Literally cannot stop thinking about black broth.
The national dish of ancient Sparta was literally Emulsified Meat Product(tm). There are satirical plays from Athens with jokes about Sparta having to import soup from other cities because nobody wanted to eat domestic soup. Health and fitness weirdos in the early 20th century heard about and were like "Well, the Spartans were Very Strong, so maybe we should all start throwing random animal parts into a pot and boiling it until it looks like tar. Much to think about."

For me, the vibe drastically shifts when I think of the moon knight system individually—
Tumblr media
Like there’s Steven, who’s very sweet and accommodating. He’s easy going but just the right amount of snarky that never fails to make you snort with laughter.
He’s the kind of person I’d want to go to Starbucks with and order a large refresher only to walk around Target for a good two hours like it’s the mall or a farmer’s market.
Steven is Tuesday nights spent sprawled out on a modest sized couch, the two of you wrapped under a large blanket and trying to be respectful of each other’s space as you’re both self conscious of how much space you’re taking up.
But eventually, your calves are touching and ankles are interlocked as you’re leaning over him to get something off the end table.
It’s him standing at the bathroom sink, brushing his teeth and intently listening as you rambunctiously complain about obnoxious coworkers and customers over the noise of the shower running, shampoo being massaged into your scalp and rinsed from your hair.
He’s the partner you spent your adolescence daydreaming about.
Tumblr media
And then there’s reserved, calculated and partially measured Marc. He’s quiet in an attentive sort of way, the type of big, semi-permanently grumpy guy who’ll take mental notes of literally everything that has to concern with you.
For example, he’ll pinpoint the exact pieces in your wardrobe you’re more inclined to pull out and wear before anything else in your closet— and he’ll always be sure to have washed, folded and returned them to their drawers so that they’re ready for you to pull on again at the end of the day.
It’s the kind of act of service that’s so subtle, you don’t realize he’s been doing it for months.
This man will fully memorize your go-to restaurant orders and act like it’s simply a coincidence when the waiter arrives and he’s just finished flawlessly reciting what you want, for you.
He knows what things you tend to somehow always forget to pack in your purse for work and will neatly line them up on the kitchen bar so that you couldn’t possibly miss them (you still forget to take them though… and after a while, he just starts packing your work bag for you. It doesn’t take long and he finds it’s nice that it gives him something to do.)
Marc is Sunday mornings spent baking cupcakes, lining the counters with different flavored box mixes, eggs and large ceramic bowls. Splashes of vanilla extract, tins smeared with butter and coated in flour for easy removal. The smell of sweet chocolate icing filling the air.
The two of you taking turns alternating from dish duty to prep. Pressing indulgent kisses in between his shoulder blades as he whisks eggs into oil and water like the yellowy yolks owe him money.
The way you serenely clean up behind him— a little spilt cake mix here, or broken eggshells there— doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated. The small gestures really go miles for him.
Marc wordlessly gives out tender pecks, against your temple or at the nape of your neck just because. He’s comfortable silences and fingers warmly intertwined.
He’s the man you find yourself stealing glances at when you think he’s not looking, wondering how you got so lucky.
Tumblr media
And last, but never least, there’s Jake who’s hardy, spartan and disciplined. A true product of his environment and circumstances. Someone who learned from their oppressors and surpassed them in their capacity for brutality. The thing about Jake however, is that he has a great proclivity for gentleness as well.
Jake is Wednesday nights, the two of you undressing layer by layer, garments piling into a neat stack to later be placed into the laundry hamper. Jake resting his chin over your right shoulder, his arms wrapped around your middle as you fold your pants and his shirt.
He’s knelt alongside the white garden tub, his hand under the running water from the facet, adjusting the temperature as needed. Eucalyptus scented suds and bubbles fill the space around you as your back rests against his chest.
With his hands brought around your front, he peels one of the set of three clementines you’d brought from the kitchen. Hand feeding you segmented pieces to be lazily gnawed at, soft sloshes and splashes sounding at your feet as you wiggle your toes in the comfortable silence. The two of you exchanging hushed mumbles.
He’s cold nights with chill air slashing your cheeks, a steady chocolate stare he fixes you with as you shuffle in place in front of him. His neck craning as he leans forward, a gloved hand encasing your hands clasped at your mouth and moving them aside— his lips pressing against yours wordlessly.
