Once they're out of Kamino, even in times of war, it becomes more and more common to hear about a clone finding their soulmates around the galaxy. Cody gets a good laugh when he hears through the grapevine about Fox – his batchmate who always huffed at other clones who romanticised the idea of exactly that – apparently running into someone with a matching mark in a caf place on Coruscant while on patrol.
That aching place in Cody's chest never really goes away but he learnt to ignore it a long time ago. It's especially easy to put aside when it's being silenced by Cody's quickened heartbeat when Obi-Wan sends him an encouraging smile or leans on Cody's shoulder when they're discussing strategies over one datapad.
Kamino training never covered what to do in case you fall in love with your Jedi.

Fic help
HI, I don’t know how well this is going to work but I’m FIC SEARCHING.
I’m looking for an Anakin Skywalker/Suitless Vader fic, soulmate I saw it awhile ago, so it might have been deleted. It’s one where the reader is a Jedi that gets kidnapped, and everyone has a soulmate depending on their eye colour, like the left eye is there own eye colour and their right one is their soulmates. Vader is her soulmate so he takes her out of the jail Cell, he slowly becomes more like Anakin and he turns back to the light side.
It’s always been o w of my favourites but I haven’t been able to find it. If someone knows the Author and/or the fic name if it still exists that would be great.
Thank you x

the “soulmates receive an imprint of each other’s scars” trope is so rife with potential for codywan i can’t stop thinking about it
like. obi-wan who immediately starts hiding the soulmark on his face with makeup because it’s a private thing for him, then when he actually meets cody he has no idea how to bring it up. cody doesn’t find out until months later when obi-wan is injured enough to require full submersion in a bacta tank and the makeup washes off
or. obi-wan who doesn’t particularly care about showing his soulmarks, but when he and cody meet for the first time cody is wearing his helmet. cody then internally freaks out, has no idea how to tell his general who he’s just met that he’s his soulmate, so he goes as long as he can without taking off his helmet in front of obi-wan. meanwhile the rest of the 212th obviously know who obi-wan’s soulmate is, and are torn between keeping cody’s secret and just ripping off cody’s bucket themselves
and then, of course, there’s the much more angsty version where you can feel all of your soulmate’s injuries as well…

Since I am obsessed with the red string of fate theory-
AU where Obi-Wan and Jango are dating. One day, since Obi-Wan was recently knighted, the council suggests he visits his birth family since he’s only had small contact with them since he was little, and it’s a practice they try to encourage.
Obviously Obi-Wan is all ‘oh great. A family reunion with all 7 of my siblings and 23 cousins and like seven aunts and uncles, this is gonna be great. At least they have sheep for me to cuddle’ and decides to go for it.
But since it’s gonna be chaos incarnate anyways. Let’s ask Jango if he wants to come with. It’s okay, because Stewjon is on the edge of Mando space so they’ll probably like his bf anyways.
Jango and Obi-Wan show up, they have a chaotic time with all the families, and Jango even thinks he should invite them all to Keldabe or maybe bring Jaster to meet them next time. Might as well become in laws. Obi-Wan, on the other hand, brought Shmi (who is flirting with one of his brothers lmaooo) and Anakin (who is being DOTED on by the fam) and so it’s all a big family now.
Anyways. One of those days Obi-Wan is pulled down to look through photo albums because that’s what families do.
And Obi-Wan stops on a photo that was taken a few months before he was sent to the Jedi temple. It’s a photo of a village fair they had that year, and he’s playing with some siblings while Mama and Daddy cook on the BBQ…
And in the background. Is a Mandalorian in full armor with an ad wearing their leathers. They look about nine or so.
Obi-Wan sees the pic and just fucking breaks down crying, because he hadn’t realized Jango was so cute as a kiddo, and that’s def Jaster Mereel, who hasn’t painted his armor a new colour in over twenty years, giving Jango an ice cream cone and looking so doting and loving on that ad it’s breaking all their hearts.
Anyways. They have copies made and hang it up everywhere they live and Jaster adores the picture. It’s sweet, and his boys look so happy.

Soulmark AU time:
Soulmarks didn't exist until Palpatine fucked up a Sith Magic Thing.
And now everyone's got them.
And everyone's got opinions on them.
Anakin got Padme (is it a name, a timer, a symbol, first words, colors at first touch, IDK) and he. Will not shut up about it.
@calika asked:
could be funny if there was a mix of different soulmark types. some people got words, some got colours, etc. anakin got multiple types but theyre all for padme (or rex, maybe? idk)
Anakin got Padme (Romo), Obi-Wan (Dad), Soka (Baby Sister), Rex (It's Complicated), and Palpatine (Destined Enemy, which is also a type)
Obi-Wan's got Maul... so they're all pretty sure that "enemy" is a soulmark type
Calika again:
obi-wan after learning that marks change after the person's death, looks at the maul mark still bright and full of verve: ............huh a bunch of jedi all with the palpatine 'enemy' mark huddling in a circle comparing notes, meanwhile anakin is theorising that 'enemy' is a misnomer for 'competition' or 'friendly rival at some point' 'master, there has to be a mistake! the chancellor is an important guy! he's involved in jedi business a lot this just means he's doing important work! people keep saying he's SKETCHY! master come back! master-'
I wonder how many people got Palpatine as their Enemy mark. More than he got, since he sees most of them as nonentities.
Anakin is experiencing Distress.
Obi-Wan suggests he not bring it up with Palpatine until the elderly man has recovered, after all he's been Feeling Poorly, must be that flu that's going around the Senate--
(Palpatine overdid it with the fucked up Sith Spell and is now throwing up every few hours)
Ventress gets Quinlan's name and decides to HUNT OUT THIS PERSON AND FIND OUT WHY THEY ARE IMPORTANT grr gr grrr
quinlan in a club somewhere squinting at the ventress soulmark under neon lighting. eh. he'll figure it out later
IDK when in the timeline this is happening. Anakin's brain is just "Padme" on repeat for a while, I think.

Shades of Blue
[Rex x Fem!Medic!reader. Soulmate AU, multiple kinds but Rex's happens to be colorblindness until your soulmate touches you. Warnings: Violence, Injury and Gore, Nonsexual Partial nudity, Angst. Inspired by @mandos-mind-trick series.]
Soulmates weren't rare by any means. In fact, Rex would even go as far as to say that it was more rare not to have a soulmate than to have one.
The numbers were a little different when it came to clones. Many didn't live long enough to meet a member of another species, let alone form a relationship with them.
Rex wasn't so lucky.
He had adapted well to his colorblindness, his batchmates covered for him until he learned to tell the subtle differences between shades of grey. He learned that the red wires in a droid popper were always the thicker wires, he learned that the stun power packs and the regular power packs for the training blasters were different weights.
After Kamino, he learned even more. Blue paint smelled slightly different than red. Poisonous plants usually had some sort of easily recognizable pattern, but always be careful with what you touch.
Joining the 501st was a bit of a culture shock. General Skywalker took a liking to him immediately and decided he didn't want another clone to be in charge, promoting him to Captain. Kamino had forbade he become a commander, despite the command training. The blond hair and the fact that he had a soulmate kept him from advancing, he would have stayed a trooper if it weren't for Skywalker.
