DeGrazia said, “Not to know a rule in art and break it is bad art, but to know a rule and break it is good art. Only by knowing the rules and breaking them will one develop an individual style.”

This flower boy is one of DeGrazia’s most famous and popular images. We absolutely love the contrast of colors. #TedDeGrazia #DeGrazia #Ettore #Ted #Artist #GalleryInTheSunMuseum #Museum #Gallery #NationalHistoricDistrict #Nonprofit #Foundation #Adobe #Architecture #Tucson #Arizona #AZ #SantaCatalinas #Desert #OilPainting

Like most of DeGrazia’s oil paintings, this was done with a palette knife using very bold strokes.🎨

Following a regional tradition of building a chapel or shrine in thanks, DeGrazia’s goal was an adobe mission built from the ground up at the foot of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Marion DeGrazia said, “The desert was all his as far as the eye could see. There it was beautiful. It was quiet. He did not disturb the desert. He became a part of it.” Happy Throwback Thursday!

In the early 1970’s, DeGrazia created a series of astrological paintings, drawings, and essays. Many have requested that I share the series with you as the zodiac signs change so here is a photo of DeGrazia’s “Pisces”. Have a great birthday month! 🎏♓️
Our 2023 annual calendars feature all the oil paintings from the series “DeGrazia Paints the Signs of the Zodiac”. These pages can be matted and framed for those who ask about reproductions.
