2023: What’s on the horizon for you?

Happy New Year, everyone! 🎆 Giving you all virtual high-fives and energetic hugs. I’ve been seeing in my timeline a lot that people are getting into their soft eras. I liked that so much, I picked out this set of purple-pink skies I captured that I initially had for a different pick-a-card topic. Makes you slow down and watch in awe.

Pile 1

2022 has been all about control and structure in your life. You've created a routine that enables you to complete your day-to-day tasks seamlessly. It could even be that you’ve perfected some kind of system for yourself. You’ve been handling things in a practical approach more than anything. Once you have set your mind to something, you don’t budge.

None of the knowledge you have absorbed has gone to waste. You’ve learned so much because of this dedication. “Bulletproof” came to mind. Any attempts to thwart your plans probably bounce off you, as if you’re made of steel. I have a feeling that there was a need for you to instill such discipline in your life, but at this point, you may have been taking these rules a little too seriously.

Seeing how you like to keep your feet planted on the ground, I believe you need to buckle up for a change, Pile 1. You may not be the type to shake things up from time to time, but there will be a lot of movement in your life this year. It may feel like a rug pulled from under your feet. There is an element of surprise. I feel that most of you may not like to hear that, and I apologize if it causes you distress.

You must know that this change is inevitable and it will manifest one way or another. Despite everything, though, I can see you riding it out. People who may have struggles that are similar to yours in the past will see how amazingly in touch you are with yourself now. What a balm to their soul. So much fearless exploration, and it’s like all those months flew by so fast. What a rich year it has been for you!

The world will see how you flourished and admire all the progress you’ve made. Bask in it as you deserve. I swear, this year has been all about the hustle for so many of you. If you felt like looking at Pile 1, its message has some similarities to this pile. Anyway, it goes without saying that you’ve been really getting that bread. Congratulations! In a fast-paced and competitive world where it’s hard enough to put one foot in front of the other, you got yourself out there with a discipline that wasn’t easy to cultivate, and you’re rewarded for it. Well done, Pile 4.

This year, it’s time for you to stop and take some time off to smell the roses. Go on a walk, eat something delicious that fills your stomach, and indulge in the luxuries you’ve set aside for so long. Create something with your hands that follows no criteria other than to please yourself. Relax! Relaaax. I say it like that because even though you’re fully entitled to this R & R, you still seem to be quite restless. Your guard is up as if you’re ready for some kind of combat. It’s like, you’re on your phone, waiting and mildly dreading the next thing to do even though it hasn’t come up yet, instead of clicking it shut and turning it face down.

Pile 4. You may have forgotten to live your life, but life hasn’t forgotten about you. You’re being called to freshen up and let your material pursuits and burdens take a rest for a while. Frolic into that imagination of yours and explore the more pleasurable side of your life. It doesn’t have to be extravagant. I bet you can get into the mundane and find the simple things that can make you smile, or remind you of the bigger picture. If it helps, you can still think of keeping your time of play and health in tiptop shape as a form of progress, too. Never mind if society tends to downplay it. Take it easy, Pile 4. You’ll thank yourself later.

Pile 5

The Devil (back of the deck), Strength, Queen of Pentacles, The Sun, The Emperor, Ace of Wands

2022 may have been one of the most nerve-wracking years of your life. I’ll go ahead and say that for some of you, it may have even been the worst. In several ways, you’ve felt trapped, empty, and powerless to change it. You may have been just waiting for it to drag along, putting your hopes into the new year. I’m so sorry to hear that, Pile 5. All you wanted was a little peace in so much chaos. For some, this year you came face-to-face with your demons.

You handled it with so much courage, Pile 5. I can see it shining from you like a ray of light. From the dark night and into the bright morning, you saw your vices illuminated before you and then gently, but firmly, held yourself accountable to them. Working with blockages isn’t an overnight thing. Still, as the Strength card depicts, you tamed that lion not with force, but with grace. It wasn’t easy at all, but you did it. You have no idea how much progress you made. I’m so, so proud of you.

