A Miguel O’Hara x OC series - link on AO3 (X)
Chapter 4: Society - previous chapter (X)
Pairing: Miguel O’Hara x Female OC
Words: 2.9K+
Rating: G - No warnings here! A side for one more barf at the beginning.
Summary: Peter B. gives Lisa a tour of the Spider-Society before Miguel debriefs her regarding the situation with her universe.
/////////
I ended up barfing three more times in the last hour. My throat was burning from the acid that was left over, and it pulsed every time I took a deep breath to calm myself. By then, Miguel decided he’d prepare something for me to help further explain why I was in another dimension.
“That bracelet will help you keep from glitching during your time here,” He explained briefly before turning to leave. “Peter will escort you to my lab once you’re well enough to move around,”
Before I could even get a question out, he was already gone. Both him and Peter had briefly explained the Spider-Society to me. An elite task force of multiple other Spider-People from other dimensions. I had asked Peter how many Spider-Men and Women there were in the multiverse. He said there were too many to count, but that didn’t stop him from trying.
“Let’s see, that I know of, we got Me, Peter Parker, Peter C. Parker, Scarlet Spider, Spider-Punk, Spider-Ham, Spider-Noir, Jessica Drew, Spider-Woman, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Girl, Cyborg-Spider, Spider-Cat–”
I became immediately overwhelmed as he continued to list the names of all of the Spider-People he appeared to know at the top of his hand. There was a bubbling sensation in my stomach. That was when I barfed the third time.
“Oh geez, sorry!” Peter B. cringed at the display as he gently used his washcloth to clean my mouth. “I guess I’ll leave the rest of the explaining to Miguel,”
Spider-Doc checked my vitals once more before putting me through some physical exercises to make sure I could stand and walk on my own. When he was satisfied, he cleared me from his office.
“Alright, you’re good to go!” He proclaimed as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a Spider-Man themed lollipop.
“Thanks, Doc,” I took the treat in my hand, hesitating briefly before taking off the wrapper and putting it in my mouth. I was pleasantly surprised that it was strawberry flavored.
“Now from what it looks like to me, you’ve made it through the worst of the transformation side-effects. You’ll just feel a little sore and now with your throat, a little rough to speak for a while,” The Doc explained as I sucked on the candy.
“Transformation. . . meaning I’ll have Spider-Powers now?” I asked him with a curious gaze.
“Most likely,” He nodded. “it’s how pretty much all of us got our powers, with a few exceptions,”
Me? Spider-Powers? Maybe it was the rush of adrenaline when I fully processed it, but my brain immediately went to that scene in Hannah Montana where Jackson was complaining about working in the basement of their house, having gotten bitten by a few spiders and was anticipating getting “Spidey Powers” as he called it before doing the web sling gestures with his hands and making the sound effects.
Peter B. placed a gentle hand on my shoulder. “Easy now, don’t want you fainting on us again, or barfing for that matter,”
“Sorry I zoned out there,” I rubbed the back of my neck in embarrassment as I popped the lollipop out of my mouth. “Everything is just so–”
“A lot?” Peter finished the sentence for me. “Well, it’s only going to get a lot more from there,” He chuckled, snorting at his joke.
I gave him a perplexed look before he immediately shook his head, waving it off. “Okay, that was awful, I’m sorry,”
“Hey, an effort was made,” I reassured him as my expression turned sympathetic.
“So, this is only a tiny taste of what the rest of HQ looks like. We’ll stop by the food court and get you some food before meeting up with Miguel,” He explained as he motioned for me to follow him outside. “Come on, I’ll give you the grand tour!”
I watched as he walked forward, the automatic doors opening as he stepped through and I could see the brisk white and red hallways. Taking a deep breath to compose myself, I cautiously followed him, raising my hand to shield my eyes from the bright lights of the room as we entered the main hall.
What I saw made my jaw drop, my lollipop falling out of my mouth. The main hall was a giant room with walkways and pillars, allowing Spider-People to swing, crawl, and walk pretty much anywhere. I saw a Spider-Cop directing traffic, a Spider-Woman walking her Spider-Dog, I was so entranced by it all I almost didn’t notice a Spider-Janitor web shooting my lollipop from the ground and straight into a garbage shoot.
“This is insane,” I gasped as I craned my neck to take in absolutely everything I could.
“Come on, the food court is this way,” Peter tugged me along gently as I followed him down the hall.
He was kind enough to show me the normal route without needing to swing webs or wall crawl, taking a longer route. As we walked, it was hard to not notice all the stares and whispers from the other Spider-People around us. I hunched my shoulders as I tried to hide my face, shuffling closer towards Peter B.
“I take it this doesn’t happen every day?” I asked him.
“It has been a while since we got a new recruit to the team,” Peter B. answered as we walked, waving to some other Peter Parkers. “It’s definitely surprising seeing someone from your universe here,”
I remembered in between my barf sessions, Miguel had mentioned that the dimension where I’m apparently from, Earth-1218 is one of if not the purest dimension in the multiverse. Superheroes aren’t supposed to exist in our world other than as fictional entities.
I wanted to ask him further questions, but still feeling embarrassed about him seeing me so vulnerable, I didn’t pry on it. In that moment, I felt he was being patient with me, whether his intention was true or I was making things more difficult. But there wasn’t anything mistaking the sympathetic look in his eyes as he talked to me.
If everything about my dimension is true, does he blame himself for what happened?
