Harmione Granger

Annoyed. Irritated. All these complex emotions at once.

“So we throw it away? All this hard work, for nothing?” Harry questioned with an irritated tone. I scoffed.

“Harry, we’re at a lost! I don’t want to relive finding horcruxes just because you believe Dumbledore left some for you to find!” I shouted, my body falling in disbelief.

Harry rolled his eyes, shooting me a glance. “This is important to me! It’s bad enough that Ron couldn’t come. I know he’d want to help!

I let my head fall into my hands. I felt defeated.

“You know, maybe you’d ought to think that I’m here not just to support you and help you Harry, but maybe because I’m also tired of going back and forth with you. I want answers Harry! What about me and you!” I retorted. My face felt hot, and I knew my eyes were just about to well up with all the emotions I was currently feeling.

I couldn’t help but run out of the tent. Being friends, best friends in fact, with Harry all these years, but I couldn’t let him see me break. I hated to show Ron and Harry that I could be vulnerable.

I ran far enough till I found a rock by the stream. I sat there, in total shock. As I tried to slow my breathing down, I broke. The tears ran quickly down my face, and my breathing that was once slow, sped up as fast as a seeker’s broom. I felt absolutely broken.

“Hermione.” A voice cracked behind me. I knew that voice, that sweet voice. It made me feel butterflies all over again, but right now, he needed to go.

“Harry, just please, leave me be right now.” I whispered, loud enough for him to hear. “No.”

I suddenly felt presence in front of me. That presence knelt in front of me with a hand on my cheek. I turned slightly, my eyes shut hard.

“Look, I know. I know we need to talk about us. Honestly Hermione, you’re brilliant, and I thought that someone as brilliant as you would be able to figure me out fairly quickly. I understand though, that we all need to be vocal with each other. I haven’t been doing that, I’m sorry.” He spoke, gently with every word.

I slowly opened my eyes, now facing a Harry who was looking right at me. In that moment, I felt safe. I felt in love.

“Harry, I-” I started, but he was quick to cut me off. “Hermione, I’m so sorry, truly. I like you, so much. You’re powerful, intelligent, beautiful, and so many other amazing things that I think about every single day. You drive me crazy in the best way. Hermione, I’m in love with you.”

A smile pulled from my lips, and just like that, my lips were moving with his. It felt intense, and careful, all at the same time.

As I pulled away, I could see Harry smiling wide. For the first time, I saw a genuine smile, one free of worries and stress.

“Harry, I know this is important to you, because you’re important to me. I know that any last thing of Dumbledore is worth everything for you. I’m going to help you. Please, just promise that we do it together. I need us on the same team.” I explained, wiping underneath my eyes.

Harry giggled. “Of course, we are on the same team.”

After a few moments out by the stream, Harry grabbed my hand and led me back to the tent. He turned on the radio, and we started to move slowly to the music. This is exactly what we both needed, a carefree, happy, few minutes to just be teenagers. Since Hogwarts, our lives have been so chaotic and filled with jumping right to the next adventure. This was a moment that felt normal.

Though our lives weren’t always normal, being with Harry, being close with him, it was all I wanted.

“Harry?” I questioned, my head leaning against his. He looked at me, as a response to keep going. I smiled. “Harry Potter, I love you.”

And then it happened again. A kiss, one filled with butterflies and love. With the man worth a million emotions.

They always together they are best buddies who protect and corrects each other

hermione literally smack harry if he do something stupid like sakura did to naruto

But despite having such a strong bond and development they didn’t ended up together but that’s totally fine because they have the most beautiful friendship and platonic love.‬

We all know how much sakura love sasuke vice versa and naruto already with hinata but I don’t think anyone can take sakura’s place in naruto’s heart and naruto in sakura’s.the platonic love game is really strong between them.

But team 7 does have the best bond just like our lovely trio wizard.

Deconstructing Baseless Harry Potter Arguments#2 (i) : Harmione Edition

Obviously I once again do not mean to target all Harmione shippers. I know quite a few who're very good human beings and tolerant and accepting above all. However these aren't. In this case, you might sense quite a bit of levelheadedness in the beginning, however you must not be fooled as it goes south and takes a nasty turn very quickly. Don't get your hopes up, this is some of the worst shit I've ever seen, especially the way in which it progresses through its course. Naturally, for this post I have picked my own style of writing which will match that of those redditors. Reddit is the perfect breeding ground for all these weird cults, honestly. I shall be resorting to a formal language and style of conversation, very much like a debater would to sound as pretentious as these do. These posts are found on the instagram handle toxicharmonyshippers who gather such toxic musings and sayings for Harmione shippers while respecting the ones that are nice.

