i imagine that every time an opm character discovers how strong saitama is and starts to admire him, genos is in the background pointing an incinerator at them and telling them to get another sensei

Sensei! (pt 3)
I've long been a fan of how master-student relationships develop in OPM, and I thought I'd share some awesome ones we've been treated to. Just in case it needs saying, masters on the left, disciples on the right.

I love how Okamaitachi hasn't just gotten the technique, but the attitude too.

Being Yoriichi disciples HCS
Yoriichi Tsugikuni X Reader
(Actually, I want to make it platonic, but it's kinda up to you if you want to see this as a romantic relationship)
CW : Mention of arranged marriage, Reader-san is a former Noble
- it's actually an accidental
- it's a very cold night back then, as you run with your utmost speed, running away from whatever thing that chases you, whether it's a guard that after you or a hungry feral demons that try to devour you
- why guard? It's because you were running away from your house, not wanting to marry someone that is far older than you because of that damned arranged marriage
- and why demons? Well, it's kind of an unlucky day for you, but thankfully they kill the guard that goes after you, but sadly, now they try to eat you
- and you eventually crossed paths with Yoriichi, your unexpectedly-to-be- teacher
- Of course, as a demon slayer, he executes those demons without any further question, and he actually ask why such a person like you are out of house in the middle of the night
- then he found you collapse (if it's me, my mouth would be bubbling fr) out of fear
- He sighed as he pick you up and search for a shrine to spend his night, or at least until you're awake, and thank God it didn't took a long time for you to regain consciousness
- you explain your situation to him, he listened to it quietly and only give a quick nod or just a simple "I see", but even after he heard everything (is he even listen to you ? Lol) , he still tell you to go home anyway, because it's safer that way
- but then, you ask him to teach you a swordsmanship, and his eyes are kind of widened? Even tho his expression does not change much
- "I'm sorry, but I have to refuse... I do not take any disciples", and now, it depends on your stubbornness, you have to un-tiredly ask him a lot of time, and if it's possible... Try to make him pissed off
- "......... Come with me"
- he teaches you every basic of swordsmanship patiently and silently, as you wandering with him (because he doesn't really have any place to back), and it kind of nice, because the more the merrier
- and you actually take care of his poor soul, you cook a lot for him, and tend to his wounds if he got one (despite of him always tell you that's unnecessary, but you does it anyway), and he's surprised you knew well about medical stuff
- headpat is always, he's never been great with praise, when you did a great job he just pat (more like tap) your hair and tell you're doing great with his deadpan expression
- willingly piggyback you, it's happen quite often at daylight, when night is kept you both awake, you often find yourself tired and sleepy, then he offers you his back for you to hop on
- " We have to continue, if you're that sleepy.... I could carry you on my back if you want"
- he never like being called "sensei" Or "master" Or any formal nickname, just call him "Yoriichi"
- you're his soft spot, he's happy when you're happy, and sympathetic when you're sad, he doesn't mind if you doesn't really master the Sun Breathing, he could help you find your own breathing style, or if you want to just become a medic, he's on the "support" mode and help you gather a lot of herbs
- his gift are simple and useful, such as katana, a simple accessories, and a clothing that kind-of-having (sorry for poor language) a matching style with him ( poor man does not know which style of clothes that you like), et cetera
- " Your determination and stubbornness remind me of Uta"
- you caught him smiling a lot of time, and he actually get embarrassed and try to change the topic if you ask him about it
- he tells you everything about his life, he's comfortable enough with you for him to spill the tea, and wishing for you to live a happy life if it's possible
- please tell him that you're living your best life with him by your side, it gonna make him so happy that his eyes are full of tears, while muttering "thank you" A lot
- despite of you being strong enough to protect yourself, he still worries a lot and always remind you not to be so reckless
- and it's the sad part, the part when you finally have to bid farewell to each other, for a reason, you cannot travels with him anymore, and for a reason he could no longer stay with you anymore and you have to part ways
- but still, if you that insists, you will continue your journey with him and actually grow old and frail together, and jokingly call him "sensei" And he would still got mad by it
- and it's a secret that he want to keep it inside of the deepest part of his heart, but he actually afraid if one day you will get your demon slayer mark, he may be an exception, but he knew not everyone is not as lucky as him, what if it's were you being unlucky and died at such young age? , he always hold his tears from those thoughts, after a years of spending his life with you, he couldn't help but growing afraid to lose you
- not after his dearest wife and unborn child
- death is inevitable, he aware of that, and that's why if you happened to got your mark, he will give everything that he could to you and make sure you're living your life at its best, without any regret, even at your last moment
- " Never once I regretted to took you as my disciple, Y/N"
.
.
.
.
Sheeshh that's a long HCS for sure, thanks for reading it, like and reblogs are heavily appreciated^^
If you have any requests, let me hear it please
Sorry for the language mistake and have a nice day

DAY ONE OF WANPANMAS!!!! STARRY NIGHT!!!!!! (sound on!)
Aahh... the boys..... the BOYS..... ficlet, still image, and GIF under the cut <3<3
“It’s getting so cold lately…”
“Would Sensei like my sweater?”
Saitama tugged his well-loved jacket closer, laughing low. “And leave you naked?”
“It would not matter much to me, Sensei. I can maintain my internal body temperature regardless of how much clothing I wear.”
