Ferryman of the Silverlake / The Mountain King
Not much is known about this god-like being, not even its true name. It appears to be some sort of king, prince, mountain spirit or maybe a long forgotten god.
Appearance
He takes the form of a young man or child, yet his mature behaviour and serious facial expression create the impression that he has lived through numerous human lifetimes. One of the most remarkable visual characteristics is his hair, which shimmers in a shade of green, a colour which is entirely unnatural for both humans and animals. Complementing this extraordinary hair color, he wears a tiara crafted from silver adorned with an array of gemstones. He also wears a mantle decorated with emeralds and a belt made from corals. In his hands, he wields a luminous staff, scepter, or spear crafted from a single, large gemstone.
He is accompanied by a small boat with its keel made out of the red hues from a sunrise and its sails are blue like the heavens themselves. The boat features a golden mast and golden oars. Inside, the boat is lined with silver moss.
Behaviour
When the Mountain King makes his presence known, it begins with a violet light that gradually intensifies and transforms into a calming blue, eventually filling his entire cave or realm.
He travels by boat across an immense underground silver lake, where the most beautiful rainbow stretches from one side of the lake to the other. Additionally, small blue flames hover above the lake and a captivating and melodious tune can be heard. The gigantic cave is full of precious stones and its roof is like a starlit night sky.
It appears that the Mountain King is cautious of humans and endeavors to discern the genuine intentions of those who find themselves in his domain. However, he also seems eager to ensure that any worthy humans who enter his realm depart with a precious gift from him.
Environment
The cave in which the ferryman appears is difficult to reach. Inside the cave is a gigantic lake behind which an enormous gap appears. Behind the gap is a treasure hidden, which is guarded by two goats.
Origin
This figure originates from a tale in Styria, situated near the city of Weiz, but not much is known about its mythological background. In folklore, this being is regarded as a mountain spirit. However, it stands out as such spirits are typically depicted as gnome or dwarf-like creatures that either aid or disrupt miners.
The description of the Mountain King incorporates several motifs. The presence of the rainbow is reminiscent of Irish Mythology, where it signifies a treasure concealed at its end. In Norse and Greek Mythologie, rainbows symbolize a connection between Earth and the Realm of the Gods.
The concept of a silver lake or a vast underground lake is a recurring theme in Alpine tales, as seen in the Ladin Fanes Saga. In these stories, such lakes often hold magical items like arrows that never miss, or they feature mythical beings guiding humans to a treasure hidden beyond the lake. In some tales, the lake and the cave vanish once the human departs, adding an element of enchantment and mystery to these narratives.
The association of water with the dead in Alpine tales, along with a possible interpretation of the hovering flames as souls, adds depth to the symbolism surrounding the Mountain King. In this context, he can be seen as a figure similar to Charon from Greek Mythology, who serves as a ferryman transporting souls to the realm of the dead.
Due to a lack of sources, the truth about this being will remain a mystery, leaving its nature and origins open to interpretation and imagination.

Days 14-18: Rocky Mountain National Park, CO
Tumblr media
There are no words or even photos that can do justice to Rocky Mountain National Park. But, I'll try my best. For you.
Friday, September 16 - Arriving at RMNP and Timber Creek Camp
Given campground availability and my plans to spend time in Boulder after my visit to RMNP, I decided to start on the west side of the park and make my way eastward over the course of my time in the park.
I spent most of Friday driving to the park (about 2 hours), visiting the Kawuneeche Visitor Center (another hour or so - it was raining so I wanted to see if it would dry up a bit, get my collectible sticker, patch, and passport stamps, and gather some hiking tips from the rangers!). I then wrapped up the day settling in for my first night at Timber Creek Campground.
The rain let up for long enough to get a fire going, enjoy the stars, and go to sleep. It then proceeded to pour most of the night! My tent held up great - I was totally dry and warm inside.

Saturday, September 17 - Hiking Little Yellowstone & Lulu City
Hit the trail after my favorite breakfast of yogurt, blueberries and granola (the Yeti 45 Cooler is truly amazing and worked as an effective refrigerator for 5+ days)!
On the agenda: Little Yellowstone and Lulu City. This ~7-8mi hike took me along the source of the Colorado River with a combination of rich emerald colored forests and lush golden meadows under a crystal blue sky painted with cotton ball white clouds - the color contrasts were eye popping and made for great photo ops. I also visited the site of a small 200-person settlement from the 1800s, (Lulu city). And along the way, I even made some animal friends, a deer, a moose, and a lil marmot!
I'll let the photos to the rest of the talking:

Sunday, September 18 - Trail Ridge Road & Alpine Tundra
I woke up at dawn to pack up and drive east on Trail Ridge Road across the Continental Divide my next home base at Moraine Park Campground!
Tumblr media
The elevations on Trail Ridge Road get so high that you are in what is called the Alpine Tundra, a landscape with such harsh conditions that trees cannot live there.
On a stop at the Alpine Visitor Center (the highest National Park Service facility!) I learned all about the ecosystem and animals of the Alpine Tundra including Elk, Big Horn Sheep, Marmot, Pika (in danger danger due to climate change and their conditioning to very cold climate), Coyote, Weasels, Ptarmigan and many plants!
I hiked the Rock Communities Trail to try to spot some Pika, and unfortunately I didn't see any but I did get to see some pretty cool mushroom rocks and stunning views!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The drive down towards Estes Park was equally stunning with views of the forested lower peaks and absinthe-green valleys
Tumblr media
Finally I made it to my campsite! It was my favorite campsite of the trip so far, spacious and set back from the road in a glen with perfect trees to set up my hammock.
Tumblr media
Monday, September 19 - Four (Five, Six) Lakes Hike
I got up at dawn again to start my hiking day early - I was determined to hike most of the Bear Lake area of RMNP via the Four Lake Loop (but I added in a few extra lakes!)
I watched the sunrise over bear lake, and then found a perfect spot to make breakfast and coffee on my way to Dream and Emerald lakes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The colors of the various glacial lakes on this hike were beautiful variations of turquoise and teal. Dream Lake (pictured above) was more of a greenish color similar to Emerald Lake just a bit more of a climb past it. I got to see a beautiful small waterfall on my way up to Emerald.
Tumblr media
My favorite lake by far on this hike was Lake Haiyaha, which was a light mint turquoise color due to a recent rockslide releasing many glacial minerals into the lake!
Tumblr media
On the way down from Lake Haiyaha towards the Loch I made some new friends, Suzy, Beth and Wyatt from Georgia! We hiked most of the afternoon together trading adventure stories. Because I was with them I continued on towards Sky Pond where they were headed (a bit further of a hike than I had planned for myself) and got to see some incredible vistas from a higher elevation!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally the sun was making its way down in the sky so I decided to head back down towards camp. The cottonwoods were changing color in this more arid part of the landscape, and the yellow contrast against the dark green and bright blue sky (seriously the most blue sky I've ever seen) was absolutely gorgeous.
Tumblr media
On the drive back to my campsite, I saw a lot of people gathered by a meadow, and realized that there must be elk to view there! I was too tired to check it out, but decided I'd do so in the morning. Exhausted, I collapsed in my tent after making a quick dinner and was asleep by 9pm!
Tumblr media
Tuesday, September 20 - The Elk Rut, Sprague Lake & Heading to Boulder
Again I got up at dawn, this time to go visit some Elk friends! I didn't know prior to my visit, but I got so lucky that the Elk Rut was just beginning upon my arrival in RMNP.
What is the Elk Rut? It's an incredible annual mating ritual for elk where males (bulls) compete to build harems of females (cows) by sparring and making haunting bugling sounds!
A large herd had settled into the meadow just by my campground, so I was able to walk over as the sunrise was turning the mountains into a bright pink backdrop. There were dozens of professional and amateur nature photographers out already.
I even got to witness some sparring! I tried to upload the video here but for some reason it wasn't working.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After I watched the Elk for an hour or so, I headed back to pack up my camp. I stopped by Sprague Lake to make lunch and got to see some trout swimming up stream (Natalie, if you're reading this I thought of you the whole time!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately it was then finally time for me to head out of the park. I made one more visitor center stop at Fall River on my way out. And I even got to say hello to another herd of elk just hanging outside a Safeway Supermarket in the town of Estes!
Tumblr media
My day ended with an arrival that evening in Boulder to visit with my good friend Sarah Jane and her adorable son Hendrix for a couple of days.
I'll share more in a post next week about my stay in Boulder, and my journey to Wyoming to explore Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks!

Isotopica - The Luminescent Planet
An Overview of Isotopica
As we breach the borders of familiar galaxies, our celestial vessel, a harmonious fusion of advanced technology and astrophysical intuition, lands us on a unique planet that glows with an eerie, emerald luminescence. The intoxicating green radiance of Isotopica is the first sensory delight to greet interstellar explorers. On closer examination, this planet opens up a world teeming with strange, yet fascinating nuances that stem from its abundant radioactivity.
Tumblr media
The Land
Isotopica is not a product of chance but a testament to the unpredictable, creative forces of the cosmos. Its surface is a mosaic of metallic minerals, intermingled with crystalline formations that radiate a spectrum of green hues. The planet's unique physical properties are a result of its historical encounter with a dying star, which bombarded it with a cornucopia of radioactive elements.
The climate of Isotopica is mostly stable due to the internal heating provided by radioactive decay, resulting in a warm yet habitable world. Its geography is diverse, with flat radioactive plains, towering crystalline mountains, and luminescent bodies of water teeming with unique, energy-harnessing life forms.
This vibrant landscape supports a population of around two billion inhabitants, who dwell in cities built with radiation-hardened materials that glow soothingly at night. Rural communities exist as well, living in harmony with the land and exploiting its natural resources for their sustenance and energy needs.
Society & Culture
Isotopicans have a complex, intriguing society, one that revolves around the radioactive core of their existence. Their language, Lumenese, is a beautiful, symbolic form of communication that uses light patterns. Illuminated gestures, synchronized with verbal expressions, add a mesmerizing dimension to their interactions.
Their art and entertainment reflect the radiation-rich environment of their home. Light dances, phosphorescent sculpture, and radioactive sports are popular activities. Holographic storytelling, often recounting historical events and heroic exploits, is an integral part of their cultural experience.
Education is highly valued, focusing on understanding and manipulating radiation, developing hardy technologies, and maintaining an ethical balance with their surroundings. Their diet primarily consists of bioluminescent flora and fauna, cooked using controlled radioactive heat. A traditional Isotopian greeting involves a mutual exchange of light pulses from their bio-luminescent appendages, symbolizing trust and goodwill.
Magic & Science
The line between magic and science blurs on Isotopica. The inhabitants have evolved to harness the omnipresent radiation, utilizing it for energy, illumination, and even communication. This unique biological ability is often perceived as 'magic' by outsiders, but for Isotopicans, it's an intrinsic part of their existence.
Their scientific prowess shines in their architecture and technology, created to thrive in an environment hostile to most other forms of life. Transportation relies heavily on light-powered vehicles, and communication networks are based on complex arrays of modulated light signals.
Their medical practices are sophisticated, effectively using controlled doses of radiation to treat various ailments, enhance physiological functions, and even modify the genetic structures of their species.
Economy and Government
Isotopica operates on an energy-based economy. The most valuable commodity is refined radioactive isotopes, used as an energy source for various applications. Urban areas are major economic hubs where radiation technology is manufactured and traded.
Their government, called the Radiant Council, consists of elected individuals from various sectors - science, education, art, medicine, and more. Crime is relatively low, with most disputes resolved through peaceful negotiations under the guidance of the Council. Isotopica has remained neutral in interstellar conflicts, often offering mediating roles due to their unique position of being a planet enriched by a resource many fear.
Isotopica's legal system is built on the principle of mutual respect for all life forms and their environment. The most severe punishment involves exile to areas with low radiation, which naturally deters misconduct due to their dependency on radiation.
Foreign relations are marked by a policy of cooperation and peaceful exchange. Diplomatic missions from Isotopica are always a sight to behold, with their emerald ships emitting a soft, green glow symbolizing peace and harmony.
Isotopica is a unique gem in the vast cosmic expanse - a harmonious synthesis of science, society, and a touch of magic. The luminescent planet's tale reminds us of the endless possibilities harbored in the universe, and the marvels that can spring from seemingly hostile conditions. Its song of light and radiation whispers a powerful lesson of adaptation, resilience, and the radiant beauty of existence.

