Can't Stay Home
This one is for @that-stoner-alien-thing love ya boo:)
Jake sighed heavily as he came into the lifeguard tower. The man was exhausted, he was on his 4th 13 hour shift this week. His roommate and best friend Max Asyford had fallen ill, leaving him bedridden and unable to work. So to make sure the team wasn't short and to make sure they had enough to cover bills this month Jake was working extra shifts and extra hours.
“Jakey mate you sweet?” Chappo an older lifeguard turned to the younger man concern written on his face,
“Yea, Chap, I’m good.” Jake tiredly crocked out, Chappo shared a look with Whippet, who frowned slightly,
“How's Max?” Whippet asked hoping that Jake would slip up and reveal something about his own haggard state,
“Awful, I don't think the meds are helping him, he's almost out and the poor bloke hasn't gotten an uninterrupted night of sleep for close to a week now.” Jake said quietly, sitting down in a chair next to Whippet, who shared a look with Chappo both taking a long critical look at the man sitting towards their right. He had bags under his brilliant blue eyes, announcing his lack of sleep. The blue collared lifeguard shirt was button wrong and the boy's hair was slightly deceviled, and a slight tremor through Jake's whole body. Whippet silently turned Jake towards him and reached up to fix his collar, getting a real look at how pale Jake looked, as the rest of the boys clambered into the tower.
“Jake, you are at backpackers today with Hutz,” The surf was about 6 foot, breaking right after another, the team knew the conditions were dangerous and plenty of rescues would be made.
Hoppo told his lifeguard team as the boys made their prospective ways to areas of the beach that needed protrolled.
Jake nodded along to Hutz very energetic mostly one sided conversion,
“Jakeeeee.” Hutz whined when Jake zoned out for a little too long eyes strained on the water,
“Yea sorry mate,” Jake said tiredly, moments before screaming,
“Help! Help!” A girl screamed, going under as waves crashed around her,
“I'll go!” Jake shouted as he peeled off his blue shirt and threw his sunnies to the ground, grabbing the board and racing to make the 3 kilometer paddle to the girl who was disappearing under the waves quickly.
Jake was a mere meters from the girl, when a wave broke over his head, pushing him under the waves. Despite his best efforts, the rescue board was ripped from Jakes hands, causing him to be thrown around,
“God it would not be fun to be a pair of bordies in a wash.” Jake would have laughed at his thought if he wasn't currently underwater fighting for his life. After what felt like forever and a day, Jake broke the surface. Finally above the waves he tried his best to get air, and look for the girl he had been sent out to rescue. Finally he saw a dark shape floating face down, it was the girl. Despite not having rescue equipment he called for a resus and exhaustedly swam to the beach hoping the girl would be okay.
“Jakes calling a resus!” Hutz screamed into the radio as Whippet, Chappo, Jesse and Hoppo raced down defib in hand. By the time the others got there Jake was on his 2nd set of compressions,
1… 2…3…” Jake did not realize he was shouting as he counted out his compressions.
“Ambo’s been called! Defib attached, Clear! Jesse shouted making sure nobody was touching the girl. Her small body convulsed with shock as the defib tried to get her heart started again. Seconds after the shock the girl coughed and became sick,
“On her side!” Jake shouted holding her head as the boys helped him move her, so she didn't choke. Soon her eyes were open and she was transported off to hospital, leaving the boys to pack up the gear across the sand. A bystander came by and handed Jake his shirt and Sunnies, which he took with a shaking hand.
“You okay mate?” The stranger asked, then jumped back as Jake went to his knees coughing and spewing, the blood rushed in Jake's ears as his body trembled,
“Jake?” Chappo kelt down beside the younger man, waving for the oxygen mask. Whippet rushed over, as Jake continued to be sick in the sand,
“How much water did you sallow?” Whippet asked
“I- don’t- Whip-” Jake breathlessly whispered out, trying to move as Whippet put the oxygen mask on Jake's face.