A leaf pattered across the broken concrete, leaving bits of itself behind with every bounce. “That’s not really the point.”
“If it would help you keep warm, I would be more than happy to lend it to you.”
“Of course you would,” Saitama muttered, eyes focused on the boots beside him. It was a familiar sight, now, and sound. The stomp-stomp, the chink-chink, the whirr of motors and a deep voice he could always rely on to answer him.
It’s weird, how quickly it became a habit for Saitama to call out to him.
“Hey Genos?”
“Yes, Sensei?”
Saitama smiled. “You don’t have to do that, you know.”
“...Do…what?”
“Give me anything I ask for.”
“But you would do it for me.”
It was getting harder to look him in the eyes sometimes, though. “Well…”
“And I’m happy to do it.”
“But you don’t have to.”
“Sensei, you misunderstand.” The steps beside him slowed. “I am happy to do it. Even if I didn’t feel that I should as your disciple, or because you deserved it for all that you are, I would still do it. I enjoy it.”
“...Yeah?” Saitama asked, looking up to the clear sky, matching the pace of the man next to him. “I guess that makes sense. You’re always looking out for everyone.”
Genos stopped, so Saitama stopped too. It was a second before he piped up again. “I do not feel that I am proficient enough to look out for everyone… But Sensei, is… You are not just anyone.”
The stars were so bright, and so many. It made Saitama dizzy. “You say that stuff all the time… I feel like a jerk.”
“Why? I didn’t mean to–”
“No,” Saitama interrupted, laying a hand on Genos’ shoulder. “Not like that. You’re not doing it. I just never say anything back to you.”
His ever-devoted disciple tipped his head. “Do you have anything to say back?”
“You don’t think I do?”
Genos blinked. “About me? I…” His breath steamed against the dark, catching the moonlight and curling around his face like a glowing picture frame. “I cannot imagine what you would have to say.”
He looked so...soft.
“Are you serious," Saitama asked, failing to make it sound like a joke.
“Yes.” He hid his eyes behind his bangs. Saitama was sure he didn’t know how much of a tell that was, or else he wouldn’t do it.
“You don’t think I…” Saitama swallowed. “Do you think that little of yourself?”
Genos shrunk back. “I am reckless and stupid in battle, and I am constantly forgetting things. It seems I can never get anything right, no matter how many chances I am given. If I could–”
Saitama put a finger to his mouth before he could go down that path. “Stop. No. You wouldn’t be here if all you did was lose.” He let his hand slip. “You know that.”
Steam whispered from under Saitama’s fingers. It was hot, and burned even worse next to the sting of the cold air. He moved his palm to rest it on Genos’ core and it pulsed gently in the night.
It radiated a much nicer kind of warmth.
They stood like that in the dark, wind whistling through the trees around them. Saitama watched the blue light bleed out between his fingers. It was mesmerizing.
“I’m sorry,” he said, quiet, “That I’m bad. At that. At letting you know.”
“Know…what, Sensei?” Genos leaned closer, like the hum around them was too loud and he couldn't hear over it. “You still haven’t said what you mean.”
They both knew he could though.
“What… What I think about you.”
Genos looked up, expectant. He stared like a frightened rabbit, but his eyes were locked onto Saitama all the same.
When Saitama focused back onto his chest, those eyes followed. They were quiet again for the second time as Saitama thought. His silence was harsh and biting as the chill.
Then, with only a small uptick in his pulse, he took Genos' chin and tipped it up. And he was the one to look him straight-on this time.
It was still hard.
Genos’ hand tentatively curled around his wrist. Not pulling. Not pushing.
“I,” Saitama started, breathing out. He could feel the heat sticking to his skin. They were so close now there was nowhere else for it to go. “Genos, I…”
Metal fingers tugged at his open coat, scared. Hopeful. Inviting.
Genos’ lip was trembling.
Saitama inhaled once more, tasting the electricity that buzzed beneath his hand. He swallowed it down, deep into his gut, and he pressed forward.
Genos would give Saitama the shirt off his back without a second thought. Of course he would. And he was right, Saitama would do the same for him. He would help keep the shiver from Genos however he knew how, no matter where it was.
To keep him warm. …To keep him near.
To try to let him know everything he meant to his dumb, grateful, overheating sensei, even if the feeling was too big to ever fit into words alone.
His lips could still make do.

(Aka MB babysits two boys older than himself)
Guess what they are playing :)
Z: Onii-chan, I thought you were good at this game!
MB: I am! It's Garou's fault we keep losing!
Genos: Yes. Even Saitama sensei is able to beat the CPU. Garou is terrible.
G: Shut the fuck up! It's not fair we have to play against that robot.
MB: I *told* you to pick Kirby
G: That's gay!
MB: Oh my fucking God Garou.
Z: You can't say that! *And DON'T cuss at Onii-chan!*
T: Y-yeah... it's ok Oji-san... it's just a game...
Genos: Yes Garou. Grow up.
G: Whatever! I can still kick yer ass!
Tama: *eating garou's hair*

❝𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐮-𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐢❞ Chapter 19
Tumblr media
Satoru-Sensei | ←Previous chapter • Next Chapter→
Summary: Do they really think they can take you away from here? You are here because you want to be with him. Do they think you'll leave him just like that? When someone shows up to take you away, you won't want to go. There was a moment when he felt bad. Because he knew you were here with him instead of your family. But when he asked if you wanted to leave and live your old life, you said you didn't need that and that you wanted to be with him.
