The veiling of mind
As some of you may know, this was a reguest from @cabbages-posts

Once again, thank you for requesting this since it means to me you like the way I write. The MC described in this story is the same MC in HPHM so you can do about everything 🤷🏻‍♀️✨ Talbott is really insecure about himself in this, hope you don't mind. I imagine that he started to change and see himself in a diferent way roughly sometime after this incident. (Also reader is a bird animagus like Talbott, nut feel free to insert any other animal you prefer.)
Sorry for taking this long, uni work is killing all my time. Hope you like this!
Warnings: It's just pure fluff with a little angst if you close one eye and sexual degrading comments from a Slythering student towards the reader. Nothing big, really. Just the usual stuff most of us heard at least once in our life. I used the F word once, as well as asshole. Talbott also sends a few curses, but doesn't physically harm anyone (the punk in question calmly gets up and runs away like a wounded animal).
Pairing: Talbott Winger x fem! reader (established relationship)
Fandom: Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery

The way your hair glistened in the sunlight was addictive. You were just bending down to pick the spiky flowers when a strand of your hair fell in your face. Unable to resist his desire, Talbott gently reached for them, uncovering your beautiful face and softheartedly put them behind your ear. They were just as tender as he remembered and as the sweet smell of your shampoo assaulted his sinuses, he quite consciously sucked in your intoxicating scent once more. He rested his chin on your head and stroked your hair lovingly.
Talbott rarely ever showed his affection for you. Most of the time, he did so by letting his inhibitions disappear and giving in to his own desires. He didn't know if he could afford to do this to you, if you wanted it, or how you would react if he actually did what he dreams of doing day and night. And as soon as he came back to the harsh reality of what he was doing, he immediately let you go in shame every single time no matter how much you told him you loved it.
He was too nervous to see how much his gesture made you blush. He purposufely looked away from you as his eyes were searching for something to serve as distraction, his hand at the back of his neck. A habit he unconsciously made whenever he was too shy or nervous in your presence.
You were the only one who made him insecure about himself.
It wasn't because of the way you acted around him or anything you said to him. If anything, you've always let him know how much you appreciate him and how much you love him for who he is - for being himself. But... YOU were too good for him. You were perfect at anything you touched. You excelled in every subject, and even though Snape didn't like you twice, your grades were still among the best. You managed to befriend every wizard, witch and magical creature. Everyone adored you. You were brave, beautiful, willing to put yourself in danger to save others, smart, you even sang in the choir and you were capable of playing any position in Quidditch!
Compared to you, he... He could never be your match. The only thing he was really good at was transfiguration and caring for the plants. Although... On multiple occasions you told him how much you admired his clever brain, how you wished to be at least half as smart as he is. One time you even confessed how incredibly sexy you find his cleverness. After hearing your hurried confession he studied even more then before. He wanted to impress you.
Ever since that first day he found out he was your secret crush, he's felt so much better about himself. And every time you chose him out of your long list of admirers to go to a date or to a ball with without hesitation and reassure him that he would always be your first choice, his confidence grew again.
And yet... Every time he was made aware of your superhuman incredibility, he couldn't help but watch you from afar. He admired you more than anyone else.
"Aren't you more touchy-feely than usually today?" You giggled happily and handed him a bouquet of his favorite flowers. Since your first date in Hagrid's garden, picking Thistle has become a bit of a tradition. Whenever you came back here on one of your many dates or just passing by on an evening stroll, you always picked him a bouquet of purple beauties. You yourself would have preferred to choose slightly prettier flowers but you liked the reason why Talbott likes them in the first place. Still, you wished he would begin to think better of himself than that he was often overlooked just as this flowering plant. You wished there was some magic that could make him see himself through your eyes, at least for a while. Then maybe he'd realize how amazing he really is.
"I-I'm sorry..." Talbott was quick to apologize, thinking he'd ruined the rest of the day with his gesture. You finally saw each other after a few days when you were busy with all sorts of things while he was studying in the library and secretly watching you in his animal form whenever he could. Today was supposed to be your day, and he ruined it. "Guess you don't want to see me anymore tonight, huh?" He grumbled, feeling the nervous beat of his heart echoing in his ears as he waited for your answer.
Your eyebrows drew together in an expression of confusion at his thought. Are you expressing your feelings towards him wrongly that his conclusion is a negation instead of a positive? You gently caressed his cheek while you pulled his forehead down to yours. With a smile on your face, you were once again reminded of how Talbott had changed over the past few months - when you met two years ago, he was the same height as you and his build was rather flabby. Now when you wanted to look into his eyes, you had to tilt your head, stand on tiptoe when you wanted to kiss him on the cheek and whenever his strong arms wrapped around you, you got lost in his broad chest.
"Talbott... I'd be lying if I said I wasn't glad you're overlooked by most people, because then everyone would jump on you." The confusion was switched from one person to another after your last sentence. "You're the most beautiful, kindest person I've ever met, and every day I fall under your spell more and more. And every once in a while, when you make a romantic gesture like you did a moment ago, I feel like my heart explodes with happiness. I love it when you kiss my hair, when I come back to my room and there's a flower and a poem on my bed, or when you wish me sweet dreams and good mornings everyday." You confessed to him and tried to put into your words all your emotions of love that swirled through you like a tornado. You still couldn't believe that someone like you got such an attentive, sweet and romantic guy as a boyfriend.
"Before I met you I thought I wasn't into romance but you made me selfish and I want it, I want you, more and more." Your face turned bright red and your eyes shone with love under the late sunlight. Talbott, utterly absorbed in your beauty and sincerity, could not tear his gaze from you, and watched you in astonished silence. Once in a while you caught him staring at you during meals or classes so now when he looked at you directly, you said nothing and simply smiled at him while you stroked his brown strands, waiting for your words to settle in his heart. Heat flared in the area of Talbott's chest as he watched you, and without thinking, he pressed his lips to yours in a sweet kiss.
"I really like you." He whispered against your lips, not daring to say the other word beginning with the letter L. A wide smile lit up your face as you replied back "I like you more," and although Talbott doubted it, he didn't refute your assumption and instead pulled you to him again. He felt his stomach clench as if into itself as you used your tongue to suck his bottom lip into your mouth and without further hesitation he came to meet you. Your kissing was unhurried but full of unspoken feelings hidden deep inside each other.
Too immersed in each other's touch, you didn't notice the door opening or the dog barking a greeting behind your back. "Stop flirtin' and go back 'to the castle! Curfew's comin' up." Hagrid's voice, enriched with boisterous laughter, interrupted you, and you both jumped apart in shame.
"We're coming! We're coming!" You shout back at him while stroking Fang's grey fur. A stick lay a short distance from you, and without hesitation you raised it to brown, playful eyes. "Want this, buddy?" You already knew that if you didn't quickly divert his attention elsewhere, you'd end up on the floor under a layer of dog saliva. When he wiggled his ass in delight, you successfully reached out for the throw.
"Aport!" You swung as hard as you could and watched Fang's tail wag back and forth with joy as he tried to catch the stick in mid-air. "Good boy!" Hagrid cheered as he watched his partner catch the wood and proudly patted him on the side when he came to show him. You said goodbye with a wave of the hand and walked briskly up the hill to the shining castle, reflecting the red evening sky.
"Next time, remind me to make sure we're really alone before we start making out." Talbott, who was even red behind the ears, growled next to you. His agitated attitude amused you and you felt like teasing him, but instead you just intertwined your fingers between his. As your hand slipped under his, his tense shoulders sagged and his hurried gait slowed.
"It still wasn't as bad as the night McGonagall caught us." You reminded him and shuddered at the memory. You weren't able to look her in the eye for weeks afterwards, not to mention Snape's hatred directed at you when he found out how many points your little date night had cost you.
"Ugh, so when I finally forgot about it, you just have to go and remind me again, don't you? I didn't dare to sit next to you for the rest of the year..." Your boyfriend groaned at your side, and when a gust of cold wind picked up, you snuggled closer to his warm body. Your heart, like his, leapt when he let go of your hand and wrapped his arm around your waist instead. "The next day we were the centre of all the gossip." He mumbled, his lips forming into a cute pout.
Until then, your romance was mostly known only to your close friends, but after you were caught in the hallway by the esteemed professor, you were the talk of the town, and not just during the meals in the Great Hall. The fact that neither of you denied it encouraged the omnipresent to concoct scenarios of what you might have done together in the shadows of the night.
"But I was happy to officially call you my boyfriend every time someone asked me about you." You told him and watched his reaction out of the corner of your eye. Surprise quickly gave way to disbelief until even that was replaced by a beatific smile. The fact that you wanted to show him off made him incredibly happy and proud. He was the one who could call you his, not anybody else. And you wanted to be his as much as you wanted him to be yours. "Me too." Noted Talbott and these two simple words made you feel like a little teenager falling head over heels in love once again.
"When'll I see you again?" You ask as you walk through the gate knowing that your time together is coming to an end. You already miss him.
"Are you free tomorrow?" Finding a date when you both have time together is challenging. It seems like fate is against you every time you try to meet. You had a feeling it wouldn't be any different now, as you shook your head sadly at his question.
"I promised to help Barnaby and Liz look after Nifflers during lunch break and I still have detention with Pitts in the kitchen after dinner." Unconsciously, you squeezed Talbott's hand tighter as you tried to figure out the day when you'd at least have a moment to spare. "But I have Quidditch practice on Friday around six and then I'm off. Would you like to come see me and do some flying afterwards?" You came up with an alternative time immediately.
“I'm not sure why you think I, of all people, am the one who can fly, but...” Talbott said with a serious face, and you couldn't help laughing out loud. You always get a laugh out of his jokes addressed to his eagle form, especially when he refers to them as the most serious thing in the world. As you saw Talbott's nod of approval, you couldn't wait for Friday. Wishing you sweet dreams, he said goodbye with one last kiss. Just two days and you'll see each other again.
.
The next morning you saw each other only briefly at breakfast when you waved to each other and both went to your separate classes that day. On Thursday, your schedule was the most different - you could at least be grateful for the time together in the Great Hall where the whole school meets for a meal. But besides that, you hadn't saw the other one the whole day, and you still had a detention to go to you'd got at the end of last year. At least you had your new partner there to make the long hours over a bowl of bread dough enjoyable.
"Hey Jae! Up to no good again?" You jokingly greeted your friend, looking at his hunched back over his diary where he wrote down all his upcoming orders.
"Welcome to our worst nightmare! I was almost afraid you were gonna leave me alone tonight." He looked up at you and gave you one of his half smiles that clearly indicated, he was once again planning something nefarious.
"Only almost?" You yelled over your shoulder at him while you washed your hands in one of the sinks. A light laugh was his answer, as was an amused glint in his dark eyes as he talked to you provocatively: "Offended much?"
You reached for one of several aprons hanging on the wall and made your way back to the long table the Asian boy was leaning against, his arms folded across his chest. "Not quite what you were hoping for." You reply and watch his exaggerated gesticulation with a smile as he places his palm over his heart in disbelief.
"Less laughter and more dough kneading!" Pitts shouted at you, fed up with your positive mood. Before he could pull out his chef's cooking spoon on you, you both got down to business and expertly began working on your task.
"You got some new business?" You nodded your head towards his notebook safely hidden in his back pocket. His voice was as quiet as yours, after all, you don't want to attract unwanted attention.
"Yeah, and pretty big!" His enthusiasm just oozed out of him and it was immediately clear to you that it had something to do with visiting Knockturn Alley. With a silent raise of your eyebrows, you prompted him to speak. "There's a student in our class who's desperately in love. Looks like the girl doesn't want him, but he just doesn't care. Phuhahaha! He's ordered a month's supply and looks like he's going to become a regular customer." He laughed and started muttering something about how he had to deliver the first batch this Friday afternoon and that he had to get out of the castle as soon as possible to pick up his order.
You disagreed with the love potion delivery - you remembered too well how you persuaded Ismelda not to use the potion on your mutual friend, and you just hoped that this time you would be able to prevent it as well. But Jae guarded his client's name like a hawk and refused to tell you. Although you were his friend and partner in several of his jokes, he was aware of your responsibility as prefect and had no doubt that you would prevent his new business. He couldn't afford that happening.
You crawled to your room late at night, determined to find out as soon as possible who was willing to go to such lengths to force someone into false love. First thing in the morning you're gonna meet Penny and ask her for help. You didn't know of anyone better than your blonde friend, who can keep tabs on all matters circulating around the castle.
.
Talbott woke up to a raining morning. It looked like it was going to be cold and wet all day today, yet he knew your team wouldn't cancel their practice. Just like the previous year, you made it to the finals with your hard work and great teamwork. You have worked harder than ever before - after all defending the title for the third time in a row won't be easy.