What is Gemstone?
A gemstone is a mineral, rock, or petrified substance that has been cut and polished for use in jewellery or other decorative items. It is also referred to as a precious stone or semi-precious stone. Gemstones are prized for their aesthetic appeal, rarity, durability, metaphysical qualities, and historical significance.
Diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, amethysts, topazes, and pearls are a few examples of gemstones. The value and applications of many gemstones are influenced by their distinctive characteristics, which include colour, transparency, hardness, and refractive index.

Basra Pearl
• Origin of Basra Pearl• History of the stone • Chemical and Physical Properties• 4 C's - Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat Weight • Spiritual Meaning • Benefits of wearing • Who Should Wear • Price
If you are fond of beautiful and rare pearls or use them in ornamentation, you probably have heard of Basra Pearl. This one of the rarest kinds of pearls is known for its beauty and price. In this guide, you will get an insight into this beautiful rare pearl.
According to some historical sources, these natural gemstones are said to be originated in the Persian Gulf in the Middle East. The name of these pearls is taken from its largest traders. Earlier in the ancient days, it was primarily traded in an Iraqi city situated on the banks of the Shatt al-Arab River. This city is known as Al Basrah or Basra. Hence on the name of the city Basra, it was named Basra Pearl.
It is obtained from the Gulf Pearl Oyster and Black clip Pearl Oyster. Both these oysters. These gems are made up of calcium carbonate discharged by shellfish after it faces an aggravation.
But after the depletion of the marine ecosystem in the Persian Gulf, the production of the natural Basra was halted, which makes these pearls rare.
These pearls are harvested from coastal countries of the Persian Gulf like Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, etc.
The beauty of Basra pearl has been used for a long time now, around from 300BC. The Basra Pearl holds a great significance in Indian history. The Nizams of Hyderabad were very fond of this stone and made a significant part of this pearl in their collection. One of the most appealing Basra pearls creations is a seven-stringed necklace named Salada. This beautiful work of art incorporated 465 pearls and diamonds, rubies, and emeralds.
Pearls are generally made up of Calcium Carbonate and sometimes have aragonite or aragonite and calcite mixture, but these minerals are not regarded as proper minerals.
These pearls are glossy and lustrous in appearance. The Basra pearl's beauty and purity are even compared to the moon.
The Basra pearls mostly have a Cabochon cut, giving the pearl a polished surface and enhancing its beauty. These beautiful Basra pearls are generally Opaque and come in white color, but they can come in various shades like gold, silver, cream, yellow, brown, pink, or peach. The natural Basra pearl has a minimum weight of 1.04 carats and can go up to 20 carats.
The Basra pearl is very effective in light dispersing effects. This gemstone is also connected with the zodiac sign Cancer. Earlier in the ancient days, the Basra pearl was associated with good fortune.
Because of the purity and color of the Basra Pearl, it is astrologically compared with the moon and was believed to have a strong positive effect on the mind. It also helps to calm down the emotions.
As the Basra Pearl is related to the zodiac sign Cancer, it should be worn by them. But apart from the Cancer sign, it can be fruitful for the persons with Aries, Scorpio, and Pisces zodiac signs.
The price for Basra Pearl can range from 15,000 rs/- per carat to 1,00,000 rs/- per carat. The cost varies depending on the pearl's size, color, and shape.

A recorder carved from brilliant white ash.
A short necked, round bottom flask that could hold about a half-gallon of liquid. Clearly visible through the glass sides, though, is a city. A damp beaver skin bagpipe.

A high, conical mask, intricately decorated with dried corn kernels of different colours.
A war banner depicting a bone-white skeleton on a field of midnight blue.
A maple linen chest with false bottom holding a number of lewd porcelain figures.
An innocuous-looking, fist-sized piece of faceted glass. When placed upon a flat surface the object floats about three feet into the air, glowing and chiming softly.
A fist-sized orb that resembles the eye of a dragon and dangles from a heavy gold chain.
A simple quartz crystal with a series of emerald green and brown straws extending from within its central structure. Knowledgeable PC's can identify the mineral as tourmaline in quartz.
A colourful ball formed from silk ribbons that randomly unfurls in a multi-hued explosion of noise and whipping fabric, before suddenly reforming.
A small cut glass bottle has a hinged silver top emblazoned with a caduceus.
A bronze rattle with a set of small openings that allow you to see the glowing purple stone within it.
A lacquered wood-carved mouth instrument resembles a duck-hunter’s call, except for the red band along the mouthpiece and the hooked dragon’s claw wood-burned into its side. Blowing into the object causes it to sound like a drake's mating call, barely resistible to any draconic creature within earshot.
An empty djinn lamp. There is a note attached on which are written the words: “It's out. It is coming for you.”
A pair of small ceramic vials stoppered with corks. The sigil of the local constabulary has been stamped into the sides.
A handful of small, silver and copper coins pressed with unfamiliar faces and strange lettering.
An empty, crumpled leather belt pouch with a large hole opened along the bottom seam and a snarling beast embossed on the side.
A set of thieves’ tools that includes a small file, a set of lock picks, a small mirror mounted on a metal handle, a set of narrow-bladed scissors, and a pair of pliers.
An egg-sized smooth white stone poorly carved on one side to resemble a grinning skull. The tiny eye sockets appear far deeper than should be possible on an item this size.
A dozen brass keys in various sizes linked on a polished steel ring. One of the keys appears far too intricate for any mechanical lock you have ever encountered.
A polished dark wood box inlaid with silver tracery and lined with velvet, suitable for displaying a single piece of jewellery.
A small metal cube with dark glass on two opposing faces. Holding the box up to a light source causes it to project a colourful image of two men in orange robes, arguing over what appears to be a carefully flayed human skin.
A garish tabard made from simple red cloth, with gold-coloured trim that has frayed badly. The effect of the wear is such that the tabard’s edge appears to be fluffy; the strands of cheap gold fabric float like tentacles in the slightest breeze. The front of the tabard is dominated by a somewhat-successfully stitched image depicting a drop of blood. The back is adorned with a single letter “I” and has undergone the same transformation as the gold trim. Donning the tabard causes several wayward strands to drift upward into the bearer's face.
A doss lute carved from alder wood in a graceful, pear-shaped form. Abstract designs were inlaid in the wood in copper.
A mask of smoked glass cut into a half shell that obscures the bearer's features.
A golden, translucent bracelet made of a lightweight, silky material that resembles warm amber. In fact, small creatures can be seen trapped within. If watched closely, they seem to move.
A disguise kit consisting of cosmetics, hair dye and small props that allow the bearer to create disguise and change their physical appearance.
A coinpurse crafted from shimmering bronze-hued fabric that features humanoid teeth as part of its clasping mechanism. The incisors seem particularly pronounced.
A rough, milky white gem with a red crystal grown directly through one side and tinged with yellow discolorations. Knowledgeable PC's can identify the mineral as realgar.
A curious jade rod tipped with a glowing knob of crimson that shimmers with eldritch phosphorescence like a live thing.
A tiny finch made of overlapping metal plates. A gentle tug on its tail causes it to unfold into the shape of a small flower. Touching the centre of the flower causes it to reconfigure into the shape of a small lizard.
A tightly rolled vellum scroll, apparently blank on both sides, but with a deep blue shimmer as it catches the light.
A simple clay pin in the shape of a human face. Its eyes dart about and its mouth moves as though attempting to speak.
A small brown leather bag contains a double handful of black shale shards that ring like coins as it moves about.
A slate-grey box covered in tiny blinking lights. Along one edge is a panel which folds down to reveal a seemingly random assortment of letters and numbers on individual buttons opposite smooth black glass.
A padded trunk that contains a device to extend and display several small drawers when the trunk is opened. Beneath the display drawers are several additional removable padded drawers, all of which contain neatly sorted tiny decorative beads and wires.
A simple silver mirror that shows a perfect reflection delayed by several seconds.
A soft fur stole lined with black satin. Something solid has been sewn within the lining at one end.
A filthy, mummified monkey’s paw, curled into a fist and clutching what looks like an egg.
A tiny, polished wooden coffin. The lid is sealed with wax and the sound of tumbling glass shards can be heard as the box is moved.
A pair of excruciatingly detailed false glass eyes, in grey and green. While held or placed on a solid surface, they gradually turn to face each other.
Some garish crushed velvet pantaloons, monogrammed with the initials ‘AJW.’ So obviously out of fashion that they can only be antique.
An old, thick coin, dented but cleanly cast with bas reliefs. Some runes on the obverse; and on the reverse: the cruel-eyed face of a woman with spiral horns. The con has a scent of mildew and copper that rubs off when handled.
A small glass cube filled with a faintly luminescent blue fluid, with a small latch on one side securing the top. Something about the liquid suggests a degree of consciousness to its movements.
A leather drawstring pouch filled with a dozen perfectly spherical polished stones. The stones stick together as though magnetic, but come apart again with almost no effort.
A hard black leather case containing a flawless set of well-used professional kitchen knives, one nearly as long as your arm.
A coloured glass hemisphere made to resemble a distant galaxy seen on a clear dark night.
An odd red badge in the shape of a hunting bird’s head. The maker’s mark on the reverse appears strikingly similar to the local duke’s seal.
A folding leather wallet filled with strangely coloured bits of paper. Tucked within, you also find a small pewter badge showing the symbol of a great wyrm atop a castle wall, with the initials ‘GG’ on its reverse.
A shattered magenta stone with two dark green edges and that vaguely resembles sliced fruit. Knowledgeable PC's can identify the mineral as watermelon tourmaline.
A miniature castle constructed from a series of slick, modular blocks. Tiny, smiling figures man the parapets.
A well-polished brass oil lamp covered with intricate characters and a strange landscape in relief.
A brass and steel orrery, animated by clockwork and magic in real time. The spheres are nearly perfectly aligned.
A military chest with silver handles, three drawers, and iron-edged pigeon holes. The chest is covered in crossbow bolt holes.
A bronze candelabrum depicting angels being chased by stirges.
A crystal-beaded gossamer headpiece that sparkles with the slightest movement. The pattern of beads is that of an icon for a long-dead religion.
A clay pot with four faces; one a jackal, one a crocodile, the third a vulture, and the fourth a grinning hawk swallowing a human eye.
A large pot scarab filled with mummified human fingers.
A flat brass clockwork dial so richly studded with circles and hands and curious symbols that it looked like a cross scowly face.
A painted limestone incense burner set with a garnet.
A black basalt statuette of a lion wearing a gold crown and crushing slaves beneath its paws.
A leather wallet stamped with the design of a market stall, containing a full set of certified identification papers denoting that the bearer is a member of the merchants guild. The section containing the member's physical description (Height, weight, sex, race, eye, skin and hair colour) is completely blank and could be filled in by anyone with half decent handwriting.
A pouch filled with a dozen silver coins of great age, depicting forgotten gods and god-kings engaged in carnal acts.
A terracotta lamp with silver filigree work depicting lions killing escaping slaves.
A suspiciously clean wallet made from sewn mice and rats.
A scroll case made of sewn snakeskin and metal plates.
A fancy snuff box made from carved whale bone.
A set of flint and steel in an old calfskin wrap with the tail still attached held in a wool holdall.
A walnut, iron, and onyx pipe with a clay bowl depicting a swan.
A set of dice carved from white dragon bone. They will chill small quantities of liquid if placed inside a vessel of any kind. If rolled the dice will cover a small surface in a thin layer of ice.
An ornate linen headband with brass decorations.
A strange looking stone made of a material that looks like basalt, only with small insets of strange red, almost gleaming, material. It is slightly warm to the touch, and if one examines it very carefully or is very tactile to the touch, it seems to be almost pulsating.