If only I could properly convey the magnitude of blessings coming to you, Pile 5. Whatever it is, it’s gonna make you so happy. I’m telling you, the goods will be flowing and your aura’s gonna shine. “Money can't buy happiness?” Not for you, because this will surely open doors for you. For a few, it doesn’t have to be about finances, but a state of being grounded and surefooted enough to let your hair down. If you think it’s too good to be true, the cards clearly indicate a stability that will take its sweet time, but it will ultimately ease you into experiencing, more easily, a renewed life force. This pile is unbelievable. I only meant to pull three cards, but five fell and three of them are the big Major Arcana energies. Honestly so extra (and I mean it as a compliment). Going back. You’ll have the time of your life, but it doesn’t just stop there. You’ll be building such an enterprise for yourself, you will end up being the boss of something. I think that, when you’ve been revitalized, your visions and creative ideas will also be brought into the light. Promising action plans and strong executions. Hot damn, you’re on fire. You’ll probably surprise yourself a lot throughout this. Blaze that trail, Pile 5. Believe me, it’s happening.

Pile 6

2 of Cups (back of the deck), Queen of Wands, The Tower, The Magician

You’ve found love this 2022. Whether it’s a romance, a trustworthy friend, a promising partnership, or an activity that makes you happy to be alive, you gained genuine connection with someone or something this year. This came at the right moment, when you needed it most, and brought you out of the dumps. A balance of give-and-take that you rarely encounter in your life. Your synchronicity with one another is effortless.

You make quite the force to be reckoned with together. I see that this connection encourages you to come out of your shell. The presence of the other party (whether an individual or an activity) strengthens your will to make a reality out of your wishes. You find new and surprising ways to make use of your resources, and your manifestation skills are skyrocketing. The possibilities are infinite. You may feel unstoppable.

This connection is not without trials and tribulations, though. There’s something significant about change here– not just a simple, day-to-day change, but radical change. For an individual connection, it could be that you’ve never been with someone like them. You may be different from one another in terms of culture and race. For an activity, you could have bonded with a craft that your peers would have found unexpected– not necessarily taboo, but quite peculiar. I have to admit, I could sense all kinds of risks in this path, but make no mistake that there will be its share of rewards as well. Just always be discerning, Pile 6. I'm sorry if you've answered this before, but how can I meet my spirit guide or know who they are? I've met my sacred animal, the owl, but what about the actual spirit?

There are great guided meditations on Youtube for you to meet your guide. I would recommend any guided spirit guide meditation from The Honest Guys. (they have all kinds of wonderful meditations, including fantasy adventures). Here's one I think could work, A Gift From Your Guardian Spirit. Before you start this meditation, you can ask for your guide (one of them) to show themselves in this particular meditation.

There are no right or wrong ways to see guides or have guides. There are no right or wrong ways for the guides' physical appearance either. I've seen all kinds of guides teaching and mentoring people! I named my own spirit guide Ian after a comic character Ian Nottingham, because he looks exactly like that character. He's a big beefy guy with long black hair, black jeans and a black T-shirt. Their faces are similar, too.

We typically have multiple guides and they change depending what kind of mentoring, help and guidance we need. From my personal experience, we always have one human-like guide and one animal guide, who both will stay with us from birth to death. I call them a Family Guide and a Family Animal. Ian is my Family Guide.

Group 1

Your Spirit Guides truly love you. They feel deeply connected with you and feel like you are adept at receiving their signs/following their guidance. There’s something in your past you aren’t ready to let go of. You are clinging to this memory and it’s inhibiting your spiritual growth.

You actively communicate your thoughts/connect with Spirit and have an excitingly fresh energy. You offer guidance to others but often refuse to take those same words of wisdom when it comes to yourself.

There’s a lot of blockages here. You may feel listless or deeply wounded. Your Spirit Guides aren’t judging you for dwelling on these feelings and memories. The people around you don’t support you and there’s a feeling of isolation…almost like you’ve been forgotten. You may not even feel like your Spirit Guides care.

Know that they are ALWAYS watching you. They see your plight and try to infuse hope within you. They shield you and protect you as much as they can, but because the material world is how it is, there isn’t much they can do to defend you in a physical sense. I see a lot of you are stuck in this situation. There really doesn’t seem to be a way out for you at this time. You can’t see a future for yourself.

Your Spirit Guides want you to know you have the courage within yourself to find a safe path. You have fortitude, determination, and power. Your first step is to speak up. Find someone you can talk to. Get guidance. Rescue yourself via communication. Karma will come for the people who have harmed you. There is a way to move on.

Your Guides ask that you meditate, and reach out to them. They will offer your comfort in this madness. It’s easier for them to communicate with you when you are in a meditative state. The signs they send are often ignored because of the stresses and chaos of daily life. They are reaching out to you. Look for them.