“Mate, you need to wear it, you swallowed a lot of water.” Chappo said gently running his hand through the red heads hair checking for abnormalities. He didn't find any but his concern grew as he felt Jake's forehead, the kid was burning up.
“Whip, he's hot.” Chappo said to the blonde, as Hutz and Maxi drove the rhino towards them. Whippet quietly cursed, Jake still shaking under his hand when the rhino arrived.
“Jake, we need to get you to the tower buddy,” Whippet said, looking at Chappo when he failed to respond. Chappo stood up, placing a hand on Jake's back and the other under his legs, shocked at how light the boy was. Quickly all four boys made their way up to the tower where a very concerned Hoppo waited.
“Jake mate, how long have you been sick?” Hoppo asked the redhead
“I’m not sick.” Jake mumbled from underneath blankets as he lay on the medical bed, figuring that it had been several minutes after he was asked that he answered. Hoppo, Whippet and Chappo all looked at him slightly alarmed.
“Jake, you are sick. And I am sorry I didn't notice how much you had been working.” Hoppo said quietly kneeling down towards the boy,
“Its okay Hop, I wanted to-” Jake rasped out
“No, Jake, no, with Max being sick I should have known money would get tight for you guys and you being you would work extra without complaining and eventually get sick. I am sorry I didn't notice before.”
“It's fine Hop, you're still a good boss.” Jake said before his eyes slid closed,
“Nope, eyes open Jake.” Hoppo said tapping his cheek earning a groan from Jake,
“I know, I know.” Hoppo said quietly looking up as Chappo came in, it was close to 7, pack up time for the boys. The reason an ambulance had not been called for Jake was because Whippet and Chappo had insisted on taking him so they could take care of both Jake and Max.
…
“Chap?” Whip asked closing Jake's door quietly as Chappo did the same to Maxs door.
“Max could hardly tell me who I was and he's burning up something fierce, I don’t think the meds are working. How's Jake?”
“Sleeping, his fever has not spiked at least and I got him to eat a couple mouthfuls of soup.” The blonde said tiredly. Both Chappo and Whippet grabbed blankets and pillows from the spare closet, laying them on the floor making a sort of fort in the middle of Max and Jakes living room. Falling asleep in a short time.
…
“Whip? Chap?” A horse voice coughed out, scaring the blonde and brunette awake, being faced with a glassy eyed shivering Max.
“Oh, Max, hey.” Whippet said softly, getting up and walking over to a still fevered Max.
“Let's get you back to bed mate.” Whippet said taking Max arm and leading him towards his room,
“Where's Jake?” Max horsley asked,
“In his room, he got sick at work yesterday, so Chappo and I came over to help take care of you guys.” Whippet told him as Max layed down eyes already closing,
“Jake is sick?” Max asked about as panicked as he could, trying to get back out of bed. Whippet placed a comforting hand on Maxs shoulder pinning him to the bed
“Yeah but he's okay, Chappo is checking on him now, why don’t you go back to sleep mate?” Whippet smiled softly looking at the younger boy laying on the bed, moving some sweaty hair from his face. Despite the flush in his checks Max was very pale, but him getting up this morning ment he was improving.
A couple hours later Hoppo was knocking on the door, feeling guilty about failing to notice Jake had been working so hard and wanting to check on the four men working under him.
“How are they holding up?” Hoppo asked
“Max’s fever finally broke this afternoon and he left his bed for a few minutes so major improvement, and Jake was able to keep down a couple bites of soup this afternoon.” Chappo informed his boss tiredly,
“And how are you two?” Hoppo would not let his team get hurt or sick again on his watch,
“We are fine Hop.” Chappo said sharing a look with Whippet,
“Mhm. Get some sleep, I can watch the boys for a few hours and Ill have some food ready when you wake.” Hoppo’s voice left no room for argument, leaving Chappo and Whippet to fall asleep on the still put together blanket fort.
“Hop?” A tired voice asked from the doorway revealing Max small frame,
“Hi mate, how ya feeling?” Hoppo asked as he watched Max make his way to the couch, around a sleeping Whippet and Chappo.
