February 28th of '23
There is nothing to look forward to. A bland monotonous routine. I forgot to make my daily call home. But well nobody is bothered, so chuck it. I made two cups of tea, one in the morning and one in the evening, and only one of the two tasted like the chai Maa used to make in our old kitchen. It is a comfort I seek even if I am hundreds of miles from home.
I spent the entire day sitting next to my room's mottled window. I watched the sun roll in and roll out in an anti-clockwise motion. I've been told sunlight exposure helps with depressive immobility and this time I'm reaching out for help.
I filled three new pages in my journal. And if you have never done it before, let me tell you it is not as easy as it seems. The whiteness of the sheets is vast and gnawing. I read a self help post online that said every time you've the urge to contact someone you shouldn't, make a diary entry instead. So far, I'm doing well, or at least making an effort.
I'm an inconvenience to people I fall in love with. And I'm trying to not bother them with my feelings anymore. I've realised that I can't love someone who has turned a blind eye to me. Perhaps my love is hideous as well. Because why else would they run away in such haste? God only knows because the last person who could have given me an answer refuses to meet my eyes.
It's 1:01 a.m., and I'm almost done with a book I started in late December. And the most bittersweet part of those three pages I wrote today is-
"I'm actually capable of talking myself into calling you but I won't because you’ve made things as clear and as torturous as the blank page of my diary. Some people are not simply worth it. And I'll keep telling myself that until it fits in my head."