Talbott took his Ravenclaw sweater out of the closet and pulled it over his shirt. As he smoothed his robes his eyes fell on his spare, warmer sweater and without further thought he grabbed it and neatly folded it into his bag. 'She's often cold...' He thought as your self came to his mind and with a satisfied smile went to breakfast.
Exceptionally, he saw you before he heard you, which was unusual. He could recognize your boisterous laughter from across the hall and was always pleased to know that you were in a good mood every morning. Today, however, he saw you bent over next to your fair-haired friend with a thoughtful look on your face while you listened to Penny whispers. Not wanting to disturb you, he sat down at the very end of the table, as he used to do before you began to eat breakfast and dinner together. He missed you, but he didn't dare come between you and Penny.
Now that he was sitting alone again after a long time, he realized how much joy you brought into his world. The loud conversation, laughter and clinking of cutlery on plates turned into a uniform background noise. He knew it was impossible, but it seemed to him that even the ubiquitous colours had lost their saturation, as if they had faded slightly...
Talbott lost his appetite when he realized how dependent he actually is on you. Without you by his side, he had nothing to live for. Was his existence before you always so pointless and boring?
"Hey, love" the sing-song voice and the gentle embrace of arms around his shoulders broke him out of his reverie. Talbott smiled as his body leaned more into your embrace. "What are you thinking about again, huh? You should take a break from your brain once in a while." You joked and kissed him gently on the cheek. The gentle gesture of your affection to him shook his inhibitions so much that he pulled you to his face and quickly pressed his lips to yours.
"Just thinking about how much I need you in my life." He confessed, watching as your face brightened to happily incredulous. He could have sworn he even saw you happily hopping on the spot from one foot to the other a few times. If only he knew how much you were fangirling over him at that moment... Let's just say you were glad you didn't squeeled aloud.
"Thank you. I feel the same way, but... You should still take a break once in a while!" You brought the direction of your conversation back to it's original rail and sat down next to your boyfriend, who was feeling particularly determined today - so much so that he wraped his arm around your waist. You took advantage of the offered bite and scooped up the entire plate as you hugged him back and pressed your head over his chest. You were pleased when he didn't protest and instead rested his chin gently on top your head.
"You are one to talk. Couldn't you at least take a day off from solving all the problems and mysteries that arise in Hogwarts?" He snorted, brushing his hand over your arm in slow strokes.
"If I'm not the one saving Hogwarts, than who is?" You utter almost without interest and reach for his unfinished toast and take a bite. "Besides, it's nothing serious, just the possibility of fooling some girl with a love potion." You say and watch Talbott slowly nod his head while he bites into the toast in your hand. He's suddenly very hungry.
He sure as hell didn't want to get involved in any of your dangerous adventures. Rather on the contrary, he wished you would stop doing this heroic thing of yours, so he wouldn't have to worry about losing you every day. Yet he understood your motives for seeking another vault. If he himself had even the slightest hope of saving his parents, he would have rushed after it without hesitation. The love potion certainly wasn't as bad as your fight with a werewolf.
After breakfast, you said goodbye again, each heading to your classes. He knew he'd see you again in transfiguration class, and later he'd come to watch you train. Still, he couldn't help checking the clock every few minutes to see when it would finally be lunchtime.
His first lesson was DADA, which he definitely enjoyed more last year, when you had it together and he could secretly admire your talent for spells. He enjoyed sitting by your side and liked the warmth radiating from where your elbows or thighs touched, but to be able to watch you from the back pew as you demonstrated to the class how best to fight a ghoul? You looked hot. And he got to call you his.
Professor Green began her lesson. He already knew the spell she was teaching in today's lecture, so he could afford to let his mind wander to you and pay partial attention to the explanation of the origin and history of the defensive spell.
When the time for the demonstration came, his eyes watched professor's every move with atentive eyes. What snapped him out of his enchantment were the two voices of the boys in front of him.
"Ain't she hot?" A low snicker fell from his friend's lips.
"I bet she is an easy one. She craves attention so much she'll stretch for anyone." Another wave of laughter rose accompanied by a series of vulgar hand gestures. Talbott felt his stomach twist into a knot of disgust. How dare they talk like this about someone? Talbott tried not to pay attention to their pathetic conversation, but their sonorous voices pierced his ears like a needle through a vein.
"Maybe. But I won't leave anything to chance." Said the first boy, dressed in bright green, with a disgusting smile plastered across his ugly mug.
"What'da ya mean by that?" The other asked curiously, and though Talbott partly did not want to hear the answer, he found himself straining his hearing in order to not miss a single word. Although he is not the confrontational type and prefers to solve problems verbally rather than with his fists or a duel, he still vividly recalling his conversation with you during breakfeast about some guy with love potion. Even if he couldn't prevent the Slythering boy from coming to the girl and stopping him, he can still hear the plan and either keep a close eye on him or warn you he's Jae's new client.
"I insured it." The answer came, and he pulled an unmarked vial of potion from his robe pocket. Talbott's mind spun into overdrive as soon as his eyes caught sight of the black vial. He must be the one who bought the love potion. The chances that among the 600 students are more guys who wanted to deliver a love potion on this day are minimal, but possible. The chances that he's the one you're looking for are less than 1%. The chances that he's the one you're looking for are less than 1%.
He didn't have to wait too long. Transfiguration class came sooner than he'd hoped, and as soon as he saw you talking to Andre outside the classroom, he immediately headed over to you. "Hey," you waved at him, but before you could say anything else, he grabbed your arm. "I think I know who the guy with the love potion is." He blurted out quickly, answering your question about who is it, before you could finish asking. "Some Slythering guy in our year. Don't know his name, but he has dark brown hair and eyes. Big beauty mark on his left cheek." You nodded and thought deeply. There are a lot of brown-haired boys in Slytherin, but only two in your year. The beauty mark will be your best shot at deciding which one is it.
"Thank you, this will help us a lot. I'll tell the others what you found out and we'll try to find him during the breaks and convince him not to do it." You smiled at him, and a sense of pride came over Talbott. He was glad he could help you a little.
"Did they happen to mention the girl's name?" You asked curiously, knowing how valuable this information was. It would be easy to warn her, and even easier to have one from your group watch over her at all times. The dismissive shake of his head was a disappointing but not devastating.
"Never mind. We're gonna have to focus on finding the guy first. Shouldn't be too hard." You assume, and with newfound vigor, you head to class together. How hard can it be to find one student when you know what house he is from, plus you know his general description? Apparently much harder than you originally thought.
He was nowhere to be found. The search party was joined by others besides Penny, with Barnaby and Liz guarding the Slytherin dorm while the others searched every nook and cranny. At lunch, Talbott thought he spotted him, but he was easily lost in the crowd of other students. During the break between classes you always tried to search as many rooms as possible, but there wasn't much spare time.
Rowan and Ben were in the library while Tulip kept watch in the Courtyard. Chiara, Andre and Badeea were each in one of the clubs, while the others were running around the castle from one classroom to another. You knew about every hiding place in the castle and searched them all - without success. Eventually you got to the point where you couldn't continue your search with the others - you had to go to your practise. Skye and Orion won't let you sneak out of training just before the finals.
You were just coming down the spiral staircase in your Quidditch outfit when you caught Penny and Talbott walking towards you. “We thought we'd go somewhere not too crowded so Talbott could change and get a bird's eye view of the school grounds.” Penny told you their new plan. “Sounds like a good idea to me.” You nodded your head in agreement. It wasn’t a bad idea at all, Talbott can cover a large area in a relatively short period of time while he’s in his animagus form.
“Don't worry if you don't find him today. Maybe he doesn't even want to give her the potion today, and we've all wasted a whole day looking for him for nothing.” You told your boyfriend since you knew what a perfectionist he secretly is and that even though he doesn't show it, he really wants to help you in your search. He smiled appreciatively at you: “I know, I know. You don't have to comfort me yet.” He joked.
“Well, we should get going, just like you.” The blonde inserted herself into your little exchange, and before she left, she made sure to wish you good luck, along with an apology for not being able to come see you today. She started up the stairs, but Talbott did not immediately follow. “I'll make about two rounds and if I can't find him, I'll fly out to see you like I originally promised.” He walked over to you and tucked one naughty strand that had escaped from your ponytail behind your ear. His voice was much quieter than usual. “He doesn't have to ruin our date, does he?”
“No, he really doesn't have to.” You nodded and kissed him lightly on the lips. “Looking forward to seeing you.” You winked at him with a playful smile and skipped down the rest of the staircase. Talbott watched your hair bounce with each step and only when he lost sight of you did he follow his friend.
Although he didn't imagine today to be a hectic day, he was glad for the chance to stretch his wings and fly. It always cleared his mind beautifully. He couldn't relax that much with anything else, unless you included falling asleep in your arms. He turned his wings to catch the current of the wind and let it drift freely, while his keen eyes searched for the brown-haired boy.
Halfway through his second loop around the castle, he noticed Jae waving his arms frantically to catch his attention. Talbott descended into the shadow of the stone wall where he transformed back. As soon as his boots touched solid ground he came out to meet the boy in the yellow sweatshirt who was already running in his direction.
“Where’s Y/N?” He blurted out before Talbott could say anything. “She’s on the pitch, they have a practice today.” He didn't understand what good this information would do him, but he still gave the location of your current whereabouts without hesitation.
“Crap... That’s not good. Not good at all...” Jae started mumbling to himself, completely ignoring the Ravenclaw student in front of him. “What’s wrong mate?” Talbott's question seemed to snap the Asian out of his rant. He grabbed Talbott's shoulders and squeezed them tightly: “If I'd known sooner, I swear I wouldn't have given him the potion! I didn't know it was Y/N! You have to believe me, ‘kay? I would never-”
“What about Y/N? What’s wrong with her!? You aren’t making any sense!” An irritated Talbott jumped in. He wanted to know immediately what was going on with you, but Jae was babbling about unimportant things instead. “Cut to the point!”
“Philip wants to give that love potion to Y/N!”
Doupt.
Betrayal.
Resentment.
Bitterness.
Fear.
Talbott’s mind became preoccupied with intense emotions and hostility towards that Phil or whatever his name is. He was in a jealous rage. You were his girlfriend and the whole school knew that and yet he dared to take you away from him by pushing himself onto you with creating fake, illusionary feelings?
No way in hell.
There’s no way in hell he’ll let that happen.
The stiff body started to move on its own. The walk was replaced by a fast stride, which was transformed into a run within a few seconds. Talbott has never had a reason to run in his life. Jae shouted at him from behind his back where he was going and what had gone into him, but Talbott's brain registered only a high-pitched squeak. Nothing was more important to him than getting to you in time to stop you from drinking that stupid potion.
His feet carried him halfway when he saw you slowly sliding down to the ground, where a black and green blur waved at you. His labored breathing turned to wheezing as he picked up speed. He called your name again and again, but distance silenced his desperate cries. His side stabbingly stung when you landed on the ground a few feet away from Philip.
He won't make it.
An icy drop of terror flooded his body as he watched you accept the offered drinking bottle with mistrust in your eyes. His neck tightened into a narrow slit as your mouth approached the neck of the bottle. He must have spilled the potion in there. There was no springly water but a disgusting love potion!
Your mouth widened in a blissful smile as you said something to Philip, the bottle ever near, ever present in your hand. It felt like everzthing around him stopped and gone silent. Talbott almost stopped at that moment. Almost. But he was too close for that. You were almost within arm's reach...
He was aware of his rude behaviour when he flew between you like an unguided missile and knocked the bottle out of your hand in one fell swoop. The contents of the bottle remained untouched and before he could think about it his impulse made him grab the bottle, open it and spill the last drop on the ground. He watched with smug pleasure as the liquid seeped into the ground.
“The fuck you think you’re doing?” A scratchy voice shouted at him. Talbott was frazzled enough as it was, and his words were the last straw for him. He rose briskly to his feet and pointed his wand at the center of his chest. A simple wave and a word threw Philip back a few feet, his ass hitting the ground hard with a cry of pain.
“Don’t touch my girlfriend asshole.” It was the first time you saw Talbott pissed off, really pissed off. It was also the first time you've seen him pull a wand on someone and use a curse word. It was, to say the least... Remarkable. And even though it wasn't welcome in this situation, you couldn't resist the feeling of happiness that spread through you like a disease. You really liked how protective he was of you.
The sudden commotion drew attention of your teammates and it wasn't long before they formed a circle around you. “What’s happening here?” Orion asked as his searching gaze swept over the three people in front of him - two on their feet while one was sprawled on the ground.
“He wanted to give her a love potion.” Talbott growled through gritted teeth, never taking his eyes off his enemy.
“That seems to me to be quite a serious accusation that should not be made without solid reasons which will prove its truth.” Orion said in a serious tone, his hands clasped behind his back. “He’s lying!” In a desperate attempt to save himself, the accused caught hold of a thrown safety rope. Now that there wasn't a shred of evidence left, they had nothing on him. Once he realized this fact, he clumsily scrambled to his feet with a newfound confidence.
