just occurred to me but now i'm having feelings abt how ala mhigo got told “no charity, you’ve got to trade if you want shit” by ul’dah post-sb, while garlemald gets given a trade agreement as a concession to their egos after receiving a ton of charity.
especially with the in-game context that most ala mhigans have been refugees in eorzea for the 20 years of the occupation, that gaius was canonically enslaving ala mhigans to send off to the mines (mentioned in both 1.0 and 2.0), and that the people we’re seeing on-screen were wealthy enough to live in the imperial capital and would’ve benefitted from the proximity to the imperial family (see: forum solius).
like. idk, the msq is just trying to make you forget how every single garlean we see on-screen benefited from the empire and its crimes, even if they weren’t actively complicit.
stormblood was pretty good when it came to how it portrayed colonialism, but it feels like the msq writers have retreated from that because they want us to be sympathetic to garlemald. it feels like an extension of how gaius was morally whitewashed in shadowbringers despite never actually opposing what garlemald did, only that an ascian was using him for his own purposes.
i think it’s a shame we’ve never been able to ask gaius point blank if he would do what he did again if it wasn’t an ascian asking him to do it. both in terms of story potential and just sheer... why wouldn’t we?

Hiii I just read your pinned about your OCs and I love all three of them So Much but I’m curious- does Mia have a favorite childhood memory from Garlemald?
Ooooh I actually have an answer locked and loaded for this! :D
So Mia... or rather, Maia, as she was known back then--Maia's family life was...fine, but she didn't really get a lot of attention from her parents, busy as they were; her father with magitek research & development and her mother in medical engineering. She found herself home alone a lot, and when it got to be too much she'd venture out to the next house over: the Norbanus estate.
Being around the same age and in a lot of the same classes in school, Jullus was earnestly Maia's best friend, playing together often as children, studying together as adolescents, and frequently babysitting his younger siblings together when his parents found themselves busy with work (though they were home more often, and she shared lots of warm and friendly dinners with them).
Maia found herself shockingly good with kids, if Jullus's brother and sister were any indication; she had a good sense of when to wrangle them, when to let them play freely, how to keep them entertained, almost (but not quite) better than Jullus did. They spent a lot of time in the park of Forum Solius in particular -- it was after one of those days when she was walking them home when Jullus's sister hugged her tightly around the waist and said "thanks for playing with us, Auntie Maia."
Even after she got the hell out of Garlemald, even several years into her career as a Warrior of Light, even after changing her name, Mia still feels a warmth in her heart whenever she remembers being Auntie Maia to them.
(When she stands in front of the Norbanus household again many years later and learns of their fate at the whims of the Telophoroi, a permanent fissure forms in her heart, learning she'll never get the chance to be Auntie Mia to them.)
thank you for the ask, I really appreciate it!! :D

113, M42. Forges Flagship Ceramite Scales. Servo-skull transcription of interrogation of Coran D'Naro regarding his time on Agri-World Teksin
Can I first say how honored I am to have the Emperor's angels asking about my life? Well, first of all I was born 84 years ago -
Huh? Oh, only stuff related to the whole quakes and all, got it.
Started as a week like any other. We was workin the fields, cuttin the ripes and plantin the seeds. Then the quakes started.
I was in the temple when the first hit. Was me and the priests and Betty and Rowan, Liv and Solius... Oh, yeah, guess you wouldn't care about all them. There was also that lady talkin to the priests. The one dressed real fancy-like with her gaggle of groupies.
Then the earth started shaking, and things started coming down. Ceilin started fallin. Rowan got hit by a fallin bit of rubble. Me and Liv hid together. One of the fancy-lady's gang got hit. Blood everywhere.
We was stuck in them ruins for probably a day. Fancy-lady was way calm about the whole situation. Priests did their best to keep the rest of us calm. Liv and Dariel were freaking out real bad.
The quakes continued through that day, periodically causing more parts of the building to fall. I'm lucky I wasn't one of them that got struck in fallin rubble. But after a day or so of quakes, that's when y'all arrived, looking all fancy in that armor of yours.
Was the one in the fancy thin armor pulled aside some rubble. Eh? Loo-tenent Arusane? Sure, that guy. Pulled aside some rubble. Made just enough room for all of us to file out. Place was a wreck all around. Buildings crumbled everywhere. Fields were in ruins for sure. Hoping that ain't planet-wide once I get back down home so we can go back to work as normal.
He led us out, things weren't great. Was horrifying, those silver armored men... or... I mean, no, not tech-heresy, I'm sure? I don't want to know. Those things were creepy as hell, I don't want to even know what they were.
