Siddy’s hot takes #5 :3
I dunno how hot this is, but I wanted to bring this series back :3.
There’s a difference between being powerful, and being a good fighter. And of course, being both
For example, Adam and Cinder are powerful. You CAN NOT deny that. But their fighting styles rely on one aspect of them. Adam’s over reliance on his semblance and sword, and Cinder’s over reliance on Maiden powers. Compare this to say, Blake. Who is a good fighter, but isn’t the most powerful member of her team. No shade to Blake I adore her. And that could be argued but let’s not get into that. Anyway, she takes advantage of all her tools. Her ribbon, when she had it, her semblance, any dust she has, her environment. Blake is a very good, competent fighter BECAUSE she doesn’t rely on one aspect of her kit
Now let’s compare all 3 Adam, Cinder and Blake, to Penny. Who is both powerful, AND a good fighter. Comparing Penny to Cinder, which the shows seem to want us to do, is interesting. Because Cinder, obviously, relies SOLELY on her Maiden powers in combat. Penny, in comparison, uses her Maiden powers sparingly. She DOES use them. But she moreso uses them to give herself a buff. A small comparison, Penny still has her old weapons, Floating Array. Cinder discarded Midnight long ago. Penny incorporates both Floating Array AND her Maiden powers in her fighting style, something Cinder couldn’t do even if she wanted to.

Desert Creature
By Nellie Evergreen, an original piece
Content warnings: Body horror, vague but descriptive violence in the form of murder, self-hatred/vanity
-
The flat expanse seems to stretch on for miles and miles, not a single dune or ruin to be seen as far as the horizon will allow me to. One gloved hand shades the sun from the hollow pits of my eye-holes, preventing the light from glancing off of bleached cheekbones and into my sensitive lenses. I can feel, as sure as the sun burning lasers into my faded raincoat, the hopeful watch of my friends, hoping for any good news on our path.
I turn and shake my head- telling them there are no structures in sight. They are quiet, and I am thankful I can’t see their dismayed expressions. Just dark eye-holes and the whistle of wind picking up sand and pelting it at our bodies.
“Then let’s keep going,” Nadia says out of the quiet, stepping to the front to lead the way down the hill. “That just means we’ve got a long walk ahead, so let’s start now.” Everyone follows suit, shuffling over the peak of the dune and down, down, down onto the flat.
We travel quietly and nobody speaks. There is the crinkle of coats crusted in sand, the wind and the crunch of soft dust underfoot, and sometimes gentle breaths of friends who need an extra gulp of air. It is hot. I don’t blame them.
Just ahead of me are Snap and Button, holding hands gently. I admire their affection, and I smile. They have each other. It’s rather darling. They were together when Nadia found them, frail and dying under the feeble tarp of a tent. They are together now, happier and safer in the group. Snap pulls away for a second to stretch his fingers. The tough leather of his gloves crack and crease before he grasps Button’s hand again. I can feel her happiness. I wonder how Snap ever fell in love with her; how one could fall in love with a bony mask and a hidden body. Maybe they knew each other before.
Snap caressing Button’s golden locks, her hands running down his tanned chest.
We keep walking.
The sun is moving down toward the horizon. Another hour? Two? I pull my hood down further to block out the light. I look down at my boots, which had split at the toe. I curse myself for letting that happen.
“Ah!” We all perk up, eyes front and scanning for what had caused the exclamation. “There!” It’s Crook, waving their arm like a flag. “Ahaha!” They made breathy noises like a lost ewe. “Look!”
We notice, and a collective sigh of relief releases from our lungs. In the distance, just at the edge of what could have been possible to walk for the night, is a frail but standing building beckoning us in with promises of safety and a good night’s rest.
-
The house is stable and for that we are thankful. We decide to stay for the night, and I split off to step into the bathroom while nobody is looking.
It’s nothing much. The toilet hasn’t been serviced in a long while. There’s a dank pit in the ground where the bathtub should be. Instead of a sink, there’s a bowl of packed dirt with some seedlings sprouting out. They won’t fare well without sunlight.
I’m chewing on my lip as I scan the room, and settle on the mirror. Shattered, only jagged fragments hanging on at the edges- sharp enough to slice skin. I draw blood with my teeth and suck it up, coppery and slick.