“But we have, though.“ You put yourself in and stood by the side of your love. A disbelieving "what" fell from the boy's lips. You smiled at his sudden change in demeanor - he was looking at you like a mouse caught in a trap. “Don't you know I'm friends with Jae?“ You started listing your evidence, starting with the most obvious one.
“That doesn’t prove anything!” He snapped back at you, but it didn't escape your eyes as he clenched his hands into fists to stop the shaking.
“No, it doesn not.” You agreed with him. Until Jae's here and points the finger himself, it's just word against word. “But running your mouth in the middle of class, talking about how you're going to give me a love potion is, don't you think? Revealing your plan before it was implemented is not recommended.” You put another nail in the coffin. You hammered another nail in the coffin, ready at any moment to use disarming spells on Philip, whose face had turned red with rage. To the astonishment of everyone else, however, it was the young man standing on your left who could not keep his anger in check.
Talbott sent a series of curses in Philip's direction, accompanied by resonating memories of a conversation that directly involved you. No one will call you a bawd in his presence. Not without consequences. “I was sitting right behind you and your little friend when you were bad-mouthing my girlfriend.” Talbott huffed through his clenched jaw, his knuckles whitening as he gripped his wand tightly.
“That still doesn't prove anything...!” Philip defended himself while protecting his face with his hands. At that moment, you felt like you were the perpetrator and not him. Not wanting to subject him to something like that, even if he deserved it, so you lowered Talbott's rised hand. You spoke the next words in a quieter, calmer voice. “Didn't I tell you I smell fresh straw and cool wind when you gave me the bottle?” A positive nod was accompanied by a confused arching of the eyebrows. You couldn't help smiling as you began to vividly recall the scent that had become your favourite. “Even if I didn't know beforehand that someone was here to slip me Amortentia, I would have known immediately by the smell. It's his scent.” You looked behind you to where Talbott stood as you spoke your last words. Those were meant for him.
“I'm sure I don't have to explain what that means, do I?” You looked back at Philip, who quickly mumbled a hissing no and almost ran back to the castle without another word. You felt that you wouldn't have to deal with this matter any longer.
“He could have at least apologized.” Talbott muttered, still irritated, but you could see your smart, patient man in him again.
“I have everything I need with me.” You squeezed Talbott's warm palm in yours. “I can do without his apology.” The love in your eyes smiled at him like warm rays of sunshine, and Talbott couldn't resist the temptation to steal one of your sweet kisses.
“That's enough with the flirting, right? We've still got practice to do!” Skye shouted at you, always relentless when it came to Quidditch. It was with great difficulty that you pulled away from the soft lips still pressed against yours. “Looks like I have to go.” You said, even though you knew Talbott had much better hearing than you and the comment thrown to the wind didn't escape him.
“I'll wait for you in the auditorium. Go score as many goals as you can.” He shooed you away with another promise he whispered in his head. Tonight is the perfect night for him to tell you he loves you.

Can you do a Talbott x jacob’s sibling story? He gets jealous when another classmate slips you a love potion
Yes! This was such a pleasure to write.
So, I debated whether I wanted Tally boy and MC to be together or not already for this, but @lisin-drw (who does THE CUTEST Talbott X MC stuff) has this super cute comic which takes place before they officially get together. So, I did this one where they are already a little established. I hope you enjoy! 😊
SPOILERS: Some minor spoilers for some of the Romance quests.

He knew something was wrong when Penny Haywood was not cheery.
“Talbott!”
His gaze darts up to her, the shrill tone of her voice the first indicator that something’s amiss. Sure enough, tears blot her eyes.
“Talbott, I’m so sorry!”
He furrows his brow. “What do you mean?”
Penny shakes her head and starts babbling. “I didn’t know— when Billingsley asked me for help I thought it was for a Potions exam— I should have realized— I’m so sorry!”
“Hold on. You need to calm down.” The evenness of his tone betrays the tightening in his chest.
If Billingsley was involved, could this be about you?
“Penny, what happened?”
She gulps and confirms his fears. “It’s [Y/N]. Billingsley slipped her a love potion.”
Talbot’s heart skips a beat.
“She’s in class right now with Professor Sprout, but—”
He’s shifted into an eagle before she can even finish, zipping through the sky to get to you. Normally he’s more cautious about who sees him in his animagus form. But right now, the churning in his stomach is all he can focus on.
He has your schedule memorized. Fortunately, Billingsley isn’t in your Herbology class. But he’s in History of Magic with you right afterwards.
Talbot reaches the East Floor quickly. He shifts and begins running down the hall as soon as his human feet hit the ground— much to the shock of some First-Years roaming the halls. He makes his way towards the greenhouse, but then freezes in place.
Billingsley is waiting for you, leaned against the stone wall just outside of the Herbology classroom.
Talbott clenches his jaw.
How could he do this to you?
Talbott is normally a private person. He never used to care about what anyone else thought.
Until the holiday ball, when everyone’s eyes were on you in your stunning dress.
Until the spring festival, when everyone stared at the two of you holding hands, and instead of shying away from the glances he felt pride swell in his chest.
Until Flitwick’s play, when the thought that someone else would be the co-star kissing you on stage made his heart palpitate to the point that he scrambled to sign up for an audition.
Him. Talbott Winger. Auditioning.
Even McGonnagal had commented on the oddity of it.
But, how does the phrase go? Love makes you do crazy things?
So now, staring at Billingsley, waiting with a giddy smirk on his face for you to exit the classroom where you must’ve drank his potion— Talbott is surprisingly unsurprised with how his own anger darkens him.
“Billingsley.”
The boy quickly spins around. He grimaces at Talbott.
“Winger?”
“Did you really think I wouldn’t find out?” Talbott’s heart is pounding as he approaches Billingsley.
“I— listen, this is a misunderstanding—“
“There’s nothing to be misunderstood.” Talbott’s voice is hushed in rage.
Billingsley opens his mouth to say something more, when the doors to the Herbology classroom burst open.
“Class dismissed!” Sprout’s voice rings out, and robes flash through the doorway before she can even finish.
It’s you.
Talbott watches you rush up to him and Billingsley. Your eyes dart between the two boys.
Talbott reaches out to you. “[Y/N]? Are you alright?”
You blink. Then burst into a smile.
“Billingsley!!”
Talbott’s gut wrenches.
“Merlin, I can’t believe I’ve never seen it before, but you are so handsome, Billy!!” you exclaim.
Talbott flinches. The expression on your face— that’s the same look he so adores on you, the one that you gave him when he rearranged the library for you, when he decorated the greenhouse on Valentines day, when he surprised you after your one-act play...
“And so smart and refined! Can we please spend the rest of the day together?”
Billingsley glances nervously at Talbott as you continue on. He gulps. “It— it wasn’t supposed to be like this—”
“What do you mean?” You exclaim. “Billy, everything is perfect because you’re here!”
You take a step towards Billingsley.
Talbott steps between you.
“Starlight—“ he begs, placing his hands on your shoulders “—please, this isn’t you—”
But you wrench yourself away from his grasp. “Let go! I want to get to Billingsley!”
Talbott blanches.
“Listen, we need to get you to Madam Pomfrey.”
You shake your head, and suddenly your attention is over his shoulder.
“Billingsley!” You shout, shoving past Talbott.
He turns to see the culprit running down the hall. “Wait!” You cry, dashing after him. “I think we should get married! We’d make such a perfect match!”
Talbott clenches his fist.
He transforms into an eagle and soars past you. He unshifts in the hallway right in front of Billingsley, who skids to a halt.
“Talbott, I’m sorry! I didn’t think it would actually work!”
Talbott scowls at him. He draws his wand.
“Bloody hell,” Billingsley curses, “you wouldn’t actually hurt me, would you?!”
Talbott grits his teeth and points his wand forward.
Billingsley raises his hands to his face and braces himself.
“Immobulus!”
The beam of magic shoots over Billingsley’s shoulder. Behind him, you’ve frozen in your tracks.
Billingsley slacks in relief, but Talbott marches up to him.
Talbott stares daggers into the boy’s eyes. Billingsley’s adam's apple bobs up and down.
“Leave [Y/N] alone,” Talbott says.
Talbott doesn’t turn around, but hears Billingsley trip on his way running back to his dorm.
– - - -
“Mr. Winger. She is ready to see you now.”
Talbott nods and thanks Madam Pomfrey. Thankfully, Professor Sprout witnessed the whole thing. Billingsley was reprimanded, and Talbott praised for his restraint. The professors quickly took you to the hospital wing, but –because Billinglsey had produced the love potion with the careful instruction of Penny, who kept apologizing profusely– you were completely fine.
When he enters the wing, he immediately notices your eyes light up at the sight of him.
It makes his heart leap.
“Tally!” You exclaim.
He rushes to you and wraps you in an embrace.
“Are you feeling better?” He asks, sitting on the edge of your bed.
You blush. “Yes, but I remember everything. I’m so sorry– you know I didn’t mean any of that, right?”
He smiles. “Yes, Starlight. Besides, Billingsley? Being smart and handsome? If it weren’t a love potion, the only other logical conclusion would have been that you were stupefied.”
You giggle, then take his hand in yours. “Still, though. I’m sorry to put you through all this, Talbott.” You squeeze his hand in yours. “I should have known something was off when my drink smelled different.”
Talbott’s heart suddenly lurches. He is almost scared to ask. “What… what did it smell like?” His heart is pounding— what if it smelled like someone else?
But your laugh interrupts his spiraling thoughts. You beam at him.
“Oh, Talbott— it smelled like the Owlery.”

Talbott x MC(Cereza)
Silent bloom
Tumblr media
"It's Valentine's Day at Hogwarts, and love is in the air, along with a whiff of that tricky amortentia potion. Snape teaches the fourth year students about amortentia, the potion stirs unexpected emotions among students, unraveling concealed affections for their fellow classmates, including Talbott, who finally realizes he's got a thing for his best friend Cereza. On the flip side, Cereza, clueless about Talbott's feelings, hears about the whole amortentia drama and decides she needs to find out what went down."
(I dont really like the first valentines day sq so I decided to write my own story because why not?)
It was Valentine's Day, and the air was thick with love, intermingled with nervousness, shyness, and, unfortunately, quite a bit of rejection. And then there was Amortentia – that enchanting elixir of infatuation and intrigue. Professor Snape had orchestrated a lesson on spotting and detecting Amortentia's intoxicating aroma for the students, hoping to arm students against the temptation should anyone ever offer them the love potion.
Cereza, a Hufflepuff with a penchant for curiosity, had already endured this peculiar class alongside her fellow Hufflepuff housemates and even the enigmatic Slytherin students from the fourth year. The room had buzzed with embarrassed and befuddled teenagers as they inhaled the scents that sent their hearts aflutter. Cereza's Amortentia had, at first, been pleasant, but then it transformed into something reminiscent of the owlery. Perplexed but also confused, she decided to ignore and carry on.
After her class, it was time for Gryffindors and Ravenclaws to undergo this intriguing experience together. Cereza's twin brother, Michael, a proud Gryffindor, was next in line, and she couldn't help but be curious about what his Amortentia would smell like. In the meantime while she waited for his class to be over, latecomers exchanged Valentine's Day letters, chocolates, and other romantic tokens, and Cereza watched with a wistful gaze, yearning for such a day in her future.
Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted by Michael's irate arrival at the Hufflepuff table, despite his Gryffindor status, cheeks ablaze and an angry pout on his lips. Cereza, aware of her brother's notorious temper, couldn't help but say, "Uh oh. What now?"
Michael mirrored her question, his anger seething. "What now?!" he repeated, his voice ringing through the Great Hall, causing Cereza to caution him against a house points debacle.
"Calm down, and don't yell. Professor Snape could hear you, and you know what happened last time," she warned him, making her twin roll his eyes, as he knew exactly what she was talking about.
"I don't give a darn…" he muttered, though he knew Cereza was right.
Cereza sighed and fixed her gaze on him. "Was it the Amortentia class?" she inquired.
"OF COURSE, IT WAS THAT RIDICULOUS LESSON!"
"Merlin's beard, don't shout!"
"Sorry," Michael grumbled, still visibly embarrassed and angry. "It's just that I may have let slip something that could attract unwanted attention."
Cereza's curiosity piqued, and she rested her chin in her hands, her golden eyes gleaming. "Oh, embarrassing revelations? Tell me more," she prodded, earning another eye-roll from her brother, who still seethed with annoyance.
"Whatever, I just blurted out my thoughts..."
"What did you say?"
Michael, to keep it brief, explained that he may have mentioned that the Amortentia scent reminded him of someone, but before he could reveal the name, he had shut his mouth, inadvertently letting the entire class in on his secret crush. For Cereza, this came as no surprise; she knew her brother was enamored with a particular Slytherin student with a gentle heart.