Contaminated with the Blight. Known to thin the Veil, and forces anyone who dare wield it go mad. There’s a lot we’ve got to talk about regarding this most blighted material, however, in order for us to foreshadow what involvement red Lyrium may have in the future, we’ve got to excavate its original source – raw lyrium.
Lyrium
Regular, non-tainted Lyrium is a mineral constantly mined for its properties, it has many purposes in Thedas today. The dwarves have built a trade empire mining and selling the material across the entire continent because of its usage. This trade is the main reason why Tevinter and the dwarven kingdoms have such a close relationship.
Lyrium is essentially a mana booster, able to strengthen one’s magical power beyond what anyone might naturally muster. When mixed into liquid and ingested, Lyrium allows mages to enter the Fade consciously.  No wonder the mages of the Imperium have such a secure trade of the substance.
While mages combine Lyrium with spells and rituals. Templars ingest the substance to enhance their abilities at resisting and dispelling magic, while the dwarves and non-magic wielders use Lyrium to create magical runes and enchant items.
Even the Qunari were intrigued by its usage and began experimenting with the properties of Lyrium to bulk up their own mages called “Saarebas.”
In the current Dragon Age, Lyrium has become a beneficial and essential mineral for the majority of Thedas.
As Lyrium exists in both the physical world and The Fade, the Chantry believes Lyrium to be the “emerald waters of the Fade, the very substance of creation itself.” While others call Lyrium a conductor that "bridges the gap between the dreamer’s world and the waking world” (WoT V1).
Whatever the truth is... There’s a lot beyond the surface regarding this powerful substance that the common Thedosian may never know.
The dwarves call “Lyrium” - “Isana” which translates to “singing stone” (WoT V1).
This is because Lyrium is; in fact, a living substance, it’s said to be the very blood of the world-shaping Titans.
According to; their children, the dwarves, the legendary, ancient beings sculpted the world. Their earthquakes are apparently their method of reshaping Thedas to their accord.
It's impossible to describe in words how truly vast a Titan is. The one I met is so large you can only glimpse parts of it. I had wandered inside its body for who knows how long without even realizing it. I've heard tales of dragons and giants on the surface, but descriptions of their size do not compare to the Titan's.
Its blood now flows through me, and its song fills the gaps in our history. I close my eyes and see glimpses of the world that was, before everything changed and the dwarven race broke in two. Something caused the Titans to fall, and the fate of my people fell with them. The Titan wants me to know. No, more than that. It wants me to understand. There is a loneliness to its song.
Codex entry: Titans: Shaper Valta's personal journal.
Whether the Titans, or “Pillars of the Earth” created Thedas, and have since been dwelling since the beginning of creation itself is still a rather ambiguous mystery. However, based on codex entries, we can confirm that the Titans existed before the Veil was created.
In actuality, before the Veil’s creation, the Kingdom of the Elvhen hunted and declared war against the Titans, stating their death will be a mercy and will make the earth blossom with their passing.
"In this place we prepare to hunt the pillars of the earth. Their workers scurry, witless, soulless. This death will be a mercy. We will make the earth blossom with their passing."
Mythal, All-mother of the Elven Pantheon struck down a Titan, as the people praised her name.
"Hail Mythal, adjudicator and savior! She has struck down the pillars of the earth and rendered their demesne unto the People! Praise her name forever!"
With the defeat of a Titan, the Ancient Elves discovered Lyrium from its body. The elves continued to fight with the Titans, mining their bodies for raw Lyrium and "something else" which has been made unclear.
"The runes say the Evanuris fought the Titans. They mined their bodies for lyrium and... something else. It's not clear."
While I’m trying not to theorise and speculate, Cole once said: "They made bodies from the earth. And the earth was afraid. It fought back. But they made it forget."
Perhaps the Ancient Elvhen made Lyrium bodies from the Titan’s blood. Crafting strong, resilient vessels for the Evanuris and their people to inhabit. Continuing their savage hunt against the Titans.
Thus, explaining the fall and disconnect of the Titans from their children, the dwarves. Justifying why the dwarven kingdom have grown disattached to their creators throughout the ages, and only now have begun to re-establish that connection once more.
In any regard, the Titans were not completely silenced. They slumbered for years, and somewhere down the line, Red Lyrium came into existence. Perhaps caused by the Evanuris war, or perhaps self-inflicted by the Titans themselves, we don’t know. Red Lyrium’s origin is still a huge enigma... However, we do know that the spread of Red Lyrium has merely just begun.
The red corrupted substance is a perverted form of raw Lyrium. Just like its predecessor, Red Lyrium is alive, it has a lifespring, and it grows and multiplies across Thedas. It too ties power between the waking world and the Fade.
To answer your question, my lord: yes, I have indeed heard of this "red lyrium" of which you speak. A single piece of it surfaced in the eastern city of Kirkwall, and its influence alone was nearly enough to cause the city's destruction. As near as we can determine, it is regular lyrium that has been somehow corrupted. Those who have touched red lyrium—or even come near it—report that it "sings" to them, like whispers in the mind that slowly drive them mad.
—From a partially burned letter by an unknown writer, affixed with the Grey Warden seal.
As discovered by Bianca Davri, Red Lyrium carries the blight, explaining its twisted form.
Unlike regular lyrium which requires you to digest it in order for it to impact you. Red Lyrium corrupts everything it touches, being in close proximity to it will greatly affect you.
Far more disturbing is the fact that lyrium could be corrupted at all. Treat any red lyrium you encounter as if it were poison. Do not go near it, do not attempt to destroy it... and most importantly, do not attempt to use it.
—From a partially burned letter by an unknown writer, affixed with the Grey Warden seal.
The substance is most unique, it can thin the Veil, allowing spirits and demons to interact with the real world. Prolonged exposure will change not only your mental outlook but your physical appearance too.
It tends to leave people or animals in a mad-like state. They become paranoid, and see no reasoning for morality, as Bartrand sabotages his own brother Varric. Red Lyrium tends to consume the mind and take over. Much like the reasoning for the Red Templars in Inquisition, Red Lyrium is very deadly, and grows off of anything living.
We do not know, however, what might stem from extended contact with red lyrium. Madness, surely, but would there be a physical corruption as well? What would happen if a mage or a templar used red lyrium as they use regular lyrium?
—From a partially burned letter by an unknown writer, affixed with the Grey Warden seal.
Speaking more specifically on Red Lyrium’s growth - its corruption throughout the land has merely begun - and attempting to remove the mineral is likely a fruitless effort, as it will have already introduced itself into the food chain, which begets more corruption: as Red Lyrium effects all it touches, insects digest blighted soil, animals then digest the blighted insects, this will have a knock-on effect, more animals, plants and trees will become tainted by merely following their survival instincts until eventually the people of Thedas are infected by their own harvest.
While a lot of the growth of Red Lyrium has been greatly caused by the hands of many Thedosian’s, a great deal of its development into the eco system is simply inevitable. It's merely a matter of days until a Ferelden Farmer has spoiled crops, an Orlesian Noble eats an infected nug, and a predator hunting its prey soon becomes blighted.
And that’s not all that lingers for the future, Red Lyrium has plenty of involvement in many scenarios that awaits Thedas.
The Titan’s connection
When Valta connected with a Titan, she felt pure, wasn’t afraid anymore, and could somehow survive without needing food or water, as if the Titan’s essence was her sole sustenance. The Titan connected with one of their children stopped the tremors throughout the land.
Valta established a longing connection with the dwarves supposed creators, as adult and child rekindled once more, Valta’s consciousness intertwined with the knowledge of the Titans. Vital information that would shake up the entirety of the dwarven kingdom’s foundation.
With Valta’s connection, surely the Titan’s seek to find the rest of their children, becoming one once more.
Red Lyrium Idol
The Red Lyrium Idol is still a mystery. This McGuffin was brought back in Tevinter Nights, instead of being destroyed when Meredith created her sword Certainty, it stayed within her statue-like corpse, preserved for a fair while.
it’s been described as: “a couple hugging, too thin to be dwarves”, or “a god mourning their sacrifice.” However, disregarding what it supposedly looks like, this idol belongs to Solas. It’s his, and he wants it back, he has a purpose for it.
Its current whereabouts have been set up for interpretation, we can assume the Idol is either with a noble’s son heading to war torn Tevinter, or Solas has indeed collected his long-lost possession after some time. Again, we can only assume at this point where it may be, and why Solas requires it.
Red Lyrium Sarcophagus
In Dragon Age: Blue Wraith, the most recently released comic book roster, the comic cast uncover a Lyrium Sarcophagus, originally utilised for Fenris’s transformation into a “Blue Wraith”. The device infuses the occupant with Lyrium markings that grant the host with immense power like the ability to go through walls, and tear an enemy's heart out of their chest.
Towards the end of Blue Wraith, we understand that the Venatori have this device and intend on willingly putting one of Fenris’s trusted friends through the device using Red Lyrium to make him a most formidable, unstoppable warrior.
If successful, perhaps this practice may become common in Tevinter for the remaining Venatori and their elven slaves.
New clusters of Lyrium
Discovered briefly in Tevinter Nights, The Horror Of Hormak, other colours and variations of Lyrium seemingly exist. A massive Lyrium crystal glowing yellow and green hung suspended deep within a lost dwarven thaig.
Above it, a massive lyrium crystal hung suspended. It glowed with a sickly light, tinged with yellow and green. Streamers of energy flowed from it into the pool, sending it bubbling wherever it touched. (Horror Of Hormak, pg. 100).
With more variations of Lyrium deep underground, perhaps we’ll begin to see different properties of this mineral, who knows, perhaps this could lead to other Titans waking up across Thedas.
Origin Of The Blight
And of course, we need to comprehend how the blight began. I attempting at looking at this plot thread, without going to deep into theory, but I do believe it has something to do with the Titan’s war between the Evanuris, because suddenly Red Lyrium pops into the picture and the Elven Pantheon are becoming mad with armour of the Void, turning against each other.
Perhaps a Blighted Titan is the original source of the blight, as it reaches out for revenge against the Evanuris, attempting to establish a connection with their children once more, destroying everything else in its path...
So many mysteries, and so much to go on for the future of Dragon Age!  That is it for my first entry in this Road To Dragon Age 4 series, let me know what you thought of it, and tell me your potential theories for the future Dragon Age narrative.

                  Emerald
Tumblr media
Emerald, known for its ravishing green hue, is a variety of the mineral beryl. It contains trace amounts of chromium and sometimes vanadium, which give this gemstone its vibrant colour. Emeralds join rubies and sapphires to form ‘the big three’ of coloured stones. This stunning gem derives its name from an ancient Persian word for green, translated to Latin as “smaragdus”, and eventually over time, changed to “emerald”. Regarded as the most sought-after stone in the beryl group, the emerald continues to enthrall the world with its lush green colour. With a hardness rating of 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, emeralds make exceptional gemstones for all types of jewellery.
Tumblr media
Ancient civilisations of Africa, Asia and South America were fascinated by emeralds ever since they were first discovered. The oldest emeralds in the world can be found in Zimbabwe, while Colombia is currently considered to be the best-known source for the ‘deep green’ variety of this gemstone. Brazil and Zambia are also regarded as the leading sources for fine-quality emeralds.
Naturally flawless emeralds are very rare and extremely valuable. Very often, emeralds with minute flaws are preferred over the flawless ones as they are considered to be more authentic. It has become a common industry practice to treat emeralds with oil or synthetic lubricants for enhanced clarity. Earrings and pendants offer a great way to showcase the beauty of this mesmerising gem. Additionally, the captivating charm of emerald engagement rings has made it a popular choice among couples across the world.
Tumblr media
Emerald is the birthstone for those born in the month of May. A symbol of rebirth, it is said to promote foresight, good fortune and youth. Emeralds are also believed to encourage growth, peace and balance. Green, by nature, is the most calming of all the hues on the colour wheel, and emerald with its soothing green colour offers relief from eye strain and stress. This gem was often used to decorate sacred images as well.