Oh yes, let's use words like 'vehemently' to sound smart, why not? Of course, this little tidbit of the highly stupendous post seems more or less civil at the start. They also have the common decency to say "some Romione shippers" rather than generalizing all of us. Very nice of you, how very saint like. Let's wait till they drop the act and show us their true colors. Harkening back to the argument, I have but one question for you, "where do you find these people?". Where's the proof? Who are these radical Romione shippers who worship Ron and dislike Hermione? I haven't seen any such shippers and I am surrounded by Romione shippers on tumblr, instagram and fan fiction sites as well and haven't met the people you speak of. Some point out her flaws, yes, but no one hates her or dislikes her that much. I have seen two or three Romione shippers across hundreds and thousands who're skeptical of Hermione's perfection. you can, through these, see the amount of Hermione bashing across Harry Potter fanfiction and you can see that even in Romione fanfiction there's more Ron bashing. Hermione-bashing is a non-issue. That's what it is. Regarding the "nagging" statement, where's the lie in that? "Annoying" is somewhat subjective, I personally don't find her annoying at all. Who are these people and how often do you find them? "Mary Sue" is only reserved for Movie!Hermione. I have only seen book fans call her that. No one has ever called Book!Hermione Mary Sue. The movie does paint her as a flawless, all-rounder who's also drop-dead gorgeous. Only things she's bad at are flying and divination, all of which she denounces as useless, even though flying is like biking for wizards, divination, sure, not that important. with a teacher like Trelawney, even I would denounce it as hokum.

Remember what I said about waiting for them to show us their true colors, well here they are. Bask in the glory of their senseless arguments. Why, I am from reddit, heck I have 25 thousand karma points on there, I just left because it was too stupid for me but I can argue like them very well. And in this case I would like to say that these people are under the impression that Ron is just there in the story for the sake of existence. And he doesn't work hard. That argument is of course, wrong. Because Ron (in no particular order):

1) fights a troll when he's 11

2) is willing to sacrifice himself when he's 11

3) stands up for his friends

4) makes sure Harry feels like he belongs in the family

5) worries about Harry and rescues him from literal jail

6) stands up against Draco rather than by-standing and enabling his behavior

7) tries his level best to make sure Norbert the dragon is in safe hands and carries it out, albeit not in perfection

8) is with Harry every step of the way in his confronting the basilisk

9) sends Harry and Hermione long letters and calls them often to check up on them

10) stands up on a bitten leg to defend his best friend

11) always apologizes for any of his mistakes and is forgiving when others wrong him

12) works his way to join the Quidditch team unlike Draco who most certainly bought his way in

13) destroys at least 2 horcruxes

14) finds out how to defeat a horcrux

15) has an excellent enough memory and observation to notice Harry speaking parseltongue and also using it to his benefit which proves he's resourceful

now since I have 8 more such pictures to rebut and I do have a life, I will stop. These aren't even a twelfth of the remarkable things Ron has done though, so rest assured.

oh wait what did you say about him just existing and not working for anything? If I recall correctly, he did just as well as Harry did in school and didn't score well only in subjects he didn't care about. Which is true for most people except for Hermione who has an eidetic memory which not everyone has, understandably. Rote memorization is not the best way to get by in life, by the way.

what are the "so many reasons" behind why Harry is the best fit for Hermione? Kindly share so I can rebut those too, I'm rather free nowadays, my finals have been cancelled. You say there are so many reasons but don't even give one, yet you want me to take you seriously. I'm afraid that's impossible.

Romione shipper here, i don't dislike Hermione. I haven't met or seen many people in the book!romione fandom who dislike Hermione (except for Movie!Hermione). The question of someone you like ending up with someone you dislike doesn't particularly make sense. In Friends, Chandler ends up with Monica: now I'm not the biggest Monica fan (I don't hate her but I don't like her very much either) but they are my favorite couple because they make sense. It's about compatibility and character traits, not liking or disliking because that's just a set-up for a ghastly invitation for people to pair up hideousness. "Oh yeah, I like Harry and I also like Hagrid, they should be together. I mean it would be very very disgusting but that's my logic, now, you can't fight it. "- that's how you sound. Please read what you write. Your logic is just...abysmal. That's all I can say without breaking my resolve and berating you with colorful profanities.

This is without the doubt, the easiest one to rebut. It's a delight to see such terrible arguments at my disposal. Come on, dear Harmione shippers, write something that makes me question my choices, not things that make me scoff in disbelief.

