Are they serious? We don't recall them ever disavowing any of the bigoted Democrat Congressional Hamas Caucus members. - EY

Tell it like it is Ted Lieu!
Indeed, President Zelensky seems to have just been following a tradition of wartime national leaders.
And you could not have a better role model than Churchill when it comes to leadership (and proper attire) during a war.

Yes, Marjorie Taylor Green is unhappy about falling gas prices.
Now gas prices have fallen considerably. They now average about $3.44 per gallon nationwide, which is equal to where they were two years ago. That's down from a high of $5.02 in June of 2022. And even though prices fell each month for the remainder of last year, the GOP furiously condemned Biden as being responsible for the high prices and criticized him for not bringing them down.
On Friday on the floor of the House of Representatives, Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-QAnon) sought to make gas prices an issue again. But this time she was appalled that Biden had taken measures to lower gas prices. How dare Biden make the cost of living more affordable for the American people? This debate was centered around her amendment (which later lost by a landslide 14 to 418 vote) to place restrictions on when and how a president can utilize the Strategic Petroleum Reserves.
She doesn’t really care about the gas price. She is emo that she lost an issue to use against Biden.
It's a welcome surprise to see Greene actually admit that Biden lowered gas prices, even though she somehow intended it to be a criticism. To be clear, Greene only wants to make sure that Biden is castigated for gas prices when they are high, and also when he successfully manages to lower them. It's a lose-lose proposition.
Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA-36) is a living national treasure. His ability to take down Trump Republicans is exceptional.
Rep. Lieu responded to Greene...
“There's another reason this Republican bill is so stupid. Because not only did Joe Biden lower your gas prices, the United States of America made a profit on it. Buy low, sell high. It was brilliant what Joe Biden did. He released the Strategic Petroleum Reserves when gas prices were high, and that helped lower the gas prices. And then he refilled it at the lower amount. The U.S. made $4 billion dollars on Joe Biden's actions. The Republicans always want to say 'Let's run government like a business.' Joe Biden did exactly that when he lowered your gas prices, and then made a $4 billion dollar profit for the United States of America.”
You read that correctly. Biden made $4 billion in profits for the US. Of course the GOP would probably like to give that to their donors in the form of tax breaks for the filthy rich.
MTG is allegedly maneuvering to become Trump’s running mate in 2024. With performances like this, she’s trying to prove that she has sufficient stupidity for the position. So far that shouldn’t be a problem for her.

Ted Lieu Explains Something Key About Trumps Problems...They are All of His Own Making
It’s really easy to take little tribal sides (and I make no bones about the fact I’m a “Never Trumper” and the reasons behind it) If all your reason to vote for Trump is “I don’t like Biden” but can’t explain what about Biden you dislike that you can’t find a worse parallel in Trump and his cronies, I suspect you just can’t cope with cognitive dissonance, and have the compartmentalization skills…

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has been accused of calling for civil war in a Presidents Day tweet.
“We need a national divorce,” the extremist Republican tweeted. “We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal goverrnment. Everyone I talk to says this. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done.”
It’s not the first time Greene, who vocally supported the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection on the U.S. Capitol, has floated the idea of secession. In October 2021, she polled her Twitter followers on whether they thought the U.S. should “have a national divorce.” She was similarly condemned at the time.
Civil War broke out in the U.S. in the 1860s, after an alliance of Southern states seceded in an effort to continue the legal enslavement of Black people.
Tumblr media
Monday’s tweet attracted backlash from both sides of the political aisle. Utah’s Republican Gov. Spencer Cox slammed her rhetoric as “destructive and wrong and — honestly— evil.”
Tumblr media
“We don’t need a divorce, we need marriage counseling. And we need elected leaders that don’t profit by tearing us apart,” Cox tweeted. “We can disagree without hate. Healthy conflict was critical to our nation’s founding and survival.”
Sharing Greene’s tweet, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) noted that “secession is unconstitutional” and no member of Congress should advocate for it.
Tumblr media
Democrats, including 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson and Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.), also denounced Greene’s rhetoric.

Others labeled the missive treasonous and traitorous. See some of the other reactions below.

