A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away...Episode 174
Episode Titles: Are There Still People Who Go To The Ocean And Yell Out 'Bakayaro'? and When A Person Is Trapped, Their Inner Door Opens
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY 14 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 174 (first part has no manga equivalent, second part is from lesson 253):
Alright, so Tumblr hates my Gintama posts: it’s been terminating my blog every single time I make a Gintama-related post for the past 5 days. It would magically reactivate it again, but it’s still distressing. Since I worry one day it will get sick of reactivating my blog, I’m just going to start making my Gintama posts here. It’s like starting all over again but better than losing my old blog forever. (T_T) Tumblr, why are you trying to stop my Gintama prayers??? You don’t want it to come back or something??? WHY ARE YOU SO CRUEL?????
Tumblr media
1) First part was a weird fishing adventure which actually started out kinda dark with Madao being all beaten up by some yakuza types and then forced into fishing slavery. The Yorozuya were kinda forced to do the same, but most importantly, how freaking cute is Kagura-chan?? She’s so proud of her catch! I’m happy when she’s happy.
Tumblr media
2) NOT a favorite moment because seriously wtf was up with hairy turtle dude? Poor Madao.
Tumblr media
2) The Yorozuya giving Hasegawa all their support was so sweet.
Tumblr media
3) F that hairy turtle dude for forgetting about one very important true WOMAN of the sea.
Tumblr media
4) On to part two, the elevator lesson and how freaking adorable is Kagura  drooling and dreaming of food???
Tumblr media
5) I completely understand and sympathize with her stress. She is absolutely not overreacting AT ALL.
Tumblr media
6) A girl is hungry. I totally understood.
Tumblr media
7) A man is hungry. I totally understood.
Tumblr media
8) Their identical FML postures.
Tumblr media
9) Dear Pachi-kun trying to boost everyone’s spirits.
Tumblr media
10) I don’t know if it would be worse stuck in an elevator with pessimists like Gintoki, Kagura and that security guard...
Tumblr media
11) ,,,or borderline maniacs like Shinpachi. Lol.
Tumblr media
12) Emo Kagura is still adorable.
Tumblr media
13) I didn’t really like that security guard anyway so I was glad Shinpachi did that, even if it bordered on elderly abuse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
14) This brought tears to my eyes tonight. I love these three goofballs so damn much.
SHIPS TALLY:
Gintoki x Hasegawa: I wish they would get a room already. No I’m serious, I want them to get a room so I won’t have to see them being all cute together (cuz I’m just jealous on behalf of my ship...I am extremely petty).

Gintoki In Wonderland
Chapter 5/5
Everyone was panicking and was all around the place, trying to put out the fire and while escaping the deadly footsteps of the Jabberwocky. Gintoki, who was dragged by the witch and was now riding on his invisible broom, looked down on the chaos the witch and that small peddler did. He was even surprised when looking at the Jabberwocky closely, it looks like Kondo.
“Now, Snow White, no, your name is Gintoki, I was informed by the white rabbit, there is something you must do, right?” The witch then patted Gintoki on the back.
“Zura.” Gintoki replied. Though he was expecting a retort, he just smiled and jumped off from the broom and landed on the back of the Jabberwocky. “By the way, I’m forgetting something, again right?” Gintoki muttered. “How am I supposed to defeat this Gorilla, if I do not have my bokutooooo.” He shouted as he tried to cling onto the Jabberwocky’s back. The monster kept on reaching him but to no avail.
“You! Mayo guy and sadist!” he called out the siblings who were still putting out fire from the curtains. “Do you have any weapons?”
“Who are you calling mayo?! My name’s Hansel! All my mayonnaise was thrown away!” retorted Hansel. “Oi, Gretel, where is your candy cane?”
“Huh? I have it with—” Gretel turned around to look for his cane and he found it, crushed and eaten by the female dwarf.
“You glutton dwarf!” Gretel attacked with a punch the female dwarf, but it was avoided. The two then started fighting.
Seeing all of them, even in another world, Gintoki felt like he was still in his world. They were still a bunch of idiots. And he liked it. Just as he was getting a weapon from one of the swords that were pierced on the gorilla’s back, he was captured by the gorilla and he was about to be eaten alive. But he suddenly felt something inside his pocket. It was the purple apple. He threw the apple onto the gorilla’s mouth and the gorilla started to choke. Gintoki was set free from the grasp of the Gorilla, however, he fell straight onto the Gorilla’s mouth.
Gintoki went pale. “Seriously?”
Inside the Gorilla’s body, all he can see was darkness.
“…in-chan! Gin-chan!”
“…Gin-san!”
Tumblr media
He was hearing some voices. He woke up with a start and found himself back in his house, in his world. Just as he was adjusting from the weird dream that he had, before him were Kagura and Shinpachi, grinning at him.
“Happy Birthday Gin-chan!!!!”
“Happy Birthday to you Gin-san!!!”
The two suddenly popped some party poppers, and in an instant, everyone barged into the door.
“Aho no Sakata! Where are the drinks at?!”
“Free drinks. Yatta!” Madao and Catherine happily drink the sake Otose brought over.
“Don’t just finish the drinks by yourselves!” Otose smacked Catherine head. “Just this month, I’ll waive off your rent. But be sure to pay up next month.” She told Gintoki and puffed smoke towards the ceiling.
“Gintoki-sama, Happy t—”
“Hey Tama, do not mention his age. Even the Gorilla mangaka did not specify his age. Everyone will be upset to hear his age, aru.”
“Kagura-chan, no need to mention it, right? We already know what he’s like. It’s no surprise at all.”
“That’s right Shin-chan. Here, Gin-san, your present. My new recipe, egg pancake.”
“Otae-san!! I want to eat that—!” Kondo tried snatching the gift but was punched by Otae.
“Kyu-chan, and Tsukuyo-san, you two have something to give Gin-san, right?”
“Ah yes, well, this one is from my grandfather.” Kyubei handed Gintoki a box and inside it was a sandpaper.
“That old man still hasn’t forgotten about that episode?!” Gintoki gritted his teeth, in irritation.
“Gintoki, Happy Birthday. Don’t be mistaken. This is not o-only from me. This is from all of us in Yoshiwara.” Tsukuyo stammered and threw at Gintoki the VIP card present.
“It’s your birthday huh Yorozuya? Well, it’s not like I wanted to drop by, but Kondo-san insisted that we do. Here.” Hijikata, squeezed some mayonnaise on the cake before Gintoki. “Desserts are better with mayonnaise.”
“Hell no! Who would want to eat that shit?!” Gintoki threw the cake at Hijikata, but Hijikata used Yamazaki as a shield.
“Danna, I’m sorry about Hijikata-san. Here, try throwing another cake.” Sougo tied Hijikata to a log and positioned him in front of Gintoki.
“Ohhhh. Thank You Soji-kun.” Gintoki grabbed another cake and aimed the cake at Hijikata’s face.
“It’s Sougo.”
“Oi! Sougo! Untie me Sougo! You sadist combo!!”
“Ahahaha. Kintoki! Happy Birthday!!! Here’s your gift—Blurgh!” Sakamoto puked as soon as he barged in through the veranda and sent Hijikata flying outside.
“Gin-sannnn!!! Happy Birthday!!!” Another usual entrance, Sacchan, came down from the ceiling. She was about to hug Gin-san but since she lost her glasses, she hugged Sadaharu instead. And of course, Sadaharu chomped her head playfully, like the usual.
Everyone seemed to be in high spirits. A drunk Tsukuyo and Catherine beat up Madao; Sacchan’s still can’t get away from Sadaharu that Otae and Kyubei must pull her out forcefully; Sougo and Kagura fight over the last slice of cake, while Kondo stops a disheveled Hijikata from attacking Sougo; Yamazaki and Shinpachi quietly eat the remaining sausages at one corner; Sakamoto and Gintoki continued drinking, that Otose got angry at them for finishing the alcohol by themselves and Tama, being a robot maid, cleans up their barf; wiping off the floors and their filthy mouths using the same mop, much to the duo’s annoyance.
Meanwhile, Mutsu, ignores all the chaos around her, and nonchalantly gave Gintoki a big box. “We really had a tough time looking for this.”
Gintoki was about to open the box when the chaos behind him subdued. Curious, he turned around and saw everyone was staring at the door. He squeezed through the crowd to get to the door. Standing before him, the cause of the everyone’s astonishment, was the Gorilla mangaka.
The mangaka handed Gintoki a card. Confused as to why the Gorilla gave out a card instead of a letter through its nose, Gintoki reluctantly, accepted the card.
He flipped the card onto the other side.
“Sorry, I’m not that mangaka. The real Sorachi sensei is busy with the upcoming film next year. I’m just a double who wanted to congratulate you, Gintoki-san on your birthday. And to remind everyone, that the next day, October 11, is the birthday of your seiyuu, Sugita Tomokazu-san.”
Everyone’s faces went blank, and one by one, they started going home, including the ‘fake’ gorilla, who felt like he just stepped into some landmine, leaving the Yorozuya trio and their house in mayhem.
THE END.

P.S. Sorry, I think should post some omake for this story. _| ̄|○

Journey of a shipper: Kontae and how I fell for this ship?
OKAY! SO I'M FINALLY DOING THIS. Writing a long ass meta about this ship because hell, I love them and this ship is beautiful and I just need more content for this ship, so I'm making some myself! Before I start, it's just my opinion and I don't mean to offend anybody and second, I'm not a great analyst. I'm just going to ramble about stuff here and it's pretty long. So, enjoy!
I remember making this post about gintama ships back when I first started watching Gintama and I remember mentioning Kontae there. The sweet and kind guy falls for the hard-core and strong willed woman. A ship dynamic I really love. And their interactions, so damn funny I can't even say! And the 10 years gap didn't look like a big issue to me; they are both adults so I was okay with it. This ship looked funny to me, Kondou blushing, asking her to marry him, butt hair and all xD but also made me feel like "it may not get too far". But Idk why, I decided to stick with it. Because i was just so much in love with Kondou and Otae's characters. But in between all that, I really didn't see any kind of romance happening between these two and I was like maybe in an AU, they'd make a really good couple. It's not happening in Gintama 'cause I really don't see any kind of romance happening in this universe (and yet, I continued shipping xD)
But, I was wrong.