Anyway he had us run, and run, toward the tanks you all had. Away from the... silver things. Then he stopped and turned, told us to keep runnin. He ran back to try to fight them things. I don't know what happened to him after that. That's when we ran up and met the captain. Great guy.
Captain Kadek took us back. Had us ducking into cover to hide when more of the bad guys showed up. We lost some of his guys along the way, a few got separated or whatever... Ended up just as the captain up fightin against a whole gaggle of those silver guys.
I don't know I'm ever gonna forget that sight. Down to just the captain, rest of his bodyguard separated and split off, us sitting behind some rubble, doing our best to not get seen.
The captain pulled out his everything, it was clear. That hammer of his rapped its way through every one of those silver guys with the weird spears, he took down all five of them on his own in no time at all.
Then, he got us out of there safe and sound.
That's about all I got. It's... something surreal having the Emperor's angels here asking me about my own life. Yeah, I can't complain. You saved us from the enemies of the Imperium and that captain Kadek inspired Liv to start imaginin herself as some kinda fighter, haha.
Hm? Inquisitor? Oh, the fancy-lady. Yeah, I don't know what happened to her. Hope she's alright, she seemed real friendly with the priests.

By • Olalekan Fagbade Suspected armed robbery member confesses: ‘I bought gun for gang to aid our operations operations’     A member of a syndicate allegedly involved in snatching vehicles in Nigeria and taking them across the border to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, Alhaji Rashidi Salami, has spoken on how he started the crime about 10 years ago, to the extent that he even purchased a gun from outside Nigeria for N250,000 to aid the gang’s operation. Salami also opened up on how he was arrested charged to court and jailed over the same issue, but decided to return to his vomit after serving prison term. Salami, aged 50, was among the suspects recently paraded by the Oyo State Police Command for various offences. In his maiden press briefing, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, told journalists of how the trans-border armed robbers were nabbed. CP Hamzat said that through intelligence gathering, a team of police operatives attached to the Monitoring Unit, led by the commander, CSP Olusola Aremu, learnt of the activities of a trans-border armed robbery syndicate that specialised in using motorbikes to intercept and snatch exotic vehicles at gunpoint from unsuspecting members of the public at different locations in the state. The team reportedly swung into action, resulting in the initial arrest of two suspected members identified as OluwaseunAbiodun Sofolahan and Abiodun Mojeed Lameed and the recovery of a locally-made gun. When interrogated, the suspects confessed to snatching exotic vehicles, including Toyota Highlander SUV, a Lexus SUV and three Toyota Corolla cars from their owners along Ibadan-Oyo expressway and other locations within Ibadan metropolis. CP Hamzat stated further that the suspects’ confessional statements led to the arrest of Rashidi Salami and Aliu Soliu, who used to collect the vehicles from the armed robbers for immediate transportation to Ouagadougou for sale. “The duo confessed to have received all the stolen vehicles and moved them across the border to Burkina Faso where they were sold to another criminal cartel,” the police boss added, saying that investigation was still ongoing. Nigerian Tribune learnt that Lameed was the one who used to carry other gang members on bike while Oluwaseun would be in possession of gun. What they usually did was to block their victims and rob them of vehicles or motorcycles. Oluwaseun, aged 35 and Abeokuta-born but Oyo-based, narrated his foray into crime world: “I was a welder but joined armed robbery gang in 2020 when things became rough for me. I will blame myself for yielding to bad friendship and peer pressure. “I met Alhaji Salami who promised to buy a gun for me. I met him through my friends – Bola, Sunday and Sheriff – at joints, though I only smoke cigarette. I knew my friend, Sheriff, at Bodija market. I got connected with others through him. Sheriff told me that he was a buyer of snatched vehicles and asked me to join his robbery gang to snatch vehicles for Alhaji. I’ve snatched three vehicles for him. He told us he used to take the vehicles to Ouagadogou, Burkina Faso, for sale.” “We usually targeted anyone parking on a street at night. We would open the car door on the driver’s side and force its owner out at gunpoint. Out of the three vehicles I got for Alhaji, he paid N700,000 for the first one, a Toyota Highlander SUV, out of N1 million he promised to pay for it. I got N150,000 as my share. The second one was a Lexus SUV and he paid N800,000, telling us that he needed to carry out repairs because it was faulty. The third one was a Toyota Camry (muscle) car. Alhaji gave me the gun and cartridges. “I was arrested while sleeping in a woman’s house. She was my benefactor and I used to stay in her house whenever I was in Ibadan. My bag was recovered and a gun was seen in it.” The second suspect, Lameed, an Ibadan indigene, aged 40, told the Nigerian Tribune that he was a vulcaniser until the machine stoppe