He was sure he'd die a newly promoted captain when Skywalker found out about his soulmate. Skywalker just grinned.
"I remember waiting for my own colors, not that there was much to see on Tatooine." Was all he said, patting Rex on the shoulder and walking away, leaving Rex dumbfounded in his wake.
"Sir?" His voice was slightly more strangled than he would have liked, calling after Skywalker. Skywalker laughed, but disappeared around a corner.
Rex waited in fear for the demotion, the notice he was sent back to Kamino, anything to do with his defect. Instead, he found battle maps more clearly labeled, he found medical supplies color coded yes but with shapes to go with the colors now. Rex found the paint cans labeled with careful Aurabesh, in Skywalker's messy handwriting, each individual color and what they were used for. The reds and golds for the jedi starfighters. The blues of the battalion.
That was how Rex learned his armor was blue. He asked Skywalker about it, in the long missions in orbit or the days spent in hyperspace.
"What's Blue, general?" He asked, looking at the newly done Jaig eyes on his helmet. "That's our armor, right? Blue accents?"
"Yep." Skywalker was currently elbow deep in his starfighter, something he insisted was 'relaxing' but had Rex on standby in case he got stuck or something. "Blue, huh? Blue is... Blue is Family." Skywalker settled on eventually. "That's the color of Mine and Obi-Wan's lightsabers, and all of your brothers have blue armor, and you were trained by Alpha 17, who had blue armor too." The jedi grunted as he untangled a ball of wire from the engine.
"Family? I thought Red was what people used for family..." He traced the fresh cut talleys into the paint on his vambrace. One for every tactical droid they took out planetside.
"Red? Eh, I guess you could... Red is blood. Adrenaline. Fire is red. Passion. Dooku and the other sith have Red sabers. You're mandalorian, right? Or... kinda, Half mando?" Skywalker yanked a piece of frayed wire out of the messy ball.
"I... I speak the language, and know the culture intimately, but I have no clan to call my own." Rex supplied. "Red, on armor at least, is for honoring a parent or a family member."
"Yeah, I can see that... But blue is more alive than red. I don't know how to explain it. It's the color of most unpolluted skies. It's the color of water, and that's a rarity for so many people. Kamino is mostly blues and greys and blacks. On Tatooine, we fought for the color blue. Water was so precious in the desert. When I met my soulmate, she was wearing blue." Skywalker gets a goofy grin on his face.
"You kept your soulmate bond, sir?" Rex asked. Skywalker sat up out of the belly of the fighter.
"I did. We agreed it would be more beneficial to both parties to keep it. Pass me that wrench, would you?"
And that was the end of that conversation.
The next time Rex thought about his soulmate, he was meeting the natborn medic assigned to Torrent company to help take the load off of Kix and Coric so they could 'spend more time actually doing their job of fighting rather than running around trying to keep everyone else alive.'
Rex really disliked natborns sometimes. He was fully prepared to dislike you too. That is, until he actually met you.
"Captain Rex, right?" You asked, holding out a gloved hand to shake his as he gave you a once over, appreciating the light armor you were wearing and the utility belt full of equipment. Rex smiled as you gave your name.
"Glad to have you, Doc. You've already met Coric and his junior officer Kix?" Rex asked. You nodded.
"I'm all settled in and ready to go too, wherever you need me, Sir." You saluted sharply at him. "I'm really impressed with the organization levels here. Everything is labeled so neatly I forget I can't see the colors yet." Kix coughed awkwardly as he interjected himself into the conversation.
"As hard as Kaminoans tried, they couldn't find a way to remove soul-bonds from us clones. Not all of us have one, and like anyone else we have different ones, but a few of us are color-bound to our mate. Coric is one of them, and he doesn't let it slow him down at all. Neither does the captain here." Kix clarifies. Rex gave him a look. "What? She's not gonna tell anyone. Right?"
You paled, waving your hands for emphasis. "No! I would never want to get anyone in trouble. If... what's the word you use for us? If natborn officers can have them you should too. My lips are sealed, promise." You met each of their eyes and they both relaxed an almost imperceptible amount.
Rex gave you a slight smile. "Let's get you acquainted with the other men, shall we? You're assigned to my company and trust me, you're gonna have a heck of a time getting us in to the medbay."
You gave him a cheshire grin. "Is that a challenge, Captain?"
~~~
You got to work quickly, as the men prepped and drilled for planetside deployment to Christophsis, you were right there, training your body to hold more supplies, to get to wounded faster. Every extra second shaved off your mile run was a life saved, you told yourself. Every time you got out of a sim to see a faster time, you smiled.
Even Kix was impressed.
"You're working yourself to the bone, Doc. You're already here, what are you trying to prove?" He asks, handing you a water bottle as you finish a set in the weight room.
"Prove? I'm working side by side with genetic perfection. And somebody's gotta make sure y'all don't go and get yourself killed." You took the bottle and sipped at it slowly, sitting up. Kix just shrugged and continued to spot you while you worked.
After Christophsis, and later Teth, he said nothing more about it. His cheerful, joking manner was replaced by quiet competency and a determination to see as many brothers as he could to the end of the war.
You sat with him when Coric caught a blaster bolt in the neck, and there was nothing either of you could do. With a choking softness in his voice, he looked at you.
"How? How is he dead?" The words brought a fresh wave of pain.
"Internal decapitation. The bolt went right through his spinal column. He was dead before he hit the ground." You intoned into the heavy silence. Kix shook his head and sat back from where the two of you had been sitting side by side on the empty surgery table, already scrubbed of blood from the day's activities and ready to be packed up when Torrent was dispatched back to the Resolute tomorrow morning.
You frowned, confused, as Kix stripped off the upper part of his blacks and turned so you could see his back. You had seen him shirtless before, in passing glances. You knew about the soulmark scrawled between his shoulderblades, the words in beautiful cursive and splashed with several different hues from what you could tell. You had never bothered to look at the words, but you did now.
Kix, as in Coric's little brother Kix?
Your heart broke a little. "Kix... Kix look at me." You reached up and pressed a hand to either side of his face. Misty eyes, tired and lost and so utterly broken, stared up at you. "We have soulmate bonds for a reason, ok? You can't break the bond until you've met the person." You pulled him into a hug, letting him hide his face in your neck as he struggled to come to terms with his grief of losing a brother. "You'll meet them one day, Kix. I know it. It'll be alright. Coric met his soulmate a few months ago, do we have anything to give to her?"
Kix let himself have a few more moments of just being in the presence of another person who cared. Who understood.
"He had a necklace she had given him... and his gauntlets. I have both. Do you want to come with Rex and I when we give them to her?" Kix asked softly. You nodded, a pit forming in your stomach at the idea of the next shore leave. You and Coric were close, and had met his soulmate a handful of times last time you were on Coruscant.
"Yeah. Let me go grab some stuff, ok? Then we need to head to bed." You got up to leave the room right as a knock sounded on the door.
"Doc, Kix, you in there?" Rex's voice came from the hall as Kix hurriedly tugged on his shirt again.
"Yeah, we're here." You called as he stepped in.
