aight ok so gundam has a less strong reaction towards movies (unless it’s animal related, he will then fall to his knees and start monologuing) (or he will start bawling his eyes out if it's sad). kazuichi my boy, on the other hand, is a major pussy. his reactions are always pure and utter raw emotion, if it's scary he will shit his pants, if it's sad he will be a destroyed sobbing mess, etc. etc. it's literally just souda being souda.

gundam's favorite genre is horror, cuz ooh spooky and nice film direction, while kazuichi obv likes action and comedy and what not. (i'd also like to think both of them like animated movies/shows/TV in general, since they probably grew up with it so they bond over that too) gundam's not as fond of comedy but will watch it because he likes seeing kazuichi giggle and laugh and just having fun :,,,,3

kazuichi tries to return the favor by watching horror films with gundam, but unfortunately he always gets scared shitless less than halfway through. but hey, free cuddles!!! i love them SO SO MUCH ARGHHHHHHHHHH i want to squeeze them until they pop /pos

As you are the Soudham CEO of my mutuals I want to know who asks who out first and why did the other say yes?

first of all WHAT AN HONOUR to be the soudam CEO in your mutuals! so i think that Gundham's dramatic speaking gets worse the more a situation is foreign or stressful to him. While he's confident that Kazuichi likes him back (that guy's not subtle let's face it) he would lack the proper phrasing to actually ask Kaz out? He'd be making wild confessions that fly miles above Kaz's head, wrapped up in metaphors about ruling over the underworld and whatnot. In the meantime Kazuichi isn't very good at feeling out what others think of him, especially not expecting Gundham to feel romantically about him. He's just glad that they get to hang out with his ex-rival, silently crushing and not realizing the feeling is mutual. At some point he'd just crack and spill it all out, albeit clumsily.

Gundham would agree because he's been trying to say the exact same thing for a while, it just never got across

they definitely are the kings of miscommunication, but in a very harmless way

despite my general neutrality towards soudam they do share some similar traits (they both have these "personas" that they present themselves with, both dress funny, both wear eyeliner and have daddy issues lol they're both cringe) so you would think i would be more open to shipping just the two of them 😔 too bad they freaking hate each other too much SIGHHH

speaking of dressing funny, i love the visual of seeing a sharp-toothed mechanic who dresses bright and loud, a breeder goth dude who dresses dark and will wear a scarf in 90-degree weather, and then a regular guy in a tie and button up shirt :) like what are THOSE guys up to lmao

whether they're standing, sitting, lying down, it's preferred that hajime remains in between the two of them. it's a bit more civil that way making gundham and kazuichi interact NICELY is like trying to make the same poles of a magnet touch, there's that repel between them. BUT it's similar to having kaz hang out with sonia + gundham. they CAN come together but you still have to force it lol

whenever gundham goes OFF on one of his incomprehensible spiels, hajime is used to it and understands a majority of what he's trying to say but kazuichi's brain still melts a little bit each time he attempts to decipher gundham's ramblings. he doesn't bother half of the time, he'd rather just have haji decipher it for him

oh my goodness.........KAZ MY BELOVED. i've spent well over 2 hours non stop writing all of this out lol help me😭 i love him so much, he is my favourite character of everything ever, so thank you very much for asking about him!! i hope this is enjoyable to read, and to anyone who doesn't like him all that much, maybe reading this will change your mind! :) <3<3<3

favourite thing about them: so many things, he is so so so special to me!!!! he also partially reminds me of myself, and i am very attached to him :) i love his character design (and i love that it's explained yknow? it's not like oh yeah he has naturally pink hair for no reason), i love his voice and speech patterns, i love how clingy he is, how realistically scared he is compared to some other characters considering he took part in a literal killing game, how smart he is, how 'normal' his talent is (it's a realistic talent idea for a school like hopes peak, its a normal talent someone could develop after years of working in their family's shop, and its academic so the school would want him yknow? like no offense to e.g. mondo, i love him but why would they want a biker gang leader in a school like that lol😭) anyway i'm already rambling and im only on the first question oops lol. final favourite thing to mention is his tiny braid. soooo cute n silly. and i love his earrings. and how one sleeve of his jumpsuit is cuffed higher than the other. okay no i need to stop rambling now

least favourite thing about them: i don't like how he's so often dismissed as just a comedy character or a pervert or whatever. i wish he'd been written in a little more depth so he could be given a chance by fans who automatically dislike him. i love him so much and i want everyone to experience the joy of loving him!!! he is a sweetheart inside i promise