d working. “I bought a motorcycle, paying in instalments. I became a commercial motorcyclist and met Oluwaseun through it. “On the day I first picked him, he paid me handsomely and asked if I could come back to pick him. I agreed. That was how we became close. On a particular day, I picked him again and he told me to wait after getting to his destination, saying that we would return together. “As I got there, he opened up, telling me that he was into car snatching. I agreed to join him. I joined the gang this year and followed others to a robbery operation, but I didn’t get any money because the Alhaji told us that the Camry car could not be taken across the border since it was faulty.” Salami, who hailed from Saki, confessed to being a receiver of snatched vehicles and an expert in transferring them across the Nigeria-Burkina Faso border. He said that he started receiving vehicles from armed robbers about 10 years ago. “After getting the vehicles from armed robbers, I would take them across the border to Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso where the buyers who are Nigerians would be waiting. “I was once arrested and paraded in Ibadan. I was charged to court and sentenced. I spent 18 months in prison. After regaining freedom, I rested for some time before starting the operations again,” he said. He disclosed that he had received three vehicles from the arrested armed robbers after his release from prison but couldn’t take one of them to Ouagadougou because it stopped functioning along the way. He said that he called others to inform them. “I was on the way when the vehicle stopped working. I called the syndicate members to inform them and abandoned the vehicle at the spot and quickly left. I was afraid I would be caught if it was tracked and traced,” Salami stated. He also confessed to buying a locally-made gun from a French country for one of the arrested suspects, Oluwaseun. According to him, “I contacted Soliu to help me purchase the gun and paid N250,000 for it. I was told that the locally-made guns over there are better than those in Nigeria.” Blaming the devil for his involvement in crime, Salami said that his family members warned him to desist from such negative act but he did not listen to them. “The wife I had then left me and I just married another one. I will never be involved in crime again,” he promised. In his own confession, Soliu said that he knew Salami when he was bringing parboiled rice and cowhide (ponmo) from Ouagadougou to Nigeria. “Things went down for me and he told me he was a car dealer, asking me to join him in the business. I didn’t know he was receiving snatched vehicles. I went with him just once and he gave me N150,000. He was the one who sent me with money to the man he got the gun from. I didn’t know what it was until he unwrapped it in my presence and I saw the gun. I stopped working with him but was recently arrested,” Soliu said. #aidrobberyoperations #gun

It was truly impressive how one moment could shift without warning. How the highest and lowest point in a singular instant in time could reverse and just keep going.
Archie wished for once in his life it went in his favor.
The mercenary knew Oliver and Abigail had succeeded when the room settled: crooked walls straightened, the hallways were no longer elongated stretches of void and he could hear Abigail’s voice from the other room.
The demon knew it too as it bruised skin failed to heal quickly, the smoke curled off its body longer and longer as Archie sunk holy arrow after holy arrow into its form. Its muscles seemed to deflect as Fen rained blow after brutal blow upon it. It was actually pretty disturbing if Archie was going to be honest but he knew better to give pity to a demon.
Archie loosen the arrow notched in his bow but kept a wary eye on their foe. It was time to leave. This demon was trapped in this prison for a reason and Archie was suspecting at the very least it was indestructible. Attempting to destroy it would be pointless and a weakened unkillable demon was still a threat.
Archie paused, unsure how to properly convey his message to the berserk Fen. He inched closer, practically stomping to make sure Fen didn’t whirl around in surprise and attack.
He tapped the paladin’s shoulder gently but Fen paid no him no mind. He cleared his throat but Fen just kept swinging away. Archie snarled, gripping Fen’s shoulder tightly and forcing him to turn.
“What!” Fen glared “Can’t you see I’m busy destroying this demon?”
‘You are serious?’ Archie let his annoyance slip onto his face. He was about pull the paladin away when he saw movement out of the corner of his eye.
The demon, even beaten and in pain, was deceptively quick. It’s elongated arm shot out, aiming for a weak point in the armor.
Archie did not like Fen. Archie thought Fen was unnecessarily combative and stand offish. Fen was a pain to work with and had never once played on a team.
But Archie couldn’t deny who he was.
That’s why he joined the King’s Guard when he lived on the surface.
He acted without thinking, pulling Fen away with as much strength as he could. The claws cut into Fen’s arm but drew little blood. Most of the blood the demon managed to spill came from Archie.
-----
It was impossible to tell who acted quicker: Abigail, Oliver or even Fen.
The trio as acted one for the first time in the short while they knew each other: Oliver said nothing, opting to gesture with a middle finger towards the demon. It let out a pained shriek, reeling backwards as golden musical notes surrounded its head and a dissonance screech thundering in its ears. Fen swung backward, cracking the demon in the jaw and sent it sprawling towards the floor. Abigail raced forward, diving for Archibald's falling form.