"I'm sorry to interrupt I need casualty counts from the wounded after battle." The captain rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
"Oh. I have those." Kix left the room in a hurry, and as you caught a glimpse of his back, adorned with the republic symbol and making it very obvious the top of his blacks were on backwards. Rex may have been colorblind but he was stupid observant when he needed to be.
He often needed to be in a warzone.
"Doc." Rex nodded at you in greeting after Kix had left.
"Captain. Been a helluva day, hasn't it." You sit down again on the floor, leaning your head against the wall behind you. "We lost Coric. He met his soulmate not to long ago. We're looking for his personal stuff to give back to her."
Rex sighed softly. A ache all of them felt for their brother's soulmate but few brothers lived long enough to know first hand.
"What about you and Kix?" Rex asked, taking a seat next to you. His plastoid plates click as he settles himself on the ground. "Has your world-" He made a gesture to his eyes with his hands. You laughed bitterly.
"Me and Kix? That would make things a lot simpler wouldn't it. No. I... It's his story to share. His soulmate apparently knew Coric by name." Rex took a deep breath.
"Yeah, yeah that would make sense. I'm sorry I assumed." He shrugged a little in his armor.
You sighed. "You?" You asked, looking at him. Rex ran a gloved hand over his pale hair.
"No. I... No. It's not I go around grabbing people anyways." He laughed humorlessly.
"Maybe we'll get lucky one day, you and I." You said softly. "Find our person. The Maker... Force... Universe, whatever, wouldn't give us another half unless we'd meet them." You looked at him, tracing the monotone contours of his armor.
"Yeah? What if we end up like poor Coric?" Rex sighed. "You... you get it. Even for a natborn, you eat with us, sleep with us, you know us. We're... not made for long term use. I don't want to leave anyone behind."
You hummed, not really saying anything. The two of you sat in silence for a long moment before Rex hauled himself to his feet, offering you a hand. You clasped his hand, latex glove on the blacks that covered his palm.
"We're gonna need rest for tomorrow. It'll be an exhausting day."
You couldn't agree more.
~~~
You cradled Coric's helmet as Rex knocked on the door of Coric's girlfriend's door. You recognized her instantly when she opened it, a dark skinned twi'lek with pale tattoos.
"Uh.. Good evening, Sirs?" She asked, a tremble in her voice. You took your cue to step forward, presenting Coric's helmet.
"I'm so sorry, Ma'am. There was nothing we could do."
Her face crumpled as she took the helmet. "I... I know. I felt it." She whispered, a tear slipping down her cheek. Kix stepped forward too, placing a hand on her shoulder. She leaned into his touch.
"I'm so sorry Ma'am, I have his necklace and vambraces here for you too." Her head whipped up to look at Kix, tearstained and wide eyed. Rex nudged him.
"Kix..."
The Twi'lek shook her head, dropping Coric's helmet with a clatter. "Kix... as in Coric's little brother Kix?" She asked, barely waiting for Kix's stunned nod before she pulled him into a hug.
"I'm sorry about your brother." She whispered, and Kix just shook his head, a bitter laugh bubbling out of his throat.
"I'm sorry about your soulmate."
You put a hand on Rex's shoulder opposite of his pauldron. "C'mon, Captain, let me buy you a drink while they adjust to each other's presence." You murmured low enough for him to hear. Rex glanced back at the two, Kix now also in tears and not letting go of the poor girl, who was sobbing into his chestplate.
The two of you walked in thick silence, the 79's a few blocks down from Kix's soulmate's apartment. Rex stopped short at the entrance of the bar.
"I... I'm usually not one for clubbing. Too many people." He hedged. You gave him a reassuring smile.
"We'll just grab a seat in the back then?" You propose. Rex still looked hesitant, but nodded after a moment. You insisted on buying drinks since Rex hated spending his small stipend on something like alcohol. As you two waited, him watching the crowd and you sneaking glances at him.
He was beautiful, in the black and white shades that made up your reality. All the clones were, but he stood out to you. You flushed slightly as he caught you staring.
"What? Do I have something on my face?" He asked. You laughed and shook your head.
"I... you're gonna laugh." You said, looking at the table and tracing the grain with a finger tip.
"Did I do something stupid?" Rex asked, giving you a wry look. You snorted.
"No, no you haven't. You not the kind to make stupidity a habit. I was wondering what color your hair was." You blurted out. Rex groaned and rolled his eyes.
"Hey, I'm still the same stock as Fives, gotta make sure he's not rubbing off." He took a sip of his spotchka, mouth twisting slightly until the tang settled into a pleasant burn in his throat. "My hair is blond, according to Skywalker. A yellowish color. Everyone else's' is black or dark brown."
You took a drink yourself, coughing at the taste. "Ok, that is awful." Rex snorted.
"That's the point. Don't worry, I'll getcha back to the barracks." He promised, a fond smile flitting across his face.
"Going soft on me, Captain?" You asked.
"For you? The entire GAR is soft. You could probably get Fox to take a nap by batting your eyes." Rex chuckled. You swatted at his arm, hand bouncing off his armor.
"Hush. If rumors about you are true I'll be hauling you to the barracks rather than the other way around, lightweight."
Rex just took another drink to spite you.
~~~
The last place for healing that you would expect to take place is on the Battlefield, but here you are ducking and covering between the rounds of rocket mortars.
Explosions shook the ground, and everything hazed out around the edges as you in grey smoke and black soot. Dark blood stained your body and none of it was yours. You heard the shout Kix gave when it happened, but he was too busy to react.
"The Captain's down!" The roar went up among the men and you weren't one to hesitate, springing into action to cross the four hundred meters between you and the Captain. Rex was holding his side and gasping, frighteningly still. Blood, dark and thick as oil spilled from the gash on the left side of his chest in spurts.
You instantly were yelling orders, trying to get a perimeter set up around the two of you as you pried the captain's helmet off so he wasn't gasping through his respirator.
His breathing was ragged, his lips chapped and cracked, eyes hazy as your gloved hand brushed dust off his face.
"Stay with me, Rex. You're not allowed to die on me yet." You yelled above the din so he could hear. He gave you the barest hint of a nod, if not the the intensity in his eyes you would have thought it a spasm.
You pried his chestplate off, plackart coming with it as you inspected the damage. You couldn't tell if the piece of debris that had done this had punctured more than a lung, you felt up under his jaw for a pulse but there wasn't one you could surely feel with your gloves.
You yanked one off with your teeth, jamming it under his chin as you tried to get a read of what was going on with his heart.
Rex gasped under you, eyes going out of focus as you gritted your teeth and counted the beats to make sure he wasn't in danger of a puncture in his heart.
You kept pressure on the wound, wincing as his broken ribs creaked under your hands, red seeping out-
Oh.
Oh Kriff.
You laughed slightly hysterically as you gave him a stim to help with the bleeding and pain, spraying bacta over the wound. "You seeing this, Captain?" You asked. Rex's blood was vibrant across your hands, sending a painful twist through your stomach. The stripes, the blue stripes, in his armor was almost completely covered by golden-brown dirt and red blood and black soot. Even the greys and blacks looked more life-like, vibrant and real.