Peter B. and I arrived at the cafeteria. He treated me to a Spider-Man 2099 decorative cheeseburger, fries, and a soft drink. I couldn’t help but smirk at all the themed items. So far this was becoming the most pleasant part of all this madness. The food did smell pretty good. Peter ordered the food to go so we wouldn’t keep Miguel waiting too long.
I unwrapped the paper from the burger and took a bite out of it. It tasted pretty good too.
“Like it?” Peter B. asked and smiled when I nodded passionately. “That’s good, that’s good. They’re some of my personal favourites to chow down here, but my favourite burger I’ve eaten is over in another buddy of mine’s dimension,”
“Another Parker?” I asked him as I ate and walked alongside him.
“No, no, Miles Morales,” Peter corrected with a soft smile. “He’s a really good kid. He’s been the Spider-Man of his dimension for a while now,”
“Is he a member of the Spider-Society too?” I asked, smiling at the man. It looked like he cared for Miles quite deeply.
I saw the look in Peter’s eyes as he paused, almost hesitating in his response before speaking, “Actually, no, he’s not. That part is a little complicated,” He suddenly became uncomfortable at the subject, his expression hanging low.
I dropped the French fry I was about to eat back into the bag as I placed a hand on his shoulder. “I’m sorry, was I not supposed to–?”
“No, no, it’s okay, no harm done,” Peter B. reassured me as we came upon a large set of doors. “It’s just been a while since I’ve last seen him. I miss him. He’s still learning the ropes and stuff so he just needs a little more experience is all,”
Passing through the doors, we left the bright main hall of the Society and entered a dark, almost gritty hallway. The room was just light enough allowing us to walk across without bumping into any computer consoles or metal beams that held the room together.
“Ah, there you are!” A female voice spoke up as a small digital figure appeared from thin air. “Perfect timing, Jessica and Gwen are here too!”
I jumped seeing the hologram, clutching my bag of food closer to my chest. “What the?!”
“Whoops! Sorry about that, didn’t mean to scare you,” She apologized with a snicker. “I like a good jump scare, I can’t help myself,”
“Lisa, this is Lyla, Miguel’s personal AI. She helps manage and run things here in the Society and monitors the multiverse. Lyla, this is–” Peter B. introduced me to her before Lyla zoomed in on my face.
“Lisa from Earth-1218! I’ve been dying to meet you! Wait, I need to document this historic moment,” Lyla brought out her own virtual phone as she turned the camera to face us as she snuggled in close. “Selfie!”
The camera snapped, capturing a picture of the two of us.
“Lyla, is that you over there?” A familiar tenor voice called out.
“Oh, that’s the boss, shouldn’t keep him waiting. Don’t be shy now, he may look intimidating, but he’s harmless deep down,” Lyla winked over at me before flying off forward. “Yep! They’re here, Miguel, I’m bringing them to you!”
Peter B. motioned his hand out, gesturing me to go first. I followed Lyla’s lead as she flew and zipped about the hall. We turned a corner and my lips parted open slightly as I took in the towering platform above us.
It was littered with holographic screens and computer consoles and mixed in with it all as Miguel. I watched curiously as he reached over, grabbing some sort of injection device, attaching a green vial. He lifted it to his shoulder where part of his suit dematerialized, showing off some of his skin as he used the device to inject the serum from the vial inside of him. As he turned around, I saw the iris of his eyes change from a glowing red to a calm brown and our eyes met.
I stopped, initially caught off guard by the gesture. Like I was a little kid getting caught by their parents doing something I wasn’t supposed to be doing. My cheeks flushed slightly as I averted my gaze, not meaning to stare longer than I did. It didn’t help that I could feel his gaze still lingering on me.
“Now that everyone is here,” A new voice caught my attention as I looked over towards Jessica Drew. Her dark hair was puffed out in a perfect afro with yellow glasses and matching hoop earring. She wore a red suit and belt around her waist that highlighted her pregnant belly. “Shall we get started?”
“Yeah, sorry about the wait,” Peter B. apologized as he stepped forward, looking up towards Miguel. “I got her some food, I figured she’d be hungry after, ya know. . .”
Miguel watched him briefly before using his red glowing web slinger to swing down from the platform, joining us all on the ground floor as he stood between Jessica and who I quickly assumed was Gwen. “Are you feeling any better?”
I nodded gently. “Yes,”
“Good then,” he nodded back. “Let’s not waste anymore time,”
Lyla appeared beside him as she did a gesture with her arms and suddenly white lines pulsed on the floor like a rain drop causing a ripple effect in a pond. A pure white light tree grew from the floor below us, its branches growing larger and stretching about the room until their structure and design resembled a spiderweb. Multiple webs in fact.
“This is. . . everything. All the dimensions and universes of Spider-Man connected into one giant web. They each go through canon events that push their universe’s story forward,” Miguel began as he reached his hand out and dragged the hologram along, showing us a specific web. “This is Earth-1218. Your dimension,”
I stepped closer towards the hologram. It was strangely beautiful to look at. While the other webs were highlighted in red, mine was coloured in blue.
“Your dimensions laws of physics and nature are so pure, that the very concept of a superhuman existing is out of the question. The science is not there,” Miguel went on as he slowly stalked around the hologram and came to my side.
“What about the Spider that bit me? Did it come from another dimension?” I asked.
The very question brought the memory of the Doc Ock fight back into Miguel’s mind as he replayed the moment of tossing him towards the Spider containment over and over again. He sighed, seeming tired and defeated. “Yes. Inter-dimensional travel is extremely dangerous unless you have the right tools. The spider slipped into your dimension, and when it bit you, it caused your universe to experience unplanned canon event,”
He used his hands to zoom in on the web and upon closer inspection I saw that some of the blue lines were pulsing with white light. Like a spark of electricity. “What is it doing?” I looked over towards Miguel with a look of concern in my face. “Is my universe in danger because of this?”
