AHAHA I MADE IT
3 DAYS IN A ROW 4K+ WORDS EACH CHAPTER BB WO!
Chapter 9: Sickness through Young and Old
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 10: Third Brother
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 11: Within the Water
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because all the chapters go through almost the same arc! Let us have the three chapters be talked in one post.
-Let's talk about the first case: Sickness!
Because what literary story set in medieval Japan does not have a tale of sickness and good ol' unknown disease that will only get worse by time~
"Wait wasn't Tanjuro also sic—"
"Shhhhh sh sh shsh....We are gonna cross that river soon... soon."
But really, it seems that while looking through some good old diseases that have plagued Japan in feudal times, I have come across the fact that they also had those kinds of "Victorian era wailing for its last breath" kind of tropes there and I was like "how. Hoho.
Cool story I found was that of Minamoto no Tametomo fighting the smallpox demon, so maybe I'll make a reference to it some day... prob.
Is the disease Yushiro has a real one?
Yes....and no. Basically it's going to be ambiguous as to what it is, especially for the effects that it will come to play later, and most importantly, where the cure is found.
And now that we are talking about Yushiro...
The Idea of the Koucho's having the head being a woman actually was inspired by an actual onna bugeisha in the sengoku period: Tachibana Ginchiyo(1569-1602)
And out of all of the other women Castellans[i.e appointed women officials to lead a castle or command] Tachibana stood out to me due to the fact that her name may have meant (depending on the source) "to listen to the words of a discreet person".
Well, did she listen? did she not? Well the record of the family certainly said that she had the bravery of her father, the titled "Lightning God", and oh yeah, stepped out to become the heiress of the clan despite the her father's retainers trying to convince him to choose another family member from an extended branch as his heir.
And did I forget to say she saw through Toyotomi Hideyoshi's attempt of assault and chose to arm her and her maids with naginatas (and arquebuses too some sources say) while paying him a visit, and he wasn't able to do anything [though the account may be false, I took some ★★inspiration★★ of that too]
She also had an army of women she trained :).
I mean. To be honest there where so many other women out there too, Mitsuri, Daki, Kanao, Kanae Tamayo and Nakime's backstories will also have elements to other popular women back in the sengoku era while also mixing in their Canon backstories in the series.
But my favorite backstory drafts right now are: Shinobu, Makomo, Uta and Amane's
Because
Oh
My
God
Female Warrior Monks
Them. Even just thinking about their backstories make my bones chill bro, like the stories are so good I just wanna write it all down but I CaNT—
Yall I love this period so much I can't breathe. So many things bro I'm dying. It literally brings me Illiad levels kinds of HYPE!!.
Also the fact that Shinobu was trained by Himejima who is a monk like– I cannot NOT take this opportunity to make Shinobu a heiress, this without exactly the legitimate rule since she is still just a de facto daimyo as of now... as of now.
Also the fact that Ginchiyo married her childhood friend but in the end they didn't love each other and beared no children... :)))))
Are the other characters also modeled after famous Sengoku people?
Hell yes.
Though not one one specific person, more like the personalities are set from real people, and their backstory too but they are still, ya know. The same kny characters you know off.
The most obvious have already been seen honestly.
With Yoriichi acting out as the Kampaku, already a strong connection to Toyotomi Hidesyoshi.
And the two compelling forces of the story (AND MY FAVORITE CUZ OH GOD THE HISTORY! THEIR STORY! MUZAN ACTUALLY HAS BACKGROUND! KAGAYA TOO HELL YAS!) The Kibutsuji being a close resemblance to Oda Nobunaga and the Ubuyashiki a connection—especially since I said that the last battle was going to die of that from Sekigahara— To Tokugawa Ieyasu.
And our two new members
Akechi Hairo being a reference to Akechi Mitsuhide who betrayed Oda Nobunaga, while Hairo is just, lower moon 2 Hairo. [I don't sincerely have a few fleshed out backstories towards the Lower moons in this story—just like canon lol— but they still do have a bit of significance and relevance in some plots.
For example: The hand demon that we just say in chapter 11 and his Nii-chan.
And also Shinsaburo, 真三郎
真(Truth, same kanji as Makomo) 三(3, hehe) 郎(Young man/Male) who was a inspired by the poet and one of the government's leading generals in Kyushu, Imagawa Ryoshun(1326-1420), due to two things that will be part of Shinsaburo's backstory: His military achievement, and the tutoring of finest Uta poet of the fifteen century.
Moreover.
Poetry.
Damn.
Pretty good IG, if you know Japanese and kanji. I actually plan having those poetry contests[by myself :")] or making some waka during summer break once I start learning Japanese. I don't know if that'll work but It'll be fun.
I'll be like probably canon Iguro, just writing lovesick poems, but instead of Mitsuri it will be about the Maracuya iced mixed Soju[such a good drink it elevated me] and my ghost bunny.
Now.
WAR SHIPS ★v★
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ESPECIALLY THIS BABY GIRL!
LIKE OH MY GOD.
The upgrades, the fact that they put a freaking house over the whole thing. Just imagine how many row men you would need to build that thing. The wall put up on front with the little holes[hazama]! Just look at how cool that is! It really be an entire fortress floating!
Aaaand of course the first I hear of is from Oda Nobunagabuilding them but with iron in 1578....that's metal, hehe ( ˘ ͜ʖ ˘).
But overall the massive construction for these kinds of things, just to fall :"), damn it's like I'm watching the destruction if most castles in sengoku again.
Of course they were all just Atakebune.
Sekibune and the Gozabune (Kobaya) were also other kinds of ships out in the sengoku period. Respectively:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course they are much smaller than the atakebune because the atakebune was meant to be the largest, even had a turret over it (like the watchtower in which... moments happened ~) equipped with various equipment.
Though, due to their size it meant that these kinds of ships wouldn't be used as much [think they were more used to fight off the others in the Korean peninsula or missionaries, which is why the Koreans have their turtle ship and I have to say that man do I love that little ship, alongside admiral Yi who will appear, as someone else tho, for some crossover content in this fic, since I saw Korea and you know me gotta love those crossovers. So their main ships that where mostly used to fight in where the lighter and more comfortable Sekibune and Kobaya ships. There is also more information from a YouTube here, she talks so calmly about the 3 ships so if you wanna more info- there [sadly I had to put Google translations for this one :")]
As for some English vids, there are just Total war Shogun let's plays (":. Good game tho. It actually helped have an idea of what to make me write for these chapters. Alongside the battle of Miyajima which. For some reason. The only thing I could picture clearly. And it bugged me for most of the whole watch. Was.
What about an underwater kiss scene?
So I did that.
Freaking did that.
Time for some accidental cpr–kiss.
Shouldn't have listened to that cpr song. Now look at me. Trynna put a kiss scene there...
At least it went on in a natural matter.
Supposedly in the drafts it was just going to be a normal battle more focused on Sanemi and Giyuu development, seeing how they both act towards one another especially when they come from different ranks of society yet are going to marry the girls of the same household. So that way I can some Sanemi background explained after the battle. I'm still gonna do it tho, but once again, this was going to supposedly be a small small battle.
However this was Giyuu's debut to being a samurai so I was like NO.
And also had no internet so I rolled with another things which was the Miyajima Battle.
And oh boy I really expected to just be so few chapters not dragging 3 (4k) long chapters. Hopefully it can stop at two more because now we have Shinsaburo and Sanemi backgrounds to add on. Which.
Oh.
Boi.
That like opens up a whole new cast directly.
And because it's also the Giyuu~ Debout~ to a Samurai~
You get what this means no?
It will soon be time for the vows~~~~
Hehehehehhehehehe

