aaannnnd we're back at it again with the challenges. the six provided a nice little moment of rest and celebration, but now it's back to the work at hand. luckily the seven has a bit of a more positive cast than the five, perhaps because you've had a moment of hard-won success with the six. because of this, the seven of wands can indicate perseverance, being strong-willed, and maintaining control in the face of difficulty. the seven may also suggest that the challenges you're facing are more external, since this card is also about being protective, defensive, and holding one's ground. this may mean you find yourself needing to justify your process - or even the whole project - to someone, or it may suggest you need to pull back a little and seek internal (rather than external) validation for your work

Seven of Wands & FE3H

The Seven of Wands shows a figure who has a moral high ground and is defending his ambitions against many challenges. He can also be seen as a gifted individual, who sets the standards of their field for others. He will persevere through challenges and competition alike to defend his rightful place at the top. 

I actually see Ladislava defending the Bridge of Myrddin as the moment that represents this card. She’s a gifted and devoted commander, winning countless battles in the first five years of Adrestia’s war. While Adrestia was no longer gaining ground as it was in the past five years, Myrddin is still a winnable battle. It is another chance for Ladislava to set the standards for others and continue being the poster child of Edelgard’s meritocracy. And indeed, during the battle, Ladislava is rather terrifying, possessing superior movement and powerful attacks with her axe. 

I actually really like Ladislava in this role, as it shows how far ambitions can take you, but also the toll it can take on you. Ladislava worked very hard in order to rise through the ranks despite not possessing any noble blood. However, her increased recognition by the Emperor and awareness of her social standing makes for very uneven ground. She is put on the front lines in a high risk battle. We see in the card that the ground the figure stands upon is uneven, although raised. Just like the figure, Ladislava is raised above her peers due to her skills and the favour of other’s ambitions. However, this is uneven footing for her, as she is always aware of her original station. While ambition and resolve has brought her high, the challenges will never cease until she falls.