They can't know you. They must not know about you so that you can have peace.
Tumblr media
"I don't think it's wise to use Shikigami that can be destroyed in a pointless fight."
The white-haired man dodged each attack with the slightest difficulty. His movements were smooth and very easy.
For him, these attacks were so easy to avoid. He couldn't even fight seriously.
He doesn't want to kill his disciples. He never wanted to do anything bad to them. However, he had to keep them at bay.
He won't attack. He will defend.
His posture will remain defensive. He won't let them go near house.
They can't touch you. They can't see you. Because when that happens, they will be more determined to take you away from him.
He can't let them into the house... He has to keep them here. Until they have had enough and decide that further fighting is pointless.
Gojo would never hurt you or them. There was no one who was ever close to him.
He never wanted to lose anyone again.
Especially you. The person who had been closest to him for two years. There are no other people he cares about more than you.
"Pointless fight? After all, a sorcerer's job is to help someone who needs it, right?" He growled and motioned for the dog to attack the white-haired man.
Sharp claws stopped at his infinity. As always.
He wasn't seriously fighting. He didn't want to kill them. But he did everything to not hurt them and also to keep them away from you.
When he heard the whistling, his eyes widened.
The dog in front of him disappeared. It started going the other way. Towards home.
Do they really think they can take you away from here? You are here because you want to be with him.
Do they think you'll leave him just like that? When someone shows up to take you away, you won't want to go.
There was a moment when he felt bad. Because he knew you were here with him instead of your family. But when he asked if you wanted to leave and live your old life, you said you didn't need that and that you wanted to be with him.
You said it! And that means that you are here with him because you want it.
They think he's a madman who kidnapped you? He would never do anything bad to you. He would never hurt you.
But if they think otherwise, he must show them the truth.
When they want to take you away by force under the pretext of saving you. But if you don't need saving, they will hurt you.
They don't realize that if they do this, they will hurt you more than not having people around you for two years.
You're definitely awake by now. You're probably worried about what's going on outside right now.
But he was internally begging you not to go outside.
His disciples will not hurt you. They won't do anything bad to you. But they will hurt you when they take you away.
They want to take you to Jujutsu High and keep you where Gojo can't get to you. Because, according to them, Gojo has gone crazy. He became possessive of the person who was close to him. Toward his friend, who was his student. Jealous of your attention. He needs your attention so he can smile. This was his most childish behavior. Jealousy that someone may be more interested in you than him. Your love is a protective love. At the very beginning, it was a love that was not entirely romantic. It was attachment and jealousy that you would be with someone else. Fear that something might happen to you. But now it was something else. It was real. Because the fear of ever leaving him is gone. You are his closest person, and you will not leave him.
Not like the others... You're with him, and you say you're not going anywhere.
A sweet person who showed him affection he didn't get often.
The joy of your smile.
Is he going to lose the joy of coming home every day? No way!
The big dog kept running, but without growling. During this time, Gojo had to dodge punches and nails.
The dog didn't look aggressive.
He wondered why it looked like that.
And when he found out, his eyes widened completely. He saw little fingers touching a tree that stood next to the sidewalk.
And suddenly, he saw the color of your eye as you gently leaned out from behind the tree.
It's obvious you've woken up from your light sleep. It's obvious you came to check on what's going on. He wasn't next to you, and there were screams and noises outside that had never been there before.
His world stopped when he saw this situation.
His hand was extended forward, and he clenched his fist, drawing the shikigami in before it could get to you.
Fushiguro dismissed his Shikigami and looked at you from afar.
Watching as your eyes turned towards Gojo. You just looked at him. You moved your lips. Your eyebrows were arched sadly.
You must have been terrified...
But before he could get to you, Gojo started running towards you, and you slowly came out of hiding, trembling.
When you saw someone attacking your Satoru in your safe home, you wanted to scream. You wanted to do something to make them stop.
But you couldn't. Because before you knew it, your arms were being held by Satoru's hands, who was looking at you with love, even if his face might seem scary to someone else. However, you saw hints of warmth in those eyes. The warmth he gave you.
"Shh, calm down. All is well. You can't be nervous. It's Okay..." he murmured, hugging you to his chest. He pulled you down to kneel, and he kneeled in front of you, giving you more cover from them.
Your sudden appearance brought a halt to a fight that was never meant to be serious.
When you get nervous about anything or are afraid, your technique will wake up. And then you will feel pressure all around. You will feel the pain of your energy in your body.
If only there was a way to make your body compatible with your technique. But there is no way to do that. He needs you to be calm and happy. Then your technique remains dormant.
However....
"(y/n)! Get away from him!"
"Leave her!"
"We help you!"
It wasn't the screams that calmed you down.
Your hands tightened on his shirt.
“Go away…” you moaned, eager for them to hear it. However, they did not hear. Because only Satoru heard it.
If they heard this, maybe they would leave you alone.
Maybe they would understand that you want to be here with him.
Maybe you would have peace until the end, and you could live the way you want.
But even if you told them that you were here because you wanted to and that you loved him, they wouldn't leave you alone.
They may hate you for lying...
When your parents forgot about you, there wasn't much of a fuss.
So maybe this will be easier?
Don't watch you cry. Don't look at your sadness when you remember this moment...