[OC] Tachibana Ginchiyo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Known as "The Plum of Chikuzen", Ginchiyo is the infamous valiant wife of Tachibana Muneshige. She grew up as a strong, independent woman who has never bowed her head to any man, and has a temper that is said to have intimidated the likes of Hideyoshi.
Despite being either known as the most beautiful woman of Kyushu, and one of its most strong-willed generals, few people know about her true nature. Lonely and melancholic, she has been long fighting to continue her father's legacy on her own, without the help of her much lenient husband, who looks more like a slave to the Otomo lord than the dignified 'Southern Tadakatsu'.
The fact that she still can't get rid of such bond to the Otomo, had her growing tired and frustrated to the point of planning a way to split the clan in half and divorce from Muneshige.

"Ginchiyo was personally named by her father, with the name more or less meaning "one who would not listen idly to others". There are many speculations about Ginchiyo's personality, but it is said that she was a severe and rigid figure, a valiant woman, with remarkable communication skills, as strong and determined as any famous warrior of the time.
Ginchiyo succeeded her father and led the clan in a period of difficulty at only 6 years old. She inherited her father's interests such as the status of castellan, territory, belongings and the famous sword Raikiri (雷切, Lightning Cutter). She recruited women to become her elite guard and trained all the maidens of the castle in warfare skills to intimidate visitors and to protect it if other clans attacked her domain. Dōsetsu died fighting the Shimazu clan at Neko'o castle on November 2, 1585. His wishes were respected and Ginchiyo became the lord of the Tachibana clan. Five years after her rule, she married Tachibana Muneshige, who had been adopted into the family and continued Dōsetsu's family line after Ginchiyo."