Rex's eyes held a dreamlike haze to them as an explosion, brilliant gold, flashed over head. He was drifting slightly in and out of consciousness as you worked, eyes wandering in silent wonder at this new reality. Red blood. Dusty armor. Gold fire. And high high above this messy battle was blue sky.
Blue.
It was the color of your armor, strong steady hands bandaging the wound and keeping pressure.
It was the color of his own shattered plating.
It was the color of the sky. Freedom
Rex could see now why Skywalker called blue Family. The two felt remarkably similar.
"ey-.... Hey!" You patted his cheek until his eyes fluttered open and tried to focus on you. He didn't remember closing them. "Hang on, Rex. Medevac is coming, we're getting you out of here and pulling a tactical retreat." You yelled, brushing some dust off his face. His eyes followed your blurry form, suddenly snapping into focus. You gave him a lopsided smile.
"There you are. Hang on, Cyare." The clone word of endearment fell from your lips so naturally. "You aren't leaving anybody behind yet." Rex tried to talk, his breath coming out in a raspy gasp. You shook your head. "Save your breath. Ok."
Rex managed a nod, fumbling with his right hand to grasp your arm, squeezing twice. You nod.
"I'll be there when you wake up, Captain. Promise." There was a roar above your heads and a LAAT/i dropped down right in front of you two, and you lunged to get a gurney prepped as blasterfire splashed around you. A clone Rex didn't recognize lifted him, careful not to disturb the bactapatching on his side.
He listened with half a mind to your chattering as your bare hand brushed his head, fingers playing over his gold, you told him, hair. Rex fought to keep his eyes open, trying to obey and stay awake until he felt the shift in his stomach that meant artificial gravity had kicked in and they were on the Resolute once more.
"Ok, Rex. You can sleep now. You're in the clear now." Your soft voice finally said, and he went out like a candle in the wind.
~~~
You paced the medbay, forcing yourself not to spend too much time gawking at the vibrancy of everything. You could do that properly when Rex was awake. Currently, Kix was taking him out of a bacta tank and he was set to wake up in a few minutes but those few minutes felt like hours.
Your head snapped around as Kix stepped out, fond exasperation written across his face.
“He’s been asking for you since I took the tube out of his throat.” Kix stepped aside and let you into the small room, then shut the door to give you some privacy.
Rex was watching the heart monitor in it’s different colors with rapt fascination until you made your presence known, leaning against the rails of his gurney.
“Hey.” You murmured, looking him over and deciding he looked much better when he wasn’t covered in blood and dirt. Deep bronze skin, amber-gold eyes and white-gold hair made for a stunning figure. “We… certainly danced around this for a while.”
He laughed, a hoarse, grating sound that still made you smile. His left hand fumbled a bit until you slipped yours in it. His thumb slipped back and forth across your knuckles.
“I had hoped.” Rex whispered. “Stupid armor.”
You laughed, swatting at his shoulder gently. “Your armor keeps you alive. So what if it caused a little delay. We’re together now.” You said the last phrase with some trepidation. Rex nodded instantly.
“We weren’t made to be apart, Mesh’la.” You squeezed his hand tightly at his words.
“Rex? I’m scared.” You whispered. Rex struggled to push himself up into a more proper sitting position, recently severed and healed muscles protesting. He waved away your concern and lowered the rail on the bed.
“Me too. I don’t want to give this up though.” He murmured. "How are we going to do this?" Rex looked at you and for a second you were lost in his eyes, admiring every little fractal of color.
"Like anything with uncertain terrain, one day at a time, Captain." You murmured.
"Rex." He corrected you. "Call me Rex. I want to be more than just a title to you."
You lifted your clasped hands and pressed a kiss to the back of his knuckles. "You've always been more than that." Rex looked at you like you had hung the hyperspace lanes just for him. "Rex, you're my other half. We'll be fine together."
"Promise?" He whispered, seeming to tire and letting himself slide against the pillows. You squeezed his hand tight.
"I promise. Go to sleep, Rex." You stood up, to leave him in peace but he caught your hand.
"Stay, Mesh'la." And you couldn't say no. You let go of his hand and had him scoot over, making sure you stayed on his uninjured side as you curled up next to him on the bunk, resting your head on his chest and listening to his slow, steady heartbeat. A heart that you had fought to keep beating. The medical bunks weren't made for two but you two made it work, slotting together like pieces of a puzzle.
Rex bent his head, and a feather light kiss brushed the top of yours. You didn't respond, but didn't pull away either. His exhausted body quickly succumbed to sleep. You weren't far behind. Two halves of a whole.

Merrical + soulmate au, please!!!
Jedi are easy to spot if they’re traveling alone.
That’s why they’re so easy to hunt.
Which is pretty inconvenient if you happen to be a Jedi.
Anyone non-Force sensitive has colorless eyes, unless they’re currently with their soulmate. That’s when their eyes gain color, and when the two are separated, only a sliver of their eyes remain vibrant.
Cal’s bright green eyes are basically a “kill me” sign slapped onto his face for everyone to see. Jedi are born with eyes filled with color. It’s their kyber crystals that’re said to change color when they find their person. Or, at least, that’s the rumor. It had gotten especially juicy when someone had spotted Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber glowing bright blue in a fight to save Senator Amidala, whose eyes had recently changed to hold a sliver of a suspiciously similar blue.
That’s why, when Cal’s lightsaber sprouts from its blade in a blaze of brilliant green, he can only stare. Its usual snow colored hue is nowhere to be seen.
“S-stand aside,” Cal stammers to her. His soulmate? This woman who’s glaring at her with murder in her eyes? Of all people?
“No,” she snaps firmly. “He was right about you.”
She clearly has no idea what this means. To be fair, it’s a secret only Jedi are supposed to know. But given by how many holodramas feature Jedi with brightly-colored sabers, it’s not a well-kept one. But Nightsisters don’t seem the type to sit around and watch holodramas.
“Who…what?” Cal asks, eyes flicking from his blade to the woman who changed its color.
“Jedi are thieves and selfish liars who bring nothing but death,” she spits out the words, venom pouring from her tone. She definitely doesn’t know what just happened.
“Back off,” Cal warns her, trying to instill steel into his voice. Jedi aren’t allowed to care about soulmates, anyway. It doesn’t matter. But the lightsaber in his hand that’s casting everything in a shade of lime begs to differ. “If you attack me again, I’ll strike you down.”
Would I? With this new development?
Cal honestly has no idea.
“Oh, I won’t do a thing,” the Nightsister replies, voice matter-of-fact and cold, the threat within them obvious. “But my murdered sisters…they will have their revenge.”
And sparks in the exact same shade of green, where they had been silver before, fly from her fingertips. An expression of confusion twists her face, and Cal has this crazy thought that maybe it’s similar to the one he had earlier.
She stares at her fingers for a moment, the green mist still dancing across them, her eyebrows drawn together incredulously. Then her head whips up, her eyes locking onto Cal’s. They’re full of shock and disbelief. “You…” her voice trails off. Her dark eyes narrow. “Wasn’t your lightsaber—“ she spits out the word— “colorless before?”
Cal nods, his suspicion actually gaining some traction. “Same with your magick, right?”
The look on her face answers that question. Then she shakes her head. “This changes nothing,” the Nightsister declares, tone sharp.