In this case, you're essentially providing us with theories. Unproved theories and speculation of what you believe because you'd say anything you like. Where's the proof of your theory, though? Where is that crazy radical Romione shipper who does this? Kindly show me these people. Oh yes, you wanna say we objectify Hermione and disrespect her and view her as a prize. This aches me, that you believe this. No one has ever insinuated this, ever, in the history of anything. What is this winner-loser theory? How do you round off Harry Potter to "an alpha-male ends up with lead-lady" trope and still say you're a fan of the series? Harry Potter doesn't fit in with that format. Ron, Hermione and Harry are co-heroes. Similar to how there's no main character in Friends or the Heroes of Olympus series or the Avengers. We're not living in the 80s anymore. Hermione will be a hero, invariably whether she ends up with Harry, Ron or no one. She ends up with Ron and that's it. Talking about her like this doesn't make you sound any better either. Now you're calling me a misogynist because I don't support the ship of two people who describe themselves as siblings. That's very mature of you. Well here's the thing- I'm not a misogynist. It's as simple as that. I believe that women are capable of anything and everything. I believe Hermione is an amazing person and she is a hero and a different person. I believe the series would be impossible without her. I believe she is no one's prize. There's no requirement of a prize. I just think, similar to canon and the truth and her romantic interest, she will have a great relationship with Ron. There's nothing complex or deep about it, really. No personal weird-thing, no psychological complex, no internalized misogyny. There's nothing deeper than what I said. I am not sexist. I am a feminist. I am all for women empowerment. I love women with the fabric of my being. I love Hermione. I think she's amazing. You only become sexist when you ship people with unstable power dynamics, a bully-victim relation or something of the sort. Neither Romione, nor Harmione are sexist. Heck if you paired Neville with Hermione you wouldn't be sexist. And I hate talking about this so much, I can't even tell you. This talk does make it sound like I treat Hermione like an object and I assure you I respect her and I normally won't talk like this unless someone just outright calls me sexist for something that's not sexist. And this is that situation.

in the case of Romione, no one is too good for anyone. Both are amazing people who're heroes and have done amazing work. That's all I have to say. There's no league, they are romantically interested in each other. I have no intention on sounding lame, but, in love there is no league. As long as you're not putting in any effort and are extremely lazy and leech off of your partner, there is no such concept and no, Hermione is not "too good" for him. Unless of course you're talking about movie Hermione, who is too good for anyone.

Let me correct ya, Ron at his best is an amazing, loyal, friendly, brave, strategic hero. There you have it. Ron and 'git' can't be used in the same sentence. Now if you talk about Ron's achievements, I re-iterate you to point two. If it's too much work, here:

hey, see, I like Ron and I took the time to copy-paste this instead of asking you to scroll up. And I'm a lot of bad things but I am not lazy. I stick to my deadlines like Hermione. I start my homework in library class and continue it during phys ed the day its given. And I am not exaggerating. Bloody hell, I wish I was. I'm the ceo of deadlines, mate, don't tempt me! So you can see that Ron is much more than just a "nice bloke". And being a "nice bloke" isn't a bad thing either. He's all the things I said: intuitive, strategic, helpful, loyal and on top of that he's also a nice person. Yes, I do see a bit of myself in Ron. I do. I see the insecure side. I waste my time hating myself and criticizing myself and undermining myself, telling me I'm no good. But Ron overcomes that. He inspires me to appreciate myself. Is that a bad thing? Are you going to shame me for having a low self-esteem? Do you want to worsen my low self-esteem and make me feel more like shit?

Now the person who replied to your comment saying, "he isn't a nice bloke most of time.", he is. He is not being nice twice in a span of 7 years. How often do you act rudely or with jealousy? Wasn't Harry yelling at everyone in caps lock in OOTP. Now I don't condemn him for that because he's a fucking hormonal teenager like me and that would make me a hypocrite, but by your logic why don't you condemn him? Or why not condemn Hermione for saying "I only date good Quidditch players" and shoving canaries at Ron's face because someone else kissed him, while she kept using Krum and Cormac to make him jealous. She wasn't being a nice girl, then, was she? Now, once again, i don't dislike her or hold that against her because guess what, mate, I'm a hormonal teenage girl who gets jealous most of the time and would probably react in a similar fashion in the spur of the moment (Not defending her actions here, just putting myself in her shoes.) In short, Ron is a nice bloke MOST OF THE TIME.

It would be misogynistic to think that. The thing is, NO ONE DOES my dear friend! My dear daft friend. I have never heard anyone say that! why are you so hell-bent on portraying us as misogynists when no one ever says that? Stop assuming. Just stop. You are crossing a limit here, aren't you? Yes you are. You cannot say these sort of things. We never said that or believed that, no one ever said this to be a reason to ship Romione. God what is wrong with you? Literally, stop fucking ASSUMING god damn it! Do you want me to assume things about Harmione shippers? Do you want me to go there? Because I will go there! I will go there the moment you tell me to. Just challenge me.

Ron is not a perfect best boi , the reason why so many of us like him is that he's imperfect and tries to become better through the course of time. You are once again assuming and I am once again asking you to stop.

Ron might be an ordinary wizard. He might be poor, sure, but he's a pure-blood and won't face much if he chose not to fight. But he did. He fought. Now I identify with Ron's attitude a fair bit, but I am also likely to spend my day in a library without noticing. People aren't one dimensional. Stop trying to act like you're a psychologist, i know you're not. I don't even think Hermione's overbearing at all! You just insulted someone you're a big fan of. Jesus.

