There's just something about Gamecube/PS2 era games that have such a strange sense of detail sometimes, as if, having just figured out how to render nice 3D environments, they're not quite sure what to put in them.
Take, for instance, this glass food cloche on a table in a random-ass inn in Tales of the abyss, that, for some unclear reason, I can open and close.
For one, game, I would never have even considered that there might be something inside this inoffensive bit of set dressing had you not offered me the opportunity to open it (it animates and everything); and for another, it very clearly has cookies in it that you are now prohibiting me from taking.
It just makes me wonder: who did this? Whose job was it to program the little food cloche that opens in the inn? Did that person think it would serve a function? Was it just for fun?
I want to know the tale of the glass cloche programmer.

collection of Tales guidebooks!
a generous fan who'd prefer to remain anonymous has been uploading complete scans of guides/perfect guide books from across the series, including most mothership titles and even a few spinoffs!!
I can't read a lick of Japanese myself but I've been having fun putting the Graces perfect guide through Google Translate's OCR anyway, would highly recommend to any fan 👍
