What if both Sam and Gabriel decided to propose at the same time?

Gabriel would go to Dean, maybe ask for permission(?) but mostly ask for advice on how to do it because he’s aware that he is a bit over the top and he doesn’t want to do that and ruin his chances.

Sam would have gone to Dean, but Dean would have definitely teased him so he goes to Cas instead. The issue is (as we have seen in the past) Sam and Cas tend to go a tad overboard, and Sam would definitely want a proposal that he felt matched Gabriel’s style.

So in the end Sam has this over the top, stupid, glittery proposal that would definitely make Gabriel cry and Gabriel has this really simplistic cute proposal that would also make Sam cry but both plans can’t exist simultaneously.

Dean and Cas obviously want to see how their plans pan out and excitedly run to tell each other what they have done like the silly husbands they are and that’s when they work out how horrifically wrong it could all go and just decide to see what happens because they don’t want to ruin the surprise.

In the end, after all the plans have blown up, they both nervously ask at the same time, only for Sam to jinx Gabriel out of habit and then they just stare at each other basically start laughing/crying and neither of them actually ever say yes but they still end up married.

Years later at like two am Gabriel suddenly realises that Sam never actually said yes and freaks out all did you even want to marry me? And Sam, who is barely coherent after being shaken awake, just wants sleep and is so confused as to what's happening because how could Gabriel ever question Sam loving him when they are literally lying on top of each other in their shared bed, with the two dogs that are spoiled enough to be their kids at their feet.

I overall agree, as always, with your very balanced evaluation of the current state of play. But I also think tickets for that particular show will always be a hot sale in this fandom, either because it will be just up some people's alley (Mordor - I am amazed at the stupidity of their discussing the concept and some of them never heard of Tolkien: mind boggles), or because of the collective trauma/Stockholm syndrome many of us, here, still display. What I mean by that is very simple: for eight years now, we, shippers have been hostages of that Narrative and when something happens along those lines, we will surely react, giving all its toxicity renewed space and airtime. I am not judging anybody, here, because this is only human (and to many, the trauma is palpable) and there is nothing to judge. This is, however, a well-known group behavior dynamic that never fails to deliver. What she did was simply to double down on her PDA. But the experiment failed, because even five years after that Remarkable Week-end, the man still can't be arsed to show any organic enthusiasm or even involvement in his whereabouts. Meanwhile the funeral for a dead billionaire queen who did nothing to help anyone is set to be the most expensive funeral in the history of the world.

Nearly 300,000 people are homeless in England alone.

The NHS (National Health Service) without which many would not be alive, is being killed by the government, for the benefit of the private sector.

The current unelected government is trying to take away free prescriptions for people over 60, most of whom are already struggling/dying because of energy and food bills.

The energy companies are making $100s of BILLIONS in profits while their charges soar. 100,000s of people will become ill or die because of this.

Public transport is an overpriced fiasco.

Small businesses are dropping like flies while bloated corporations continue spreading their tentacles.

Climate change is causing increasing devastation, yet this latest sham of a government overturned the fracking ban before the queen was even cold(er), and they want to go back on other commitments.

Covid infection and death rates have been at all-time highs for months, but you'd think everything was fine.

The bulk of the mainstream media is biased, corrupt, and increasingly resembles the output of North Korea, from a capitalist-monarchist-fascist slant.

Anti-monarchist protestors are being arrested. Though that hasn't stopped the very vocal protests in some places.

Another unarmed black man, Chris Kaba, is shot to death by the Met police, while racists fall over each other to defend this.

Meanwhile the UK's racist anti-immigration juggernaut continues, but that's okay because the Home Office has just been handed from one god-awful brown fascist and racism enabling woman politician to another (Patel to Braverman). Being a woman and not white (version 2) however means that there's nothing to see here, if you like artificial, token progress that's like a flowery throw rug over a rotting corpse.

Anyone with long term illness/disability continues to be persecuted - and let's not forget that the Tory governments capitalist response to covid just added over 2 million and counting people suffering from long covid.

If the UK - England in particular - was an animal, it would be put down for suspected rabies.
