A Little’s Film’s Review🎬🥰
Today Film: Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird
Tumblr media
As a HUGE fan of Sesame Street I was so excited to see this film! I picked an afternoon to myself, started to regress and popped this on my tv. (Spoiler below!)
Where to watch this: Tubi (free to watch with ads!)
As a huge Sesame Street fan I was excited to see all the colorful and unique characters from Sesame Street in this movie. But some characters had more screen time than others. My favorite characters from Sesame Street are Big Bird, Grover, Oscar and Julia. This film’s main character is Big Bird so he has the most amount of screen time. Oscar plays a huge part in the film as well! Grover, Mr. Snuffleupagus Cookie Monster, Telly, the Count and Bert and Ernie are side characters in the film. But when they are on the screen they provide some hilarious moments. The character I was shocked I didn’t see more was Elmo, who is only seen in a small moment at the end. My other favorite Julia wasn’t introduced yet since this film came out in 1985.
The film has such a sweet message of “Your family doesn’t have to look like you to be your family”. In the film Big Bird is brought away from Sesame Street because he should be living with birds. But he realizes that all his friends at Sesame Street are his true family, despite none of them being birds. Was this film educational? No. But it didn’t have to be. The message taught more than number or letter could ever.
I have to admit, when Big Bird was walking back to Sesame Street I was so worried something was going to happen to him the entire time! I kept jump up from the couch and yelling at the tv for him to watch out or not to go somewhere. He’s so sweet and trusting! I was so worried about him!
I loved seeing the whole family at Sesame Street rally behind saving Big Bird! It was so cute to see them all so worried about him!
There are plenty of funny moments too! Mostly from the Sesame Street fam trying to find Big Bird. From Ernie flying the plane upside down, to Kermit the Frog as a field reporter, to Grover mistaking a yellow car for Big Bird, to Cookie Monster getting so hungry he starts eating the car, to Oscar taking a detour and going to a grouch restaurant. The film had me laughing!
My favorite scene had to be the tossed salad scene at the grouch restaurant! If you haven’t seen it you gotta look it up. I’d die to have been in that restaurant.
The ending is so sweet! I was so relieved and thrilled to see Big Bird’s safe return to Sesame Street and him reunited with everyone.
My little self loved this film! I was so invested in making sure Big Bird got home safely! I also loved seeing all the different character from Sesame Street interacting.
Overall I would give this movie a solid 6/10! If you’ve watched it comment what you loved about it! What should I watch and review next?🤔😁💞

Nunya it’s zoomer Huey, so as you know that Elmo was choked by Larry David on live tv.
Now I hearing that Elmo is a black 3 and half year old child
Now I know Sesame Street was created mostly as a way for inner cities kids can get knowledge as the places their in several lack the resources to let them to learn
Jeez almost like most cities planners never thought about kids and such
But anyways can you look up the idea that Elmo is meant to represent a black boy? Of course Elmo represents all kids now. But I find it interesting as that group of kids are often forgotten.
Perhaps I’m sound weird as I just got off my shift as I wrote this
You're fine I saw that whole thing.
I don't believe that Elmo was put in as a substitute for a black kid, just on the basis that it's Sesame Street and they don't do things like that, or they didn't.
No dancing around things there, the first lesson on death I had was Big Bird bringing a picture he'd drawn of Mr Hooper to him to show him, but Mr Hooper had died.
And Sesame Street handled that in a honest and age appropriate way that made death real but not scary, so if they'd wanted to introduce a black kid Muppet they'd make em a black kid.
All that and I remember Elmo from when I was a kid, before he became "ELMO" and there was nothing like that there either to my memory.
And we had human performers of all kinds even then, back when everyone was supposed to be wanting to treat everyone equally regardless of external factors, which apparently is racist now.
I could be wrong though, so I'll look and regardless of what I see I'm leaving that top bit.
Go easy first.
Elmo Monster is a red Muppet character on the children's television show Sesame Street.[3] A furry red monster who speaks in a high-pitched falsetto voice and frequently refers to himself in the third person, he hosts the last full five-minute segment (fifteen minutes prior to 2017) on Sesame Street, "Elmo's World", which is aimed at toddlers. He was most often puppeteered by Kevin Clash, but since his resignation in late 2012, he has been puppeteered by Ryan Dillon.
However, in 1985, Hunt was so frustrated with the puppet, he squeezed it and threw it at Kevin Clash, who then performed Elmo. Clash said that Elmo should be a character who is kind and loving. Sans says of Clash, "one day in 1985, Kevin Clash, a talented puppeteer, raised him up and brought energy and life into Elmo and from that day forward we would all write for Elmo." Modern Elmo debuted with the Season 17 premiere of Sesame Street, episode 2096 (first aired November 18, 1985, following the release of the Sesame Street film Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird). In the episode, Big Bird is tired of the adults refusing to believe him about Snuffy, so he decides to arrange for them to come to his nest and meet Snuffy, and Elmo offers to help. Snuffy returns, then tells Elmo he had better go home and brush his fur to prepare for the grown-ups' arrival, but Elmo holds on to his snuffle so he cannot go; as such, the adults meet Snuffy for the first time ever. Clash cites a moment later in season 17 (from Episode 2215 in which Elmo packs for an imaginary vacation) as the moment when he "found his voice" as Elmo, and by 1987, he became added to various episodes and product lines. __________________
There's lots more but nothing to indicate he was supposed to be any kind of stand in for a black child, people may be projecting because the guy playing him was a black dude, but didn't start that way so not looking good for that theory.
Before moving on, we'll get to that elephant in the room about the guy that does the voice.
Tumblr media
Since this is the dude doing it now, and there would be hell to pay somewhere if he was actually supposed to be black. _______________
Not gonna vouch for facts DOT net, but with a URL like that I think it's likely they're going to know what they're talking about even if it is obviously a clickbait site.
Tumblr media
OOP maybe this is something
Tumblr media
That's Roosevelt Franklin, not Elmo. So there's another nope.
But as I've said if Sesame Street wanted a black character they wouldn't have used a red monster.
youtube
They'd have made a black human(ish) Muppet. _____________
Sesame Street was created so there could be a quality educational program for kids of all walks of life, it was set where it was set for reasons I don't know but could look up if I felt like it, but likely convenience since that's a easy enough place to see everything that's there with all the shops and stands and what not, gotta be in a urban area for that to work.
Again I could be wrong, but either way.
Elmo isn't black and wasn't meant to be seen as a stand in for a black kid to the best of my knowledge, which now includes the stuff here as well as about 8 other sites I skimmed through.
I think people might be trying to make something bigger than a joke out of a Jewish man having a laugh by attacking a Muppet, wonder if there's anything going on in the world that might be generating that kind of need to misdirect people and make something like that out to be something it's not. ______________________
And finally, I gotta say thank you Elmo.
When you sent that tweet out there you weren't expecting to get the level of truth and honesty you got, but you and the rest of the gang really stepped it up and brought the conversation front in center.
In the most absurd way I can think of.
And even us old's are gonna get some good out of it by revisiting our friends at Sesame Street I think.