According to Rabbinic legends (the mainstream form of Judaism), God had granted King Solomon four precious stones that gave him the power to rule over all creations. One of these stones was an emerald. It was also believed that this gem protected the wearer from evil spells, and also gave the ability to foresee the future.
Tumblr media
Throughout history, emeralds have been prized for their rarity and beauty. The Incas used them in their jewellery as well as in their religious ceremonies for over 500 years.
One of the earliest known emerald mines was located in Egypt. Cleopatra, who’s believed to have been fascinated by the stone, used it in her adornments. The Egyptians also often buried emeralds with mummies with the hope that the stone would provide them eternal youth in the afterlife. Another interesting legend states that Roman Emperor, Nero watched the gladiator fights through an emerald, as the gem possessed the ability to soothe the eyes. This precious stone was also associated with Venus, the Greek goddess of love and beauty.

Crown of the Andes is often viewed as the largest collection of emeralds in the world, originally made for the life-size statue of the Virgin in Colombia. It was made back in 1660s when diadem was manufactured and later modified when arches were added around 1770s. It includes emeralds taken from the Inca Emperor Atahualpa and is made from 18-22 carat gold. There are overall 450 emeralds on it. The largest of which is the “Atahualpa Emerald” that has impressive measurements of 15.8 by 16.15 millimetres.- 9gems.in
The vivid green hue of the emerald is often compared to lush green landscapes. Due to its green countryside, Ireland is often referred to as the Emerald Isle. Similarly, Seattle, located in the US state of Washington is called the Emerald City due to the greenery that surrounds it. This stunning gem has also featured in some of the world’s most iconic pieces of jewellery, including the necklace of Queen Marie Jose (the last royalty of Italy) that showcases around 50 stunning emeralds, and diamonds as well.
Although an emerald is an excellent gemstone for most types of jewellery, it is more fragile than other forms of beryl. Emerald requires careful handling due to its naturally included and flawed formation. There’s a high possibility that it may develop additional internal cracks if subjected to extreme temperature change or rough impact. Extra care should, therefore , be taken while handling the precious emerald.
Cedar oil, which is a colourless and viscous product from cedar trees, is used for treating emeralds. This oil is available in a very pure form and is beneficial for filling the fractures in an emerald. However, penetration into the tiny cracks of the emerald is difficult, as cedar oil is extremely sticky. For this reason, heat and pressure are sometimes utilised for better results. This process involves cleaning the emeralds and locking them inside a heated hydraulic cylinder with pure cedar oil. While the heat causes the cedar oil to liquefy, the pressure facilitates penetration into the tiny cracks of the gem. Once the stones are cooled, the cedar oil returns to its thick, viscous state and remains intact unless ultrasonic cleaners, excessive heat or harsh solvents are used.

The “Vladimir Tiara” that was a favourite piece of Queen Mary, was inherited by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in 1953, according to the last will left by Queen Mary. The Vladimir tiara belongs to the personal collection of Queen Elizabeth II
The colour is the most important feature that determines the quality of an emerald. Other factors include cut, clarity and carat weight.
Tumblr media
Emeralds in bluish green to deep green, with not a very dark tone and vivid saturation are the most preferred. The relative amounts of chromium, vanadium and iron determine the colour of the stone. Emeralds that are highly transparent, devoid of any eye-visible colour zoning are extremely sought-after. An evenly distributed colour further elevates the overall appeal and value of the gemstone.
Emeralds are known to have visible inclusions, which are often described as garden-like or mossy. These inclusions are also referred to as ‘jardin,’ the French word for garden. The transparency and clarity of emeralds are closely linked. Eye-visible inclusions are generally accepted, but if these inclusions impact the transparency and clarity, it drastically reduces the value of the emerald.
Emeralds are susceptible to damage during polishing, cutting, setting and even careless daily wear. The ‘emerald cut’, also known as a trap-cut or step-cut, was specifically designed for emeralds.
Tumblr media
jewelry secrets
It protects the gem from mechanical strain and chipping. This cut (also used for other gemstones) helps maximise the hue, tone and saturation of the emerald, thereby enhancing its overall beauty. Besides the emerald cut, this gemstone is available in several other shapes, including oval and round.
Tumblr media
Emeralds come in a wide variety of sizes. While emeralds in museums weigh hundreds of carats, there are also some that weigh a fraction of a carat. The smallest carat weights range from 0.02 to 0.50. Emeralds that weigh 1 to 5 carats are popular as centre stones.
The Chalk Emerald
Tumblr media
The superb clarity and colour of the Chalk Emerald ranks it among one of the world’s finest Colombian emeralds. This 37.8-carat emerald exhibits the velvety deep green colour that is highly prized. According to legend, the Chalk Emerald was once the centrepiece of an emerald and diamond necklace belonging to a Maharani of the former state of Baroda, India. It originally weighed 38.4 carats, but was recut and set in a platinum and gold ring designed by Harry Winston, Inc., where it is surrounded by 60 pear-shaped diamonds totalling 15 carats. It was donated to the Smithsonian by Mr. and Mrs. O. Roy Chalk in 1972 and is on display in the Gem Gallery at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC.
Diadem of the Duchess of Angoulême Marie Thérèse of France
Tumblr media
The history of this exquisite tiara is almost as complicated as that of its famous owner, the Duchess of Angouleme. Its value is immense not only because of the exceptional stones used for its creation but also because of the fact it is one of the few pieces of jewellery of the period that remain in their original state.
This tiara was commissioned in 1819 by Louis-Antoine, the Duke of Angouleme for his wife Marie-Therese, the Duchess of Angouleme. According to Bernard Morel’s masterpiece “Les Joyaux de la Couronne de France” (Crown Jewels of France). The final work on the tiara was completed in late 1819 or early 1820. After a long list of owners the diadem finally became the property of the Louvre Museum, where it is on display today.
The Moghul Emerald
Tumblr media
Indian culture has a long tradition of appreciating gems and jewellery, and emeralds were no exception. The rulers of India were passionate about the green gem which was supposed to bring good luck. One of the most unique artefacts from India is the Moghul Emerald. Dating from 1695, The Moghul Emerald is a 217.80 carat square gem which was carved on both sides. The front side features an elegant Arabic script with a Shi’a Muslim prayer. On the reverse is a naturalistic floral carving design of a rosette surrounded by poppies. As the Moghul rulers were Sunni Muslim, the carved emerald talisman is not thought to have belonged to the Emperor himself, but rather to one of his officers. The gem itself is believed to have been mined in Colombia. It was sold at auction by Christie’s of London in 2001 for $2.2 million.
The Guinness Emerald Crystal
Tumblr media
The Guinness Emerald Crystal was discovered in the Coscuez emerald mines. It is one of the largest gem-quality emerald crystals in the world—1759 carats—and is the largest emerald crystal in the collection of emeralds belonging to the Banco Nacionale de la Republica in Bogota, Colombia. The origin of the name Guinness is not known, but the elongated, 1759-carat, bright green crystal undoubtedly had all the credentials to enter the Guinness book of world records as the largest gem-quality emerald in the world at least for some years until it was surpassed by other larger natural emerald crystals. The colour of the emerald is a bright green colour with a slightly yellowish undertone, characteristic of emeralds from the Coscuez emerald mines.
The Seringapatam Jewels
One of the most breathtaking suites of emerald jewellery in existence is the Seringapatam Jewels, which is housed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in England. The ornate set consists of a necklace, brooch, bracelet, and pair of drop earrings created from emeralds, diamonds, gold, and platinum. The emeralds were originally a reward given to British Major-General George Harris, following a victory at the Battle of Seringapatam in India in 1799. The emeralds remained in the family, and were eventually set into the spectacular suite of jewellery for the wife of the fourth Lord Harris, Lucy Ada. The gems were made into jewellery over a period of years, beginning with their marriage in 1874 and continuing until 1887.

