Steel and Super Regeneration?

I could have sworn about done this one before, but I can't seem to find it. Better safe then sorry.

New Quirk Name: Shredded

This Transformation type Quirk activates whenever the user gets damaged. In the process, the missing part will become replaced by a metal equivalent. This makes the user more physically threating, improving their strength to smash through concrete and shrug off bullets. The user has some control over this as it's being produced, such as causing the metal to grow into jagged metal. After a period of not being damaged, the user will slowly return back to normal. This gives the user a good defensive ability, able to withstand heavy damage and get right back up even tougher then before. If nothing else, it can make the user a good human shield, working to exhaust enemies through sheer resilience. Though this does require the user to be harmed in the first place and there is a limit to the user's healing, like being able to restore harm to their brain. Being metal can work against the user, such as being easier to hit with electricity.

Only thing I am ignoring from the new show is the ghoul lore retcon. Needing medicine to not turn feral erases TONS of fun ghoul opportunities [remember the ghoul kid locked in a fridge for 200 years?] And sweeps aside a decade of amazing theories for a, let's be real, painfully simply and boring zombie retcon

(long post, sorry for the random people stumbling upon this lol)

so I'm the dm for the chatty hobbits campaign and essentially it's set in a beleriand-adjacent continent, but with a few extra races and stuff. of the founders of the original settlements, the king of elende (the elf kingdom) is Gil-galad's (invented for the campaign) twin brother Finellach/Finwain. originally he was inspired by the fact that gil galad has a ton of names but only uses ereinion/gil, so I just invented a new character and gave him half the names. I headcanon gil galad as maglor's son, so finwain is in universe maglor's son (left at the havens with gil bc his wife divorced him for kinslaying and his kingdom, being next door neighbors with morgoth, is far too dangerous for small children).

Anyways, his descendant Elinyel (also known as aramire or elinnor) is the current queen of Elende! she's an evil fire-themed bard who is extremely feanorian in all the worst ways - her actual kingdom prospered under her reign, but she just does not care about everyone else as long as she's protecting her people. There were some tensions with one of the major kingdoms to the north (conflict over unclaimed territory between the kingdoms and some tariff stuff), so instead of risking the other kingdom starting a war and hurting her people, she just preemptively invaded it and started burned all the border territories to the ground.

her actual coronation was pretty weird- so she's the second child, but her older sister was born in wartime and there's a general belief in elende that children of peacetime make better rulers, so Elinyel was chosen as her family's heir. her grandfather (the crown prince of his generation) died defending Elende in one of the major wars, but his younger brother and two young kids survived. there's a whole feud between their houses because the brother chose to retain the kingship even after the kids were old enough to take the throne. anyways, two generations later Elinyel killed her cousin Arendil (the previous king of Elende) over a dispute about the legitimacy of his house (and what she believed to be a dishonoring of her grandparents' sacrifice) and took the throne.

obviously she has many Issues. arendil also has two surviving kids who are now essentially trying to stop her from murdering all their neighbors in proactive defense of her people.

however, when she first ascended she recruited her friend group as her elite guard/vassals of the kingdom. (aka the other bosses in the storyline). so it escalated to a war between her forces and the children of arendil, which ultimately culminated in her beloved sister being killed by one of arendil's children. this in turn led to her having basically a massive mental breakdown and feeling like she failed to protect her loved ones (exacerbated by some of her other friends being killed in battles she led). a normal person might decide this is was kind of her fault for starting a war and putting her friends in charge of the army. instead she decided she needed to destroy everyone who could ever potentially pose a threat. which is, in her eyes, literally everyone on the continent (except for her kingdom, of course).

so now she is at war with absolutely everyone of all factions! She is also somehow winning by virtue of Song almost on the level of maglor himself, and ten (now six) also incredibly powerful friends. Anyways, she has decided that the best way to wipe out the continent (except her kingdom) and start fresh is to literally find an ancient lost stone that can break the Doors of Night, summon Morgoth himself, and start the Dagorath. obviously this will Not go well for anyone at all if she succeeds, but she is on a full-on rampage and genuinely believes she (plus friends) can protect her kingdom from Morgoth's army while he wipes out everyone else.

#asks #THANK YOU FOR THIS BTW #i only have 1 friend irl who plays dnd and is also not affiliated with the campaign #and they aren't a silm person #so i cannot talk w anyone irl about the Lore #one of the few kingdoms who could really oppose her is the magic one #bc max level wizards might as well be ainur and the monarch of the magic kingdom is Very Powerful #however. said monarch is also the twin sibling of one of elinyel's friends #(who is also an evil lich now and also maybe dating a diff friend who is an evil sorceror? not sure of details yet) #so the super powerful battlemage monarch is remaining Politically Neutral so they don't have to fight their literal evil twin #currently the party is level 6 and just defeated the very-weakened wraith of one of the friends #she was a druid but sort of decayed when she was corrupted and was kidnapping untrained/low level sorcs as servants to siphon power from #and also living in the Grove of Resurrection in order to stay intact #i forgot her dialogue while running the battle so while i looked through my docs i just had her say 'loading please wait' lol #also more chatty hobbit stuff #the grove is a huge grassy area with a walking tree in the middle #so the whole thing is constantly roaming aroudn #the wraith-druid had her castle built on it so she could have a moving castle that also heals her #the grassy part will resurrect any dead thing put on it #for the battle they had to drag her off the grass in order to kill her #technically shes been dead for some years but is surviving via constant contact w the grove #the hobbit (Shade) is from the Alder family who has historically been the guardians of the grove #he discovered he could talk to the tree in the middle and immediately started trying to figure out a way he could use the grove to #clone one of the party members #the tree does not approve of intentionally cutting off people's arms to see if it regenerates into a clone lol #oh! and they found anglachel in the grove. the dragonborn monk wants to keep it

How Superpowers Work, Poll 1

Would molecular regeneration make the user/weirder more susceptible to drugs/alcohol or would it make them immune?