Both Hermione and Ron are strategic, jealous, passionate, feisty, argumentative, intellectual...

that's like 6 similarities. They aren't polar opposites in the slightest. Their differences are just: workaholic, not workaholic. Nerd, not a nerd. Like that's fucking it, man!

being relaxed doesn't make you less independent or driven. A relaxed and levelheaded Hermione will think through things, not be impulsive, not panic etc. She doesn't need Ron. I don't understand your obsession with acting like we ever insinuated that. Then she doesn't need Harry either lol. Stop shipping her with Harry, then or like shut the fuck up. Being a bit relaxed won't stop her or anyone from hitting great strides. Just don't get relaxed to the point you're lazy and casual about everything, that's it.

What do you mean? Ron is balanced. He does finish his work on time. And even if he does procrastinate, she could also help him not and be more driven. Of course, this is an open invitation for you to call me a sexist bitch because I said that she could help him and now you'll think her goal is to help him become better yada yada yada. Fuck off. Defeating the horcrux taught him enough. He respected her. He remembered about the elves when she didn't. He begged to be tortured instead of her. He wouldn't need it because school work and jobs are different and the same person might perceive those differently. Calmness and relaxation doesn't hinder your potential. Not caring and laziness does. You can't function if you work and are stressed 24/7 with zero breaks. Period.

No i do not want (nor does anyone want) Hermione to become Ron. Being slightly calmer doesn't change up your personality. I'm sure many people dislike those sort of fanfics without a doubt. I hate OOC and I don't want Hermione to lose her intellect with Ron because that makes no sense. Ron himself is intellectual and loves arguing with her. They'd boost each other, more like it.

Trials Of Life

Summary : When Hermione found it difficult to tell something to Ron, She didn't know whom she should confide in until her other best mate shows up. Harmione Brotp

The pile of files were getting stacked itself on one side. The broken Tea Cups were mending itself on the other. Harry stood behind his desk looking at the retarding figure of one of the criminals with 3 Aurors beside trying to hold him back from destroying everything. Last night, The team managed to catch some snatchers who proved to be mentally unstable and almost wrecked his office when they got them to Harry.

After being Promoted a month before, Both him and Ron no longer have to take part in every missions directly instead they just have to keep an eye on the things and their direct presence is only needed in high profile cases. Though Harry loved what he did before, He couldn't be more thankful to not go for missions by himself. A few years back, He would have argued with the head if they asked him to not go for missions by himself but now, with a family growing and the thought of his son's toothy smile whenever he comes back home from work stopped him from getting into danger.

With James born, Harry now understood what it meant to be a family. A few years back, He was ready to give his life just like that if it meant the safety of others but now, even the mere thought of having to leave his wife and son itself killed him and everytime he went on missions, there was this thick feeling of fear in his heart that he might not be able to come back home the next time.

As he put on his coat and pocketed his wand, ready to leave home, One of the Aurors came back in. "Mr Potter, These are the files Mr Weasley asked for. But he's not in his office."

"It's okay. Give that to me. Ron went early today. I will give him!", With that Harry took the package from him and walked out of his office closing the door behind. Ron left early today, deciding to help George in his shop for a while before going home. Harry couldn't help but admire how his best mate matured over the years. It was not like he was immature before, when thinking, it was always Ron who was the sensible one in their group having more knowledge about the Wizarding world than him and Hermione. Though Hermione was the brain, The invisible force that always kept them together was Ron. He knew how to ease a situation even when things are going bad outside. And Harry learnt this in the hard way when Ron left because of the Horcrux back when they were on the run. Those are the days he didn't like to recall, but all the same time, never really able to forget.

After the war, when everyone tried to restore their lives back to normal, It was Ron who made sure everyone is okay. He spent nights trying to calm Molly. He made sure that Ginny's okay cause he knew no matter how tough Ginny shows herself to be, deep inside she is his little sister. He looked out for him and Hermione and made sure that they are not left out. He spent time with George trying to bring him back. Overall, He was there for everyone, making sure everyone has his shoulder to cry on and share things. Harry couldn't be more proud of his best mate.

With thoughts rounding in his head, He headed towards Hermione's Office to get her so that they can go back together. It was something that they did on a daily basis. The three of them always come and leave together. Ron and Harry always finishes soon and together they goes to Hermione knowing her that if given a chance, she would spent her whole day in her office not caring about anything else.

Harry opened the door to get in but stopped in his tracks seeing Hermione. Surprisingly, Hermione didn't have her nose in any books or files today, instead her eyes were darted towards some open space looking lost in thoughts. She didn't even notice Harry as he approached her and stood beside her table.

Harry made some noise and she jerked her head towards him as if being woken up from a dream.

"Hermione?", He raised his eyebrows before taking the seat before her.

"Harry..!! When did you come? Where's Ron?", She asked.

Harry looked bewildered, "Ron left early today. Didn't he inform you? He said he did!"

