's kind of unlikely to be topped!) Unlike with Season 4, where I was kind of surprised by how high its average scored ended up being, Season 7 is one that I knew going in had several of my favorite episodes. I remember several years ago, the AV Club had a Q and A asking "What's the strongest 3 episode run of a TV show"? My immediate thought when seeing that : "Bob's Burgers" when they did "Ex Mach Tina" followed by "Bob Actually" followed by "There's No Business Like Mr. Business Business".
"Bob Actually" is a strongest contender for my favorite episode, and when I think of the reasons why (which do, in fact, go beyond "Roudise Kiss!!!!!!!"), I think they kind of encapsulate the strengths of this season. I think "Bob Actually" is a perfect combination of being really funny (everything Flips Whitefudge says; Ms. LaBonz stealing from the school; heck, even Mr. Blevins gets a funny line!), being really creative (giving each of the Belchers their own storylines rather than just an A and B story), and being emotionally satisfying (obviously, this kind of depends on how fond you are of Tinimmy and Roudise and Boblin.)
And I feel like a lot of the episodes of this season have that perfect combination of humor, emotion, and creativity- "Large Brother, Where Fart Thou?" sees the hilarity of Bob and Linda getting high with their account, the innovation of Tina having a storyline where she doesn't interact with any of the other Belchers, and the emotion of Gene being a protective big brother to Louise. "Last Gingerbread House on the Left" features a gunfight at a gingerbread house competition (hilarious!), that uses beautiful slow motion and closeups (creative!), and results in Bob actually winning something for once and giving a great Christmas present to his kids- and Mr. Fischoeder and his weird rich friends (awwwww!)
Obviously, I think the show was great in its previous seasons, but in my book Season 7 is just amazing- a show at the top of its game and not content to rest on its laurels!
Some thoughts on specific episodes (and feel free to ask if you want my thoughts on an episode I didn't comment on):
"Flu-ouise": I loved learning a little bit more about Kuchi Kopi and Louise's other toys! I will always crack up when Teddy says "Mumaluma!" One of my favorite end credits sequences- I love Louise's exuberant dancing and the song- "but the sickness made you better, and I'm glad you didn't diiiiiiiiie!"
"Teen-a Witch": I hope before the show ends we get to see Mr. Ambrose riding his bike to school with a little dog in the front basket.
"The Quirkducers": Along with "The Hormone-iums" this was the other episode that convinced me I should do a rewatch before doing the spreadsheet. One of the cable channels was doing a marathon of the Thanksgiving episodes and I remember feeling kind of meh when this came up- I knew it wasn't one of my favorites. Or I THOUGHT I knew! This is a wonderful episode! There is a good chance I will tear up when Tina starts singing about how "it takes guts to be yourself!" And the Grandpa Potato is hilarious! And Peter Pescadero's women's issues club song is further proof that he is THE great underrated character of the show.
"Ex Mach Tina": So, we can all just agree that Jimmy Jr's musoems are some of the funniest writing on the show, right? And that "Watching You From a Distant Place" is one of the best songs? The way all three of the plots- Tina and J-Ju and the robot, Louise and Gene and Yuli and the robot, and Bob and the banjo- come together at the end is brilliant and beautiful! Tammy and Joceyln's "A.I"-"as if" conversation, followed by Zeke's "you guys are making me feel smart" is possibly my favorite moment for those characters. This episode is really pretty perfect.
"Bob Actually": So, you may not know this about me, because I tend to keep this close to my chest but I'm actually a pretty big fan of Louise and Rudy's relationship. Shocking, right? And I've basically been shipping them since the end of "Carpe Museum", a fact which I have never disclosed before (certainly not in my Season 3 rewatch post). And then they have a Valentine's Day story that ends with them kissing, and I really like that episode. Okay, I probably dropped a lot of surprising info on y'all there so I understand if you need to take a break before reading the rest of this.
"There's No Business Like Mr. Business Business": John Oliver! Gene and Tina eating cat food! Bob training a cat! Bob accepting Gayle for who she is! Mr. Business getting ALMOST as much screentime as he deserves! This is an amazing episode, and I stand by my 2019 opinion that this the two previous episodes are the best 3 episodes run in TV history (okay, well, one of them anyway. I haven't watched all the TV shows! And how would I even know how good their episodes are if Babs doesn't make a spreadsheet for them?!)
"A Few 'Gurt Men": I was surprised how much I enjoyed this one! I'm a lawyer, and a pretty burnt out one at that, so I tend to not enjoy legal shows or movies any more- even comedy ones. But my love of the Wagstaff students and staff trumped by legal burnout and I really enjoyed this episode! Also, I love the episodes that show that Louise and Mr. Frond really respect and care for each other. (That said, I absolutely am not one of those people who sees this episode and thinks Louise will grow up to be a lawyer! She wouldn't last more than a semester at law school. No matter how mature she gets, Louise will never suffer fools gladly, and that's a kind of necessary trait to get through law school- let alone be a practicing lawyer.)
"Like Gene for Chocolate": Meh. Even Michael Jordan didn't make all his shots.
"Aquaticism": I think this is one of the most romantic episodes of "Bob's Burgers"- even more romantic than some of the Valentine's Day episodes. I may love Boblin and Roudise, but honestly it's Roger and Judy that are my real relationship goals at the present moment. Just some kind of sweet, kind of awkward middle aged people finding love...or, at least, a date Awwww. (Also, to again point out the combination of emotion and humor in this season: this is also an episode where the kids convince an aquarium owner to commit tax fraud by creating a religion and it results in an IRS agent jumping in a jellyfish tank...)
"Ain't Miss Debatin'": I love Henry Haber. I wrote a fic about him named after a line of dialogue from this episode. The scene where he goes to pick up Tina for their date and makes small talk with Bob, Gene, and Louise is one of my all-time favorites. Also, the introduction of Duncan, a character who basically makes me laugh with every single line. "Rebuttal? Where I'm from we call it buttle-rubbies."
"The Laser-inth": Maybe the sleeper hit of this season. I remember thinking it was okay going in, but it just really moved me this time around. Bob is just such a great Dad in this episode! It might be my favorite Bob and Gene episode. And the subplot is great too! I love Louise and Gretchen's dynamic: "Pretend you're a little girl." "Pssh. I'll try."
"Mom, Lies, and Videotape": So, I feel like I may have been even more obnoxiously Roudise shippy than usual in this post given that this is the season of "Bob Actually", so if that's bothered any of you, I am sorry, and I advise you skip this comment. Okay, so, this is the first speaking appearance by Chloe or Rudy since "Bob Actually". And Louise makes up a story where they are in a class play that culminates in: 1. Her shooting Chloe with a rubber band and 2. Rudy holding her tenderly in his arms in front of everyone in the auditorium (yeah, I know she's playing his mom and she's dying BUT STILL!) She could've come up with any idea and put any of her classmates in any of the roles, and that's the story she tells...
"Paraders of the Lost Float": Some episodes I know how I am going to rate them pretty early on, others I don't really know til the end. This episode just has a such a beautiful feelgood ending that it moved it from a 4 to a 5. Really, I think it's probably one of the most feelgood endings of any episode of the show. It just makes me so happy! "Hot pants rain dance! Da-da doo-doo rain, I don't know the words!"
Random thoughts (stuff that doesn't affect the ratings):
-So I kind of stopped mentioning first appearances by characters after either Rudy in Season 3 or Felix in Season 4, but it's kind of remarkable how many characters joined this season or later. It's hard to imagine we went over six seasons without having Chloe in Ms. LaBonz's class (and Arnold and Kaylee still aren't there)!
-It's too bad I'm an old person who's more comfortable writing a bunch of words than just making memes, because I feel like this all could've been covered much more succinctly with that "Seinfeld" meme: "You're crying from 'Bob's Burgers' Season 7?"