“Your universe appears to be trying to repair itself. If Peter and I didn’t find you when we did, more damage could have been done. Your universe is deciding whether or not it will accept a real Spider-Woman. Not just from your stories. If it doesn’t, the effects could be irreversible,” Miguel responded with a grim look.
“What about. .  if I will become Spider-Woman or not?” I asked with uncertainty.
Miguel looked at me for a hard second before web shooting my empty food bag and tossing it into the garbage shoot. I still had some fries left too!
Miguel raised a cocky brow at me as he placed his hands on his hips. “There never was a Spider-Woman in Earth-1218, and there never will be,”
“But Miguel,” Gwen’s voice perked up as she stepped forward. “She’s going to have powers now, right? She can’t just not use them, can’t she?”
“Gwen,” Miguel’s voice hung low as he shot her cautious glance. “Unless she wants her universe to not exist anymore, she doesn’t have a choice in that,”
“But what if something happens that’s out of her control and they activate?” Jessica asked. “She’d be vulnerable,”
“Out of the question. She can’t be Spider-Woman,” Miguel stated firmly.
I coughed loudly into my first, gaining everyone’s attention. “May I say something,” I looked up towards Miguel. “Please?”
Surprised by my sudden outburst, his iris pulsed red briefly before a curious expression showed on his face. “Very well,”
“If I can’t be Spider-Woman in my universe to preserve its existence, then fine, if it means protecting every life there. But what if I could still be Spider-Woman here?” I asked.
“I see, you’re on to something,” Peter B. smirked, nodding in approval.
“What is she talking about? Like joining us?” Jessica looked between us all.
My gaze returned to Miguel, my eyes pouring into his. “Train me. Let me practice here so I can better control these powers so they don’t accidental go off on me while I’m living my life,”
Miguel stared at me with a dumbfounded expression as he sighed, brushing his hand over his face and hair as he turned to the side, the gears in his head turning.
“I understand that preserving the Multiverse is very important to you, and I want to help you in any way I can,” I stated. “But without all of your guidance, I’ll be going in blind,”
Another sigh escaped Miguel’s puffed lips as his gaze glanced back towards me, sizing me up. “Lyla, ask Margo to construct a gizmo for Lisa, please,”
“Already did as soon as she came in,” Lyla winked.
“Gizmo?” I repeated with a bewildered smile.
“The Gizmo is a watch that will allow you to travel between other dimensions. In your case, between here and your dimension,” Gwen elaborated as she approached me, taking her mask off to reveal her side cut blonde hair with pink dye, eyebrow piercings, and navy blue eyes. “I’m Gwen, if that wasn’t obvious already,”
“Lisa,” I smiled as the two of us shook hands.
“The fate of the multiverse may depend on your cooperation to this plan of yours, Lisa,” Miguel lectured softly as he stepped closer towards me. “Do you swear to only use your powers within the vicinity of the HQ?”
His stern, intimidating stare sent a shiver down my spine as he towered over me. I sucked in a breath, gulping before I stood firm, nodding my head. “I swear,”
There was a hint of a smirk on Miguel’s face as he hummed before reaching a large hand out towards mine. “Then welcome to the Spider-Society,”
“You won’t regret this, Miguel, I’ll train hard,” I smiled as I shook his hand. His grip was firm, powerful compared to my smaller hand. I pulled back and silently cheered. “I’m ready to get started, the sooner the better!”
I fist bumped the air and felt a rush of energy course through my arm as something squirted out from my wrist. I looked up to see web fluid shoot out into the air. It hovered briefly before making a harsh descent, right into Miguel’s face.
The room was silent as everyone looked upon the display, eyes widened as Gwen tried to hold in her laughter. I gasped, covering my mouth with my hands. “I’m so sorry! That doesn’t count does it?”
With a quiet grumble under his breath, Miguel swiftly brushed the web fluid off his face, casting it aside as he shot me a tired glance. “Like you said; The sooner the better,”

Dinner Together
Fandom(s): Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Crossover: no
Summary: Noir’s friend Julia ends up Miles’ dimension with him and is afraid that none of them will get home, finding comfort in a lovestruck cartoon pig.
Character(s): Spider-Ham, Julia (OC)
Pairing(s): one-sided Ham/Julia
A/N: Okay, so these two started off as a one-sided ship not long after I saw Into the Spider-Verse for the first time. I just love them together. Originally written 01/09/19.
Warnings: none
Julia sighed heavily, shifting her position yet again. She was sitting on the floor in front of Aunt May's couch, her back resting against it as she looked down at the Rubik's Cube in her hand. Noir was asleep behind her, stretched out across the couch, taking up the whole thing. The monochrome woman slowly turned the cube in her hand, fascinated by the small colored squares. 'I wonder how many more colors there are' She thought, trying to fight back a yawn.
"Hey, doll"
Julia jumped, turning to see the small cartoon pig standing at the end of the couch. "oh, hello, Ham"
"You okay?"
"mm, I'm just fine," Julia said quietly, still slowly fiddling with the cube.
"You don't sound too fine to me. Look fine, hell yes. Sound fine, not quite" Ham smirked and Julia couldn't help but laugh quietly at his flirty remark. "ah, that's what I was looking for!"
"what's that?"
"A smile"
Julia shook her head. "you really are something, Ham"
"So I've been told" The small pig wrung his hands together, suddenly seeming a bit nervous. "hey, uh, I might have something that'll make you feel better"
"Oh? And what might that be?"
