HELLO ANON I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO ANSWERING THIS ASK SINCE I GOT IT (im going to assume you mean byler fics since that is my most recent specialty🫶):

a cruel summer with you by the amazing @campbyler is by FAR one of my all time favorite fics. never in my entire four year fic reading career have i read something that obviously has so much love (and lore) put into it. if you haven’t read it already (or interacted with their blog, which i highly suggest!) this would be one of my first picks! (anything by suni or thea or andi is guaranteed to strike you speechless, though, so definitely check them out as authors, too!)

take a little moment (find the right words) by my lovely friend @astrobei is definitely also in my top all time bc i am SUCH a sucker for college aus it’s not even FUNNY. anything by suni is a banger, honestly, but this one specifically nails the miscommunication/idiots in love trope AND has rotund ducks. what is not to love.

a body in motion (also by @astrobei) is one of the best and most visceral mike character studies i have ever read. i’ve read it twice and the playlist has a permanent place in my spotify library. i don’t think i need to say any more.

sleeping with the lights on by singingseok is another mike character study that tore my heart from my chest and made me watch as it picked it apart and sewed it back together. okay. it’s SO good i highly recommend it for sure!

literally anything by @parkitaco is going to be fantastic, but three of my personal faves are the gaps and the silence, the windows of this love, and you were bigger than the whole sky because apparently i love sobbing into my pillow in the middle of the night. it’s healthy sometimes.

the strawberries are dying by my favorite doopel @lighthouseas is PERFECT if you’re looking for a unique take on byler with a historical spin <3 im a SUCKER for historical aus as well so this great depression fic was so incredibly perfect hehe

landslide by chamb3rs is. it’s so good i don’t even have words. it captures the spirit of senior year of high school so well, especially now that i’m in it lol. anyway, i’ve read this one twice and will continue to read it again for the rest of forever <3

Can someone please explain to me how Disney’s Descendants had Hades (before he was revealed to be Mal’s father) going from looking like this in the cartoon shorts:

Extremely accurate to his original design. No fire hair since I guess he’s supposed to look more “normal and human-like” but at least the hair style suits him. Looks like a slicked back, sleazy business man hairdo lol.

To frickin this?:

Looks NOTHING like his original design (not even with the hair) and hardly acts like the original Hades (he acts and dresses like a washed up rock star rather than a sleazy, bitter used car salesman, I could tell they tried to make up for it with him being all sarcastic and sassy, but it didn’t have the same effect the original Hades had).

So bizarre to me lmao. I mean, I know the original Hades is hard to replicate since his facial structure borderlines inhuman, but c’mon. I’ve seen the live actors at Disneyworld and Disneyland and I’ve seen cosplayers that do a better Hades than this. I know this is basically a big ol “modern fairytale au” of the Disney universe so everyone looks fairly human, but I mean, if you can’t look like Hades then at least ACT like Hades, y’know?

But then again, I’m not surprised because a lot of the original villains in the Descendants series were ooc. Like Cruella was no longer this snobbish woman who loves all things fashion. She was basically insane. Talking to a fake dog plushie and acting crazy while also having a huge fear/hatred of dogs. Maleficent was no longer the mistress of all evil, very regal and refined, and scared you out of your wits with one look from her. She was turned into this silly, quirky Broadway singing villainess that was obsessed with power. So…yeah, as I said, doesn’t surprise me that Hades’ personality changed in the movie series. But still as a Hades simp, I would’ve really liked to see Hades portrayed accurately.

And YES ACTUALLY I do have tips, but they're not my own!! Whenever someone asks me for tips on dragons I always love to redirect to the tutorials on dragons sammy torres did, all of which you can find [ HERE ]

These tutorials are like The Bible for drawing anything dragon related. Not only are they beginner friendly, they are expert friendly as well, in my opinion. These are an immense help to anyone looking to do dragons, and there is one for every different part that one might have trouble with! And honestly, I feel extremely confident linking these because they word everything much better than I could

Other than that, I think dragons are generally really subjective as creatures. There's classic dragons, but the term 'dragon' applies so broadly to so many shapes that its extremely hard to go wrong with designs. Theyre one of the things that lend themselves the most to experimentation with shapes, bodies, features, etc, so even though these tutorials might nudge dragons in a specific way dont be afraid to experiment with anything youd like to explore :]