“Like death microwaved me twice.” Hoppo let a small smile play across his features.
“A shower would help.” Hoppo said gently and Max agreed, rising slowly,
“Don’t tilt your head back, call if you need help and leave the door open.” Hoppo commanded, leaving the young boy no room to argue.
As Max finished showering Whippet woke up,
“Whip?” Hoppo asked as the blonde looked around like he couldn't quite place where he was, then understanding dawned on his features as he spotted Max coming out of the bathroom, hair still wet.
“Better?” Whippet asked Max who jumped at the sudden volume change,
“Thanks Whip.” Max said turing to go to the kitchen picking up a knife,
“Max no. The lot of you are on bed rest.” Hoppo said, taking the knife from him, turning so he could finish dinner. Slowly Chappo woke up both to the TV noise and the smells entering the house.
“Morning sleeping beauty,” Whippet said cheekily. Chappo groaned and rolled over, sitting up startled when he saw Max sitting watching TV.
“Max!” Chappo shouted a little to loud making everyone else flinch
“Oi, Mate, still sick.” Max mumbled smirking slightly
“Boys dinner.” Hoppo called smirking
“Dinner?” A new voice crocked out, Jake was now leaning against the doorframe, eyes a little hazy, while he took a look at his discombobulated living room. His flatmate was there, which checked out, but so were two of his coworkers and his boss.
“Dinner, Hoppo confirmed.”
…
A week later Jake and Max where back on for their first shift in a long time,
“THERE HERE!!” The lifeguard team cheered and clapped as Jake and Max opened the door to the lifeguard tower. Confetti was thrown and cheers passed around.
“Alright boys, let's take care of eachother and have a good day out there.” Hoppo clapped, as the boys smiled and got to work.
From then on the boys in blue took care of each other a little more closely than before. If one wasn't feeling good the others covered his shift and made him go home, coming by after work until the sick man was better. The lifeguards already a close knit bunch become even closer.
THE END
This is my first fanfic! If its awful I am so sorry:)

Accidentally In Love (Bondi Rescue)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Prompt: Them accidentally (or purposefully) dozing off in a hammock together as the sun sets and the air cools down.
I chose to do it on accident :)
************************************************************************
Third Person POV The day was warm, and the lifeguards were just hanging out at Joel and Jeff's place, having a cookout for Christmas. Joel was trying to convince Maxi that elves were real, and Jethro was vetoing for Santa. Harrison was just staring at them like tehy were dumb or something.
Jake was laying in a hammock, staring at the sky. "Yo." A voice said, and he glanced up, seeing Chase standing there. "Hey," Jake said, trying to scoot over, and Chase chuckled, taking the now-open spot. The problem with hammocks, especially rope ones like this one, was balance, so naturally, getting in, Chase fell into Jake. "Shit, sory." "It's okay. Good?" Jake asked, helping Chase sit up. "Yeah." Chase smiled.
Jake's heart fluttered, and he frowned. Stop that, he thought. He's way out of your league. He'd been in love with Chase for years, but he doubted Chase was even on the LGBT+ spectrum at all.
"You're dumb," Harrison said, shaking his head. "What?!" Joel cried. "It's true! How else do you think that shit gets there? The man's too fat to fit!"
"That doesn't mean he's not real, stupid." Jethro rolled his eyes, and Joel started shouting indignantly. Jake watched them, eyebrows raised. "Is Jeff still trying to say Santa is real?" "Yep. Joel's not having it," Chase mumbled. Both were now lying back, staring at the sky (but avoiding the bright sun, of course).
As the day wore on, Jake felt himself getting sleepier and sleepier as the warmth increased. He turned, about to ask Chase if he felt the same, and saw the younger boy passed out cold, eyes shut. Jake felt like a creep, but Chase was so pretty when he slept. He wasn't worried or stressed, but relaxed, peaceful. With a sigh, Jake closed his eyes.
Harries eyed the two boys, wondering if he should wake them up for dinner. The team knew. They've been watching the looks Chase and Jake would send the other if they weren't looking. "Should we...?" "Let them sleep, we can save them some." Reidy said, and everyone went inside.
