discovery 05x04 proves that tv shows CAN and SHOULD do filler episodes even in short seasons. the plot moved nowhere but the characters did and that's what it's about!!! and about stopping for a minute and being weird!!! now can everyone else do it please
Reading a early review of Disco season 5 and "it reveals the mystery early and isn't a season long mystery box" yes.... "it does more worldbuilding about the state of the universe in the future" YES... "it more organically incorporates the bridge crew" YES....
I really like that Synths are just part of the Star Trek universe now. Like, they're not major puzzle pieces in a mystery box; they're just a Type of Guy who turns up every so often.
I hope Rayner buys Reno that Vesper martini he owes her from the alt timeline. And probably make her go "sir, you know I'm a lesbian, right?" xD. But then they bond over being salty bitches. Reno can teach him how to be a better functioning salty bitch that isn't disliked by everyone.
I'm so exited about new season and... Soong-type android in Discovery? next to Paul and Hugh, seriously am I in star trek heaven now?? I could only dream about it. I hope soo much to see Fred again (and secretly hope they'll reanimate him yep)
Also Paul's doubts about *his own* legacy break my heart. Really, my dear? You have already created A LOT and still on your way. Can't wait for new episodes!
Modern Star Trek really has done a lot of picking at random plot-threads left over from TNG. Discovery has given us follow up on the Unification Movement and now the Progenitors; Picard has followed up on android rights, Hugh's Borg, Lore, Q, and (I guess) the Jean-Luc/Beverly romance; Lower Decks has followed up on the Exocomps, Pakleds, Tamarians, Crystalline Entities, D'Arsay, Ornarans, and Brekkians, as well as Sonia Gomez, Sito Jaxa, and Nick Locarno; and even Prodigy brought back the Outrageous Okona and Edward Jellico for a few scenes. I feel like it's by far their most popular well to draw from.