“…Are you sure?” Cal asks, doubt coloring his tone like she’s colored his lightsaber.
“I am sure,” she replies, fire returning to her expression and jade magick heading from her fingers to the hanging pods that Cal has a really bad feeling about. “You will pay for the deaths of my sisters.”
“I had nothing to do with that, you know!” Cal calls out, but she’s already disappeared, leaving behind an emerging zombie army.
“Well, this is romantic,” Cal mutters dryly, then jumps into battle.

Soul Marks
Feral: You notice the mark on your hip when you step out of the refresher one morning. Obscured by condensation on the mirror, at first you don't realize the hoop and arc looks like an eye. Something ancient, from one of the desert clans, maybe. It's smooth when you run your fingers over it, but too large to be a birthmark, the flourish too perfect. A data scan reveals that it's a sigil — a mark meant for protection against the Dathomirian gods of death. You don't know why it appeared, or how, but you know in your bones that if you want answers, they're waiting for you on that remote world in the Quelli sector.
Savage: Your training session was brutal, and laughing about the sheer amount of bacta patches the droid thrust at you, battered and bloodied by the work, you didn't notice at first as you patched yourself up that one mark would scar. Even after the bandages were removed, you couldn't make sense of the shifting pattern of flesh, nor the strange, green glow emanating from the numbers raised on your forearm. Nothing healed them. And every day, they changed — ticking down by one, as if counting down a date. Your death, you thought at first, terrified. And later, as the numbers turned to single digits, and you fled the city to the remotest world on the outer rim to hide out in the seediest cantina, the number vanishing as the door opened to dust and the darkness of a starless sky, you felt the shadow fall across you at last: silent, but certain as his gaze alighted on yours, and you knew how wrong you were: not your death, but your destiny.
Maul: Krayiss was never friendly to anyone who was not Sith. Neither of you wanted to be paired with a partner for the job, but expertise is hard to come by, and while he required a guide, you needed an adept. Six rotations in Maul's company never warmed him to conversation, but the scant handful of things you learned of him were intriguing: a lost history, a stolen future, a childhood spent in service to greater ambitions. "It is not my name by birth, either," he told you one gloomy Benduday in the shadow of the library, picking over your findings like the scrolls were treasure while he offered gold in that metered, silky murmur. Strange, how your first impulse was to touch the word at the base of your scalp, hidden beneath your hairline -- a finely scribed line of Paecean revealed by a poorly chosen haircut years before. The word was a name, certainly, but never one you recognized, though the feeling of knowing rang clearly for just a moment before he turned that burning gaze away. And maybe knowing never fades, though providence reveals itself in hidden things, in dark places, in strange company when we least expect it.

Lovers Mark | Kylo Ren RQ
Tumblr media
Kylo Ren x Reader Soul Mate AU. Cuteness. A bit of angst. No warnings just gonna be cuteness <3 Also it means a lot that I and other writers can make your life better and make you happier <3 I know it took a bit to get out and I do apologize but I hope you enjoy it, anon <3 It was my honor -Kitty  P.S Sorry for any mistakes!! <3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You’ve been working for the First Order for a couple of years now and have come to terms that you were partnerless. Everyone around you already had Soul Mates minus a few like General Hux, The Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, and a few of the Storm Troopers. You were the only one that Kylo trusted to work on his TIE Fighter and that is how you came to find out that he had no soul mate. You knew you had romantic feelings toward the dark-haired ruler but could not act upon them for the fear of many reasons. One being you were still on the look out for your better half and another being he was intimidating.  Kylo Ren was always known for his harshness. His deep voice booming as he gave orders and his mask only making them more terrifying as he gave them, his temper was quickly set off if things did not go his way. He was known to destroy equipment or take his anger out on Troopers, Officers, and General Hux. But your thoughts of the dark hearted Prince changed when you caught him training, covered in sweat and breathing heavily as he fought with some trainees. He was in a black undershirt and his normal black trousers with his boots. There it was. The same shaped mark that you bare on your right forearm just below the bend of your arm. You hurried out of the training room and felt as if your world came crashing down around you. You were hyperventilating as your heart hammered against your chest so hard you thought it might explode out of your ribcage. It wasn’t until about a few days later when you were working hard on repairs for Kylo’s TIE fighter that you hadn’t noticed him walking up to check on your progress and to see why you ran out so quickly until his dark eyes flicked to your jumpsuit sleeves rolled up revealing a mark that was slightly covered by the ebony fabric of your uniform. No... could it be? He thought to himself. When you notice him standing a few inches from you, you jumped and smacked your head hard against the hull of his fighter jet.  “Su-Supreme Leader!” You managed to squeak out as you quickly pulled your sleeves down and wiped the sweat off your brow. “A-All most done, si-.”  “That’s enough. My chambers. Now.” Kylo stated before turning and walking faster than intended to his quarters. There it was. The suffocating feeling. You couldn’t breath. Your throat felt like it was closing and filled with glass as you forced your shaky legs to walk toward his room. You couldn’t stop the tears from pouring from your eyes as you covered your mouth to muffle the sobs that escaped you. Your whole body was shaky so badly you weren’t entirely sure how you managed to arrive without passing out from anxiety.  As soon as the door opened with a woosh and Kylo’s eyes were on you again he stood, his ebony brows knitting together in confusion at your emotional state, His heart twisting at the thought of what could possibly be making you cry like this. When the doors closed behind you he rushed over to you making you flinch. You say Kylo’s jaw clench making you feel guilty at the fact that you were cowaring in fear in his presence. He tutted his tongue as he brought his large hands up to cup your face, his thumbs brushing your tears away as he tilted your head up until your eyes met his.  “Please don’t be scared of me. I know I can be tough to be around and I am not exactly the one you wish to see but I must ask.. Could I see your mark?”  “Please don’t be mad?” Kylo smiled softly at your words as his hands moved to the zipper of your jumpsuit and unzipped it to your waist belt and pushed the top half down and took your arm in his hand. His thumb running over the matching mark. A big smile spreading on his face as tears swelled up along the waterline of his eyes. “Why would I be when I finally found you? My soul mate... I-I thought I was going to be alone forever. I could never be mad at you. I was just curious about your mark is all.” Kylo let out a sob filled chuckle as he pulled you close, resting his chin on the top of your head as he hugged you tightly.  Your heart swelled and you felt like you were floating on air. Kylo Ren was showing you a different side to him and you were lucky enough to be the one that was connected to his heart from the very beginning. Everything was falling into place and you never wanted to let him go. You finally had him. Your other half. Your soulmate. Your Kylo Ren.

Obi-Wan wears a ‘the liberals didn’t make me gay, your dad did’ shirt on the negotiator once when he got woken up and had to leave without getting dressed, and starts an outright riot everyone is so mad at him. Where as the actual origins of the shirt was what he wore to Anakin’s 17th birthday party and Anakin was DELIGHTED. Vastly different ideas here.

Blessed Silence
Summary: You haven't known silence for eight years after your soulmate link manifests as a telepathic connection.