Group 3

Karma is here for you. A past action has come back to bite you. Your guides think the punishment outweighs your “crime”. This karmic retribution is the result of multiple small mistakes that have snowballed.

This is a nasty wake up call, but it’s going to bring a change within yourself that may surprise you. Some characteristics you believe to be “weak” or frivolous are actually things you could be more in touch with. Don’t be afraid to look silly or to express your inner child. You will be more in tune with gentleness, warmth, grounding, and balance. The cosmic wave you are riding is colossal, but with time you’ll see why and how this event has shaped you for the better.

For those of you without a partner, this personality shift is going to magnetize a lover who appreciates every facet of your being.

“Why are you ignoring us?!” There’s an organized religion/background of skepticism you may be coming from, and there’s a hesitance to let that go. Some of you fear being judged or “punished” by your Spirit Guides. You don’t know what you’re stepping into should you acknowledge your guides. Half of you don’t even believe in Spirit Guides (why are you clicking this?! :P ).

However, you feel the inner calling. You on some level know there is divine guidance. But...instead of seeking guidance from your Spirit Guides…you fight them. You really don’t want to listen or connect because you’re scared of how they see you and what they may say.

Your Spirit guides want you to know they will always be gentle with you and speak softly. They want to have a bountiful friendship. Their goal is your goal. They are not here to determine your life path, but to help you on it.

They have nothing bad to say about you! They want to work with you to help you manifest the shifts you desire. Not sure if this applies to all of you, but there is this soft kitten energy here and it’s very playful and teasing. They get why you feel this way but find it really humorous. Crazy Aunt energy (if you know you know). They want you to laugh and play and be less serious. Finding a connection with your Spirit Guides will fundamentally change you in the best way. You’ll laugh more, and be truer to yourself. Don’t be scared of “the little furry creature” who wants to be your friend. (I’m dying laughing; your guide is hilarious)

You know all too well that the path to your heart’s desires is not a walk in the park. Lately you may feel like you are problem solving more than usual. Hurdles in every turn, one after another. The responsibilities you have to deal with are no joke.

You may have been retreating in your head as a way to cope in the middle of your work. I feel that you visualise a lot about what it looks like when you finally achieve your goals. Daydreaming of being relieved from all the load you’ve been carrying in your arms. Of being able to just sit down and relax. Of being surrounded by the golden aura of the fruits of your labor.

The universe sees your dedication and good intentions. It’s admirable that you’re persistent in honouring your commitments. For those of you who have been building momentum– those who are planning, focusing, learning, doing the work and are getting ready for more of it– if you haven’t felt that your manifestations are coming true, know that there is movement, no matter how small or invisible it seems. Keep going. The 9 of Cups tells me that the wish fulfilment is imminent. It’s your destiny.

For those of you who are struggling to come to terms with the burdensome nature of the process, the universe urges you to keep an open mind. Listen, I feel like your efforts are going to bring something groundbreaking here. It’s the product of all your hard work. If you’ve been expecting a certain result, you may get beyond what you’re expecting (in a good way). There’s an incredible surge of creativity and it may come in bursts, so seize the opportunity when that energy comes. If any recurring symbols or objects pop out to you, try to remember them; these signs may serve like a path toward this venture. You mind your business and like to be in your own space. You may even be laser-focused on whatever you’re working on right now. So single-minded and diligent. However, an energy or some energies seem to be trying to distract you. I would go as far as say that they’re disrupting your peace on purpose. It’s intentional, how they bring up conflict for you to stop doing what you’re doing and turn your attention to them.

They’re quite stubborn, honestly. They don’t have a problem sparking up an argument out of nowhere just for the sake of it. They won’t admit defeat, either. For a few of you, maybe, external energies aren’t the problem. You may have been tempted into distraction by yourself many times, or provoked to prove something that only sends you off-track. You may have made excuses for yourself.

You need to build up your resistance. Take it up a notch. I can tell you’ve already been persevering and– you may not like to hear this– but you need to persevere a bit more. It may help to pinpoint the root causing you to falter so you can stay ahead of the energies getting in your way. A lot of them would actually want to be in your place, but what’s yours is yours. I know you would rather keep to yourself and shut them away, but it can’t be helped, especially when they push you into a corner. Fight back with all your might, Pile 3.