The white-haired man let go of your body gently and stood up, joining his hands to appear next to his students and touch their foreheads.
The air was spinning, and they didn't know for a moment where they were. What is this place?
Gojo-sensei was with them. Therefore, everything was fine.
Were they fighting a curse?
What is most important...
Questions swirled in their heads.
Who is (y/n) (l/n)?
Has there ever been a person like (y/n) (l/n)?
They do not know.
Tumblr media
A/N This may just be my speculation or my imagination to add to the story. But judging by the fact that Limitless allows Gojo to control energy even in the atomic state, and that he can knock someone unconscious with just a touch, I think he may have some effect on the brain. It's not like I gave him the power to erase memories or manipulate brains. What I mean more is that it would shock the brain and make it forget something. Like when you hit your head and you don't know what happened.

Daydream Generation: The Lasting Legacy of Akira Toriyama's Work
Tumblr media
Here on AcquiredStardust we don't talk about anime enough and we wish that beginning to rectify this could've come under better circumstances. Just what is the Daydream Generation anyway? Join Ash as she attempts the impossible task of summarizing the importance of the 'god of manga' Akira Toriyama after his passing earlier this month in this special tribute.
Late Thursday night news finally broke on social media that beloved manga author Akira Toriyama had passed away several days before, prompting an immediate outpouring of grief the world over. Many of us feel a deep sense of loss in a way unimaginable before his work achieved the level of cultural penetration and ubiquitous veneration that it has, and it is impossible to overstate the singular importance he had in shaping our modern culture.
Responsible for hit manga Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball which quickly found themselves at the forefront of the Japanese pop culture renaissance of the Showa period, Toriyama's work is possessed of a rare combination of an earnest childlike wonder and adventure that is perfectly serviced by an instantly recognizable art style that is something of a rite of passage to for budding artists to imitate. It is in that Showa boom period that the Daydream Generation, a term coined by Toriyama disciple Yoshihiro Togashi's Yu Yu Hakusho particularly as the title of its 5th ending theme, is forged.
It is no overstatement to refer to Akira Toriyama as "the god of manga", and in fact he is referred to as such by Masashi Kishimoto of Naruto fame. It is Kishimoto's generation, coming of age in the Showa era in which Toriyama produces his most significant works, that finds themselves first so captivated by it. Although anime is in the middle of a golden age by the time Toriyama's work is published (lead perhaps most by Leiji Matsumoto of Galaxy Express 999/Captain Harlock fame and Mobile Suit Gundam visionary Yoshiyuki Tomino), Toriyama's work forges a connection with Japanese readers in a way that other work hasn't quite in the same way.
Perhaps it is the clean linework, deceptively simplistic and stylish all at once. Perhaps it is the expressive characters often named with clever puns or food related names. Perhaps it is familiar cultural touchstones and elements of comedy and parody rolled seamlessly into each other. Perhaps it is the refinement in elements popularized by contemporary works like Ring ni Kakero such as the frequent use of tournaments as a framing for the plot Perhaps it is the rare ability for Toriyama to create characters that often appeal equally to male and female readers without either demographic rejecting them, feat only rivaled with any real frequency by authors Rumiko Takahashi and Hiromu Arakawa.
Regardless of the cause, the strong creative voice and earnestness that shines through Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball does something special for children of the Daydream Generation: it makes the job of creating manga seem more attainable than other works of the time do. It gives a generation of children the ability to dream, some for the first time, of their own works. It is in the immediate wake of these works that authors such as Masashi Kishimoto, Yoshihiro Togashi, Tite Kubo and Eiichiro Oda come of age and dream of their own works in direct inspiration from them.
The Daydream Generation, sat in their desks at class fantasizing about a world in which they too would be able to pursue creative dreams in a postwar Japan perhaps otherwise unattainable to them without first being armed with the sense of accessibility that Toriyama provided readers, affectionately refer to Toriyama as 'sensei' nearly universally. It is he who is the god of manga, revered and emulated - Toriyama, more so than any individual, is responsible for the explosion of Japanese pop culture in this era and many manga authors are frank in their admittance of such. It isn't just limited to the world of manga either, as Toriyama has a hand in multiple iconic video games such as Enix's Dragon Quest and Square's Chrono Trigger.
But then something equal parts special and unlikely happens: in the late 1990s Toriyama's work begins to be exported into the west with relatively minimal changes to the source material, and the whole process repeats itself. This time with a constant flow of follow up works by the Daydream Generation to help Japan's global pop culture takeover.
Anime's infiltration into the west played out on college campuses, and in those early days of fandom defined by import VHS and LaserDisc it was nearly unthinkable that it would end up mainstream enough to appear on television. While early ground is gained on anime in the mainstream (particularly Ronin Warriors hitting television in a largely unedited form in 1995 as well as multiple attempts to import Sailor Moon around the same timeframe, not to mention Pokemon's debut in late 1998), it is not until the revamping of Cartoon Network's Toonami block, spearheaded by Dragon Ball Z, that anime would truly arrive in the west.
The importance of Toonami in getting anime in front of the eyes of the generation following the Daydream Generation in America cannot be overstated. It was the first time many of us laid eyes on animation that wasn't an episodic comedy, with more mature themes. It was the first time we had encountered drastic cultural differences inherent in anime. For many of us, particularly in the case of Dragon Ball Z, it was even the first time we began to see animation and even creativity as being something that comes from someone rather than spontaneously generating itself for consumption. For the first time in my memory a mania kicked off with the addition of Dragon Ball Z to Toonami in 1999 that changed the way my generation thought about and consumed media.