He’s the protector you only ever heard about in passing stories.

Welcome to the shitshow
We have:
A ✈ sighting. No pics.
The MPC live, scarce details. No rings. Spartan decor. Suntan and out of Bonnie Scotland. No further details on destination, which might or might not be the same as the flight. Mark me, I think it is - he is in Gran Canaria and for a very precise reason: keeping his part of the deal and his Onlies on tenterhooks.
C is seen in Marseille, hullaballoo ensues. We pinpoint some coincidental details. I was expecting the shite to hit the fan in 4, 3, 2, 1...
And it did. With both sopranos hinting at the same person, but only one brave (or rather foolish enough) to push a name out there. Disingenuous, to say the least - but oh, how convenient for any given agenda. Because it's too easy, when you give out a name to a thirsty crowd to say: 'well, of course it's because of the shippers! They did this or that (sky is the limit)! They are to blame!' (excuse me?) and 'well, of course they won't say a word, now' (how convenient if the thing does not stick, eventually).
That was, IMHO, a strategic mistake and the petticoat is showing across the pond.
Around the same time, I started to get a different kind of Anon, day after day after day. Very brutal. Foul-mouthed. And...with some intel. I answered the first, but then when things started to 'happen', the coin dropped very quickly that: a) I did hit a nerve and b) someone or some people wanted me to push this particular agenda - remember when...?
For reference:
Tumblr media
And then today, just in time for the long, boring, chilly and even snowy (depending on your location) week-end, the bomb dropped and the cargo was juicy:
A name. A woman. A gym. Not one, but three suspicious videos: the one with the leg, the one with the clear voice (unmistakably S!) and the one with the dog (and more S voiceover). How nicely connected. How fucking perfect.
An Airbnb close to the gym. What would a single woman traveler do in a three-bedroom gargantuan villa all by herself, when you are in Winterbird Central with a bajillion other accommodation options, is beyond any logic. So easily and lazily - OMG, date!
Unless...
Unless you conveniently forget some details:
Tumblr media
Not one, but three different promos/endorsements, with a discount code to boot - 10% off, how nice!
The one that has been discussed by just about everyone:
Tumblr media
The one that provided the discount code for new subscribers: Gymshark, a fitness attire manufacturer (https://eu.gymshark.com/).
And the most important one, hiding behind a humble hashtag: #metcon. Now I don't know you, but I'd rather digress about tea parlors and bookstores, and so had no fucking idea Metcon was, in fact...
Tumblr media
Yup. Nike. A very recent model - expensive and sure, in need of immediate product placement/promo:
Tumblr media
And so, for tax reasons, she just had to (mandatorily) include the #ad (as in advertisement, lest we'd not have naive Anons again!) hashtag.
Also, this, posted along the short reel with S's voice (but who cared, all 👂were there and only there):
Tumblr media
That woman was working. She has, after all, 450k Insta followers. If she and S met at a gym in a winter destination very sought after by Scots should be none of our business. If they met again or have a regular training schedule does not mean they fuck or that we're going to look out for Remarkable Week-end 2.0. If they met in Hyrox GLA - so what? What is this, I beg your pardon, Gilead? People just can't hang out, like ever, I mean men and women?
🙄
But.. but... the gargantuan villa...?
Och. Sure enough, the place is correctly identified. You can check chez Marple. I am not posting it, because I do not want to and by now, I trust just about everyone has seen those pics. But this time, I am not going there. The name of that villa, even, made me laugh like a drain. I mean how more in your face can they be?
Who footed the bill of this rather comfy PR shitshow, reminiscing of Ha-wa-wee, 🐰 and whatever else you could think of? SRH?
Perhaps. But what if Nike did, as a freebie to a very good promoter? They sure can spare the dime and, to be honest, as we speak, there is no sign S and her share anything else than a gym schedule. What tells us with absolute certainty, at least at this moment in time, she is not there with friends, family or even a group of fellow promoters, Avon-style?
Oh, and the world is definitely a handkerchief, especially in GLA, it would seem. Wanna know who also follows her on Insta?
Tumblr media
Paul Donnelly. Nope, not the chef. This Paul Donnelly:
Tumblr media
The one who literally owes S a shitload of cash. A post that earned me a report (I was just explaining, if I remember correctly, that S would have been wise to legally secure that hefty loan, nothing more).