"I was hoping you'd ask" He eagerly held his hand out. "Follow me, milady!"
Julia set the Rubik's Cube on the end table, taking the small creature's hand in her own as she stood, having to hunch over a bit since he was so much shorter than her. She wondered what on earth he could have up his sleeve as he quietly led her toward the double doors leading out to Aunt May's back porch. "Ham, what exactly are you-?" Julia started, but she cut herself off when she saw the small round table that had two place settings, two soda cans sitting next to plates with two big slices of pizza each. Two lawn chairs were set up on either side of the table, Ham now standing just behind one, rubbing his arm.
"Uh, Aunt May had some leftover pizza, I-I was hungry, was kinda hoping you'd be hungry too, so maybe, since this is probably the...the last day we'll ever see each other...maybe you'd like to have dinner with me? Besides, it'll give me a chance to turn your frown upside down!"
Julia swallowed, overwhelmed by the gesture. "That sounds wonderful," She said softly. She hadn't eaten since earlier that afternoon and the pizza smelled amazing. "You really didn't have to do this"
"I know I didn't have to, I wanted to," Ham said, pulling out a chair for her. She smiled slightly as she took a seat, slowly picking up the napkin sitting beside her plate. "This is..." Her face scrunched up a bit as she stared intently at the napkin in her hand. "This is blue, right?"
"That's right," Ham said, quickly zipping around the table and plopping down in his chair. "How about this one?" He held up his napkin.
"Um..." She frowned, not recognizing the color at all. "I-I don't know...I don't think I've ever seen that one before"
"This is purple," Ham said.
"Purple" Julia said slowly. "It's beautiful"
"A beautiful color for a beautiful lady"
Julia giggled. "You always know just what to say, don't you"
"I'd like to think so"
The two of them ate their pizza mostly in silence for a few minutes. They ended up moving from the table and sitting on the edge of the porch, their plates in their laps and their soda cans beside them as they started in on their second slices. There really wasn't much of a view, except for the shed and the fence behind it. But they had a pretty good view of the starry night sky, something that they both found themselves lost in as they sat there. Ham was the one that finally broke the silence.
"So, Jules, you gonna tell me what was bugging you before?"
Julia hesitated, setting her now empty plate beside her. "I just...I can't help but worry about what might happen tomorrow..."
"You mean with that collider doohickey?"
"Yes. What if...what if we can't get home?"
"You can't stress yourself out about that, doll" Ham said turning to look up at her. "We're all gonna do whatever it takes to get home, I don't doubt that. And we'll all be together until the end"
"Yes, I know. I'm still..." Julia hesitated. "Scared"
"And there's nothing wrong with that. This is a pretty scary situation. I mean, I may be a goofball, but even I know there's a time to be serious and this is it. And hey" He shyly reached over and put his hand over hers, bright red over pale gray. "I won't let anything happen to you, Julia"
Their eyes met and the young woman couldn't help but smile. That bright smile that made the small animals' heart beat faster. "I won't let anything happen to you either," She said softly. The two sat in silence a moment longer, finishing off the rest of their sodas before she spoke up again. "You know, there's one thing I'd like you to do for me, while we have time. If you're okay with it, that is"
"Honey, for you, anything. Just name it" Ham said, no hesitation in his voice.
"I..." She paused, wondering if what she was about to say was overstepping her boundaries. "I'd like to see your face. I'd like to know what you truly look like before we part ways"
Ham was silent, his ears twitching slightly. Julia suddenly felt nervous, worried that she had upset him. She was about to apologize when the pig reached up and pushed his mask back, letting it fall behind him where it hung down like a hoodie. Two big, cartoonish, yellow eyes stared up at her, a light blush crossing Ham's pink face, his snout twitching nervously. "so, uh, this is...me"
"Wow" Julia quirked an eyebrow, smiling. "And here I was, thinking you couldn't be any more adorable"
Ham's face turned as red as his suit. "You know, uh, y-you're the first one I've ever revealed myself to...no one back home knows who I really am"
"Really?"
"Really"
Julia put a hand on his shoulder. "I'm honored that you have so much trust in me"
"'Course I do, doll"
The monochrome woman leaned down, pressing a kiss to his forehead. "I trust you too" She giggled as Ham stiffened, his eyes instantly forming into literal heart shapes, his body rising up and levitating off the ground a few inches as tiny hearts floated around his head. "Do you do that a lot?"
"No," Ham said dreamily. "No one's ever quite knocked my socks off the way you do, Julia"
She giggled, smiling down at him. The clock on the wall in the living room chimed, snapping the pig out of his love-struck daze. "It's getting late. We should try to get some sleep" Julia said. "We have a...a big day tomorrow"
"Yeah" Ham mumbled, frowning slightly. As much as he missed his dimension, he didn't want to think about going back just yet. He didn't want to think about leaving Julia.
The two of them cleaned up the table, quietly making their way into the house and to the kitchen, hoping they didn't wake anyone up. Julia fought back a yawn as she put their plates in the sink, running a hand through her hair. She couldn't remember the last time she'd been so tired and she couldn't wait to crawl into the air mattress in Aunt May's guest room and go to sleep. The older woman had been kind enough to let her, Ham, Noir, Peni, and Peter stay with her for the night. Noir was still asleep on the couch, Peter was up in this dimension's Peter's old room, Julia and Peni were sharing the guest room with Julia planning on sleeping on Aunt May's air mattress so Peni could have the bed, and Ham was thinking of sleeping on the floor in the living room with a blanket and some pillows. "Tired, doll?" He asked quietly when Julia yawned again.
