In Infamous, Clark being present to explain his decision to turn back time to Lois, and subsequently, Lois piecing together he won’t decide not to tell her his secret in real time, as opposed to having to dance around an explanation, to try and find other words, delivering what is defined as a non explanation to Lana post time reversal and prior secret reveal in Requiem. It illustrates not only the importance of Clark’s growth, but the insight that they’ve (Lois and Clark) have always confided in each other as friends first, and therefore, Clark having to recede or retract that unspoken promise in real time, in a certain timeline of reality, is even more heartbreaking.

But also what it illustrates in comparison to the Requiem scene is hope - hope in the evolution, as I stated earlier, in Clark as a character, that someone he cares about, someone he has the capacity to care about more than a friend, can not only handle the weight of his secret, but is more than willing to protect it.

the thing i love abt smallville is, the costume department went all in on the color symbolism. clark is alwaysss wearing something red or blue (ocassionally yellow) like he is thee primary colors boy. and lex is almost always wearing something purple. and of course black and grey. luthorcorp colors. villain-coded colors. morally grey character on the road to darkness colors.