I think I would genuinely cry if ted hugged/cuddled me, cause I’m so touch-starved
Same, friend. The way I need a big old cuddle right now is unreal. Just a cuddle and a back rub and like, a quiet, low-volume movie in a dark room. That's what I want. Anyone else? Yeah. We all do. Let's gooo!
---
Relationship: Ted Lasso x reader
Warnings: None, all cuddle
---
It's the way Ted feels when he's curled up next to you or behind you.
His warm body. You can sometimes feel his heart beating against your ear or your back.
It's the way he smells -- that woodsy body wash and cologne combo that's not too strong but smells like a man. Not a boy at a club - not Axe body spray that makes you gag. No, a man.
His hands are big and warm. His fingers are fairly slender yet thick at the same time. When he drags them down your arm, or down your back, you feel instant release of tension.
You feel his hands travel up over your hip and waist, over your arm and shoulder, across your back, to your neck. He touches you like he'd touch art.
When you curl into Ted, into his chest, you can help nuzzling into the tuft of chest hair that peeks out from the neck of his undershirt. Or, in lieu of that, just burying yourself in that thatch of dark, course hair in general. It smells like the rest of him.
When the room is dark and it's just the TV and the rain pattering against the window, you really feel like you're in your own little world.
"You wanna watch somethin' else, dumplin'," Ted will ask, making sure to flip the channel to something you like. Your opinion matters most to him.
You nod and hum. "Whatever you want," is your usual answer, and he smiles. He always finds some old comedy movie on that delights him.
"Oh, You've Got Mail is on," he says, his hand gripping you closer. "Not as good at Sleepless in Seattle but still good."
You grin and chuckle, the vibration of his husky voice in your ear and against your skin. You love his little takes on things.
"Why do you like Seattle better?" you ask drowsily, his hand still drifting up and down your back while you burrow against his neck and run your fingers down his chest.
"Because it's such a great story for folks who love radio. I mean, a radio host answers a caller, and a little boy wants to find his dad love?" Ted says, sighing with a smile. "Plus, that little guy always reminded me of Henry."
You look at him and smile, kissing his lips. "Hen is a sweet kid, Ted. You raised him so well."
Ted squeezes you a little tighter.
"I appreciate that darlin'. Henry sure likes you, too," Ted says, his voice getting drowsy as the movie hums on.
"I think Hen would've picked you off a radio if he had the chance."
---
I am having a not-so-great week and the thought of just snuggling up with Ted for a cozy evening is so...comforting. The way I'd move into those blankets and arms and never allow eviction. Mmm! Thanks for the prompt, friend. Hope this was comforting!

i wonder if a lot of the ted-as-jamies-father-figure stuff comes from the fact that he's SO heavily contrasted with james sr anytime he and jamie interact. and then you get a two roads in the woods situation. on the one hand, compared to how james treats jamie, it's easy to think "yeah ted! that's how a real dad acts!" when he's doing things like giving ted the army man or being gentle with him in the crown + anchor. but on the other hand, if you get past ted's mannerisms and look at his actions/words, what he's actually doing is, uh, not great!
Excellent point! I very much agree (and it's super interesting that the vast majority of their interactions revolve around James Sr. on some level.)
@goodmorninglovelies42 said Ted sees Jamie as a son-figure but Jamie doesn't see Ted as a father-figure and I think there's a lot of truth to that!
(although personally, I also think even that is very much mixed up in Ted's own Henry & Dad stuff. IMO, Ted sees many of the boys as substitute sons he can focus on guiding and leading in lieu of his missing actual son [and as a way to work past the guilt he feels at leaving said son behind]. He isn't there for Henry but he can be there for Jamie, Sam, Nate, etc. Like, I totally do think Ted sees Jamie as a son-figure, but in a 'Jamie can easily fit into the son-shaped hole in my chest' way as opposed to like, something specific about Jamie himself/Jamie's personality that has Ted caring for him like and thinking of him as a son. If that makes sense? To me it all boils down to that I do not think Ted actually comes to ever understand Jamie on a personal or deeper level, it's moreso the idea of Jamie/what Jamie represents that gets into Ted's head.)
I feel like i'm at risk of coming off as way too harsh on Ted lol so I also want to clarify that I believe in all of the following:
Ted genuinely cares about Jamie and Jamie's well-being (as he does about all the lads). Ted's just genuinely a good person who cares about the majority of people, Jamie included!
The (terrible) advice he gives to Jamie always comes from a well-intentioned place. Like, I think Ted really believes he's bestowing vital wisdom upon him. It's just always...misguided. Because Ted does not actually know what works for Jamie or how to effectively help Jamie, despite thinking he does.
so much of this boils down to Ted's very real mental health struggles which are not his fault. However, I do wish the show had grappled with the potential consequences of his words/actions for others. Like... I would have loved for someone else (Beard) to find out what Ted told Jamie in Mom City and call him out on that being Terrible Advice. Because it's something the show never makes Ted reckon with and I find that annoying lol.
Jamie respects Ted as a coach and appreciates what he's done for Richmond. He just sees him as a coach/authority figure, not a dad.