Hermione blinked for a second and then as if coming back to senses, "Oh Yeah! He did! He sent me a Patronus. I forgot!!", She spoke.

Harry didn't understand what was going on. "Hermione, Are you Okay? Did you two have any fight or anything?",

Hermione looked at him surprised for once but then composed herself, "No..No..!!I am okay! Its alright! Everything's alright! It has to be!", She spoke more to herself and Harry was sure there was something off with her. Ron looked alright in the morning and he was cheerful even when he left.

Harry looked at her and noticed she was gazing down at her lap as if not daring to look at him. He was worried. He has never seen Hermione in such a state, lost of words and not daring to look into the eye. Not even when there was a battle going on and they were all in a Do or Die situation. This Hermione made him feel sick in the pit of his stomach. He knew how much he and Ron leaned on her. She was like a support to both of them but in two different ways.

Harry stood up and moved around the table to reach her. He conjured a Chair and sat on it near her. "Hermione? Is everything alright? Don't lie! What happened?", He asked as softly as possible. Handling such situations was never his thing but having a Family and handling Ginny during her Pregnancy did teach him things.

And suddenly he was taken aback as Hermione threw her hands around him hugging him like never. Harry was shocked but hugged her back patting her. He heard sobs and he felt her breathing becoming uneven as he felt the top of his coat getting wet. Worried, He pulled himself away and looked at her. Her eyes were red and puffy and her hair was disheveled. She was biting her lips trying to control the sob that was escaping. Harry has seen her like this only once, during their run when Ron left but even then, It wasn't this bad.

"Hermione? What happened? Why are you crying?", He asked holding her hands.

"Oh Harry..!! I..-", She was sobbing so hard that Harry put his arms around her and hugged her hoping it would calm her a bit.

After a while, when he felt her calming a little bit, He pulled away and looked at her as if hoping her to speak up.

Hermione took a deep breath trying to calm her nerves before speaking, "Ha- Harry! You know..We, Me and Ron..have been trying to conceive for a while!", She spoke with difficulty and Harry nodded. He knew it. Ron once told him about it saying after seeing Ginny with her big bump, he kind of started imagining Hermione like that and all. And Harry knew if anyone deserves more happiness than all, Its his two best mates.

"Well..!!Its...Its been a while! And..we- we were not able to!", Hermione continued and as she did, Harry kind of realized what is coming next and he prayed hard to not think of that possiblity.

"So..I went to St Mungos today! And..and-", The cry that she has been controlling till now broke off and she buried her face in her hands. Harry felt his heart paining itself. He can never imagine them going through such a phase, not after what they had to go through all those times and looking at the way Ron looked after all his nephews, this will be his worst nightmare.

Harry moved forward and hugged her, "Wh- What did they say?", He asked.

"They said..There's only a 10 percent chance! It's one of the after effects of the Cruciatus Curse.", Hermione said pulling away from him and gazing at her lap.

Harry didn't know what to say and he felt guilty thinking how different it would have been for them if he never became their friend. They would have been better. But at the same time, the thought of spenting his Hogwarts life without them seemed more painful.

"No Harry! Don't blame yourself. It is never your fault!", She spoke as if reading his mind like she always does and her voice was stern like before, for a second forgetting the situation.

Harry looked at her, "There's still 10 percent chance Hermione! Don't worry..!", He spoke and Hermione slowly nodded, her eyes filling back.

"I know how much it means to Ron! He never tells anyone about it but I can see it. The way he looks at you with James and the way he plays with them. I know it. And..-", she swallowed a sob. "And I can't even give him that!"

"Don't say that Hermione! We still have chance. Don't lose hope. We got through even more disastrous situations. Didn't we? We'll get through this too! And there's more technology in the Muggle world, Right? Everything will be fine.", Harry patted her back as she nodded and he leaned in placing a kiss on her forehead.

"Do you want to go home now or just sit here for a while more?", He asked.

She thought for a while and then taking a deep breath, she said, "No! Let's go. I have to talk to Ron!", She gulped.

"Hey!! Its alright. Ron'll understand!"

"I know!", She whispered.

Harry nodded. Hermione stood up and with a wave of her wand, she stacked the files and also arranged her hair before walking around to stand beside Harry. Harry also stood up and put the chair he conjured back into its place.

"Thank You Harry!", Hermione muttered looking at Harry with a pale smile which he reciprocated. Hermione put her arms around his and they disapparated.

That moment when you’re just casually browsing A03 for Romione fics when you come across a fic that has Ron so effed up by the locket in the future that it’s his desire to see Harry and Hermione together, he’s not close to his niece and nephews, Harry and Hermione are more a team than ever before without him....the lengths some of these Harmione shippers will go to. Like what does that say about Harry as a friend, or Hermione as a wife that they would agree to that instead of checking Ron in with a Mind Healer? I know that the point of fanfiction is to experiment with and expand on canon but some of this is so horrible I’m just like WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK??