On one hand, they are regenerating at a molecular level- not a cellular. So they regeneration process would likely not see too much difference between painkillers/liquor than any of the other substances in the body and there for regenerate it with the rest, causing the initial dosage to increase as well as take longer for the body filter through everything

On the other hand, the molecular regeneration is triggered by damage done to the cells- which alcohol (and several drugs) do in order to be effective. So following that logic, the users power could constantly be restoring the cells before said drugs/alcohol could take effect.

If you were Nine and could steal Nine quirks what would they be?

For the sake of this, I'm assuming I have copies of the Quirks and don't need to hunt them down. I'm also throwing in another Quirk to work as my original Quirk, similar to Nine's "Weather Manipulation". Even if this was a situation where I was trapped in his body or something, I'd drop that Quirk as fast as possible. And while I could go for overpowered Quirks like "Overclock" or "Overhaul", I'd rather go for the simple powers with high synergy that often define the arsenal of "All For One" users.

Super Regeneration: I mean, what is any kind of combination of Quirks like this without "Super Regeneration"? While it doesn't have any amazing combination potential, it's good insurance that I'd be a fool to pass up as my main power.

Glamour: While this doesn't have the most synergy with other Quirks, I do believe that it is useful enough on its own to warrant a spot. Long-range audio and visual illusions are really useful for undermining people and controlling the battlefield.

Muscle Augmentation: An amazingly simple power that can cover a lot of the basic physical enhancements, so I don't need to waste space on them. Plus, with "Super Regeneration", it can do away with one of the biggest weaknesses of the Quirk.

Barrier: Like "Glamour", it doesn't offer the most robust amount of synergy, but it's still a good option to have. It's amazing for defense, and I wouldn't have to rely on other people in order to deal damage, nor would I need to be as stationary with it.

Black Whip: The sheer utility of this Quirk is immense, effectively acting as a form of telekinesis with some extra ribbons, which is simply enough to work with other choices like combining it with "Muscle Augmentation" to enhance the muscle fibers of it or working to help "Super Regeneration" stitch things back together.

Transforming Arms: Having such an extensive amount of control over your physical form opens up so many opportunities for form and combinations, both with the arms themselves and with other Quirks, like making super weapons with "Muscle Augmentation and reducing the risk of usage with "Super Regeneration".

Gyrate: This does offer some decent offense and defense, but it's more of a platform to combine with other powers, like massively amplify their speed and damage with "Muscle Augmentation" and use it as a reliable way of flight, or use it to increase the reach and pulling power of "Black Whip", or extend the spinning defense to "Barrier".

Clones: While I don't believe that the clones would have the other Quirks, they are still great in terms of scouting and information gathering given the hive mind. I'd like to see how it could combine with other Quirks, like using "Glamour" to make the clones look like other people or "Transforming Arms" to grant them new physical forms.

Elasticity: This grants me some amazing battlefield control and mobility options, but it'd better to have to combine with other Quirks, like giving elastic properties to things like "Barrier" to alter the shield's shape or "Black Whip" to grant it greater flexibility. Maybe even spreading effects through whatever the user makes elastic, like making things twist with "Gyrate".

Rifle: This is about as simple as it gets. It's a gun that is capable of dealing a lot of damage. Its beauty is in its simplicity though because I can change it so easily with the other Quirks. Bullets that work as hallucinogens, changing into other kinds of guns, bullets that bounce around on contact, and supercharged shots with the rifle. There's a lot of potential in it.

#tw smoking #cw smoking #the mechanisms #jonny d'ville #art #digital art #btw had to actually think about how I think their regeneration works #and most wounds (especially fatal ones) scar and won't go away unless the entire area AROUND it has be be regrown #which resets their bodies (keeping scars gained before or during mechanization) #most scars end up being reset BUT sometimes scars will fade completely bc that's possible it just takes awhile #but some scars are so thick/large that they only go away with a total reset #they'll often throw themselves into the engine/other extreme deaths to reset on purpose bc after a certain point #too much scar tissue is painful/makes it hard to move #normally after getting a burn as large as the one on his back Jonny would immediately try to reset bc burn scars suck #but he doesn't do it this time bc he loves bringing up the fact that tim dropped a grenade on him by accident and needs a reason to #so the scar can stay #really large/severe/or old scars will sometimes last THROUGH a reset but will be less than they were #so when jonny eventually DOES reset the scar doesn't actually go away it just heals enough that it doesn't hurt to lift his arm up #his top surgery scars look thin but if you touch them the scar tissue is super thick so they last through resets #his most recent scar is the stab through the ribs from Ashes

still thinking abt how zombot Bunnie would work (in regards to it being a replacement for the whole half-roboticized thing, which was an idea i saw a while back). would she be unable to touch anyone for fear of starting the spread of the virus again, or would it be sterile? how did it not get caught by the super hogs? better yet, why didn’t it get taken away by the super hogs? what does the metal virus do for her? does it do anything unique, or is it basically just normal body parts but with metal virus on them? does Bunnie get extra strength from it? regeneration? the zombots were basically immune to damage bc of their regeneration, so are Bunnie’s limbs invincible now, or is she basically a normal rabbit who happens to have regrowable limbs? could she wear clothes over the affected area to hide it from those around her, who would probably respond really badly if they saw someone with the virus? or would the virus just grow to include the clothes like it did with a lot of characters? sure most of those ‘clothes gets coated by the virus’ characters were wearing their clothes when they got infected, and there was the hooded guy in the restoration base who hid his infection, but we don’t know how it worked.