"mm. Very tired" She mumbled, rubbing her eyes. "I hope I can actually get some sleep..." She suddenly looked very embarrassed.
"What? What is it?"
"Nothing. It's just..." Julia rubbed the back of her neck nervously. "It's just, back in my dimension...I have an old stuffed horse that I've slept with since I was a little girl. I know it's silly, but even after all these years, it's...it's hard for me to sleep without him..." Her cheeks turned a dark shade of gray, which Ham took to mean she was blushing.
"Ah, that's nothing to be embarrassed about," Ham said.
"You don't think so?"
"Not at all" He yawned, stretching. "Well, goodnight, Julia. I hope you get some sleep tonight"
"Mm, me too. Goodnight" Julia said softly, smiling at him before she made her way upstairs. She slowly opened the guest room door. Peni was already in the bed asleep, SP/DR propped up at the end of the bed like a loyal dog, powered down for the night. The air mattress was inflated and ready to go on the floor beside the bed, a pillow and a few blankets lying on top of it. 'Here's hoping I can sleep' Julia thought, sighing as she quietly made her way over to the mattress, trying to be as quiet as possible as she fluffed up the pillow and rearranged the blankets. She flopped down tiredly, yawning as she pulled the blankets up over herself, taking off her glasses and tucking them beneath her pillow, figuring they'd be safe there for the night. She moved onto her side and closed her eyes, trying her best to relax. Two minutes went by and she didn't feel very relaxed, even though she was exhausted. All she wanted to do was get some sleep, especially since she and the others had such a big day ahead of them. But no matter what position she got in, she could not get comfortable. "This is going to be a long night" She whispered to herself, sighing heavily. Just as she was about to get up, the sound of the door slowly creaking open caught her attention. She sat up quickly, her senses on high alert.
"Julia?"
The monochrome woman sighed with relief at the sight of the small pig. "Ham, you startled me"
"Sorry, doll" He whispered. "Just wanted to check on you"
A small smile tugged at her lips. "That's very sweet"
"You look exhausted. Trouble falling asleep?"
"Yes," Julia sighed, running a hand through her hair. "I'm so ridiculous, I'm a grown woman, I shouldn't need a stuffed animal to help me sleep. I'm such a fool"
"Nah, of course, you're not," Ham said. "I'm having a hard time sleeping, myself. Being in another dimension, away from home...it's a lot to deal with"
"It is indeed"
Ham rubbed his arm nervously, chucking a little. "You know, I-I just got the craziest idea..."
"Oh?"
"Yeah...I'm no stuffed animal, but, uh, I'd be a hell of a good substitute, you know, if you're interested..."
Julia blinked, giggling quietly. "Is that right?"
"I-I can just go, I mean, if you'd rather not..." Ham said quickly, clearly embarrassed that he'd even made the suggestion.
"Just get over here, you," Julia said. Ham didn't need to be told twice. He was beside the air mattress in a matter of seconds and Julia slid over a bit, pulling back the blankets for him. He slid in beside her, sighing as she put her arm around him, making sure they both had enough room on the pillow. "Comfortable?"
"Um, y-yeah" He mumbled, his ear twitching. "I'm good"
Julia smiled, kissing the top of his head. "Goodnight" She whispered.
Ham swallowed nervously, his heart beating faster as his eyes once again took on the form of heart shapes. "G-Goodnight, Julia". He slowly tucked his head beneath her chin, snuggling against her. The two of them started to relax after only a few moments and it wasn't long before they were drifting off to sleep. Turns out Ham was right.
He was no stuffed animal, but he made one hell of a substitute.

My End and My Beginning
This was written as my first collab piece as well as my first MHA fic! The collab is Afterlife, so please check out other amazing works here: Afterlife Collab Masterlist
I know that many people don’t like when writers put their OCs in because they want to place themselves in the scenario. However there’s a particular flow I wanted to share that required my OC to be part of the story. For this tale, please take note that my OC’s quirk is Hallucination, and I have included descriptors of attacks and weaponry that I have come up with for my OC. However, I intentionally left in “Y/N”, they/them pronouns and other descriptors for readers to add in so as to not completely ruin the story for Kirishima x reader.
***TRIGGER WARNING***
Mentions & Implications: Death
Smoke stung Kirishima’s eyes as he squinted to see where the attackers ran. Explosions, and varying colors of green and yellow electrified the skies as he heard his friends yell out their attacks. He pressed on, focused on finding the enemies that destroyed the city block. Amidst the yells for help and battle cries, he ran until he cornered his prey. Sharp shark-like teeth gleamed in his grin as his bulky shadow covered the wall of the alley. The man before Kirishima showed no fear as he grew, his body quickly covering with coarse, dense fur while a long tail grew. The head of the man transformed into that of a wolf and a loud howl pierced the darkness. The man growled at Kirishima exposing sharp fangs of his own before crouching into a fighting stance, ready to take on the unbreakable hero.
The two hulking men charged at each other and collided in a cacophony of thuds, growls and struggled grunts. Red Riot bulldozed the wolfman against the building, the hardening of his body keeping the snapping jowls of the other at bay. Back and forth, the battle of the braun went, both men clearly exhausted though neither would give up. “Why won’t you quit already?!” Kirishima grunted through his jagged teeth. The two pushed against each other; teeth, spit, sweat and determination fueled the duel until the wolfman jumped back from Kirishima with a yelp. His bloodshot eyes bulged as his paws swiped frantically at his fur. Yelps turned into terrified screams as his quirk dissolved and revealed the flesh of the man. Nails scraped and slashed at his skin, trying to remove whatever illusion he saw on his body. Kirishima turned his head to the darkness of the alley just as a shadow darker than black stepped forward.