When the Yagyuu arc came and I watched episode 81. And my faith in this ship was restored. I know there were some ship-tease moments for gintae in the benizakura arc and the yagyuu arc but then this scene came:
Tumblr media
I know, I know, it wasn't literal but what if it was? Well, that's not the question here. I was pretty surprised to hear this myself. Gintoki saying "She'll make it up to him" and Hijikata saying "She loves him. She's just playing hard to get" and all then Otae comes and saves Kondou from his Gorilla marriage. I got the verdict here tho. Maybe it was just for comedic purpose, maybe not. But still, it was enough for me to continue shipping them coz they looked hella cute and I just thought I'd just stick to it. Maybe, I'm gonna find something big soon. I found other ships like Hijimitsu and Gintsu! But that's a topic for another day.
AND, YES. I DID!
The pool arc came, which is like ep 217 and yes, nothing huge happened but remember how Gintoki was a making fun of Otae's breasts and how he wasn't interested in looking at her flat chest but Kondou, who was, like always, stalking her, then says he's ready to explore every part of her to find the nipple xD and Otae just punches him. Yeah that was funny. And then Tae later again comments that she can see right through Gintoki's actions and Gintoki retorts again by saying that he's not interested in her camel toe. Then this scene happens:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kondou says he has no interest in camel toe and Tae again punches him while yelling "YOU DON'T?!"
Weird, right?
I know, it was weird for me too! But what can I say, these short details were what made me feel like maybe, JUST MAYBE, Tae has a thing for Kondou. Just look how offended she is. I know Kondou didn't mean to disrespect her neither was he rejecting her but I think Tae feels like he is. And so she goes like "what do u mean u don't?! Don't you love me!?" Even if it was just a sexual reference, it made me think that maybe, Hijikata was right. She does try to play hard and that there is something.
Then came the love choriss arc and I got a major hint.
How Sayaka-chan was Kondou's virtual girlfriend and how he introduced her to everyone in the Shimura residence. Yup then this happens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was stupid and weird and funny and my Kontae heart screamed "YER JEALOUS TAE!"
Just look at her going all dramatic while getting worried about Shinpachi. Well, of course she'll be worried about Shinpachi's well being and how her brother is just drowing into his own virtual world but Why. Throw. Kondou's. Game? If she really doesn't feel anything for him then there's no reason for her to throw Kondou's game. Why not let him stay in his own virtual world with his own virtual girlfriend? What were you planning, Sorachi-sama?
It was the very first time when it looked very evident to me that Tae has something for Kondou deep inside. That whole dramatic scream "THIS CAN'T BE!" just after Kondou introduced Sayaka-chan. I listened to that dialogue very closely and it first started with Kondo introducing her then Gintoki saying something like you're in this shit too? And soon was followed by Tae's dramatic "this can't be! Is Shin-chan going to be like this too!?" while throwing Kondou's game out and Kondou screaming "Sayaka-chan!!"
Tae's jealousy is still a mystery here but I still feel like, somewhere she was.
Moving on!
They went out on a date, which was a disaster and then alongside Kyubei in the Beam Saber arc, how Kondou fought for Otae I started to feel a lot more from Kondou's side. Yes. The stalking is a running gag but Kondou's feelings were given more comedic effect rather than highlighting it in a very serious tone. But that's how Sensei does his work. Gintama is supposed to be funny and this ship is supposed to be funny and I really wasn't expecting any intense and serious Kontae moment in the series.
Well, Sorachi-sama proved me wrong. AND I THANK HIM SO, SO VERY MUCH!
The Genderbender arc came, Kyubei is now this handsome hunk and Tae is blushing furiously and Kondou is this blond bombshell which is his too good! It's been shown over and over again that even if Kondou is a stalker, he just wants to see Otae happy. That's what he always wanted even if he isn't the reason for her happiness. When Jyubei and Tae starts meeting frequently, Kondou comes and encourages Jyubei to stop worrying about other and enjoy himself with Tae. He even says that he's happy with just being her friend and I think this proves how much he cares for her. He gives them those movie tickets telling he actually wanted to ask her out but now that he's like this, can't be with her like the way he always wanted to and now Jyubei is the only one who can take care of her. He was genuinely hurting but what matters most to him is Otae and so he leaves them while saying "if you make her cry, I'll arrest you". Even Kyubei later mentions it that it was him who was hurting and crying and he just happily sacrificed Otae so that she can be happy.
Then came the roach motel arc and OTAE WEARS THE KIMONO THAT KONDOU GAVE! Yes, not in the episode but in opening 15 she does and even in the manga cover! Ah..the feels. Well, coming back to the point, this episode was basically everybody bullying Kondou but the good part here was the ending of this episode. Kondou knowing that he was getting bullied and that Tae was a part of all this but he still says "that's how Otae-san is. This is what makes her, her." That was beautiful; he accepts her for who she is. He knows that she's brash and manipulative and even abusive but she's also kind and strong and beautiful; even after all her flaws he still continues to accept and love her. That's true love. And then comes Otae's part. She slowly starts to learn more and more about him, I think she knew he wasn't stalking her. And then she finally admits that she actually had fun with Kondou and that she got to see a new side of him while hugging that roach mask. She was happy to discover a new side of him, no stalking attached. I was so amazed to see this happening coz like I said, I wasn't expecting all these serious Kontae moments but these were actually happening. It was a breath of fresh air and I was really happy to see a developed relationship between these two characters which just made me ship them even more.
Then comes the love incense arc which was just....bizarre. What was Sensei thinking while writing this arc? Why would you do that to my poor kokoro!? But whatever, nothing is properly explained here, everybody is falling in love with everybody, Kondou turns gay, Gintoki just loses his senses and is sleeping with practically everybody, Tsukuyo's feelings for Gintoki starts to go havoc. But then, Tae and Kyubei comes in the picture. And they're in love with Gintoki too. But then, things change. Take turns out to be in love with Kondou! Hell, she was actually JEALOUS! Yes, it was the love incense and yes, this arc is just too crazy to explain anything properly but hear me out. What if, the love incense actually triggered some of Tae's hidden feelings for Kondou? Just like Tsukuyo's. Coz she actually saw Gintoki's dick first when she inhaled that smoke. Not him. But she ended up discovering her own feelings towards him. So what if this was the same case with Tae? We all saw that she was under the effect of that drug and was in love with Gintoki so Sensei, why this change of plans?
No answers, right? I don't have them either. It's just the little theory I came up with. What was Tae's real feelings? But soon the Shogun Assassination and the Farwell Shinsengumi arcs are followed after this.
And GOOD LORD! Sensei actually proved me wrong! By giving one of the most beautifully written scenes between these two characters.
It isn't always when Sorachi-sama actually decides to go for the romantic plot but in Kontae's case, I felt like he actually hinted a LOT. The very first ship in Gintama where I felt like no, this isn't just one-sided but actually, feelings were shown from both the sides, especially Tae. Like everyone, she misses him. But Tae remembering him like this and crying when she's about to get her neck slashed:
Tumblr media
"A real man, a real samurai would never do something like this. That man, would never do something like this."
She knows him, she knows what kind of a man Kondou really is. And even at a time like this, Kondou is the man who comes in her mind. A true man, true police, a true samurai who not for once tried to force himself upon her. Not for once showed any kind of disgrace towards any other people or her. All this time, she comes to learn more and more about him and you know, it was worth the time.
Even Shinpachi sees it.
"I'll bring that man, and everyone, back to you for sure. So wait for us with the same old smile on your face, Sis."
Why exclude him from everybody? There has a meaning behind this and a deep one and tbh, I see a romantic meaning behind this. Shinpachi addressing Kondou like this, it was new. It's not always when Sensei uses such points to evoke a romantic gesture but when he does, it sure leaves an impact.
And this is not the last time he used such implications for KonTae. Fast forward to ep 316, Tae is at Kozenigata's place and she's now leaving. Haji and Konzenigata both tries to stop her because it was dangerous outside and the police organisation isn't working properly and she replies,
"That's exactly why police need to go back to their jobs, and cabaret girls have to go back to their job."
It's like foreshadowing their relationship- the police and the cabaret girl. And then Kozenigata just simply puts a cherry on top.
Tumblr media
"They must have come back. Her police."
And Kondou pops out of that dustbin!
FREAKIN' POETIC CINEMA!
And then come the dialogues.
"Don't you think it's high time you stop doing this....You'll catch a cold."
Tumblr media
"Why did you have to say that out of all days? I wish you had acted like always, called me a perverted stalker and hit me like you always do. You're....making it hard to say goodbye."
Tumblr media
The voice acting, the dialogues, the animation, honestly everything screams romantic here. And yeah, the close-up happy-sad faces, if you've seen/read romantic anime/manga, you should know it's a shoujo trope used to display romantic feelings between two characters. And if I'm just making speculations, they're sharing the same umbrella...
Two people, especially a man and a woman, sharing an umbrella in rain is considered as a symbol of romance in Japan.
This kinda proves that romance is present in this scene.
And then finally this.
Tumblr media
ANOTHER SHOUJO TROPE. THE CLOSE-UP EYES!
These eyes literally says it all. It's like Tae saying I'll wait for you and when you come back, I'll happily welcome you and then we can go back to those old days. Just like how Shinpachi said.
And I think, this is the very first and the only time, Sensei used this gesture. And this is just too much for me to not ignore it!
The way Kondou looks at Tae while talking to her, it almost feels like he's telling her to not look so sad. Like I've mentioned before, Kondou wants to see her smile. And i think, in this scene it's crushing for him to see her with such a sad smile on her face. That is the last thing he wants to see. That's why he said he wanted to see her react the way she always did. And Tae not acting like that and instead showing such emotions towards him, it's too overwhelming. Just think how Kondou would be feeling there. Tae seeing him off, her eyes glistening while she sees him walk away but also waits for his arrival in the near future, its simply poetic.
The reunion between these two is as funny as ever, Kontae was back in its own color. When Okita said Kondou was always okay with their usual type of setting, he meant to say that Kondou was happy in those old days. That's what he said in the FS arc, he wanted to see her in her usual self, no sad face, no crying, just a happy Otae who loves to beat the crap outta him but also respects him. Things really were pretty intense in the SA and FS arcs but I don't think Sensei wanted to continue this for long. It was like Sensei saying, we're back to the old days, happy days. The Silver Soul arc and the ongoing arc isn't as intense as these two arcs and that's what Sensei wants to say "we're back to those good ol' day". But that doesn't mean he threw away all those meaningful moments between these two; it was so heavily implied. Just because of a troll scene, one cannot disregard the whole development and say "it was never there" because of course there was something which was very much visible to the viewers/readers, even if it isn't present now doesn't mean it was all a joke or just some i-just-wrote-it-but-now-it-doesnt-mean-anything bullshit. Yeah, the ship isn't canon but that also doesn't mean it sank. I mean, Kondou is not gonna marry that gorilla anymore so....