"At least my reaction wasn't as bad as Winger's," Michael chuckled mischievously.
This comment left Cereza both curious and concerned. Talbott Winger was her best friend, a mysterious student with very few friends, making her unique connection with him the talk of the school.
"What happened to him?" she asked, her worry evident as her brother swiped a sandwich from her plate and began to munch.
"I don't know. When he smelled the Amortentia, his eyes went WIDE," he answered between bites. "His face turned as red as a tomato."
"Really???"
"Yeah, and he was so surprised, that he stepped back and knocked into the table behind him, nearly causing a commotion. Professor Snape noticed and reprimanded him, shifting the attention away from me."
Cereza shook her head in disappointment that her brother found humor in this, especially given the peculiar rivalry between Michael and Talbott. "I don't find it funny. What happened next?"
"Oh, he bolted from the classroom."
"HE WHAT?!"
"Whoa, remember what you said about not yelling?" Michael teased, causing Cereza to react with indignation; she was just worried about her friend, especially given that Talbott wouldn't leave class out of nowhere. "But anyway, Tulip offered to chase after him, but Snape advised against it. He did lose quite a few house points, though."
"Oh dear... Why do you think he reacted that way?"
"Are you serious? Isn't it obvious?" Michael stared at her, his expression a mix of disbelief and amusement. "He's got a crush on someone, Cereza. I feel bad for whoever that poor, unsuspecting soul may be."
Cereza came to Talbott's defense, her anger evident. "Don't say that!"
"But it's true!"
As Michael continued to pilfer her food, Cereza couldn't help but ponder who Talbott's secret crush might be. Was it Penny? It wouldn't be surprising, given her beauty and intelligence and for some reason this caused a heavy feeling in Cereza's heart and she didnt understand why it made her feel that way... He was just a friend, right? But anyways who wouldn't be smitten by Penny? If it wasn't her, then the question remained: who was it that had captured Talbott's heart?
—---
Beyond the castle walls, Penny, a bright and young Hufflepuff with a profound affection and talent for potion-making, was on a determined quest to find her friend, the mysterious Ravenclaw, Talbott Winger. The murmurs of the Amortentia incident had reached her ears, and an urgent sense of purpose compelled her to seek him out. After her not finding nowhere inside the castle she knew exactly where to go: to the owlery, a place shunned by many for its owl chatter, the perpetual dirt, and distinctive aroma. For Talbott, however, it held an inexplicable charm, a sanctuary where he retreated when lost in thought and be alone and Penny knew that.
Climbing a set of stairs, she found him amidst the fluttering feathers and soulful hoots, his attention fixated on a specific owl, gently caressing its head, an act of affection returned by the feathered creature.
"There you are!" Penny exclaimed, her voice resonating with genuine concern, nearly shouting in her relief. Talbott, her fellow Ravenclaw, shifted his surprised gaze her way. "I was so worried for you."
Talbott turned his gaze toward Penny, then back at the owl, his expression a cocktail of embarrassment and an attempt to mask it. "What do you want...?" he inquired, his voice carrying a subtle tone of irritation.
"I came looking for you. I heard you vanished after Snape's class, and I was genuinely concerned," Penny explained, her voice subtly conveying, 'Why are you even asking? We're friends, after all.' "WE were worried."
"We?" Talbott repeated her words, staring at her with a quizzical expression.
"Yeah! Me and Cereza!" She explains as Cereza herself also came to her a while ago, asking if she knew where Talbott was.
Talbott's eyes widened as he heard the other’s Hufflepuf’s name, and he shook his head, turning his gaze away as if he hoped to shield his reaction. "So, others besides you also know about it."
"Duh, it's the talk of the school," Penny chimed in with a playful smile. "Everyone's dying to know who has captured the mysterious Talbott Winger's heart."
"And by 'everyone,' you're also including yourself, aren't you?" he asked, his arms crossed, his gaze carrying a tinge of judgment, and a raised eyebrow.
"Yep!" Penny replied, revealing a layer of honesty that made Talbott snort with amusement, his apprehension momentarily lightened. At least Penny was straightforward, and he genuinely enjoyed her company, viewing her as a friend.
"It's not you, so don't worry," Talbott jokes, trying to joke about the conversation as a way to make it less awkward for him.
"I know it's not me, you idiot," Penny laughed. "But I think I've got a pretty good idea of who it is." Talbott rolled his eyes at her statement as she almost sang it.
"No, you don't."
"You're not as good at hiding your emotions and gazes as you think, Talbott," she teased, strolling around him.
"Oh, really?" he countered. "So, who is it?"
She met his gaze, her blue eyes sparkling mischievously as she circled him, playing with her blonde braids. "Well... it's someone you adamantly claimed you weren't friends with until you finally relented..."
Penny began to describe, and Talbott's discomfort grew as he attempted to hide it, still with his arms crossed to his chest, his posture shifting from confidence to that of someone who'd been caught.
"Someone who likes helping others, has a soft spot for even the most dangerous magical creatures..."
Oh no.
"Someone who is kind and gentle, has the cutest afro puffs..."
Talbott's cheeks started to burn as Penny continued.
"Has the most beautiful golden eyes I've ever seen, and is freckled from head to toe..."
Penny smirked, noticing the effect her words were having on Talbott as his posture shifted once more, from confident to revealed.
Her eyes danced with excitement as she continued, "Someone who's a fellow Hufflepuff but also... a curse breaker!" Her words brimmed with enthusiasm as she proclaimed, "The lucky person who has your cold heart in her gentle hands is none other than...
Cereza Gomez herself! Am I correct, Talbott?" Her playful tone held a hint of anticipation, a touch of mischief in her sparkling eyes.
"...I have no idea what you're talking about," Talbott stammered, his voice revealing his discomfort and embarrassment. He attempted to leave the conversation, his cheeks still burning with embarrassment, and his nervousness more palpable than ever, but Penny stood her ground, blocking his path.
"Wait-"
"Leave me alone!" Talbott blurted out, his frustration and unease apparent. He hurried past her, his hurried exit a clear sign that he was running away, not just from Penny, but from the emotions he couldn't bring himself to confront. Penny noticed that the owl he was petting early had a worried look as if it understood the situation and Penny immediately recognized who this owl was from: It was Cereza's.
Penny pouted, her finger gently pressed against her chin as she contemplated the enigma that was Talbott Winger. She watched him disappear from the owlery, knowing he was in denial about his feelings for Cereza. She didn't mean to make him this uncomfortable but the question remained – how could she help him face the truth and his true emotions?
—----
As Talbott briskly exited the owlery, the cold air outside offered no solace for the internal tempest raging within him. He fixed his uniform as a way of showing he was fine. Penny’s words echo the turmoil in his mind. He found himself at a crossroads, caught in a dilemma that demanded a decision — confront his true feelings for Cereza or bury them deep within, shielding himself from the potential pain of rejection and the risk of ruining their friendship.
As he roamed the Hogwarts corridor, Talbott couldn't escape the intense scrutiny of fourth-year students; whispers trailed him like shadows. Deciding to retreat to his dorm, he flopped onto his bed. Staring at the ceiling, thoughts of Cereza took over, a rollercoaster of emotions he hadn't signed up for. Initially unimpressed by her and her brother, time had woven a connection, evolving from attachment to full-blown admiration, spiraling into something beyond his control.
Laying on his bed, his mind drifted to Cereza. Her kindness felt like a cozy blanket, wrapping around him. Sweet nature characterized by caring gestures to friends, himself included. The mental image of her, beautiful and cute with freckles like stardust, sent a blush creeping across his cheeks.
The way she effortlessly brought a smile to his face whether through a simple chat or her captivating antics. There was one memorable occasion when she proudly unveiled a magical creature she had successfully tamed – a lively Niffler. As she introduced the creature, it took mere moments for the mischievous Niffler to spy something glittering in her pockets. What ensued was a delightful chaos. Cereza, determined to safeguard her shiny possession, engaged in a whimsical battle with the persistent Niffler. Picture her attempting to pry the creature off, only for it to cling back with unmatched tenacity. The comical scene unfolded as Cereza, in a mix of laughter and exasperation, maneuvered to keep her sparkly find out of the Niffler's mischievous grasp.
Talbott, an unexpected spectator to this spectacle, couldn't help but find the chaos caused by the Niffler funny. Talbott never imagined he'd be charmed by such a scene, finding the mix of cuteness and humor hilarious. Even now, the detailed recollection brought a smile to his face.
But it was Cereza's determination that seized him most deeply. Her relentless drive to help, fix, and tackle the seemingly impossible fueled an unspoken admiration within Talbott. Her ability to turn challenges into possibilities left him in awe, finding both captivation and solace in her strength and resilience.
Yet, fear crept into his thoughts as he mulled it over. The idea of laying bare his emotions, risking their friendship, scared him to his core. The delicate balance between friendship and something more weighed heavily on his heart. Talbott's mind became a battleground, torn between a yearning for connection and the dread of losing someone dear.
Within the quiet confines of the Ravenclaw dorm at Hogwarts, Talbott faced a pivotal choice. Would he muster the courage to acknowledge the emotions swirling within, or would he opt for the safety of silence, protecting their friendship? The room held its breath as the weight of his decision hung in the air, an unspoken tension settling within the Ravenclaw dorm. However the day wasn't over yet and Talbott had a surprise waiting for him.
—----
Strolling through the castle, Penny pondered how to create the perfect setup for her friend Talbott to confess to his crush. Ideas swirled in her mind, but the risk of things going south lingered in every scenario.
"Okay, Penny, how can I make this work?" she mused, determined to play matchmaker for her dear friend and another close companion who happens to be her housemate.
"Penny!" Speaking of the devil, Cereza dashed over, a worried expression etched on her face. "Have you seen him?"
It dawned on Penny that Cereza was also on the hunt for Talbott. Suddenly, a mischievous glint in Penny's blue eyes met Cereza's innocent golden gaze, and an idea sparked.
—----
Talbott, succumbing to hunger's insistent tug, decided to brave the Great Hall despite the persistent gossip. The clatter and chatter within, however, drove him away, and he opted for a quieter place for him to eat away from the gossip.
Securing a plate from the Ravenclaw table, he embarked on through the castle's labyrinth, eventually finding himself perched on a secluded staircase, hidden away from the whispers echoing in the corridors.
Lost in his thoughts, Talbott failed to detect the soft footsteps approaching until a familiar voice disrupted his solitude.
"Tal?" The gentle call startled him mid-bite, making him almost choke, and he recognized that one only person called him by this affectionate nickname– Cereza.
Turning his head towards the voice, his eyes widened as Cereza stood at the top of the staircase, her usual Hogwarts uniform replaced by a cozy ensemble: a red sweater from Bill, a white shirt underneath, and a black skirt. The golden hues of her eyes met his startled orange-red gaze as he put his plate aside.
"Cereza?"
"There you are! I was looking for you." Her voice, laced with concern, accompanied her descent to sit beside him. Proximity played its part, and Talbott's face flushed, caught off guard.
"W-What brings you here?" he stuttered, attempting to regain composure.
"Penny told me everything!" The revelation struck like a lightning bolt, sinking Talbott's heart as he felt his body freeze and his stomach act weird.
She did what?
The revelation hung in the air, tension intertwining with the quiet corners of the staircase. Talbott's voice, tinged with a mix of anger and embarrassment, broke through the silence. "She did what?!" The sting of betrayal etched into his words, as he trusted Penny to not tell anyone. “I can't believe she—"
Before he could continue, Cereza's arms enveloped him, pulling him into a hug. Though not a fan of hugs, especially in this awkward situation, Talbott hesitated before slowly reciprocating, feeling his face burn and turn red. The hug, despite its unexpectedness, offered an odd comfort, leaving Talbott uncertain about how to respond as his heart raced.
"I... I didn't want you to find out this way. I wanted to tell you myself," he muttered, his embarrassment palpable.
"It's okay, I'm not mad or anything like that," she consoled him, snuggling closer with her chin on his shoulder. "It's not like this ruined our friendship or anything."
Relief washed over Talbott, but uncertainty lingered. Did her acceptance mean reciprocation, or was it merely understanding?
"How... exactly do you feel about this?" he asked, a mix of excitement and nervousness evident in his voice as he awaited her response.
Cereza took a moment before answering, "What do you mean? Why should my feelings matter about this?"
Confusion knitted their expressions as Talbott withdrew from the hug, staring at Cereza with a puzzled look mirrored in her eyes.
"What exactly did Penny tell you?" The Ravenclaw inquired.
"Uh... that you had feelings for someone, but they rejected you," she answered. "And she wanted me to comfort you because she said you wouldn't open up to her, that's why I hugged you because you know I know it must be hard to deal with these feelings."
