The Bob Jones University ministerial graduate of the Class of 1986 made that pathetic apology for his years of sexual predation and assault against a minor child in his church.
Tumblr media
The Bob Jones University administration was made fully aware of this in 2014.
And Jonathan Alan Weaver is welcomed on campus with no reservations.
This same man was arrested and is now GUILTY of these two charges in Bob Jones University's own county -- in Greenville county.
So here's the question for you, BJU.

As I drove past the Bob Jones University campus to support Shielagh Thompson Clark on Thursday, April 15, 2021 I saw the pinwheels outside their gates.
The pinwheels are to show support for Child Abuse Prevention Month.
A child who had been groomed and tortured and raped by their ministerial graduate--whom they expelled--is at that very moment downtown pursuing justice, and they have nothing but pinwheels to offer.
That's not proof of your repentance, BJU.
But it doesn't matter. You can't change. God has given you over to a reprobate mind.
You are whited sepulchers. God has written Ichabod over your doors.

Over the last week, WutBJU readers have corrected a few statements from the public record. Since there is more than one correction, I thought I'd highlight them in a separate post.
First of all, I conflated Weaver's age at the time of his sexual assault when Clark was a BJU student. He was 37 when he started his assault on her as a 15yo. However, he was 42 when he assaulted her when she was a BJU student.
Secondly, I have mentioned before that BJU's classification of students in the Vintage is flaky. They are always overly precise about such things. For clarification, Shielagh Thompson Clark was technically a sophomore who transferred in to BJU in the 2004-2005 school year. The Vintage lists her as a Freshman. That's BJU for you. They really care about these ever-so-important details. :/
Lastly, the GRACE Report describes Clark's letter as read to her Prayer Group upon her exit from BJU. However, the students did not hear that complete letter--only parts of it. It would be years before these women who lived right with Clark would hear the truth.

So you saw the timeline yesterday. Here's the part I can't forget.
2014: The GRACE Team confronts Bob Jones University administrators for their criminal handling of the sexual assault of a student in their care. Jim Berg claims it was some sort of "consensual" rape.
2015 December: The GRACE Report identified Shielagh Thompson Clark's case as Case #777.
2019 May: Weaver is on the BJU campus for Commencement.
2020 March: Greenville County arrested Jonathan Alan Weaver on two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
2021 April: Jonathan Alana Weaver took an Alford Plea against those two counts. He received 10 years probation.
Look closer.
In 2014, Jim Berg and Bob Jones III knew what Weaver had committed. They knew. We all know they knew. Frankly they knew in 2005 when his church drummed him out (without calling the police, it appears).
But in 2014 and again in 2015, the BJU administration KNEW what Weaver did. They knew his danger to young college-aged women.
And in May 2019, he's on campus.
But get this. You ready?
He's arrested in March 2020 for sexual assault. BJU says they "regret" their actions in mishandling his crime that same month. And he's back at the BJU campus in six months later. You see him up there on campus. We all recognize it.
Bob Jones University doesn't care about the safety of its young people. At all.
