How could that be happening? Sam couldn’t believe that dark, horrible thought gripping him and keeping him frozen in place. That had to be wrong. Sam couldn’t believe that was so. He wouldn’t believe that the universe would will him to unravel at the cosmic seams. Desperate, Sam sat up. He tried to turn his body, find a way to stand up, but something was wrong, something wasn’t coming together. Did Sam have legs? A torso? Arms? “Sam?” called Rhodey, more confused and panicked, as if something was happening, something Sam wasn’t seeing from his vantage point, “Sam?” Sam tried to answer back but couldn’t. Couldn’t yell, couldn’t breathe, he couldn’t – ***** Sam gasped awake.

RANDOM PLOT IDEA

Plot: What if it was Steve and Natasha that went to Vormir to retrieve the Soul Stone? How would that have turned out? Would Steve had taken her place? Or would Natasha have been able to outwit him?

A/N: I'm not the biggest fan of Endgame due to a lot of the character developments and ending arcs to a lot of characters. Especially for Steve, it was the worst possible ending for his character ever, it ruined it for me pretty much.

If the price of the Soul Stone is a soul, then if Cap REALLY returned it at the end of Endgame, then they should have got Natasha back (there's a return warranty on every trustworthy infinity stone). This didn't happen, so the two possible explanations are:

Cap couldn't return the Soul Stone and just kept it as a souvenir, but couldn't do jackshit with it.

Cap returned the Soul Stone (punched Red Skull in the face, probably) and got Natasha back, but he didn't want to return to the present so she third-wheeled with Peggy and Steve for a while, then moved to Germany and had a kid named Jojo and worked secretly against Nazis.

A Soul for a Soul: Chapter 2- A Promise to be Okay

You knew it was wrong to spy on all the adults but you needed to know what their plan was to get everyone back. You had placed a bug and tracking device on your mama when you had hugged her earlier. If your mom ever found out you knew that you would be grounded for life.

Time Travel. Your mom and the avengers were planning on traveling through time to get some stones that were supposed to defeat that scary big purple guy. You paced back and forth as you continued to listen to the adults talk.

Although you had shared everything with your moms, you had made a recent discovery that you had powers. You were somehow able to become invisible including your clothes, you had also discovered that you had some form of power that made it possible for you to blast objects away from you. You were planning on telling your moms, but then the blip happened, and you didn’t want to stress out your mama Nat. She had enough to deal with.

“Y/n? I’m sorry about earlier. Can I come in?” Natasha knocked on the door as she heard you pacing in Wanda’s room. She knew that you were taking everything hard.

You removed your earbud from your ears and hid all your tech from out of sight. “You can come in.” You said as you did your best to look normal and not like you were just eavesdropping on your mom.

Natasha eyed you suspiciously as she walked in, “hey baby, we’ve come up with a plan to get everyone back. I don’t know when I’ll be back, but everything is going to be okay.” Nat knew that she shouldn’t make promises that she wasn’t sure she could keep.

You stood up and began to pace as you looked at your mom with disbelief, “you don’t know that! You don’t know if things are going to be okay.” You yelled as you tried to calm down. You couldn’t reveal to her that you knew what their crazy plan was.

“Y/n.” Natasha felt her walls begin to crumble. Wanda had always been better at calming you down or knowing the right things to say. “No, you’re right. I’m sorry. Detka, I don’t know if things are going to get better. But I have to try. I have to try for you, for Wanda and for everyone else.” She hated crying but she was scared shitless and she felt like she was already losing you.

You felt like shit for making your mom cry, “I’m sorry mama… I’m just scared. I know you probably are too. I just wish you could see that I’m not a child. I want to help. I can help.” You said as you walked over to your mom who was trying to wipe away her tears.

“No, y/n. You’re not just any child, you’re mine and mommy’s. You are worth fighting for. I made a promise to you and Wanda, and everyone in that courtroom that I was going to do everything it took to keep you safe. One day you will understand my love for you.” Natasha said as she pulled you into her arms and held you as you broke down.

You tried to fight in your mom’s arms. Everything felt like it was closing in on itself. You felt like you were saying a goodbye that was meant to last forever. Was your uncle Tony right? Was this really a suicide mission? Eventually your walls crumbled and you broke completely and sobbed uncontrollably.

“Y/n, I love you. Please stay here. Pepper and Morgan are going to come pick you up and you’re going to go and spend the night with them. When we get back we will be one step closer to getting mommy back. Please promise me that you will stay out of trouble.” Natasha said as she wiped your tears away as you started to calm down.