It’s alright. I reach into my pocket and feel for the familiar smoothness tucked away by my thigh. I run my thumb over the surface- knowing every bump and dent like the back of my hand. Touching it brings out a little sigh of pleasure. It is my illicit safety.
I pull it out with care and hold it in both hands. It’s shiny and pink. The plastic lettering on the front has chipped a little, gold paint flaking away to reveal white. I run my finger along the curved edge until I reach the hinges. Then I open it, this is the most exciting part and I forget to pace myself- heart skipping a beat as I tilt open the handheld compact. Yes… this is it.
A beast. Reflect where I should be is a creature with a mask of bone. It’s jacket is torn and tattered and it’s hidden itself under layers of protective clothing. I seeth at it. I grind my teeth and let out a guttural growl. It’s a predator, it’s an enemy, it’s something to be hunted and destroyed.
I rip away my hood and tear off the bone on my face. It clatters on the countertop as I drop it. I rip off my gloves while balancing the compact and let it all fall to the ground.
In the mirror I see nothing. I’m exposed, I’m pure, but I’m disgusting. I pull at my hair. Mousy, brown, messed from being underneath the hood for so long. I grunt and drawl and drag my fingernails down my cheek leavin red trails. I scratch away at my jaw and snag my ears. I want it gone. Eradicated, erased, burned away to nothing. Crushed to ash and mixed with sand. Torn into pieces and thrown into the sky. I want it gone. I want it gone. I want it gone.
-
I walk by Ram and Nadia on my way out from the bathroom. I avoid eye contact. Ram doesn’t call out to me and I am glad.
I settle down in the room behind the entrance hall. The absence of furniture leaves ghost marks on the ground. Lighter patches where things should be. Scratches and glass fragments, bits of fabric and piles of dust. Signs of life, but life very long ago. Flower is laying in the corner and using her arm as a pillow. I don’t know if she is asleep, so I didn’t bother her. I sit beneath a window closed up with withering tarp so the draft would go right over my head. This is time for me to think. To be alone with my thoughts and let them resonate in my head, let them take over my very conscious being. Just for now, I allow myself to fall back into deep thought.
Misery. Fear. Hopelessness. Sympathy. Pity. Hatred. Indifference. All of the emotions that bounce in my heart throughout the day.
I don’t count the days or years of time gone by, couldn’t count how many granules of sand dug scars into my flesh. I couldn’t count the losses and the gains and the problems and the fixes because it all happens so often that it blurs together. Every day is the same and eventually it becomes one great sandstorm that mars my complexion and warps me into a desert creature.
When I do fall asleep, I dream of this.
I am a hunter. I’m running through dark woods and leaping over fallen logs and boulders. My legs are strong and carry me swiftly. My nose twitches, a blood red trail of scent leading the way. Yes- I can taste it now. I lick my teeth- sharp and jagged like glass, and draw blood on my tongue. It tastes like victory. I will keep running.
I take a sharp turn and leap over a small creek. The water is still and murky. Under the cover of brambles and bush I drop to my stomach and crawl, digging my hands into the dirt to pull me closer.
But something moves in the distance- and I shoot up, ears swiveling and throat rumbling. I can feel eyes all around me- someone is stalking me. Watching me. My heart is pounding and my vision turns a sickly yellow as I feel pits of fear sinking deep.
It leaps, and we scramble-!
Claws on flesh and teeth on bone, I heard crunches and cracks and liquid coats my face.
Dank dirt nearly sucks us up and mud mixes with crimson.
I am pinned suddenly and sharp claws pierce my skin.
I look up, and my hunter smiles down with a sickly maw. Bone juts out of uneven facial structure like crystalline growths. Rot leaks out of every crevice and hole, and through its eyes I can see it’s organs and heart, trapped in a cage of thorny branches. It snarls and spits it’s acidic saliva. It’s ribcage is split open to reveal a moss-covered stomach just yearning to swallow me whole.
“NO!” I cry, and slash up with all the strength I can muster-!
The creature yowls and falls back. I’ve split it down the stomach, and sand pours out of the wound. It’s flying and kicking up and covering me, burying me until it covers my nose. The creature is screaming as sand falls from its body. It’s decomposing. Becoming glass and crystal. It disappears into sand and swirls down my throat.
