When a small-town con artist joins the local mafia with his manipulative brother, his obsession with balancing his karma gets hilariously brutal.

There's not a whole lot of story, and that "Karma"/good old Catholic guilt wasn't really funny (and thankfully got resolved at the end). But if your'e a fan then it's fun to watch Bjarne Mädel and Georg Friedrich goofing around. With an amusing bonus appearance by Maren Kroymann.

I think the main reason I've started watching Para: We are King was because there are not a lot of series here where you have people with a migration background in lead roles that are not used as a laughing stock or as a way to enhance stereotypes (*cough* Türkisch für Anfänger *cough*) so I thought why not try it out. I think it is so important for people to see themselves on tv, to feel seen, to feel heard. It is important to see these flawed characters trying their best and still fucking up. It is important that yes, maybe they are partly fulfilling stereotypes, maybe they are not, but that is not what matters the most. These characters have layers to them the same way that you shouldn't put labels on real people because you never know someone's whole story and you shouldn't judge someone just because you think you have the right. People are allowed to make mistakes and fuck up and then do better again. People deserve better than they get. Equally important it is for me to get to watch these storylines that I don't relate to at all but that still have characters that I get. I don't have to relate to everything.