Pairing: Tech x reader, soulmate AU
Warnings: NSFW, unprotected sex, unrealistic first time sex, Soulmate AU so feelings just kinda happen, reader does have a sort of backstory but everything else is ambiguous, reader also is written as female bodied
A/N: I had most of this written, but I just needed some motivation to finish. Turns out avoiding feelings is a good motivator for writing smut. I kinda like this one. It was supposed to be a short fic, but it wound up sorta long. (This is the cut down version too, it was longer.)
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Your brain hasn’t been quiet for almost eight years.
It was near non-stop, constant chatter about anything and everything. Things from battle strategy to medical knowledge to ship specs, planets, species and languages you’d never even heard of. Your brain was full of it all the time.
The worst part? It wasn’t even your doing.
You had questioned for a long time what your soulmate link might be. Most species have them, and they vary depending on each unique link. From marks to timers to telepathy the list goes on and on. You’d know, you frequented that list often.
Many, many times you had gone through every option on that list, waiting for something to seem right. You had no marks, no timer, no strange dreams, no color blindness. For years you had nothing. You had wondered perhaps if there was something that had been missed, another way soulmates might present themselves that was unknown.
Or maybe, you didn’t have one at all.
Until about eight years ago when the thoughts had started. They’re not your own. The voice isn’t yours whispering them. At first you had thought you were going crazy, hearing some voice going at rapid speed in your head.
Reading back through the list had made you realize what it was.
You had a telepathic connection with your soulmate, and the nonstop chatter was your soulmate’s mind.
It really is nonstop.
The only time it quiets is when he sleeps, and that is sporadic and only in short bursts.
At first it had been enchanting. You had laid in your bed for hours, listening to his voice think about anything and everything. Quickly, though, it had grown to be almost annoying because he never stopped thinking. Always his brain is going, thinking of things that don’t even make sense to you sometimes.
That being said, he has been helpful to you a few times. You forget he can also hear your thoughts, since he was almost always drowning you out. A few, sparing times, he had helped you, like when your speeder broke down and you were determined to fix it yourself to avoid overpaying for a mechanic. It wasn’t that hard to figure out, but upon looking at various parts in the shop, you had drawn a blank on what you needed.
Then, whispering quietly in your mind, your soulmate had told you which parts to get, and had walked you through repairing it. You had thanked him, and then got a barrage of mechanical knowledge and more facts about speeder designs than you had ever wished to know.
As much as it annoyed you, hearing his voice constantly was reassuring. Your home planet had been entirely untouched by the war, but you had seen news about horrible battles leaving planets permanently scarred and millions homeless. You know he’s involved somehow, given the thousands of battle plans and strategies that flooded your mind constantly.
It makes you feel a bit better that he has a good reason for not actively looking for you.
It’s not like you were actively making an effort, but after you had realized he was probably involved in the army, you had squashed that thought quickly. You did want to meet him, if only to slap him for keeping you awake with his constant thoughts, but you weren’t searching him out.
Fate would allow your paths to cross eventually. Right now was not the time.
Then the war ended. It’s rather abrupt, with hardly more than a holocast from the Galactic Senate announcing the end of the war and the formation of the new Galactic Empire. You had never cared much about politics, or the war, because your planet wasn’t likely to ever feel the effects of any of it. Largely ignored due to its rather inconvenient placement away from hyperspace lanes and tucked into a far edge of the outer rim, your home was frequented only by those looking to hide. It’s a good spot to do it.
Despite this, nothing about the end of the war or the new Empire felt right to you, mostly because your soulmate feels that way. There's little you can do about it, and it seems he also agrees.
The battle strategies begin to shift. Deserter is a constant thought in your soulmate's head. Had they left the army after the war ended? You can't blame them, especially as news begins to reach your planet about the Empire.
You wonder about your soulmate sometimes, if he's okay. You know he's not exactly safe, given the thoughts you hear.
Not once has he worried about you. Not once has he even asked. Not once has he tried to communicate. You blame it on his situation. You blame it on his stress levels which have been through the roof.
You try not to let it hurt.
So you go on with your life as you had before, desperately trying to keep your farm going. It’s getting harder as time and the planet’s unpredictable weather wears on your tools and your home. You fix what you can, and hope the rest of it makes it to the next harvest.
You’re in town looking for parts when it finally happens.
It’s been nearly six standard since the war ended and the Empire took over the galaxy. Your planet still remains untouched and unbothered, hidden away safely in its corner of the galaxy. Visitors are still rare, and usually draw attention when they come.
You’re haggling for a part when you notice a group of newcomers. Five of them, looking out of place as they talk amongst each other.
You can't help but overhear the conversation, given your proximity. Your body stiffens as you pick up one of their voices, many thoughts running through your head. You know that voice. You've never heard it in person. Only ever in your mind.
The emotions leave you like an explosion, your body turning before you can stop it. "You!" You point at the group, cutting him off before he can continue.
They all turn to look at you, but you're too focused on him. You walk up to him, grabbing him by the chest plate and shaking him.
"Do you ever stop thinking? I haven't known silence in eight years!" You jab a finger into his chest, ignoring the way your finger bends uncomfortably against the unrelenting plastoid. "It never stops. Always something going and going and going. Do you even sleep anymore? And, and you can’t even bother to let me know you’re okay? You...you can’t even ask about me either? I’ve been waiting a long time to even hear from you and all I get is useless facts?”
He blinks down at you from behind his goggles, mouth parted in shocked silence.
“Tech,” One of the others says, drawing you back to reality. You’re in a very public place, telling off your soulmate. “You know her?”
Tech. That’s his name? Or perhaps a nickname. He lifts a hand, adjusting his goggles as he stares down at you. He’s tall, having to tilt his head to look down at you, just as you have to tilt your head to look up at him.
“Yes, I believe I’ve just met my soulmate.” He says slowly. They all turn to look at you, making you feel a bit self conscious. “We share a telepathic connection. It’s one of the rarer forms of soulmate links, though not the rarest. It’s affected by distance, the further you are, the stronger the connection is.”
“Maker, he talks as much as he thinks, doesn’t he?” You say, taking a step back.
“Ha!” The largest of the group exclaims. “That’s going to be really loud for you!”
“Actually, it will be the opposite.” Tech says. “As the link strengthens with distance, it weakens the closer we are. At this proximity, we won’t be able to hear each other’s thoughts at all.”
“As interesting as all of this is, we’re supposed to be laying low, remember?” The one that had spoken up earlier says.
You can’t help but snort, looking up at him. He’s shorter than the others, and has a skull tattooed on half of his face. “No one around here is going to say anything. Well, they’re all horrible gossips because nothing ever happens around here, but don’t worry. They only talk amongst each other. If you’re looking to hide, this is your place. No one cares about this planet. It’s too inconvenient.”
“She’s right.” Tech says. “It took us two days to reach here from the nearest hyperspace lane. The Republic had no interest in this planet. It’s highly unlikely the Empire will even consider it, since it has a small population and no major exports.” He pulls out a datapad, typing rapidly on it. “According to my research there’s not even a starport on this planet.”
The one with the skull tattoo stares at you hard, like he’s trying to see through your skin. You can tell he doesn't exactly trust you. But, if Tech’s thoughts were anything to go off of, he doesn't have good reason to trust anyone.
“This may be our only option for the time being.” Another one says. He’s rather gaunt and pale with a headset on.