A hood was pulled back to reveal a seemingly floating head, E/C eyes smiled at the red-haired hero. “I thought you could use some help, Red Riot. You good?” Kirishima nodded while the panic-stricken werewolf thrashed on the ground in front of them. “He going to be ok?” The vantablack clad figure nodded. “Fur or no fur, he’s really afraid of ticks. Dynamight, Deku, and Chargebolt have the others rounded up. I’m going to do search and rescue. I’ll see you after!” A gloved hand gently cupped the rough edges of Kirishima’s face. A soft ‘I love you’ whispered at him before throwing the hood over their head and boots quickly carried the hero away. Red Riot chuckled before turning to the wailing villain and pulling him to his feet and dragged him to the waiting police cars. Seeing Y/N’s cape fluttering against the dirty yellowed building, he called out. “H/N! BE SAFE!” Y/N turned and lifted the hood of the cape to blow Kirishima a kiss before ducking into the darkened building, with only the echo of thumping boots along the floor to indicate they were there at all.
Inside the ruins was an eerie stillness. Removing the hood, Y/N shone the flashlight to watch for obstacles ahead. Faint cries lead Y/N to part of the building that was dangerously crumbling, and their voice reverberating through the exposed beams and concrete. “I’m here! I’m going to get you out, don’t worry! Everything’s going to be okay!” As Y/N sprinted onward, creaking and low rumbling throughout the rubble caused even more destabilization to the wreckage. Still, Y/N continued forward, determined to answer the pained cries of the innocent.
Tremors caused heroes and police to lose their footing and stumble as the section of a building tumbled down nearby. Chatter of the officers and stable survivors shook their heads and lamented their losses. Kirishima jogged up to his friends, patting his best friend on the back. “Great job today guys! Hey, where are Deku and H/N?” Bakugou turned around, his wild scarlet eyed friend glared at him with his lip upturned. “That damn nerd is over there talkin’ to the cops and Y/N went into that….oh shit. They were in the part of that building that collapsed. Fuck!” Kirishima’s face paled at his friend’s realization. Panic set in his eyes when he turned to see a haze of dust slowly rising into the air.
Y/N blinked to see the gray of a swirling fog. The atmosphere, not cold nor hot, but… different somehow, like the pressure had been released. “Hello? Eiji? Guys? Where is everyone? What is that light? Is it the way out?” They walked onward, steps echoing around the dizzying gray fog. The silence was deafening and why couldn’t Y/N remember what was happening before ending up in this place?
The rolling fog thinned, and Y/N found themselves in a familiar kitchen. The sizzling and popping sounds of meat in the skillet. Taking the handle in one hand and a spatula in the other, Y/N flipped the cooking ham. Mumbling voices heard in another direction. The TV was on in the other room. A brief glance showed a news blurb of a villain being taken down by H/N and Red Riot. Pulling a plate from a cabinet, food was plated and placed on the table, Kirishima already sitting and ready to eat. “Hey baby! That smells delicious! Thank you for the food!” He smiled up at his Pro Hero partner as Y/N reached out to cup his cheek only to find the image of home overtaken by the grayscale fog. Confusion on their face as they looked around and continued forward. Maybe that light in the distance was the way out. “I must’ve been hit with someone’s weird quirk. Eiji has to be on the other side of that place. Then we can get this straightened out.”
He took off toward the piles of rubble screaming their name. “H/N! Y/N!” The squad of friends followed, equally worried for the fate of their friend. The reverb of Kirishima’s bellows vibrated the breaking walls and bending beams, sending chunks of concrete tumbling around the large pro hero as he ran into the dark space to search for his love. His friends followed close behind until Dynamight held his arms out. “Get back, it’s collapsing! Riot, get back here! Eijirou!”
Fog wisped away and took Y/N to the one of the training areas at UA. Standing before them stood Kirishima, Hagakure, Midoriya, and Bakugou. Aizawa, Ectoplasm, and Gang Orca stood off to the side and watched the students get into battle stances. “Begin!” shouted Gang Orca, and the populated side of the stage rushed forward toward the single combatant. Y/N’s hood blew back as they cried, “Shrouded Sabers!” Two safely capped swords ejected from the void of their sleeves. Y/N gracefully danced around her classmates, the steel of the blades connecting with Bakugou’s gauntlets while their feet connected with the side of Midoriya’s face. “Warp refraction: Say Cheese!” The light bounced off of Hagakure effectively lighting up the training area. With quick thinking, Y/N pulled the hood over their head while reflecting the light from their sword back to her friend. A yell from Invisible Girl, and Y/N bounded backwards, their eyes peeking from the vantablack hood, and watching her classmates drop to the ground with shouts of panic. “Spiders! Get them off get them off get them off!” Hagakure screeched, while Midoriya cried, “No...no! Why?!” Explosions could be heard behind them, Y/N turned in enough time to reflect the light off of the swords into Bakugou’s eyes, causing him to veer over their head. “Ah, dammit Y/N! I’ll kill you!” Kirishima activated his hardening as a sword came down to connect with his shoulder. A hard grip to either arm and Y/N looked up to see a toothy grin just before being flipped over Kirishima’s head and thrown like a ragdoll onto the ground. Unable to sit up, the dust cleared to see the unbreakable hero straddling them and smiling. “Gotcha!” Y/N raised their hands up to hold Kirishima’s face when the scene faded into darkness.