You bit your lip as you let out a defeated sigh, “I promise, just as long as you promise me that you come back all in one piece.”

Natasha took in a shaky breath, “baby, I can’t promise you that…”

“Mama, promise me that you will be okay. Promise me that you’ll come home.” You said stubbornly as you looked at your mom with pleading eyes.

Natasha nodded her head, “I promise that I’ll be okay. We will all be okay.” She would be okay as long as you were okay and safe. “I’ve gotta go. I love you.” She said as she hugged you tightly before grabbing her things and walking out of the room.

You punched the wall as your mom walked out of the room. “Stupid Thanos! Stupid Blip! Stupid. Stupid. Stupid everything!” You felt determined to keep your mom safe. There was no way that you were going to just sit around and do nothing. You had powers. You could help them.

Making up your mind you grabbed your stuffie and focused on turning invisible including your stuffie friend. Being invisible helped to sneak into the room where the platform was. Quietly you grabbed an extra time suit that you saw laying around and put it on. You were gonna be toast if your moms ever found out about this.

You stood quietly on the platform as you saw everyone join. You held your breath as you listened to your uncle Steve give his classic motivational speech.

“We lost friends. We lost family. We lost a part of ourselves. But today we have a chance to take it all back. You have your teams and you have assignments. Get your stone, and get back here. One round trip each. No mistakes. No do-overs.”

Steve says as he grips his shield tightly in his hand. “Most of us are going back to places we know. That doesn’t mean we know what to expect. Be careful. Look out for each other. Improvise, if you have to.” He says as he looks around at his team… his family. “This is the fight of our lives. And we’re going to win. Whatever it takes.”

Everyone stays quiet after such a moving speech. It takes everything inside of you not to clap and ruin your whole secret plan.

Smart Hulk taps in commands with HIS PENCIL. LIGHTS ILLUMINATE EACH PAD. “Tracking beacons engaged.” He says as he steps onto the platform as he joins his team.

Natasha also looks around at all the members in her team… in her family. She does her best not to get emotional, “See you in a minute.”

Smart Hulk talks scientifically as he starts counting on his fingers, “actually, it’ll be closer to seven or eight microseconds, give or-”

SUDDENLY, THEY STRETCH AND VANISH, SHRINKING AWAY. WHOOSH. THE QUANTUM CONSOLE STOPS VIBRATING. HULK’S PENCIL SLOWLY ROLLS TOWARD THE EDGE...AND DROPS OFF-

He lost Tony on Vormir.

He lost Tony on Vormir because the soul stone demanded life in exchange.

He lost Tony because ", if it comes to a fight, Steve- no, shush I'm talking, it always comes to a fight, you have to be the one to lead them. Lead them to one final victory. I promise you, you can rest after, okay?"

"What about Morgan? What about Pepper? What about the kid? What about-"

He had woken up alone, with a heartache that terrified him more than the ice. He had woken up and pulled the stone close to his chest and yelled and screamed and grieved. "What about me?"

Angry, so angry at time, at Tony, at the world and at the universe, he threw himself into the battle wearing the gauntlet Tony had used to trick him into staying alive, using the shield as a weapon of destruction. It felt good. It felt like finality when Steve used the nanites to swap the stones from right under the Titan's goading nose.

It felt like finality when he used the stones, when he heard their chorus, their power.

It felt like finality when his skin seared clean from his bones.

It felt like the end when he woke up young, freshly defrosted and saw Tony waiting for him, younger than he ever remembered him to be, watching an eternal sunset.

It felt like the end when they embraced.

It felt like the end—and then he opened his eyes to Natasha's face, solemn and a little too knowing.

It felt like the end right there when he tried to feel the missing limb, tried to see beyond the blurry input from his right eye, tried to bear the eternal memory of pain from the stones.

It felt like the end when he woke up in the middle of the night, Tony's name on his lips and tears streaming down his face.

It felt like the end when he realised—there is no end for him.

Not in this lifetime.

Steve looks at Y/n, who’s standing next to Bruce, helping him set the time machine up while Steve has a small thought in his head.

What if?

“Y/n.” Y/n looks over at him and hums softly with red eyes, still mourning the death of her best friend and the love of her life, Natasha.