Jake woke up an hour before dusk. He sighed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, and nearly had a heart attack when something moved beside him. He looked over quickly and was met with Chase's brown eyes. "Hi." Chase blinked. "Hey." Jake said.
There was talking inside, laughing, but Jake was focused entirely on Chase. The boy licked his lips quickly, eyes going from Jake's lips to his face again. "I, uh..." "Can I kiss you?" Jake blurted, feeling his face heatr up the moment the words left his lips. "Oh, my God..." He moaned, covering his face. "No, don't--don't be embarrassed. Yes, of course you can," Chase whispered, pulling Jake's hands from his face and kissing him gently.
Jake pressed into Chase, loving the way he tasted, like salt and the sea. "I've really wanted to do that forever," Chase whispered as tey broke apart. "Me, too." Jake whispered. Then...
"Hey, if you guys are, like, done making out or whatever, we got food." Jacko yelled. "JACKO!" Chase shrieked, red-faced. Jake started to laugh, kissing CHase as he got out of the hammock (and totally ignoring the team, because he figured they'd find out eventually anyway). "Come on, let's go in." Chase blushed, following Jake. "Kay."

Anniversary - Trent “Maxi” Maxwell x reader
WARNINGS: FLUFF. THAT'S IT. PURE FLUFF.
REQUEST: Hey 👋🏻 How are you? I saw that you’re writing for Bondi Rescue and thought I request something 🙈 Could you maybe write something for Maxi ? Something fluffy and cute. Maybe it’s also Valentine’s Day
A/N: I’m dumb and missed Valentine's day so I made it an anniversary imagine, I hope that's okay!
-
You glanced down at your phone as it vibrated against the wooden nightstand beside your bed. The screen lit up as two notifications appeared. Picking up your phone, you saw that Maxi had texted you twice.
"Just got off work, coming to get you, be there in 10" 7:03 p.m.
"Find something nice-ish to wear, I've got a surprise :)" 7:04 p.m.
You smiled down at the message, typing out a quick "okay." You padded across the hardwood floor of your apartment and over to the small closet, sifting through different outfits. You pulled out a white sundress with sunflowers decorating it, holding it up to examine it. Perfect.
You laid the dress down on your bed and pulled out a pair of white strappy sandals to go with it. You got changed from your sweats into the dress and shoes, checking in the mirror as you smoothed the dress out. You ran your fingers through your hair to style it, spraying in some dry shampoo as well. Your phone buzzed again, another text from Maxi popped up onto the screen.
"I'm outside with the car when you're ready" 7:15 p.m.
You quickly grabbed your keys and a small brown across-the-shoulder bag, stuffing your phone into one of the pockets and zipping it up. You hastily made exited your apartment, locking the door behind you and headed down the two flights of stairs.
You spotter Maxi standing in front of his car waiting for you. He wore khaki shorts and a white button-up shirt, meaning he'd probably changed just after work in the Lifeguard tower. His smile grew as you approached him, and you could feel your cheeks heating up as he looked at you.
"You look beautiful," he said once you finally reached him. You blushed even harder at his compliment, even after three years with him he still gave you butterflies.
"Thank you," you beamed, "You look very handsome as well." It was Maxi's turn to blush now.
"So what is this surprise you've gotten us all dressed up for?" You asked, your curiosity getting the better of you.
Maxi smirked, "You'll find out when we get there." He smoothly stepped to the side and opened the passenger door, gesturing for you to get in. You playfully raised your eyebrows, "Such a gentleman," you teased, stepping into his car. Maxi let out a soft chuckled before shutting your door and running around to the driver's side.
The drive didn't take long at all, and neither did you figuring out where you were headed. You knew the route from your apartment to Bondi like the back of your hand. You turned to Maxi with your eyebrows furrowed as he pulled into the closest parking spot. A thousand possibilities ran through your mind as to what Maxi could possibly have planned.
Maxi shut the car off and quickly exited, running around to your side and opening the door for you. He extended his hand out for you to take, the biggest grin spreading across his face.