favourite line: engines revving!!!!! ✊😛✊ lol i also like i'll bury you and your hamsters 6 feet under!!!! and general gundham insults they all make me giggle

brotp: literally EVERYONE omg, i love his friendship potentials with the whole sdr2 cast! buuut some i particularly enjoy are ibuki, fuyuhiko, akane and mahiru :) kaz and ibuki would be so SILLY together i love them, i wrote a pekobuki fic with her and kaz being bffs and it was so much fun to write! she would love to put his hair into fun styles and paint his nails :) fuyuhiko aaa i love them together (also love them as a ship) i like the idea of fuyu being the voice of reason between them, telling kaz off when he needs to and keeping him grounded in reality! akane would sooo be like a sister to him i love her, they would get into lots of mischief together, have food fights, wrestle in mud etc lol. then mahiru aww also so like a sister to him, but akane is more like a twin and mahiru more like a big sister :) mahiru would help him look after himself, help him comb chewing gum out of his hair if hiyoko sticks it in there lol etc. also love him and nekomaru as friends too and ughh i could literally list every character here with a specific headcanon for their dynamic

otp: i'm gonna have to say soudam!! i absolutely adore them, they're so sweet and i think about them all the time :) they could be so good for each other if they settled their differences. one of my favourite dynamics is that gundham has feelings for him but kaz is just too silly to notice lol. i've published 9 fics on ao3 so far, 4 of which are soudam, including a 5-chapter fic (i normally just write oneshots, and the only other future multi chapter fics i have basic mental plots for are also soudam lol so you can tell i love them) they are just so special to me :) some other kaz ships i enjoy are him with fuyuhiko(!!), hajime, and i also quite like him with nekomaru too! :) and my fave non sdr2 ship for him is leon, their ship name is bubblegum rock, isn't that just the cutest name ever?!

notp: if there's gonna be a notp it's gonna have to be sounia, i love them both dearly as characters but just not together. my interpretation of his crush on her is that he is gay, and uses her as a fake crush to hide his sexuality to avoid getting bullied, and his reasoning is that she's a very conventially attractive blonde PRINCESS, nobody would question him for having a crush on her, right?? hence why he finds her hobbies weird etc and doesn't show an interest other than "wow she's so hot" lol. i don't think he realises at ALL how uncomfortable he makes sonia, he's just glad that she doesn't like him so he doesn't have to actually be in a relationship (my 5 chapter soudam fic started with this idea by the way!) and i like to think that if she sat down with him and properly explained why it's not right, he'd cave in and come out and apologise a lot and cry :( also think his treatment of her is partly just, he doesn't understand social cues and social norms very well (me too kaz me too) so he just is doing his best to appear normal :'(

random headcanon: when he listens to music, he sings and dances around his room with a hairbrush!!! but he would be VERY embarrassed if anyone found out :) i have lots of silly little headcanons like this for him that im probably going to post one day! i just think about him 24/7 so i have lots of things like this to say

unpopular opinion: i've seen quite a few people headcanon him as having adhd before, but i personally see him closer to being autistic! not sure really why, i just do! :)

a song that you associate with them: even though he's my favourite character ever i still found this super tricky to answer, song questions don't come easily to me i guess. but! my favourite artist right now is poppy, so "immature couture" by poppy! she has lots of different genres of songs but this one is SO girly and camp and i think kazuichi would love it and secretly listen to it a lot and dance around his room with his hairbrush microphone :'))) here's a link to the song!

so i recently had a vision.

so obviously bc the world is literally destroyed it’s not like kazuichi can come across hair dye growing on trees or something

(ik they showed him having full pink in the pictures of them during the tragedy in d3 but this is using real logic not anime logic)

so eventually, his hair is gonna be black again as the pink grows out. and if you think about it, he probably doesn’t have his contacts either.

and based hajime’s crazy hair growth, his hair would’ve already been majorly grown out.

none of them have seen his natural hair and eye color, so they’re very surprised by it.

anyway i’m sorta rambling now but i’ve been thinking of writing smth along the lines of kaz basically shutting himself in his cabin bc he’s afraid of how his friends will think of him when he’s forced to be “normal”

Today I’m just thinking about Soda being in love with Gundham’s stubble. Like Gundham shaves pretty much daily and usually wakes up before Soda, so Soda doesn’t get a lot of chances to see it but when he does he’s just like !!!!🥰🥰