And now you know what? That post is gone, vanished, poof and I have no idea why. I surely did not take it down, I never do this.
And surely enough, just before I started writing, Filthy Anon came back and warned me there was more (pics, 👅👄) about McFitness. Surely enough, the same info (albeit toned down) was picked up by *urv in her comments' thread, about twenty minutes after Anon dropped by.
Agenda, anyone? God forbid!
You draw your own conclusions. I can only very honestly say:
Welcome to the Shitshow - the Winter Edition!
This page is not going to follow blindly your script, whoever you are. This page simply hopes to cleverly hit a nerve every time it considers necessary. Other than that, big effing deal, really. Ship on.
Sorry for the length. I was never good at summing up.

okay y'all seemed to like the last one so here's a few more Horizon 3 thoughts:
Aloy won’t die. It would completely upend the series’ themes and just be really nihilistic.
Since Nemesis is a gestalt entity I think it’s a safe bet that we’ll see Sam Witwer, Carrie-Anne Moss, etc again. I’m curious how they’re going to do it because at least structurally, it’s basically a reaper. Maybe it’ll use different Avatars when communicating like the Leviathan in ME3.
It's gonna take some work to make a flashback/dream/vision not contrived but I would love to see Varl and Rost again. I think we deserve that.
Minerva is gonna have its work cut out for it blocking access to both the dormant Faro Swarm and the ZD terraforming system.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Nemesis has some sort of corruption function that becomes the equivalent of the corruption in HZD. It would be a really fun tech showcase if GG uses Zenith nanotech for machine corruption and leans into mechanical body horror.
If we’re going to Ban-Ur I really really hope they do the work to make the Banuk less problematic and more fleshed out as a culture. A quasi-Spartan society absolutely would not survive in an extreme environment, *especially* without megafauna to hunt. The Banuk characters are lovely and well-written; they deserve a society as well thought out as the Utaru or Carja. I’m honestly fine if there’s retcons or revamps to the cultural lore because the whole “outsider barges in and becomes chief” is rooted in racist, colonial tropes and we just don’t really need that imo.
The most recent footage of Death Stranding 2 (also running on Decima) has me SO excited for the visuals. GG’s gonna knock it out. The facial rendering and animation that Kojima Productions are doing looks industry-peak and I’m sure GG’s gonna match that. Aloy’s Gay Panic™️ scene on the beach in HBS is already top-tier nonverbal storytelling through animation. Digital Foundry actually just posted a really cool tech breakdown of the current Decima engine. I’m especially excited about the environmental stuff. The ocean simulations in HFW are already incredible and I hope they increase verticality in the world. I can’t wait to see the Sacred Lands in current gen graphics.
I really love Kotallo’s DIY arm and it’s so so important to his development but Beta and Gaia now have access to Zenith nanotech, maybe give your buddy a sick upgrade hmm?
Speaking of, I can’t wait to see Beta come into her own. She’s one of the best parts of HFW and Aloy’s character absolutely shines in a sibling dynamic.
I wouldn’t get your hopes up for a romance mechanic. Everyone’s feelings on that aside, it would be really odd from a game development perspective to just overhaul part of how the narrative develops Aloy’s character in the last act of the story. Yeah, there are flashpoints but I would argue that the presence of choice in Horizon is smoke and mirrors- cosmetic at best. Kentucky Route Zero (which you should play) does something similar where the player is given a certain amount of control over the substance of individual conversations and scenarios and it does absolutely nothing to alter the plot, by design. I think it’s the same here - this isn’t really a choice-based RPG, the flashpoints don’t really affect anything plot-wise or for Aloy’s character development. Olin is still out of the story, Nil lives, Regalla still dies one way or another. Aloy’s character development is pretty firmly on rails (think Jin Sakai, not Shepard - you get to guide some momentary character reactions but that’s it). I don’t think HBS is a testing ground either - If they were gonna introduce a romance mechanic I think they’d just do it, and not spend two years making a direct continuation of HFW’s main quest and establishing a specific romance hard-baked into the plot, complete with multiple leitmotifs for the character relationship (which is something they haven’t done before afaik) just to introduce a side quest mechanic coming in 5 years. I genuinely can’t think of any game or dev that has beta tested a major alteration to upcoming game mechanics that way - it doesn’t really make any sense in terms of developer resources, and these games are extremely time-consuming to make. I know this is a thing a bunch of people want and I can totally empathize with that! I just think it’s probably not on the table.