"What in the world do you have planned Trent Maxwell?" You playfully narrowed your eyes at him, placing your hand in his. Once you were out, Maxi shit the door behind you.
"Just trust me," he said as he began leading you across the car park and to the beach. It was after hours, so there weren't many people on the beach. Only a few surfers and a couple of people who roamed the shore remained.
You decided to take off your shoes once you got to the sand, holding them in your free hand. Maxi ended up doing the same.
The two of you passed by the Lifeguard tower, running into none other than Jesse and Harrison. The two boys walked up to Maxi and you with grins that matched Maxi's own on their faces.
Your brows knitted together, confused as to why they would be at Bondi so late. Weren't the lifeguards all supposed to get off at 7:00 p.m.?
"Funny seeing you two here," Harrison quipped. The lack of subtly on his voice gave away that he, and Jesse, were probably in on the surprise. "Long day?" You interrogated, attempting to see what you could get out of the two boys.
Jesse shrugged, "You could say that. Had something we had to take care of, but it's all good now." You just barely caught the quick wink he sent Maxi, who in returned mouthed out a thank you.
"Well, it was nice seeing you two, we're just gonna head home for the night. . . you two uh, you two have fun," Harrison stuttered out, before running away with Jesse. The two boys whispering and chuckling to each other.
You turned back to Maxi, "Well that wasn't at all suspicious," you deadpanned. Maxi only laughed, tugging you once more, "Just come on."
You let him lead you around to the other side of the tower, and not too much further down the beach something strange started coming into view. Flickering lights surrounded what looked like a blanket with things splayed out on it. You looked back and forth between Maxi and the setup, yet he ignored your confused glances. As you got closer, you began to take note of the details of the setup.
The flickering lights turned out to be candles buried in the sand, and they were set in the shape of a heart. The blanket in the middle had an array of your favorite fruits, chocolates, and other snacks. The set up faced the ocean, providing a beautiful view of the sun slowly lowering towards the horizon, painting the sky in beautiful pinks and purples.
"Maxi, what is all this?" You questioned, a smile working it's way onto your face as you stopped just in front of the candles.
"Happy anniversary," Maxi said softly. It seemed as though his mischievous grin had been replaced by a nervous blush.
Your heart immediately skipped a beat as you let out a sharp breath. "You did this for me?" You asked in disbelief.
"Well, I had the boys set it up while I went to get you, but uh. . . yeah, yeah this is for you."
So that's why Jesse and Harrison were acting so weird.
"Um, do-do you like it?" It was adorable how nervous he was, you could tell just how much getting this right meant to him. You reached a hand up and placed it gently on his cheek. Standing on the tips of your toes, you softly pecked his lips. "It's perfect."
Maxi let out a sigh of relief, his whole body relaxing. "Seriously, Maxi, it's beautiful, thank you," you reassured. A soft and genuine smile tugged at the corners of Maxi's lips. "Well then," he gestured to the blanket, "be my guest." You giggled as you stepped inside the ring of candles, taking a seat on the soft blanket. Maxon followed suit, sitting down next to you.
The two of you spent the next thirty minutes chatting, eating, and enjoying the beautiful colors of the sky as the sun dipped lower in the sky. At some point, a comfortable silence fell over the two of you as you peered out at the soft waves lapping on the shore. Most of the candles had burned out, leaving the golden sun that sat on the horizon as the only source of light. An idea popped into your head.
You carefully stood up, brushing the sand that stuck to your legs off. Maxi looked up at you in confusion, "Come on," you offered him a hand, "I want to put my feet in the water before it gets too dark."
Maxi took your hand as he pulled himself to a standing position. You didn't give him much time to get situated before you took off towards the water, yanking Maxi along with you. You didn't stop running until you were about calf-deep in the water.
The water was slightly chilled, but it felt nice and refreshing, a cool breeze sent goosebumps up across your skin. You gently skimmed your feet across the sand, feeling the water move against your skin soothingly. You stood peacefully for a moment, enjoying the view, until a shock of cold shot through your body as water splashed against your back.