Like Soda definitely loves Gundham clean shaven, but there’s something about getting to see his stubbley face some mornings that makes him feel special (Not to mention Gundham looks extra handsome with it lol). No one else gets to see it, no one else gets to annoyingly rub against it with their own stubble, and no one else gets to feel it tickling their skin when Gundham finally wakes up and kisses him senseless (because he knows it’s the only way to get Soda to stop for a bit lol)

Soda just really likes that he gets to see part of Gundham that other people don’t, and sometimes, after they’ve been together for a long time, Gundham will just not shave on the weekend. He’ll lounge around the house and let Soda get his fill of Gundham stubble before shaving it off again on Monday. Soda will just spend the whole weekend staring at him lovingly and scratching his cheeks and generally being a lovestruck idiot, and that’s something Gundham loves almost as much as Soda loves Gundham’s stubble lol

I know, I know you guys are tired of seeing random posts about the Single dad fic but whatever, my blog, my hyperfixation-

Okay so I’m finally sitting down and working out the timeline and it’s making me realize a lot of stuff is off about the original fic... because originally I didn’t give a shit about the timeline. But now, I realize that Kazuichi is gonna be getting custody of his daughter... like a week or two before Halloween. Because Sonia’s birthday is October 13. So that should be interesting. 

A couple of other things:

Mayumi is late August baby!

Kazuichi had just started the college year like, a month ago... before having to drop out. I don’t know if that’s worse than if he was halfway through the year or not.

Gundham and Ibuki are the oldest. It was either that or I made them the youngest but then the pair would’ve been the only two not old enough to drink at Sonia’s party. 

Edit: I thought about it more and it actually makes more sense that Gundham and Ibuki are the youngests... so that’s a little fun fact! :D uh... yeah, they were only 20 at the party. Whoops.

I don’t know why but I just thought this was all interesting and actually makes the world feel a little more natural. Like before it was just existing in this void with a vague sense of time but now I can properly write the seasons and holidays and such! Opens up a whole new list of possibilities. ^^

ok so obviously, that OTP is definitely Soudam

which makes things difficult cause of Kazuichi's motion sickness. Gundham has an internship opportunity in a wildlife refuge in the countryside, and Kaz kinda wants to tag along, regardless. Gundham drives, but he doesn't have a car so Kaz refurbishes an old broken van and uses that as an excuse to turn a work trip into a fun outing, under the pretense that he'd need to be there if the van breaks which it does, a lot it's not because Kaz isn't a good mechanic tho, he just has to deal with a very broken machine to begin with. Gundham is originally very serious about the trip, but as small and inconsequential troubles keep happening upon them, he warms up and gradually drops his edgelord facade to just kind of have a good time with his boyfriend. They're both kind of miserable from exhaustion and motion sickness but they enjoy each other's presence and it's all that matters when you're fixing a broken van in the middle of fields

Soudam Week 2023 - Day 7: Loneliness

A/N: The dawn of the final day! I had Day’s 1 and 7 were written both on the same day and were written as parallels for the boys. Like bookends. I loved looking at all the submissions people did - they were so well done and cute!

Enough rambling from me lol Please enjoy!

CW: kids mentioned and slight canon divergence that I want to day share with you guys

Day 7: Loneliness 

Loneliness was something Gundham was intimately familiar with.

Growing up in a single household, with a mother who was working more than she was at home, he learned to fend for himself pretty quickly. He never resented his mother for being gone so long, he understood that she was doing all she could to ensure he was provided for.

But sometimes, the feeling of betrayal and guilt would rear, because he was for a time jealous of his middle school classmates who had both parents love. And then he would remember his mother’s exhausted face and cramping fingers and feel shame at the thought.

And then, at 12, she was gone. Gundham was now truly alone, aside from his beautiful animals and his love for the dark arts. He did side jobs to ensure none were the wiser of his orphan status, for his mother’s maternal home was all he had to remember her by and he refused to let it go so easily.

Then, at 16, he was recognized as the Ultimate Breeder, and soon found himself surrounded by other ‘unique’ people. With his class, he found himself surrounded and even befriended, but he still felt alone. Even among the unusual, Gundham still managed to stand out; a beacon of otherness that even those who grew close to him still could not fathom.

Until Kazuichi actually looked at him for the first time. And oh, how it felt to be seen.