Imo, KonTae is the only ship in Gintama where romantic feelings are implied from both the sides. It really didnt look unrequited. It's not only Kondou or Tae, it's both of them and both of them have actually shown interest in each other in a way which I won't say is completely ambiguous. The FS arc was the part where it is shown how far their relationship has come and how they have come to learn and respect each other, maybe even love each other. I'm not forcing these ideas on anybody, these are facts and I'm sure even non-shippers must have noticed these moments as well. Honestly, the romantic implications were heavy here, the scenes, the dialogues, the "Take care" which is just too beautiful to not to be ignored. Even if I don't see canon pairings happening here, I still somehow hope for this ship.
My love for Gintsu is eternal but Kontae, this is the only ship where I feel like has come a lot far. And even other characters have mentioned their relationship and in a serious note. Check all those subtle hints, pick up the whole FS arc, it's there. A relationship that started with a gag but now is fully developed where I can see loads of potential. It's a ship that's been here from the very beginning of the series and it didn't look rushed at all. Another universe of how I met your mother lol.
People can ship whatever they like and I'm really not trying to push my thoughts onto anybody here.
But KonTae, this ship is no gag or joke and it deserves more love.
It's stupid, it's hilarious, it's beautiful and it's properly developed and that's why I fell for this ship so hard.

Kagura’s birthday fic 2018 (chapter 4)
Pairings: Okikagu, Soyoshin
Rating: T for bad language
Disclaimer: I don't own Gintama or its characters, Sorachi Hideaki does. I only own this story.
Author’s notes: I have a link to my fanfiction masterlist on my profile. Please check it out for more chapters and fics!
Chapter 4 – First kisses taste the sweetest, but those are only the beginning
Kagura watched as the man disappeared from her sight and she huffed a little. ”Damn those madaos without anything better to do,” she said and glanced at Sougo who was standing behind her. He was surprisingly silent, but his eyes were doing all the talking for him.
Kagura realized that she hadn't let go of his hand. She felt flustered and quickly loosened her grip on him. His crimson orbs were still strictly on her. ”Uh, sorry...” she mumbled.
”Are you apologizing for holding my hand or letting go of it?”
”Huh?” Kagura gasped and turned to fully face him. She was feeling even more flustered after his question. ”I-I...”
Sougo laughed a little. ”I'm kidding China, calm down”, he teased.
Kagura rolled her eyes at him and smiled bashfully. She knew they were both fully aware of the situation. Before that random man, they were inches away from kissing.
Kagura felt her legs getting tired from all the running and standing around. She rubbed her calf on her right leg and grunted a little.
”Are you okay China? Did you hurt yourself?”
”Ah, no. I just need to rest my legs, yes.”
There was a dry spot under the bridge. Sougo watched as Kagura walked past him and settled down on the dirt. ”Do you want to sit down-aru?” she asked as she stretched out her feet.
Sougo shook his head. ”I'm good”, he said and leaned against the foot of the bridge.
”Okay”, Kagura said and fiddled with her fingers. She felt frustrated, the tension of the intimate moment was still lingering in the air, but Kagura didn't know how to get back into it.
”You know China, I want to confess something to you”, Sougo spoke all of a sudden, breaking the unbearable silence and drawing her full attention.
Kagura swallowed and tried to keep her voice as calm as possible. ”Yes?”
”When hime-sama invited me to be your date, I said yes without really thinking about it.”
”O-oh?” Kagura said and stared into his eyes.
”The truth is, I've really wanted to go on a date with you,” he said, emphasizing the last word intentionally.
”Well why haven't you asked me stupid?” Kagura asked and blushed.
Sougo laughed. ”Think about it China, you would've said no and told me to launch myself into space.”
He was right, not in a million years would she have said yes. Kagura had always held their bond important, but all the bickering and fighting came first, overshadowing everything else. ”You have a point there, uh-huh.”
”Anyway, then I tried to think how to make the date nice and everything. So, I planned the bet.”
”You had that ready? How were you so sure that I would agree to the bet?”
Sougo cocked an eyebrow and smiled. ”China...it's you, winning is what drives you.”
”And food-aru!”
”Yes, food too.”
He knew her so well. Kagura tried to feel a little agitated by him and failed instantly. She smiled for him. ”I guess.”
”Then I tried my hardest to treat you nicely at the restaurant and-”
”Wait!” Kagura interrupted him. ”Are you saying, that for you, our fake date was all...like...real?”
”Yes.”
”You're so twisted Sadist,” Kagura said as her heart jumped a cart-wheel. She had a hard time taking in all the new exiting information. Then she giggled.
”What are you laughing China?”
”It's just that, maybe I forgot the bet because in reality you weren't being fake about anything. Maybe I felt it coming from your heart, yes.”
Sougo smiled widely at her words. ”Maybe.”
”You're so stupid, uh-huh”, Kagura stated. Sougo laughed and shook his head.
Despite the warmness she felt from his words, Kagura felt the cold night air surrounding her again. She hugged her legs to warm herself up. Sougo's eyes shifted from jolly to worried instantly. He stepped in front of her and kneeled down. Kagura felt him testing the skin on her arms and legs.
”You're freezing China.”
”A little yeah.”
”A little my ass, you had your bare feet in cold water and you don't have enough clothes on. And where are your shoes?”
”Well I wasn't planning on running around Edo so late at night, okay!”
Kagura stared at Sougo, who wasn't worried anymore, he looked like he felt guilty.
”So this is indirectly my fault.”
”Well no, I didn't say that dummy!”
”But it is my fault.”
Kagura didn't know what to say to him, he was dead serious about everything he said.
Sougo stood up and sighed a little. ”I can't really do much to warm you up, but I'll do what I can.”
”It's okay, I'll get over it and-” Kagura's words drowned at the instant she saw what he was about to do. Sougo opened his shirt and stripped it off. Just like that, he was half-naked. Kagura's eyes were wider than the moon. Her whole face flushed bright red, but she couldn't take her eyes off him.
Kagura knew he trained meticulously and it showed. His bare upper body was fit and firm, certainly inviting to her. ”Y-you you, what are you..?” she stuttered.
Sougo lowered himself to her level and looked into her ocean blue eyes. He wrapped his shirt over her. ”Sorry if it's still a little damp, but I don't have anything else.”
Kagura grasped the shirt resting over her. She pulled it tighter around her and the clothing felt perfectly warm to her. ”Th-thank you.”
Sougo smiled a little and got back up. He returned to his spot next to the foot of the bridge.
The situation felt surreal, but dammit it made her heart race. He had given her his ”jacket”, he had wanted to go on a date with her, he hadn't faked anything. All of those things made her heart truly wild, but she was pretty sure his lack of clothes had something to do with her rapid heartbeat. Kagura smiled and fumbled the soft fabric of his shirt.
Sougo sneezed a little and Kagura realized she wasn't the only one who had stood in the cold water. He must be freezing too, dammit, Kagura thought to herself. ”Oi Sadist!”
Sougo lifted his gaze. ”Mmh?”
Kagura took his shirt off her and offered it back to him. ”You're freezing too and this belongs to you, yes.”
”I don't need it, it's not that cold”, Sougo said and crossed his arms over his bare chest.
”Stop being so stubborn dummy, take it!”
”No!” Sougo huffed, but Kagura saw him shivering behind his words.
Kagura picked herself up and forcefully shook the clothing in front of him. ”Take it!”
Sougo sighed and took couple of leaps to get to her. He grabbed the shirt and wrapped it back around her. He pulled it tightly around her. ”You need it more than I do dumbass.”
Kagura frowned, she felt giddy because of his selflessness, but she felt annoyed from his constant stubbornness. Luckily, she had an idea. ”Let's share it then.”
”What?”
Sougo kept the shirt firmly closed over her, but somehow Kagura managed to wiggle her hands out. He observed as Kagura's fingers wrapped around his wrists. She looked up into his eyes and lured his eyes to her with a gentle smile.
”Let's share it, yes.”
Without saying anything else, Kagura returned to sitting position, clumsily pulling Sougo down with her. He almost fell, but Kagura kept him in balance. Sougo was on his knees in front of the smiling Kagura. She was happily sitting on her butt, still holding his wrists.
”Sit next to me,” Kagura said and released his hands.
Sougo knew refusing would only lead into a brawl and neither was really in the mood for that. He crouched next to her and sat down on his butt. Kagura didn't waste any time and threw his shirt over both of their shoulders.
The clothing covered them both only if they sat right next to each other, arms in full contact. His skin felt really cold and Kagura wanted to warm him up. As both settled down on a comfortable position their eyes locked again. Kagura's blush was still there and his face wasn't exactly colorless either.
She turned to look down on her lap. ”Are you feeling any warmer Sadist?”
”...”
”Sadist?” she asked and looked at him.
”...”
”Hellloooo!” she called
”Uh, yeah. I am, but...” he mumbled and seemed to be a little hesitant to speak.
”But what?”
”It's just that...” Sougo said and looked at her from the corner of his eye. ”Can you come closer?”
Kagura's mouth gaped open a bit. ”Closer? How?”
”Like this,” Sougo said and moved the arm closer to Kagura. He lifted it up and rested his fingers on her shoulder. ”Come here.”
He didn't have to tell her twice. Kagura nudged closer to Sougo as his hand tried to reach her other shoulder over her back. Kagura rested her head against his smooth chest. She kept her hands strictly on her lap, just thinking about touching him made her head spin.
Sougo's hand found the shoulder it was looking for and he pulled her as close as possible. His skin felt amazing against her cheek, soothing and sexy at the same time. Kagura felt his small gestures, he stroked her shoulder with his fingers, he rested his chin on her head, he adjusted the shirt to cover her better, she felt all of that.
That was it for her, she yearned to kiss him and nobody was going to stop her. ”Sadist?” she whispered against his skin.
”What is it China?”
Kagura clenched one of her fists loosely and softly pressed it against his chest. She pushed herself off him a little bit and tilted her head upwards. Sougo had to pull his head back as she changed her position.
Sougo studied her eyes, she had a mysterious glow in them. Kagura parted her lips and her heart felt fiery. ”So-Sougo?”
Never ever had this happened before. Sougo's eyes widened, he clearly wasn't expecting that. Kagura wanted to use his name to throw him off a little, so she could finally make her move.
Kagura leaned closer to his lips, leaving maybe an inch or two between them. His lips parted instantly. Before closing the distance, Kagura gave him a look that made him clench his other hand into a fist.
Kagura felt his heavy breaths on her lips and she knew he would kill anyone who dared to interrupt them again. She closed her eyes slowly and with the smallest movement their lips found each other.
It felt so good to kiss him. His lips were soft and full, just perfect for kissing. Kagura felt the rush all over her skin, she unclenched her fist on his chest and spread her fingers wide and open against him.