I would bet money the series will bookend itself and the epilogue will involve a) the naming of Zo and Varl’s kid and b) Lis’ pendant.
Mostly I'm just looking forward to being surprised. One of my favorite things that Horizon does is use carefully established elements in the world to pull the plot in unexpected directions and keeping the world grounded while they lean into speculative science fiction. I can't wait to see what Guerrilla is cooking up

Was Sparta actually good at war, or are they among the most overhyped cultures in history?
I'm with the Overly Sarcastic Productions team on that the Spartans are massively over-hyped. It's characteristic of the Spartans that they managed to manufacture an enduring mythology of nationalist triumph from a battle they lost because they couldn't be bothered to guard their flanks with even the lightest of screening forces.
However, if you look at their historical track record, the Spartans simply weren't very successful. They lost to the Persians, were basically losing the Peloponnesian War until the Syracusians and Persians bailed them out, they promptly got trounced by the Sacred Band of Thebes, their slave colonies defeated them, they were defeated by the Romans, and on and on.
If you want a good antitode to Frank Miller's fascistic propaganda, I highly recommend Kieron Gillen's Three for a much more accurate portrait of the Spartans.

Visiting the Human World
I can't get past NB! Lesson 33, so I wrote these short blurbs instead. Enjoy!
Warnings: Lucifer is a wine snob. Also, Sephora.
Lucifer visits an insane amount of wineries. You then discover that the avatar of pride is a certified wine snob. He questions the sommelier's pairings. He sniffs the cork (discreetly). At least he can and will drink the employees under the table.
Mammon spends a lot of time in museums. It concerns everyone. Turns out, he was planning to steal one of the most famous pieces from the local gallery and sell it for cash - go big or go home, right? He successfully pulls off the heist, but Lucifer makes him return it the next day.
Levi spends a lot of time becoming familiar with human fandoms. He loves The Hunger Games and is 100% convinced that George R.R. Martin plagiarized TTSL to write GoT. He also becomes very fond of Gamestop.
Asmo is appalled by all the 10-year-olds in Sephora. He spends a lot of time trying to teach these kids that they shouldn't be applying Drunk Elephant to their face (they don't need the chemicals!!!). He's so knowledgable about the products that the staff is convinced he works there. He trades juicy stories with them in the break room. 100% knows all the tea, despite the fact that he doesn't actually work there.
Satan leans into his domestic side. He loves grocery shopping with you and trying new recipes. He visit every new gallery in town and drags you to see the latest films. Then, he takes you out for coffee to analyze the major themes and symbolism in each movie.
Beel goes to every human world buffet in your town (which is cannon). He also spends a lot of time at the gym, trying out the most extreme excersize routines this world has to offer. This, somehow, leads to him starring on several reality TV shows (much to Lucifer's dismay.) American Ninja Warrior. Wipeout. Spartan. No matter what show he's on, he quickly becomes an audience favorite.
Belphie...spends a lot of time sleeping. He's the avatar of sloth - what else did you expect? Still, he does occasionally drag himself out of the house to accompany his twin to the buffet. If there's a meteor shower or other astrological event, he'll set up a little picnic for the both of you. (Belphie also asks if he can put his head on your lap - you happily accept.) He stays awake through the entire thing, surprisingly.

