secret posts for tumblr cuz i dont like posting long rambley blog things to twitter :3 decided to do the shiny pokemon alongside the masterball which might against all odds after 22 years be one of if not The first regular ass items retexture...

the textures are all for the most part just ripped from pokemon stadium 2 which is fair considering melee's development time and also the considerably lower necessary poly count for a little spawnable dude. it also means that i can just use whatever ps2 does for shinies and LUCKILY it has that weird ass HSL system that means i can just grab the textures off of spriters resource (large shoutout to my man Mr. C for extracting them so i don't have to) and wiggle the colors around correctly and just chuck them in. i did have to grab the master ball texture from some furret minigame for authenticity. both this texture and the pokemon colors are different to modern colors but melee players are either too zoomer to care or too old to know they changed, so it's fine. the master ball wouldn't work on the regular uv so i had to fiddle around in blender and i figured i might as well add a Little detail but i'm p sure this is my first actual model swap so i probably still fucked up...i know some stuff didn't import correctly but it looks mostly fine now.

melee pokemon fun facts:

ditto has a unique texture for his Goo

porygon is made of solid color in melee. seemingly all the other pokemon in melee use tiny 8x8 solid color textures for bodyparts of a single color (something that stadium did) but porygon is Properly done with like vertex lighting and shit, probably because his original texture was just a fake shiny thing so it would have looked ugly with a proper lighting engine

unown models don't show up in hsdraw idk why!!! probably bc there are 26 of them. it works in DAT wizard tho

snorlax has a yellow mout in the viewer but i think that might also be hsdraw dying

a lot of textures with partial transparency like goldeen fins or porygon eyes are very subtly different in melee, i'm not sure if its the melee dev team cleaning them up or if its a case of the originals being compressed and losing some of that in stadium, but regaining it in a more sophisticated engine. cant say but the textures still line up so idc

hey remember what i said about unown? its not even differently colored so i dont have to change it anyway

clefairy is the only pokeball pokemon in melee with unique textures for its shiny form, and i have to be specific because some are not in melee (like gyrados) and some are not from pokeballs (like jigglypuff)

An “Unknown” Discovery

A/N: first time writing a tickle fanfic, ya’ll!! apologies if it looks bad or just sorta meh, but despite all that, i hope you still enjoy!

Summary: Gold begins to feel sorrow the more he thinks about seeing his mother again. Upon noticing this, the Unown attempt to cheer up the child, but they make a sudden discovery that might just work.

Gold’s eyeless sockets stared off into space as the group of Unown floated about. He couldn’t help but think how long he’s been staying in this grave for. It felt like years, but it’s been at least a month since his death.

Darkness surrounded him, and the only thing that made him feel less lonely were the chirping sounds of red-eyed Unown communicating with each other, a few of them glancing at Gold. He couldn’t tell if these were their shiny forms, not having seen a real one before.

And speaking of them, if he had listened to those signs of what they were trying to tell him when he entered the Bellsprout Tower, he wouldn’t have ended up limbless in the first place, yet curiosity had gotten the best of him. He should’ve realized what was wrong and left back home safe. Safe with…

“…Mom..”

Gold looked down as guilt rushed through him the moment he remembered his mother. He had almost forgotten about her, and this was all his fault. She must be feeling so sad back at her home, thinking she might be the worst mother ever.

He begins to reminisce about those calm times where she’d make him his favorite grilled cheese sandwiches, the time when he showed his newly-chosen Cyndaquil to her and how she was proud. All of the memories made him want to see her again, but there was no other way. He was stuck here, possibly forever.

What if Mom soon forgets about him like he never existed? What if she does something to hurt herself out of guilt? What if she-

A sudden noise snapped the child out of it, causing him to quickly turn his head around only to see an Unown in the alphabet shape of an A letter staring at him. He was deep in thought that he hadn’t noticed the groups of Unown looking at him with seemingly worry.