Kagura pulled away from the tender kiss to breathe a little. She opened her eyes and saw his still shut close. Slowly with few drowsy blinks his eyes opened too. Their eyes connected instantly. Kagura sucked her lips a little, just to taste him again and Sougo could only watch.
”So, h-” Kagura began.
”Shh...” Sougo hushed her calmly. He relaxed his other hand and brought it up to Kagura's face. Sougo slid the hand on her neck. She gasped at the contact, she didn't know her neck was so sensitive, but she wasn't complaining. ”Come here,” he husked and his tone sent a jolt right down her spine.
Sougo pulled her to meet his lips again. Kagura found herself surrendering to his whims quite easily. So annoying, but so irresistable. Tasting him again even made her skin tingle, like kissing him was magical.
The second kiss was eager but tender enough to make her heart melt. Sougo pulled back from the kiss and opened his eyes. Kagura slid her eyes open as well. He was still there, almost on her lips, just heavily breathing into her mouth.
Sougo brushed his lips against hers a little more, just to get a small nibble. Kagura watched him with half-lidded eyes, torn between wanting more and not wanting to rush things any further. ”I...” she breathed and not quite sure what to say next.
He seemed to read her like a book. Sougo dropped his hand off her neck and tucked her back to rest against him. Kagura felt his chin on the top of her head again and it made her smile. He didn't want to rush anything either. Then he snickered a little. ”You used my name China.”
”No I didn't, your hearing sucks, yes.”
”Yes you did.”
”Shut up...”
A little banter on top of their first kiss, it felt just right for the both of them. Sougo grabbed Kagura's other hand, the one still on her lap and claimed it as his. He interlaced their fingers and held their hands over his thigh.
”China?” Sougo asked quietly.
”Mmh?”
”Happy birthday.”
Kagura hummed as an answer. It had been one hell of a rollercoaster of emotions today, but dammit if it wasn't her best birthday, she didn't know what was.
The night was still young and Kagura didn't know what the time was. Still, the day had taken a toll on her in many ways and she felt her eyelids getting heavier by the second. She felt warm in his arms, she felt safe in his arms, she felt like just him being there could lull her to sleep.
”I had fun, I really did. Thank you...mmh...Sou...go...” Kagura mumbled before she fell into a deep slumber. Kagura began snoring in his arms and Sougo shook his head with an overjoyed smile.
”Who falls asleep right after kissing for the fist time...you're such a weirdo Kagura,” Sougo said and chuckled a bit.
*
*
Few hours later, Kagura woke up. Her surroundings were very dark, but very familiar. She rubbed her eyes and sat up. After her eyes got used to the darkness, she began to recognize everything around her. She was in her closet, she was at home.
Kagura usually slept in her pyjamas, but for some reason she had a short white cheongsam on. ”What the hell happened last night...” Kagura asked herself. Then she put her brain to work.
It didn't take long for everything to come back, the date, the bridge, the kiss. Kagura slapped both of her hands over her mouth and blushed fiercely. ”I kissed Sadist...and he kissed me...oh shit...”
After the brief embarrassment, Kagura felt her heart fluttering at the memory. It was totally unexpected, but at the same time, the most natural thing that had happened in her life. Now to the burning question in Kagura's mind. ”How did I get home and where is he?”
Kagura decided to ask Gintoki, maybe he would know something. She slid her closet door open and snuck out of her room. It was still very quiet at the Yorozuya. She could see through the windows that it was still early, the sun hadn't even risen yet.
A soft snoring sound attracted Kagura's attention. She saw someone sleeping on the couch. It wasn't that rare for Gintoki to pass out on the couch after some drinking and gambling. But there was something different about this snoring.
Kagura walked next to the sleeping person under a white blanket and her eyes darted at the flaxen-hair. Her eyes lit up immediately. It was Sougo, no doubt about it. Kagura smiled and sat softly on the edge of the couch. She wanted to ask him about how they had ended up at the Yorozuya, but she didn't want to interrupt his sleep.
Sougo mumbled something in his sleep and rolled on his back. He was so cute, so kissable. Kagura covered her face with her hands for thinking about kissing him again. She breathed for a moment and dropped her hands. Then she turned to look at Sougo again.
Kagura was temped to touch him. Maybe just a little bit, she convinced herself. She leaned her hand over his face. With feather-light touch she pushed his hair back.
”Oi, it's a little rude to touch a sleeping person?” a smug voice of Okita Sougo said.
Kagura startled and pulled her hand back with the speed of light. Sougo muffled his laughter with his blanket. He slowly dragged his eyes open, still looking sleepy as hell. ”Well you weren't apparently sleeping, were you now?” Kagura snarked.
”Don't be so loud China,” he said. ”Danna is still sleeping.”
”Oh...” she said and nervously played with her fingers.
She dodged his eyes, it wasn't a good idea to get too mesmerized by them. ”So...care to explain what are you doing here?”
Sougo slid his hands under is head. ”To put it simple, you fell asleep at the bridge so I carried you here on my back.”
Kagura's eyes darted to him. ”You carried me-aru?”
”Of course, I wasn't going to leave you there.”
”Thanks-aru.”
”No problem,” he said and smiled a little. ”Anyways, when we got here Danna was still up.”
”Oh no...”
”Right. He almost skinned me alive because you had my shirt over you and...well Danna's imagination did it's thing.”
”Gin-chan has a dirty mind, he can't help it, yes.”
”When he finally believed me that nothing happened between us-”
”Nothing?”
Sougo looked at the innocent Kagura asking a stupid question. He lifted himself halfway-up to rest on his elbows. ”Don't be silly China, I prefered to keep my life over telling Danna the truth.”
Kagura smiled. ”Good, I just wanted to confirm that Gin-chan doesn't know anything, nothing else, uh-huh.”
”Sure, okay China,” Sougo snickered quietly.
”Moving on. Why are you still here?”
”Danna told me to sleep on the couch because it was so late and he didn't want the Shinsengumi to be all over his poor-ass if something would happen to me.”
”What an earth could happen to you, you're an almost unbeatable bastard.”
Sougo sat up fully and stroked one of Kagura's arm. ”Thanks China.”
”I said almost,” she snorted but couldn't hide her smile.
”China...?” he called softly, his voice making her heart jump. Sougo gathered her hair and pushed it to rest on her other shoulder. His fingers made her neck tickle as he consciously brushed them against her skin.
Sougo kissed her shoulder through her cheongsam. He planted kisses like he was making a trail, a trail leading to her neck. Thankfully she had her high-collared cheongsam, otherwise she wouldn't be able to keep herself in check.
”Mmh...what are you doing?” she almost moaned.
”Nothing...” he murmured.
Kagura grunted like she was bothered by him. ”Oh really...”
Sougo laughed in between his kisses. He leaned higher to kiss her jaw line and lower cheek. Kagura had closed her eyes as soon as his lips had touched her, it was easier to concentrate like that. Sougo placed his other hand on her cheek. She felt him guiding her closer to him.
Kagura opened her eyes and saw him looking at her, eyes hungry and inviting. She licked her lips once and allowed him to pull her into a kiss. The kiss was just as good she remembered.
She didn't know was it her or him, but they sort of began to descent on the couch. Maybe he pulled her a little or maybe she pushed him, maybe both. Kagura found herself crouching over him, letting her bodyweight softly push him against the couch.
Sougo grunted into their kiss as his back hit the couch, making Kagura's kisses more demanding. His hands settled on her waist and Kagura's were on his neck. She rested her body over his, which he wasn't resisting at all.
Kagura broke their kiss to take a breath. Both narrowly opened their eyes to gaze one another. Sougo's lips were parted and ready for her to continue. Kagura swallowed and leaned on to his lips.
She knew that kissing involved tongues and she wanted to see how it worked. First Kagura licked his lip to get a taste. She closed her eyes and sort of kissed his upper lip. Then she nibbled his lower lip, still figuring out what to do with her tongue.
Luckily, Sougo was more than happy to help her. As Kagura was about to nibble on his lip, he copied her action. Kagura dragged her fingers to loosely cup his cheeks. She felt his tongue as he gently  kissed her lower lip. It was Kagura's turn to copy him and she began to get the hang of it.
Kissing was like eating something super delicious. The craving only grew the more they did it. In the midst of it all, their tongues touched. Kagura couldn't hold her moan in, so she had to release it into their kiss. She wanted more of that feeling, more of the exciting sensation his tongue gave her.
Kagura still didn't want to rush with things too much, but she couldn't help herself, the temptation was too great. The dancing of their tongues continued and Kagura felt Sougo's hands roam around her waist, stroking and squeezing her.
Out of nowhere, a crack of the wooden floor froze both Sougo and Kagrua still. Their eyes opened up and Kagura's head popped up to listen closely. The noises were coming from Gintoki's room, slow footsteps, a yawn, lazy scratching sounds.
”Shit,” Kagura gritted.
Sougo still wanted to live another day, he understood what would happen if Gintoki saw them right now. Swiftly as hell, Sougo managed to plant a hand over Kagura's mouth, lunge himself into a sitting position while Kagura was still on him. She felt his muscles tense up as he lifted both of them. Kagura knew there wasn't time to get excited for something like that, but who could blame her. Sougo reached for the blanket and pulled it over both of them.
Before Kagura could fully understood everything he did, she found herself under the blanket, curled into a fetus position right next to Sougo. His head was outside of the blanket and all he did to communicate was to softly press a finger against her lips under the blanket.
Gintoki came out of his room and yawned loudly. He walked by the couch and found Sougo, sleeping on his side, comfortably burrowed with his blanket. Gintoki had decided earlier that he would kick the tax-robber out before the dawn. He looked so calm and harmless sleeping like that, so Gintoki left him alone.
Sougo and Kagura listened as Gintoki disappeared into the bathroom. Both sighed silently. Kagura didn't see Sougo's face under the blanket, but she saw something else. He still didn't have his shirt. That perfect abdomen was there right in front of her eyes.
Kagura bit her lip and traced her fingers on his abs. Not a second after, Sougo's hand grabbed her by the wrist. She startled a little, why was he so quick to reject her touch. Then Kagura noticed him lifting one finger at her. He signed her a sharp 'no-no' and she almost couldn't hold in her giggle. Maybe it was hard to act like a sleeping person if someone was fondling him under the covers, Kagura thought.
Gintoki returned from the bathroom and walked right back into his bedroom. It didn't take long for him to start snoring again. Sougo dived fully under the blanket to meet up with Kagura. Both felt relieved for not getting caught red-handed.
”That was close, yes.”
”Sure was, you were being too loud China.”