For a lanky guy, he was heavier than Abigail was expecting. She barely managed to stop him from hitting the floor with a splat but found herself pinned under him as a result.
“Oh boy Archie” Abigail groaned, struggling to lift the mercenary “You got some weight on you.”
Archie gave a weak smile, his gaze unfocused and distant.
Abigail turned to call for Oliver but the bard was already there, carefully eyeing the wound.
“It’s not too bad” Oliver murmured to himself. He rolled his sleeves up, staining one red with the blood dripping from his hand “But we got to act fast. He’s going to bleed out we don’t get him fixed up.”
“Can you?” Abagail asked, trying her best to keep her voice calm.
Oliver didn’t answer. Instead he held a hand over the open wound, closing his eyes while muttering something under his breath.
The golden musical notes appeared once more and hovered over Archibald. A calming melody began to play as Oliver’s magic took hold. Oliver winced as his own wound knitted itself back together: pinkish skin reforming and sealed where he stabbed himself with the dagger. Archibald’s started to but something went wrong: A malicious energy poured from the wound, hungry and vicious. Oliver’s magic wavered and shimmered out of exist but the wound remained.
Oliver’s face paled, his lips curling into a snarl.
“Oh hell no!”
Oliver rose his hand once again, beads of sweat forming on his forehead as his magic reformed but once again the strange energy appeared and seemed to actively block the bard’s attempts to heal.
Oliver’s eyes grew manic “I am not letting someone else die! Curse or no curse.”
“Curse?” Abigail whispered as a chill ran down her spine “He’s been cursed.”
“A fucking demonic curse.” Oliver explained, frantically digging through his pack “Obviously my magic isn’t enough to break it.”
Abigail nodded numbly “We need holy magic.”
“Which we don’t have.” Oliver responded grimly “You have any thread?”
“Thread?”
“I’m going to try to stitch him up. I’m hoping the curse is only focused on magical cures.”
“R-right.” Abigail’s hand moved on their own, reaching for her pack while she desperately tried to remember where she kept the thread. It wasn’t the easiest thing with one hand but the other was wrapped tightly around Archie’s body. Definitely not the smartest choice but she refused to let go of him.
Abigail’s hand shook as the nerves started to eat at her.
“Talk to me farm girl.” Oliver sounded far off “You need to stay focus.
She took a calming breath “Right. Right. Calm. Are you sure threads would work?”
“No” Oliver admitted “But I’m hoping they last long enough for us to get him to the capital. He needs a real cleric or paladin” he glared openly Fen’s back as the paladin continued his cruel attack on the demon “and we’re going to need every second. Dragging him out the house, up the slope and down the tunnel is going to be a challenge but we have to try.”
The air grew thick with tension, the only sounds were Abigail’s panicked search and thuds of Fen’s assault
“Die demon die!” Fen growled with a righteous fever “I will send you back from whence your came!”
Crunch, squish, crunch, squish, crunch. The repetitive noise of Fen’s wasted efforts.
Oliver tried to keep calm. Oliver tried to focus on the task hand. Oliver wanted nothing more than silence.
Oliver always had a poor control over his mouth.
“WOULD YOU SHUT UP!?”
Abigail stood, shocked at the rage and fury that filled Oliver’s shout.
Fen caught it too. He paused, turning away from his prey and eyed Oliver’s distastefully.
“You dare…?” Fen began, angrily stomping closer to the pair.
“You fucking right I dare!” Oliver shot to his feet, hands clenched to fists “You are joke and worse, not even a funny one. Just a pathetic washed out paladin who doesn’t even realize why his God abandoned him!”
Fen held Oliver’s lute in a deathly grip “I am warning you bard if you push me further….”
“You’ll what?” Oliver roared. He closed the distance and even Fen couldn’t help but take a step back “You’ll attack me? A fellow human? Not very holy of you.”
“I….”
“What’s the point of killing monsters...” Oliver screamed, gesturing to the bleeding Archibald and fearful Abigail “...if there’s no one left to save when you’re done! What’s the point of punishing the wicked if good people have to die for it?”
Fen felt sick as realization washed over him. Young Archibald had gotten severely injured but he been so caught up in his fury he hadn’t realized what occurred.
“I….” Fen began weakly but Oliver wasn’t finished.
“Don’t.” Oliver spoke with an aura of finality “You made your choice. You chose your anger over your duty. If you regret the outcome, you should’ve thought about the choice more carefully. Abigail, thread.”
Abigail nodded and began searching for the elusive thread. Oliver turned away from the stunned paladin and pulled out a fine needle.
“Come on solider boy.” He spoke with a firm tone “You’re not dying on me. If you want to get paid, you’ll keep your breathing steady.”
Fen couldn’t hear what the others were saying. The guilt started to build in the pit of his stomach as his arms grew weak.