Hi guys! Thank you for all the following, reblogs and likes! Inspired by some of the recent posts I've seen regarding Dislyte and the upcoming Solstice/Christmas... Here is my Esper Union Solstice headcannons!
1. Pritzker and Q play the role of Santa and his helper elf, respectively. They are aided by the Wishlist and Naughty List Keepers (Falken and Elliot) and the Wishmistress and Wishmaster (Dhalia and Drew who listen to what the members want and provide the information).
2. Of course what would Santa be without his reindeers...? Especially Rudolf! Who are the reindeer? To name a few... Gaius, Raven (she sports the red nose), Tang Xuan, Li Ling, Luo Yan... They go all out of course! Reindeer costumes, antlers, harness, etc. Including walking on all fours as they pull the sled! They are a big hit with the kids who adore riding on their backs!
3. Of course, it's not just the kids who get gifts ... The Union hosts a Secret Santa for the Solstice. Including there is always a gift for Santa and his helpers! 😉
4. Everett doesn't sit by idly! He's the one who organises the cooking and bakes Solstice treats! He does get help from the others such as Drew.
5. Ife also helps by choosing the movies and providing Christmas-themed popcorn!
6. Everyone joins in doing the Christmas decorations. Those who can teleport and fly contribute the most! The gardeners provide the living trees for the decor!
7. Discboom and the musicians choose the festive music including performing the music live. Meanwhile the Story Club help choose the stories for the season. The Gamers help by hosting quizzes and games to give extra gifts and treats.
8. Q records everything and provides commentary and help. Including curious facts!
9. Ares beneficiary helps light the candles!
10. A tradition is that everyone must find their gifts! 😉

