During the Visitation, John leapt in his mother's womb at the presence of the Messiah, which means that the very first person to whom he preached the good news of Christ's coming was his mother and that's so beautiful I kinda want to cry.

Today, on June 24th, we celebrate the Nativity of St. John the Baptist.
In this icon we see Elizabeth, who is pregnant with St. John the Baptist, greeting the Virgin Mary, who is pregnant with Jesus.
We also see St. John kneeling, venerating Christ, prophesying and worshiping the One True Lord from even inside the womb.

"You, child (John), will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways." (Luke 1:76)
Holy St. John the Forerunner of Christ, pray for us!

A Lord by any other Name.
___
JOKE-OGRAPHY:
In this cartoon a young Jesus visits John the Baptist, His cousin, and the two greet each other with much joy. They begin by shouting each other's names, then switch to parodying each other's names back and forth, coming up with a ridiculous list of aliases. Their mothers, St. Elizabeth and the Blessed Virgin Mary, just watch the naming convention being held before them.