Halo Reloaded: Master Chief & more about Spartans
Born and raised on Eridanus-II, John Downes was the son of bioengineers and gardeners, who wanted to genetically modify Earth-plants to be sustainable on other planets (everyone, up until this point, had just been using the indigenous plants from the alien worlds they colonized); up until he was taken into the Spartan Program, John attended a school known as "The Reach For Life Foundation," a prestigious upper-class school (that was created on Reach before expanding out to the rest of the galaxy) designed to turn all of it's students into the next generation of pioneers, colonizers and explorers who will bring life into the uncharted reaches of space. Humanity came in contact with The Covenant in the year 2511. The Spartan Program saw production in 2517; most of the Spartans were born in the year 2528, while John Downes was born in the year 2530. That two year gap may as well have been a chasm between him and his brothers-&-sisters-in-arms. But, like in canon, the main reason why John was chosen despite being everyone's junior was because he still exhibited the exact same unique genetic-markers that all of the others do. With John being the youngest, he's needed to prove himself to the others by working and training thrice as hard as everyone else; his angst comes from the fact that, because he's the youngest, he's the most generic one of the group. He's not the fastest (that's Kelly), not the strongest (that's Samuel), not the biggest (that's Jorge), the best combatant (Fred), the best at weaponry (Vannak), the best at demolitions (James), the best shot (both Linda & Kai, who are rivals to each other, beat John out), the smartest (Riz), the best pilot (Daisy), the best at technology (Joshua), the one with the best intuition (Kurt), or the most charismatic leader (Jerome); he's only really impressive in comparison to the standard marine, this angst he faces is something he later comes to accept as he gets older. He eventually embraces his status as 'The Generic One' and becomes the Jack-of-all-trades, the one everyone can lean on for just about anything; the "Swiss-Army Spartan," if you will. They all got augmented, and the rest is history; but it wasn't until Operation SILENT STORM, the Spartans' FIRST mission as Spartans, where John was given the rank of "Master Chief Petty Officer," the highest rank a non-commissioned serviceman in the Navy can attain; he even got his first metal, "The Purple Heart," after he got shot on the line of duty (and survived, obviously). When he was a kid, before being inducted, John had discovered an ancient Forerunner rock (not that anyone knew what it was) that had almost possessed him; his obssession over it resulted in his father forcing John to bury the drawings he made of it in the backyard. The training and conditioning of the Spartan Progran, while not designed to brainwash anyone, did result in John repressing any memory of the rock. In the present (2552), John had discovered a similar rock during an extraction mission on Biko, which brought a terrifying wave of memories back to him; this drives him to rediscover the rock he found as a kid back on Eridanus-II, in cave beneath the abandoned ruins of his father's old Solar-Paneled Garden Field. After some back and forth battles between The UNSC and The Covenant, John is quick to deduce that the rock he found on Biko is a keystone to the artifact that he found as a kid; with two rocks joined together, they create a starmap that leads to the one thing The Covenant had been after this entire time: Halo.
Spartans are much younger here than in canon, being in their early 20s as opposed to being in their 50s like in the show and the games. Their youth, combined with their less traumatizing upbringing, makes them more colorful in their personalities (still professional and their canon personalities are about the same, but they're less sociopathically brusque and terse like in-canon). Super-Soldiers in media are usually portrayed with two major qualities: Extreme Aggression and Complete Obedience. They're designed to be ruthless killers, desensitized to violence, who are more aggressive than the average soldier, as they are more than willing to make the hard-choices and will not stop until their opponents are dead ("They [Spartans] just... keep killing. Until there's nothing. Left. To kill... You in or out?" - Angus; Halo, Season 1 - Episode 1) and the battle is won. As for complete obedience? Well, that's self-explanatory; they are happiest when given an order and only do what's asked of them ("Good soldiers follow orders." - Crosshairs; The Bad-Batch). The Spartans as seen in Halo Reloaded are the opposite. They're trained in: Lateral Thinking, Improvisation and Freestyling. They're very creative, on and off the field, people who are capable of salvaging a busted plan and thinking on their feet in the midst of high-stress situations; which is precisely why they're so good at their jobs, BECAUSE they're not dependant on the word of their superiors. They're less an army of Robocops and moreso an army of Captain Americas. John himself, particularly in his later years at 22, is a more "Commander Shepard' type of person: Swashbuckling, noble, still emotionally guarded but far less traumatized, charismatic (again not as much as Jerome) and often goes with the flow. He's still much more brusque and aggressive in comparison to the other more lively Spartans (the others often call him "the mean one"), but he's still as nice and compassionate as he's always been.

some Thoughts on the halo tv show🧐
idk whether or not ppl are still avoiding s1 spoilers but either way this will be Long so, below the cut✌
(@helix-studios117 you'll enjoy this probably)
INITIAL REACTION. like 5/10.
- it is funny to me the amount of latin and classical shit in this show, as a classics student "new carthage" and the big slogan on the wall (i could only see "per mare, per (?), per (?)" and all that other shit is SO funny. and cool
- i saw a lot of bad things abt this so my opinion is a bit pre-jaded BUT i see know i think a lot of those bad reactions are well-founded. the writing is decent, tbh, not awful, but too fast. exposition is sloppy, which is expected bc they are trying to aim for both audiences who have been exposed to halo and audiences who have not. but STILL. better to over expose a bit than to leave me with questions (though i also recognize i have barely scratched the surface of halo myself)
- that said, QUESTIONABLE decisions made: no reason for pablo schreiber to be totally naked in that scene. sorry but no. for me it not only felt unnecessary but weird for them to want to get master chief naked - the camera doesn't sexualize him i don't think, but still it was strange. also why did that other doctor dude go in to kiss halsey's double? also in general some dialogue felt kinda forced and boring.
