A detail about the Peacebreakers in Providence. (translated + spoilers)
Tumblr media
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Overseas Research Department Field Survey Team/Peace Breaker Official activity period: 2098/04~2113/04
A unit that obtains and manipulates information useful to Japan from other countries. Its main mission is to enter other countries, gather information, carry out sabotage operations, and provide weapons and operational support to anti-government organizations who support the Japanese government. Regarding anti-government support operations, operations were carried out through domestic third-party organizations
(Example 1). It has been confirmed that it was provided to and expanded to the government and rebel forces of the former Southeast Asian Union (commonly known as SEAUN) (see corresponding data 04231 for details). Through "monitoring"derived from [...] The members were selected from among the soldiers who belonged to the Special Forces of the National Defense Force, based on the Sibyl System's advanced decisions, and from among them, those who had a particularly strong sense of national pride were selected. Establishment: Wave After its establishment, the company did some original work. Main strategies and execution records. 2099_Conflict within the Union of Southeast Asia

In June 2118, the decision was made to dismantle the unit, and in the same month, the whereabouts of the unit commander and training staff went missing.
In October 2118, independent activity was confirmed, and it was completely destroyed. To this day, it is said that its range has expanded to include Japan, Northern Russia, and the Russian Federation. Tonami is said to have been the general manager since the company's founding.

***
Sibyl itself is promoting conflicts to expand itself, and then denying asylum to the refugees which is why they're confined to Dejima/Kyushu. Sibyl lets MFA do the dirty work and it's obvious that Sibyl just turns a blind eye to this because it benefits their colonisation approach. I wonder what Kogami's thoughts will be when he comes to realise that his "democratisation" in Siam Reap (Psycho Pass Movie) was just a part of Sibyl's grand plan. Also Kona Island? Didn't Rutaganda and his mercenaries live on an island? The knowledge that Sibyl would let the world suffer, after having seen the true effects of it in his journey abroad and that probably every person he met or lost on his journey (including the people that Tenzing lost) was suffering due to Sibyl's duplicity. In Case 3 Novel, Frederica is investigating the Peacebreakers in Tibet-Himalaya and Garcia by extension. Honestly, Kogami Shinya seeing the horrors of war, trying to help people and then returning to become a cog in the System is a tragic enough ending for me. I guess this was the meaning of that painting in that room. (The Abyss, I assume?)
Tumblr media
Anyhow, I'm on my fourth rewatch (first time with subs so thank god I can follow the dialogues), and Sibyl has a knack of grinding my gears (pun intended), I've come to despise the System as much as Kogami. I'll delve into a proper review later, for now just accept my ramblings. I have 10,000 thoughts on Akane too, who in this movie punched me right in the heart, honestly I don't know how Akane-chan is so strong. I admire her grit.

No quiero saber.

Reflection 27/11/23
School
Ended my last 2 papers today, it's been a long and tiring 14 weeks of school. I remember feeling quite excited at the start of sem then half way through the sem i felt like the pace of school was alittle too slow and now that it has finally ended.
There were many up and down moments through this sem but nonetheless i give thanks because i know that God has been with me through it all. He blessed me with friends who were there to support me and who always kept me in prayer. (Received a prayer text before my second paper, i GDLL fr. 🥹)
Mission: Cambodia
This is my second STM and first to a further country. We are all new to each other in this team. Met the team today to plan and finalised the details.
While travelling home, i felt very fearful. Firstly, idk how well i'll be able to adapt to the team through the whole 6 days. Secondly, I'll be sharing testimony in the Christmas party that we will be hosting. Will be sharing the biggest and heaviest part of my life, never thought that i would be sharing this as a testimony but now i am. Lastly, i am unsure how everything will turn out despite us having a concrete plan.
After all the planning, we've concluded that this STM trip is one that would require all of us to be faithful and be in tune with what the spirit wants to do. In Siam Reap, there is nothing planned and it's a new city that we will be heading to. This would require us to be ever more sensitive to what the spirit wants to do through us to the city.
Prayer
God, i need you. Give me the courage to speak, not my story but yours. God, i pray that as i speak of what you've done in my life, may you use this to touch and speak to many hearts. God, help me and the team to be ever more sensitive to what you wanna speak to the Cambodians. Remind me that my role is to plant and water, remind me to trust everything into your hands and not mine. Amen.