Pile 4 (The World)

Cards: 9 of Swords, 8 of Pentacles, Knight of Pentacles

Your work ethic deserves recognition, Pile 4. The universe sees you nurturing your talents and accumulating experience of your craft. You’re quite dependable and unafraid to take on heavy work that others would have shied away from. You don’t let much stand in your way when you set your mind to it.

You seem to be exuding opposite energies when you’re working and when you’re resting, though. It’s like, when you’re about to sleep at night, probably alone in your room, you’re plagued by your personal anxieties. Intrusive thoughts about your deep fears may just spring from the darkness while you’re idle. When you’re out and about in the day, however, these thoughts take the backseat because you fill your hours with routine and all the tasks that can take up your time. You get busy.

These troubles may be an underlying motivation for you, i.e. you do your best to work hard to overcome the things that weigh you down. For most, though, I feel like always having your schedule packed becomes a guise for you not to address these issues properly. Yes, they come uninvited when you’re vulnerable, but you can start to actually tackle them with the energy of your waking life instead of sweeping them under the rug.

This is a different process for each of you, but I see the wonderful card of The World as one bright conclusion: you will be reconciling these parts of yourself. Wholeness. I can feel you will find this quite enlightening, by the way.

It’s okay to take the time to reflect and lower your defenses around yourself when you’re in your own safe space; just make sure you can prevent them from spiraling and ground yourself to reality. It’s okay to be a busy bee; just don’t neglect your health, especially the needs of your physical body. They can coexist. They can be connected without being detrimental to the other. Learning about this is a milestone and you’ll be very proud of yourself.

There’s someone in your mind that you idolize, a person or energy you want to be like. You can say that they are kind of like royalty in your eyes: established, abundant, dependable, admired. You may have made them your personal Goals. This may be someone you personally know that you have a relationship with or a public figure whose image you can see through social media or in a workplace.

A lot of the time I feel like you look at them and then you look at yourself in comparison. You may have been trying to pick their brain apart, or trying to find details in every little move or remark they make, either on a conscious or an unconscious level. If you’ve been a bit fixated on them in some way, you may notice that it hasn’t really been elevating you. Instead, it even seems to be slowing you down, feeding your impatience on yourself. For some of you that do not necessarily have a specific person in mind, it could be a certain financial status or a lifestyle that you’re hellbent on getting.

I feel that you need to take a step back, Pile 5, and consider that not everything may be as it seems. It’s natural not to see any flaws or imperfections from something we put on a pedestal. That is not to say that you should stop this admiration, but the grip that it has on you may indicate a deep seated reality about yourself that you need to confront, beyond the physical. Anyway, you will know about it soon. Your reflection will be made clear.

Hi! Are spirit guides closed? Or are they often use as tool to appropriate? Like, if your spirit guide is an animal, for example, is this truly can be or is an appropriation of natives spirit animal?

Having a spirit guide that is also an animal isn't appropriation by itself, no. It's appropriative when non-Native people try and use Native-specific terminology or otherwise try and link what they're doing to Native practice.

Pombagira by Kypris Aquarelas 🔱

Pombagiras are one kind of ancestors or spirit guides present in afrobrazilian religions like Umbanda and Candomblé. They represent and are the spirits of women, especially those who were persecuted and often forced to recede into the margins of society.

They are the strong wind that comes down the mountains, the ancestral spirits who own the crossroads, the pathways, queens of the souls, ladies of the night and magic.

Pombagiras are Ngangas, Pombagiras are Exú-Mulher! 🔱

As for the word "pombagira", also written as pombogira, bombojira, pombajira and in many other ways, it's probably a corruption of "Pambu Njila", one of the Nkise (deities) of the Bantu people (Congo/Angola) similar to the Orixá Exú. Pambu Njila is worshiped in Brazil in the Candomblé Angola as the deity of pathways and crossroads, he is the intermediary between human beings and the Minkise (deities). Over time, in Brazilian lands, these ancestral spirit guides gained the name Pombagiras, as they share the streets, paths, sexuality and crossroads as areas of activity with the Nkise Pambu Njila.

Pambu Njila é cultuado no Brasil no Candomblé de Angola como senhor dos caminhos e das encruzas, é o intermediário entre o ser humano e os Minkise (divindades). Com o passar do tempo, em terras brasileiras, esses espíritos-ancestrais-guias ganharam o nome de Pombagiras, já que compartilham com o Nkise as ruas, os caminhos, a sexualidade e as encruzilhadas como áreas de atuação.