Your whole body tensed up at the sudden contact of the chilled water. You slowly turned around to see Maxi attempting to stifle a laugh. Your eyes narrowed a bit, "Oh you're dead Trent Maxwell." Maxi's face shifted from an expression of joy to one of fear.
You wanted no time crouching down, cupping your hands, and catapulting a large amount of water in Maxi's direction. He turned a bit to shield the front of his body from the inevitable cold. But you were relentless, deciding to take another shot at him while his back was turned. After your second go at him, Maxi whipped around and used his foot to kick up water, soaking the front of your dress.
Laughter filled the air as the two of you childishly splashed one another until both of you were completely soaked.
"Okay! Okay! You win!" Maxi laughed out, holding his hands up in surrender. You crossed your arms over your chest victoriously. It was then that a cold breeze caused you to grip your arms tighter around yourself. Now that you weren't messing around you were finally able to feel just how cold you really were. The sun had long since disappeared from the sky, taking its warmth with it.
You watched as Maxi ran out of the water and up the beach, moving things off of the blanket and shaking the sand from it. He hurried back to you as you stepped completely out of the water, your arms still wrapped tightly around yourself. Maxi let out a breathy laugh at your shivering form. He wrapped the blanket around his shoulders, holding the two ends in both his hands. He then proceeded to wrap his arms around you, enveloping you both in the large blanket. You uncrossed your arms and wrapped them around Maxi's torso. His body heat provided instant relief as you melted into him, the blanket providing protection from any wind.
"This is your fault," you mumbled accusingly into his chest, referring to the giant splashing war the two of you just had. Maxi's chest shook as he chuckled, "I know, I'm sorry." Maxi pressed a light kiss to the top of your head.
You lifted your head from his chest and smiled up at him, "Apology accepted."
Maxi leaned down and captured your lips with his in a sweet and loving kiss, pulling you in closer to him. “I love you so much,” he mumbled against your lips, causing a wide smile to spread across your face. “I love you too,” you whispered back.

Other Half (Trent “Maxi” Maxwell) || Bondi Rescue
Maxi fic for that one person I owe one to, as well as a HUGE apology. It comes with an explanation, but you should read the fic first. Please enjoy, and I’m sorry I couldn’t write smut for you. That’s also a story for another time. I tried to keep this really gender neutral, I hope that’s okay!
Bondi beach was one of the best travel locations in the world according to magazines and international bloggers and regular visitors. The refreshing clear blue water, the soft sand, the family atmosphere at the North end and the Backpackers down at… well, Backpacker’s. The other aspect that made the beach so great in all those reviews were the lifeguards; internationally recognised in the show Bondi Rescue, they were all witty and charming, and compassionate- yes, even the gruff Hoppo. People came from far and wide to take photos with these lifeguards, to thank them for their service, to see them in action. These boys (and girls, sorry Jules) in blue were quick-thinking but not the type of people to make rash decisions without reason, caring and sympathetic, but also calm in difficult situations. The Bondi lifeguards were a huge part of what made the beach Bondi.
Trent “Maxi” Maxwell was now considered a senior lifeguard. He’d joined at the ripe age of sixteen and had been keen to do anything, whether it be cleaning the change rooms or saving lives. Trent became known as Maxi, and soon found himself leaving his safe place tucked under Kerrbox’s wing to venture into the world of lifeguarding on his own. In doing this he met some of his best friends; Harrison and Jesse- and learned life skills he’d never forget. He became a mentor, he became a close friend; he became someone to lean on.
When he met y/n, he found someone he could lean on for the first time in years. Y/n was his ally, the one to listen when Maxi felt no one wanted to hear him. Y/n was long legs and gorgeous hair, Y/n was a huge smile and dimples that only showed with real happiness. They were Trent’s partner in crime, not Maxi’s. Y/n loved him for his empathetic attitude; they loved him for his laugh and his ability to defuse a situation with ease. They knew when to hug him, to comfort him, and when to leave him so he could calm down. Y/n stored every moment in the back of their mind, keeping them there just in case Trent had had enough one day. When they voiced this Trent only smiled, his arm wrapping tighter around their waist.