- cinematographically, it looks good. it's pretty normal but looks nice, and there were a few shots or scenes that seemed particularly well framed or shot. the mjolnir armor looks good imo! not AS production value porn as rings of power, which is fun. i especially enjoyed the aesthetic of the scene of john walking around his old house and the shot of him kneeling behind his younger self.
- i don't really mind maskless chief, but i think they're overdoing it with him keeping the helmet off 90% of the time. i think it was inevitable we'd see his face at some point but it's being done very lazily and in a way that destroys part of chief as a character. i think taking it off in ep1 was ridiculous (i also think chief defecting 25 mins into ep1 was ridiculous) and i believe a much more powerful moment to remove the helmet was ep4 after you get all the close up internal shots in the helmet as he's viewing cortana's remaking of his old home. would've been way more powerful to have perhaps snippets of john's face, too close or distant to make anything really connect, before a big reveal.
- i also dislike that the reasoning to keep his mask off so much is that pablo schreiber said you can't form an emotional connection to a masked character if you dont see their face. like it's okay to think that.....but you're just insanely wrong. do you know what show you're in???? do you know the character you have been hired to portray? have you ever seen star wars or played video games? have you ever read a book? when we watched the mandalorian we were all so insanely hyped about what mando looked like DESPITE THE FACT WE ALL KNOW WHAT PEDRO PASCAL LOOKS LIKE. LIKE PLEASE ((also i've written 500k words of fic based around an elder scrolls DLC character whose entire persona is wearing a mask, has no actual canon face, and whom you kill at the end of his DLC. sorry pablo you are just wrong))
- i've seen some ppl complain abt chief having a "real boy" plotline and how stupid that is, which i partially disagree with. i think it's REALLY interesting to suggest and explore the possibility of him and other spartans being able to lift themselves out of being killing machines and glimpse how estranged they are from their humanity, and what exactly has been done to them to estrange them, but i do think the show is laying it on WAY TOO MUCH, WAY TOO FAST. again w strange writing, lacking exposition, and poor pacing. we never really know or see chief to establish him as a Character before he goes rogue.
overall, interesting, but has SO much potential to be way better in a thousand different ways. i have no idea how this was marketed, if they said it would be a good adaptation, but ANY adaptation of a game or book nowadays seems to fall into the trap of "we made a thing! oh no one who likes the source material likes our thing and also we changed the plotlines irrevocably so now we have to say that we're using an "alternate timeline" or our own made up version. but somehow we still get funding" (((cough fucking cough the shitass wheel of time amazon show))) not godawful so i'll probs finish s1 and see how it ends, at the very least it's kinda interesting and i don't know enough about halo to hate it completely. however i know chief smashes a covenant leader which is just 😭 like COME ON PEOPLE. rly?
- that being said i don't HATE the idea of the pellet but there is also something to be said for the immense strength of a lifetime of augmentation, being spoonfed propaganda, institutional lies, and being manipulated both physically and mentally - all of that seems to carry a heavy weight compared to the pellet, which seems almost trivial and a lazy explanation as to "why Spartans are as they are". if they had tried to actually dive into the literal ways the UNSC alters and controls the minds of these people rather than here's a thing that's mostly responsible for keeping you in check, now dig it out with a knife, it could have been SO much more interesting.
- some positives: i like that they are getting the weirdness of halsey and john's relationship. it's meant to feel uncomfortable to us viewers i think, since they have a strange relationship based on manipulation and lies and secrets and etc etc. i also love silver team ofc
also pablo schreiber while i have never seen him in anything else is trying too hard for the chief voice and sounds bad. except at one point in ep1 he raised his voice and it actually sounded so much better lmfao🤪 in general he does an okay job as chief, but again, this chief is pretty un-chieflike. i'm open to other people's thoughts and opinions, good or bad! this is just my take so far on the first 4 eps and my very limited knowledge of halo :3

why was Zeus and Hera’s marriage so unstable and did ancient people like ancient writers think it was unstable?