The four of them share looks, seeming to silently communicate for a moment before they turn back to you. “Do you know of anywhere we could lay low for a while?” The skull tattoo asks her.
You shrug, sizing up the largest of them. “Well, I could use some help on my farm. If you’re not opposed to manual labor, I have plenty of space.”
They share another long look, silently debating your offer. You’re not sure why you’re offering space to total strangers, aside from possibly some free help for the upcoming harvest. Also, perhaps, because one of them is your soulmate.
“We’ll take you up on that offer.” Skull tattoo says, turning back to you.
You nod. “Great. I’m out on the outskirts, though. It’s a bit of a hike.”
“We will fly and meet you there.” Tech says. “I can find it.”
“Right.” You nod. Of course he could just read your mind and figure out where it is. “I guess I’ll see you there.”
You head back to your speeder, setting off out of town and out to your property. You glance up as a ship flies overhead, landing at the back of the house as you drive up. You park in your usual spot, watching as they leave the ship. Skull tattoo takes the lead as they approach you.
“I’m Hunter.” He introduces himself, motioning to the others. “This is Wrecker, Echo, Tech, and Omega.” He motions to the youngest, a girl no older than fifteen, who waves at you with a smile.
You introduce yourself, waving back.
“Thank you for doing this.” Hunter says.
You shrug. “I am serious about needing the extra help.”
“Whatever you need, we’ll do it.” He says sincerely.
“We’ll worry about that tomorrow.” You say, glancing at the setting sun. “You can get settled tonight.”
You lead them inside, wishing you had tidied up a bit. Then again, you hadn’t really expected to have company. The house feels small with the five extra bodies in it. Just like it used to.
“My room’s down there.” You point down one of the hallways, before turning to the other. “The three spare rooms are down here.” You lead them down the hallway. “There’s spare clothes in the dressers you’re welcome to, if they fit. There’s blankets in the closet and towels in the fresher. There’s also an outhouse by the barn if you’re feeling brave. I’ll let you get settled and go start on dinner.”
You scurry your way down the hallway, leaving them alone. You can practically hear the rebuking by your grandmother at letting complete strangers into your home so willingly. It’s not like you had anything of value left.
And they’re technically not strangers. At least, not totally.
***
You curl up in the chair, looking out at the light bugs dancing over the crops. A figure steps out on the porch, slowly approaching you. You don’t have to look up to know who it is. Despite only being around him for a short time, you feel like you’ve known him forever.
“Can’t sleep?” You ask, turning to look at him as he sits.
“I have no need to.” He says simply. You blink at him in confusion. “We were designed to need less sleep than the average nat-born.”
“Right.” You say slowly.
“We are clones.” He explains, holding your gaze. “We were created as part of an experimental unit exploring various enhancements. Hunter has enhanced senses, Wrecker increased strength, and I have a high intellect.”
“That...makes a lot of sense.” You say. “I figured you were involved in the war. I heard all about your battle strategies and whatnot.”
“Yes, that could have been very inconvenient if you had been involved with the Separatists.” He adjusts his goggles as he stares at you. “The Kaminoans weren’t sure if the clones would experience soulmates, but the first generation began developing links almost immediately. It complicated things, as soulmate links are strong motivators and many clones deserted in order to find and be with their soulmates. The Kaminoans had to take rather extreme measures and forbid us from attempting to contact or initiate the bond. Those that met their mates had to reject them, as the Jedi do. When I realized we shared a telepathic connection I was worried that may put the Republic in danger, but I assessed you were not a threat.”
“Thanks.” You say flatly, taking in his words.
“I wish we could have come sooner, but with the Empire after us after we deserted, I didn’t want to put you at risk. Now that things have settled down, I brought us to this planet in hopes of locating you. I used your thoughts to discern which planet you were on and if it would be suitable for us to hide, or perhaps even settle down somewhere permanently.” He continues, barely pausing to breathe. “I did pay attention to your thoughts. I didn’t understand many of them early on, but I’ve grown to understand you.”
You blink a bit at his words. He had located you solely on your thoughts, which meant he really had seen and heard them. Even though he hadn’t responded much, and from what it sounds like for a good reason, he had still heard you.
“You think a lot.” You say lamely, scrambling for a reply. You’re not quite sure what to say. For a while you had been upset that he seemed to ignore you, but from what it sounds like, he hadn’t been ignoring you at all.
“Yes, a byproduct of my genetic enhancements.” He says.
“It’s strange, now.” You say, leaning back in your seat, looking out at the town lights in the far distance. “Everything’s so quiet. As annoying as it was sometimes...I never really did feel alone. You...had perfect timing.”
“Well, they do say fate is never wrong.”
You smile. “I guess so. My grandparents built this place from the ground up. They were fugitives, on the run from the Republic.” His eyes widen a bit at that statement. “They came across this place by accident, like most do, and decided to settle down. My parents stayed here too, keeping it running while my grandparents got older and eventually passed. My brothers left as soon as they could. I haven’t seen them since. It was around that time you showed up. Shortly after my dad got sick. My mom didn’t last long after he passed. That left me alone. Well, alone with a clone talking in my head.” You smile softly at him. “I’m glad you’re here now.”
***
You wake early as usual, the others rising around the same time. Must have been a side effect of being a soldier. You make breakfast before heading out to the barn. You start Wrecker and Hunter on moving some things before taking Tech and Echo to the barely functioning equipment.
“This one’s the most important.” You pat the combine affectionately. “I was in town to get a part when I ran into you yesterday. She starts, but as soon as you put her in gear, she dies.”
Tech rubs his chin, staring at it. “I can fix that.”
The guys settle in easily, jumping right into helping you with the farm. Tech and Echo are a blessing in disguise, quickly getting all of the equipment back up and running more efficiently than they had before. Wrecker and Hunter help you with the more physical things, setting everything up for the coming harvest. Omega becomes your shadow, happily learning about the plants, their growth stages, and how to know when they’re ready to harvest.
It feels nice, having the farm full of life again. It feels like it used to, when your family had been all together. In a way, you’ve found a new family. You know your parents would be proud, after they got over the shock of you letting complete strangers in.
After the farming equipment is fixed, Tech moves his sights to the house, fixing and updating everything he can get his hands on. Anything broken or almost broken, he’s quick to jump in with an “I can fix that.”
You both also begin to grow closer, albeit slowly. Just as you had suspected with his raging thoughts, he constantly needed to be doing something. Finding time to be alone with him is hard, even with the others trying to help. Currently his attention is being taken up by a schematic for a new barn. He had already planned out an expansion of the house for the others for more privacy, which was a sweet thought, but you want to have time with him.
Your moment comes when you get up late one night, heading to the kitchen for a drink. Your mind has been running nonstop with the harvest nearly upon you and all of the details you had to make sure were perfect. It’s a bit different this time, now that you have help, but habits are hard to break and you can’t stop trying to make sure every little thing gets addressed.
You head into the kitchen, spotting a glow from the living room. You peek your head around the corner, spotting Tech lounging on the couch in the dark, face illuminated by the glow of a datapad.
“Tech?” You ask quietly, stepping into the living room, flipping on a light. “What are you doing out here?”
He looks up, barely moving the datapad. “Wrecker decided to lock me out of the room tonight.”