I doubt that’ll happen, baby. You’re stuck with me.
Maxi on the beach was a force to be reckoned with. He wore a sharp gaze, a charming smile, and an easygoing attitude at all times. He was fast on land and in water luckily, and had learned over time what to say when things were getting rough. Maxi was one of the best lifeguards on Bondi and he knew it, but he stayed humble. He used to be the scrawny sixteen year old kid with braces, ten years later he was one of the front men in Bondi Rescue. Maxi was a man, and it showed when he was working. The beach was one of his passions, and it would always stay close to his heart.
Anyway. Y/n was Maxi’s other half; they were about as close to the dream team that you could get realistically. Sure, they had their fights and their moments, but they stuck together like glue. Nothing could change that. It only make sense that one day Maxi proposed on the beach, to the complete surprise of y/n and every lifeguard on duty that night, including Harrison Reid himself. It had been an utter shock, but everyone couldn’t help but clap when the couple entered the tower as fiancés. It was a beautiful moment, and y/n couldn’t have been happier.
Well, that was what they thought until they had twins. Two girls, both daddy’s girls, and there was nothing but love in Maxi’s eyes for them. He didn’t even mind changing nappies and that was really saying something with twins. The lifeguards had become honorary aunts/uncles to the twins, and those girls were doted on by everyone. Maxi spent any free time he had with his family, loving y/n, watching the twins grow. He watched their personalities develop; both spirited and had a touch of y/n’s quick mouth, but with Maxi’s charm. One was more subdued; if prompted she could make quite a scene, while her sister was quite simply a very energetic child. It didn’t matter what they were doing or where they were- you could tell when the twins had entered the room. A lot of couples usually lost their love once they had kids- too busy to invest in anyone else- but Maxi and y/n were still very clearly in love with each other. They still had inside jokes, late night talks and sometimes midnight snacks. Nothing had changed between them; they were still Trent and y/n. They loved to go to the beach as a family, but it was special when it was just them; even for a brief moment. They salvaged every second together, as though they were going to be separated by force some day.
Maxi knew how lucky he was to wake up next to y/n every morning. Y/n loved to sleep in and took every opportunity they got, and Maxi was not someone to interrupt that, however he also loved to cuddle. When y/n was still sleeping deeply Maxi found a way to cuddle, but if y/n was half awake they’d move around until they had their head resting on his chest, leg thrown over his. Chests together, Maxi’s hands on y/n’s waist. Y/n found it was comfortable there as long as she wrapped her arms around his neck to get their arms out of the way. The time they spent together was something cherished; it was something to be tucked away for a rainy day. They met on a rainy day actually, at the fire brigade Maxi worked at part-time when y/n had gone there to get out of the rain for a minute while walking their dog. Maxi had been utterly charming to say the least, and it hadn’t been long before they were together.
Waking up beside y/n was a treat he didn’t deserve, he believed sometimes. He was tired and he’d yell, they’d fight, but y/n had everything under control. They knew exactly how to help Maxi down, when to kick him off his high horse to come back to Earth. Maxi knew he was beyond lucky to have the jobs he did, to have the opportunities he’d received, but nothing beat having y/n in his life. Y/n was his best friend, his partner in crime, his other half. Without y/n Maxi had no idea where he’d be in life, not to get cliché.
Y/n was one of the best things to happen to Maxi, and he was fully aware of that.
Vice versa, too.
Explanation:
Look, honestly coming into year 12 I was like pfft this will be fine, I’ll do what I need to and manage to focus on my writing. I haven’t managed to do that, and I owe a massive apology to those of you who have requested me to write something for you. I don’t know if this is going to be good enough, but I couldn’t write smut due to a recent event in my life (nothing serious, I’m okay!) so I hope you enjoy reading, Maxi anon. Again, I’m so sorry for the delay.

Joel: We are clearly lost!