Talbott blinked a few times, a surge of realization flooded Talbott. The embarrassment hit him like a wave. Almost confessing his feelings without realizing Cereza didn't know about it and fell into Penny’s lies. He took a deep breath, covering his face in his hands, a mix of frustration and embarrassment washing over him.
"H-Hey! It's okay; no need to feel embarrassed!" she comforted him, attempting to ease the awkwardness. "It was that person's loss anyway!"
Talbott's eyes peeked through his fingers as he still hid his face.
"I mean, you act very serious and sometimes a little cold, and when I first met you, I thought you were a little scary," Cereza nervously giggled, recalling the initial apprehension due to fake rumors and his cold nature. "But... as I got to know you, I saw how smart, nice, and talented you can be. You are an amazing person with a good heart and can be funny at times."
Talbott could feel his heart get warm as Cereza's words hit him, did she really think that about him?
"And besides you are handsome in your way as well." Talbott was caught off guard as Cereza, without much thought, complimented him, calling him handsome in his own way. He felt a flutter of butterflies in his stomach, wondering if such compliments were normal between friends.
"She...thinks I'm handsome...?" he mused to himself.
Before he could process the compliment fully, Cereza, with a kind smile, handed him a pink envelope, its seal adorned with a red heart seal. Talbott took notice of it earlier but hadn't given it much thought until now.
Snapping out of his contemplation, he accepted the envelope as Cereza cheered, "Happy Valentine's day!" Her smile was infectious, leaving Talbott in awe. "I handmade this myself and wrote something for you."
"Thank you," he replied, still captivated by her, holding the letter in his hands. "But...I have nothing for you."
"Don't worry about it. I'm used to not getting something for Valentine's day," she awkwardly giggled, earning a puzzled look from Talbott.
“Really? I thought you had a lot of admirers,” he questioned.
“I mean, only if their letters get eaten by the owls,” Cereza joked, her laughter filling the air. “But either way, I don't really care. Unlike some, I don’t crave attention, and I don’t have a crush on anyone, so it's not like I'm waiting for a Valentine's day gift from anyone, really.”
This revelation surprised Talbott, but it also sparked a glimmer of hope. Maybe she didn't have feelings for him yet, but her lack of interest in others left room for possibilities.
“I'm just surprised that you didn't get anything. I mean, look at you,” Talbott blurted out his thoughts without much consideration.
Cereza, curious and a bit surprised, asked, “What do you mean?”
Caught in his own statement, Talbott mumbled, feeling the heat rise in his cheeks. With a deep breath, he decided to lay his thoughts bare.
His words danced uncertainly through the air, a hesitant escaping his lips. "I mean, you're... you know," he stumbled, gaze shyly drifting away. "Beautiful, kind, gentle—like one of the most remarkable person I've ever known, you truly are a someone with a golden heart. You're incredible, courageous and talented and it baffles me that others haven't seen that.”
As he looked back at her, he was taken aback by her reaction. Cereza appeared surprised, eyes sparkling with awe, her mouth forming a small "o," and her cheeks blushing a shade of red.
“Y-You…r-really think that about me?” she stammered, looking at Talbott in disbelief.
“Yes,” he replied, surprised at his own boldness.
Cereza, unsure of how to respond, nervously tapped her foot, scratching the back of her head. “T-Thank you,” she mumbled shyly, adjusting her round glasses and looking down.
Was she shy? Talbott wondered, questioning the effect his words had on her.
—----
Talbott found solace in the owlery, the quiet refuge where his thoughts could echo undisturbed. Holding the delicate envelope, he replayed the events from hours ago, a smile dancing on his lips—a smile that only someone who has been in loce would understand.
"Did my plan work?” The tranquility shattered as Penny's voice punctured his musings. He turned to find her, a mischievous smirk adorning her face.
"Not as you envisioned," Talbott replied, a roll of his eyes punctuating his words. "Your scheme could've jeopardized my friendship with Cereza."
"I just wanted to help," Penny defended, her tone lingering on a hopeful note. "But you don't look sad or angry, so does that mean..."
"What? Can't I be in a good mood?" Talbott retorted, a hint of sass coloring his voice.
"You're never in a good mood. That's why it's odd," Penny teased, her words dripping with playful mockery.
"Whatever you say, it's not ruining my mood," he hummed with subtle defiance.
Penny's gaze fixated on his hand, noticing the open envelope and the letter within. Curiosity ignited her blue eyes. "Oh, someone got a letter! It's from Cereza, isn't it? She said she was working on something for you after I told her your tragic fake story."
Talbott rolled his eyes once more, still not believing that his friend orchestrated narrative behind his back designed to bring him closer to Cereza.
"Can I see it?" Penny's excitement and curiosity bubbled over.
He clutched the letter protectively, an angry pout decorating his face. "No."
"Come on! It's all thanks to me that this happened," Penny pleaded, with a pout on lips which didn't affect Talbott.
"I don't care, Penny. You are not seeing it!" Talbott continued to deny, frustration audible in his groan.
Penny lunged, attempting to snatch the letter, but he resisted, pushing her away.
"Let me see it!"
"NO!"
—----
In the bustling Great Hall, Cereza sat amidst the lively ambiance, sharing a meal with her brother and the Khanna twins. Yet, her thoughts lingered in the echo of a conversation that unfolded hours ago, casting a spell of distraction. A hand cradling her chin, she stared at her untouched plate, lost in contemplation.
“Cereza?” Rowan's voice cut through the haze, a gentle but insistent call.
Her gaze shifted to the Gryffindor opposite her, Michael by her side. Confusion etched on their faces mirrored her own.
“What?” Cereza responded, her confusion evident. Glancing at Rowen, the Hufflepuff beside her, she noticed he had a concerned look.
“We called you a few times, and you didn't answer,” Rowan explained, her voice tempered by worry. “And you haven't touched your food since we got here. Is everything alright? Did something happen?”
“I-I'm fine, really. I'm just...thinking,” Cereza murmured, her fork absentmindedly tracing patterns on her untouched meal.
“Bullshit!” Michael growled. “You’ve been like this since you talked to Winger. What did he say to you?”
Cereza's eyes widened, cheeks ablaze with a sudden revelation. “How did you know I talked to Tal?”
“I was looking for you earlier, and Penny told me she sent you to talk to Talbott because of his little problem,” Michael explained, his protective tone surfacing. “If he said anything bad to you, I swear—”
Cereza's hands slammed onto the table, her figure rising in an assertive stance. “Stop always assuming the worst of him! Talbott didn't do anything wrong; he's an amazing guy!” Her voice resonated through the Great Hall, drawing glances from nearby students, including her surprised brother.
Shyly retaking her seat, embarrassment colored her features. “Sorry…”
Michael wore a perplexed expression, unused to this side of Cereza. Meanwhile, the Khanna twins, Rowan and Rowen, exchanged knowing glances, sensing that whatever has happend between Cereza and Talbott that day awakened something and whaterver it was, it was starting to blossom.

"Let me tell you what I wish I'd known
When I was young and dreamed of glory --
You have no control
Who lives, who dies, who tells your story..."
~"History Has Its Eyes on You" from Hamilton
x~x~x~x
Hey, all! A while back, I asked you all which HPHM character you'd like me to do an art-centric spotlight on, and the winner at the last possible minute ended up being one of my very favorite game-original characters, Talbott Winger! So here, at long last, is the animated tribute I made to our favorite bird boy!
Although the game ultimately decided to have him become a Hitwizard post-Hogwarts, I personally headcanon Talbott becoming an Auror as he'd originally dreamed...specifically, I see him becoming Tonks's partner at the Auror Department, with Tonks acting as the spunky rookie cop in their dynamic while Talbott is the more methodical rookie detective. (To see some other stuff I've done for these two friends that explores their dynamic, click here and here!) I also see Talbott and Tonks becoming very close friends in that time, fighting Dark wizards side by side for the Ministry. Although I don't see Talbott joining the Order of the Phoenix, he -- like my MC, Carewyn -- still provided instrumental assistance to them during the Second Wizarding War, largely by smuggling helpful intelligence to Tonks and contributing to Potterwatch's efforts as a correspondent. Of course we all know that Talbott lost his parents during the First Wizarding War...and sadly, in the Second, he also lost both his mentor Mad-Eye Moody and his partner Tonks. One silver lining, however -- and the reason I just couldn't part with the Auror!Talbott image even after the game ultimately parted ways with it -- is that Talbott ended up becoming a mentor himself, this time to the newest up-and-coming recruit at the Auror Department, Harry Potter, who not only lost both of his parents to the Death Eaters during the First War like Talbott did, but is also the godfather of Teddy Lupin, Tonks's son.
And so yes, Talbott lived and Tonks died, but Harry will ultimately be the one to shoulder both of their legacies and tell their stories. 💙
Have a magical night, everyone! Much love! xoxo

You were miserable.
Your throat wasn't as sore per say, but you felt an uncomfortable sensation when you swallowed your saliva or ate food. And your nose? Well, it was so stuffy you could hardly breathe. You peeked out your tongue to wet your extremely dry and chapped lips since you were forced to breathe through your mouth. You sighed yet again and pushed your sluggish form off the bed, and walked to the door to open it.
The door revealed Talbott in a brown flannel jacket and a pair of jeans. He held a paper bag in his hand. When he met your eyes, his entire face softened. You suddenly felt aware of your disheveled state, messy hair and all, but you were pulled out of your thoughts when a low voice called your name.
"Hm?" you answered quicky, grimacing when you heard your hoarse voice after not using it for quite some time. You cleared your throat and gestured Talbott to come into your dorm room. You sat back on the bed with a soft thump, rubbing your eyes as he closed the door behind him, and took his place on your left.
"How are you feeling, love?" he asked, his right hand reaching behind you to rub slow circles on your warm and clothed back, soothing you.
"Like shit." you joked, as an attempt to lighten up the mood. You leaned onto his shoulder, and he held you tighter.
"Did you have your medicines on time?" he whispered, his plush lips leaving featherlight kisses on your hairline. You nodded, shutting your eyes as you reveled in the feeling of Talbott's hand rubbing up and down on your arm.
Suddenly he completely pulled away, prompting your eyes to snap open. He was reaching into the paper bag. You caught a glimpse of grey but then he placed an object onto your lap.
It was an oval-shaped owl plushie, it was almost like a pillow, and it was really really soft. You gasped and smiled as you turned to look at Talbott- but he was already staring at you, anticipating your reaction.
"Tal! I-" you squeezed the plushie,it was so soft!
Talbott smiled at your antics, his hand moving to brush a stray lock of hair behind your ear.
"Do you like it, birdie?" he bit his lip, he already knew the answer but he needs to hear you say it in words.
"Tal, I love it! It's so adorable," you assured him, arms reaching out to give his torso a squeeze.
"Thank you Talbott." you whispered, head leaning on his shoulder as you hugged him tighter. You wish you could stay like this forever.
"I know you can't smell it now, but | sprayed a little of my cologne onto it so you'll have a part of me when you miss me- I know it's weird l'm sorry this is weird I-" Talbott started rambling, but he stopped when you cupped the both sides of his face with your hands. You smiled at him sweetly, which prompted him to let out a relaxed exhale, and you kissed his cheek.
“I love it Tal, I love you,” you assured him, your eyes boring into his sweet amber ones, as he held your right hand tighter to his face, and kissed it.
“I love you too, little bird”

genre: fluff. just fluff
warnings: none
words: 1.868
aside: hello! I’m your secret santa this year! I really hope you like it. I went through so many different drafts and ideas in order to get your mc just right so I hope I succeeded. happy holidays to you and everyone reading! ❤️
*my submission for the @hphmsecretsanta event this year!!!
Tumblr media
The first time it happened, Talbott had no idea that this would turn into a recurring theme between them.
They’d been assigned to work together in the green house while Professor Sprout stepped out. Having been the two students closest to her when she did, she asked them to harvest her plant for her while she briefly dismissed herself to have a word with Professor McGonagall. This wouldn’t be so bad really if they weren’t trying to do so in front of a live audience.
Thankfully, it seemed easier than they originally assumed and they began their task with relative ease. The students around them elected to chat amongst themselves, filling the greenhouse with idle chatter and distant voices. The afternoon sun spilled in through the window, casting a golden aura about the room.
Talbott almost began to appreciate the serenity of the moment when it was oh so rudely interrupted.
“Have you done this before?” His fellow fourth year asks, hugging her robe a bit closer to her on account of the winter chill in the air. Even with the warming charm it can still be felt in waves.
He nearly doesn’t deign to reply, but does so with an arched eyebrow. “I haven’t.”
This time the other student, Isabella Wallace, turn to look him in the eye, her own sparkling with amusement and mirth. “That so? You’re doing quite well though.”
“Perhaps because it’s in the current chapter of our textbook.” Talbott bites back, perhaps a bit more hostile than was necessary.
Isabella sends him an unimpressed look and he sighs in defeat. “It’s not difficult. You’re also not doing awful.”
