Re-introduction post

I’ve been gone for quite a while, but because I’m going to start my master in neurobiology I’m going to post again!

I’m Melanie, currently 21 years old and I will be starting my master in medical biology with a specialisation in neurobiology this September.

Last June I graduated with a bachelor in Life Sciences with a specialisation in biomedical research.

Here are some short fun facts about me:

I play guitar 🎸

Procrastinating is one of my great talents 😅

Memory and neurodevelopmental disorders are two of my favourite research topics 🧠

Sloths are my spirit animals 🦥

Hopefully this blog can once again motivate me to study and help me make some friends along the way!

Finally, university has returned! I’m yet to go to a tutorial (on account of the campuses still recovering from being flooded), but I’ve watched the newest lectures and I’m excited for what’s to come this semester. I’m studying Business and Creative Industries (first year for the former, third year for the latter).

My temp job isn’t quite done yet, but it should be in the next couple of weeks. I’m relieved because it’ll allow me to focus on uni, but I’ll miss the much better income.

I enjoy writing and I’m very good at it, but all my temp jobs have just been data filling. Does anyone have any suggestions for genuine ways to earn money as a writer while studying full-time?

It’s January and uni doesn’t start back up again until the beginning of March. I’m itching to get back to studying! Fortunately, I’ve got a temp job these holidays so I can pass the time earning money.

That’s my beautiful doggo baby Oli in the second picture. He’s a standard schnauzer and the second dog of this breed that my family has had. Both have been completely nuts in their own ways (Oli is scared of almost everything, and our first dog, Pepper, was a master escape artist). I’d love to hear about your pets in replies or reblogs!

A worthwhile reminder for anyone feeling down- the future is worth sticking around for, and the best is yet to come.

The uni semester is over and I’ve just recently received my marks. I got my first overall High Distinction! Really aced my short story writing unit. It gives me confidence for my future; hopefully I can work in the publishing/editing/authoring world.

It’s been a month since I’ve started my very first internship at the cognitive neuroscience department and so far I’m really enjoying it!

I did have to give up my summer holidays for this project but so be it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hopefully I’ll be able to graduate early🙌🏻

Yesterday I went to the bookstore for the first time since the end of lockdown and after that I went for a walk and sat in a tree for a bit to read 😊
