Song Review: Stephen Marley feat. Jack Johnson and Bob Weir - “Winding Roads”
How long must we trod these winding roads, Stephen Marley sings on “Winding Roads,” the joint he rolled out with Jack Johnson and Bob Weir to promote his forthcoming (Sept. 15) Old Soul.
The guests play small roles; Johnson taking a couple of lines; Weir singing three words - kind of amazed - and playing a short guitar solo over a sashaying melody with just a smattering of reggae. The music is the antidote to the exhaustion examined in the lyrics, resulting in a kind mix of helplessness and hope.

Something very surreal about Dreddlocked hitting on all the 9/11 imagery in 1993 with its vision of a desolate, darkened urban wasteland populated by the wreckage of buildings... but very pointedly having the World Trade Center be one of the few remaining structures.
A mite awkward, in hindsight.

Your mind is the channel of it all. It feeds your soul, your heart, everything. It comes from your thoughts. The kind of person you are comes from the way you think. And it bleeds into the way you feel. And such forth. If the mind is not free, then we won't be free.