A tear ran down his face from his sockets. The red-eyed creatures began forming some words together, the sentence appearing with what he assumes to be them asking:

‘ARE YOU OKAY?’

“I…” He spoke, more black tears forming as he recieves a certain memory of his mother and him hugging. This broke him.

“I-I miss my mommy!” Gold yelled, bursting into tears. The Unown exchanged looks with each other, seeing the sight of a crying child in despair. One of them floated over to him before nuzzling against his shoulder as a way of comfort.

A few more decided to join in on comforting the boy, sounds of chirping emitting from them as if they were telling him everything would be alright. Gold’s sobbing quiets down as he notices the Pokèmon attempting to make him feel better. It seems to be working, but not so much.

“I miss mommy s-so much.. I wish I c-could see her again…” He stuttered. The Unown did love to play around with him like a puppet, but they weren’t always so torturous or heartless. They had a soul too.

Gold’s crying suddenly pauses with a hitch of breath as he flinched the second he felt a tingling sensation. His visible white pupils looked over to spot a W-shaped Unown near his neck.

The red-eyed group of alphabets stared with curiosity in their eyes for a while before a snicker disturbed the silence as the W-shaped Unown nuzzled against Gold’s neck again.

“Q-Quihit that!”

It stops with a surprised chirp. The group float away from the limbless child and huddle up, seemingly discussing about something. Gold becomes a little confused, tilting his head. What were they planning to do with him? Whatever it is, he hopes they haven’t changed back to their old torturous selves.

The Unown, now having finished with their unintelligible conversation, turn around to Gold before forming into a message. And what it turned out to be was… unexpected.

‘ARE YOU TICKLISH?’

A blush shows on his face upon seeing the question. Did they really ask him that? He sat there silent with the red-eyed Unown staring, patiently waiting for an answer.

“Mmmayybee…?” He answers with slight embarrassment.

The creatures exchanged looks before slowly approaching him creating another message.

‘LIES’

This one sounded somewhat more of a tease than a threat. Gold tries to back up but remembers he has no arms or legs. All he could do was flail his “arms” about, unaware of one of the Unown sneaking up behind him with the simple goal to go inside his jacket through the hood.

“N-No! I’m not lying! I-I’m not that ticklish, plus I think I’m feeling better noOHOHOW-!” Gold gets interrupted by the sudden feeling of what felt like a Spinarak crawling inside his clothing, squirming around while giggling. “Sstahahap! G-Gehehet outta thehere!”

The red-eyed Pokèmon from inside of the jacket chirped, brushing against the child’s sides as it scattered around. Gold tries to hold in his laughter, but to no avail.

“Pfftahaha! NaHAHAt thehere!” He (somehow) kicked his “legs”, trying to shake out whatever was in his clothing. One of the Unown from the spectating group floated over to participate in the tickle attack, nuzzling against the young champion’s neck, earning more giggles from him.

“WAHAIT-! Nohohot yohohou too!” He yelped, trying to scrunch up his shoulders to stop the Unown, but he hesitated since he was worried he might accidentally hurt it.

More from the floating group joined as they began going through the hood of his jacket, tickly sensations from the stomach catching Gold off guard which resulted in him falling over on his back, now laying on the ground laughing. All worries about his mother soon went away.

“Plehehehease, hahahAVE MEHEHERCY! BAHAHAHA!” The feeling of nuzzles suddenly turned into wiggling fingers skittering at his armpit. Whatever could be doing that, he assumes it might be the same W-shaped Unown that tickled his neck. “AHAHANYWHERE BUHUT THEHEEHRE!” He plead, shaking his head while giggling like the child he was.

Gold turns his head to the other side, and of course the Unown had to make this embarrassing message in case they got his attention.

‘TICKLE TICKLE’

He wished he had his arms back permanently just to hide the growing blush on his face.