hi love!! welcome to the madness <3
first of all, you're my first ever ask, i got SO excited!! i have to say that i couldn't think of answers to some of these so i just left them out.
- i don't have one specific ice cream flavour i prefer, but i probably get pistachio and stracciatella the most.
- i only got interested in f1 halfway through 2023 and didn't have the opportunity to watch a lot of races, so the majority of my feelings regarding the drivers are based on sympathy. as is pretty obvious from my blog, i think, my favourite drivers are charles, oscar and alex. lando is definitely up there too.
- why are they my favourites? i will hold back from going into way too detailed analyses of these people and just say i like their personalities, as far as we get to see them from our limited perspective as fans. for alex and charles especially, i admire their resilience and strength. for oscar, i admire his calmness and level-headedness. these are all traits i don't have and kind of look up to them for.
- i would love to go to ireland and/or scotland!! i was actually supposed to go on a course trip to ireland with my english class in 11th grade, but then the pandemic started and that plan tragically failed.
- about driver pairings, i really enjoy lando and oscar as well as charles and carlos. i obviously enjoy reading rpf about these pairs, but aside from that based on the little i've seen so far i really like their team dynamics and find them incredibly entertaining and the most likable in combination with each other.
- i wanted to become a vet when i was little! that lasted until i was about 14 and realized i can't even watch a tv show about vets without bawling my eyes out when they have to put down a pet. i'm a student rn and i plan to either go into publishing or become a librarian later on.
- my favourite animals are, very boringly so, dogs. they're great. my family had one for 15 years and he was a delight to have around. i also really like horses (yes, i took horse riding lessons for ten years, thank you so much for asking). wolves are pretty cool. and snow leopards.
- i have no serious predictions, only desperate wishes. (charles leclerc 2024 wdc, lando first race win, plenty more oscar podiums, alex podium!!!, the list goes on and gets more and more silly.)

Hi Dragons. First got into Dragon Prince in January and your work has been helping me ride the emotional roller coaster, so thank you. You are into parallels and have mentioned Claudia/Rayla's 2 year hunt for Viren. I'm asking about a deeper parallel there. Aaravos exploits their vision of what makes them worthy of love (C: personal relationships over greater good/R: greater good over personal relationships) to force them on self-harming quest. I'm out of space here so follow up coming.
Follow up with the parallels: 1. Aaravos keeping Viren tethered to life starts the quests. 2. Quests serve A's purpose by driving Viren and Callum toward him (you get why for Callum) 3. Their star magic guides lead them to "resurrect" their mages at just the right time (Zubeia gone for Virin, Zubeia coming for Callum). 4. When the mages have lost their key personality trait that makes them vulnerable to Aaravos (Viren's ambition/Callum's love for Rayla) they work to restore it (more coming
5. When their mages question whether they should be restored or better to simply give up and die the women become physically violent 6. When the mages make progress to restoring ambition/love in 4x09 they end up in the arms of Claudia/Rayla (Claudia end credits). Also a couple other times in the season when the women have to catch their mages to keep them going, and of course Claudia & Rayla both lead the quests. Sorry this was long, but I did make it < 5 q's!
No apologies needed for the length, I love meta adjacent stuff like this in my askbox! Idk if we can say this definitively, as Aaravos is absolutely manipulating Claudia (and Viren and Callum) but it's unclear what his reach, if any, over Rayla is. However, these are all very tried and true Raydia parallels, absolutely, the show tightening their foil relationship even further. (I don't know if I'd label Rayla honking Callum's nose to be as harsh as Claudia's slap as I don't think it is, but those scenes definitely purposefully parallel each other - even both take place on cliffsides!) I talked about these similarities/patterns in detail in regards to S4 here if you're interested, in how Viren-Callum and Claudia-Rayla are currently operating as foil dynamics, and how they may progress (and/or swap) in the future!