I choke on the sharp granules, it’s tearing me apart and sucking the air from me- the more I try to breath in the more sand I heave in. I can’t breathe. Blood and sand fill my veins and choke out my life, dying, rotting, becoming nothing but sand-
I wake up and I’m sitting under the window again, and Flower is snoring in the corner, and I’m breaking out in a cold sweat that makes me shiver despite the warm air that’s pouring in above me. Morning light is peering out of holes in the tarp and is creating a pretty design in front of me that I take a moment to stare at before standing. It’s morning now and knowing everyone is asleep, I feel an impulsive pang to run into the bathroom and hide.
I go through the hall, step into the kitchen- Ram and Nadia are gone, but Crook and Tetra are still asleep on the floor. In the next room over, Larkling is curled close with Fen. I leave them be. I do wonder where Ram and Nadia have gone, but it doesn’t worry me as I poke my head into another room in which Snap has fallen asleep across from Siddie. I think they were playing cards, I can see some scattered around. I almost stop to pick up the cards, but I turn away and continue down the hall toward the bathroom.
My hand sneaks into my pocket almost involuntarily and circles across the compact. It’s hidden power excites me. I want to see myself clearly. I want to-
“I thought I’d find you here,” Ram says.
I spin around. My other hand was on the bathroom door handle and releases almost instantly. My heart races. I feel sweat sticking to my mask.
“I want to talk,” he steps forward and I weigh my options. I want to go feral, maybe I can punch that mask away and bite him in the cheek. That’ll scare him.
“Why won’t you talk to me?” He knows why. An instinctive growl grows in my chest. He makes a move to reach out to me and I panic, letting the animalistic snarl loose and turning to bolt down the hall. I don’t turn to see if he’s running after me because I am too focused on reaching the door, my feet moving faster than I can comprehend and my hand stretching out to turn the knob-
As soon as my boots crunch into the sand I freeze. There is no light. A shadow swallows me, and my stomach turns to ice.
I hear a choked gasp behind me- Ram- and my head tilts up slowly like a wind-up toy about to spring.
She is a monument of death himself. Crucified like an ancient savior, torn apart like a carcass by vultures. I don’t fixate on the gore spilling from her seams but the peak of the totem- something that could, one day long ago, have been a head. She is a Queen standing before subjects with a crown of bone. She is a statue crafted by artisan hands smiling down with unsettling love. Her face is sculpted and chiseled, and her mask is her frame- shattered to expose her raw expression Her jacket has been torn away to showcase the work of art and I find that the more I look upon her murdered body, the more I realize I had forgotten about my own. Deft fingers, long and pale. Brown locks, mussed only by the wind. Even her back although split open to create the horrific statue was something out of old paintings. Immaculate and unstained in every way. A flash of envy- she is beautiful, I realize.
Ram grabs my shoulder. “What the fuck?!” He cries, spinning me around.
I look at him with a vacant stare. She is beautiful, I want to tell him.
He screams and shakes me, but doesn’t hurt me. He knows I couldn’t have done this, and he releases my shoulder to fall to his knees and let out shuddering sobs. I turn back to her to look at her corpse again. Nadia was a masterpiece. I felt disgust. I felt adoration. I wanted it to be gone. I wanted everyone in the world to see it.
-
Inside me there is a creature. It is rotting and made of glass ground up underneath my boots. It smiles wickedly and pulls my strings like a puppeteer. It drives my every movement and it controls the words that spill from my jaw. Inside me it simmers and waits, waits, waits- to strike.
As I walk across the desert flat I can feel the compact in my pocket. It’s smooth against my thumb. The creature rumbles, I am pleased like a dragon hoarding gemstones. We are alone but there is crusted blood on my hands to keep me company. I don’t quite remember when it got there, but it flakes off in chunks to join the sand below. I think, briefly, that I do not miss anyone. There is no one to look at me in all my grotesque wonder. There is no bone to hide my smile.
The creature rumbles.
We walk.
Crunch.
Crunch.
Crunch.

Sidney Crosby - My butt!
Tumblr media
34 - crosby “If you keep looking at me like that we won’t make it to a bed.”
“Come on Siddy boy! Come get me.” You yelled as you ran across your yard.