How could he fall so far? How could he forget his oath to the Solius, the god who saved his life and gave it meaning? How could he allow his anger, his bitterness poison his intention?
This god hadn’t abandoned him, he had abandoned his god.
He still remembered the quiet pride he shone with when he was anointed a paladin. A nobody from a town that no longer existed finally someone. A higher purpose.
The path to redemption is made by self sacrifice.
He thought it meant punishing the wicked creatures and enemies of Solius, giving his life to endless battle.
He closed his eyes in shame, unable to deny the truth of his failure any longer.
Fen’s eyes flinched as a light seemed to shine from nowhere. He opened his eyes expecting to find the irritating bard using his magic to annoy him further.
Instead he found a beautiful soft light emitting from his hands: an open palm and the weaponized lute glowed with an unearthly beauty.
He glanced towards the other but if they had seen the light, they made no indication of it. He could see the desperation in their actions: Abigail unspooling as much thread she could muster while Oliver threaded the needle in preparation for some makeshift surgery.
Fen looked at his hands once again and realized what Solius hadn’t left him. Not really. He always had been with the paladin but he was too blinded by resentment to notice. Now Solius was silently offering him the choice free of judgment.
What path will you choose: of peace or of war?
Fen was a warrior through and through. He was no healer, having never trained in such arts. He knew the path he chose when he swore himself to the god of redemption. A righteous blade on the mortal plane.
“Hey Archie” Abigail croaked, her voice hoarse with fear “It’ll be okay. Oliver’s just gonna shove a needle into your body.”
Archibald rolled his eyes sarcastically as if saying ‘oh fun’
Oliver pulled the thread to ensure it wouldn’t come loose “Sorry I don’t have medicine or anything to numb the pain or even proper experience but hey, what better way to learn new skills huh?”
Archibald shook his head in disbelief.
“I’ll do my best.” Oliver promised with a surprising amount of sincerity “Hopefully it will be enough.”
“Bard.”
Oliver let out a frustrated groan “Seriously?! Now? Can’t you see that I’m about to perform…”
“Allow me.”
Oliver turned to Fen, surprised to see his lute placed carefully on the floor and the paladin’s hands open in peaceful surrender.
“Can you do it?”
“I believe so.”
Oliver moved, allowing Fen room to work. Fen took a deep breath and gently placed his hands onto the open wound. Archibald flinched but stayed as still as he could manage.
The malicious curse crept forth.
“Solius, lend me your power to save this life. It is not yet time.”
Abigail let out a gasp as a gentle light began to cover Fen’s hands. The curse stretched and thinned under the glow of holy magic, shrinking and shrinking before vanishing completely. Archibald relaxed as his wound began to close, skin stitching itself back together until no trace of the injury remained.
Fen let out a tired sigh “The path to redemption is made through self sacrifice.”
“Don’t start.” Oliver warned “Help me lift him up.”
Oliver spared a quick glance for the demon but it wisely chosen to retreat deeper into the house rather purse a one sided fight. Better live with a pain that would heal slowly than face the group’s wrath.
“I got him” Abigail spoke up quickly “I can do it.”
“Well you heard the lady.”
-----
“There’s no sign of your beasts bard.”
“Not entirely true.” Oliver replied. He took note of the gnashed, clawed marks left upon the exterior of the house when they left.
Aside from the various scratch marks left all over the floor and outside of the walls, there was no sign of the mysterious creatures that chased them down the tunnel.
“That’s a lucky break” Oliver breathed in relief.
Archibald flipped off Oliver.
“Relatively.” Oliver corrected “How you feeling solider boy?”
Archibald shot him a glance that screamed ‘you seriously asking me that?’
“Force of habit. Sorry. Not sorry.”
The group stood at the mouth of the tunnel. With Fen’s help, they managed to get Archibald to the top with little trouble.
Abigail slowly approached the paladin “What will you do now?”
Fen paused, taking a moment to answer.
“I am not sure.” he admitted truthfully “As much as I despise your bard, he has given me much to think about.”
“I have that effect on people.” Oliver beamed with pride.
Abigail jabbed her elbow into his side.
“Rude.”
Fen gave a light chuckle “Thank you bard. I still hate you though.”
Oliver gave a noncommittal shrugged “I hate you too but you don’t have to like someone to learn something from them.”
“I am not giving you that one.”
“Yeah that tracks.”
Fen turned to Archibald “Will you be alright? I can accompany you to Haven’s Nest if you wish.”
Archibald waved him off and gestured to Abigail with a flexing motion.
“Thanks!” Abigail smiled brightly.
Fen grinned “I understand and I apologize for my lack of….everything. I will work on that.”
Archibald nodded in understanding.