Soooo, a little (a lot) late to the party, but I just finished watching The L Word: Generation Q season 2: My takeaways:
• Finnley is a mess and ruining someone's wedding is cliche and a really selfish move. Its not romantic, its not cute and she deserved the punch in the face.
• Sophie gives both Dani and Finn the run around and it's not cool. Especially when she goes and sleeps with Dani again. Then she sings that song for Fin right IN FRONT of Dani!
. Shane is shane, she and Tess are perfect and I hope season 3 (if there is one has them together).
. Angie's storyline is done really well and the actress is really good to. Spoiler! It was so sad she didn't get to meet Marcus, but also very obvious that's what was going to happen. She and her girlfriend are really cute and that Prom Proposal was adorable.
. Alice! YES!! Finally they remembered that Alice is bisexual! They even snuck in a Easter egg with Bette's (past) opinions on bisexuality.
. I really liked Sophie's idea for unsung LGBT+ heroes, but why did we only see one couple?
. Tom is adorable and Perfect, a precious bean who must be protected and I hope he and Alice get more time together and they don't just ruin it by having a rejected proposal and we never see him again.
. Gigi, yeah.... I'm not to invested in her character, but she was good to Dani. I do however feel really bad for how she was treated by Bette!
. Alice's chapter on Dana 😭😭 right in the feels!
. Micah is a great guy, I'm not too sure about his love interests this season though. Mirabel is great and they have a cute friendship, the horse riding scene was cute but I think it went to "I'm in love with you" way to fast and she seemed reluctant and then didn't even tell her family they were dating (while perfectly happy to spill Sophie's drama). We got snippets of her struggles, her mum thinking she won't have to worry about dating, but that's something that could have been explored a bit more. Honestly, I found myself rooting for Micah and his co-worker.
. Tina, oh Tina, was she even there? She just pops up for a few minutes and is gone. She's defined by her relationship with Bette, that it, that's all Tina has. Even when she's being there for Angie, Bette is there. When's she's talking to her fiancé, it's all about Bette. The original series at least tried to give her storylines that weren't completely about Bette.
. Which brings us to Carrie, oh poor, loveable Carrie. Carrie is defined almost entirely by Bette as well. Every scene she's in its either with Bette or its a conversation about Bette. Seriously Tina, marry this woman who quite clearly loves you and can see your conniving ex for who she truly is.
. Which bring us to Bette f**king Porter! My God I hate this woman!! I hated her when I was a teenager and I hate her now! Bette (other than Jenny) is the worst character and I can't understand why people love her so much. She's not changed, she still a self centered, selfish, stuck up arsehole and I can't take to her. From the get go she's just a bully to Carrie who's just being nice. She uses women (Gigi) for sex and then can't be arsed with them later on. The moment something doesn't go her way she turns on Dani, she didn't even give her a chance to speak before she got all on her high horse and was nasty. She practically stalked that artist to get what she wanted, even though she had been told no. That's the thing about Bette, if she wants it, sex or even someone to be in an art show, she feels she has the right to keep going. Also, what is with Bette Porter and sleeping with people she works with?!!! I knew exactly how the therapy session would go and how she would flip out at Angie and I was right. But mostly what I can't stand about Bette is her constant need to have Tina but also other women. She has always been like this, she likes to have control of Tina or at least have Tina as a back up while she goes out and sleeps with other women. She was damn right Evil with what she did in the last episode, playing nice with Carrie on to basically tell her fiancé she's still in love with her. Then to top it off, they had door mat Tina turn up at Bette's door. TIBETTE SUCKS!! I've never quite gotten over Bette trying to force Tina to have sex with her and I never will. Come at me, I don't care.
.oh and Shane?! Telling home wrecker Bette that a VERY drunk woman was having pre wedding doubts (caused by said homewrecker) is a shitty thing to do! Bette took that bait and just thought "I can get what I want now".
. Fin went to rehab! Good stuff!
. Dani? You knew you would be in contempt of court and yet you went drinking and look surprised when you're arrested? Gigi you didn't help here.
. The Nat and Alice polyamory storyline (minus Gigi) felt rushed to me. Nat doesn't even think too much about Alice and jumps straight in. Honestly it felt like the season 2 writers just wanted Nat gone.
. The singing was great, I'll even applaud Bette for her part in Love Shack.
. Finally, Dani's dad is awful!!!

how do the veteran knights explain merlin and arthur's relationship to the newbies?? they see merlin, a servant, mouthing off to the prince (or king, depending on which season you're watching) and they think surely he's going to be punished but then arthur's giving it right back and suddenly it's a back and forth that just has the older knights rolling their eyes and shaking their heads in fond amusement

steve being a chaperone at the senior prom of '86 because he promised robin and nancy a dance at least once. all sad because eddie said he wasn't going and what's the point of being a chaperone if you can't whisk your boyfriend away for a private dance? but then halfway through the night eddie shows up dressed to the nines in a black waistcoat and a white button up, black tie tucked in and his chain hanging from the pocket of his black dress pants, wearing his nicest sneakers. his hair is pulled up into a ponytail and steve just stops. stares. and then promptly m e l t s.