You and Sid were having a tag fight with water balloons. Pittsburg was having a hot week and no matter what you seemed to do you two were always hot. Turn the air up, hot. Take a cold bath, hot. Go, swimming, hot.
“You’re going to regret that when I soak you!” He giggled as he ran after you with an arm raise full of a fat blue balloon. Only, the balloon didn’t hit you, but Sid.
“HA! You fell!” You joked as you throw a pink balloon at him, hitting him on the butt.
“My butt! You hit my BUTT!” He laughed before getting up and hitting your chest with two balloons.
“Shit!” You yelled before running behind a tree.
“AHHH! Wet t-shirt contest!” He said before throwing another balloon on your chest. This time your shirt showed your bra.
“SIDNEY!” You yelp as you crossed your arms around your boobs.
“Don’t give me that look.”
“And what looked would that be Sidney.” You teased.
“You know what look.” He whinned. “I mean it! If you keep looking at me like that we won’t make it to the bed.” He said as he dropped his balloons and picked you up causing you to drop your as well.
“SID!” You yelped.
“Y/N.” He mocked as he slapped your butt.

Q&A: Dude’s Barber Grand Opening
When I walked into Dudes Barber, it was unlike any other barbershop I had ever been in. What first got my attention was the Orange color and retro feel and then I focused in on the beautiful pool table.
I then met and sat down with Co-Owners and life partners Frank and Barry. F&B are coming up on their 20th anniversary and after talking with them for a few minutes it became obvious why. They clearly complement each other! As a matter of fact they basically spend all their time together, as they are both Flight Attendants for Jet Blue and only fly together.
I found out that some iconic Disco star will be at their opening, and asked Frank and Barry how they were able to get them all to be there, and I found out that Frank used to work for Disco 78, which was a TV show that came on right after Saturday Night Live. He had been out of that business for many years when he reconnected with Cynthia Manley (Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”) on facebook, and started helping her get gigs. She then recommended Frank to a few of her “Disco Era” friends and Frank had a new business….Disco-Stars.com.
What made you guys decide to open Dudes Barber?
Frank said: “A friend of ours is a barber and after Mojos closed he was looking for a place to work, and couldn’t find anything similar. After a short while chatting, we decided this would be a good business venture for us. Well, I had to convince Barry, but it didn’t take a lot for him to buy into this great idea. As a matter of fact, once we decided to open the business, it only took one month to open the doors.”
What made you open a barbershop?
Barry said: “Our intensions are to provide the community with a new concept in Barber Shops, and provide a place where people can come and relax, wind down, meet others and get a great haircut at a very reasonable price. It’s a home, it’s a hang out, and it’s a place where you can shoot a game of pool, enjoy a cold beverage, listen to music and chat with others.  A place where we always try and make everyone feel welcome.”
What are some of the extras you get at Dudes Barber?
According to the manager JT, who has been in the business for 25 years, but only looks 35: “In addition to a fun atmosphere and incredibly attentive and friendly hair stylists, we offer a Pool Table, WiFi, a charging station and beverages that are all free.”
What kind of events we can expect at Dudes Barber?
Frank said: “We look forward to hosting special events from time to time with many of our friends in the music industry. We will start with our Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, August 4th from 5pm-8pm. Our special friends, Joy and Rob from LIME, Susan, Siddy and Dalia from COMPANY B and MarLa also known as freestyle artist GIGGLES will be in the house performing for us all. The evening will also be hosted by Nikki Adams with music by VJ Barry Browder! We invite you to stop by the shop any time to meet our barbers, see the place, get a haircut or shave and make new friends”
Grand Opening is Saturday, August 4
Dudes Barbershop (2039 Wilton Drive) is open 7 days a week:
Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm
Mondays – Saturdays from 8 am to 7 pm.

Share the Pride: 18th Annual Stonewall Pride Unfolds June 17
South Florida’s LGBT community gathers on Saturday (June 17) for the 18th Annual Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride Parade & Festival.
The event, which spans the one-mile length of Wilton Drive in the heart of Fort Lauderdale’s gay community, starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. The annual festival will this year see more than 100 vendors showcasing their products and services and some 30 bars, restaurants and food vendors serving food and drinks.
The actual parade begins at 4 p.m. and will last approximately an hour and a half. It will begin on NE 20th Street and will end at Five Points. Four stages along the Drive will showcase some of the best local performers and entertainers.
