Angst!

Toaster/self insert!

When you both get too busy.

My name is only mentioned a few times, so it’s a slight self insert. I incorporated my mannerisms too! :D

Toast sighed. It was another day, you both were busy.

There was hardly enough time to talk, to laugh like you used to, god they missed your laugh.

“Chris? You home?”

“Oh, yeah!” You yelled back, sounding occupied, yet again.

They were tired, so they went to go change and shower in your shared bathroom. Well, nowadays, you were so busy with work you used your own office bathroom and room.

It was just as torturous as the contact between you two getting cut off in the server. Like you were just there, but not quite.

Really, you know about this kind of stuff in media, and it’s probably perceived as boring and plain. It’s numbing to watch and hear, yet coincidentally that’s basically what it feels like.

They sighed, screw this. Toaster respected your space but.. god they missed you. A lot.

Once they walked to your office, they paused. Just knock. They just had to-

“Hi honey!” You smiled, however your voice wasn’t as energetic and your smile didn’t reach your eyes. You were tired.

Toast knows what it’s like to overwork yourself and feel valid if you don’t. He really does.

And they don’t want it to happen to you.

So they did what they would’ve wanted a year or two ago, and:

“Chris, take a break.”

“I’m almost done with thi-“

“Please? I want to talk.”

You paused for a moment, sighed, then minimized the window on your pc before turning to them. They were now situated on your office couch, which you often slept on nowadays.

“…yeah?”

You were probably worried.

“I’m not mad at you, ok? Just… the past few weeks, we’ve both been so busy and didn’t we haven’t been giving each other the attention we both deserve.”

You nod along, hands fidgeting while you listen.

“And.. I love you. So let’s try to talk more before we become strangers.”

You both grimaced at the word strangers. Anything but that.

“Yeah. Yeah. Uh, I’m sorry Toast. I love you too.”

An awkward silence seeped into the room. Maybe not awkward, maybe not tense, but a waiting silence. To think for a bit. To see who would do something.

“Can I have a hug?”

“Fuck- yes.”

The time between Toast getting up from the couch and holding you couldn’t have been faster.

“Topple me with your weight toaster, I dare you.”

“Heh- uh- AGGGGH!” You smiled a bit, dark circles under your eyes crinkling a bit as you giggled.

You just stood, holding each other for a bit. They smelt nice, like some sort of flower scented body wash.

“…uh, kiss me?”

“I was thinking the same- ahem-“ you swallowed thickly, butterflies rising again. You missed this.

Your lips touch as you stand on your tippy toes and lean down, lips brushing in a chaste way as you both smile into the kiss.

You missed them.
