we need to bring back the concept of swinging again cause if i see one more person say the waltens and the krankens would have some sorta queer platonic polycule bullshit ill lose it.
theyre straight married suburban middle aged couples who are close friends in the 60s - 70s. they'd be swingers. that's what that would be.

was Max's mom killed by the gates?
"Susan is dead" hc my beloved, idk if I can continue supporting the idea of Max's trailer being eaten by the gate.
the gates are extremely localized. I mean, one of them vaporized Jason's torso without harming his feet or head, so I don't see how the whole trailer park would be destroyed just because a gate cracked open through the middle of it.
Max's trailer would only have been swallowed by the gate if it happens to be situated in the direct path the gate carved away from Eddie's trailer. is it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
no.
so if Susan was home when this happened, despite being only yards away, I don't see much reason to think she'd have been harmed any more than by the earthquake aspect of it.
but is it likely Susan is home?
say you come home from work, your depressed kid is missing and you find some worrisome, emotional notes addressed to each family member. do you think "oh, huh" and then go to sleep? or do you get worried, call the cops, go out looking for her?
it's also possible that Susan hasn't been home at all yet at the time the gates open.
Susan works days, probably at Bradley's Big Buy. the gates opened well into the night (can we tell when?). she might be out because she has a night job, or is running errands, or my new favorite theory:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in a line Max wrote to Billy but didn't read aloud, she says that her mom blows all their money at the Hideaway.
the Hideaway is the bar we've seen Hopper go to a couple times. while they don't show us exactly which building the Hideaway is (fitting), this is the establishing shot they use for its location in s1. the town square - the library, Melvald's, Radio Shack.
and we know that town square took a mighty big hit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and no, it's not the building right next to Radio Shack; that's vacant (I was really hoping). but you can see there are plenty of other buildings in the vicinity that were destroyed.
it sounds like The Hideaway is the place Susan spends most of her time besides work and home, so it doesn't seem like a stretch to think maybe she was there the night the gates opened.
wouldn't that be just like Max's story - if her mom is out at the bar while she's fighting for her life?
Susan's absence at the hospital is definitely a choice. two days is enough time to have found out about Max. how hard would it have been to just have her standing in the background in the hospital scene? they've included her more pointlessly in other scenes.
her absence is sad either way - either she's dead, or she's still not there for Max, even now.

okay so do you guys know that part in ck when ali and johnny see each other again and ali says something like:
"my daughter was on the path to becoming a ballerina and then she joined a punk band"
that led me to the head cannon that in college ali, susan and barbara created a band and were semi-popular in the late 80s-90s.
like imagine jessica somehow becomes friends with one of them and invites daniel to one of their shows. she's all like "Daniel you HAVE to come to my friends show sometime you'll love it". and so they go and daniel is just bugging out trying to figure out if that's ali or not because she dyed her hair and she looks completely different from when he last saw her.
but then. imagine this okay. hear me out on this.
so we know johnny 'partied through all of his 20s' and also loves music (specifically rock) so just imagine him and the cobras ALSO going to the same concert as jessica and daniel. IT HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL. LIKE HOW WOULD THEY REACT??? AHHHH.
anyway this was just a really long post about how I think her daughter saw old pictures of her back when she was in the band and thought 'holy FUCK thats so cool'
and so she asked ali about it and ali brought up a huge bin from her basement with all her old clothes and stuff from then and so now that's all her daughter wears.

Can we talk about how Max loves her mother unconditionally? I know I've mentioned this before BUT --- when asked about her by Ms.Kelley she defended Susan.. Still made her out to be a great mom who wasn't around because she was providing. When, yes that might have been part of it, but she also wasn't around because she couldn't fathom being home, around max. without neil. in a trailer.. Susan might have had to pay the bills, but she also just wasn't there. A choice she made consciously. That being said, Max holds so much resentment towards her. Her mother let her father leave, she let an abuser come into their home. She let this abuser actively abuse the only other family she had. A brother that might have loved her, or showed that he loved her -- if he was allowed to. She became distant, never there. Leaving max to fend for herself. Max lost everything, Billy, El, Will & her mother, and Susan didn't even care. So yes she loves her mother unconditionally, but she also resents the shit out of her. Hatred slowly builds every time she thinks about her mom.. Every time Susan is brought up, she can feel the ice around her heart grow colder, thicker.