”Huh! No I wasn't-”
Sougo shut her rambling up with another kiss. She giggled into his mouth and kissed him back. Sougo cupped her cheeks and she latched her fingers on to his neck. They were in their own little bubble under the blanket, but both knew they couldn't be there for long.
Kagura forced herself to break their kiss. She took in a few calming breaths and prepared to act rationally. ”I think you should go home Sadist, Gin-chan won't be sleeping forever-aru.”
Sougo stroked her cheeks as his eyes studied every inch of her face. ”I know.”
”Yup, let's get up now, yes.”
”...”
”...” Kagura waited for him to answer something. His eyes sulked a little and Kagura couldn't deny that she was feeling exactly the same as him.
”I don't want you to go either-aru.”
Sougo hummed. ”I didn't know you can be that cute China.”
”Oi bastard, what do you mean by that?”
”Jeez, you're too easy tease,” Sougo murmured. Then he pulled her into a hug. ”You've always been cute, a weirdo definitely but a cute weirdo.”
Kagura huffed as she wasn't even slightly amused by him, but he knew she was blushing like a fire truck.
”So China, a quick question.”
”What?”
”Do you want to go on a real date with me?” His voice was so casual that it annoyed her as much as it flattered her.
”But we are rivals, yes?”
”So?”
”Is it even allowed to date a rival?”
”I don't really care what other people think, I just care about what you think.”
”Well, I don't think Gin-chan and papi are ready for that.”
”So, you're declining the date. Do I launch myself to space now?”
”No stupid, I actually have an idea.”
”I'm all ears China.”
”Let's say to everyone that we are having a fake date competition, uh-huh,” Kagura suggested and tilted her head to look at Sougo.
He looked at her back an smiled. ”But it's really not huh?”
”Yeah.”
”That sound really lame you know.”
”Well...why don't you suggest something you-”
”Did I say I wouldn't agree to it?” Sougo asked to stop her rambling. He hugged her a little tighter. ”I think it sound perfect.”
Kagura hugged him back and smiled. ”Good-aru.”
*
*
It took a minute more for Sougo and Kagura to get up from the warm couch. The sun rose and it was now or never if they wanted to escape Gintoki's watchful eye. Sougo found his shirt and was ready to go back to the compound.
Kagura walked him out of the Yorozuya. She closed the door behind  them and turned to look at Sougo. She tapped her hands on the sides of her thighs and smiled awkwardly. She didn't know how to send him off, how does one send off a rival/bastard/sadist/kissing-partner/fake-but-not-really-dating-contestant. So confusing.
”So...” Kagura mumbled.
”Yeah, I guess I go home then.”
”Yup.”
”Yup.”
”Yupyup, go now, yes.”
Sougo grinned at her tsundere demeanor. He took one of her nervous hands and lifted it up to his chin. Kagura stiffened a little, what if someone saw them, how could she explain it to anyone. He clearly didn't care at all.
”See you later...” Sougo said and planted a soft kiss on her palm. ”...Kagura.” With that he let go of her hand and began to walk down the stairs.
”Wait.”
Sougo turned to look at the tomato-red Kagura.
”S-see you, S-soda-kun,” Kagura grinned.
”Oooh, thank you so very much for that China, really appreciate it.”
”Anything for you,” Kagura snarled, and thought did she really mean that.
”Later,” Sougo said and went on his way.
Kagura watched him for a moment longer before returning inside.
Inside the Yorozuya hallway was a silver-haired madao, arms crossed over his chest and a grumpy look on his face. ”Morning Kagura-chan.”
Kagura jumped a little from surprise. ”Oh! Morning Gin-chan.”
”Where's Souichiro-kun?”
”I just threw him out for being godly annoying-aru.”
”Good, good. I would have done it myself, but you beat me to it.”
”Uh-huh, so what's for breakfast Gin-chan?”
Meanwhile, a young lady and dashing glasses were eating dango for breakfast in the Kabuki district, actually not too far from the Yorozuya shop. To be more specific, the dango shop had a perfect view to the Yorozuya's balcony. And not too long ago, on that balcony was a certain pair of people seeming to be quite intimate with each other.
Shinpachi crossed his arms and shook his head in disbelief.
Soyo giggled at him. ”I told you Shin-chan, didn't I?”
”Yes you did, I always thought they were both too chickens to act on their feelings.”
”They just needed a little push to the right direction,” Soyo said.
Shinpachi took Soyo's hand and interlaced their fingers together. ”You're such a good friend sweetie.” Shinpachi's words were rewarded with a giggle and a soft peck on the cheek.

Seiyuu YouTube Excursion (May 30th)
You know, I’m probably annoying all those people that follow me who follow for other stuff... oh well, this is a spam blog (if you didn’t already know).
I wanted to include one more video until I realized there was a five-video limit (stupid). The extra video is a Hinamatsuri “Guess the Vase Price!”. Let’s just say, I was really surprised at the price. Hinamatsuri is an anime I highly recommend. If you like Mob Psycho 100, you might like Hinamatsuri!
Seiyuu Being Stupid there’s a playlist for this!
Sumire Uesaka (Sumipe) is known for being a huge fan of Russia, guns, tanks, and other stuff. She does... what she wants.
[0:12] I haven’t tried real wasabi. Most restaurants around here use green-coloured horseradish, but I’m a wimp when it comes to spice. I would die too.
[0:40] Fun fact: I’m that idiot who has tried drinking tea while it was still 80-100 degrees C. I also tried eating a fresh soup dumpling. Long story short, I live life on the edge because I’m stupid.
[1:00] They just got Ume to admit he’s an ikemen.
[1:15] This is a Servant x Service event (wasn’t labelled and is kind of important since you’re trying to decipher which pixel is who)
[2:00] That’s probably the better of his self-introductions
[2:02] It’s moments like these where I wonder how any of us guys and peeps have survived on this planet. For context, @akaskira Hosoya nearly lit himself on fire.
[2:35] is... something... you know they hired these people for their voices and not their physical physique some of the time.
[3:28] this is a good introduction. I have tried doing this in the mirror except with a Lucario aura sphere kamekamehabitch
[3:33] This is me trying to steal food from people. I like squid too.
youtube
This Hosoya imitation by Mamo is pretty good. Side Note:  - A lot of this can be taken out of context. - Mamo has such a good Hosoya imitation that I was actually wondering whether he practiced it (especially since they’re always cast together) - Yes, I went on Anemone’s Livestream and said to sub BSD Radio and sent them a full 12-hour playlist or something. I can’t remember. - Nana Mizuki has stated that Mamo doesn’t carry the balanced meals with him and often has convenient store foodstuff (that probably isn’t the most nutritious). She says that she offers to share her organic stuff to “maintain his physique”. Meanwhile, I’m eating my third slice of cake and a slice of pie and wondering where I went wrong in life.
youtube
I couldn’t make it through watching Devilman: Crybaby, but it’s sure interesting knowing some behind-the-scenes stuff. I thought they were going to make Megumi Han reenact the iconic backstab scene. But it’s good to know that even a seasoned voice actor like Uchi got called back for retakes 25 times for one line.
youtube
Sasukaji. The BNHA ladies are indeed gang leaders. Marina Inoue laughs at Kaji-sama. Todo-sama is still the joke amongst the BNHA cast. Don’t get me wrong though, the dub cast has some really funny stuff too.
“Beat the shit out of him” - All Might to Midoriya about Bakugou
youtube
I’m saving the best for last. I’m putting the last name then first name which is contrary to most of my posts.
Sorachi is the usual hilarious guy he is.
Summary (but seriously, just watch it):
“Kugimiya-san took time out of her busy schedule to make the event exciting! I look forward to reading her new blog! I’m often enraptured by your wonderful site.”
"And those other usual guys whose names I didn’t bother to put down, just because you voiced somewhat popular characters, you’re misunderstanding that the fans are screaming for you.”
“It’s fine if you want to pretend to be celebrities and start a blog or Twitter, but if you say anything bad about Gintama or me, I will end your career. You guys will just write crappy posts that nobody else would read, but I will check them! What the fans and I want isn’t you, but Sakamoto Maaya’s cooking. *massive applause* Or, news that you got divorced, I hope you won’t forget.”
“It’s all thanks to you and Sakamoto Maaya. Actually, 9/10, it’s thanks to hearing Sakamoto Maaya’s songs.”
“Say anything bad and I’ll find you.”

A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away…Episode 166 Part 1
Episode Title: Two Is Better Than One. Two People Are Better Than One (the Sunrise staff really hammering it in with that title: we get it, Gintoki and Hijikata are better together than alone...no need to repeat the title twice. Lmao)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY 100 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 166 (no manga equivalent):
BLESS THE ANIME STAFF FOR THIS EPISODE!!!! Ok, this is the RIGHT way to go rogue from the manga! Omg, whoever thought of this episode and approved of it and created it, BLESS THEM, I want to kiss them, I love them forever. I didn’t quite have 100 fave moments, just like, close to HALF of that, so I had to split this episode into two posts. I know, I went overboard, I don’t care. I love this episode so much and since there was no manga equivalent, this is the only chance I’ll have to worship it. So if you’re not into Gintoki/Hijikata (or Hijikata/Gintoki) in the way that I am, I advise you to just skip this post and part 2 because you’re going to be very nauseated by my fangirling. You have been warned. Proceed at your own risk.
Tumblr media
1) Things started out innocuous enough: just another stake-out ep involving Hijikata and Okita this time, with Sougo clearly hard at work.
Tumblr media
2) And then this happened and I probably screamed a little in excitement first time I watched this, but just a little only cuz I would’ve had no idea how glorious the episode would turn out to be.
Tumblr media
3) Gin-chan seemed like some angry wife trying to pick a fight with his husband.
Tumblr media
4) Of course I got a little more happy by this point at how Gintoki couldn’t seem to leave Toshi alone and even got a little handsy with him.
Tumblr media
5) Gintoki obviously just wanted to get like REALLY close to Hijikata.
Tumblr media
6) It is seriously a crime against humanity that they didn’t just kiss in this moment.
Tumblr media
7) Out of context, this was very suggestive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8) HIjikata slammed him against the wall. I’ve seen this scenario happen in GinHiji doujins...which usually ended in the same sexy way.
Tumblr media
9) At this point I just thought this development was rather amusing, no big deal, Gintoki was pretty much asking to be arrested anyway...
Tumblr media
10) ...and then THIS happened and I was like OMG NO FUCKING WAY cuz really, what is the LOGIC of Hijikata handcuffing himself to Gintoki?? I mean, in normal police situations, wouldn’t he be handcuffing BOTH of Gintoki’s OWN hands, or like handcuffing him to a nearby pipe or some other fixture? It made absolutely no sense that he would instead handcuff his suspect to himself but I LOVED IT SO DAMN MUCH THAT HE DID IT.
