OK my fellow sapphics, I just binge-watched the entire first season of The Rising (from Sky), which is a pretty solid true crime show with a touch of the paranormal, family trauma (and healing!), and two girls falling in love while they try to find out who murdered Neve, the lead character (this is not a spoiler cos that’s basically the plot). If you ever read “Shallow Graves” by Kalli Wallace, and liked it (I gave it 3 stars on GR), you might find some similarities bet. Neve and the book’s MC. The chemistry bet. the girls is really great, and it’s been really fun watching the development of their relationship. I SINCERELY hope we get a season 2 (the ending certainly drives toward that direction), cos there are endless opportunities to dive deeper into the mystery of Neve’s improbable sentience. I also want to see her punishing more insufferable and abusive men. Until then, I urge you guys to give it a go cos views are really important in securing another season for this great show.

Moment of truth...
Keep in mind: I ONLY included the films in which (according to Wikipedia), Miyazaki was the SOLE director. The only one I couldn't squeeze on here was his latest work post-retirement (How Do You Live?). Also, alas, none of the other Ghibli films count, so don't ask for Arietty, or Grave of the Fireflies, etc.
Godspeed and happy voting! ❤