The Parade Grand Marshal this year will be Emmy award-winning actress Sharon Gless. Immediately following the parade, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., fans and festival attendees will have the opportunity to meet Ms. Gless and take photos with her at the Stonewall Gallery (2157 Wilton Drive).
Gless is a 10-time Emmy Award nominee and seven-time Golden Globe Award nominee. She won a Golden Globe in 1986 and Emmys in 1986 and 1987 for Cagney & Lacey, and a second Golden Globe in 1991 for The Trials of Rosie O’Neill. Gless received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995. She is beloved in the LGBTQ community for her portrayal of Debbie Novotny in the Showtime cable television series Queer as Folk from 2000-2005.
Gless also appeared as Madeline Westen in the South Florida based series Burn Notice from 2007-2013. She has recently shared her considerable talent with OurNightOUT.org, starring as the Gay Fun Fairy in a series of public service announcements that can be seen online and at the venues of the OurNightOUT.org partners.
(OurNightOUT is a collaborative by three of Florida’s leading LGBT cultural organizations: Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida, Stonewall National Museum & Archives and Island City Stage.)
Stonewall Week events are:
● Wednesday, June 14th from 8 p.m. till midnight, the Stonewall Skate Night is at Xtreme Action Park, 5300 Powerline Road, Fort Lauderdale. This event guarantees a good time with roller skating, dancing, featuring TP Lords, other performances and so much more.
● Thursday, June 15, 6-9 p.m., Wilton Manors Stonewall Gala, invitation only, will be held at the Manor House, Richardson Park & Nature Preserve, 1900 Wilton Drive.
● Friday, June 16, 9 a.m. NBC 6 Cafe’ at Rosie’s Bar & Grille, 2449 Wilton Dr.
We also caught up with some of the featured performers for this year’s event!
Q: What does Pride mean to you, and are you exciting to be performing at Stonewall Pride 2017?
Jackie Beat (Iconic Drag NYC Performer) – Pride to me just means being able to be whomever you are — even if that is a crazy clown, like me. Be proud of you are, and don’t let anybody tell you who you are. I am so exciting to be playing Progress Bar, so please cue see me. (Performing at Progress Bar)
Company B (Susan Gonzalez, Dalia Chirinos, Siddy Betancourt, Gail Hoyer) — The world was beautifully constructed, whether it be G-d or nature. It presents so many physical choices from the tree to the animal kingdom. When it comes to the homo sapien, we were created in many colors with many differences such as height, weight, ethnic background and culture. We are the only animal on the planet that can and does make choices, which include the option of discrimination and the ability to act on it.
Company B is a band that is made of three women who are derivative of slave ancestry and immigrants. Each of these women have experienced some form of harassment and or discrimination. The women of Company B are proud to be a part of community that stands for justice for all and will always choose to take a stand. Stonewall is a reminder of what becomes of hate and bigotry and each year the gay community celebrates overcoming hate. Company B is honored to be a part of such a proud and cohesive community. We join this celebration to take one step closer to celebrating love. (Performing at Hunters Nightclub)
Antonio Edwards (Mr. Stonewall 2016) — What Pride means to me is a celebration of the connection I have with my community. I am extremely proud to be a part of the community of Wilton Manors. I entered Mr. Stonewall last year with that sense of pride in mind. It is a Gay Pride pageant. I am very excited to be working again this year at Georgie’s Alibi/Monkey Bar along with Jennifer McClain and several of the entertainers on cast at the Alibi. Our show will be on the outside stage in front of the Alibi shortly after the parade. (Performing at Georgie’s Alibi/Monkey Bar)
Wendy Ho (Comedienne) — Pride to me means living fully authentically and shamelessly in our skin and unafraid of fear and hatred. (Performing at Progress Bar)
Starlet Skye (Miss Stonewall 2016) – -Pride means to be able to express yourself in whatever way you feel comfortable. We have come so far over the years and although things are not fully correct and free we still are in a better position than we were years ago. I try to remind the youth of today that without our elders we wouldn’t be able to have this celebration. I’m very respectful of the past generations and proud to be part of a wonderful thing like pride. I’m super excited to perform on the stage this year I want everyone to have a great time. (Performing at Georgie’s Alibi/Monkey Bar)

Hello and today on Siddy’s Hot Takes... A Clarification:
The first part of this series and I already have to clarify myself... fantastic start lol. But seriously after even my best friend, who knows me like the back of his hand, told me he couldn’t understand what I was getting at... I knew I had to clarify myself lol
The video I was referring to, which I’ve actually mentioned on here before as a video I very much disagreed with >_>, the guy making the video said that RWBY shouldn’t have won against the Ace Ops because, now this isn’t exact but it’s pretty close, “Ruby went from this
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
to this. I just think that’s unrealistic for them to win.” I tried to find a gif of that Ruby and Harriet moment but I couldn’t find one >_< He used a clip from volume 5, not even volume 6, to disparage Volume 7 Ruby just like........ completely pretending Ruby, as well as her team, HAVEN’T improved in the span of 2 volumes <_<
That’s what I meant. Why use a clip from volume 5 when Volume 5 Ruby and Volume 7 Ruby are practically 2 different people and definitely in 2 different skill levels? That’s just not a fair comparison, I don’t think.