Largest California wildfire threatens marijuana-growing area (AP) California’s largest wildfire is threatening a marijuana-growing enclave, and authorities said many of the locals have refused to evacuate and abandon their maturing crops even as weather forecasters predict more hot, dry and windy conditions that could fan flames. The wildfire called the August Complex is nearing the small communities of Post Mountain and Trinity Pines, about 200 miles (322 kilometers) northwest of Sacramento, the Los Angeles Times reported. Law enforcement officers went door to door warning of the encroaching fire danger but could not force residents to evacuate, Trinity County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Nate Trujillo said. “It’s mainly growers,” Trujillo said. “And a lot of them, they don’t want to leave because that is their livelihood.” The area is in the Emerald Triangle, a three-county corner of Northern California that by some estimates is the nation’s largest cannabis-producing region. People familiar with Trinity Pines said the community has up to 40 legal farms, with more than 10 times that number in hidden, illegal growing areas. Growers are wary of leaving the plants vulnerable to flames or thieves. Each farm has crops worth half a million dollars or more and many are within days or weeks of harvest.
Things to avoid during your Zoom session (Reuters) An Argentine lawmaker has resigned after being caught on a live camera caressing his wife before appearing to partially pull down her top and kiss her breast during a virtual session of the country’s lower house of Congress on Thursday. The lower house of deputies said in a statement on Twitter early on Friday that it had voted to accept the resignation of Juan Ameri, a representative from the northern province of Salta in the ruling coalition. Virtual meetings amid the coronavirus pandemic have tripped up lawmakers before. In June, Ireland’s Luke Ming Flanagan appeared to be wearing no trousers as he discussed policy matters with his European Parliament peers.
Queen Elizabeth II to trim costs as COVID-19 hits income (AP) Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and her family are facing a 35 million pound ($45 million) hit from the coronavirus pandemic, partly due to a shortage of tourists, the monarch’s money-manager said Friday. Releasing the royal household’s annual accounts, Keeper of the Privy Purse Michael Stevens said a lack of income from visitors to royal buildings was likely to bring a general funding shortfall of 15 million pounds ($19 million) over three years. He said the impact of the pandemic is also likely to cause a 20 million-pound ($25.4 million) shortfall in a 10-year, 369-million-pound program to replace antiquated heating, plumbing and wiring at Buckingham Palace, the queen’s London home. Stevens said the royal household would not ask for more government money but would “look to manage the impact through our own efforts and efficiencies.”
As Virus Cases Surge in Europe, Hospitalizations Lag. (NYT) In Munich, normally brimming with boisterous crowds for Oktoberfest this month, the authorities just banned gatherings of more than five people. In Marseille, France, all bars and restaurants will be closed next Monday. And in London, where the government spent weeks urging workers to return to the city’s empty skyscrapers, it is now asking them to work from home. Summer ended in Europe this week with a heavy thud amid ominous signs that a spike in coronavirus cases may send another wave of patients into hospitals. But just how imminent is the peril? As they weigh actions to curb a second wave of the virus, European leaders are dealing with a confusing, fast-changing situation, with conflicting evidence on how quickly new cases are translating into hospital admissions—and how severe those cases will end up being. In Spain, where new cases have surged to more than 10,000 a day, hospitals in Madrid are close to capacity and the government said it was preparing to reopen field hospitals in hotels and in the city’s largest exhibition center. Yet in France, which reported 66,000 new cases over the last seven days, hospital admissions and deaths, while also rising, are going up more slowly. There is a similar divergence between infection rates and hospitalizations in Germany and Austria. And in Britain, which reported 6,178 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday—the highest figure since May 1—just 134 patients were admitted to hospitals on Monday, barely a tenth of those admitted in early May.
Pope to UN: Use COVID crisis to come out better, not worse (Washington Post) Pope Francis urged world leaders Friday to use the coronavirus emergency as an opportunity to reform the injustices of the global economy and the “perverse logic” of the nuclear deterrence doctrine, warning that increased isolationist responses to problems “must not prevail.” Francis laid out his appeal for greater involvement and influence of the United Nations in protecting the poor, migrants and the environment in a videotaped speech Friday to the U.N. General Assembly, held mostly virtually this year because of the pandemic. Francis said the world has a choice to make as it emerges from the COVID-19 crisis and addresses the grave economic impact it has had on the planet’s most vulnerable: greater solidarity, dialogue and multilateralism, or self-retreat into greater nationalism, individualism and elitism. “The pandemic has shown us that we cannot live without one another, or worse still, pitted against one another,” he said. “This is why, at this critical juncture, it is our duty to rethink the future of our common home and our common project.”
Migrants accuse Greece of pushing them back out to sea (AP) Shortly after reaching the Greek island of Lesbos, a group of Afghan migrants say, their hopes for a new life in Europe were cut short when Greek authorities rounded them up, mistreated them, shoved them into life rafts and abandoned them at sea, where they were rescued by the Turkish coast guard. Turkey, which hosts about 4 million refugees, accuses Greece of large-scale pushbacks—summary deportations without access to asylum procedures, in violation of international law. Greece, which lies on the EU’s southeastern border and has borne the brunt of migration flows from Turkey, denies the allegations and in turn accuses Ankara of weaponizing migrants. In March, Turkey made good on threats to send migrants to Europe, declaring its borders with the EU open. In what appeared to be a government-organized campaign, thousands headed to the Greek border, leading to scenes of chaos and violence. Turkey’s border with EU member Bulgaria was largely unaffected. Greece shut its frontier and controversially suspended asylum applications for a month. Uneasy neighbors Greece and Turkey have been at loggerheads for decades over several territorial issues, and asylum-seekers have found themselves caught up in the geopolitical conflict.
Taliban entrepreneurs (Foreign Policy) For decades, Afghanistan’s untapped mineral wealth has been touted as the country’s trillion-dollar El Dorado. But while the Afghan government has never been able to monetize mountains of copper, iron ore, gold, and gemstones, the Taliban have—and are ramping up their mining operations as just-started peace talks aim to shape the future of a postwar Afghanistan. In recent years, the Taliban have deliberately moved to secure control over regions of Afghanistan rich in mineral deposits, from lapis lazuli mines in northern Badakhshan to gold, lead, and zinc in Helmand and vast talc and marble deposits in southern Nangarhar. The Taliban, who already control most of the country’s mineral wealth, are banking on further developing the sector to make it the bedrock of the country’s postwar economy—or theirs, at least.
The Indian navy and China (WSJ) India’s border conflict with China is pushing New Delhi to look for an asymmetric response: flexing its naval might as it deepens cooperation with other democracies that seek to counter Beijing’s global ambitions. India, which operates one of the world’s largest navies, sits astride shipping routes in the Indian Ocean that connect China to its main sources of oil and gas in the Middle East and to its key markets in Europe. Though growing fast, China’s navy still has only limited ability to operate in a region far from its home shores—and has to contend with the U.S. in its own backyard. “On the northern border, the best we can hope for is to achieve a stalemate. But at sea, we have an advantage over the Chinese,” said retired Adm. Arun Prakash, a former head of the Indian navy. “A show of force at sea can send a message to China that you are vulnerable, that we can interfere with your shipping and with Chinese energy supplies. Their economy would be shaken up.”
‘Tis the season for travel in China. But virus fears cast a shadow over festivities. (Washington Post) Zuo Weiwei has been stuck since February in her hometown Wuhan—yes, that Wuhan—and the problem now is that the city is overflowing with tourists. Wuhan’s government, like many across China, has been offering free tickets to tourist attractions to try to salvage economic growth. For better or worse, it appears to be working, as China approaches its first major holiday season since tamping down the coronavirus. The “Golden Week” holiday is one of the largest annual human migrations, with upward of 700 million people on the move. This year, it will be a crucial test of China’s efforts to regain normalcy and prevent new coronavirus waves. The holiday season begins with China’s National Day on Oct. 1, marking 71 years of Communist Party rule. The period also coincides with this year’s mid-autumn festival, a one-day holiday that falls on the night of the fullest autumn moon. With borders closed around the world, those in China itching to travel have had to look closer to home. Around 408 million highway trips are expected to be made this Golden Week, slightly up from last year, China’s Ministry of Transport said on Thursday. But the flood of travelers will make social distancing difficult and brings the risk of new virus outbreaks that could spread rapidly across the country.
Tunisian migrants (Washington Post) The economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic is propelling thousands of Tunisians to make the perilous Mediterranean journey in search of better living conditions, with the largest wave in nearly a decade reaching Italy’s shores. The strict lockdown Tunisia imposed in March was largely successful in containing the outbreak, but the measures devastated the country’s already ailing economy. During the first eight months of this year, nearly 8,000 Tunisians crossed the Mediterranean to Italy, six times as many as last year.
Palestinian elections (Foreign Policy) Fatah and Hamas, the two largest political factions in the occupied Palestinian territories, have agreed to hold elections for the first time in almost 15 years. The last elections, held in 2006, resulted in a landslide victory for Hamas, leading to bloody clashes between the two sides and a de facto split within Palestine, with Hamas taking control of the Gaza Strip and the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority (PA) retaining control of the West Bank. Leaders said a vote will be held within six months. The move follows an unprecedented show of unity among Palestinians in opposition to recent moves by several Arab states to normalize diplomatic ties with Israel.

8 Reasons to Visit Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

8 Reasons to Visit Michigan’s Upper Peninsula
Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is known for its small towns surrounded by wide swaths of thick forests that in the late summer are swallowed in heavy early morning fog coupled with winding dirt roads—you can literally count the number of cars you pass on one hand. While it may sound like the perfect setting for Stephen King’s next chilling novel, The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is also home to a diversity of natural beauty untouched by humans.
Places to Visit in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula
I won’t lie, Michigan’s UP wasn’t always on my travel list. I had heard about its flawless beauty but as a vegan, I thought I would starve in a land that prides itself on its hunting prowess. Dining amongst horned and furry trophies just didn’t appeal to me.
But then our travel lives changed. We began switching out jaunts across the pond for staycations and the allure of mineral-stained cliffs and turquoise waters beckoned me to Northern Michigan. I’m glad they did. I was in awe of the beauty that had been beneath my nose all these years.
Even if you’re not an avid outdoorsman wanting to connect with Mother Nature, I promise, you too, will be in awe of its amazing scenery. Need more convincing? Check out these 8 reasons to visit Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Marvel at Michigan’s largest waterfall, Tahquamenon Falls
Whether you visit in the warmth of summer, in the midst of autumn’s kaleidoscope of colors, or during winter’s chilling wonderland where trees are perfectly covered in a blanket of lush white snow, a visit to Michigan’s largest waterfall is a must! Located in the second largest park, Tahquamenon Falls State Park houses two powerful waterfalls-the Upper and Lower falls. Nicknamed “The Rootbeer Falls” by locals, the falls have an unusual brown tinge to the water thanks to cedar tannins that have made their way into the water. Nothing to be concerned about but it creates an interesting color to the flowing falls that you’re sure not to forget!
Tips for visiting Tahquamenon Falls
Most flock to the Upper Falls first, but if Tahquamenon isn’t your final destination, I would stop at the Lower Falls and then continue to the Upper Falls because Google will most likely have you continue your travels south along 123.
At the Lower Falls consider renting a rowboat for $7 a person or $20 per boat to get an up-close view. If you’d rather stay on land there are a myriad of hiking and biking trails, including a short trail with a ½ mile jaunt to scenic overlooks and a 13-mile Rivermouth Trail. Whatever your choice there is plenty of room to explore! And, if you want to stay a little longer, consider renting a rustic or modern campsite.
Enjoy one of four National Lakeshores in the United States, Pictured Rocks
Best known for its wildly rugged cliffs that look as though someone unleashed a toddler with a paintbrush, The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is a must-see destination in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The lakeshore stretches 42-miles from Munising to Grand Marais and offers visitors the opportunity to explore over 100 miles of trails, 12 miles of pristine white sand beaches with Caribbean blue waters, multiple sand dunes, an array of flora and fauna (including black bears!), and so much more.
You may be wondering what caused the painted cliffs of the National Lakeshore? The cliffs’ coloring actually comes from deposits of iron, copper, manganese, and limonite that, when mixed with the groundwater running down the face of the cliffs, creates exotic coloring of orange, white, red, blue, and green.  The end result has become one of the most photographed spots in the UP because of its unique beauty.
Cliff dive in Presque Isle State Park
Not to be confused with Presque Isle in Pennsylvania (always Google it with Marquette in the search), this 323-acre park is located just outside downtown Marquette. The park looks as though it has truly been untouched by man, and to some degree, that’s true, thanks to Fredrick Law Olmsted. Olmstead is known for his involvement in designing New York City’s Central Park and in the late 1800s, he made a visit to Marquette to advise the city on how to utilize Presque Isle. His advice was simple, “don’t touch it.” Over 100 years later his advice is still being followed.
Visitors can take a break from the hustle and bustle of life and hike through the park’s many trails or consider biking the 2-mile Peter White Drive loop, which circles the entire park and takes visitors through canopies of fragrant pines and skinny birch trees. Every once in a while, the forest breaks to reveal Lake Superior.
But, the number one reason visitors flock here in the summer is to tackle their fear of heights and jump from the park’s 10-15 ft. black rock cliffs and cool off in Lake Superior. To find this special place, head to the northern tip of the park where, in the heat of summer, you’ll see cars lined up along the road. A small parking lot is also available.
Even if you don’t want to take the plunge, it’s fun to watch others hesitate, re-consider, and ultimately jump into the emerald waters.
Enjoy lunch in the UP’s largest town, Marquette
After exploring Presque Isle Park, head back into the charming college town, Marquette. With just over 20,000 people it clocks in as the UP’s largest town and one of the few places in the UP where you can enjoy the charismatic small-town vibe and shop at well-known stores to stock up on creature comforts.
The town offers a great mix of dining from greasy pizza to dishes sourced entirely from local Michigan farms. My suggestion is don’t miss The Bodega, this LGBTQ-women-owned restaurant sources almost its entire menu from local Michigan farms and prepares everything from scratch, daily. Dining here is a treat! The menu is well marked for vegan and gluten-free dishes, making it the prime spot to experience the fresh flavors of Michigan for all its diners. I also suggest you try the sweet potato-filled Que Pasa tacos.
Where to stay in Marquette – Landmark Inn is a lovely boutique style historic inn that is located downtown Marquette.
Hike or bike until you just can’t go anymore
If you love to work up a sweat and get your heart pumping, then the UP is the place for you! Michigan is well on its way to being known as a “Trails State,” with thousands of hiking and biking trails that weave through heavily wooded forests and snake along sandstone cliffs on Lake Superior.
Bike to Munising or Grand Island
If you want to clip in and explore the terrain with two wheels, head to Munising! The city has been hard at work creating a variety of trailheads to entice bikers to saddle up. The trails are all located within easy reach of downtown Munising but the track you don’t want to miss is on Grand Island. Hop on the Grand Island Ferry for $20 and get ready for rustic wilderness and 40 miles of trails to explore. The trails range in difficulty but if you’re looking for a scenic work-out then hit the island’s 20-mile 2-lane perimeter track.
For those of us who’d rather stick to exploring with our own two feet, there are an endless array of trail options that range in difficulty, many come with Instagram-worthy views, waterfalls, and hidden beaches! A few spots not to miss include The Chapel Loop Trail in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Sugarloaf Mountain in Marquette, and The Lake of Clouds in the Porcupine Mountains.
Kayak in Lake Superior’s Caribbean blue waters
Lake Superior’s emerald and turquoise waters beckon visitors to jump on in! Not only is it a fun activity but it’s the best way to view the mammoth Pictured Rocks.
For seasoned kayakers, you can bring your own and get paddling, but if you don’t own a kayak or are maybe unsure of your paddling prowess, consider joining a guided tour. The guided tours in Pictured Rocks take paddlers by many gorgeous sites like Bridalveil Falls, Chapel Rock, Kissing Rock, and Lovers Leap Arch, among others. The tours are leisurely paced and take anywhere from 2 – 6 hours.
If you’re paddling on your own be sure to keep an eye on the small craft water advisories as Lake Superior can become choppy quickly! If that happens, take off from Sandpoint Beach and paddle to Grand Island. The waters are sheltered around the island creating a smooth ride and Grand Island has great painted cliffs too.
Capture beautiful views from Sugarloaf Mountain
If you want a breath-taking view but don’t really want to spend hours hiking to find it, then head to Sugarloaf Mountain. The trailhead is located just a few minutes outside of downtown Marquette. There are two trail options, easy and difficult, but to be honest, they both take about 15-20 minutes and require a fair amount of stair-climbing. It’s worth it once you make it to the top, you’re rewarded with unobstructed views. On a clear day, you’ll be able to see Lake Superior, Marquette, Presque Isle Park, and Little Presque Isle as well as Hogsback Mountain and the large swath of forest between Marquette and Big Bay. ?
It’s a great spot to enjoy the changing fall colors too.
End your day with spectacular sunsets
For most city-dwellers, sunsets are obstructed by buildings, power lines, and more making it difficult to get a clear view of the pink and orange sun-soaked sky. Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is filled with countless miles of wide-open sky and sea, making it the perfect place to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view.
A few great spots to enjoy the view include Sandpoint Beach in Munising, Grand Sable Dunes in Pictured Rocks, Brockway Mountain Drive in Copper Harbor, and White Fish Point in Paradise.
These are 8 amazing reasons to visit the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. If you are looking for adventure, outdoors and a great food scene, be sure to add Michigan to your travel list.