I’ve made it no secret that I find tumblrs fixation on the trope pretty damn obsessive. But there is some I like. For example

Descendants. Despite the fans insistence on romance where there isn’t (looking at you malvie cult)

Julie and the phantoms

Scooby doo

Timeless. To hell with Flynn.

Doctor who. In all iterations

Most films in the Disney animated canon

Harry Potter. Again. Despite fans insistence on romance where there isn’t (looking at you harmione trash)

Sherlock. Johnlock morons don’t interact

Once upon a time. This is basically just found biological family so it gets extra points. Just don’t tag as swan qu*en

Agents of shield. W*rd fuckers stay away.

Now I’m not saying any of these necessarily remain in the same place. Cause cast turnover is a staple of doctor who, there’s been at least two films where mystery inc have either drifted apart or outright split up and I don’t know if team Coulson part ways or not. But still. People lose touch. And that’s ok. Found family isn’t the be all and end all. Cause that’s just not healthy. But I digress. These are the found family’s I actually like. A Response to “Why Harry & Hermione Should Be Together”, a YouTube Video by the Super Carlin Brothers

First, there are some things that I want to get out of the way:

I harbor no hatred towards Jonathon and Ben or any members of the Super Carlin Brother team and this is not meant as a reason for anyone to leave hate comments on their videos or social media. I have been a fan of theirs for several years now and am simply using their video to get my opinions on the matter out there.

I am all for letting people have their own opinions and people shipping whatever they want, with a couple exceptions such as pedophilia and incest, neither of which is the case here. This is not meant to make Harry/Hermione fans feel attacked or excluded. Again, I am just using the reasons stated in defense of Harmione in this video to create a list of reasons of why I, personally, am against them being together.

Some quotes might be slightly misquoted due to very quick annotations on my part, but I believe the meaning of the quotes stayed the same.

The video starts out with Ben wanting to get a few things out of the way before getting on to his reasons on why Harry and Hermione should be together and those things were: “Hermione is, like, whatever comes, like, one steo above queen.”, Movie Ginny, and horrible Harry/Ginny moments in the movies which honestly instantly put me into fight or flight mode because while he explains that he doesn’t know if the movies are affecting his judgement, I could tell right away that a lot of the reasons were going to boil down to the movies.

Then he moves on to his reasons which in summary are: Harry and Hermione are really great friends, Harry and Ginny came out of nowhere, Ron and Hermione fight a lot, and he ships Ron and Luna. Below, I will discuss each of these reasons and my thoughts on it.

Reason #1: “Harry and Hermione are just really good friends who get along and work well together.”

Sure, they’re great friends, I’ll give you that, but let me show you how they act when Ron isn’t around:

Deathly Hallows, Chapter 16 Godric's Hollow, pages 311 and 312

Now let’s get to his actual reasoning

“In the first book it seems like that’s what they’re setting you up for anyway.”

Interesting take, I wonder why he thinks this.

“Ron is straight up mean to Hermione all the way up to Halloween.”

Oh, really, an eleven year old was mean to another eleven/twelve year old and then they became friends. How odd. That never happens in real life. (Note the sarcasm.) And I wonder, was Harry friends with her before Halloween? *thinks back on book* Hmm, nope.

“...Extremely touching moment right before Harry has to go through and face down Quirrel.”

Philosopher’s Stone, Chapter 16 Through the Trapdoor, pages 286 and 287

Listen, if I thought one of my friends was about to die, I don’t need to be their soulmate to say something nice to them before I may never see them again. Plus, they’re eleven and twelve at this point, and even if Hermione did have a crush on him then, that doesn’t mean they belong together.

“It’s not like the rest of the books are just littered with confessions of admiration. I think it’s just overall the way these two would treat each other, like, it comes with so much more respect, it feels like.”

Friends can respect each other.

“It seems like all the time, she’s throwing her arms around him, like a big hug whenever she sees him.”

I feel like a lot of the hugs are movie scenes but also friends can show physical affection, hugs do not mean someone likes you.

“She’s like kinda low-key super interested in Harry’s love life.”

This was about Cho and Hermione’s interest in Harry and Cho’s friendship/relationship but I’ve had complete strangers interested in my love life, let alone my friend’s interest, it does not mean any of them liked me.

I didn’t get a direct quote on these next two, but he goes off on a tangent about Krum and Hermione (which I do not even want to talk about) and ended it with his theory that Hermione only went to the Yule Ball with Krum to make Harry jealous and backs it up with zero proof - unless you count stating that Krum is also a seeker is great evidence, which I do not.

He also brings up the fact that Hermione helps Harry with the summoning charm before the first task in Goblet of Fire but Ron let Harry practice the stunning spell on him repeatedly before the third task so... I’m just saying if we’re going to base ships off people helping Harry with a task, we have better options.