Gathered around our own desks ten plus years later, American children male and female alike passionately discussed Dragon Ball Z. We debated power levels, questioned what other planets and races populated the universe of the series, and for the first time we discussed concepts that were unknown to us just a short time before: who was the creator of this series and where did it come from? Mirroring the effect that Toriyama's work had on the Daydream Generation many Milennials and Gen X people, especially those with no prior introduction to anime, found themselves absolutely captivated by Dragon Ball Z. Millions of young people put pencil to paper for the first time to imitate the art style of Toriyama brought to animated glory by the staff at Toei or to write fanfiction. We developed these skills and collaborated with each other now armed with the same sense of approachability that the Daydream Generation had years before us. And then the hits kept coming. Serving as a gateway into a world of animation previously largely unknown in the west, Toonami exploded in the following years.
Starting in 2000 Toonami added Tenchi Muyou, a series almost completely different to Dragon Ball Z which would go on to be an influence in Dana Terrace's recent Disney hit The Owl House, and Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. The Gundam franchise, originally popular in Japan contemporaneously with Akira Toriyama's work, had seen many followups and spinoffs in the years after the original series ended and had itself become a titan of Japanese pop culture. Finally hitting the west using Dragon Ball Z as a bridge, it was the first time many of us were introduced to animation as a medium for communicating complicated political ideas.
Perhaps most significantly, as is easily observed through diving into the wealth of old abandoned websites from the Geocities era, Gundam Wing served as a vehicle through which young people were introduced to male characters that all seemed to have romantic chemistry with each other. Having both lived through the era and examining it in retrospect I say with all sincerity that it was Gundam Wing that helped begin the yaoi craze in the west, by then a well established thing in Japan, and was therefore absolutely instrumental in beginning to soften the attitudes of young people towards queer people in the west.
A strong hunger for more of this extremely different kind of animation had been created and the floodgates were about to open. Years immediately following saw the broadcast of memorable anime such as Outlaw Star and The Big O. 2003 saw Nobuhiro Watsuki's unavoidably Japanese historical fiction piece Rurouni Kenshin debut in America, Yoshihiro Togashi's Yu Yu Hakusho finally make the transition to the west followed by Eiichiro Oda's One Piece and Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto in 2005. Each of these works massively impacted my generation and empowered us in a different way: whereas the Daydream Generation saw the opportunity to create their own works my generation had the luxury of exploring these works, full of ideas and states of being unknown to us before then. We were armed with the ability not just to create our own works but to create ourselves and to decide who we would be far more liberally than we would have otherwise been comfortable doing in the past.
It is worth noting that Toonami did not have total dominion over the boom of anime in America: while there were others in later years, latenight programming [Adult Swim] pursued an older viewer who was hungry for even more of what the wide world of anime had to offer. Rumiko Takahashi's Inuyasha was an early favorite alongside the likes of such classics as Cowboy Bebop, Trigun and FLCL. Already massively influential in his own right, it was using Akira Toriyama's work as a foothold that quite literally proved to be the breakthrough moment for anime in the west and provide any of these incredible shows with an audience here.
As such there are few people you can point to as singularly responsible for shaping the way our culture (and that's culture at large - not just pop culture) works. Akira Toriyama's name is up there with the likes of Walt Disney and George Lucas in its weight. His works and the bridge they provided to other works helped to reshape the way we communicated with each other, the ways in which we saw ourselves, and the things we dared to dream. Millions and millions of people pursued writing or drawing, or the powerful physiques of Akira Toriyama's characters featured in Dragon Ball, and those who were inspired by him continue to share his work with their offspring ensuring his timeless classics remain in circulation perpetually.
He is, while not the origin point, the biggest guiding hand in so many aspects of our culture and the man most singularly responsible for the exporting of Japanese pop culture to the world. He has left behind an incredible legacy that few could ever hope to achieve and fewer yet will, and more importantly he inspired generations of people to be and do things they otherwise never would've thought possible. Both directly and indirectly his fingerprints are all over what you enjoy perhaps without even realizing it, and it's unlikely that will ever go away no matter how far we get from his life and work.

“Aren’t there more pressing matters to deal with, Sensei..?”
Tumblr media
“Oh lighten up, my boy. I’ve been cooped up in that cave for what feels like eons, and so have you! We could use a bit of social interaction. And what better way than a gala?
Nothing better than a medley of well dressed souls, food and drink!”
Tumblr media
“Maybe for you…”
The God of Souls and his disciple have arrived at the gala.

Idk but I think Genos got those self-deprecating feelings EVEN after he saw what Saitama did for him through the core was because they got different expectations from each other.
Saitama cared about Genos as a companion, a loyal disciple who will always be with him no matter how bad he is, a righteous person who still follows justice in this mad world. Genos is the reason he keeps trying to be better to deserve, and so the person who kept him sane when he started seeing humans as insects. That's why he'd rather destroy the whole world if he saw his disciple be killed, his source for him to 'cling for support' be gone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's worried about Genos. He somehow wanted him to let go of his anger, to move on and live a peaceful life, rather than pursuing his revenge only to be destroyed. In other words, he's scared of losing Genos. (these panels were in the wc as well, but I love the idea that Saitama was haunted by Genos' death esp after seeing his dead core in the manga's MA arc)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It doesn't matter to him whether Genos is strong or weak. All that matters is Genos being there with him, as a human, not a robotic weapon.