There isn't a definitive answer for why their marriage is portrayed this way, only theories and interpretations. You'll probably often see their dynamic claimed to represent the forced merging between a matriarchal culture (Prehellenic Greece) and a patriarchal one (the Indo-European invaders), the subordination of a powerful, originally independent goddess by the newcomer god against whose authority she revolts and all that, but of course this is just speculation and the idea of matriarchal prehistory is very controversial.
Another possibility (and this seems quite plausible) is that Hera was an important regional goddess who was not very harmoniously integrated into the Panhellenic Olympian pantheon. Whereas in her main center of worship she was the dominant power, as wife in a patriarchal marriage she has to give way to Zeus. Here's an excerpt from Jennifer Larson's Understanding Greek Religion:
„Interestingly, the diction of Homeric Greek preserves the unexpected formula posis Hērēs (“husband of Hera”) for Zeus, which leaves the impression that Hera is the more important of the two partners. With respect to the religion of everyday social exchange, she was undoubtedly more important to the people in the Argolid peninsula. It was Hera, not Zeus, with whom they interacted most, and on whom they depended for prosperity and victory. Homer repeatedly makes Hera and the other gods acknowledge the overwhelming power of Zeus, yet cultic arrangements in Greek cities did not reflect his supreme status in myth. Instead, nearly the opposite was the case: although all honored him, relatively few poleis made Zeus their patron deity. His early cults were typically situated in remote rural mountaintops and valleys, and he was also worshiped in domestic contexts. The supreme power of Zeus was recognized at Olympia and Nemea, two Peloponnesian sanctuaries which served during the Geometric period as regional gathering places. In the Argolid itself, however, there is little early evidence for the worship of Zeus in his own right. Instead, he seems to have been regarded as the “husband of Hera”: lead plaques depicting Hera and Zeus as a divine couple have been found in three of her eastern Peloponnesian sanctuaries.
This state of affairs created a logical conflict between the mythic, Panhellenic understanding of Zeus as ruler of all the gods and the cultic situation in the Argolid, where the preeminent deity was Hera. Homer and his predecessors were not men of Argos or Mycenae, and they were more concerned with the narrative than the devotional impact of epic song. They responded to the discrepancy between myth and cult by fashioning a theology: Hera, the ferocious partisan of the invading Greeks, comes into constant conflict with Zeus, who sees the bigger picture because he is responsible for the cosmos as a whole. Time and time again, Zeus must bully his deceitful, headstrong wife into submission. … Homer’s portrait of Hera as a disobedient, shrewish wife is a poetic construct fashioned in the service of Panhellenic epic, which insists on the primacy of Zeus. Epic depicts the gods as members of an Olympian family with Zeus as a patriarchal husband, a narrative strategy which requires that Hera, like Shakespeare’s formidable Katharina, be tamed. … The unyielding character of Hera in epic is a product of Homeric artistry, but it also reflects certain characteristics of regional “great goddesses,” such as Argive Hera and Spartan Orthia, who were by turns nurturing and bloodthirsty.”
Did the ancients themselves see their marriage as unstable? Well, they could and did criticize the way the gods were portrayed by the poets, and that definitely included Zeus and Hera. For example, there seem to have been several attempts to interpret Zeus hanging Hera from her wrists with anvils attached to her feet allegorically, suggesting that it was considered quite problematic; „Next, the audacity of those who fasten on Homer finds fault with the binding of Hera. They think they have here rich material for their impious rage against him”, Heraclitus says, after which he proceeds to provide an allegorical interpretation. Aristarchus athetized the lines from Iliad 14 in which Zeus lists several of his sexual unions with women and goddesses to Hera, one of the reasons being that it is inappropriate for the situation and would serve to repel Hera more than anything. And of course there is also Plato, who takes issue with several incidents where the gods behave in a questionable way: „But Hera's fetterings by her son and the hurling out of heaven of Hephaistos by his father when he was trying to save his mother from a beating, and the battles of the gods in Homer's verse are things that we must not admit into our city either wrought in allegory or without allegory. For the young are not able to distinguish what is and what is not allegory.” Lucian of Samosata found much material to satyrize in the marriage of Zeus and Hera, first and foremost his cheating and her negative reaction to it. He outright has her say that she is neglected by Zeus, has Leto mock her over the fact that being the wife of Zeus and sharing his throne will provide her little satisfaction when he'll be off cheating again and she'll be crying about it, + several interactions between Hera and Zeus that are far from loving and harmonious.