“Oh.” You say lamely. “That’s not very nice.”
He shrugs. “Can’t say I’ll miss his snoring.”
You bite your lip, staring at his scrunched figure on the couch. You shift on your feet nervously, butterflies fluttering in your stomach. “You could...come to my room.”
Your heart is pounding a bit as you stare at him. You had yet to be so forward with him, both of you dancing around that first step. He stares back over the top of the datapad, eyes wide. For a moment you regret offering. For a moment you wish you could hear his thoughts again.
"It...might be more comfortable." You hurry to add, not wanting to scare him off. "I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep right now and I could use some company."
He moves slowly, hesitantly. He pushes himself to sit up, rising from the couch. You forget how tall he is, used to seeing him hunched over something. You turn, making your way to your room. He follows behind you, carrying the datapad with him.
You turn to him as your door closes, his eyes scanning your room. He’s drawn to the photos on the wall, ones of you and your family. You come to stand next to him, telling him about each photo. Perhaps you’d have to add some more soon.
“My grandparents.” You point to the last one. “After their first harvest. They were so good at this, running a farm. They made it seem so easy.” You move, sitting on the edge of your bed. “There’s so much to think about, though. Everything has to go right because if one thing goes wrong it can mess up the harvest and ruin your entire year. They were so effortlessly good at it. It was like a second sense. They knew exactly when to harvest and could read the weather just by looking at the plants.” You shake your head, tears brimming. “I’m so scared of failing. It’s so hard to do alone and...I don’t want to be alone anymore.”
He kneels down in front of you, setting the datapad on the bed. His hand cups your chin, lifting your face so you’re looking at him. His thumb wipes the tear that slides down your cheek, his gaze soft as he stares at you. “I can fix that.”
He says it so softly, so sweetly, you want to melt right into the bed. You lean into his touch, feeling the rough fabric of his glove. You desperately want to feel his skin against yours. You stare into his eyes, feeling the magnetic pull between you. You can’t help it, the tension that had been building up over the last few weeks since you’d run into him in town beginning to boil over.
He’s hesitant as your lips touch, holding back a bit. He’s probably never been kissed. You haven’t either, just going off of what feels right. You can practically hear the wheels turning in his head, the thoughts that are probably racing. Once again, you wish you could hear them this close.
“You’re thinking too much.” You whisper, pulling away for a second.
Your fingers grab at his shirt, pulling him in closer as you kiss him once more. He finally moves, his arms slipping around you. You pull him as close as you can, your own arms wrapping around him. You never want to let go. You want to stay in this moment forever. You finally feel whole. For the first time in a long time you don’t feel alone.
Tech’s hands slip under your thighs, lifting you as he stands. It’s so effortless, like you almost don’t weigh anything. He kneels on the bed, dropping you against the pillows. He falls with you, catching himself on his hands above you. You stare up at him, shivering at the intensity in his gaze as he stares down at you.
“Tech,” You whisper, reaching for him as he lowers himself into you.
His body slots between your legs perfectly, like he was made to be there. Well, in a way he was. He fits against you like you’re two puzzle pieces, every ridge of his body matching the slope of yours.
He kisses you harder this time, pulling his gloves off. His bare hands trail up your arms, awakening every nerve ending as they go. Your body feels alive with energy as he touches you, your brain screaming for more. You want to get closer, you want to feel every bit of him that you can.
“I can feel it,” He murmurs, trailing his lips down your throat. “The soulmate link. The bond between us forming. It’s been studied over and over but still the actual science of it is not understood entirely. At first they thought perhaps it was brain chemicals sending the signals, but while those do play a role, it’s not entirely what draws two people together so perfectly.”
Your hands tug at his shirt as he rambles, your own discarded on the floor already. “And I don’t think they ever will.” You say, tugging his shirt off as he sits up. “I don’t think it’s something that can be explained in words.”
He stares down at you, his eyes trailing down your body. Your chest warms a bit under his gaze, your skin prickling with anticipation. “You are sure this is what you want?” He asks, as if it was even a question.
“If you don’t get me naked right now...” You don’t have to finish the empty threat, his hands tugging your pants off in one pull.
You’re already wet, your body more than ready for what it had been anticipating. Most soulmates didn’t make it weeks after finally meeting and initiating their bond. Of course, you and Tech had had minimal contact with each other, but your proximity had been very close. You’re not sure how you’ve made it this long, aside from the mounting stress of the coming harvest keeping the desire at bay.
Tech slides his hands along your sides, sitting up between your thighs. He parts them gently, staring down at your glistening folds. You smile softly, sitting up a little and grabbing his hand. You guide him to your clit, guiding him on how to please you.
You moan quietly as he takes over, picking it up quickly. Thank the maker he’s a quick learner. You let your body drop back onto the bed, sighing out another moan. “Kriff, Tech. Just like that.”
The pleasure builds within you, igniting your body. It feels so good, unlike anything you’ve ever felt before. There’s a coil tightening in your belly, pressure building within you.
You grab his hand before you cum, stopping him. “I want you inside me.” You say, sitting up to tug at his pants.
He stands from the bed, letting them drop. You gape at the size of him, opening your legs wider. He crawls between them, pumping his hand over his length a couple times. “I’ve never done this before.” He says, staring down at you.
“I haven’t either.” You say, swallowing nervously. You’re not sure why you’re nervous. You trust him.
You wrap a hand around him, guiding him in place. He lowers himself to hover over you, letting your hand do the work. You wince a bit as he presses in, putting a hand on his hip to still him. You probably should have prepared a bit more for this, but you’re too desperate to feel him to care.
You squeeze his hip, telling him to move. Your arms wrap around his back, holding on as he slowly works his way inside you. The stretch burns a bit, but his lips on your shoulder help distract from the discomfort.
He groans once he’s seated inside you, his face pressing against your neck. You cling to him, finally feeling whole and content since his arrival. You can’t help but feel like this is where you’re supposed to be, right here in his arms. Despite the discomfort you shift your hips, moving him inside you.
“Tech,” You murmur, your lips brushing his ear.
He hums against your neck, gently kissing the skin.
“Move.” You say, shifting your hips once more.
He presses up onto his elbows, looking down at you as he begins to rock his hips. It’s a bit awkward and sloppy at first, but he picks up a rhythm quickly. Your lips part as you stare up at him, holding his gaze behind his goggles. You get lost in the intensity of them, the focus as he stares at you. You want to know what he’s thinking, you want to know what’s running through that head of his right now.
He leans down to kiss you as his fingers find your clit, swallowing your moans as you cum. His thrusts turn sloppy, pressing into you once more before he releases inside of you. You both stay still, lips brushing in soft kisses as you take each other in.
Tech pulls away from you, stepping into your fresher to grab a cloth to clean you both up with before he slides under the covers with you. You rest against his chest, wrapping an arm around him as he holds you.
“Tech?” You ask, breaking the comfortable silence. He hums, fingers tracing patterns on your back. “You could have easily unlocked the door.”
He chuckles, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. “Yes, I could have. Perhaps I was hoping for an invitation.”
“You’ve never needed one.” You lean up, pressing a kiss to his lips. “You know that. You’ve always been welcome here.”