Harrison: We are not lost. We have just got a little turned around with the directions.
Jethro: THAT MEANS WE ARE LOST!
Maxi: Well you said to make a right!
Jethro: I said make a right next!
Maxi: Well that meant for me to turn right since we were at the stop!!
Harrison: Why don’t we just call someone?
Joel: You know damn well if we call someone then we will get more lost!
Harrison: Excuse me, I am not like you. Words don’t go in one ear and out the other one!
Meanwhile
Hoppo, Reidy and Whippet watching from the tower.
Hoppo: They are still in the car park.
Reidy: Should we help?
Whippet, with popcorn: As if! I’m enjoying this!

Maxi: If you bite it and you die, it’s poisonous. If it bites you and you die, it’s venomous.
Harrison: What if it bites me and it dies!?
Jake: Then you’re poisonous. Jesus Christ, Harrison, learn to listen.
Max: What if it bites itself and I die?
Reidy: That’s voodoo.
Whippet: What if it bites me and someone else dies?
Harrison: That’s correlation, not causation.
Max: What if we bite each other, and neither of us die?
Reidy: That’s kinky.
Maxi: Oh my God.

It's Okay To Cry (Bondi Rescue)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Prompt: Harrison, who is usually not the type to show negative emotion, breaks down in front of Maxi after a resus gone wrong.
Third Person POV Harrison saw members of the public dragging a man from the water. He leapt from the Rhino, racing over and shouting in his radio, "Rhino to Central, a man's been pulled from the water, I need the defib!" He grabbed the man's shoulders, helping the two men holding him place him on the dry sand, beginning compressions. He counted under his breath, trying to hope that he could get him back. Whippet was suddenly next to him, Deano behind him. "Get to 30 and Deano will take over and I'll put the defib on." Whippet said. "25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30." Harrison removed his hands, and Whippet and Deano set the defib up, turning the machine on. The man wasn't breathing, wasn't moving, and Harrison started getting a sick feeling as they tried to find a rhythm and couldn't. The EMTs were just coming down Campbell Parade. "Do not touch the patient," The machine said, and Deano having been doing compressions, and Whippet, keeping the guy steady, moved their hands, pausing.
"No rhythm detected." Deano swore, resuming compressions as Whippet got the machine started again. Again it said not to touch the patient, and Deano and Whippet moved. It's already been five minutes.
"No rhythm detected." Deano sat back. "We have to call it." Harrison felt his world stop moving. "No. No, no, he..." He panted, sitting on his knees and heels. The EMTs arrived then, and Deano passed the man's body to them. Harrison was numb. He's dealt with a few resuses before, and sometimes, they didn't make it, but it was still hard. He blinked, staring at the sand, a deep imprint where the boy had been. He didn't hear the bustle of the crowd that had formed disappearing, didn't hear Deano packing away the defib. Whippet touched his arm. "Come on." He was silent on the way to the Tower, silent when he entered. He was pretty sure he was...what's the word? Dissociating? Something like that. Everything felt numb and distant, like he was underwater and too tired to reach the surface. Tears burned his eyes, and he struggled to keep them back. He sat at the desk, hearing faint words, but not catching the meaning. Maxi was suddenly there, grabbing Harrison's hands, rubbing his thumbs along his palms. "It's okay to cry, Hutz. None of is will judge you." And Harrison bawled, like a little kid, wishing he could've saved the man, horrified that he couldn't. Maxi wrapped him in a hug, whispering things that Hutz couldn't hear over his own sobs.
Someone put a hand on his back, and he heard Chappo's voice. "Shift's almost over, Hoppo said to just take him home." "Okay," Maxi said, standing and pulling Harrison up.
The team was still gathered, and they looked at Hutz soflty. "Hey." Whippet touched his arm as he passed. "It's oaky. We can't save everyone, okay?" "Kay." Hutz said. "Love you, Hutzy!" Jethro shouted from the locker room. "Love you."
As Hutz sat in the car, headed home, he thought, I'm not alone. And Whippet's right. We can't save everyone. But I will be better.