Tumblr media
11) I just about lost what little mind I had left right about here.
Tumblr media
12) BLESS THIS MAN. I love Sougo SO MUCH. Obviously he ships GinHiji as much as I do.
Tumblr media
13) He even tripped the two of them so that they would land together all cute like on the ground.
Tumblr media
14) I absolutely believe Okita meant for Hijikata to use that as lube. NO ONE CAN CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE.
Tumblr media
15) Look at them...anyone walking by at that moment would think the two of them were up to something kinky in the alley.
Tumblr media
16) I just like the fact that Hijikata thinks of Gintoki as master of anything of him.
Tumblr media
17) Wonder which particular throbby vein was he referring to on Hijikata? Lololol.
Tumblr media
18) They’re holding hands for the first time!
Tumblr media
19) Against, total crime that there was no kissing involved.
Tumblr media
20) Hijikata’s doing a TOSSHI POSE!!!!
Tumblr media
21) Gintoki’s reaction to Hijikata asking for his help. Lmfao.
Tumblr media
22) Again, BLESS SOUGO.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
23) That was not suggestive AT ALL.
Tumblr media
24) Ok, I’m actually amazed I noticed this since you’d think my attention would be totally focused on Gintoki and Hijikata but the anime staff weirdly reused some characters in the background as the two of them were walking down the street: the two whispering women, the bald old man, and then the couple. What’s even weirder is that they changed the clothing on the bald old man and the couple, but not whispering women. It’s like they purposefully looped the background but noticeably poorly just to see if we were paying attention.
Tumblr media
25) I probably had to be committed from all the squealing I did but obviously I have no memory of my time in the asylum cuz they lobotomized me to calm me down.
TO BE CONTINUED IN PART 2....(already posted)

A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away…Lesson 703
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY 20 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 703 (spoilers):
When I read this chapter after it was first released a couple of weeks ago, I actually held it together pretty well since I was very satisfied with Takasugi’s end: he got as a heroic and noble a death as he could possibly ever have since he saved the world and his beloved Shouyou. I still feel satisfied, but maybe because 704 is coming out in just a few hours that I also felt especially vulnerable tonight because I was completely wrecked when I revisited this chapter. I cried so much I had to take a nap and now, it’s the middle of the night and I feel all screwed up. Too tired to sleep and yet too tired to really stay awake. I hope I end up making sense in my comments. I pretty much love this entire chapter, even more so after reading it again, even if I’m left in tears. I already miss Takasugi so much.
Tumblr media
1) I just love so much of the writing in this chapter. So beautiful.
Tumblr media
2) He’s so beautiful.
Tumblr media
3) I was so unbelievably relieved that the last chapter wasn’t the last we would ever see of Takasugi. So glad he was still present in Utsuro!
Tumblr media
4) I CHEERED. This was so good. So RIGHT.
Tumblr media
5) Just LOVE the three contrasting reactions here.
Tumblr media
6) I still can’t believe that Shinpachi and Kagura actually gets to meet Shouyou. In my wildest dreams I don’t think I EVER thought of this possibility but my gods am I glad we were blessed with this.
Tumblr media
7) I was really hoping it would stick this time.
Tumblr media
8) Omg, I loved Gintoki’s words here…
Tumblr media
9) …and here SO DAMN MUCH. This is where my tears started up.
Tumblr media
10) Omggg Gintoki’s eyes as the flashbacks are happening…it hurts me to even look at them now.
Tumblr media
11) Such a beautiful smile. The last time we will ever see such a beautiful smile.
Tumblr media
12) Even before the dust was settle, I knew Gintoki’s strike had to stick this time, and I was so relieved. It’s not the 10-on-1 pile up battle that I had hoped for, but it was still satisfying.
Tumblr media
13) Bless Shinpachi. I loved him so much for saying that to Shouyou.
Tumblr media
14) My heart almost couldn’t take this.
Tumblr media
15) I’m tearing up all over again right now! I really wanted to hug Shinpachi for saying all that to Shouyou.
Tumblr media
16) Loved that it was his sword.
Tumblr media
17) I think it was at this moment that I realized it finally was the end for Takasugi. I really don’t have much to say after this point…I think the scenes speak for themselves as to why I love them.
Tumblr media
18)
Tumblr media
19)
Tumblr media
20)
SHIPS TALLY:
Gintoki x Takasugi: for those who ship them, congratulations, I’m truly so happy for you, and also, my deepest, sincerest condolences. I wish I could give you all a big hug.

Gintama manga chap 703 (spoilers)
~
Dear Gintama gods and Sorachi-sama,
This is really the best ending Takasugi could have ever hoped for. I was preparing myself for his inevitable death, for probably quite some time now, and the certainty became more solidified after the last chapter, so I was ready to just weep at the tragedy of Takasugi’s death and all the painful emotional repercussions that Gintoki would have to bear as a result of it. I was expecting extreme sadness and tears, and yet right now, I mostly feel…satisfied and at peace. I am sad that Takasugi is no longer with us, I’ve been invested in him since his first appearance, but I am also glad that he died on his own terms in the way he wanted while obtaining full closure on his life.  For so long his goal has been to destroy the world that took away his Shouyou-sensei from him, but now not only was he able to restore his beloved teacher to the world but he also saved the world as well. In killing Utsuro, he also was able to finally do what he couldn’t in the past: save everyone that was precious to him, his beloved friends and comrades, both of the past and present.  It’s also beautiful that the last image he sees with his remaining eye is Gintoki smiling, which of course acts as a perfect counterbalance to the last image his ruined eye saw in the past which was Gintoki in tears. Full circle, complete closure. I am almost happy for him.
Would it have been nice if Henpeita and Matako and even Zura and Sakamoto got to see him one last time before he passed on? Naturally; it would have been lovely if each of them had an opportunity to offer their last words to him, but at the same time, if I really think about it, that really would have only served as closure for them, not Takasugi. Takasugi doesn’t need that. With Henpeita and Matako, when he left them two years ago, he had probably already made up his mind to never see them again. He has already closed the book of the Kiheitai in his life, I’d like to think he probably did it when Bansai died. That’s why he was able to leave them and carry out his personal mission these past two years without looking back once. With Zura and Sakamoto, they have already led completely separate lives, so their intertwining chapters have also been closed. What has always remained open were the chapters involving Gintoki and Shouyou, and therefore it is absolutely fitting that his last two people he would get to see and essentially say good-bye to would be just the two of them.
I can’t deny that a small part of me still wishes that Takasugi had survived so that he could live out the rest of his life with Shouyou now that he seemingly is back with the world. It would have definitely been a fairy-tale ending for Takasugi. But at the same time, I do understand that he doesn’t deserve such a happy ending since, despite the warmth we feel about him now, for the majority of Gintama, Takasugi has unquestionably been the villain. Most of his earlier plans were put into motion without any regard for the innocent lives that would be lost in the process. Just because he wasn’t completely successful since his schemes were thwarted, doesn’t make his intentions any less heinous. By your grace we have grown to love Takasugi and forgive him of all the questionable things he’s done because we know how much he has suffered internally, but that doesn’t mean his cosmic scales has been balanced. With this sacrificial act of his, I think his scales are more than balanced; they’ve probably been tipped into light. Takasugi died as a hero, in the arms of someone who is important to him. He could not have asked for a more noble and fulfilling death.
As for Utsuro, I still would’ve really loved to see a 10-on-1 pile up on him; if I have one complaint it would be that I wish the final fight against him could have lasted just a little bit longer and with more outside contribution (and I’m saying all that under the assumption that Utsuro is finally, truly dead), but in lieu of that, having Oboro make an appearance one last time and actually contribute to his death was a fair consolation prize. I must admit I don’t completely understand the sorcery involved that led to Utsuro being tricked and defeated—I can only gather it mostly had to do with Takasugi creating an illusion of Shouyou’s death when in fact he had stabbed himself, and thereby weakening Utsuro to the point where he can be killed—but I’m sure Gintama fans smarter than me will either figure it out so that it all makes sense or dismantle it to prove it doesn’t. Personally, I don’t think it matters anymore. After all, Utsuro’s defeat was a long time coming. If being stabbed by the entire gang and then melted in the Altana stream didn’t do it, then he might as well be felled by an illusion. I’m not going to lie and not say that the whole thing doesn't have a whiff of deux ex machina about it, but then again, you are the god in this machine so why not. I just hope that he is actually, truly, permanently gone this time and that all that remains is Shouyou, completely untainted by any of Utsuro’s darkness.  It would be nice if he still had a smidgen of Takasugi and Oboro in him, but I could live with Shouyou being just Shouyou. But please, Sorachi-sama, no force ghosts. I know you love Star Wars, but I hope you refrain from paying homage to it in that way. I’m fine with not seeing them lined up behind Shouyou. If you are going to give us any more ghosts, give us Bansai, leading Takasugi to the afterlife. In fact, I am still hoping we will get to see that in the next chapter.
I know the word is out that the next chapter will be your last, but I honestly wish it wasn’t. And I promise it’s not ONLY because I want to be in denial and I am being greedy: I know you have been MORE than generous with us, to ask for more is downright disgraceful at this point. But if you were to end everything by the next chapter, I just hope that you have a very long chapter planned, perhaps one that is at least a hundred pages long, including a meaty epilogue as well. I hope that you are not rushing to the end because of outside pressure. I know it’s odd of me to say that considering the time you have taken with this final arc, but so much of the last couple of chapters have just been our beloved characters running around and fighting, I hope you reserved time in the next chapter for some quiet, significant conversations. I am actually most concerned about Gintoki’s state of mind since he was once again forced to strike down someone he loves. I know he had Takasugi’s blessing and he at least got to say proper last words to him, not to mention this time, he didn’t do it under extreme duress, but the fact remains that Takasugi still died by his hands. I hope we have time to see how he will recover from this event, if he needs recovery at all, or if this has provided him with closure as well since it did seem that way. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more one chapter sounds woefully insufficient to cover everything. I can only continue to have faith in you as I always do, that you will give Gintama as noble and fulfilling an end as you have blessed Takasugi with.
Yours truly,
A silly fangirl with yaoi dreams

A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away...Episode 65
There was a title for this episode, but I have always thought of it as:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY 20 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 65 (manga chaps 83 and 84):
There was no godly way I could have just chosen 10 moments. I’m amazed I was able to limit it to just 20. Honestly, I loved every second of this episode so the 20 is but a representation of the whole. It’s definitely one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. It’s fun and funny, the Yorozuya and Shinsengumi are together, and the GinHiji and OkiKagu quotient was through the roof...what’s NOT to love?