GEMSTONES MINING
Most gemstones in the Earth's crust are formed about 3 to 25 miles below the Earth's surface. Two gemstones, diamonds, and peridot are found much deeper in the earth. The "Kimberlite Pipe" forms a diamond that originates from the earth's crust (> 125 miles) and ends at the surface. Gems are usually extracted using a hydraulic suction system or a continuous-line bucket system. The latter acts as a preferred method and surface-to-surface conveyor belt where the ship or mine site extracts the desired gems and returns the trails back to sea. We do this with raw gems, wash them in a solution of water with baking soda, take them home and put them in a clean container and sometimes put a fun candle in the jar. You and your family should have a great time at any rate. People are very knowledgeable in gem mining. In principle, gemstones are not really sustainable - they are a limited resource. However, there are ways to reduce environmental damage. If not designed with mining operations in mind, they can contaminate air and water, destroy soil, and destroy habitats. Mining gems in the village of Shiloh can be very profitable with caramel gloves 3 or 4 and a dragon or crystal package. ... All in all, players can average up to 300-750 gems an hour and predict gains. There are gem mines all over the world (except pearls and corals which come from the water source) and some countries are known for the type of gems mined there. For example, ruby mines of Burma and diamond mines of South Africa. Ratnapura or City of Gems in Sri Lanka is famous for its sapphire and ruby mining along with some other precious stones. Amethysts are mined all over the world but those with the highest saturation are mined in Australia. Emeralds are mostly found in mines of Mexico, while Brazil is the largest source of sapphires. Russia is famous for alexandrite deposits. In the underdeveloped world, gemstones are still mined by small-scale miners using rudimentary tools, fire, and homemade explosives.
Opals form in the earth's crust when the molten rock below it rushes through the crevices formed in the area where lava meets the lowermost layer of earth's crust. Once the super-hot lava starts cooling down it starts to crystallize. Sometimes, when the process of cooling is fast, instead of crystal a non-crystalline stone is formed after solidification. The type of stone that eventually forms depends upon the type and saturation of various minerals in the cooling lava. Rubies, for example, are formed from corundum or aluminum oxide. Most gems are mined after a tedious search process but in rare cases landslides cause a precious rock to be laid bare. One of such reported incidents include the accidental discovery of sapphire in Kashmir in 1880, where footlong rocks of sapphire were discovered by a hunter.Opal Ring that are mined are in a rough form and only experts can sift gemstones from worthless rock. Production of high-quality rough gemstones is in short supply and there is a huge demand for them. In fact, acquiring rough gemstones is one of the most challenging jobs in the gemstone industry. Skilled workers and precision cutting machines are used to give them the appearance of sparkling gems. Heat can improve the color and clarity of a gemstone. For example, citrine is made from heating amethyst. Tanzanite is almost always heated to remove brown undertones and to give it a sparkling blue or purple color. Some gemstones are used in the natural form: crystal or non-crystal. Most gemstones are however cut and polished before they are sold to stores or jewelry manufacturers. Opaque stones like opal necklace and turquoise are cut as cabochons- highly polished and cut convexly but without facets. These are fashioned to reveal the precious stones' color and surface properties. Transparent gems are usually faceted, which is cut with a faceting machine by polishing small flat windows at regular intervals and exact angles.

A New York Museum Staple Gets a New Glimmer This article is part of our latest special report on Museums, which focuses on reopening, reinvention and resilience. When most of us hear the word “evolution” we think of Charles Darwin or the Lucy skeleton. We generally do not think about nonliving things, like rocks. But in recent years, scientists have begun applying the concept of evolution to a specific nonliving — but ubiquitous — object: minerals. This new perspective allows for a different kind of storytelling about both minerals, which are often found as sparkly, colorful crystals within rock, and the history of the planet. As the American Museum of Natural History in New York City prepares to reopen its redesigned Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals on June 12, evolution is front and center. George Harlow, a geologist who has been the curator of gems and minerals at the museum for nearly 45 years, said when scientists talk about the evolution of inanimate things, they are referring to changes that happen over time. “It’s an answer to the question of why, as life on Earth has changed over the last 4.5 billion years, have nonliving minerals changed too.” Today, there are more than 5,000 species of minerals — over triple the number from when they first developed — and over time they have diversified in chemical composition and color. The story of how that happened, that evolution, is a new one for the museum, Dr. Harlow said. “For the first time in this gallery, we are looking at life’s impact on the mineral kingdom.” The incorporation of this new science (it entered the scientific mainstream around 2008) is evident throughout the galleries, which have been redesigned for the first time since 1976, by Ralph Appelbaum Associates in collaboration with the museum’s exhibition department, led by Lauri Halderman, vice president for exhibitions at the museum. The old iteration of the exhibit hall was dark and had a layout reminiscent of Chutes and Ladders: stairs and winding passages filled with interactive exhibits and touchable rocks. But all that has changed. The space is much less of a labyrinth now, Ms. Halderman said. “And less mysterious.” The redesign feels spacious, brighter and intentional, with higher ceilings and a palette of neutral grays; even the lighting inside the cases has been meticulously planned and executed. Entering the new space, visitors are greeted by a pair of towering amethyst geodes, one 12 feet high and the other nine. Their massive interiors look a little like the universe itself, with pinpoints of white light scattered among glittering, dark purple crystals. In each glass case, minerals are displayed with the help of custom handmade mounts — a specialty of the museum — so that each specimen appears to be floating. In fact, the whole gallery is designed to let the minerals and gems take center stage, with little distraction. “This is very conscious on our part,” Ms. Halderman said. “We want the room to recede when you’re here. Although it’s a beautiful space, it’s not the focus.” Touch screens in the galleries will remain untouchable monitors for now, although one has been adapted so that visitors can see the information on their phones. One of the first exhibits is a spiraling timeline. A tiny dot of light at center signifies the Big Bang (although Dr. Harlow noted light did not actually exist then) and moves outward, with lines marking events that made possible the birth of minerals, including the formation of the solar system, the development of the Earth’s crust and the emergence of life. And then there are the colors. One of the more compelling of those events was “the great oxygenation,” a period when the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans first experienced a rise in oxygen, between 2 billion and 2.5 billion years ago, which resulted in a burst of color in minerals, a characteristic that hadn’t existed before. The exhibit includes some spectacular examples, like an intense blue-green chrysocolla; a pockmarked, deep orange crocoite; and a glittery, blood-red chunk of rhodochrosite. Storytelling plays a big role in these exhibits, whether about shifting continental plates, the movement of water or the history of a particular mine. “Science standards today emphasize big ideas that connect across disciplines, such as patterns in nature, cause and effect, structure and function,” Ms. Halderman said. “Those help you understand how minerals form, but also how everything forms.” In the Gem Hall, about 2,000 of the museum’s collection of more than 4,700 gems are displayed in warmly lit cases lining a three-sided room. Gems are minerals, too, ones that have been cut, ground and polished to enhance their appearance. Old favorites are still here but shown in an entirely new light (quite literally), like the luminous 563-carat Star of India Sapphire and the 632-carat Patricia Emerald. A new addition to the collection, donated by the New York jewelry dealer Siegelson, is the Organdie Necklace, designed by Michelle Ong, with more than 110 carats of diamonds set in platinum and made to resemble a delicately woven lace collar. (The necklace was worn by the singer Rihanna on a recent cover of Essence magazine.) Here, too, the focus is on storytelling (for now, small monitors will display a scannable QR code that allows visitors to see identification information on their phones). “We made a decision to use our labels to tell visitors global stories,” Ms. Halderman said. Those includes stories of the places where gems are found, how they are cut, their colors and unique properties, chemical composition, industrial uses, cultural uses and significance. A standout in the redesigned Halls is the Minerals and Light room, with displays that aim to show how light illuminates and interacts with gems and minerals, including those hidden deep within rock. The room feels a bit like a small theater, but in the place of a movie screen is a giant, glass-encased slab of rock — 19 feet long and nine feet high, weighing nearly 10 tons — taken from the Sterling Hill Mine, a once-active zinc mine in New Jersey that is now a mineral and mining museum. In daylight, this hulking rock is just a drab brown, but when hit with ultraviolet light its appearance is transformed, as layers of minerals light up in fluorescent colors. When the wavelength of light changes so do the colors, from stripes of magenta and pale green to an almost blinding orange and lime green. Everywhere in this redesigned gallery are reminders of the importance of both scale and time, and reminders that the living and the nonliving — life and rocks — may seem on the surface to be opposites but are actually deeply and profoundly connected. Stormbringer ((Page 15-40))