We of course can't know what the average ancient Greek thought about their relationship in myth, but clearly there were people who found some aspects of it questionable.

Ok after the the god of war post I can’t get the idea out of my head an au where Ruby’s dad is actually Kratos and am dying to know how jaune would fair meeting the spartan
Well, I already have an AU where Kratos is related to someone else, but... Ah, what the hell. Why not?
---------------------------------------------------
"Ruby, calm down!" Yang chuckled as she sped around her bedroom, cleaning it better than she ever had before.
"I can't calm down!" Ruby said, stuffing the trash full of candy wrappers and burger bags. "You know I can't if Dad is coming over!"
"Is your dad more concerned that you're cleaning than that you're happy?" Blake asked.
"Clearly not if she's this energetic." Weiss huffed. "Why couldn't you have been this productive in our first year?"
The knock at the door made Ruby gasp in alarm. She tossed her cleaning rag to the bin and hurried to the door. She was about to reach for the handle when she grabbed her own wrist. Her hands were filthy!
"Yang, can you get it?!" She shouted as the bathroom door locked.
"Uh, yeah, sure." Yang walked up to the door.
"Uh, hey, Yang." Jaune greeted.
"Wassup, VB?" Yang replied.
"I was just in the neighborhood and-"
"You mean across the hall?"
"Uh, y-yeah." Jaune scratched his head. "Have you seen-"
"I'm not here!" Weiss shouted.
"He can hear you, Ice Queen!"
Weiss was quiet for a time. As Jaune was about to speak, she replied. "No, he can't."
"Actually, I'm not looking for Weiss. I'm looking for Ruby."
"Pray tell, what are your intentions with her?"
Jaune turned to the source of the grizzled voice behind him. To Yang, the two were similar in height, but to Jaune, the pale man towered over him. His muscles bulged as cold, tired eyes flared with a heat of a dozen or so fires. Leather creaked as the man flexed his fingers.
"Uh, I was wondering, uh, if she knew when the next leadership course, uh, was."
"And you intend to use my daughter as your personal time table?"
"No! No!" Jaune waved his hands. "I, uh, was just-"
"It's cool, Kratos." Yang patted Jaune's shoulder. "Vomit Boy may seem like a big, scary guy, but... well, to me, he doesn't, and that's because he isn't."
"Please don't introduce me like that." Jaune groaned.
"Mm." The man nodded, looking Jaune up and down. "Very well. May I come in?" Yang pulled Jaune aside and let Kratos enter. Inside, he turned to Jaune. "Excuse me, Mr. Boy. I held no intention to harm you."
"Uh, actually, my name is Jaune. Jaune Arc."
"Kratos."
"Huh?"
"I am Kratos Rose."
"Oh!" Jaune said in surprise. "So you're Ruby's-"
"DAD!"
A flurry of petals scattered everywhere as Ruby tackled the massive figure in a hug. The man did nothing to stop this, nor did he move from where he stood. He slowly brought his arms around the much, much smaller girl holding him.
"I missed you, Dad."
"And I you." Kratos softly rumbled. He then lifted his head. "Your hands are wet."
"Ack!" Ruby let go and wiped her hands on her skirt. "Sorry, sorry! I was cleaning and then I had to wash my hands, and then-"
"Enough." He placed his massive hand on her shoulder. "Breathe. Becalm yourself. This is how a hunter must be."
Ruby took a deep breath. Inhale. Exhale. Slowly, steadily.
"Are you better?"
"Yes, Dad."
"Mm."
"So, uh, let me introduce you to my friends!"
"Mm. So you are aware, I have already met Jaune."
"Jaune?" Ruby looked over and saw him. "What are you doing here?"
"Uh," Jaune scratched his head, "I was seeing if you knew when the next leadership course was."
"Oh." Ruby blinked, then gulped. "I-I was hoping you knew."
"Oh." Jaune paled.
An awkward silence hung in the air. The two leaders stared at one another, unsure of where to go from here. It seemed Jaune had provided an interesting distraction for Ruby.
"So..." Yang grabbed Weiss, "this is Ruby's partner, Weiss."
"H-Hey!"