My one wish however is to make sure every dragon has proper wings though for that refer to [ THIS ] post of mine thank u for ur time

My Daisy Jones & the Six — Episode 1-3 Thoughts and Rating

(the following post contains spoilers)

I’m truly enjoying this adaptation, it’s obvious that production and the writers have worked tirelessly to capture the essence of the book. Most of the changes and character development for this format have been *chefs kiss* (zero notes for Miss Camila —she’s killing it. Karen, Graham and Warren are gems, Eddie’s ire is perfectly palpable, and Billy’s battle with addiction so far has been so hard to watch)

But I am beginning to understand the frustration of the critics (I peeked lol). Despite the amazing sets and incredible props and wardrobe, there is no true immersion in the decade (for example leaving out Chuck being drafted or the details and atmosphere of LA in the early 70s after the ‘Summer of Love’ to help world build). I have to admit also being disappointed thus far with the lackluster character building for Daisy’s life prior to joining the band.

They’ve completely glossed over a lot of what made her seemingly fascinating and magnetic in the first place. Book Daisy was like part of the furniture of Sunset Strip. Sightings of her hanging out at the Riot House or backstage of seedy venues. She receives perks everywhere just because she had this undeniable energy about her and this follows her as she joins the band. She’s someone everyone (besides her parents) wanted around (that’s even how she met Simone). The book literally uses the phrase ‘It Girl’ and Simone’s line “If the rest of the world was silver, Daisy was gold” to articulate this. We got a 10 second clip of her cutting the line, dancing, and drinking down the strip in the first episode but it didn’t do much to color in the vivid personality that TJR wrote about.

I didn’t mind all changes, though. And the line they used “I wasn’t naïve. I was a baby” I wouldn’t change for anything. It captures the truth of what it was like for a lot of young girls on the Strip at that time that were on the scene as a way to be apart of something bigger than themselves (something that easily should’ve been included). But they really did just scratch the surface, especially when you consider the fact that this is a show not a film. The scenery hasn’t been fleshed out. Even the pacing of the first episode felt thrown off because of it.

Early Daisy’s entire personality is that she’s this tall, rich, white, young, beautiful LA native that has never had to work for anything. What could she possibly bring to the table? Her music is the thing she’s willing to push for, her determination, her writing and her integrity. And when she meets the band, things start making sense (at least music wise). I’m glad they’ve kept her as true to herself as possible though, she really does stick up for herself even in the face of doubt.

So far she’s lost a bit of that magnetism that the book easily captures but I love Riley so I am optimistic about the next batch of episodes.

Rating, ⭐️ — 4 out of 5 stars

Let me walk you through this glorious interaction from the 2011 French Open trophy ceremony because i'm never getting tired of it:

The FFT president insists that Jim should stand between Fedal.

Jim goes 'lol no thanks' and pushes Roger towards Rafa.

He then leans towards Roger and says 'better' (and by 'better' he really means 'you can thank me later'), putting a huge smile on Roger's face.

Meanwhile, the fucking FFT president desparately tries to pull Rafa away from Roger (with very little success).

Rafa is of course completely oblivious to the whole thing as usual as he's too busy fighting against his own hair (and incidentally the FFT president).

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-

Okay, first: you were so incredible as Horatio. Every acting decision was so spot-on and I particularly loved the subtlety you brought to the character - your horror at the revelation of R&G’s deaths, your quiet role as a member of audience observing the scenes as much as an actor yourself, etc etc. It was subtle but super effective in telling a much more complex and layered version of Hamlet than I normally see performed live. I am trying very hard not to embarrass myself by fangirling too much about it.

Second: yes, please do, because she definitely deserves all the praise for her performance. But also please know that that will almost certainly kill me in a “mortifying ordeal of being known” kind of way. 😂

(My friends are still teasing me about seeing it multiple times and now they’ll never let me live this down…I’ve just run a Hamlet blog for over a decade and studied it while a fellow at Folger Shakespeare Library, so it’s a play that’s very close to my heart. And when you see something you love performed so well, it’s hard not to make a million posts about it 😅)