Chuya Nakahara never dreams His awakening is like bubbles rising from the mud. Chuya woke up in his room. There are walls, floors, and ceilings that are murky rooms. The blue darkness that covers them. The furnishings are "Kishingaku". A bed with sheets and a small bookshelf embedded in the wall of a small bookshelf A jewel-related booklet is randomly opened on the desk in the center of the safe. That's all. Asahi, who looks like a film inserted through the gaps in the curtain crevice shading cloth, cuts the murky room into two halves, and Chuya Nakahara got up. I'm sweating a little around his chest. The slag was swirling around it, but I can't remember what it was like. This is always the case these days. I gave up and got out of the sleeper and took a shower. Chuya Nakahara thinks about himself while bathing in boiling water from his head. He is 16 years old. Since joining Port Mafia a year ago, it has achieved results at an unprecedented speed, and it is a program of at most 2383 lines that researchers who are recognized by the organization C () DE: 0 have devote themselves to it.
16
The boy was given this room because he was warmed up, but he brought no money, no position, and no joy to Chuya. In the past, Nakaya doesn't know who he is. The memory of Setsu is that he was kidnapped from a military research facility eight years ago. There is no life before that, the darkness of one side What kind of darkness of the night It's deeper and darker than the darkness of the shooting ball. He wiped his body and headed for the dressing. When he pushed on a side of the wall, the wall opened silently, revealing a clothing rack. All his clothes were high-class, and I chose one of them that had no wrinkles and put it through my sleeves. Hold the emerald jasper cuffs on his sleeves and look in the mirror. After a small tongue, Chuya left the room. When he left the 0 Sugu family, a shuttle car appeared as if he had timed. The black luxury car was driven by Port Mafia's black clothes with light-shielding glasses. When I stopped at Chuya's sideways sentence, the more important thing that silently opened the back seat door remained missing.
17
"To the usual shop," Chuya said to the driver, he got into the car and closed his eyes. A black luxury car ran smoothly on the main road in the center of the city. Commuter cars were jam-packed on every road and every intersection. However, the Wakimichi car carrying Chuya passed through the convoy, a side road, and a traffic jam. It's as if you used magic that wouldn't interfere with other cars. "What was yesterday's transaction record?" This is it. "',," Chuya read the documents given by the driver. It is a document printed with a special dye that cannot be duplicated. All the content was encrypted so that it would not be evidence even if it was held down by the police. 0 "Hmm, is the transaction going well this week?" Chuya said in a throwing voice. Chuya's job at the "boring" Kanshi Sport Mafia was to monitor the distribution of smuggled gems. Gemstone-One of the highest substances in the world, Iguiyamond Shimizu, has the highest value per unit weight. Jonathan. Jade. And the mere element under pressure from Kongoishi will become a magic stone with terrifying magical power as it touches people's eyes, fins, and hands.
18
And the condensed thing of that demon is the smuggled jewel. As long as there is a jewel that was like a shadow created by the brilliance of the jewel, there will always be a smuggled jewel that is a shadow. There are countless places in the world where the shadow of the world and smuggled jewels are born. A poor miner sneaks in and steals in a gem block. Alternatively, a robber smashes a jewelery store, Shokes, with a stock and takes it away, or a pirate sinks a merchant ship carrying jewels. Or hold a quick-up robbery from the neck of Serep. The "dark" gems thus created in the mining areas owned by the rebels, paid for weapons and drugs, cannot enter the world of light as they are, where illegal organizations such as Port Mafia have trouble. A carrier who sheds light on the dark-colored jewels that have flowed to the port of Yokohama brings them to Yokohama, the late shop buys them, and a skilled processor does not know the source. Cut it back to. Turn the necklace into a 0 presslet, the presslet into an earring, and the earring into a ring to bring a second life to the jewel. The new gems created in this way are given a formal appraisal by the Mafia's breathtaking gem, a smoky appraiser, put on the market by wholesalers, and lined up at the front of the prestigious jewelry store Ire. The smuggling jewelry industry is one of the most important sources of income for the Australian Mafia. Giyo, Kaya
19
This is because smuggled gems, which can eliminate intermediate exploitation by customs and distribution control companies, always generate enormous profits. However, items with magical power like jewels inevitably attract blood and violence. So far, Chuya, who should be prepared for further violence, such as chewing any violence in one bite, has done its job perfectly in order to suppress it and establish stable distribution. Too perfect. Many of the members of the old stock were surprised. I didn't expect the 16-year-old kid to manage the dark jewel market so perfectly. However, there were a few who were not surprised. Those who fought against "Sheep", an organization that was once headed by Chuya. The king of the organization that continued to afflict the Mafia. I wondered what wondered when one or two of the jewelry markets were completely controlled, but surprises, praise, or jealousy didn't matter to Chuya. What they want is something they can never give. Chuya Nakahara threw the document into his seat with the annoyance of throwing a pebble. And he said in a small, thorny voice, "I don't know how many years it will take at this rate." The driver pretended not to hear. Surprising Exploitation is', Re "
20
The luxury car carrying Chuya headed for a quiet residential area as originally planned. It was quiet except for the crowing of the greenfinch in the low sky. The sound of the train and the hustle and bustle of commuting, the car that couldn't reach this point ran quietly and stopped in front of a store. Brick Old World Brick old billboards have the store name Ku Old World,-in pale letters. Chuya got out of the car because the neon tube was not lit because it was before the store opened in the morning. The car ran away quietly so as not to break the tranquility of the residential area. Chuya opened the store door. Five guns greeted Chuya. "The store is in preparation," said two men, holding their guns. The muzzle of the pistol is pressed against Chuya's head. "Isn't it okay if it's a corpse?" Said another man, Su-san. A shotgun with a barrel cut down is placed on Chuya's chest. "Isn't it careless without an escort, Mr. Jewel King?" Wow, a different man said. A pistol is pointed at Chuya's flank. Is it enough?
21
"Even you can't prevent the first strike from this position :::" another man screamed. A small pistol that fits in the palm of the hand is attached to Chuya's neck. "What should I do? Invincible Gravity Master. If you cry right now and apologize, I'll kill you easily." I said in front of Ya. A long-barreled pistol is aimed straight at Chuya's eyebrows. If you attack one person, you will be shot from the rest. If you try to retreat, you will be shot from the front. Before you are shot from the front, you will be shot from the back. Chuya did not react. I didn't even change my facial expression. The air in the room was hardened. Everyone put a lot of effort into the fingers on the gun. The dry sound of "Han!" Echoed in the surrounding streets. 0 From the head of Chuya who stood up, the colorful decorative strings that hung down like bloody ("Chuya! Port Mafia Joining One" Congratulations on the anniversary! "And the joyful voices of the men echoed throughout the store. Chuya looked around with a disgusted head. Dead rock fluttering.
22
"I'm a fool." That's "It's not a huge monster ..." White smoke was rising from each barrel, and a colorful paper company was on Chuya's head. In the air he flutters with confetti. The men were looking at Chuya, who was covered with a string, with a grin. Gathered there were members of the Mutual Aid Society within the Port Mafia. He is not just a mutual aid society. All of them are the leaders of the future of the organization, and their positions are equal to or better than Chuya. And all are composed only of young people under the age of 25. Port His Mafia's young wolves, who are only called "Young People's Association" by the organization. Chuya sighs and walks to the back of the store with a cold look without greeting anyone. "Why isn't Chuya happy?" Said a tall man on Nakahara's back. "Everyone got together for you." "Don't celebrate the first anniversary." Chuya told me to reject. "I'm glad I don't know what to do." "Don't say that. You must love it." A tall man chased Chuya. "I'll have time to give a souvenir later. Isn't it fun like a student?" Chuya stopped and turned around and stared at the other person. "In other words, you are the mastermind or the piano man. Your sense of joke is rotten at all.":
23
Egao "Well, I'm still breathing today to annoy everyone with this rotten joke." Chuya's sarcasm returned a cool smile to the mafia standing in a black cloak and white long skirt. .. Known in the organization as "Piano Man. His clothes are always in black and white. He is tall, has thin fingers and always has a happy smile. He is the founder of this youth association and It plays a role like a leader. It is this man who invited Chuya to this young group. He is more like a craftsman than a mafia. He is almost the only fake bill with the same accuracy as the real one in Yokohama, a complete fake bill But with a whimsical personality, if you're not happy with the fake bills, you'll run out of time for months, even if it's an instruction from the chief. By the way, The nickname "Piano Man." Does not come from black and white clothing. He uses an electric winder with a carbon steel piano wire to kill his enemies. When this copper wire is entwined around his neck, any mysterious power It can't be removed, and in a few seconds the neck will fall off. What's left behind is the perfect flat between the shoulders. And the voluminous blood and the reverberation of the screams of the victims. A man with cruelty. He is now said to be the youngest man closest to a boat mafia executive. As Chuya walked into the store, another man called out. Haha! Chuya's face was awesome! At least I'm in great agreement with this show! Saseiya Zankyo

Hitsujio A young star and former mafia enemy, Chuya Nakahara, the King of Sheep! It's worth joining this young group just to see your troubled face! " As he swirled his gun, he laughed in a voice that a young blonde man often passed through. Chuya glared at the blonde young man. "Hmm, tell me. If I didn't realize that it was a show, you were dead at the beginning of Albato 0 Suze, Mia Tori Ku" Jimankobushi Nagu "Wow. I'm sorry, but I was killed by Chuya. It's not as good as it gets, but before being hit by Chuya's proud fist, this hatchet cuts off his fist. ”Babiro Kukri Knife When you say that, a wide hatchet appears silently from the back of your jacket. It was. The young man let go of his hand after flashing his blade and slashing the air several times in a non-heavy motion. The impact of the fall of the floor pierced the hatchet, and the young man laughed as the hatchet ran radially on the floor with a heavy sound. 0 Yukai Albatross Laughs a lot with a funny face, the street name of the young man is Ku Abotori 4 He is a tuned person and speaks better than anyone else. His men lose sight of him, even in the middle of a struggle of bullets, blood and flesh. " If he goes to talk or laugh, he's there. Albatross, tsu ... Toku Abotori Tsu is said to be in control of "everything faster than walking" in the Port Mafia, that is, a vehicle. That's his territory. , Coast Guard Leh crack

He will prepare all the transport boats that will not get caught in the higuchi and the dar. In some cases, we will also procure criminal vehicle supplements with forged registration number marks. Originally an organization's "escape shop," you can control anything with a control stick. Faster and more precise than anyone else. Rumor has it that he took a shabby fishing boat and escaped from the Coast Guard's high-mobility combat helicopter, but no one in the organization doubts that rumor. The person who offended him cannot live in an organization for three days. The car, the stream of stuff and money, is at his knees. If he hates him, all economic activity will be cut off and he will quickly become ill-mannered. "Chuya Nakahara, let's make a toast." However, Chuya ignores it at a glance and walks to the back of the store. "Oh, I'm in a bad mood today, Chuya." The stupid bird left while supporting the glass with an exaggerated movement to prevent champagne from spilling. "About once a month, he suddenly becomes moody, but what happened? Did he have a pulsed dream?" A pulsed dream. The moment he heard the word, Chuya looked back and looked like a flame. "It's not like that!" 25 Bungo Stray Dogs STORM BRINGER

The angry quivering the glass of the store "Scary ::: What?" Chuya hesitated a little, wandered his eyes, and said that his voice was a little less tuned than before. "Maybe it's because you make noise upstairs every day until the morning, but it's a stupid bird. I'll forget it many times, so I'll say it again, because your floor is my ceiling." "No. You can't forget it? You know, you're a neighbor. ”The stupid bird laughed with a benign face. The stupid bird lived on the same high-class residential land as Chuya, one floor above. According to Chuya, the placement of Abatos was one of the biggest mistakes the Port Mafia made. The stupid bird sometimes gets into Chuya's room on a whim and pulls out Chuya by saying,'・ Help with work ,. And Chuya got better at swimming thanks to taking him to a ridiculously distant battle zone on a car, a ship, or a helicopter. This is because the stupid bird does not always prepare a return flight. Albatross Chuya ignored the stupid bird and walked to the back of the store. And when I tried to put a cloak on the hanger hook of the store, a man with a champagne glass appeared next to me. From the back of his bangs, he was screaming at Chuya with a dark gaze. "I didn't expect you to stay this long: Albato 0 Susaki, Albatross

Fufu and the man were strangely thin. A thin wrist is swimming in the sleeve of his shirt. What's more, the hand that doesn't have a glass of champagne is holding a drip stick that hangs the drug solution, and the tube that extends from the drip bag disappears into the clothes. He was an unhealthy man. "Surgeon" Chuya received the champagne glass presented. Then he looked inside. "I don't think it's poisoned." "No poison." The man called the surgeon smiled darkly. "I wonder if you can't kill with poison." "What do you know?" "It's an experience." "Because I've killed a lot with poison" with dark eyes. Mafia medical director, only a surgeon. In the black society, there are many unlicensed doctors, but he is different. He is a real doctor with a PhD in medicine in North America. Sugujuyo, the dark doctor is a profession that is in great demand in a black society. If you go to a regular hospital, you have to rely on a dark doctor to treat the wounds that are reported to you-gunshot wounds and torture wounds-the same in Port Mafia. It is. Fishing,

But there are also differences. In the Port Mafia, doctors are especially important and favored chiefs, Ogai Mori, who is also a former dark doctor. Ryo, Tsujin and the thick port mafia medical team, Ku surgeon is the best doctor. At this young age, he has already saved the lives of nearly 800 humans. And he deliberately took the same human life as that. His purpose is to get closer to God. His belief was that "every time you save a person, you can approach God." His goal is to save two million lives, the same number of humans that God killed in the Bible. I entered the Mafia, and I was waiting for a large-scale conflict where people would die like bugs. "It's not like they're all gathering together, no way to gather surgeons: I looked around. "In the first place, it's about the first anniversary, do you hold such a gathering?" "I'll explain that." A young man with a gentle voice came out with a slow movement. 0 "The first year after joining was the most difficult time for the Mafia." Su "What?" The scared young man smiled. The smile is seductively sweet. And his facial features are strangely well-organized. The magical beauty is that if you dress up as a man and smile, a woman will be dressed up, and if you dress up as a woman and smile, a man will be watered down.