really though, think about it.
girls in robin's year would totally still be hung up over steve "the hair" harrington. king steve. the boy they've created in their heads and would kill for a shot to go out with him.
so when they see his beemer in the parking lot after school on the first day in 1985, a game of telephone immediately starts. they gossip about how he's there to see a girl, nevermind the fact he'd never go for someone still in high school (unless you're a boy whose repeating his senior year but that isn't relevant just yet), and names start flying. news reaches inside the school building quickly and the halls are filled with whispers.
no one gets close to him. it's almost as if everyone is waiting with baited breath to see who's going to get in the car. they watch and discreetly point and make their predictions until a hush falls over them when they see steve perk up and sit in his seat a little straighter, turning his key in the ignition and starting the car. everyone looks around for the girl he's inevitably taking home, and the building doors slam open with a bang! and robin buckley comes tumbling out onto the sidewalk with all the gracefulness of a newborn foal. they pay her no mind and keep watch for the absolutely beautiful girl that has the honor of sitting in his passenger seat.
and then robin buckley moves in and throws her backpack into his backseat before sitting shotgun. says something that has steve letting out the most ugly cackle they've ever heard, a giant grin on his face.
there's no way.
how did robin buckley manage to capture the former king of hawkins for herself?
they watch as steve backs out of the parking space, still laughing and engrossed in whatever conversation the two of them are having, and drive away.
after he picked her up that first day, he's been driving her to and from school ever since just so she wouldn't have to ride the bus. even going so far as getting her breakfast and coffee before he drops her off. he's got her a little bit spoiled.
and it makes all the girls furious.
robin thinks it's absolutely fucking hilarious.
they mostly glare at her in the hallway between classes and she has to stifle her giggles behind her hand. they won't do anything directly, she's noticed, but she hears the jeers behind her back and it only makes her roll her eyes. if only they knew the real steve.
robin shows up late wearing a polo under her denim jacket that obviously belongs to steve. they had their weekly sleepover the night before (where they share a bed and oh wouldn't that knowledge make every girl see red) and they'd both slept through the shrill ringing of the alarm clock. she'd snatched the shirt off his floor in her haste to get dressed and neither of them noticed until someone was brave enough to point it out.
"woke up late and didn't have a clean shirt," robin shrugs. then, to be a little mean, "not my fault his bed's so comfortable."
and just like she thought, the girl's face goes bright red and the steam coming from her ears is almost visible. she storms off and they've got new gossip for the week.
it keeps happening. robin wears steve's clothes more than her own now after realizing how good she actually looks and how comfortable they are compared to her own. it's not all polos and buttons; there's a few plain tee's and a couple with graphic designs that she tends to favor more.
"keep 'em of you like them so much," steve had told her one weekend as she raided his closet. he was still bundled up under the blankets in his bed and looking at her fondly. "they don't fit me anymore and i'd rather they get more use than collect dust."
the day before christmas break, robin's sitting at her regular lunch table when the chair in front of her is turned backwards and eddie munson is straddling it, giving her a smirk.
"so, buckley, a little birdie tells me that you and harrington are going steady."
robin rolls her eyes. "me and the dingus?" she shakes her head. "there's nothing going on there, trust me. we are platonic with a capital P, all the way."
eddie hums in consideration and he's got that look on his face that robin recognizes well. she gives him a once over and leans in, beckons him forward like she's telling a secret.
"but you, on the other hand..."

some trashy tabloid publishes an article about eddie (without prior planning or authorization from his pr team) basically trying to drag eddie's name through the mud and spread lies about him just for clout and views.
fans are rightfully upset and immediately take to defending him and mentioning him and steve in their tweets. eddie doesn't publicly comment on it but steve posts a video to instagram of eddie laying in the recliner with their baby on his chest, singing softly to her to get her to sleep, rubbing her back with his fingertips and a soft smile on his face.
his caption is the complete opposite. it's scathing and he shows the world just how big of a bitch he can be when it comes to defending his husband.

when steve and eddie finally adopt, everyone thinks that eddie's gonna be the fun parent and steve's gonna be the over protective one. when their kid falls from climbing the playground equipment at the park, they find out its the complete opposite.
eddie's on the ground with the kid pulled onto his lap and wiping their tears and speaking in soft tones to calm them down.
steve takes one look at their scraped knee and says, deadpan, "yep. we're definitely gonna have to chop your leg off." which makes the kid scream and cry harder into eddie's chest as eddie tries to scold steve without laughing.