“OHOHOHOH *hic* SHUSH, WIHIHIHILL *hic* YAHAHAHA!” He hiccuped, unable to speak whilst in hysterical laughter. The red-eyed Pokémon saw this as their cue to stop as to avoid going overboard, stopping their playful tickling before exiting out of the jacket to let him catch his breath.

Gold laid on the ground for a moment, glancing around at the letters surrounding him seeing if he was still alright. It didn’t take too long for the phantom tickles to cease before another group of Unown assisted in getting Gold back up.

Upon being pushed up from the ground, his hat falls off his head. The creatures take notice of this before picking it up, spelling out ‘HERE’.

“Thank you..” He thanked them as they carefully put the hat back on his head. The Unown happily chirped, now spelling ‘HUG?’ as an offer.

He nods with a smile, allowing the group to huddle around him as their own way of hugging him, one of them nuzzling his neck making him chuckle.

Gold may not have his mother around, but he’s at least fine with being accompanied by red-eyed letters that aren’t so soulless than he thought.

the unowns lead the trio.... it feels like forever.... but eventually.... a figure... no, two figures .... are seen in the distance..... on closer look.... it seems to be.... me!!! hi!!! and also.... a shiny celebi... that seems to be missing the right half of its body........ the celebi notices the trio and the unowns.... then floats to them.... i follow the celebi... and then i notice HURRY in bery's arms! i walk faster and get my cyndaquil..... i thank beryllium a lot and uhmmn.... am also crying.... because i feel bad about accidentally leaving HURRY behind.... :c -🖤 (ouhhhmmnn.... this ones long..... sorry)

Beryllium is dead tired at this point. his side aches from where he fell on it, and his legs are weak. but Blaziken chirps loud enough to snap them out of kyans stupor, and they finally register what’s in front of them.

the Celebi brought to mind a memory: before his namesake’s corruption, when kyan was still a full-fledged trainer. the sweltering heat of Groudon’s cave, how the ground burned their knees when he collapsed after the battle, and the weight in his hand when he woke up, with one Master Ball of 3 filled with a Pokemon. kyan was so happy, and so excited to find Kyogre as well. but things had gone south, and now he would never have his battle with Kyogre…

HURRY looks up at Beryllium, using their flames to gently alert them. kyan didn’t even notice the tears in their eye. Bery looks down and nods, then looking back to the Celebi. the shiny Pokemon was missing half of it’s body, and that immediately made his curiosity perk up. Are you like me? Are you left incomplete too? Did someone give you everything, and take it away too? but Beryllium kept their thoughts to themselves.

Blaziken was all too happy to see you again, despite the circumstances. they gladly chattered away as you approached, happy to see a familiar face after walking for forever. Bery just smiled at that. Blaziken was always very excitable, especially with you. Beryllium let you take HURRY back, glad to return the small Pokemon.

He tries their best to tell you that it’s okay, you don’t have to be sorry, accidents happen. Blaziken chirps in, recalling the time Bery had left them at home while almost falling down a cliff. Beryllium just gives a lopsided smile to the Pokemon, muttering under their breath about how Blaziken said they wouldn’t tell.

kyan doesn’t know how to react when you start crying, though. he hasn’t interacted with another person in what feels like years. but Blaziken is all too happy to comfort you, leaving Beryllium awkwardly patting your shoulder as a sort of condolence.

guess who went to the Pokemon Go “Safari Zone” in Montreal, QC, Canada yesterday!!

very happy to finally catch Tropius (a regional limited to Africa) and lots of Unown! (well, 5 letters anyways lol.) The weather was beautiful and i got to see a little bit of Montreal. but the event itself? er.. good, but not great...

plenty of Tropius and Unown letters Q, U, E, B, C

but the novelty wore off after a few hours

only 17 other species appeared, plus Nincada in quests... only half of them i was interested in finding shinies or collecting candies for

there were probably 100 or so pokestops, all with quests, but 80-90% of the quests were Nincada, which i didn’t need.

the other quest encounters were all stuff that was spawning anyways, so seemed pointless to me. i think i found a total of 6-7 item quests.

there was a Sinnoh stone quest, and i literally found only one in the entirety of the safari zone. one.