Deadman's Carp "The first year is the steepest curve of the dead for mafia subscribers. In the meantime, most humans either run away, are crushed, or are confused and erased by the organization.・ It's a celebration of survival. ”Maybe,“ Sledding and fun. Did you think I was crushed by a blunder?''A public relations officer? ”Chuya glared. No, I don't think. "I am."'・ The young man, who was called a public relations officer, smiled mysteriously. And', Shu spokesman-丨 His work is extremely special among these people. A window for negotiations with the world of light. That is the job of a public relations officer, that is, the job that appears in public. He also negotiates with front companies, meets and negotiates with government officials, and in some cases responds to the press. If Port Mafia has a front face, it's him. 0 It was extremely difficult to kill him. In a sense, it's harder than killing the chief, because he's an active movie actor and a fashionable child who even has enthusiastic supporters abroad. If he was killed or missing, media outlets around the world would write and report it as the most important article, so it's natural to be in a turmoil, who killed it, 1 how?
30
In other words, the search for suspects attracts attention from all over the world. It is a situation that the back organization absolutely wants to avoid. In addition, since the public relations officer himself is a powerful talent, and his ability is a counterattack type talent that responds to the attacker's murderous intention, evidence is given. It is absolutely impossible to erase it quietly, and once the criminal is named, media outlets around the world will enthusiastically reveal the murderer's identity, purpose, and mastermind. The privacy of the people involved in the organization who took the lead in the murder was launched high in the sky and never returned. The organization is over. Destrap Bakutan Oso, he's the first bomb to fire when he dies, a deadly poison that no one can touch. And his weapon isn't just famous. He is a born actor. The speech and bargaining ability that comes from his acting capsetsukan, and his beauty, which is said to have a perfect curve on his face, especially the problem with the legal world, were when he reached the bargaining table. You almost settle "But if you get kicked out of the organization, I don't care at all," the spokeswoman smiled like a feather. "At that time, I'll invite you to my main business. Let's aim for the world as a silver screen haiku together." Su "I'm absolutely sorry." Chuya made a bitter face as if he had poisoned. "I'm absolutely sorry to say it again." "I objected to the anniversary," I suddenly heard that quiet voice echoing from the back of the store. I didn't scream. There was no intimidating voice. However, everyone was silent and the voice was scary.
31
I looked at you. A man in plain clothes stood there Iceman: Shiriki Shin "Mi Cold Blood ,," Chuya said in a cautious voice. "That's right. The celebration seat doesn't look good on you." The man had no feelings. His presence was different even in the gorgeous and intense youth association. He had the tranquility of a dark night, radiating any ambition or impression, rather inhaling all the signs and sounds of his surroundings. Icemank cold blood. The second oldest man after the piano man, he is an expressionless and expressionless man. He prefers simple clothes. And his work is also quite simple and mundane. Hitman, especially in the Mafia. All the time he carries a knife that doesn't even use a gun that doesn't use his abilities to kill, but he never uses it for work. He works with what's indispensable. Fountain pen, liquor botokiyoto, kazahimo shunkandan cancer 2 ru, electric lamp decoration string. The moment everything is in his hands, he's a more dangerous weapon than a bullet, so he can kill people anywhere, whether in the desert, in the palace, or in the vault of the bank. Although it may be inside, there is another special skill in the desert man and cold blood. When he activates a different ability nearby, he feels it as simple as his skin.
32
It is his constitution, not his ability or skill, that he can feel. Therefore, his success rate in killing is higher than that of the hundreds of fighting talents, because he can instantly sniff out the right place and time for killing. However, because he does not have different abilities, he cannot pay attention to the special affairs section and the military police's special crime countermeasures section. Take measures, just a shadow man with no connection. If Chuya could be killed, the most likely thing would be cold-blooded ostriches, the organization said. Iceman "I didn't expect you to come to my celebration, Mi cold-blooded ostrich. Do you hate me? "Chuya laughed provocatively. "You and I killed each other once in the" sheep "era, so it seems that you failed to assassinate me and lost your reputation?" "I opposed the feast, but that was you. It's not because I don't like it. It's because I have a grudge and I don't have an iceman. It makes you more angry. " "It's not like it's crushed." "What?" tzi Iceman "I thought it would cause a rebellion." The cold-blooded voice was as sharp as the sound of a lump of ice cracking. The leader of the Sheep. I thought you would betray the chief and kill him and wage war on Mafia. To prevent that, Pianoman had you join this youth group. "
33
Chuya glanced at the piano man. The piano man is expressionless and watching the conversation. Neither denial nor affirmation. In other words, it is affirmation. "::: Yeah. That's right." Chuya glared at everyone. "Everyone was kindly watching over me like a newborn red toy boy. I'm thrilled. So that I don't get sharp, I'm wearing a toy and even rattling. Thanks. So I was alive and turned one year old, so I need a big toy event. "He said, squeezing a glass of champagne in his hand. Iceman eyebrows where liquid splatters Even if you see it, cold blood does not move your eyebrows Iceman "There is evidence to warn you" Cold blood continues. "June 18th, 3:18 pm. A jewelry wholesaler who offended the rooftop was injured for three months after he was completely healed. The reason is that you did a good job. It's a lonely question, but when you hear it, you blow the wholesaler to the roof of a three-story building. "2" Was that so? I forgot. "Contrary to the content of the reply, Chuya's eyes are sharp. .. "If you have the courage to try it now, try it now," Su'Iceman cold-blooded. After five seconds of expressionlessness that sucked in all the emotions, he said, "Where were you born? Sui Suiman Eritsuka Gochuya reacted quickly. Grabbing the cold-blooded collar and pulling it roughly.
34
The sewing of the shirt broke somewhere and there was a sharp noise. Ötzi "What's this hand?" Cold Blood looked down at the hand he grabbed and said emotionally. "It's up to you," Chuya screamed from the side, as if the stupid bird was in trouble. "Hey, take it to that side," and grabbed Chuya's arm. "Don't get angry at such a question, Chuya. You're not like me?" "You can't decide what's like me. I'll kill you." Chuya swiftly flipped the arm that grabbed herself. The stupid bird, who was dressed to be pushed away, stepped on the tatara behind him and stepped forward, and Chuya's leg suddenly stopped. I, Tsukinha :, "Chuya's temple has a billard stick attached to it. Horizontally, with the edge of the sword, you can stick it. : What is this stick? "Chuya said silently, still. "Hey 0 Iceman" It's up to you, "said the cold blood holding the stick. Chuya pulled his upper body away from the stick, and then shook his head and head-butted the stick. (The stick flew away. A myriad of pieces of wood from Icemans splattered throughout the room. Most of them fell on the cold blood that had the sticks, and only Iceman. A sharp piece of wood cut through the right temple and blood was eye-catching It runs down the edge of the room, but the cold blood even blinks.
35
No "That's it" I heard the most ruthless voice I've ever had. Behind Chuya: Before I knew it, a transparent piano wire extended from the sleeve of the raised arm on which the piano man was standing, like a high-class necklace that circled Chuya's neck. .. The first rule of this young society, "Chuya", the piano man said coldly. "Don't use different abilities for your friends." Did you forget it? ”The name is piano wire, but it is different from the one used for musical instruments. It's not that easy, it's a completely industrial steel wire that hangs and ties up rebar and concrete lumps, and a take-up device is installed behind the sleeves of the piano man. When it starts, the piano wire transforms into the lightest decapitation stand in the world, and the neck is cut off. Even if Chuya tries to reduce the mass of the piano wire by gravity operation, it is not possible to increase the winding speed, so it is the neck. "I know you're in a bad mood, Riyama," said Piano Man. "If nothing is done, you will lose to Dazai. You have to become an executive before Dazai. Because, in the first place, you were in Remafia because you had a secret document that only executives could see. Because it's for reading. The document tells you what you are. "Wakato Umei
36
Chuya's expression has changed. "Why that :::" "But it takes another five years to become an executive in this condition." Chuya's eyebrows are engraved with deep wrinkles and the meshed teeth creak. No, I say, "Pianoman smiled ruthlessly. "I'm being told by the chief," "What?" Chuya flirts with "I was ordered. Immediately after you joined the youth association, what should I watch for Chuya?" Do you want to get new information? Do you want to investigate the contents of secret materials on your own? "" I'm a ::: watcher. If you don't need to see it, you're a human being of an enemy organization, of course. You've been told why, of course, and you're a piano man who could strip your fangs. It's a totally amazing truth. " "::: Stop" Chuya moaned in a murderous voice. B. "" Araha vomit ". Also known as the military's artificial genius research body," Prototype Ko 258th ". That is you. You are not a human being, you are just an artificial I suspect it's a personality. The basis is

Because you don't dream. "Chuya groaned unvoiced. It was a momentary event. Chuya's right hand flashed like a snake, grabbed the pianoman's arm, and crushed and destroyed the electric winder for the piano wire there. Then, Chuya's left hand picked up the falling sticks and debris from the throat, and attached the pointed tip to the piano man's throat. Apatrosk Kukri Knife Machine Vist spokesman, who moved quickly except for Chuya, took out the submachine gun from the inside of the suit and attached it to Chuya. The hatchet sword of the stupid bird was hit on the neck of Chuya. The surgeon took out the syringe and put the tip on Chuya's temple. He picked up a glass of champagne with broken cold blood and brought its pointed tip close to Chuya's eyes. And everyone at rest was moving, even holding their breath. It's like a still photo. The only thing that moves is the power and the ball that receives the rising sun- "Only the dust that shines and shines 0 All of them could kill someone's life with just one action, but no one moved. Su "Do it," said Chuya. The voice was the trembling of a squeezed bow. "Anyone can do it, but let me finish planning the event before that." Piano Month said in a plain voice.
38
"What?" "Is there a souvenir for the first anniversary?" I took it out of my pocket. "This is it," Chuya moved his gaze with a watchful expression. And, as if it was frozen, the breathing that stopped everything seemed to stop even beating. The mosquito came out of Kawa Chuya's hand, and the fragments of the stick that he was holding fell off. Chuya picked it up as if he had forgotten the surroundings. It was a photo. "Isn't it worth it? I had a hard time." Chuya approached the photo as if he was fascinated. The voice of the piano man has not arrived. Chuya, who withdrew his weapon with a bitter smile, didn't even notice it. 0 "If you ask an unprecedented question, show it from the next time." It was Chuya, who was five years old. Somewhere on the beach. With the sea in the background, Chuya and a young man wearing hemp kimono are shown. The two are holding hands, and the young man heading toward the photographer is squinting and smiling, perhaps because of the dazzling diagonal sunlight. Young Chuya is foolish and uncertain if he doesn't know what's going on.

"The picture was taken in an old rural village in the western region," said Piano Man, looking at the photographer. "Now it's an abandoned village, and no one lives in the area, but the surgeon got a hit from the medical records kept in the nearby village. 丨 丨 Surgeon" "Fufu ::: Human Even if he lied, the dental record does not lie. "The surgeon brought another document with an unhealthy smile. "Medical records have to be kept for several years ::: That duty has become a light ::: Fufu: ・: ・"-Kouwa', Chuya looks embarrassed and the surgeon and him Comparing the documents presented by him, "Don't worry if you take credit for yourself, a surgeon!" "Without my power, I couldn't even reach the medical record. The medical record of the crushed clinic is from the company that has as much sand as the sand on the beach that the medical corporation keeps together. , I followed the memoirs to find the desired storage location-because I threatened all the material storage companies and finally arrived at it!