Siam Reap (Day 1)
It was Pchum Benh holiday in Cambodia for a week. Uncle Alex and myself decided to visit Siam Reap. We woke up really early to catch a bus from Phnom Penh. I was told the bus ride only takes 6 hours but it ended up 8 hours. Why? Because they kept stopping to drop off passengers. And there is no highway to get there. It's mostly passing by village roads that are uneven.
I slept through the bus journey as I wasn't entirely well. But Uncle Alex was enjoying the scenic of the life in Cambodia. Apparently it reminds him of his younger days when Malaysia was once like this. By the paddy fields with bulls, pigs walking wild in an open area and kids just playing outside the house.
As we reach Siam Reap, I starting to compare between the two towns; Siam Reap and Phnom Penh. I must say, Siam Reap is much cleaner and is filled with trees at most places. The people here are much friendlier and roads are better developed compared to Phnom Penh. But sadly, there's not much develop in Siam Reap. More like a cowboy town.
We stay by the pub street and walk around to find dinner.
Tumblr media
I googled and found Khmer food and had a good review. Decided to give a try and I must say, it was so good!
Tumblr media
And the best part was, it's cheap! Really cheap!
That's was mostly what day 1 in Siam Reap is about because half the day was spend on the bus!

Here is a brief timeline of the history of Cambodia:
Prehistory:
- Archaeological evidence suggests that humans have lived in what is now Cambodia for at least 6,000 years, with early civilizations including the Funan and Chenla kingdoms.
9th-13th century:
- The Khmer Empire was established in the 9th century, with its capital at Angkor. The empire was known for its impressive architecture and engineering, including the construction of Angkor Wat and other temple complexes.
- The Khmer Empire reached its peak in the 12th century, with King Jayavarman VII expanding the empire's territory and overseeing the construction of many new temples and public works.
The Khmer Empire was a powerful state that existed in Southeast Asia from the 9th to the 15th century. The empire was centered in what is now Cambodia and extended into parts of present-day Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Khmer Empire was known for its impressive architecture, engineering, art, and culture.
- The Khmer Empire was founded in 802 CE by King Jayavarman II, who established his capital at Roluos, near present-day Siem Reap in Cambodia.
- The Khmer Empire reached its peak in the 12th century under the reign of King Suryavarman II, who oversaw the construction of Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world.
- Angkor Wat, along with other temple complexes such as Bayon and Ta Prohm, were built using advanced engineering techniques and were adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures. These temples are now popular tourist attractions and are considered some of the greatest architectural achievements in human history.
- The Khmer Empire was a Hindu-Buddhist state, with the rulers and elite class adhering to Hinduism and Buddhism being the dominant religion among the common people.
- The Khmer Empire was known for its irrigation systems, which allowed for the cultivation of rice and other crops in large quantities. This contributed greatly to the empire's prosperity and allowed for the growth of its urban centers.
- The Khmer Empire declined in the 13th and 14th centuries due to a combination of factors, including climate change, environmental degradation, and political instability.
- The empire was eventually conquered by the Thai kingdom of Ayutthaya in the 15th century, marking the end of the Khmer Empire as a major power in Southeast Asia.
The legacy of the Khmer Empire can still be seen in modern-day Cambodia, from the country's distinctive architecture and art to its cultural traditions and religious practices. The empire's accomplishments continue to inspire admiration and awe, and its ruins and monuments are recognized as important cultural and historical sites by both Cambodians and people around the world.
15th-19th century:
- The Khmer Empire declined in the 15th century, with the capital city of Angkor being abandoned. Cambodia became a vassal state of neighboring kingdoms, including Siam (now Thailand) and Vietnam.
- In the 19th century, Cambodia became a protectorate of France, which exerted significant influence over the country's politics and economy.
20th century:
- Cambodia gained independence from France in 1953, with Prince Norodom Sihanouk becoming the country's first independent ruler.
- Sihanouk was overthrown in a coup in 1970, and Cambodia became embroiled in the Vietnam War and the larger Cold War conflict.
- In 1975, the Khmer Rouge, a communist guerrilla group led by Pol Pot, seized power in Cambodia and began a brutal regime that resulted in the deaths of an estimated 1.7 million people.
- The Khmer Rouge regime was overthrown in 1979, and Cambodia was placed under Vietnamese occupation. A civil war continued in the country throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
- In 1991, a peace agreement was signed between Cambodia's warring factions, leading to the establishment of a new government and the beginning of a period of reconstruction and development.
21st century:
- Cambodia has experienced significant economic growth in the 21st century, with tourism, garment manufacturing, and agriculture among its key industries.
- The country has also faced criticism for its human rights record, including restrictions on political freedoms and the suppression of opposition voices.
- In 2020, Cambodia faced significant economic and social challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the country experiencing a sharp decline in tourism and other key sectors.
