Hi sorry I need to do some more Pokemon posting bc this is the funniest shit. the cute-looking Pokèmon TCG series is making "TM10" part of its branding. Like, TM10 from the games - its the TM for the move Hidden Power, thats cute! Its reflecting the main character discovering herself in the same way the move works in the game, what a cute little detail!

Except uh. Just one problem.

Game Freak in all their brilliance removed Hidden Power from the franchise four years ago in Generation 8* and its still not able to be used in Scarlet and Violet. Its not just that you cant teach it to Pokèmon anymore, you straight up cannot use the attack even if you trade in Pokèmon from older games who know it. Its like a banned technique.

So then that begs the question – if the TCG show is gonna be referencing TM10 this much, but TM10 *isn't* Hidden Power anymore, surely that means TM10 is another similarly inspiring attack - Stored Power, or Calm Mind, or Smart Strike?

Well, depending on if its Gen 8 or 9, I hope the kids will have fun Discovering Their Own Magical Leaf and/or Discovering Their Own Ice Fang. Truly inspiring words. love how well managed this franchise is

Diona is probably one of the most underrated tragic characters like ever. It’s heavily sanitized but she complains that all her fans are drunkard adults, that she’s had her tail pulled and ears tugged because people thought they were fake,

Although, things might actually have gotten better for her recently.

With the popularity of Genius Invokation TCG, The Cats Tail has turned from a cat themed bar into something more akin to a game shop with optional drinks. Because of the luxury of it, they increase alcohol prices, which just makes things better.

She doesn’t spend her time slapping drunk hands away from her ears and serving endless drinks. The cocktails she makes are not to be chugged but to be drank slowly as people hang out playing cards—no one wants to loose a match cause they’re drunk.

She spends her down time teaching newbie the ins and outs of the game. Chatting with younger people who are more excited to hang out, pet cats, and play cards than get drunk. They’re more sober, more respectful, they don’t try and pull her tail or pet her ears.

Soon enough, the job she hated working started becoming… fun? It was a more appropriate job for her age too.

Every once in a while, Albedo, the creator of TCG, comes around to play a game or two. After all, he personally gave the Cats Tail permission to be the official home-place of Genius Invokation. He smiles, happy he did something positive for Mondstadt. He hasn’t always fit into Mondstadt, but he’s happy he makes it a little better for a few people.

I know this may not much sense because I cannot convey it properly and I don’t know if I said it before but there’s something incredibly dear to me when Yusei uses the “Scrap” Archetype (Tag Force 5,’Poncho Yusei’). I think it’s because of how important decks and their symbolism are to the characters, so Yusei using Scrap, an Archetype whose whole thing is destroying each other for benefits, (as opposed to Junk, which swarms to Synchro Summon and gets benefits out of it (quite literally ‘Power of Fellows’) just kinda changes his character a little to me (in a good way). 

(I also wanna add he uses Scrap specifically because that story line is focused on Crash Town, and i gotta be honest I am a bit of fake fan because I haven’t finished playing through it, but I think it aesthetically fits more, too.)

The One Piece TCG looks pretty good from what I've played of it. I was a little worried that the combat that it's so focused on would be too shallow, but there's a lot of texture there.

#I'm a liiiiitttle worried about the number of exclusive cards in the long term and this game implodes if the card advantage is good #but otherwise it's pretty promising as a TCG