The Hunger (1983)
Tumblr media
“My time is my own,” Miriam Blaylock tells Dr Sarah Roberts when discussing their livelihoods.  The woman spends her days in a sort of elegant malaise, time stretching on into infinity while she remains a constant.  If Dr Roberts is searching for some sort of “cure” for aging but can only speed up that natural process, Miriam can only do the same on a supernatural level.  Promising her lovers eternal life but unable to deliver perpetual youth, she becomes somehow more monstrous than even a conventional vampire.  Each time she takes a new partner, she knows that sometime sooner or later they will be condemned to the life of a living corpse, secreted away in her attic crypt.  There is no release of death for their kind.  Dr Roberts may want to prolong natural life, but the existences of Miriam and her unfortunate lovers call into question whether that is actually a gift.  There is glamour and allure on the surface, vampiric lovers indulging in bloodsport and lovemaking with equally erotic verve.  But at the end of it all is an eternal stretch of looking like the Crypt Keeper.  Hard pass.
This may well be the most Tony Scott movie to ever Tony Scott.  The opening sequence comes across like a fever dream, rapidly intercutting an underground goth-punk-ish nightclub with the bloody aftermath of the conquest.  It’s perfectly slick, but soon it reveals that it has oh so much more up its sleeve.  Curtains billow everywhere in the Blaylock abode, seemingly nary a window left closed.  This both parallels the gauzy drapes of the flashback sequences ancient Egypt and 18th-Century France, but also serves as a way to artfully obscure erotic scenes.   Sex plays out in parts like something out of a European arthouse flick, though Scott can never resist a good insert shot of a dove in flight.  Hell, they’re even roosting in the attic with the Former Lovers’ Club!  A lot of these heightened elements work and feed into the strangely surreal world of these vampires.  But then there are the choices which hamper the movie.  The slow-motion moments.  The dove inserts.  The weird, distorted voices.  The dove inserts.  It’s going for erotic melodrama and really firing on all cylinders because why leave anything on the floor?  It’s at once bewildering and enthralling, but hey, at least we get to see David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve in steamy scenes together.  At least that’s preserved on celluloid forever and ever.
THE RULES

Voices get all echoey.

please tell me what susan foreman's silly little drink order is
Susan Foreman strolls into Starbucks. I giggle and twirl my hair when she comes in. Now I need to wash my hands because I touched my hair. Fuck.
She orders a peach green tea lemonade. Very in character, very fitting, dogshit drink choice. Our peach juice is nasty and she can do better. I do not correct her.
She drinks the entire thing and comes back to order later. Espresso frappuccino with whip cream. 2 for 2 on terrible choices, queen, go off. I give her a blonde shot to try and save the drink. I ask how many shots of espresso she wants after she’s already paid for it. She forgot she wants an extra shot and offers to pay. I give her no such grace. She gets the shot anyways.

I love when people reject normality. Louis smoking and going to the gym? Probably fake!! A maid of a hotel stalking Louis and Oli and going into their rooms and smelling his pillows that smells like flowers and Oli and Louis watched Coco? Believable and accepted.
LMAO, FOR REALLLLLLLLLLLLL, god he's fit AND he knows it, shout out to Mike Skinner, but I also feel like there's a wee bit of hope in this Chili's tonight, there are fewer of the Coco-esque ones going around, and I think it's because the people spreading that type of horseshit are FINALLY realizing a) they look like complete idiots for doing so and/or b) they're pickin' up what Louis's chest is puttin' down, i.e., it's what it's, and that is some garbage fanfic people love to send anonymously for laffs