Also, I think people seem to forget that team RWBY was TRAINED by the very people they’re fighting. They were trained by the Ace Operatives. They were trained by the former best huntsman in Atlas. So like..... yeah .-. Of course they’re gonna be stronger, smarter and more cohesive as a team than they were the first time they were reunited in pretty much a year ._.

Hello there and welcome to Siddy’s Hot Takes #2
I’m already sensing a pattern in these lol. I don’t like it when people disregard a clearly powerful characters strengths >_> With that being said.
Adam wasn’t nerfed in his fight against Yang and Blake and saying he was is frankly a disservice to all 3 of them .-. The WHOLE point of Yang and Blake vs Adam is to SHOW that Yang and Blake are DONE letting Adam hold them back, emotionally and physically. To show that Yang and Blake have gotten stronger separately and together, to show that they’re not letting Adam get to them anymore. That Adam has no power over them. And their song Nevermore drives that home.
Adam was never, not once, going easy on them in any way shape or form. Why would he? These are girls that he despises. Girls that he wants dead. And he WANTED to kill them. Yang and Blake gave him chances to retreat. To come back another day, but he refused. He wanted his deathmatch then and there. And he pulled out all the stops. I think what people are calling his “nerfs” are really Adam’s mental state. Lemme try to explain what I mean
Now obviously Adam is a lunatic. That’s... I think everyone can agree there. Adam has been devolving ever since Volume 3. Hell, honestly? Even since the Black Trailer when Blake first left. Seeing the girl he “loves” work so flawlessly with the girl he maimed, the girl that should be dead? That takes a further toll on him. It makes him angry. It makes him sloppy. And Yang simply took advantage of that
Adam was expecting an all out brawl from Yang. If the fight had taken place earlier? It would’ve been. But this is volume 6. Yang has trained with Taiyang. She listened to his pointers, mainly about relying on her semblance, and worked on that. In fact, ever since she hasn’t RELIED on her semblance once. Yang was prepared. She knew that Adam was an offensive fighter like she was. And, again, if this was an earlier volume, she would’ve met him for a clash. But because she trained, reflected on her style, she learned how to be defensive. WHEN to be defensive. And that defensiveness got on Adam’s nerves, as evidenced when he yelled “HIT ME ALREADY!”.
Adam wasn’t nerfed. He was deranged and, ultimately, outclassed by the trained, patient, and ready couple. A calmer, more stable Adam could’ve won that fight. But he wasn’t. He was fueled by nothing but hate, spite, and anger.

Yo 😗 time for Siddy’s Hot Takes #3 (part 2)
Ohhhhhhhhh boi I’m just gonna jump right in because people’s responses to volume 7 spark something deep in my soul >_> If I come off as a little extra heated it’s cause how people talk about volume 7 makes me this way <_<
RWBY Volume 7... The latter half of this last volume reeeeeeeeeally split people. I have made my thoughts ABUNDANTLY clear if you’ve read any of my Ironwood or Ace Ops posts. If ya haven’t... I hate Ironwood and RWBY beat the Ace Ops fair and square. But this ain’t about that this about RWBY and friends still being heroes. I have a lot to say here so let’s start small shall we?