PRO: there was a string of pokestops that were “Memory Lane” and had all the previous loading screens, which was kinda cool!

but basically, after a few hours, i just ended up walking in literal circles (the path was a loop) and seeing the same 19 mons over and over. i had nothing else to do except shiny checking (and high IV hunting), which got frusterating and tiresome really quick. at first i was only checking for the 6 i wanted, then i was just checking everything because i was bored. i was ready to leave about 4 hours in, but i stayed basically out of desperation for getting shinies lmao. (never did get shiny Sneasel, fml.)

whereas a lot of people said they had 15-30 shinies total, i only caught 7, and only 2 of them i actually wanted lmao

and like i totally get shinies are RNG, and i just had bad luck or whatever - disappointing but not the end of the world. what disappointed me most is the fact that i only saw the same 19 species the entire 6 hours, and that the quests were such garbage.

the main reason i attended this event was because i only live 2-3 hours away, and because i had never explored the city before. i would never have driven further or paid more than the $20 per ticket for such an event, not even for Tropius. it was convenient for me, and i’m hoping to get good trades out of my extra Tropius and Unown, but otherwise? not the most amazing event.

New Pokemon - What We know about it so far:

1. It’s body looks like gray Ditto.

2. It seems to be rather small.

3. It has a Shiny form which has darker head.

4. Some footage shows it has red tail similar to that of Pikachu and Mimikyu.

5. Has its own cry.

6. It seems to be related to Pokemon that are known for changing appearance: Kecleon and Ditto.

7. Because of #6 its powers may be related to illusions (eye-shaped head) or transformations.

8. Its number (which is rather big) suggest that if it is Gen VIII Pokemon, then it’s either:

a. a Legendary,

b. a Mythical - small and (oddly) cute

c. an Ultra Beast - odd design

or simply:

d. regular Pokemon with strong relation to Legendaries (like Unown).- It spawned a lot in Pokemon Go while Legendaries are Raid Pokemon and Mythical are rewards for challenges.

9. It is maybe from outer space.

10. Its possible types are most likely Normal, Steel or Psychic, judging by its design.

11. I’m sorry for my English.

I have a box of Pokémon labeled “trade evolutions;” currently, other than things I’ve obtained by trading from it, it contains a couple of things which could evolve were they traded holding an item (a Slowpoke with a King’s Rock, a Porygon, maybe eventually a Scyther with a metal coat). I recalled having a Swirlix with Whipped Dream (evolves to Slurpuff) and proceeded to trade things until I obtained a male Gliscor and a female Weavile. Thus, my Mountain Kalos dex is “complete” (it’d be complete if I also got a female Gliscor and if the Weavile was male, as I’d already seen a female). Other than those two formes, that just leaves me with Aegislash to complete my Kalos dex (the entire thing).

I have a Doublade and it is holding a Dusk Stone. I plan on evolving it after I beat the Elite Four, as Aegislash are valuable but I wanted a Doublade on my team. (It helps that I want a really good Doublade, so will be breeding.)

In other words, I only have two things left to trade for in order to finish my National (i.e., full) Pokédex: Winter Coat Deerling (or Sawsbuck) and Unown letter R. I mean, sure, there are others I want for which I’d have to trade (a real Celebi, my mythics back, Unown letters C, F, H, and J and the punctuation marks), but that’s not strictly necessary.

I’m looking at the possibility of a shiny dex and thinking, “You people are masochistic. No, thank you!” I’m already almost at 315 hours of gameplay (most of that from trading) and am cringing at the thought of how much more time I’d have to spend trading and breeding just for shinies. Neopets had brushes, for fuck’s sake!