On the other hand, Genos cared more about destruction power to fulfill his revenge purpose (Edit: and yes he also wanted to be stronger to protect other people, not like a helpless child he was 4 years ago). He sees Saitama as a 'symbol of strength' he wanted to follow, a person he admires, or worships to some point. That's why he'd be angry at anyone who looks down on his master or doesn't recognize his ability, also the reason why he follows the whole "notice me sensei" theme. (it's not like love and I want to deny this)
Tumblr media
Plus he couldn't hear Saitama's thoughts from those memories as how lucky we were. He didn't know Saitama got that level of power JUST because the master had experienced such extreme emotions when he'd seen his disciple's death. All Genos perceived was -Saitama's power was so out of this world that he literally sneezed out a whole planet. That power, compared to his punch that blew a mountain range, is on a different level.
About the core touching scene, maybe from Genos' view this could just mean his master trying to encourage him, like he's always been doing despite how terrible it was in the latest chapter. And it was not because Saitama actually acknowledged his progress. He's that kind of person who always yearns for the better and therefore exhausts himself no matter how much other people told him to relax. I couldn't think of any proper explanation for it. I hope this makes sense.
I sure missed something, but I'm always a sucker for idjits who don't know how much they love each other, or at least, from Saitama's side only.

"like normal people do" - Sai/Shikako, cosmic horror under the guise of romance
Anonymous asked: "Memento Mori," Master of Death!Harry Potter/Shikabane-hime!Shikako, vows under the auspices (only shooting stars)-verse, because I really just want to see these two reluctant gods of death being sweet and earnest and soft with each other as the rest of the world watches in bemusement and/or wariness Anonymous asked: Nec deus intersit, nisi dignus vindice nodus (inciderit), Shikabane-Hime 🌌🌟🦌🖤🌠 damnsmartblueboxes asked: jic tumblr ate my counting corvids fake title asks: Would you ever write an Original? Fiction about accidental body cohabitation & platonic devotion? Like cyborg & ai, Venom-style, transmigration, however the temple that is a body is devoted to two gods :p
Because there are SO MANY prompts left in my inbox and I am RUNNING OUT OF DAYS and, also, these four resonated when I went through my inbox, I will be answering these prompts together, I hope you don’t mind anon(s) and @damnsmartblueboxes!
Let me start by saying: while I do look fondly on my fic vows under the auspices (only shooting stars) and consider it some of my best work as well as love how it endeared people to my genin OCs for jounin sensei!Shikako, I’d rather not further engage in the Harry Potter franchise for obvious reasons.
However, the concept of reluctant god of death still applies to Shikabane-hime!Shikako even without an equally reluctant god of death counterpart, and the premise of your prompt still applies, for the most part, especially in combination with the other anon prompt of cosmic horror under the guise of romance. The dynamic of affection from an eldritch being, whether romantic or, as in damnsmartblueboxes’ prompt, platonic.
And what turns these prompts from my darling, dearest ambiguous vibes of god nonsense into an actually plot is the latin phrase prompt: Nec deus intersit, nisi dignus vindice nodus (inciderit) which translates to “That a god not intervene, unless a knot show up that be worthy of such an untangler” or less literally “When the miraculous power of God is necessary, let it be resorted to: when it is not necessary, let the ordinary means be used.”
All of this mixes into the following:
Shikako’s post-Jashin coma is not JUST mental/spiritual backlash of surviving a hostile outer god’s attack. It is, in fact, a chrysalis for mortal!Shikako to turn into burgeoning eldritch god!Shikabane-hime.
UNFORTUNATELY, it gets interrupted by the entirely well-meaning, and necessarily intervention of Sai—who, even so early on, is so ready to defy Danzo on Shikako’s behalf that it’s not even funny.
The thing is—at least with butterflies—you can’t really stop the metamorphosis without, you know, killing the pupa, and if you, for example, poke a hole in the cocoon, the liquified goop that is on its way into becoming a butterfly just… spills out and dies. Uhoh
Thankfully, our girl is NOT a literal pupa. But her metamorphosis has been interrupted. What’s a devoted disciple of a burgeoning eldritch god to do?
Basically, Sai is the mortal/physical touchstone for evolving deity Shikabane-hime. I do also like playing with the idea that worship can look like dating from an outside POV—after all, whether to a partner or a god, devotion is devotion even if differently flavored.
In the damnsmartblueboxes’ vein of Original Fiction, I once wrote a script playing with the idea that the grieving process can look like a messy break up—it involved a ghost, also—so the above concept is the arguably more lighthearted version of that. I mean, it’s not entirely lighthearted, what with the eldritch god and the cosmic horror but, you know. It’s not sad, per se.
I also, keeping in line with damnsmartblueboxes’ prompt and also my own leanings in regard to canon!DoS Shikako and Sai’s relationship, would make this a platonic fic. Mostly because I think canon!DoS has SO MUCH power over Sai. Like. Again, that devotion. I didn’t make it up. That’s in there. Sai is so ready to defy Danzo’s orders to protect Shikako. The power imbalance is just too much.
