Wayward Son doesn't get the credit it deserves for how chaotic it is.
Penny, Simon, and Baz dropping everything and illegal going to vacation in America with no passports, no money, and not much of a plan.
Baz using "Here Kitty-Kitty" and being forced to kill 9 cats behind a mall.
The three arguing about whether buffalo is beef to see if Penny can eat it (right after she had her heart broken).
They go to a Renn Faire and promptly kill 9 vampires for the world to see, and Simon and Baz make out instead of trying to get away.
Baz wearing flowers basically the entire time.
Them being scared of, out of all things, an overly friendly ex-stormchaser who knows WAY too much for his own good.
Simon SHANKING a goat man.
Shepard knows magickal creatures all across America.
Baz somehow finds a floral suit, and wears it while he gets drunk on the Strip with the Vampire king.
And the final part is a full on GUNFIGHT in the middle of the desert between two vampire factions, and somehow Burning Man helps our main cast out.
It doesn't get the credit for being as chaotically evil as it is.

the utter genius of simon’s surname being snow and baz’s surname being pitch!!! i will never stop speaking about this!!! snow, as in snow white, white as snow, as in connotations of purity and inherent goodness. the designated role of hero. pitch, as in pitch-black, as in connotations of evil and darkness, a black hole, a vortex. the designated role of villain.
but they’re not what is forced onto them. simon is a flawed hero. he’s angry, and sometimes selfish. he’s not perfect by any means: not a perfect friend, not a perfect boyfriend, not a perfect saviour. he’s obsessed with his so-called nemesis. he’s in love with a boy, completely opposing everything we’ve ever known about heroes and their happily ever afters with their princesses by their side. baz is not a villain. he is good. he loves so deeply and viscerally he fears it will kill him sometimes. he’s loyal and brave and true. he defies the very basic principles of being a vampire so far that he compromises on his health, just to hold on to his humanity.
nothing is black and white, good and evil, right and wrong.
ugh i love love love it when literature!!! @rainbowrowell nobody’s doing it like you

There are only two things Simon will take his time to describe in full: the meal laid in front of him and what Baz is wearing, aka the meal laid in front of him

“It’s familiar. So is the smell of the morning and the frost on the grass. Comforting in a way that borders on an ache.”

Carry On Countdown | Day Fifteen: Familiar
This year I decided I wanted to honor the incredibly talented fic writers of this fandom, so I chose one fic per prompt to do an illustration for. I didn’t double up on authors so that I could do this for as many people as possible. I realized while planning this that there are way too many fics and authors that I love, and even after having picked 30 of what I consider some of my very favorites, I could have easily kept going. Please check the fics out if you haven’t, they all come highly recommended.

Simon and Baz are the epitome of “I’d die for you” (Baz) and “I’d kill for you” (Simon)
Baz was already thinking of ways to “spell this imbecile away from him” to save him from the fire he’d created, and Simon was willing to throw himself in front of the Las Vegas vampires and fight them off to save Baz.