Volume 7 was a volume all about morality. You’re SUPPOSED to be questioning people’s thoughts and intentions. But I think people forgot that the show is called RWBY, yes, but RWBYJNOR(Q) aren’t the ONLY major players here. You CAN question other people. Like, say, General James Ironwood. Who wants to source all of Atlas’ resources to Atlas only and neglect Mantles defense and supply shortage. Yeah sure, when you ONLY put RWBY under scrutiny, they can look like the bad guys. But let’s look at Ironwood who, I always reiterate, shot a minor WITH THE INTENT TO KILL HIM
Tumblr media
and wanted to completely leave a kingdom of over thousands of innocent civilians including Maria and new fan favorite Pietro, at the time James said he was going to do this Maria and Pietro were still in Mantle, to DIE. But no yeah that’s fine cause he’s the general right? Making necessary sacrifices. Wonder who else made tough choices and couldn’t go back? What was her name? Started with an R...
Tumblr media
Mm I’m blanking. Anyway.
RWBY’s actions throughout the volume reek of distrust. Between Ruby lying about Oz and the lamp, Yang and Blake telling Robyn about the Amity Tower, yeah their actions are questionable. Not gonna deny that. But RWBY only wanted to keep the peace. Between Atlas and Mantle, between Ironwood and Robyn, The Ace Ops and themselves. They only wanted what was best for both Atlas AND Mantle. Unlike the one who should ACTUALLY want what’s best for them
Yang and Blake thought that if Robyn knew about the Amity Tower, she would stop going after the supplies for it, and thus the tower would be completed faster. Communications would be restored and, ideally, Atlas shares SOME of their resources with Mantle. Yay :3. Now, obviously, that’s not what happened but that was their thought process. And Ruby lying is simple. She says it herself, she’s not sure if she can trust Ironwood yet. It would suuuuuuuck to tell someone everything you know only for them to stab you in the back. Now you have an enemy who knows everything you know. Now what do you do? Ruby was just being cautious.
Also, here’s the thing, everything was FINE. Right up until the aftermath of Ironwood vs Watts, everything was going according to plan. Robyn was on The Council, the amity tower was nearing completion, both Tyrian AND Watts were locked up for the time being. And we see that portrayed on James’ face after the fight, he was content. And then he saw CINDER’S souvenir. Ruby didn’t leave the glass Queen .-. Cinder did >_> People are so quick to blame RWBY for James’ fall from grace but no it was Cinder’s fault <_<
I’ll admit, RWBY’s, well actually it’s more like RBY’s, lies DID affect James, but he didn’t seem particularly bothered by those lies until AFTER he saw the Queen. And THEN he brought up trust and loyalty. And THEN the shit hit the fan.
If the Queen piece wasn’t there, James would have been more civilized. They would have had a more candid discussion about the matter. Qrow, Clover, and Robyn come back with Tyrian bound, Ironwood is calmed down from his talk with the girls, Qrow and Clover kiss and the volume ends on a happy note ^_^... well... happIER cause ya know Salem’s still coming... and she’d still have the lamp 😓 but now everyone is calmer and more prepared for Salem’s invasion.
Wow it’s almost like... the heroes aren’t to blame for James’s actions 🤔 And what’s that? The ACTUAL villains are to blame? Interesting 🤔 no but sass aside, RWBY aren’t completely to blame for the bad parts of Volume 7, They were just trying to keep the peace.

Hi ^_^ Time for another of Siddy’s Hot Takes. #3 (part 1)
Team RWBY are still the heroes in Volumes 6 and 7... You’d think that’s not a hot take but some people .-. Anyway this one’s about volume 6. Next part will be Volume 7 because volume 7... deserves a whole other post.