OH MAN I JUST HAVE THE SOFTEST SPOT FOR SESAME STREET/JIM HENSON MEDIA THERES SO MANY THOUGHTS!!!!!
Though I desire to watch more Sesame Street one day (once I find any time and energy AHHHHH), I just love characters like Big Bird, Snuffy (yes I'm a Snuffy kin lol), and Elmo (my bro LOVED Elmo when he was really little hehe)
I really miss the VHS tapes that we used to have of Elmo's World and Sesame Street, I remember it being a part of teaching to like fruits and veggies (esp fruits yummy) from a very young age, I thank Grover for that one! Also loved that Spaghetti with Meat Balls song they did there too!
Oh and PLEASE PLEASE go watch Elmo in Grouchland and Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird!! They are absolute underrated classics (esp Elmo in Grouchland since even my parents still love that movie and it's music)!
(also side note: does anyone remember a Christmas Special of some kind where Big Bird was in the middle of a storm at night for some reason (I think it was because he got mad and stormed off from a Christmas Party) and one of the human adults was trying to convince him to go inside? God that shit was sad from what I remember)
Remind me to start watching Sesame Street again GAHHH!!!
----------------------------------------------------
Thank you so very very much for coming by again, this was a ton of fun!
I hope I see you again and have an awesome and beautiful day my friend!!

The Congressional Black Caucus Requests To Meet With The Park's President
Tumblr media
It is undeniable that the recent incident at Sesame Street's theme park, Sesame Place, in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, was highly offensive. The disrespect shown to children of any race should never be tolerated. The experience of discrimination is already distressing for adults, but it becomes even more horrendous when a child is involved. Theme parks are ideal places for children to spend time with family and friends. However, the recent incident reveals that the experience has been tainted. What Happened At Sesame Place? On July 16, two young Black girls were ignored by a costumed character dressed as "Rosita" at Sesame Place. In the viral video posted on Instagram by their mother, Jodi Brown, the character is seen welcoming white families with open arms. A moment later, both black girls extended their arms toward the character, asking for a hug. However, rather than fulfilling their wishes, "Rosita" rejects them and departs.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Jeezy (@__jodiii__) Furthermore, the wearer of that costume presented an inaccurate picture of what "Rostia" is really like. Due to this, those girls may have been misled into believing that the actual character of the show actively discriminates against children of a particular ethnicity. Background On The American Television Series 'Sesame Street' There is no demographic group that Sesame Street does not appeal to. Having premiered in 1969, this show continues to be produced today. It is one of the longest-running shows in the history of American television. Sesame Street is an excellent educational source for preschoolers. In addition to Elmo and Big Bird, many other popular characters are on the show, including Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, and others. Sesame Ready for a Change As a result of this disappointment, the Congressional Black Caucus, led by its chairwoman, Rep Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio), has requested a meeting with the head and general manager, Cathy Valeriano of Sesame Place, per The Hill. "Sesame Street is one of the nation's highest-rated TV shows that, at one time, more than 95 percent of all American Preschoolers watched," The Black Congressional Caucus said. "So, naturally, Sesame Place should be where all children can go to have fun and celebrate. Sadly, that has not been the case." This meeting will focus on how the park plans to execute changes, develop action plans, and provide employee training. “Over the past week, we’ve seen multiple glaring examples of racism coming from the park, including the viral video in which two beautiful little Black girls were blatantly rejected by a character they idolized while white children were embraced,” the members said in a statement. Apology As reported by ABC News, former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland has spoken out about the incident. "So, had that been me, that whole parade would've been in flames," she said. As a result of the outrage surrounding the incident, Sesame Place issued an apology on July 18. According to them, the "Rosita" character has affirmed that the "no" gesture in the video was not intended for any specific individual. "Rosita" was responding to several requests from someone in the crowd who asked her to hold their child for a photo, which is not allowed.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Sesame Place Philadelphia (@sesameplace) This incident has generated a great deal of confusion. According to "Rosita," it was not intentional, but most viewers believe otherwise. Who is in error here? Written by Nikiya Biggs Follow and like FMHipHop on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter!