Tumblr media
1) Sougo looking totally handsome as he made his cool entrance.
Tumblr media
2) Poor Kagura-chan: imagining her crying like this 27 times for the 27 beetles she had previously buried just broke my heart.
Tumblr media
3) I am a horrible person: I guffawed the first time I saw this since it was so unexpected and uber violent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4) This moment of absolute grossness with Kagura’s snot courtesy of the anime team.
Tumblr media
5) Yeah, this made me laugh too. I’m truly, truly horrible. I laugh cuz I love?
Tumblr media
6)  These two kids. Btw, Pocari Sweat looks like dirty water and TASTES like dirty water as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
7) These three forest elves sprites gorilla penis fairies.
Tumblr media
8) If I ever NOT love seeing Gintoki and Hijikata lay hands on each other, you will know I’ve been abducted by aliens and replaced with a soulless clone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
9) THEY HAVE A COMBO MOVE!!!!!! THEIR COLORS COMBINED!!!!
Tumblr media
10) Obviously Sougo is obsessed with Kagura.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
11) I wanted to start a Shinpachi Protection Squad because of this episode.
Tumblr media
12) Yorozuya on Yorozuya violence.
Tumblr media
13) A family that eats sokunbu out of spite together, stays together.
Tumblr media
14) This embodies everything that is adorable about Kagura.
Tumblr media
15a) And this is why...
Tumblr media
15b) ...she is The Queen...
Tumblr media
15c) ...while he is only a Prince.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
16) If I ever NOT love seeing Gintoki and Hijikata man-handle each other, you will know I’ve been murdered by someone and replaced with an inferior copy.
Tumblr media
17) They’re on a date.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
18) This is why I often think of Gintoki as being the seme instead of the uke.
Tumblr media
19) Gin-chan disciplining his two unruly children.
Tumblr media
20) RIP Rurimaru. You’ve served the shogun well.
SHIPS TALLY:
Gintoki x Hijikata: what am I? Deaf blind and dumb? Dead?
Tumblr media
Okita x Kagura: he touched her bare ankle. They HAVE to get married now.
Tumblr media
Shinpachi x Yamazaki: it felt like they were making a connection since they were the only two intelligent adults amongst a bunch of idiotic children.
Tumblr media
Gintoki x Kagura: they had this weird moment. Both of them looked like they aged into their 80s.
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just completely unbelievably amazing.  It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s immense generosity that I am able enjoy Gintama on an extra another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. GINTAMA IS LIFE AND LOVE.

A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away…Episode 163
Episode Title: The Black Ships Even Make A Scene When They Sink
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY 14 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 163 (manga chap 245):
Omg Tosshi’s ending really affected me tonight: I actually started crying. I don’t think I ever cried when I watched this episode before, but just lost it this time. Probably cuz I was already on the verge of a sobfest because of the other show I’d just finished (Guardian) so I was pretty much primed for tears. Thank the gods the Sunrise staff turned things around by the end of the episode otherwise I would’ve been in a pretty dark hole.
Tumblr media
1) I really loved how supportive everyone was of Tosshi and Shinpachi...and I loved Gintoki and Kagura’s cosplay, even though I never read Ashita no Joe.
Tumblr media
2) Hijikata’s sexy back.
Tumblr media
3) And here’s where I started crying because of the freaking sad music they used for this entire scene.
Tumblr media
4) Tosshi saying thank you to Hijikata got to me too.
Tumblr media
5) I mean, I do love Tosshi...or rather, Hijikata’s embodiment of him...and I would always be grateful to him for allowing me to love Hijikata even more, but I don’t think I’ve ever like CRIED over him before until tonight.
Tumblr media
6) Dear sweet Yamazaki.
Tumblr media
7) RIP Tosshi. (although, if memory serves, I think he pops up again one more time later on...or maybe that’s just Hijikata pretending to be him again...or was that just in my imagination? Guess I will see. Rewatching eps really helps jog my shitty memory)
Tumblr media
8) I love the Sunrise team.
Tumblr media
9) They tried. Man did they try.
Tumblr media
10) First time I watched this episode, I absolutely remember screaming “NOOOOOOO!” when they cut away to this shitshow. Thank goodness it was just a joke.
Tumblr media
11) Kagura insulting Gintoki for really no good reason whatsoever. So cute.
Tumblr media
12) Back then, the Bleach mention probably made me very happy. Now I just feel slightly nostalgic.
Tumblr media
13) And then THIS happened and I loved the Sunrise team even more: the gang reads a letter from a 4 year old who illustrated her favorite scene from the show so far. That 4 year old GETS IT.
Tumblr media
14) It’s a classic scene for me, Shinpachi-kun.
SHIPS TALLY:
Gintoki x Hijikata: I would’ve been PERFECTLY FINE if they filled 30 minutes with THIS type of randomness.

A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away…Episode 142
Episode Title: Life Is A Series Of Choices
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY 23 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 142 (manga chaps 217, 218 and 219):
Love this episode so much! My favorite ep of the arc and the best one, imo. While Gintoki’s fight with Housen later is quite awesome and brutal, in terms of emotional resonance, I have to give the win to Kagura and Shinpachi’s two-on-one face-off against Abuto. The brutality of their fight never fails to make me clench my teeth so hard that my jaw is usually achy by the end of it. I love every second of it and I wish it lasted longer.
Tumblr media
1) Bless this very human boy for trying to protect a powerful Yato girl from powerful Yato man.
Tumblr media
2) This moment of Yorozuya-on-Yorozuya violence was especially sweet since they were fighting over their protection of each other.
Tumblr media
3) I love this family.
Tumblr media
4) Tsukky being awesome and looking beautiful while doing it.
Tumblr media
5) Such a heart-wrenching yet amazing image, and so meaningful too since Tsukky got the strength to stand up because she remembered Gintoki’s words of encouragement.
Tumblr media
6) I always get teary-eyed even though I technically disagree with the whole throwing away their womanhood thing. I think they’re still complete women through and through even with their scares and their past and their duty.
Tumblr media
7) This fucking psycho rabbit. After watching V/H/S 2 and seeing that image of the bloody cult dude, I can never not think of that guy when I see this scene of Kamui now. Makes it that much more disturbing.
Tumblr media
8) Those poor women. I appreciate the muting of the colors in that moment but it really doesn’t lessen the brutality of Kamui’s actions.
Tumblr media
9) Abuto trying to bond with Kagura over her crazy brother’s abusive tendencies.
Tumblr media
10)  You know it’s going to be an awesome fight when they go wide-screen at the start.
Tumblr media
11) I think this is where my teeth clenching starts: you can totally tell that even though Kagura was putting all her strength into her swings and kicks, they were still barely doing anything to Abuto.
Tumblr media
12) I love Kagura. I want to grow up to be like her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
13) I worship our Queen so much.
Tumblr media
14) This and the noise and Kagura’s scream that resulted from it always makes me wince so hard that I actually get tears in my eyes. I could almost feel her pain from having her arm broken by Abuto.
Tumblr media
15) Again, bless this very human boy for even attempting something like that Would’ve been more effective if he aimed for Abuto’s head, but then that wouldn’t have been in character for him and that’s why Shinpachi is so lovable.
Tumblr media
16) In retrospect, considering the damage Abuto was inflicting on these two people that I love, it’s really amazing that he actually managed to redeem himself completely by the end of the fight.
Tumblr media
17) I feel a sympathy pain in my gut every time I see this scene. It’s nothing short of a miracle that Shinpachi’s internal organs were permanently damaged by what Abuto did to him.
Tumblr media
18) The moment when Kagura’s chains start coming undone.
Tumblr media
19) I clench down here too even though Abuto took the pulverization pretty well. Seriously how did he develop such a resilience to pain? I have to wonder just how abusive Kamui has been to him over the years.
Tumblr media
20) Holy fuck. I mean, what else can I say?
Tumblr media
21) And yet, I still hope we get to see this side of Kagura before it’s all over because she’s just so horrifyingly amazing in that condition. I mean, I hope she learns to control the bloodlust so she doesn’t lose herself completely, but I really want to see her going berserk again. Her and Kamui, going full berserker mode on Utsuro maybe. Omg that will be so freaking awesome!!!
Tumblr media
22) Dear sweet Abuto. He’s so helpless to this nutty Yato fam.
Tumblr media
23)  Last time someone tried to interfere with two Yatos fighting, one person got a hand through his chest and the other got his arm ripped clear off. Shinpachi is a truly brave soul.
Tumblr media
24) Yeah, I probably was destined to love Abuto right from the start. He basically forfeited his own safety in order to save Kagura and Shinpachi: he kicked pushed them onto a roof and made no attempt whatsoever to save himself. I love that even though he was set up as a villain, he still had this compassionate side to him. Reminded me of Bansai...which I guess was the point since both of them similarly and hopelessly devoted to two misguided yet endearing psychopaths.
SHIPS TALLY:
Gintoki x Tsukuyo: lotsa mutual feelings going on between them in this arc. I would have to be blind not to see the signs. They definitely made me fear for my OTP.
Tumblr media
Abuto x Kamui: I think it’s pretty fair to say they were pretty much canon from the get-go. It’s my fault for getting distracted with other ships for Kamui.
Tumblr media
Tsukuyo x Hinowa: the mutual feelings were strong for them too. I mean, heck, if Sorachi-sama were to refer to Gintoki and Hijikata as the sun and moon of Edo, I would freak the F out (even though, technically that would also mean they are destined to never be together other than during an eclipse like Isabeau and Navarre in Ladyhawke, but I’m just going to ignore that part).

A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away…Lesson 702
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY 13 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 702:
With chapter 704 looming nearer on the horizon, I figured it’s time that I play a little catch up for the last two chapters since I never picked out my favorite moments from each. After revisiting this chapter tonight, I was reminded again of how heart-broken I was when I first read it and I got a little weepy again…and I know it’s only going to get worse with the next chapter. I really should’ve spaced these two chapters out so that I’m not in a dark hole of gloom by the time 704 rolls around. Ugh.
Tumblr media
1) My heart started hurting for Takasugi just about here.
Tumblr media
2) Gintoki being hit by a piece of ceiling was so random it actually made me laugh.
Tumblr media
3) LOVED THIS. So meaningful and beautifully put by Takasugi about Gin-chan.
Tumblr media
4) I actually borrowed the corrected translation from @raphaelaan for this because the original translation didn’t make sense in the context of what Takasugi was saying about Gintoki (but of course I will always be eternally grateful to the scanlators…it was a minor mistake). Takasugi’s “and my role is to be your companion” was most definitely directed at Shouyou, which just reinforced my belief that Shouyou really is the love of Takasugi’s life (regardless of whether its in the parental, platonic or romantic sense).