“Goodbye” Fen turned towards the path to West End “Abigail, Archibald take care. Bard I hope I never see you again.”
“Same here paladork!”
-----
Abigail understood why Oliver chose the unexplored tunnel when they had been chased by the strange creatures: With Abigail carrying Archibald, it had taken the group an hour to reach the city gate. At full sprint it would’ve taken at least 20 minutes to reach but there was no way the group could’ve ran that length without the risk of tripping.
The city gate wasn’t too much different than the walls that surrounded Abigail’s hometown: Instead towering walls designed to be too tall to climb, it was a thick metal door built in the path of the tunnel mouth. There were a pair of guards stationed on their side of the wall, lazy and distracted.
“What happened to him?” one of the guards gestured to Archibald.
“A bad time. Gate closed?”
The other guard shook his head “Nah. We heard a commotion down the tunnel so we decided to shut it in case.”
Oliver nodded “Good call. Let us in?”
“Oi, I ask the questions. What’s your business in the capital?”
Abigail began to open her mouth but Oliver cut her off “Bard competition. They’re my roadies.”
“What’s a roadie?” One guard asked dumbly.
“My help. I’m a pretty big deal.”
The guards sneered “Sure big deal. Sing us something.”
Oliver looked at his fingernails “You can hear me sing at the competition. I don’t do free shows.”
“Fucking bards” the guard murmured under his breath as he knocked on the door with a booming thud.
Abigail could the creaking and groaning of clogs and springs and chains moving in unison. The door began to lift inch by inch. Abigail couldn’t help but lean forward, hoping to soak in her first experience at an underground city. However, instead of whatever she had been expecting, she found herself staring at a large circular cavern.
There were a few people about deep in conversion as well a handful of guards scattered around. Merchants calling in different tongues hoping to make a sale for their wares. On the far end was an identical metal door that no doubt led to the actual city. To either side the cavern walls that were covered with nonsensical graffiti: Phrases in various languages, different images in varying art styles.
“Processing?” Abigail asked with a tone of certainty.
“Yep. It’ll be a few minutes.” Oliver answered while he looked about.
Abigail shifted Archibald so he could be more comfortable “Did you want to sit?”
Archibald shook his head.
“Alright but if you get tired let me know.”
A thumbs up in response.
“Oliver….” Abigail whirled around only to find the bard scribbling some strange symbol among the mess of whatever what was on the wall “OLIVER!”
Oliver paid no mind to her, opting to finish whatever he was doing and making his way back to the other two.
Abigail rose an eyebrow “What was that about?”
“I like doodling. I get bored easily.”
“I was talking to Archie for like a second.”
“Bored.” Oliver repeated unhelpfully “Besides they magically clean the walls every night. Come on let’s get in line.”
True to Oliver’s word, it hadn’t taken long to get through the processing: The same questions asked by the guards in front, a quick magical scan from the cleric to ensure nothing demonic was entering, a search to see if anyone was carrying anything illegal. A few minutes had passed and the trio was waved through.
Archibald regained enough strength to walk on his own albeit slowly. The group was among a handful other people eagerly waiting for the gate to open when a guard had given them some strange item. It looked like two thin marshmallows.
“What is this about?” Abigail asked only to find Oliver and Archibald place the strange item into their ears. Having no choice, Abigail followed suit.
The gate slowly opened, pulling to the side instead upwards.
Abigail leaned forward, catching her first glimpse of Haven’s Nest.

So as I said in the story before, I was making a design for sum new characters This was started from a conversation about constellation and horoscope stuff, qhich they said I was Leo and my represented planet was the sun. Meanwhile I was listening to a love song about man fell in love with the Moon, so I guess that's the beginning of this story :P Honestly this Riko version doesn't represent me at all because its impossible for me to be such a mannered grown up man (idk how I will be in the future but right now its impossible) so I gave him a much more fancy name. Sol & Luna is Sun & Moon in Spanish which related to the main story as well. But I thought that's too simple, so I've given them much more fancy names, I present you: Solius Chaneveau & Lunasse Saullevéstel Still Sol & Luna can be use as short name/alias :p) I'm developing story fpr them, which is still in progress. So keep an eye on it xD Rita asked me to be some kind of gentleman instead of some edgy boy, hope she'll happy by now >:v https://www.instagram.com/p/B0Ld9WbHO0b/?igshid=1tc919jegiq3r

Among the known lands and the provinces of Gilstrad, nothing stirs more unease than the lands of Vigril. Ever since the darkness had started to creep throughout the lands, it was the first one to receive its blight as the province lies northmost of Gilstrad, too near to the Silent Reach that leads up to the Foglands and the wretched mountain of Storvoss. And so with Dea’s disappearance and the slow waning of her celestial blessing, the lands started to fall deeper into the maws of evil. Half of it is only habitable nowadays, by people who had nowhere else to go or just those who are brave enough to follow fortune as they say that treasures are left behind from the populace’s hasty escape, that and there are certain plants and minerals that can only be found in the north despite its craggy terrain. Anyone else how lives in the rather ghostly parishes and priories of Virgil, under the gray gloom of nearly sunless days and nights, are mostly Cathars and Inquisitors who are keeping the northern border as protected as it could be, a line of defense that must be kept to ensure the safety of Gilstrad. No wonder that though humans fear the province, to serve the Cathedral in Vigril could give any denizen hunter a special pride if not a rite of passage.