I am a multishipper, so I do think there is a version of Sai and Shikako that COULD work romantically. There’s even a version of Sai and eldritch god!Shikako that could work romantically in an AU. But since the brainstorm we’re currently running along is more canon divergence than AU, I think this would work BEST as platonic. Especially to further contrast the cosmic horror under the guise of romance. Like, if it isn’t even at all romantic, just cosmic horror and platonic devotion, that makes the juxtaposition all the greater.
Anyway, as I was saying, the plot part of this is: mortal touchstone/devoted disciple!Sai is a very competent shinobi on his own, but even he can’t deal with [[insert divine level threat here]]. Everyone knows that Shikako has been teaching him fuinjutsu—that they have been getting closer/getting along more so than before—but everyone is surprised when he breaks out what looks to be the Shiki Fujin but instead of summoning the Shinigami it is instead the debut of the Shikabane-hime in full force.
What is the divine level threat? Maybe it’s Jashin again and this time, Shikabane-hime gets to go toe to toe with him rather than just slamming the door in his face. Or maybe it’s moon aliens O_O

Aside from the hilarious, obvious Jelly tantrum Genos shown here, it seems like He is totally immerged himself into Saitama’s life-partner role now: exceptional houseworks are already a bit too much for a supposed-disciple; now financial management for both of them as well? Okay, maybe there are some kind of paper waiting for both of those 2 to sign on Lol
Ps: today I saw Murata-sensei liked this fanart on Twitter, I guess He’s totally aware of what he intended to draw btw :)))

One shot: Kakashi x Sakura.
Secret trainings lead to secret conversations to secret feelings, Will Sakura win this time?
You can't always win.
Tumblr media
"This..." Sakura said, trying to catch her breath, "this has to stop, Sensei."
"What?" Kakashi asked in his dumbfounded bored tone, "What does have to stop, Sa Ku Ra?" he finished rising on his elbows, looking at Sakura from his position under her.
"Sensei, please," she was already sitting next to him, recovering some of her personal space lost moments ago, "you know what I'm talking about, and it has to stop."
"Sakura, let me remind you that you came to me asking for this. I only please your wishes." A close-eyed smile was painted under his mask, and Sakura hated that idiot expression.
"Oh, come on, Kakashi, don't tell me you don't enjoy it too." She was again losing the train of the conversation, and she knew she would lose her point too.
"I've never said I didn't; on the contrary..." Kakashi said, lifting his chin in a very arrogant Hokage way, "but is you the one complaining and asking me to stop what you asked for."
"Because it's unfair!" Sakura pouted, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Ok... Now I'm not following you." Kakashi said, looking straight at her.
"You are impossible, Sensei..." Sakura spoke, looking tenderly at him. "It's unfair that every single night we train you let me win." There, she finally said it.
"Oooh..." Kakashi said, full of surprise, "Wow... Do you...Do you really think I let you win?"
"Yes, I do!" Sakura said, looking at the sky. To look at him at this moment was too hurtful because she was not only feeling frustrated about her skills but because she wasn't capable of making him see her as a woman who was hopelessly in love with her former teacher.
Sakura had to recognise that it was true that she never told him anything nor made any insinuation about her feelings. Even if, with time, they became close friends and shared a special kind of intimate relationship, nothing seemed to evolve into a romantic dynamic between them, and she felt that it was all her fault.
"Maaa~ Sakura, you can't think that I let you win." He seemed confused, caught off guard, like a little boy discovered doing some mischieve, disarming Sakura to her bones.
"Yes!" She began making eye contact for the first time in what seemed a lifetime.
"Ok, tell me, how do I do it, how do I let you win?"
"Let's seee..." Sakura started, "First you are the great Copy Ninja..."
"Ex." Sakura was sure he would make this problematic.
"Ok, ex, but you know, like thousands of jutsus, you mastered the Sharingan, and you are not even an Uchiha. You are the Hokage, you have years of training and fights, and were a prodigy. And your name is like a dead sentence to our enemies."
"That's all in the past, Sakura. You are talking about ages ago." Kakashi said with longing in his eyes.
"Ok, but what about now? Ah?" Sakura attacked again, "I do your medical exams, and you are more vital than ever for the results. Without the Sharingan draining your Chakra, you are stronger, faster and more robust than any young shinobi."
"I guess what you mean by robust is fatter, right?" How was he capable of making her blush like when she was thirteen.
"Sensei!"
"Easy... If I din't know you better I could say you are in love." And again, that infamous smile.
"What? No... I mean..." She was in serious trouble now and was giving away too much about her feelings in a conversation that was supposed to have nothing to do with feelings.
"Sakura..." Kakashi began turning serious again, "why can't you praise yourself for once? Suppose everything you said is true, but I'm not in my twenties anymore, and you are not thirteen, either." Was he noticing her? "You are a young woman full of strength with the same training I once had. You are Tsunade's direct disciple. Your chakra control is outstanding. You are a great doctor. I really don't understand how you can doubt so much about yourself." He looked so intensely into her eyes that she felt like flying or dying. What if she kissed him right there?