Honestly, a lot of evidence in the video for Hermione and Harry was speculation about Hermione liking Harry and very little on whether Harry liked Hermione, which matters just as much, and we know for a fact that he didn’t:

Deathly Hallows, Chapter 19 The Silver Doe, page 378

Reason # 2: “Harry and Ginny, I guess are, like, fine, but it’s this thing that’s, like, lightly introduced where Ginny has a crush on him in book two and then it sort of evaporates and doesn’t exist at all until it comes on full bore in book six and it kind of feels, like, shoehorned in.”

This reason is given little evidence, other than a theory that Hermione was “eliminating the biggest threat” by telling Ginny to date other guys, which is just weird.

The build up of Harry and Ginny’s friendship and eventual relationship is subtle but amazing and I really suggest you check out @hillnerd ‘s post on it here because they explain the build up better than I ever could.

Reason #3: “Ron and Hermione fight... a lot.”

Disclaimer: A lot of these quotes are less about them fighting and more about Ben trying to discredit Ron and Hermione.

“It’s not that I don’t like Hermione and Ron together, like, I would say they’re a 95 out of 100, it works pretty good, but I’m here to say that Harry and Hermione are a straight up one hundo out of one hundo. Okay, maybe not a one hundo out of one hundo but at least a 96 and when did Hermione ever settle for one point lower than she possible could have on a quiz.”

Relationships are not a quiz that can be graded and Hermione did not settle for Ron, this is just a horrible argument.

“Hermione and Ron, they don’t exactly always share the same kind of intimate friendship.”

Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 23 Christmas on the Closed Ward, page 503

He specifically uses this book excerpt to back up his point, stating that Hermione’s responses to gifts prove that she likes Harry better than Ron - when in truth, she just likes Harry’s gift better.

“...Yule Ball though, let’s actually talk about that because I feel like it’s a really great example of Ron not noticing Hermione.”

Goblet of Fire, Chapter 22 The Unexpected Task, page 400

“He’s only just now realizing that she is someone that he either is or even could be romantically interested in.”

I just want to point out that at this point, Ron is fourteen, and fourteen year olds, at least in my experience, are not the smartest. Yes, he was being a bit of git in this scene, thinking that just because Hermione was a girl and their friend, she should go with one of them, and thinking that it’s impossible she could have gotten a date on her own - but he obviously knew she was a girl. And yeah, maybe he is just realizing that he could be attracted to her, but fourteen isn’t a weird age to begin recognizing attraction.

Ron and Hermione have a great relationship, and yes, in a lot of the text, they are fighting. But we should not forget that Harry is narrating the books and we don’t get to see the entirity of their relationship. Of course he’s narrating about their fights - that’s the part of their friendship/relationship that effects him.

“Secret” Reason #4: “I think that Ron should have ended up with Luna.”

I can see some of the reasoning for this because there is a little bit of evidence of Luna maybe liking Ron in Order of the Phoenix, but I don’t think we see anything that would suggest Ron liking Luna, which again, is also important. And he gives no reason why he thinks Ron and Luna would have been better suited for each other.

Finally, Ben’s concluding point was

“And you know what, if I’m reading too much into the books which maybe we do, the movies go out of their way to reinforce the idea.”

This concluding statement is basically my earlier fear coming true, when in the end, all the reasons boiled down to a montage of scene of Harry and Hermione in the movies, which let’s be honest, were basically just Steve Kloves’ Harmione fanfiction.

I’m going to be honest, I watched this video all the way through twice, and I found the reasoning weak and not at all convincing. You can ship whatever you want - even Harry and Hermione - but that doesn’t mean it would work in actual canon.

Hermione Granger + Harry Potter

It was a loud afternoon in Hogwarts. They were all in the Quidditch pitch watching Slytherin versus Gryffindor, the end of the year match which can determine the House Cup winner. Hermione was in the stands cheering for the Gryffindors of course. Cheering for a particular Gryffindor. It was not hard not to keep an eye on Harry Potter who was hovering over the match, watching and waiting for the Golden Snitch. His hair stuck out in every direction but he still managed to make it look like it was styled. It probably was, the Potters did own the Sleakezy Hair Products.

Her eyes darted subconsciously on the bottom of the pitch where the Gryffindor coach, James Potter, was standing. His hands on his waist and squinting behind his glasses to look at his team. Hermione's mind wandered to Harry looking exactly like his father when he grows up. Strong arms, perfect frame. She snapped her head back up to the Gryffindor seeker and was upset to have lost him.

She brought her omnioculars in front of her eyes and frantically searched for him when he heard a very loud, "GO HARRY!! GO!!" apparently from Ron Weasley that was Harry Potter's best mate. They were inseparable since they came to Hogwarts, and Hermione very much disliked that loud freckly red head. That thought was wiped away when she finally found Harry Potter who had seemingly found the Golden Snitch. The Gryffindors cheered for Harry and the Slytherins joined when their Seeker followed behind Harry.