SOLIUS
With most of the parishes in Vigril have already succumbed into the darkness that Dea’s blessings failed to keep on check, Solius was the province’s shining beacon of salvation – or their last bastion of ever surviving to say the least. Compared to any other place aside from the province of Ordhovh, Solius is probably the most populated by the forces of the Cathedral, all taking refuge in the great Saint Solius Stronghold: an impenetrable fortress that has been holding off any threat from the unknown north way before demons even manifested in the lands of Gilstrad. As such, Solius is currently the safest place in all of Vigril, and farmsteads and other opportunities for trade are all established within the walls of the three-castled citadel. The Highvow is the biggest keep and the highest point in the stronghold. It is where the command post of Solius, and probably the rest of Vigril stand, under the council of Lord Paladins and Inqusitor Generals. The biggest faction in the keep, as they had been settled in there since the crusade of the Angels against the forces of evil, is The Envowed under the leadership of Lord Gereint Orus. The western keep is Lightstead that is more of a monastery for priests and exorcists and other clergymen who were also tasked to tend to the chapels, churches, and klaads inside the stronghold. The eastern castle is the Archagon. While it is the smallest and least populated with only some rooms used as offices and probably storage, the Reliquary of Archagon is one of the greatest treasures of Virgil. Within it lies Soluskirg, the sword of the Archangel Vardael of the Stoneheart, claimed to be as the one who built Solius itself. Some say that if the sword leaves the rock that it was struck in, the whole fortress will crumble.

Eilvuntr lies north of the fort-city and one of the current threats in Vigril. Known to the locals as the Parishmount, Eilvuntr is the place where the people of Virgil once buried their dead. They believed that to be buried along the craggy mountain was to be close to the heavens and thus ensured the eternal slumber that was paramount to every citizen of Gilstrad. And so when the darkness came to spread its malice, Eilvuntr was the first ones who fell prey to it as the then dearly departed turned into hordes of undead that are still roaming the now empty and hollow cathedrals and crypts that were built all over the city during its time.
To the south is Orphusa, the second parish of Solius and is considered to be the actual trade route of the priory. It lies behind the protection of the stronghold and as such, people have more freedom in tending to their businesses, till the land, herd their sheep, and curd their cheeses. But even though they have achieved some semblance of comfort, the people of Orphusa have been known to be stoic; too much horror, too much loss, and too much suffering have had a great effect on their emotions. While they remain steadfast onto their fate, the fear that was left in their hearts soon turned into shields that enabled them to face the incoming days. Gloomy mornings are usually spent in solemnity as the people are more focused to finish their tasks before the haunting nights fill their streets.
TRAGONA
Dea forbid a tragedy alike Tragona.
The fall of Tragona could be considered as one of the moments in the Cathedral’s history where the darkness that came after Dea’s disappearance finally started to put a stir into the hearts of the people of Gilstrad.  In fact, to consider it a priory is merely formality as not only it has turned out to be a no man’s land, but ever since it fell to the demon legion after Dea’s imprisonment in the Cairlum, no human had ever set foot in it. To this day, no one knows what Tragona is now, or if there is ever a glimmer of hope of rebuilding it.
Delvinna is the only parish under the tutelage of Tragona. And as unfortunate as the fate of the priory, Delvinna too had fallen into the hands of darkness. Though what sets it apart from the priory is that the reason behind its fall: something that had come from a malice-wrought miasma that had brought forth a plague into the parish. Rumors say that it was a demon that was behind it and it was already too late for the angels to save Delvinna even if they had taken down the beast. But rumor or not, necromancers and demon-bound witches seem to take an interest in the abandoned town, in hopes of recreating the once frightening malady.