“Y/N? Where are you?” Kirishima stumbled over debris, tripping over exposed pipes, ignoring the falling concrete from the shaking building. He ran the flashlight over the dark area, the light being enveloped into a void that caused him to gasp and run forward. “Y/N! I’m here baby. I’m here.” He removed the hood to see a mass of H/C hair sticky with sweat and blood covering eyes that were closed and holding a tranquil look of sleep. He cupped their warm face, tears streaming down his dirtied cheeks. He barely heard the voices of his friends when another assault of stone came crashing down.
Gray fog eventually gave way to gray walls of a hospital. Walking along the corridors, Y/N weaved around people, careful not to touch anyone. Hurried nurses heading to check on the multitudes of patients, and doctors on their way to various floors ready to save lives. Y/N wandered floor by floor, greeting and speaking to some they knew. Upon entering one floor, the void hero saw the backs of their friends’ heads before turning eyes to the door they waited near. Reading the red haired hero’s name, Y/N burst into the room, only to find Kirishima not in the bed. Taken aback and exiting the room, Y/N snuck from the prying eyes of their friends to seek out their love, finally finding him staring out a nearby window, drink in hand.
“Hey tall, red, and handsome.” Kirishima swiveled at the sound of a familiar voice, his face immediately lighting up the rest of the hall. He scooped up his partner and spun them into a tight hug, splattering his drink all over the floor. “Apparently you’re happy to see me!”
“Of course I’m happy to see my best babe! Don’t worry, I haven’t been waiting here for long. Just had a few bumps and scratches. They wanted to keep me for observation but I’m fine. Hey… you wanna sneak out of here? No one knows where I am!” A happy Kirishima beamed as he took another long drink from the can he held. Y/N held up a hand to cup his cheek and smiled at the contact. Bringing his face down for a kiss, Y/N shed a tear of joy, excited to be reunited once again.
The unbreakable hero held out his arm, delighted that Y/N threaded their small arm through his. Y/N laughed and nodded. “Let’s go home, big red. I’ll make dinner tonight.” Neither of them heard the panicked voices of their friends around the corner as nurses ran into Kirishima’s room with a crash cart.

The Flower Shop, part 3
Kingsman - Harry Hart x Fem!OC
Part 1; Part 2; Part 3;
Hey folks! Here’s the third installment of my series. I hope you enjoy it! We’re getting into it, finally. Also, I’ve just added another prompt list that you can find here, go give me some inspiration!
Word count: 1.7k
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
The camelias shivered in the evening wind. By their place on the windowsill, they overlooked the entire room, with its large bed, desk and the man sitting there.
Harry’s books and notebooks had all been lost when his house was bombed to the ground, so he’d had to start again. Over the course of the past few weeks, he had purchased several anthologies and was still looking for new publications on the subject of entomology.
He missed his old notebooks, relying entirely on the scribbled pages of the battered pad he’d used during his time away.
Harry rarely referred to his time as an amnesiac entomologist as anything else except his “time away.” He was still grappling with the strange sensation of having recovered his life but he wasn’t so sure now, after so many months wishing for freedom to go find his butterflies, which life he wanted to lead.
Kingsman had been his home for decades, ever since he’d left the army to become a secret agent. But before that? He’d been so invested in becoming an entomologist that it almost surrounded him in a shroud of wing dust for the rest of his career. His home was full of them; his head was full of them; and his heart was full of them.
None of his friends had ever understood his passion for the small insects. To be honest, Harry himself did not understand it fully.
His father had been very fond of gardening, and his mother never allowed him to squash any insects he found in his room. Even if it was the biggest spider in the world - at least to the eyes of a little boy - she would just pick it up in a tissue and let it free outside. He had always supposed his interest came from them. But now, looking back on how he had cleaved to his ephemeral friends, he wondered if the root for his interest did not run deeper.
Perhaps he was fascinated by their transience? The manner in which their sense of purpose carried them to their death? He envied that. The whole of the animal kingdom, except humans, seemed to have a purpose. Harry had lost his and didn’t know how to regain it.
Sighing, he turned off the nightstand lamp, plunging the room into darkness. Before falling asleep, he remembered his promise to Rebecca to come fix her garden shed. A small smile tugged at the corners of his lips. At least, he had that to look forward to tomorrow.
Monday ----, 9 a.m
The chime of the doorbell accompanied Harry’s entrance into the flower shop. At the end of a cold February month, the sight of so many blooms was a welcome start to his day.
“You’re an early riser!”
Rebecca stood at her cluttered counter, snipping twigs off small branches. Harry watched, strangely fascinated, as she arranged them in an elegant bouquet. She seemed to know just where to place them.
“It’s for a wedding,” she said, matter of factly. “Apparently, the bride is fond of forest weddings and decided to go for a woodland theme.”
“A forest wedding in February? Good luck to them.”
Her singsong laugh echoed through the shop.
“Yes, the groom seemed rather resigned, poor chap. Let me just finish with this one and then we can go look at the shed.”
Harry followed, calling after her, “I didn’t bring any tools, I hope you’ve got something I can work with?”
Rebecca popped her head out of the shed. “Come and have a look for yourself. It’s in quite a state, but it still stands. My dad was strangely proud of that.”
Harry fit his broad-shouldered frame inside the small shed as best he could without towering above her. Rebecca caught his eye as he attempted to squeeze himself in, chuckling slightly.
