I love you, Steve signs. Then again. He places his hand to his heart, then holds it up, tucking in his thumb. I love you, Bucky.
Bucky's storm-grey eyes are clear. He raises his fist for 'S' and lets his hand, fingers splayed, make an arc across his chest. Steve.
Steve is a Deaf artist. Bucky is a bookworm who's non-verbal autistic. When they meet, they find that nobody else understands them quite like the other does.
A very late fill for @stucky-week's final free prompt!
Disclaimer: I'm not Deaf/HOH myself! A big thanks to @littlemidnightnothings for letting me ask questions about Steve and Bucky's name signs and for consulting your friend on it :) Your help meant so much!
Bucky's name sign is a combination of the sign for 'B' and a reference to the heart. It's meant to reference his kind heart and the name Bucky :)
Steve's is a combination of the sign for 'S' and the sign for 'sunshine'. Steve's ma gave him his sign name — it's meant to allude to how she calls him "sunshine boy" in the comics and includes S for Steve :)
I got the signs from handspeak.com so please let me know if any are wrong!
I was inspired to write this fanfiction based off of the phenomenal art seen above by @kiu-k. Please go check out their original post and reblog this absolutely beautiful piece!!
Magic in Your Hands
The Avengers were hit with a spell turning them all into statues — all except Captain Marvel, who safely returned them to Earth.
Nick Fury knew who to call: Steve Rogers, the man who made statues come to life.
Steve was quick to take on the challenge to save the superheroes.
It didn't hurt that the statue of Bucky Barnes was easy on the eyes.

Bucky doesn't emerge from his apartment for another three days, at which point he marches into Steve's living room, hands on his hips and an angry scowl on his face.
"Did you know there were movies?" he says, accusation dripping from his words.
"I—that's—what?"
"Movies! Did you know they made movies?" Bucky demands.
"Hi, Buck, it's nice to see you, too," Steve says.
"Cut the shit, did you know?" Bucky says.
"Well, I-I heard about them but I've never seen 'em," Steve admits.
"You're telling me you knew this whole time and you haven't even watched them?" Bucky exclaims, exasperated.
"Uh, I mean…yes?" Steve cringes and Bucky all but growls.
"We're having a movie night," he says, sticking his chin out.

Bucky strips down to nothing again, leaving his clothes and the dog tags within reach, but hell-bent, it seems, on evening out his tan.
His vain guy, Steve thinks, as Bucky rolls onto his stomach, propping his chin on his crossed wrists and soon lost in his book. But a steady warmth flares all along the inside of his ribs that the person Bucky is going to look so good for naked is him.
Hours slip by in a hazy, white-hot glare: fitting his mouth to the marks of Bucky’s teeth left in sweet, creamy pears passed back and forth, the soporific sunshine, and Bucky close.
Could be closer, comes the glancing thought as Bucky lifts up his hand, not looking away from the page, waiting for Steve to reach over and put the pear back into his grasp.

Hello all, I’m searching for MCU roleplays with a Stucky endgame. I’m 30+, female, and my timezone is GMT+12. I’d like to play Bucky against a Steve Rogers. I’m looking for someone at least 21+, female/female-identifying/afab preferred, who can reply at least a few times a day and likes to build plot. I’m happy to play other side characters in the MCU as and when needed, and would like a partner willing to do the same (this is not the same as 'doubling'). I’m a huge fan of slow burn and unresolved sexual tension.
I write short-to-mid length paragraphs and prefer quality over quantity. I use Discord. You should be collaborative and willing to have fun :) I like to chat OOC as well so bonus points if you do too!
I’m particularly in the mood for plots like:
- canon divergence after TWS (recovering Bucky, Stucky on the run, etc)
- light-to-mid HYDRA Trash Party
- enemies to friends (to lovers?) e.g. FormerHYDRA!Bucky and Cap!Steve
- shrinkyclinks
- angst, hurt/comfort, whump
- WinterSoldier!Bucky plus WinterSoldier!Steve
and more!
Interested? Reach out via PMs or straight on Discord at reyn2098!
a quiet and cozy morning for Steve and Bucky before the war.

Hi friends! Welcome to my Stucky Bingo masterlist. I filled out the whole square, which is exciting for me because in two decades of fandom I've never so much as completed a single line of bingo before. It adds up to a total of 22, 817 new words and three (four) pieces of art, which is pretty darn cool. Hope you enjoy it!

Bucky loved his friends, and he didn’t really blame them for interfering. How could he? Clint was right; in the two years since they’d come here together for uni, Bucky’s ladykiller days had spontaneously ended. It was always about Steve, now. Steve this, Steve that. Nevermind that in all that time Bucky had probably said maybe 20 words to the man.

moodboard for @stuckybingo - g2: the chair; rated m
~243w drabble below; warning for angst & unhappy ending
Bucky Barnes wasn't used to taking the backseat.
Not in cars.
Not in classrooms.
Not in life.
But then, his 5'4" best friend became 6'0". Said friend became his Captain.
And Bucky took the backseat.
He followed his Captain's orders to an untimely death.
Death, yes, because while he survived the fall, the man who lost his grip would never be the same.
Decades of torture and brainwashing were held in a cold, hard chair.
Later, finally, he would taste freedom, only to be held a fugitive. The cold, hard chair could no longer restrain him. Yet, he was suffocated by coming to terms with who he was before.
And after.
Perhaps a bit of both.
His Captain now had new people in his life. That was a good thing, certainly, and yet Bucky found himself concerned he was taking the backseat even to them - sometimes literally.
In battle - and what a different battle this was than the war - Bucky took a backseat to his Captain's orders, his Captain's ideas, his Captain's strengths.
He took a backseat to his Captain's second love.
Because, of course, he had been the first.
And now, Bucky's in the backseat in a therapy room. While he may have been the one invited to drive the conversation, he didn't make the evaluations or come up with the treatment plan.
For a man born in the front seat, he was delegated to the back, and never gained back control.