AUWYNNA
Among the priories of Gilstrad, Auwynna is probably the only one that has received the title of Vacuam Sedem Priorum, or the Seatless Priory. Not because the Cathedral is out of priests to give out, but because Auwynna is a place of lawlessness. While everyone from the northern parts of Vigril have already moved down to the protected walls of Solius, Auwynna remained standing for one reason alone: illegal trade. Only the heartless and the brave dare to stay within the priory, but it is only the bold that gets riches unmatched. That is why peddlers and trappers from the north who wanted to  sell their wares that could very much be frowned upon and confiscated by the ironclad guardsmen of Solius stays in Auwynna to gamble a ferry down along the Eastirling for a passage down south. It is true that the trek is perilous, but with hunger and poverty knocking louder than the threat of phantasmal doom, some dared threw caution to the wind.
And with Auwynna even barely production, much more populated enough, it’s only parish was very much left in utter ghastly disarray. Iksios stands north of Auwynna, still along the shores of the Eastirling, and its desolation is far obvious for the ships that sail the capricious waves of the sea: no lighthouse, wrecked docks, and half sunken ships have always veered people away. And it wasn’t only because of the sight, legend has it that in the middle of the panic that made people move down to Auwynna, one of the ships that was readying for its sail burst in flames and killed everyone inside. Now they have become accursed: either in form of the drowned undead or geists that stand along the ruined docks, waving at passing ships for a chance to be saved.
PARTINA
The last priory of Vigril, in the literal and figurative sense of the word, is located south of the walls of Solius, the lands of Partina. While it was fortunate to be protected by the stronghold in the north, the people of Partina and its parishes still have shared the pain and suffering that the people of Vigril have harbored; all too stoic and solemn as they work along the rolling hills of the lands under the gray skies. And with the migrations that has happened and despite the welcoming embrace of the priory and parishes, there had been settlements that has been formed in between and along the lands. Some meant to start a new life, though some are built on more nefarious motivations.
But still, despite the Cathedral’s best efforts, not everyone beyond the walls of the Stronghold has received the protection that it needed. Harrow Lake, is the name that they call the parish nowadays – back then, it was the picturesque fields of Barrow Lake. Back then, they too have received the blessing of Dea, a newly built town that had so much future in store for them. But when the seraph disappeared after the events of the battle against Malgorus, her grace had slowly crippled the wards that had once protected the town. And when the merciless pack of Kreghaul caught onto the shift in the air, Barrow Lake was left in chaos within a span of two days with the church of Saint Elise lying in ruin. Now, only the pillagers of what were left, or fugitive drifters, manage to course through the desolate parish and by fate they sometimes live, sometimes die, sometimes…they become one of them.
Aegsynyr was Vigril’s answer to the fallen town of Harrow Lake. With Wudwesen protecting Bardelven from the fate of the parish, Aegsynyr protected the north. Inquisitors and Paladins that come up to Solius were usually asked about their skills and experience if they weren’t already a cathar that grew within the northern ranks. And all that have dealt with wolves are sent down to Aegsynyr to hold off any attack and help caravans to travel down south had they reach the need to do so.
Migdeera is the farthest point of Vigril to the south and while it remains under the jurisdiction of Partina, it is probably the parish in the province that had the most amount of bustling chaos as it is the trade post of Vigril to Bardelven and to Enduinn. But despite the mercantile nature of the parish, it is very much within the grasp of the Cathedral as the usual products that go in there are the things that the Stronghold needs like wood and metal and even trappings.

⚡️ for Xal !
Thanks for asking
⚡️ - Excited rambling about something my muse loves.
(Guess who found new books on magic theory and on storm magic ? Yep. And who got contacted by former enchanters of the Ostwick Circle ? Yep again. )
Is this a dream ? I must be dreaming. First of all, while cleaning the dusty room downstairs, underneath Josie’s, a whole new library of books. And amongst them, tomes about storm magic, field spells, arcanes, healing magic too… A gold mine ! I managed to take them before Dorian arrived… Josephine also made a deal with some other librarians and enchanters across Thedas, and we’re exchanging books - I have to thank her. And also ! Enchanter Solius contacted me, he was my professor back in my Circle days, and he wanted me to join them in their researches ! It’s a huge thing ! Usually they don’t take young enchanters - I’m only junior enchanter, and only 24 years old. And I’ll be studying magic. I never thought that could happen, I’ve wanted this since I entered the Circle. I’ll have to make room here in Skyhold for my researches. I’ll ask Josephine if it’s okay and if there’s a spare room ?
Too many things to remember, I’ll just put a small list : -Thank Josie : dinner, some Orlesian theater. Or let her choose. Yes. -Continue cleaning that study room - I’ll propose it to Dorian, although I think he likes his place in the library…-Reply to Enchanter Solius. -Talk about that book with Dorian.
-A page of the not-so private journal of Inquisitor Xalynir Trevelyan
you can send one if you want :)

Haunted __ doll that drinks all your pepsi and calls you a bitch
I thought, wouldn't it be nice to have a John version of this?