Would it be that bad if she kissed Kakashi? Of course, it was out of all limits and boundaries. He was not only the Hokage, but for God's sake, he was him, Hatake Kakashi, and she was just she, after all, the always tiny and invisible Sakura. She was abandoning the conversation once more. Daydreaming about the possibilities of one little forbidden kiss, not realising that, in truth, she was bothered about not losing a training fight combat against Kakashi, which was very ridiculous. He was right. Instead of being proud of herself, she felt her victories as undeserved gifts.
"Sakura... Sakura?" Kakashi said, waving his hand in front of her face. "Are you still here?"
"I'm sorry, what...What were you saying?" Sakura returned to reality and had to remind herself that she was not thirteen anymore.
"I was saying that everything you say about me it's true, and even if it hurts, losing the Sharingan maybe it was a kind of a blessing, but you are the new generation now, and you are better than anyone of us, the old ones."
"Do you really think that, Sensei?" Sakura knew her voice was trembling, and she didn't care. "So you don't cheat on me and let me win?"
"Sakura... I thought you know me better by now..." Kakashi said in his beautiful soft tone, and Sakura was melting right there, "I hate losing. I wouldn't even do it on pourpuse."
"Oh... Ok." She didn't manage to say anything else.
"Besides, as Hokage if I have to put my life in somebody's hands, undoubtedly it would be yours," Sakura noted the soft movement but did nothing about it. Kakashi was tugging a revel strand of pink hair behind her ear. "I bet not even Naruto or Sasuke are competition against you."
"Yeah... them..." She let the phrase hang in the air.
"What about them?" His neutral tone suddenly sounded overly uninterested, even for Kakashi.
And Sakura knew that that was the question, 'what about them'. Especially about Sasuke Uchiha. But should she tell Kakashi her feelings? The truth was that she was spending more and more time with Sasuke, but nothing was coming out of it. Once, it used to be her teenage dream, but now it was her adult nightmare, it was obvious that they were not meant to be, but they were forcing this kind of frozen relationship in which they only walked together for hours in silence without even holding hands.
"Well..."Sakura started looking anywhere but in Kakashi's direction, "you know Naruto, he is doing it fine. He is thrilled with Hinata, I think there is a future there..." Sakura spoke with truth and hope in her words. She loved Naruto and his bright, and she knew he deserved his happy ending.
"Yes, I see that too." Kakashi said with what Sakura understood as longing, but he immediately shifted his position, and everything in him changed, "and Sasuke? I heard you two were dating."
Sakura choked on her words.
"You don't need to answer me, Sa Ku Ra. I just want to be prepared if a Chidori comes flying straight to me if he discovered our little secret." Kakashi joked, and she blushed as if secret training was the equal of a sin.
"I don't think the Chidori is his worst attack right now." She smugly answered.
"Yeah... I thought so." And he didn't say anything else.
The soft summer breeze was hypnotic during the summers in Konoha. Even if it was hot enough, like to swear once or twice, the weather was enjoyable, even more if Sakura was seated by night side by side with his secret love, Hatake Kakashi. Even now, that losing a battle was not the worst thing, but speaking about Sasuke was.
"We..." she started, "We are not dating dating, Sensei."
"What do you mean with dating dating? I'm older than you but not that much, Sakura... I don't think things had changed so much since..." But She interrupted him.
"Don't play smart with me, Sensei," Sakura said exasperated, "I mean that we are not... together, like, you know...like..." she was biting her lower lip to the point of almost bleeding. "We are only knowing each other."
"Don't you already know each other a lot?" Kakashi was doing this so on purpose that it almost felt innocent, but she knew better: pestering her was one of his favourite things.
"Of course we know each other a lot..." It was becoming impossible for her to speak. Where were all her eloquent words when she needed them the most?
"We know as comarades, as friends, as team mates, even as enemies, but..."
"But love and romance are something completely different, right?" And for the first time in a while, she observed his face trying to avoid thinking in the moon reflected in his eyes. "I mean..." He continued, "relationships are something else."
Sakura didn't answer. She only sighed in frustration, wrinkling her nose and forehead like she did when trying to solve something. Sasuke was a puzzle, she was a puzzle, for the love of God, they were a puzzle, and she wasn't even trying half her best to do something about it.
"Sakura?" Kakashi asked in a whisper. "Do you love him?"
"Of course I care for him, Sensei! Why? Why are you laughing at me?" Sakura was already towering over Kakashi, still sitting easily on the fresh green grass. Arms crossed over her chest, angry red face and her foot tapping the floor beneath her.
"Did you hear my question, Sakura? Smile in his voice.
"Yes, and I answered you." Sakura replied stubbornly.
"Yeah... I think you need another round."
And in just one soft movement, Sakura was pinned to the grass below Kakashi's body. Arms over her head entangled painfully delighted with his. Too close to avoid his eyes and cologne but too far and questionable to madly kiss him there. Kakashi got closer to her. His mouth to her ear and the soft fabric of his mask over her neck drove her crazy.
"Care is not love, Sa Ku Ra." He began teasingly, "I didn't think I have to teach you that." And he went back to look into her eyes. "And you were right... You can't always win."
"What?" She retorted, to what statement she didn't know.
"Ma~ Sa Ku Ra! You were right... Maybe sometimes I just let you win."
And in a puff of air, he disappeared, letting Sakura lying down on the grass with her heart beating uncontrollably out of her chest. She was mad. Mad about being cheated, mad about her and Sasuke, mad about her lack of answers and most of all, she was profoundly and crazy mad about Kakashi.
