Trying super hard not to obsess over the deliberate choice of having Oliver be dressed in a costume that has very heavy themes of Puck/Robin Goodfellow AND King Oberon for his birthday party while Felix has cheap golden wings strapped to his back in an outfit that just SCREAMS Titania (despite his mother being implicitly dressed as such-) in the way it symbolises Titania's refusal to reconcile or reunite with Oberon throughout the plot of A Midsummer Night's Dream, as well as her disdain for Puck and his tricks, which is further supported by Felix's own choices to make his costume the bare minimum for an event celebrating Oliver and his refusal to forgive or forget Oliver's lies.
A theme/symbolism which is only further emphasised with Felix doing the best he can to avoid him at all costs and Oliver refusing to let him do so for his own selfish needs and wants-

Hey everyone, this was an image i did for an annual illustration competition over at @foliosociety, an amazing design and publishing studio in London which does incredible special editions of notable books with top illustrators. Unfortunately my image didn't place within the top 20, but if you take a look at the longlist youll see the competition was fierce this year! I'll try again next year.
We were asked to illustrate a scene from the short story, "The Flyers of Gy" by Ursula K. Le Guin about a humanoid society that sometimes develop wings and risk their lives to fly.
The image I chose to create was from a scene in the story explaining one of the tragic plays that came out of that culture. I figured this would be a chance to do some high drama and gothic romance atmosphere. I worked really hard on it, and ill be throwing up some process videos this week.

nearly halfway thru shakespeare's plays and i've been mainly saving the histories for last but recently watched david tennant's richard ii and really recommend it for fans of him (as well as hamlet, but that's more well known). he decided to play him very queerly and androgynously, and he wears this amazing long hair with flowing fabrics. there are some good monologues from the queen and others about sorrow - i suggest anyone ctrl+f the word "sorrow" and read those bits if nothing else - & there are some surprisingly progressive speeches from the king himself.
for percy shelley fans like myself, i must say that i knew shelley was fond of reciting the words "let us sit upon the ground / and tell sad stories of the death of kings," to his friends, a reference that not everyone would really get but he loved too much to care. but it wasn't until tennant spoke those words -- and i didn't even know that line was from this play, but as soon as i heard them -- that i felt their power, the same power shelley must have felt if he ever saw it live, or the power he must have sensed when he read it. i got so excited when i recognized those words. then i realized why that became one of his favorite monologues ever. its such a fiery shelleyan monologue and tennant did it real justice - for me it was the highlight.

Translating Xiao’s “Hello” Voiceline
This line’s formal tone and word choice in particular makes him sound like an immortal figure in a xianxia drama. It’s hard to convey in English, but the best equivalent in English speech would be a bard character going all Shakespherean (so like, Fischl, I guess). I’ll include both a Shakespearean-esque rendition, and a base translation in prose.

The translation of this particular line did not do Xiao justice at all. The archaic tone is completely lost, the intense scenarios are watered down and replaced, and the last line forgoes his longer title along with his implied contract-abiding loyalty.
In addition, in his profile specifically (rather than quests), due to the voice acting, Xiao’s Chinese voice gives the image of a distant/cold and calm young man, while his English voice makes him sound like an edgy teenager.

Rendering It into Shakespearean English
There’s no way to truly capture the imagery and connotations invoked in Chinese, but a close localization would be to write it in Shakespearean English. The straight translation in prose is too long, and there’s no rhythm in it.
To recap, here’s information about Xiao which we can infer from his speech
States the absolute worst-case scenarios (ambush, war, natural disasters, evil deities and beasts, enemies, etc) as plausible reasons for being summoned
an Adepti (immortal in the xianxia genre) due to his formal speech