It wasn't long before Harry Potter leapt from his broom and caught the Snitch. He's thankful the height was relatively low so he landed on the ground with a thud and rolling with just a few bruises.

Hermione screamed with the rest of the Gryffindors as the announcer said the Gryffindor team won. Harry Potter was carried by his team and he was raising the Snitch like a medal, while the crowd cheered for his name. Harry Potter's black hair was slick with sweat, there was a bleeding bruise on his cheek, and his glasses were broken. The Quidditch gear was hugging his physique and his brilliantly green eyes were almost shining under the sunlight. His teeth were white and straight and isn't he just perfect.

"Why are you so thirsty?"

Hermione was snapped away from her thoughts when Parvati Patil half-shouted at her through the cheering crowd.

"What are you talking about?" Hermione's voice quivered and her cheeks were heating.

"Harry Potter? Really?" Parvati replied, grinning.

"A-aren't we all?" Hermione stuttered.

"Yeah. He is such a dream." Parvati sighed dreamily and went back to looking at the Gryffindors.

Hermione silently sighed in relief and when she looked up Harry Potter also turned his head to her direction and gave a small smile.

Logically, Harry Potter could have been smiling at anyone since she was in the middle of the crowd. But for now, she let herself think that smile was for her.

And Hermione swooned.

Other favorite ships abd fandoms besides titanic, avatar, and zutara?

Oh yes, definitely! Quite a few, even!

I’m a huge The Greatest Showman fan! What really sold me on it was the trailer 6 months before release. I couldn’t wait until Christmas 2017, bought the album as soon as it was released, listened to every song multiple times to know them by heart when I was to see the movie, and I still adore it! My favourite ship from that movie Carlwheeler (or Anne and Phillip). They’re adorable, and I should definitely work on my Haunted Mansion AU again.

I’ve been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom for a while, though not as much as Endgame (I was incredibly satisfied by the ending, though I bawled like a baby for the last 30 minutes straight + the end credits, Tony Stark hit me hard!) The movie that really made me love the MCU was Captain America: The First Avenger. It’s still SO good, as I’ve realized when doing my gigantic MCU rewatch before Endgame. My favourite ship Steggy (or Steve and Peggy). It took us almost 10 years, but I ended up winning on that one!! It doesn’t happen often, let me tell you. I like the ships that get effed over. As you’ll see from now on.

I’ve loved Star Wars for years. My favourite movie is and always will be Return of the Jedi, followed closely by The Force Awakens. Luke is my all-time favourite character. I headcanon him hardcore as aromantic and asexual. It’s been... rough, to say the least. Ever since The Last Jedi was released. All my faves were done so dirty by that movie, it’s never really been the same since. Though The Mandalorian has given me faith in the franchise once again, especially this week! My favourite ship is Finnrey (or Finn and Rey)! Finn got sidelined and Rey was turned into a shell of her former self for Rey/lo. They deserved better.

Speaking of franchises that got effed over, I was in the X-Men: First Class until Apocalypse came out in 2016. That one was about as bad as The Last Jedi for me. It utterly destroyed the X-Men franchise and I couldn’t bare watching the other movies that came after. Even the fandom kind of fell out of disgrace after that movie, everybody dropped and went home. Thankfully, Marvel got the rights back for the X-Men (and Fantastic Four, though that’s irrelevant here), so we’ll see where they take these characters! My favourite ship was Cherik (or Charles and Erik). I love how they fought for each other, understood each other like no one else could, and were incredibly powerful as a team. Equals.

And again, speaking of franchises that got effed over, I was in the Harry Potter fandom for a long, long time. My favourite movie was Prisoner of Azkaban. I started losing faith about Harry Potter when the first Fantastic Beasts came out (it was a mess, I loved Newt Scamander, but the storylines did NOT mix well together, the tones clashed, I hate the Grindelwald storyline and the movie and History of Wizards in North America REEKS of racism). J.K. Rowling’s TERFery really put the nail in the coffin for me. I loved Harmione (or Harry and Hermione), always have since I was a kid. I didn’t read the books growing up, so I was really mad when they didn’t end up together. Sigh.

AND AGAIN, speaking of franchises that got effed over, I loved Once Upon a Time, too. Until the whole show became “we love Captain Hook for no reason other than Colin O’Donoughue is hot and Cap/tain Swa/n is the most popular ship” show. I used to love Rumbelle (Rumplestiltskin and Belle), but that ship was literally ruined by the show. I loved a lot of Emma ships, like Emma x Graham, Emma x August and Emma x Neil (which, in turn, all got worse and worse endings) but Emma, too, was ruined by the show in favour of Captain Hook and the toxic Cap/tain Swa/n fans that pushed everyone out of the fandom. Urgh.

ANYWAY I love the ships with awesome badass women and the men who will stand by their side and be awed 24/7 by them. Which fits Zutara pretty well. Cheriks fits with the enemies part and the powerful equals part, too!