Tachibana and Nata Duo
Tumblr media
Gift for @milky-rozen @onnajosshumiwa because I am loving her Ginchiyo 💙💙🧡🧡
The inclusion of Lady Nata came from me vaguely remembering Milky mentioning how my Lady Nata's situation with Sōrin reflects Muneshige's situation with Ginchiyo and inspo arrived. 😳
Working with the orange and blue color palette with Ginchiyo was so fun 💙 And ofc when I saw Ginchiyo's outfit for the first time, the sleeves immediately made me think of European Renaissance clothing with large poofy sleeves like this for example:
https://blog.bridgemanimages.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Licinio_lady-1.jpg?width=759&height=899&name=Licinio_lady-1.jpg
And ofc I couldn't keep the patterns of Ginchiyo's outfit out because including the patterns pull her sleeves together 🧡💙
I am planning to draw Milky's Ginchiyo again since I found some interesting outfits that are Ginchiyo's concept outfits in Nobunaga's Ambition and that have Milky's Ginchiyo's color palette 💙🧡😳

Ginchiyo the Kilowattrel
Tumblr media
I had mistakenly thought I remembered something about Ginchiyo Tachibana’s name having something to do with birds, so I thought the name worked all the better, but I couldn’t find anything confirming that, so no idea where that thought came from.  Either way, Ginchiyo is still pretty solidly associated with lightning in the Samurai Warriors games.  This is in reference to her father, whose sword she carries.  Dōsetsu Tachibana, according to legend, was strong enough to have cut down a monstrous lightning spirit by only using one of his personal swords, and was thus dubbed “Lightning God” by his peers.

* 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐊𝐎'𝐒 𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐀   !
minako became proficient in wielding the naginata long before she was asked to fight against the shadows    ;   although she had never fought seriously until then,   she was already capable of using the traditional spear and had thus no problems in deciding her weapon of choice.
when she was around 10 years old and she was momentarily living with some distant relatives in the city of yanagawa,   she was introduced to the art of the naginata for the first time during a festival dedicated to tachibana ginchiyo,   a onna-bugeisha who became the head of her own clan and who eventually became an unforgettable symbol of the raw strength of women during the sengoku period   ;   aside from the numerous battles that she won,   ginchiyo also instructed all the maidens of her castle in warfare skills and recruited a personal elite guard that was wholly composed by women.   captivated by the wondrous tales around this she-warrior,   minako asked her relatives to sign her up in the local school for naginata-wielders,   where her passion and admiration for these powerful female figures only continued to further grow.
aside from choosing the naginata as her main weapon for practical reasons,   since the length of the spear ought to compensate for the more physically fragile body of a female,   minako has also embraced all the values and morals that are normally connected to the onna-bugeisha:   they were protectors,   they were the ones who had to save their families and their households from a possible assault,   they were the ones who put down their strength to serve their villages and,   in many cases,   their whole country     ──     in the same manner,   minako fights to protect her beloved ones,   not only the beloved members of s.e.e.s. but those around her as well.

11. The Blue Demon. 12. Naosuke Ii. 13. Kenji Hayabusa - Rise of the Ronin OC.
Dynasty Warriors has had overall 93 characters! Combined! Samurai Warriors had 76 Characters Overall that is cause it only had five main games and mostly same roster even in the Spin offs like Xtreme legends and Empires.
Dynasty Warriors some reason introduce more and more as each game came while Samurai Warriors often introduced new ones that replaced some characters, also likely why is cause SW Series has been mostly focused on Sengoku Period which not many were involved.
Dynasty Warriors in the historical context and via Romance of Three Kingdom Novels had plenty of figures in history involved in the War of the Three Kingdoms, overall characters combined from both series is 169 Characters when combined!
that is lots and lots of characters in just the two series combined, so if Tecmo Koei really wanted to they could have just used all 169 characters for a Warriors Orochi with no Special Guests and no Original Characters except Orochi for the story but hey Warriors Orochi is about warriors from other timelines and universes and only having SW and DW characters would ruin the story
so has you noticed I added some characters from Rise of the Ronin game that recently came out, and yes Kenji Hayabusa is an OC I created as part of my Nioh universe, for a Nioh 3 set in Bakumatsu era which Rise of the Ronin is set in.
The Female Blade Twin wears that cool boss fight outfit her or Male Blade Twin wears if you do not choose either one, of course unlike in Canon cause my Rise of Ronin story is set after Nioh and neither of them end up a villain.
if I had a PS5 I would definitely get Rise of the Ronin, I hope one day it comes for Nintendo Switch, if I do I would play as the Female Blade Twin, then Male twin anyways that is it