The shed was small, built out of wood that had begun rotting many years ago. Daylight filtered through cracks along the walls and dust shimmered in the air. In the corner, a box of tools, its bright red colour contrasting strangely with its surroundings, was waiting patiently for its next use. Rebecca had arranged a large pile of fresh wood and wooden panels next to it, probably to restore the cracked walls.
“It’s dismal, I know, but the roof is still in a really good state so i’d hate it to collapse entirely.”
Harry gently pushed against the walls. The wood cracked and moaned but it held. The problem was the rot, which had weakened the overall structure.
“I’m afraid if you want it to stand for any number of years, we have to tear it down completely first. The wood is rotting. Best to rebuild entirely.”
Rebecca nodded, biting her lips nervously.
“I don’t want to ask you to do that, I thought it just needed a few repairs. But tearing it down and rebuilding it is a job for my brother; he loves to demolish things to rebuild them.”
A small part of Harry’s heart - which he refused to acknowledge - rebelled at the idea.
“Nonsense, I said I’d help and I will. We will just need a lot more wood than that.”
Wednesday, some weeks later ----, 6 pm
Dropping by Rebecca’s shop had become part of Harry’s routine. Nearly everyday after work, he’d go in, buy a few flowers and go. Every weekend, he’d drop by and work on the shed. He was grateful for the distraction it provided and, slowly, began to acknowledge that Rebecca had wormed her way into his heart.
Harry Hart had never dared to think too much about love. The Kingsman code was explicit: no attachments, no weaknesses. Eggsy and, on occasion, Merlin, had expressed how incredibly stupid and bigoted the Gentleman Guide was but the former Arthur had been uncompromising.
Kingsman was slowly adapting and changing, especially after Poppy’s missile catastrophe. A new Arthur had yet to be found but under the capable supervision of the older agents, amongst which Harry and Merlin, the newer recruits were coming into their own. Kingsman was still not operating at full capacity, what with the HQ and the London shop in ruins, but it was getting there.
Exhausted, Harry shook out his umbrella outside the shop before coming in, tucking it neatly in a corner. It had been a long day: recruits to assess, Merlin to check on (he was adjusting to his wheelchair but threw a few dignified Scottish tantrums along the way) and paperwork to work through.
The smell of freshly cut flowers greeted him and, immediately, he felt better. March had brought an early spring and the blooms were peeking shyly from under their green little sprouts.
Harry heard a commotion in the back room and, nerves on alert, made his way slowly towards the garden. Carefully popping his head in, he saw Rebecca, on the ground, looking under the sofa and murmuring soft words of encouragement. Eventually, a small kitten emerged, sniffing her fingers curiously. He meowed a few times, noticing Harry by the door, and meowed even louder, asking for food.
“I believe this little lad is hungry.”
Rebecca gasped, nearly bumping her head on the sofa.
“Harry! You scared the living daylights out of me!”
He held his hands up, taking one step in, chuckling slightly.
“My apologies. You looked terribly busy.”
The shabby little cat, meanwhile, completely disinterested in the antics of those two humans, had made his way towards the kitchen, no doubt drawn to the smell of soup hanging in the air. One or two loud meows later, a large bowl full of ham and leftover meat had been placed for him by the table and he happily forgot all about everything else.
“I found him in the street this afternoon. It was cold and he was shivering and crying, so I brought him in. He wasn’t a fan of being carried somewhere new and he hid under that couch for a solid hour before you came in.”
“Well, he’s one lucky cat.”
Rebecca laughed softly and shook her head, her long curls bouncing around her forehead. Harry resisted the urge to tuck one behind her ear. Tying an apron around her waist, she made her way towards the stove to check on the soup.
Harry observed her, sleeves rolled up to reveal creamy skin, feet tapping lightly to no rhythm in particular, curls pinned up by a clip, out of the way. He felt his heart give a little tug and, unable to stop himself, took a few steps towards her.
She didn’t seem to notice, absorbed in diagnosing what exactly was missing from the soup. The warm smell of tomatoes made Harry’s mouth water. He could tell what was missing from that distance.
“Have you added basil?”
She looked up at him, noticing his closeness, and a pretty blush spread over her cheeks. She tasted one more spoonful before smiling broadly, dashing out of the door and back again. She came back with a shriek, shaking the droplets out of her hair. Harry couldn’t contain his smile.
Suddenly, as she was taking off her boots, a sparkling flash of blue caught Harry’s eye. Looking more closely, he froze. There were two blue butterflies, Adonis blues, flying around her head. One settled into the mass of pinned curls, the other kept looking for a perch.
Harry’s heart soared. how he had missed his butterflies! Their gentle movements mesmerized him and, unconsciously, he took a step forward. He didn’t notice the curious look Rebecca shot him when he reached up to touch one of the butterflies. She didn’t stop him, didn’t move, as if she knew something was happening that she couldn’t see.
Harry felt the flutter of the butterfly’s wings on his fingers and smiled. Rebecca had never seen him smile like that before. He had never smiled happily, always offered small, sad, smiles. She wondered what it was that made him so happy tonight.
The moment ended when their eyes met, Harry blushing furiously and taking a step back; Rebecca reaching up to touch her hair, her blush deeper than before.
“I’m sorry, I-”
“I’ve never seen you smile like that.”
Her tone was curious, not displeased. Harry couldn’t help but answer honestly:
“There were butterflies around your head. Blue ones. I’ve always loved blue butterflies.”
Rebecca frowned slightly. Butterflies? In this season? Surely that was impossible, and she would have seen them. Harry lowered his eyes to the ground, realizing how utterly mad that must have sounded. He was ready to take his leave when she said:
“I love blue butterflies too.”