Tumblr media
5) Ugh, Takasugi trying so desperately to reach his teacher made my heart hurt so much…but at the same time I was so happy that he was finally ACTUALLY going to get to reunite with Shouyou.
Tumblr media
6) I was actually relieved that Utsuro was finally mortal…that he might become a human being again in his Shouyou form was definitely a wonderful bonus. Things were finally looking up.
Tumblr media
7) I was so touched by the fact that Shouyou even mentioned Oboro. I was so glad that his first disciple was still within his heart.
Tumblr media
8) And this is where I started crying. I was SO FUCKING HAPPY for Takasugi.
Tumblr media
9) And then of course, everything started to spiral downwards: I clearly remember thinking “oh shit’ just based on Takasugi’s reaction, even though I had no idea what happened.
Tumblr media
10) I SCREAMED.
Tumblr media
11) My stomach basically dropped to my feet. I was crying now for a completely different reason. I immediately thought about what Takasugi last saw with his good eye and if there was any of him left in that body as he stabbed his beloved Shouyou and even just remembering what I felt at that moment makes me want to vomit now because it was all so horrible.
Tumblr media
12) And then things went from worse to even worse and it looked like the world was ending all over again and I just felt sick to my stomach.
Tumblr media
13) Yep, by the end of this chapter, I was feeling pretty fucking miserable. I was a ball of HURT. I couldn’t believe that Gintoki would be forced to strike down Utsuro while he’s in Takasugi’s body…so essentially he would be taking the life of someone he loves once again. So. Damn. CRUEL. Can’t believe we had to sit with this last image for weeks until chapter 703 came out. I honestly don’t even know how I survived that ordeal.
SHIPS TALLY:
Takasugi x Shouyou: even though I’m 100% TakaBan, I also absolutely believe Shouyou is the love of Takasugi’s life and he would’ve been so content if he were able to live happily ever after with Shouyou back in their Shoka Sonjuku.
Tumblr media
Gintoki x Otae: it was a small moment but Otae’s soft expression as she handed his sword back to Gintoki was still sweet. I mean, gods know if it had been Hijikata doing that I would be flipping the F out so of course I had to note it.
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just completely unbelievably amazing.  It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s immense generosity that I am able enjoy Gintama on an extra another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away...Episode 104
Episode Title: Important Things Are Hard To See
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY 18 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 104 (manga chaps 164, 165 and 166):
Tumblr media
1) I had to laugh a little at the fact that the anime team employed one of their tactics for filling out an episode: they repeated Hijikata’s whole speech to Kondou from the last episode, which killed about 4 minutes or so.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) His words...ugh, my heart.
Tumblr media
3) I just loved the fact that Gintoki prioritized his client, Hijikata.
Tumblr media
4) Nothing wrong with a combo of both.
Tumblr media
5) I love their antics, although I did feel bad for Hijikata...had to hurt being a human bridge since Kondou isn’t exactly a small man.
Tumblr media
6) This scene was just so cool: I appreciated the fact that both of them were aware that the other person was on the other side of the car so they were ready to attack as soon as the obstacle was sliced apart.
Tumblr media
7) It was Itou saying the words which at first I don’t think actually applied to Takasugi, but really thinking about it, it’s not that it doesn’t apply, it’s that it could have applied but because Takasugi was fortunate enough to meet Shouyou, he was changed and was able to find someone who understood him.Too bad both of them still ended up along similar destructive paths.
Tumblr media
8) For a very brief second, Itou actually looked like he was devastated, thinking his greatest rival was dead.
Tumblr media
9) That was pretty brutal, but at this point, I still thought Itou would live through everything, albeit minus one arm. I figured that was punishment enough for someone who lived by the sword.
Tumblr media
10) Itou’s mom really was the worst.
Tumblr media
11) Of course I started feeling bad for Itou, although I still think he could have made better choices in life.
Tumblr media
12) The best type of human centipede.
Tumblr media
13) Bless Kagura...she really was the MVP of this episode. Without her, none of the guys would’ve probably survived. As usual The Queen saves the day.
Tumblr media
14) It kinda is but I still felt for baby Itou. Present day Itou, not so much.
Tumblr media
15) Loved this glimpse of our Shinsengumi boys during happier, drunker time. I especially loved drunk Sougo.
Tumblr media
16) First time I saw Bansai’s strings, I was totally impressed: I thought it was such a cool attack. I really miss that man
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
17) That was so unbelievably beautiful: his words warm my heart every time, but this time around, I actually got a little teary-eyed because I started thinking how early on he had said those words and how much that bond has grown further over the years.
Tumblr media
18) I feel bad for Bansai now, but first time I saw this, of course I was cheering for Gintoki and totally awed by him.
SHIPS TALLY:
Gintoki x Hijikata: that’s Hijikata’s ass so of course I’d pay tribute to them.
Tumblr media
Okita x Kagura: this really quick OkiKagu fight combo moment (Hijikata joins in pretty quickly) is probably what inspired the live action movie’s extended version of it and I cannot be more grateful.
Tumblr media
Kondou x Itou: if Itou had not been so damn traitorous and murdery, Kondou probably would’ve eventually made him the second vice captain of the Shinsengumi or something equivalent because Kondou’s love and admiration for him was pretty palpable. I almost feel like he sees Hijikata as his beloved little brother, but he regards Itou as an adult whom he actually borderline idolizes.
Tumblr media
Hijikata x Itou: rivals make hot ships...of course nothing became of it, but if Sorachi-sama had been merciful, they may have very well challenged my OTP’s popularity.

Hijikata x Okita: that soft expression on his face. Obviously that was Sougo’s way of wishing Hijikata luck and hoping he’d survive.

Gintama manga chap 702
~
Dear Gintama gods and Sorachi-sama,
Please don’t do this to Gintoki again. Please don’t make him kill someone he loves and have to live with the guilt of doing so for the next decade or more. He barely survived the emotional repercussion of having to kill Shouyou the last time; it was obvious his actions took a toll on him since by the time he finally met Otose, he was clearly just a ghost of his former Shiroyasha self.  If he is forced to once again take the life of someone he truly cares about, which would be Takasugi this time around, I am so afraid that he won’t be able to survive the ordeal. While he has a strong network of love and support surrounding him, considering his tendency to internalize his turmoil, I worry that they would not be able to make any difference. I fear that he may very well disband the Yorozuya permanently and then choose to wander alone and live with his guilt until he eventually runs himself to the ground forever. It is such a bleak endgame for Gintoki that it hurts my heart so much and makes me want to weep profusely to even imagine such a scenario. I want to hope that you would never inflict such a devastating ending on us, but at the same time, I also never thought Gintoki would be the one who executed Shouyou in the first place so I am just so utterly frightened right now.
And actually, my heart already hurts and I have already wept over what has happened to Takasugi. Dear gods, is he still present inside of this Utsuro? And if so, how much he must be suffering to be forced to  experience stabbing his beloved sensei with his own hands, even if they were not under his control. If there is still any of his consciousness left, the vision of Shouyou falling before him must have been so unbearably painful, especially since they only just reunited.  Just thinking of that moment again—the tears falling from Shouyou’s eyes as he apologized to his student, Takasugi seeing those tears while probably thinking that finally, finally, his beloved teacher and father-figure has returned to him, only to have all of it taken away from him, to have his own being taken away from him—is enough to make me want to put my head down and cry all over again.   I know Takasugi has committed some bad deeds over the years, but he already lost Bansai, and Shouyou has been the love of his life and the reason for everything for him...it is almost too cruel to allow him to see that man again only to take away everything from him all over again. To think, the last thing he saw with both eyes was Gintoki in tears; I can’t believe the last thing he might ever see with his one remaining eye is Shouyou in tears.  Just that thought along makes me reject the idea that this might be the last time we ever saw Takasugi.  Honestly, it would really hurt too much. Not to mention, Matako and Henpeita didn’t even get to say good-bye; hell, Gin-chan and Zura and Sakamoto didn’t even get to say good-bye. And now my tears are coming again. Damn it.  I honestly didn’t even think I would ever cry and hurt for Takasugi this much, but this is what you always do to me, Sorachi-sama.
But it’s not over yet, right? I shouldn’t focus on just the gloom so soon when there’s hopefully still a ways to go and therefore a possible means out of this dreary landscape. Shouyou is a mere mortal now, so that stab could be fatal, but hopefully he will still hang on until he gets to see all his students again? And in the meantime, even though Gintoki and Utsuro will have to face off against one another yet again, perhaps there will be enough of Takasugi left in his own body that he can somehow wrangle control back to defeat the Utsuro in him? I don’t even know if that’s a possibility...I remember the Tendoshuu old fart shifted to Utsuro briefly before shifting back to himself...but that might be a different situation since he willingly relinquished control, whereas Takasugi had no choice whatsoever. I can’t believe that now that Utsuro is finally a normal human being again and capable of being defeated, I am almost reluctant to see him die because of what that will mean for Takasugi. Is it enough if Takasugi’s consciousness returns when Utsuro is in his death throes so that he can at least say some proper farewells to his Joui and Kiheitai family? If that’s all we will be able to get at the end, as sad as that would be, I think I could live with such a scenario. Especially if the one leading Takasugi to the other side is Bansai. I also hope that however Utsuro is finally defeated, that you take a good number of chapters to do so, and that Gintoki gets a helping hand in the fight from his Yorozuya family, the Shinsengumi boys, and the Yato fam, much like he did during the end of the war, except that maybe this time around, the two Joui boys who were off-planet gets to join in as well. It just wouldn’t seem right for Utsuro to be permanently defeated without Zura and Sakamoto’s involvement.
I am truly grateful that we are given yet more opportunities to look forward to whatever excruciating emotional torture you have planned for us. I know it wasn’t that long ago when I was still living in fear that the next chapter would definitely be the last. I understand that you probably have only a finite number of chapters planned for the app, but you know I will never give up hoping that you will find a way to continue beyond what you had originally planned at the last minute. You have been able to do that time and again anyway, why not continue with that lovely trend? With Gintama becoming a bi-monthly release now, I hope you feel less stress now since you have longer deadlines and hopefully that will also reinvigorate your imagination and your motivation to create more Gintama. After all, Sorachi-sama, Gintama doesn’t always have to continue on Earth or even within the current timeline. There’s always Gintama in space or in a classroom. As long as we get to always see the further adventures of our beloved characters, I don’t really care what setting or time period or dimension they’re in; I have faith that you will still manage to make us laugh heartily and weep painfully while entertaining us thoroughly no matter what.
Yours truly,
A silly fangirl with yaoi dreams
