Here’s the full interview Amazing Heroes did with Steve Purcell, creator of Sam and Max. This is from April 1990, three years after some successful issues and two years before Bad Day on the Moon, which Purcell mentions here on “hoping to finish.” Featured here are Steve Purcell's experiences revolving his authorship of a Gumby and Pokey story, a cancelled Batman comic, meeting Sergio Aragones at then named CCAC, and, most importantly, the convoluted origins of fizzball.

the fruits of my Sam and Max kick, golly the research for this show was super fun to do, lots of investigative work to find reference and sketches from people who worked on the show. I remember the coolest and most helpful thing I found was a video of Steve Purcell sketching at a comic con and finding out how he holds his pencil to draw was really useful in learning to replicate his pen strokes
