Cordelia pooped in her water dish for the first time today! Which is not exciting in and of itself, but it means that for the first time in the months that we have had her, she used her water bowl. I think it's because she liked the bath I gave her the other day (because she hadn't pooped in a couple feedings). She was also waaayyy more interested in chilling in my hands today now that she isn't uncomfortable and constipated. She was a total grump last time.

It's getting to be about time to change out her substrate, I think I'm gonna invest in some ready made substrate for this time. It was a huge pain in the ass to make my own.

Found this cute western garter snake on my walk today

There's a snake in my... yanno.

i will be the first to admit that although i liked debut (2006) and fearless (2008), especially a few songs in particular, i didn’t really connect with either album as much. i’m older than taylor and at the time of each album release, i was already in college (in nashville ironically) living across the country from where i grew up. i was very far removed from my high school days or really much of my childhood surroundings, so hearing songs like fifteen didn’t really resonate with me. i also couldn’t really relate to the material as much, as i was in the midst of my own growth and maturation process, and there is definitely a big difference between a 16 and 21-year old (2006) as well as an 18 and 23-year old (2008)... i was not very concerned or invested in the thoughts and experiences of someone much younger than me at a time when i was struggling with my own coming of age.

so now that taylor is 31 and i’m 35, there is less of a “life” gap- so to speak- between us, and although i’m really sad she has to go through this rerecording process, i’m also really grateful (selfishly) that i’m at a place in my life where i can relive and reexperience these earlier albums/eras on a much deeper level. i still don’t really relate to a lot of the details of these earlier songs, but her songwriting is so powerful that a lot of it can be applied universally to many diverse life scenarios. i’ve truly loved the fearless (taylor’s version) release so much, and i’ve been able to find pieces of each song that really hit home for me now and allow me to appreciate the album in a completely different way (and with such 🔥 vocals). this whole process has just strengthened my love and respect for miss americana and the genius and talent that she is and was at such a young age.