“Yes, Stevie? What now? Stop being a child. Hurry up. We need to retur-“

“Y/n. Listen. I need to say this once. I think. No. I’m sure it will work. Please.” Y/n, Sam, Bucky and Bruce look at Steve in confusion.

“Make it quick.” Y/n were stunned when Steve walks down from the machine, heading to the briefcase next to her and seeing him opening the case, taking more of the suit device out, and shoving one into the palm of her hand, “Put that on. Now.” While holding the other one tightly in his hand. Y/n just put the device on since she’s just wearing a simple plain top and sleeping pants while looking at Steve again.

“What now?” Steve grabs Y/n’s hand in a second, putting the other device in Y/n’s hand and the other case filled with the stones and he hugs Bucky, talking.

“Gonna miss you, buddy.”

“It’s gonna be okay, Buck.” before he pulled Y/n onto the platform, Y/n is still confused.

“What the fuck Rogers? Can you talk?” Steve just shakes his head and lifts his thumbs to Bruce.

“We’re ready. Bring us back to the past.” Bruce looks at the both of them, and finally, Steve spits it out.

“I’m going to return the soul stone. In exchange, I want a soul to be returned.” And that’s when he looks at Y/n, kissing the top of her head, whispering into her, “I want you to take Natasha back to us. Please. Once. It’ll work. I swear.” Y/n’s eyes lit up but not in a good way. Steve nods and Bruce says,

“You ready Cap? Y/n? We’ll meet you back here, okay?” Steve nods,

“You bet.” Before the mask covers their face and Bruce starts counting.

“Going quantum, in 3,” Bruce starts to work on the machine, “2, 1.” Before both Y/n and Steve disappear from the portal.

“And returning in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1” But nothing shows up when Banner slightly went silent and confused while Y/n and Steve…

Y/n’s POV

“The next stone is the Soul Stone.” Steve looks at me and there are 5 stones left but he decides we’re going to the soul stone after the Time Stone.

“Are you sure you want to do it alone? I ca-“

“Y/n. I want you to live your life with Nat. I’m going back to-“

“Peggy. Right?” He nods and I smile. Even though it’s 1945, we can try, right?

“Let’s go.” He grabs my hand, and we walk through the cliffs of Vormir, and when we reach the top, Steve takes the Soul Stone out, and that’s when the Red Skull appears.

“The stone.” The voice echoes deeply in the air and Steve lets the stone fly to the air, swooshing around the windy snow of the mountain before disappearing into thin air. Then another voice echoes in the air.

"As promised, a soul for a soul." Before the figure disappears and something apparates in the air right after that, having me fall to my knees, tears starts falling off my eyes.

My Natasha. In her injured form

Her body looks just like how Clint told me how she looked when she falls off the cliff. Head flooded in her own bloody, scratches everywhere She pushed herself. He didn’t sacrifice her. He didn’t. He won’t.

Natasha is lying down in front of me and Steve, when my eyes trail to her chest, seeing her chest heaving slowly and she slowly starts waking up. My hands make their way to her face, pulling her onto my plumped lap, and rubbing her cheeks gently.

“дорогой, проснись, моя дорогая. (Sweetheart, wake up my dear.)” And a second after that she coughs and takes deep breaths, before my arms start tightening around her, hugging her close to me.

“Oh! Thank goodness. наталья. (Natalia)” And Natasha looks at me in shock.

“Это ты?! Я-я не умер?! Ждать! Ты мертвец- (It's you?! I-I didn't die?! Wait! You are dead-) “ I hush her down, and I hug her tight before seeing Steve handing the stone and I put the device on her wrist,

“Я объясню все позже, но нам нужно идти сейчас. (I'll explain everything later, but we need to go now.)” I immediately click on the device on both her and mine, glancing at Steve.

“Go. You deserve your happiness, Y/n.” He kneels, hugging me tightly.

“Thank you, Stevie.” Before everything turns dark and the next thing I know,

I’m back and I’m not alone. Natasha’s still in my arms, holding me tight.

Thank you so much for making that acheivment guide! I never would have found out about Strassa new, adorable ability otherwise. I have a question about that, though, if you're not busy (understand if you are!!!) Stones seem to have their real names, their stone names, and then their titles(i.e the hysteria stone). Titles seem to correspond to their ability. If Tiger's eye's power is adorablness, what is their title? Can I ask the same for Dae's and Ellys stone title since we've seen the power?

Yup, you are absolutely right! They have their real names, their stone names and a title that denotes their abilities!
