“You deserve more than I could ever give you, James.” Regulus pleads as he pushes James’ chest away, desperately trying to run from the conversation.

“I don’t care what you think I deserve!” James cries, reaching out and tugging at Regulus’ sleeve, spinning him back around. “All I know is that I want you, Regulus. Can’t you see I love you?” His voice breaks as he brings Regulus closer, pressing their foreheads together.

Regulus whimpers as he leans into the touch, his prior intentions immediately forgotten the second James’ skin meets his own. “You can’t, James. I can’t.” He protests, despite not showing any signs of moving away. “I can’t. It’s not right, not for you.”

“It’s alright to love me.” James whispers, pulling back to meet Regulus’ glistening eyes. James wipes a tear from his cheek, Regulus was unaware one had fallen, and presses a kiss on the tear’s remnants. He keeps his lips there, warmth pressed against cold skin, as Regulus melts into his awaiting arms.

“Please love me, Reggie.”
