The kid looked up. There was a girl watching them. People were passing up and down the street, and some of them walked between the kid and the girl, but she stood stock still and just stared at him. And at Maurice. She had the same nail-you-to-the-wall look that he associated with Peaches. She looked like the kind of person who asked questions. And her hair was too red and her nose was too long. And she wore a long black dress with black lace fringing. No good comes of that sort of thing.
--The Amazing Maurice And His Educated Rodents (Terry Pratchett)
auditions open for HVT's production of The Amazing Maurice & His Educated Rodents, staging in July! we're an amateur nonprofit and have previously done Monstrous Regiment (directed by me) and Mort.
This is a stand-alone novel set on Discworld. There are a couple different orders that the Discworld novels can be read, try checking out a reading guide, or just follow your heart!
If you are a fan of Discworld, Terry Pratchett, and animation (or even one or two of the three), then I highly recommend you support “The Amazing Maurice.” I just got back from seeing this movie, and it was so much fun. Not a 100% faithful adaptation of the book (though how could it be?), but close enough that the changes didn’t bother me or my sister.
Please, please support it. And stay til the end of the credits.
"If there is a Big Rat, and I hope there is, it would not talk of war and death. It would be made of the best we could be, not the worst that we are. No, I will not join you, liar in the dark. I prefer our way. We are silly and weak, sometimes. But together we are strong. You have plans for rats ? Well, I have dreams for them."
Recently I've read "The Amazing Maurice and his educated rodents" and, guys, why nobody warned me ?! I was expecting just funny take on Pied Piper from Hameln, I didn't know i would get debate about consciousness and self-control with one of the intensive moments in the series.
The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents for Day 2: "Scurry". I wasn't really planning on doing a Discworld-themed Inktober but the prompt list this year is very Pratchett-friendly so I guess I'll stick to that!