A smirk paints her mouth, her brown eyes reflecting the sunshine and looking warm. “My, is that a compliment? From Talbott Winger? The guy with a notorious bad mood?”
Talbott groans and rolls his eyes. “I can always retract it, y’know.”
“Nope, too late,” Isabella shakes her head, her blonde ponytail swaying gently with the movement. “You’ve already given it. The compliment has been received. You can’t take it back.”
She smiles up at him and Talbott scowls and turns away as his chest blooms with warmth. Like a virus.
Isabella grins winningly at his acquiescence.
The animagus debates objecting further or letting the conversation meet its awkward but timely end there when he notices the lack of idle chit chat in the background. He turns his head to examine this change and meets the wide, intrigued glances of everyone else in the room. From his peripheral, he can see Isabella look to do the same.
“What?” She asks lamely, almost childlike.
A kid at the back, a blonde ravenclaw with a mischievous grin, merely points up towards the ceiling.
His eyes first study the space above the ravenclaw’s head, but when he finds nothing he frowns in confusion. That is, until he feels a tug at his robe and he looks over to find Isabella also pointing upwards.
His entire expression slips from his face when he recognizes what he sees.
Isabella blushes but makes an attempt to laugh off the awkwardness. The rest of the class, however, aren’t quite so ready to dismiss what could possibly be enough drama to last their year for the next month and a half. And just when he thought the attentive looks weren’t bad enough, they began to chant.
“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”
Not entirely unexpected for a band of teenagers, though the whole thing still felt terribly juvenile to him. Talbott even began to blush from embarrassment.
Suddenly, Isabella turns to him and Talbott arches a brow at her. “Do you mind?”
He blinks. “Pardon?”
She goes to reply, but is cut off by the cheers growing even louder. With a shrug and a sigh, she steadies herself by grabbing his forearm and pushing up onto her toes to plant a kiss on Talbott’s cheek. Her lips are a bit chapped from the weather but still somehow softer than he expected them to be as they brush his skin.
Right as she pulls back, leaving Talbott stunned, wide-eyed, and dumbfounded, the door to the greenhouse opens.
“What in Merlin’s beard is going on here? I leave for two minutes and the next thing you know I hear—” Her eyes spot Isabella and Talbott at the front and Isabella hastily drops his arm. Her eyes automatically shoot up to the roof.
Understanding dawns on her.
“Well, I suppose that’s what I get for forgetting I let the students hang up mistletoe in here.”
Their professor shakes her head and shoos them both back to their seats. She resumes her place and carries on with the lecture but this time, Talbott can’t help but allow his eyes to drift up and over the table.
Across from him Isabella is already staring back. When he catches her eye, she doesn’t blush or look away. She merely offers him a warm smile.
It suddenly feels warmer in the greenhouse.
II.
The second time they were caught in such unfortunate circumstances, Talbott had the bright idea to follow her down into Knockturn Alley.
Suffice to say, it wasn’t exactly a fun excursion.
So far removed from the safe boundaries and protective wards of Hogwarts grounds, every step felt precious. The snow crunched beneath his boots but he felt more like he was walking on ice. Whenever he looked up, another dark witch or wizard had their eyes peeled to them. The entire alley felt foreboding and threatening.
Isabella casts him a look over her shoulder as she trudges forth. “I told you that you didn’t have come. I would’ve been fine by myself.”
“Maybe,” Talbott concedes, but his tone still holds a stubborn edge. “Maybe not. But you’re undefeated, Isabella, not immortal.”
She releases a long sigh and stays quiet for a moment. “I wish you would’ve stayed at the castle.”
“I’m aware.”
“You could get hurt here.”
“So could you.”
Isabella rubs nervously at her arms. A frown clear on her face to broadcast her blatant disagreement.
Now sixteen, Talbott had grievously grown to care for the wild Gryffindor. While certainly troublesome and stubborn—and at times immensely frustrating—she was, he had reluctantly admitted to himself years ago that her kindness and selflessness was endearing. Endearing enough, it seems, to warrant a tentative crush on the cursebreaker. Not that he’s yet said as much.
Finally, after what feels like much longer than it likely was, they reach the spot they’re supposed to be at when they meet up with Jae.
Isabella pulls Talbott into a small alcove, but hesitates on the shove.
He follows her eyes to a small gathering of witches and wizards, speaking in frantic, hushed tones. Her fist clenches as she stares at them and she makes to step away from their hiding spot but Talbott reaches out to grab her elbow, stopping her.
“Don’t. We aren’t here for them. They’ll get their karma in due time.”
The brunette looks back once before relenting and settles back against the cold stone wall.
Their little alcove is beyond cramped. Just enough room for them to both lean against the walls at their backs without touching, but certainly not enough for someone to shove down the path between them. He’s much taller now than he’d been before, and he can’t stop himself from looking down and admiring her.
Nose and cheeks dusted a bright red from the snowy weather, hands shoved into her overcoat where she hides her wand. Dark blonde hair falling haphazardly around her shoulder, collecting snowflakes. Her lips chapped and close to cracking.
“Staring is impolite.” Talbott reads from her lips as they curl into a playful, albeit tired, smirk. “It’ll give a girl ideas.”
Talbott starts and clears his throat, casting his eyes away. “Right. I guess I spaced out.”
She doesn’t seem satisfied with this response but lets it pass. She shuffles and it inadvertently brings them closer. He thinks the moment might slip away but then she chuckles, drawing his attention back.
“This must be some sort of joke.”
“Excuse me?”
This time, it’s more of a snicker as she removes a gloved hand to gestures up above them. Talbott doesn’t even need to look to know what it is.
“Mistletoe,” Isabella supplies. “Again.”
Talbott tsks, looking away. He’s momentarily extremely thankful the cold hides his blush. “How ridiculous.”
“I think they’re fun,” Isabella grins and Talbott’s gaze snaps back to her. “Don’t you?”
He freezes, feeling as though he’s melting into the wall behind him. “I, uh—”
Isabella takes a step closer, her gloved hands gently pulling his from his own pockets and holding them. “Indulge me?”
He can’t even say yes before they’re both leaning in.
“Guys!”
They both jump apart, knocking into the brick walls at their backs. Isabella runs at her head, having bumped it on the stone.
Jae gives them a toothy, devious grin, crossing his arms as she approaches them from the main alley.
“Am I interrupting something?”
Talbott grumbles and rolls his eyes before pushing past them both. “Let’s go. We don’t have all day.”
III.
“Talbott? Have you seen my boots?” Isabella calls from their bedroom, her voice barely rising over the intense whistling of the wind outside.
“You left them with the laundry, love.” He calls back patiently.
“The black ones with the—”
“With the laces, yes.” He assures her, followed by the pattering of her footsteps, softened by her fuzzy socks.
She returns a moment later with a triumphant smile as she walks easily, directly into his waiting embrace. He deposits a kiss to her temple.
“I knew I left them there.” She teases.
“I’m sure.” He allows. “You ready to go now, then?”
Isabella nods, but steals his hands away in hers when he reaches for their gift bag. He involuntarily shivers as she pulls him closer to the fireplace by the lapels of his coat, the warmth of it enveloping him with a sharp contrast from the snowy expanse outside.
Their little house in the woods might be modest now, but they do have their plans to expand. Someday. Should the right time and opportunity arrive.
Branches tap at their windows but they pay it no mind. “Before we leave, can I show you something?”
Talbott considers the request. “Will I regret it?”
Isabella, who’d usually balk at such teasing, merely hums and shakes her head with a coquettish grin. “I don’t think so.”
His thumb brushes over the ring on her finger and he knows he’s already given in. “Then I suppose we could spare the time, since you’re so sure.”
Isabella smiles, victorious, and pulls him down into a thoughtful kiss. The fire strokes the warmth in his chest and his hands find purchase at her waist. He kisses her back eagerly, her lips by now familiar.
“How was that?”
Talbott smirks at the huskiness of her voice. “Lovely, dear, though I fail to see what it is you wanted to show me.”
“Look up.”
The words alone pull a chuckle from his throat but he does anyway.
Mistletoe.
Of course.
“Third time’s the charm, right?”
Talbott nods and leans in again. “Right. And everyone knows the best things come in threes…”

REQUESTS AND INFOS - HOGWARTS MYSTERY.
Requests are officially opened! Feel free to submit yours by either commenting below this post, or sending a message. I am a university student, which basically means that I struggle to post regularly, yet I do my best to post at least once a week. Still, there are some rules & infos I would love to share with you!
RULES.
Do not pressure me. Once I have received and accepted your request, I will surely work out something to update it as soon as possible;
Do not come at me if I post other stuff before updating your request. I might have been working on a project before you had submitted your request, or I am still mulling over what to write in it;
Comments and opinions are welcomed. I do love reading about your points of views and I truly like replying too. However, please, take note that English is not my mother language and that I might make some mistakes here and there. I will do my best to check out my work before posting. Still, I usually post late at night, or early in the morning (my sleepy head plays tricks on me, have mercy!);
I basically write about any possible theme, with the only exception of: suicide, severe self-harm and pedophilia.
Age gaps are perfectly fine, as long as both of them are 18+, or something like 16-17 and 18-19.
While sending your request, please, make sure to specify if you want a drabble or a one-shot. A drabble is a short sequence of scenes, while a one-shot embraces a large period of time and is usually over 1000 words.

Fleeting Touches
I’m happy to annouce that this is a request from C / Jasmine UwU on Archieve of our own for my story Detention.
omfg. I need a part 2 for their free time. Please, take your time I really love this ToT
So here it is! This story is a sequel to Detention. It’s a
very
detailed
smut
ノ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ノ
but I still tried to make it soft since it's their first time. So if reading about s*x is something you don't like (or reading about hard s*x is for you), than this story isn’t for you😂 feel free to skip this story. I’m sure we’ll see each other at a different time with a different story. ^^
You have been warned!
As always, the picture used below is my doing.

And just so you know - this is my first smut so I felt incredibly shy and weird while writing this.
Tumblr media
After you came out of the unsuccessful - or, on the contrary, very fruitful - detention, silence reigned between you and Talbott. You were too embarrassed to look at your boyfriend with whom you have been for three years and you could tell he was as well.
While you have become more explicit with each other during this year you have never come so close to... Well... This was the first time you experienced anything like passionate foreplay. You could still feel the wetness in your panties and your heart was pounding with thrill.
You already knew Talbott too well to know that if you didn't talk about it now, you probably wouldn't get to it again. And if so, it would be even more complicated.
“Um, Talbott? Do you have a minute to talk about all of this? About what just happened?” Your voice was steady and you were very glad for it. You didn't want to transfer any of your nervousness to Talbott for fear that he would shut down on you.
He stopped dead in his track but slowly inclined his head in a yes. “Although, could we go to some more private place? Please.” You heard the muffled raspiness in his tone that appeared every time he doubted your relationship.
"Of course." You agreed for now and swallowed your next words. There will be time for those later. "Where would you like to go?"
“My room, perhaps? The Ravenclaw tower is for most parts vacant during this hour.” You saw no reason to disagree, so you set off on your journey in silence. Talbott led the way even though you knew exactly where to go, nevertheless, you followed him wordlessly.
Talbott was the first to speak in a long time when he realized you wouldn't be alone in his room: “Hey Andre. Could you give us a minute to talk?” The style wizard looked up from his fashion magazine and looked from Talbott's flushed face to yours. A smug, knowing grin appeared on his face while he stood up and placed one of his hands on Talbott’s and yours shoulder.
“Clearly. I was just thinking it was time for a little quidditch training. I estimate I'll be back in about an hour and a half.” You knew it was a lie - he never went for practice this late. He gives you a wink as he walks through the door and gives Talbott a thumbs up with a quiet "Good luck!"
“Thanks, mate.” Your boyfriend answers and once Andre is gone, he leads you to his bed where you both sit down. Suddenly, the heavy atmosphere lingering overhead was filled with awkwardness. “Uh, so...” You begin, but immediately close your mouth again because you are not sure how to continue.
“So..?” The young man next to you imitates you and you understand that he is waiting for your reaction. “Umm,” you start again but this time you take a quick breath to keep going. “That was really embarrassing huh?“ You internally facepalm yourself. Way to start a conversation about possibly making love...
Talbott's almost furrowed brows in confusion at the sudden turn of the conversation reinforces the idea that this was not a good start.
“That's not what I originally wanted to say,” you admitted, wrapping one of your arms around your torso to try calm yourself down. He can see how uneasy you are and in attempt to calm you down a little, he gently pets your head just like he did many times before. Every time he does it, you are reminded of how much he actually cares for you and a happy smile appears on your face. You adore it when he is affectionate like this, you feel loved and safe. Even before you realise it, you are leaning into his touch and you miss how his troubled look evaporated into pleased.