Where California politicians stand on Palestine
The majority of Democrats in DC, despite their voter base being overwhelmingly in support of a ceasefire, refuse to disavow the genocide in Gaza or call for ceasefire.
They are able to do this, to disregard the outrage of their constituency, because they feel certain that no matter how many letters we send, we will show up and vote for them when the time comes. They are certain their actions have no consequences.
Senator Alex Padilla received about $31k from Israeli lobby groups. He refuses to call for a ceasefire. This was his going rate to enable genocide.
Senator Laphonza Butler was appointed in Oct 2023 after the death of Diane Feinstein, who was pro-Israel. No campaign finance info on file. She refuses to call for a ceasefire. Perhaps she's waiting for her payout.
12/52 California congressional representatives are Republicans. None have called for ceasefire. Palestinian genocide is core to the Republican platform.
Of the 40 Democrat representatives, only 11 have called for ceasefire. The following CA Democrat representatives have called for ceasefire. They were not swayed by money received from Israeli lobby groups.
Jared Huffman, 2 - not swayed by $1k from Israeli lobby groups this election cycle, down from 13.5k and 9.5k in the last two
John Garamendi, 8 - not swayed by $500 whole dollars from Israeli lobby groups, down from 5k and 15k
Mark Desaulnier, 10 - not swayed by $1k, down from 4k and 4.5k
Barbara Lee, 12 - not swayed by $13.5k, down from 27k and just 4k in 2020
Ro Khanna, 17 - not swayed by $12k, down from 45.5k and 23k
Judy Chu, 28 - not swayed by $1k, down from 7k and 10.5k
Tony Cardenas, 29 - not swayed by 35k, down from 70k and 38.5k
Jimmy Gomez, 34 - received nothing this cycle or 2020, not swayed by the $13.5k Israeli lobby groups gave in 2022
Robert Garcia, 42 - has received nothing from Israeli lobby groups since taking office in 2023
Maxine Waters, 43 - has received nothing from Israeli lobby groups in the past 3 election cycles
Sara Jacobs, 51 - not swayed by $9k, down from $26.5k in her first election cycle
The following CA Democrat representatives have refused to call for ceasefire. The approximate amount they've received from Israeli lobby groups since 2019 (the price it cost to buy their endorsement of genocide) is after each name and district number.
Mike Thompson, 4 (24k); Ami Bera, 6 (46.5k); Doris Matsui, 7 (9k); Josh Harder, 9 (159k); Nancy Pelosi, 11 (92.5k); Eric Swalwell, 14 (54.5k); Kevin Mullin, 15 (0 - 19-22 data missing); Anna Eshoo, 16 (34.5k); Zoe Lofgren, 18 (22k); Jimmy Panetta, 19 (14k); Jim Costa, 21 (127k); Salud Carbajal, 24 (27k); Raul Ruiz, 25 (24.5k); Julia Brownley, 26 (47.5k); Adam Schiff, 30 (205.5k); Grace Napolitano, 31 (8k); Brad Sherman, 32 (132k); Pete Aguilar, 33 (315.5k); Norma Torres, 35 (14.5k); Ted Lieu, 36 (122k); Sydney Kamlager, 37 (15.5k - 22 data missing); Linda Sanchez, 38 (36.5k); Mark Takano, 39 (17k); Nanette Barragan, 44 (69.5k); Lou Carrera, 46 (12.5k); Katie Porter, 47 (152.5k); Mike Levin, 49 (143k); Scott Peters, 50 (34k); Juan Vargas, 52; (208.5k)
The Republicans will be trash regardless, but we cannot let our Democrats skate by thinking there are no consequences for supporting a genocide. They are slaughtering people with your tax dollars, Americans. It's time to get serious. It's time to tell these people that they cannot have our votes for free. It's time to start talking about primary opposition and third party voting. It's time to start exercising our power as voting citizens.

^^^ from Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA-36)
In addition to being a US House member, Rep. Lieu is a retired US Air Force colonel.
News from hotly contested war zones is seldom clear until the dust settles. But based on past performance, the Kremlin usually has the credibility of George Santos.
Inside the Kremlin's Year of Ukraine Propaganda
One thing the Kremlin can truthfully take credit for is the “the firehose of falsehood” method of propaganda.
Ukraine made advances both north and south of Bakhmut about a week ago. That isn’t the sort of thing that is just done randomly. 😉