ooc. i'm not gonna lie, tsuruhime does NOT like nobunaga (of any version) despite never meeting him historically.
random facts though. she does canonically admire onna bugeisha like tomoe gozen & hangaku gozen. also perhaps, ii naotora & tachibana ginchiyo, if we're talking about figures within the same period as hers.

This is, according to Wikipedia, a replica of the armor that would have been worn by Tachibana Ginchiyo (1569-1602). Ginchiyo was for a time the head of her clan during the Sengoku period.
Here are some extracts from her wikipedia page:
“She led the clan in a period of difficulty at only 6 years old. She inherited her father's all interest such as the status of castellan, territory, belongings and the famous sword Raikiri (雷切, Lightning Cutter). She recruited women to become her elite guard and trained all the maidens of the castle in warfare skills to intimidate visitors and to prevent it if other clans attack her domain.
(....)
In 1592 Hideyoshi ordered that Tachibana Muneshige and Tachibana Naotsugu participate of the Invasion to the Korea under the command of Kobayakawa Takakage. Hideyoshi built Nagoya castle as a base to launch attacks on Korea. The castle was relatively close to Ginchiyo's residence in Hizen Province, it is said that Hideyoshi invited Ginchiyo to visit the castle several times when her husband was away. However, when Hideyoshi saw Ginchiyo with her armed women, he left fearing her personality.”
Well, she was badass.

Tachibana Ginchiyo - The warrior nun of Yanagawa
Tachibana Ginchiyo (1569-1602) was the daughter of Tachibana Dōsetsu, an influential retainer of the Ōtomo clan in Kyushu. In the absence of a male heir, Ginchiyo became the head of the Tachibana family at only 6 years old and occupied the position until 1581. She ultimately married Tachibana Muneshige, who had been adopted into the family. He thus became the clan’s leader by marrying Ginchiyo. Ginchiyo remained nonetheless extremely influential and it was said that she and Muneshige didn’t get along well.
Ginchiyo was interested in military matters. She notably inherited her father’s sword Raikiri (”Lightning Cutter”). Her elite guard was entirely composed of women and she made sure that every woman working in the castle could take part in its defense. Such measures prevented eventual attacks on her domain.
In 1586, the rival Shimazu clan besieged the Tachibana castle. The women, equipped with firearms, fought the enemy, while Ginchiyo defended the castle gates.
Tumblr media
(Replica of the armor that Ginchiyo may have worn)
The Tachibana clan ultimately allied themselves with Toyotomi Hideyoshi (a preeminent general considered as Japan’s second “great unifier”) in the afterward of his campaigns to conquer Kyushu. Hideyoshi entrusted Tachibana castle to Ginchiyo who lived separately from her husband. She was also in charge of managing the whole clan’s estates when Muneshige was absent. It is also said that Hideyoshi tried to visit Ginchiyo while her husband was away. He soon gave up on the idea when he saw her armed women and feared her ferocious personality.
Ginchiyo never gave birth to a child. Muneshige divorced her and she became a buddhist nun. This was not, however, the end of her military career. After Hideyoshi’s death, the power of the Toyotomi clan declined and civil war broke again in Japan. In 1600, the battle of Sekigahara  opposed the Toyotomi supporter to the army of Tokugawa Ieyasu , who would ultimately establish the Tokugawa shogunate.
Tokugawa supporters marched on the Yanagawa castle were Tachibana Muneshige was. Their advance was however stopped by an unexpected resistance stronghold at the south of the castle. It was the convent were Ginchiyo resided. She had decided to lead the other nuns in armed resistance. The exact nature of her defensive measures is unknown, but they were certainly efficient.
The attackers were Muneshige’s former comrades in arms. Ginchiyo’s resistance  convinced them to offer Muneshige to surrender and join them in a campaign against the Shimazu. Muneshige agreed and was later pardoned.
Ginchiyo died of illness in 1602 at the age of 34 and was buried in a temple in Yanagawa.