“I liked it you know,” you confess in a whisper and squeeze his warm hand in yours. You can feel him stiffen in shock. “You did?” He asks in disbelief, and it freezes you how much he doubts himself.
“More than you know. I... I wanted to try something like this with you for a long time, but I wasn't sure if you wanted it too...“
“Uh,” he says, because he knows that you’ve said something but his mind is all scrambled, as his wild imagination began to surface all his dreams of you in perverted positions, and he can’t figure out what it was. “Um, what?”
“I said,” you repeat slowly, “I want to do it. With you.” His mind goes on overload as your words sink in. Did you really just said that or is his mind playing tricks on him? He can't even count how many times he's thought about this and woken up with a hard problem in his underpants.
“Why didn't you say anything before?” Is his only thought that stops him from realizing all his wild desires.
“I thought you didn't want to do something like that with me, because I thought I’m not appealing enough to you.” He watched as you seemingly defleated into yourself refusing to look at him. Did he really made you doubt yourself so much through his actions? Talbott never thought of himself as brave, but... He wants to be brave and show you how much you’re messing with not only his head.
“You can't even imagine how badly you are driving me crazy. How much I want to touch you and feel you. Do you know how much I think about doing it with you and how hard is it for me to hold back? Andre has been teasing me for not taking action for months.” It takes you a while to comprehend his words and once you do, not only that your heart leaps in happinness, but you finally realize what was hidden behind Andre's gesture. You shift in your position so you could be directly opposite Talbott.
He hears you exhale softly and then you reach for him, your fingers settling loosely around his neck, your fingers playing with the ends of his hair. “Do you mean it?”
“Yes.” He answers and to show you how sure he is, he pulls you by the back of your head into a passionate kiss. He kisses you hungrily, roughly and for a single moment you are stunned into stillness - but then you are melting into him, your fingers tangling in his hair.
You gently pressed into the center of his chest with your palm and then pushed until he understood and leaned back until his back hit the soft mattress beneath him. You can feel his raged heartbeat in your fingerstips. You bit your bottom lip, looking down at him for a moment as he gazed up at you with foggy eyes, happy in disbelief that this is actually happening.
“A bit too excited, aren't you?” With a playful edge in your voice, you straddle across his hips and sat at his bulge. He was absolutely frozen beneath you for a moment before his arms looped around you.
“I’ve been waiting a long time for this. Don't pretend you haven't.” You raise your eyebrows, looking delighted at the provocation. You lean towards him and start to caress his neck with your teeth. In an attempt to make more space for you, he wiggles, accidentally brushing his member against yours clothed knob.
As he feels your breath on his neck, you make a soft little sound and his whole body shivers in response.
His body seems to have been steadily breaking down since the moment you told him you wanted him just like he wants you. He wraps his hands around your bottom and presses you against his pelvis and with a gentle push he indicates you to start moving the same way as last time.
You chuckle against his parted lips. “I think I love this kinky side of you as much as your shy side.” You’re speaking again, but he can hardly hear it over the ringing in his ears. All he can focus on is your clothed pussy rocking against his hard dick.
You look up at him through your lashes and you shifted even closer, your mouth hovering over his lips. He can feel your breath on his skin and your eyes are hard and full of fire. His own desire is reflected in your gaze and he wants to ride on the feeling that he is to blame for this state of yours. He wants you to look at him the way you do now for the rest of your lives: like he's all you ever need. He is done with all the teasing and light touches. Tonight, you'll be his.
You kiss him again and he deepened your connection immediately, kissing you like he was starving for your touch, for the feeling of you against him. He shivered when you giggle, capturing his bottom lip in your teeth and squeezing teasingly.
He flips you over, hovering above you like a predator, his eyes roaming all over your body. A quiet sigh escapes you when you see him like this.
He is sexy as hell.
All you want right now is to feel him inside you, his cock filling you like nothing else matter. Your panties got embarrassingly wet at the thought of his body clinging to yours in accelerating pace of his penis hitting your core.
“I’m done with the teasing, princess.” His words sounded like a growl and you tensed up under him in anticipation. Talbott’s hands drop to your shirt and deftly unbuttons all the buttons. His touch is feather like and you crave more. “You don't have to be so careful.” You tell him and in reassurance you began to undress him yourself. You had no idea where such lust came from in you.
You slide your hand down, feeling his toned abs and start undoing his belt. Talbott breaks your kiss just to latch his teeth onto your neck and you moan when he finds your sweet spot. He smirks to himself and he started paying even more attention to your neck as his hands greedily explored your exposed body.
You finally get his belt off, unzipping his pants and tugging down his boxers. His cock springs out, hard and wet at his tip and your brain stops working. He is way larger than you imagined and you couldn't process how he could push all his length inside you.
“What's wrong?” You hear Talbott mutter and only now you realize that you had to stare at him for a long time without a single movement. “Nothing but... You're huge.” You confess and wrap your hand around his root - your fingers touch each other only at the tips of your fingertips.
Talbott laughs lightly. When he felt you stiffen under him, he was afraid that he had messed something up, or that you didn't like what you saw. He was glad that it was the exact opposite. “Do you want to touch him?”
“Yes.”
Without hesitation, you make him change position and you sit between his spread legs. You wrap your palm around his tip and pull the foreskin down. Talbott lets out a long moan and encouraged by his reaction, you repeat your previous move again. “Like this?” You ask him and do it again and again.
“You can - you can hold him tighter. And go faster.” He answers through ragged breaths and you immediately do what he asked you to. His response is immediate and loud.
You collected saliva in your mouth, bringing your head to his pulsing erection. You quickly look up at him to see if he is on board and when you see the unspoken plea in his gaze, you take as much of him as you can into your mouth.
You feel one of his hands slide into your hair - he doesn’t pull nor set the pace. You bob your head back and forth and you can feel your gag reflex when his tip come across your throat. You don't like it and you feel like you are suffocating, but the sight of Talbott is worth it - his head is tiped back against the pillow, his pupils glazed over with pleasure as his chest rose and fell intermittently while one moan after another slipped from his parted lips.
“W-wait...” He breathes out, his hand stopping you midway. “Why? You don’t like it?” You ask, confusion circling in your brain in loops. You thought he was enjoying himself...
“No! That’s not it. It feels so good I think I’m loosing myself... I feel like I'll cum any second.” And it was true. He felt like a million fireworks were set off in one place and he’s teetering at the edge of a very long fall.
“Then let me continue-”
“No. I want us to climax together for the first time...” Talbott admits in a low whisper, his shy self coming back. Suddenly he is heavily blushing and avoiding your eyes. You can't help but smile at him, knowing you would do anything to make him pleased.
And just as you want to please him, he wants to help you feel that delicious ecstasy. You fight the urge to cover yourself when he eyes your dripping pussy, and he settles his palms on your thights, spreading them even more.
“You look absolutely gorgeous honey... Even better than I imagined.” Talbott murmurs, dragging his nails against the inside of your legs and you shiver. Your name falls from his lips lovingly, his gaze dragging up your form and your heaving chest to lock eyes with you.
“I love you.”
That one phrase was uttered for the first time and your heart happily danced in your chest as you pulled his lips to yours. “I love you too, Talbott.”
As you were sharing a slow kiss which perfectly portrayed your love for each other, Talbott's hand slowly run his index finger along your slit until he found your swollen nub. Pressing on it, he traced circles, causing you to gasp out his name. He loved seeing you like this - after all the wet dreams of you he finally could have you, could fulfill all his desires about how many different ways to make love to you. To make you feel so good, that you would be whining for more.
You flinch when his tongue glides over your clit, while he inserts one of his fingers inside you. It feels so good you couldn't keep still, rocking your hips against his head while moaning loudly. Your body trembles in pleasure when he adds second finger, curling them both up to hit your sensitive spot making you gasps in sweet relief.
“You are so beautiful my love,” he scissors his fingers inside you the best he can, taking notes of your every reaction so that he could make you feel even better the next time you'll allow him to touch you.
He is fingering you while adding another finger when his tongue finds the motion that gets you of to a different universe. It's at that time, when you feel a building pressure around the place of your urethra, you stop him.
He slowly pulled his fingers out of you, a pride filling his chest when he saw your disheveled state.
“You can go in...” You manage to get out of you through your rapid breaths. You feel like you just finished a marathon.
“Are you sure?” He asks you to make sure you are really okay with proceeding further, and when you nod tiredly, he licks all your liquid off his fingers and reaches for his wand, noticing how good you taste. With a quick spell he summons a condom and you watch him fight with the thin protection while he tries to put it on. You can't help yourself but think how cute he is when he is clumsy.
He positions himself between you and this time, you open your legs for him. He guides the tip of his cock to your opening and pushes gently. It wasn't terrible at first, but with each extra millimeter it started to hurt more and more. Talbott always gave you as much time as you needed and only when you nodded did he push in a little deeper. Fortunately, after a few gentle and slow thrusts you started to get used to his size and the pain soon gave way to pleasure.
You could feel him twitching inside you in time to your moans and that made you more turned on then you imagined you could possibly be. Yours heavy moans mixed with the squishy sounds of his balls hitting your asscheek, filled the air with perverted atmosphere. You clench, needy for more friction and when he groans in appreciation you feel more horny than before. Hearing his pleasurable moans gets you high much faster than just hearing your own.
You wiggle, whereby you adjust your position slightly, but that is still enough for Talbott to start hitting different spot, going much deeper and repeatedly aiming to that one place.
You arch your back in a rush of new pleasure and as Talbott quickens his pace you feel yourself falling over the edge of the cliff. As your sweet, sweet juice burst on him he felt enormously happy, your walls clenching around him helped him to ride together with you on a wave of delightful height.
There’s nothing holding him together anymore. The edges of him have blurred into you and yours into his. His whole world, his whole existence consists of your scent and your body against his and your words which are telling him that you love him.

le your story of Talbot xMc; I like how your story turned out and you think you can make a TalbottxMc story I'm sure you have incredible ideas; I would like you to make a story of something surprise example;
“when Talbott is on a mission (auror) together with Tonks without knowing that he will have a surprise, a paper where it fell into his coat Tonks reads it and says that his wife (mc) is pregnant, (Mc did not know how to say it in front of him so he decided to write a surprise letter) and so Talbott will take the big surprise”
Something like that is the only thing that came to my mind. 😅
Aw thank you so much!! What a cute idea! Tally is the softest husbando ❤❤❤
Tumblr media
Talbott shuffles through the parchment, eyes pouring through the mission brief. Nothing extremely troublesome today– another investigation in Knockturn Alley, suspicious activity in Borgin and Burkes, undercover work to try and obtain more information. If the mission is for undercover work, he’ll most likely need to use animagus form, and his partner will need to be a master of disguise, which means today he’ll be paired with–
“Wotcher, Talbott! Looks like we’re working together today!”
Talbott turns around and smiles at his friend from Hogwarts.
“Good to see you, Tonks,” he smiles.
Tonks hovers over his shoulder and scans the mission details. “Borgin and Burkes today, eh?”
Talbott nods and folds up the papers. He stuffs the mission brief into his coat pocket. “We’d better visit Andre in Wardrobe before going.”
“Can’t wait to see what disguise he’ll recommend for me this time,” Tonks snorts. Together they make their way through the Ministry hallways to Andre’s office. “Did you hear about the time he told me I should shift into [Y/N] for a mission?”
Talbott laughs. “No! What happened?”
Tonks rolls her eyes. “He told me I needed to hone my inner ‘curse-breaker,’” she chortles. “How is that wife of yours, by the way?”
Even after all the years of being together, the thought that he was able to call someone so incredible, so smart and capable and marvelous, his wife made him blush. He already can't wait to get home to you. Especially since--
“She actually hasn't been doing well,” he sighs. “She’s been sick the past week. Very nauseous, and vomiting.”
Tonks quirks her eyebrow. “Hm,” she hums. “I’m sorry to hear that. Give her my best.”
Talbott smiles, butterflies in his stomach as he imagines coming home to your radiant smile.
Together they reach Andre’s office, where the style wizard himself is already expecting them.
“My two favorite aurors!” He greets, holding up a set of hangars with Knockturn-Alley-appropriate black cloaks on both.
Andre hands one set of clothes to Talbott. “I know you’ll probably use your animagus form this mission, but I coordinated an outfit for you, just in case.”
“Thank you, Andre,” he says, shuffling off his coat. He trades it with the clothes on the hangar. “I’ll go try this on.”
Talbott enters the adjacent fitting room, and Andre begins neatly setting Talbott’s coat on another rack.
“Andre, somehow you're always more prepared for these missions than I am!” Tonks exclaims.
Andre laughs. “You can never be too prepared when it comes to style.”
“I really should read the brief, though,” Tonks sighs, and begins patting down Talbott’s coat. “I only really skimmed it. I think it’s in his pocket… ah! Here.”