A coward who still poked and taunted a demon with a caviler flair that made it just enticing enough to keep it entertaining. The taunting turned to mutual respect and soon the mechanic became something more to him. 

He never expected for the feelings to be recuperated, and will never be more grateful that not only were they reciprocated, but also that Kazuichi was the one to kiss him first. It felt like something awakened within him, as though it had been waiting for the neon mechanic.

He felt whole for the first time since losing his mother, only to soon lose it as both the mechanic and Chiaki were lost to them due to the ravings of a demented blonde.

Then, he spent nearly two years wandering the rapidly growing wasteland of Japan, Despair coloring his every perception of the world. He kept himself away from everyone, even his friend and disciple. For what was the world without his beloved?

He felt nothing, enjoyed nothing and let the sweet poison of despair wrap him in a cocoon. It was a hollow existence, when a flash of familiar neon pink raced pass.

And then the cocoon cracked.

The night was particularly humid, the very air suffocatingly wet with heat. It made even the light grey tank he was wearing was sticking to him like a second skin. But the heat was more preferable than the cold - the wretched, bone cracking, burning cold that was made his skin feel like it was blackening and peeling back from his flesh. 

He had awoken in a cold sweat, memories as Remnant of Beasts Despair assaulting his mind and drowning him in frozen waters that felt unnatural. 

It was a tainted cold, one made by her and was not welcomed. So he sought refuge in Jabborwock’s heat. It seemed to be the only thing to chase the cold away.

“Gun?”

Well…not exactly the only thing. He amended, hearing the other’s reason approaching steps over the sounds of crashing waves.

A hand, - a welcoming warmth he gladly accepted - cupped his cheek and Gundham blinked opened his eyes and looked down to find Kazuichi looking up at him. Full pink lips were pulled into a frown and the taller man couldn’t help running a thumb across the lower lip.

“What are doing out here?” Kazuichi whispered. He pulled away only to use his other hand to gently hold Gundham’s.

The feeling of a calloused tracing the back of his hand ground him and brought Gundham more into the here and now.  The screams of the past lowered to whimpering whispers.

“Do not worry, Cara Mia. I had simply needed fresh air to calm my aura.”

By the way he scrunched up his face, Gundham could tell that Kazuichi didn’t completely believe him. They both knew why he would leave their cabin in the middle of the night. But, as usual, the shorter man let it go with a quiet hum and the hand on his cheek sliding to gently hold the nap of his neck.

“I thought we agreed that you’d wake me up for these walks? You don’t need to be alone after a nightmare.”

“You had been so busy with the girls,” He sighed, leaning down to press their foreheads together.  “I did not want to disturb your well earned slumber.”

The scoff the other gave was exasperated, but it fondness colored it in that way that made Gundham’s lips twitch to a small smile. He brought their joined hands up to cover it in a tender kiss.

“You know I’m basically an insomniac, right?”

“It still doesn’t mean you should lose more sleep due to my weakness.”

“What you went through isn’t a weakness so stop saying that!” Pink eyes narrowed before they softened and he breathed in their mingled breath. 

“You don’t have to be alone,” he repeated, bumping their noses together.

Emotions swelled and formed a lump in Gundham’s throat and made the corner of his eyes sting. Swallowing, he unclasped their hands so that he could cradled the others face and leaned down to kiss him. He made sure to pour all that he felt in it, feeling the shiver than ran through his love and the sigh that escaped when he pulled away.

“I am grateful to have you on my path.” He croaked and now those jewel colored eyes were shiny and wet with unshed tears. “You are the light that keeps my darkness at bay.”

“Fuck I forgot how sappy you get when you don’t get enough sleep,” Kazuichi sniffed, rubbing his eyes. “Come on, Hamster Boy. Let’s try to get a couple more hours before our girls wake up. They’re gonna want to visit Sonia and Chiaki first thing and knowing you, you’re gonna want to feed all the farm animals first.”

As Kazuichi led him away from the beach and towards their cabin, Gundham fleetingly wondered if his mother was watching and approved of how his life unfolded. He wondered if she saw him surrounded by love and acceptance, and found peace in the heavenly realms. 

He hoped that, when they all reunited, that their new realm would continue to bless them with the warmth and light to combat the loneliness that tried so hard to break him as a child.

Gundham thought all these things, looked as Kazuichi stepped through the threshold and go to check on their daughters and couldn’t help but wonder at the peace he’s somehow managed to carve in this wretched world.