So A LOT of people didn’t like volume 6. I’ve seen people say RWBY are the villains of the series now which is... what I’m gonna get into about how that is very narrow minded >_> But first lemme tell ya how I feel about volume 6 :3
Volume 6 is a fantastic volume, I think. We learn what the lamp can do, we learned about Salem and Ozma, we actually saw the Gods of Light and Darkness, we FINALLY got an answer to the age old question “Hey what’s up with the moon? .-.” and that was all in ONE episode ._. and the FIGHTS! Amazing. Yang and Blake vs Adam? My favorite fight in the volume. Cinder vs Neo, Iconic. RWBY and co vs Cordo, fantastic. Speaking of RWBY and co vs Cordo
A lot of people when they say they don’t even know where RWBY and co stand anymore point to the plan to steal the Atlas Airship. Which, I’ve said before, is stupid >_>. RWBY and friends HAD to get to Atlas and Cordovin wasn’t budging. What were they supposed to do sit back, twiddle their thumbs and wait for her to MAYBE change her mind? NO they have to get to Atlas to stop Salem from destroying the kingdom. They tried asking Cordo nicely, even in the midst of a fight Ruby made a plea to let them go to Atlas peacefully. But no she STILL didn’t budge. So, again, what were they supposed to do? Call Ironwood? Can’t do that. WRITE Ironwood? That’s not gonna get there in time, if at all seeing as Yang didn’t get Ruby’s letters. So tell me. WHAT were they supposed to do? .-.
Another thing I’ve seen, not a multitude of times but a few too many times >_>, is calling Yang and Blake the bad guys in Yang and Blake vs Adam saying that they shouldn’t have killed him... Yeah .-. I... went over my thoughts on this fight in my last post so I’m not gonna say too much here. But Adam, as well as the bees, knew what they were getting into. They knew one of them was gonna die. Yang and Blake gave him chances to leave, first Blake and then the both of them, and he refused. He WANTED that fight. He just thought he’d win. He underestimated them and that resulted in his death. Yang and Blake may have held the blades but Adam’s death was his own doing.
Team RWBY has ALWAYS done things their way. Even from Volume 1. Why should they stop that out of no where?

I’ve been sitting on this for a while. Siddy’s Hot Takes #4?
I very much am not a fan of Snowbird/Qrowin. I never have been .-. As a shipper who gives anything a chance, I HAVE tried it out. It just didn’t do anything for me. I’m sorry for being particularly vulgar here, but I feel like any tension they had could be cleared out with one good fuck.
And I can agree that they LOOK good together. They’re both super hot and WOULD be one helluva power couple. But I dunno I just personally can’t see their relationship going past that one fuck. Teasing quips would ensue, because it’s Qrow, but Winter would just get annoyed more than anything  🤷‍♂️. I could just not see the depth of their limited interactions, but I dunno personally I think RT agrees. Otherwise Qrow and Winter would’ve interacted more throughout volume 7. Like through out the entirety of the volume they got like what..... 2 scenes together? Any scene with Clover, could’ve had Winter in it instead if they wanted to put them together, I feel. And I’d be disappointed, because I’m admittedly bias toward Fair Game, but I wouldn’t burn down the RT building lol.
All this being said, ship whatcha want I don’t care as long as it makes ya happy :3

Hello and it’s time for Siddy’s Hot Takes #6
Spoiler alert: This one’s not about RWBY *gasp* it’s about games. Just... kinda... in general lol
It’s okay to grind .-. Like if you don’t like grinding that’s fine don’t get me wrong 😗 but don’t like... put people who do grind down >_> it’s kinda mean. How do I word this 🤔 Not everyone wants an extreme hard mode. Not everyone plays with minimal experience, the best strategies, and the best equipment. If you’re playing a game with a support system, like for example Fire Emblem, not everyone plays with the best possible pairings. I know I don’t lol
Some people just wanna experience the game casually. Get to know the characters, use different equipment, if you’re me use characters who are popularly referred to as bad on purpose lol. Something so satisfying about that last one :3. And most of those, especially using bad characters, require grinding. I know grinding can be annoying, especially in a game with permadeath,  belieeeve me >_>, but for me anyway, it’s always worth it ^_^. If you don’t agree, if you think grinding is boring, and it can be lol, that’s fine 😗. If you LIKE doing those hard mode challenges, that’s great :3. I respect you because I can’t do them .-.
But don’t mock people for grinding. Like, sure, it takes away the challenge from the game. But... And? Some people don’t WANT a challenge like I said at the beginning lol.

Hello there and today on Siddy’s Hot Takes:
Comparing team RWBY’s combat style from previous Volumes as a point against them is like saying “Jaune hasn’t grown at all. Did you see how he treated Pyrrha in volume 1 when she just wanted to help? >_>” If you’re thinking “Well that’s not relevant to Jaune today he HAS grown a lot since volume 1 .-.” That’s the point very good *nod*