Andre begins pulling out a scrapbook of various photographs “So, Tonks. I was thinking that, for this mission, you should try for a generic-looking face. You know, something to fit in without standing out–”
“Blimey!”
Andre looks up, confused. “What, you think that’s a bad idea?”
Tonks blinks up at him the parchment she’s reading. “What? No! I mean–” she shakes her head. She’s beaming. “Get over here and read this!”
Andre squints, but does as he’s told. And then he gasps and covers his mouth.
“I think this is perfect, Andre, as usual.” Talbott emerges from the fitting room. “How did you… Wait. What’s going on?”
Tonks and Andre stare at him, their giddy expressions making Talbott stop in his tracks.
“Talbott, you dope!” Tonks exclaims. “How did you not notice this?”
She holds up a paper. Talbott tilts his head. “Notice what?”
Andre slaps his palm to his forehead.
“You’re hopeless,” he sighs. “I’ll start knitting baby clothes.”
Talbott furrows his brow. “Baby clothes…?”
Tonks clears her throat. In her best [Y/N] impression, she reads from the paper in front of her:
Dear Tally,
I couldn’t think of a better way to tell you, so I hope you’ll forgive me for finding out this way.
Do you remember when we talked about starting a family? About how, if we have a baby girl, I’d love to name her Suna, after your mother? Or Rowan, for a boy?
Well… soon enough, we’ll know which one to choose.
Talbott’s eyes widen with understanding.
Tonks continues, beaming.
I confirmed it with Chiara yesterday while you were working. She says I’m about a month in. Soon we’ll–
“Tonks,” Talbott interrupts, his heart racing. “Can you please submit an absence request on my behalf?”
“We got you, man!” Andre claps Talbott on the back. "Get going! Go!"
Not a second later, Talbott apparates home.
He practically bursts through the front door.
You look up from the stove, startled. You’re baking, and the sweet smell of pastries wafts through your quaint little house.
“Tally!” You smile as he rushes in. “You’re home earl–”
He interrupts you with a kiss, wrapping you tightly in his arms.
“Starlight,” he says. His eyes are twinkling. “You could have told me in person.”
Your heart races, but you can’t help the grin plastered on your face. “I didn’t want to distract you from work, so I figured–”
He kisses you again. “Nothing is more important than you,” he breathes into your lips.
Then, he beams.
“We’re having a baby.”
You nod and giggle, and he scoops you up and twirls you around the room. The sunlight streams through the house, illuminating the dust that spins around around you and your husband’s embrace.
You collapse together on the sofa in a heap of giggles.
“I love you so much,” you say, catching your breath from laughter, cupping your hands on his face.
His whole face is soft, and his eyes are glossy. His expression is starstruck, sinking you in-- the most important thing in the world to him.
His family.
He kisses you again, and you feel his mother’s swan feather from his necklace brush against your neck.
“I love you forever,” he whispers, and gently places a hand on your stomach. “My beautiful wife, and my precious child.”

"But the tigers come at night With their voices soft as thunder, As they tear your hopes apart -- As they turn your dream to shame...!
You can take -- (And still I dream he'll come to me,) You can give... (That we will live the years together,) Let him be! (But there are dreams that cannot be,) Let him live! (And there are storms we cannot weather!)
If I die, let me die! Let him live..."

Talbott's Death's-Head-Hawkmoth bolo tie // original inspiration for Carewyn's dress
x~x~x~x
Hi all! Recently Hogwarts Mystery put out a rather underwhelming sidequest about Voldemort possibly returning to the Wizarding World, and I decided it'd be a great time to make some Second Wizarding War content for my girl Carewyn...specifically about the good friend she grew even closer to in that time, Talbott Winger!
Even at school, Talbott and Carewyn did discover they were truly "birds of a feather," upon becoming friends in their fourth year. They're both the type to put walls up around their hearts to hide their more fragile emotions, as well as to prefer the company of a few close friends to large crowds, and they both harbor a strong desire to improve the world around them despite the personal traumas of their respective childhoods. Post-Hogwarts both Talbott and Carewyn even pursue careers in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement as an Auror and lawyer, respectively, and it's with Talbott, his Auror partner Tonks, his Auror mentor Mad-Eye Moody, Hitwizard Ben, her own legal mentor Amelia Bones, and fellow lawyer Chester Davies that Carewyn ends up working with most closely, at the start of her career.
When the Second Wizarding War happened, though...well, that list of Ministry associates Talbott and Carewyn had accrued shrank very, very fast. Amelia Bones and her entire family was assassinated not long after Voldemort's return was fully revealed in the spring of 1995. Mad-Eye was killed in the summer of 1997 while trying to get Harry Potter to safety before his 17th birthday. Tonks had to immediately go into hiding after Bill Weasley's wedding due to her connection with the Order, and Ben had to go into hiding not long later from the newly formed Muggle-Born Registration Commission. Even Chester Davies ended up taking an assignment in Romania during a large stretch of the War, so as to support and protect his old associate and fellow Prefect Felix Rosier, who was a persistent mark for Death Eaters trying to force him to join their ranks. Several of Carewyn and Talbott's other friends outside the Ministry, like Chiara Lobosca, Barnaby Lee, and Bill Weasley, had also been forced underground to evade the Death Eaters. This left Talbott and Carewyn largely alone to deal with the blatant rot and evil that had corrupted their Department -- the place where they'd both so desperately wanted to make a difference, and yet now was forcing them to march lock-step with their disgusting whims.
Fortunately one other thing Talbott and Carewyn shared was their determination to not just cowardly shrink in the face of evil. And so covertly, both of them found a way to support the fight against Voldemort. Neither of them ever joined the Order of the Phoenix like Tonks did -- Carewyn had way too much negative feelings toward Dumbledore to ever accept him as her "commander," and Talbott preferred to follow his father's example and not explicitly join any formal organization -- but they were still valuable in their own way in opposing the Death Eaters. Carewyn smuggled intelligence out of the Ministry to anti-Voldemort causes and even took charge of the Ministry and put Umbridge under citizen's arrest during the Battle of Hogwarts. Talbott was a pivotal correspondent at Potterwatch (using the name "Raptor"), reporting on the glossed-over casualties of the War, but also frequently writing and reading aloud inspirational pieces to promote hope in Voldemort's disheartened victims. And they also worked together sometimes to smuggle prisoners out of the Ministry to safehouses, such as Carewyn's future "ward" Erik Apollo and eventual legal partner Orion Amari and his daughter Eos.
Although in retrospect, their fight was not in vain, and their eventual triumph could be seen as worth all of the turmoil and pain they suffered through, however, this doesn't mean that in the midst of it, Carewyn and Talbott didn't experience their fair share of despair, hopeless, and grief. One of these such moments was on Boxing Day, 1997, when Carewyn visited Talbott at his home in Godric's Hollow. He had called into work that day without any warning -- a very unusual occurrence -- and it prompted Carewyn right away to check on him. She arrived very late at night, when just about everyone else in Godric's Hollow was asleep -- and when Carewyn entered Talbott's Secret-guarded cottage, she found her friend collapsed in his armchair, his tear-stained face more worn and exhausted than Carewyn had just about ever seen it. Talbott had immediately bolted up at someone entering, wand raised, and had not relaxed even an molecule of an inch until they exchanged questions and answers that would verify each other's identity.
"What name did I call you, in the poem I wrote after we first met?" "'Looking-Glass Eyes.' What did you bring me on my first night in the Hospital Wing, after Rowan's death?" "A handwritten copy of the poem 'Immortality' by Claire Harner."
It was only then that Talbott slowly lowered his wand and, seeming a bit weak on his feet, swayed back to his armchair. Carewyn immediately rushed over to support her friend as he collapsed back down into it, wiping the moist mix of sweat and tears from his face.
"...Bathilda Bagshot is dead," he said at last.
Carewyn looked up, horrified.
"She'd kind of retreated into her house, these last few months," Talbott explained lowly. "An understandable thing, under the circumstances. But on Christmas, her house just blew up out of nowhere, and the Aurors were sent to investigate, and...well, even if Yaxley's crew tried to cover it all up, I saw her body, before they took it..."
Talbott's head fell as he closed his eyes, almost as if wanting to shut out the image.
"She'd been torn to pieces, Carewyn," he whispered. "Like some disgusting parasite had buried itself inside of her and then just ripped her apart..."
Carewyn slowly eased herself down onto the footstool beside his armchair, her blue eyes rippling with sorrow.
"Talbott, I'm so sorry...I know she was kind to you, when you first moved in here. Mum's always spoken so well of her -- everything I've ever heard of Bathilda Bagshot was how sweet and helpful she was..."
"She was a good woman," Talbott agreed.
He exhaled heavily through his nose as he slowly opened his eagle-like eyes.
"That's not all, though. After the fact, it came out that the reason the Aurors were called out so quickly was that 'Undesirable Number 1' may have been spotted in the vicinity of Bagshot's house."
Carewyn gave a start. "Potter?"
Talbott nodded.
"When I followed up with the rest of Potterwatch, they didn't have any real idea what he might've been doing there or what happened to Bagshot, while he was in her house...but Lupin thinks it's very likely he came to Godric's Hollow because it's where his parents died. If so...then it's possible that Bagshot found him and brought him back to her house, before whatever happened."
Carewyn's eyes softened with sadness. She knew full well Godric's Hollow hosted the old ruins of the Potter home -- she'd passed the old memorial a few times when she'd come to visit Talbott in the past. Talbott even walked over there with Carewyn, Tonks, and Chiara one Halloween not long after he first moved in, so they could all pay their respects.
"I know it's silly for me to wish I was there, but..." Talbott brought his head into his hand, his eyes falling down to the ground. "...He must've come to see his parents. They're buried in a plot only about ten feet away from where my parents are -- a plot I've visited on every holiday, bar this year..."
Talbott closed his eyes and hung his head.
"If I'd just visited this year, maybe I would've been there, when Potter was. He could've hidden out at my place instead -- I could've been more able to fight whatever attacked him and Bagshot -- "
"Talbott, don't blame yourself!" Carewyn said fiercely.
Her hand clutched at his arm, even as her eyes likewise fell down to the carpet, rather than remaining on him.
"...We don't know what it is that attacked Potter and Bagshot. For all we know, it could've been some elaborate trap set up by You-Know-Who, in case Potter ever showed up. After all, you moved here because your parents are buried here...it would make perfect sense if Potter wanted to visit this place as well..."
"Of course it does!" said Talbott, his voice strained. "That's all the more reason to wish I was there. I understand why he'd want to be here...I understand it probably more than anyone else..."
Carewyn's hand ran gently along Talbott's forearm, trying to comfort him. Talbott looked down at his own feet as he once again exhaled.
"Fred and George talk about him all the time. Lupin and Shacklebolt, as well. He's a lot like you, from what I gather -- modest and brave...with the ridiculous tendency to play the hero in every situation," the slightest of wry smiles flickered at the corners of his lips before quickly fading. "...Most of all...I gather he's never forgotten his parents. Lupin said once that the only real memories Potter has of his parents is of the night they died -- of them selflessly trying to save him, even as Vol -- the Dark Lord closed in..."
Talbott's lips twitched unhappily -- he hated the Taboo that forced him not to use Voldemort's real name.
"...I know I've never met the kid, but...I know what that's like. The not being able to forget. The knowledge that your parents gave everything, just so you could live. The shadow it casts over you...and how much it makes you fear losing anyone else...all those people who've become your family, in the place of the one you lost..."
His reddish eyes seemed to burn. Carewyn could feel waves of empathetic pain pooling off of her friend, even without him looking her right in the eye.
"I know it's silly, but...even if I don't really know Potter, and it's not like he'd have any reason to trust me in that circumstance when he doesn't know me from Adam...I wish I'd been there, for him. Because...I've been him, more than once."
The sorrow in Carewyn's eyes deepened. She bowed her head, and her forehead ended up lightly grazing the top of Talbott's head as she closed her eyes.
"You feeling that way is not silly," Carewyn said very softly. "It's noble. It's kind. And I know...if Potter is as much like you as he sounds to me...then he would appreciate knowing he wasn't alone."
Her low volume couldn't mask the strong emotions that choked her voice. Even though Talbott lacked Carewyn's flair for Legilimency, Talbott knew at his heart that -- like him -- Carewyn was likewise full of empathy for Potter's pain...because she, like both of them, also understood how much grief could isolate you...how much time could never take away the phantom pains of that loss.
Do not stand by my grave, and weep -- I am not there, I do not sleep...
The memory of the poem he'd given Carewyn after Rowan's death ran over Talbott's mind again as he looked up at his old friend. He took in the paleness of her face and the pain in her shut eyes, and he found himself bringing his own hand down to hold her arm, the way she was his. Talbott didn't speak, instead just keeping their posture as it was, with both of them leaning on each other and holding each other's arms.
Sometimes true solidarity -- true friendship -- requires no words.
