some kind of. miscellaneous conversation sometime during ac3?? this was actually part of a much longer scene that went in a more serious direction than I originally planned once I started drawing it. I ended up starting over, but I couldnt bring myself to delete the pages I had already started (which is why the dialogue's a little janky bc I decided to redo it before I got to the lettering stage RIP) so I cleaned them up a bit to post :') get some sleep, desmond.

Concentration camps, endless border walls and concertina wire, and armed groups of fascists are not contradictions to a First World consumer culture of electric cars, Starbucks, and online shopping... these elements of the global commodity supply chain are co-constitutive and necessary elements of the for-profit system.

i desperately wish gw2 had more food-centric lore. i think about asura food more than is probably particularly reasonable. they're sort of implied to like molecular gastronomy in the lvl500 chef quests which is fitting and makes sense, but surely not every asura is eating bespoke Pea Spheres day in and day out right? i think my favorite angle on them is a sort of 50s-80s american-esque food style where there's a huge emphasis on things being Convenient and Scientific, so you'd get a lot of absolute slop tv dinners and canned items that have labels boasting how they were nutritionally fortified and contained your day's complete vitamin intakes and so on. a lot of jellied things. i do also fully believe they would have + eat soylent.

"C: Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?"
You couldn't fucking PAY me to write a coffeeshop AU. Love might be able to bloom on the battlefield, but it withers and rots in the foodservice industry.

I know Egon's spirit has passed on and all that
but imagine he was still hanging around (incorporeal though) with his family, playing chess with Pheobe, giving Trevor the tools he needs when fixing the car, giving Callie hugs and using tech to 'talk' to her, being annoying and making life inconvenient when they are trying to move because they forgot to pack up with spores, moulds, and fungi to bring to the firehouse
(god what I wouldn't pay for ghost egon to finally be able to punch dickless without much/any repercussions)

the thing about Dimension20 is that I even love it when they do things that i don’t particularly like
this includes art styles, story beats, or even potentially the premise/execution of an entire season
because if they only did things i liked, that would almost certainly mean they were playing it safe, watering things down to be as palatable to as many people as possible
but when there’s something there that just isn’t for me?
they took a swing. they experimented. they did something new
and even if you set aside what might be a miss for me might be a grandslam for someone else, I’d so much rather they took swings and missed instead of bunting the whole game
and you might be wondering why i’m posting this right before FHJY comes out
right after reblogging an intro that “owns my whole heart”
you can’t really judge a season before it comes out
so this might age poorly
i’m not worried about Junior Year. I won’t be surprised if i love it a little more than is healthy
But I need to acknowledge that everything I’ve seen thus far is the kind of awesome that you only get from a whole group of people challenging themselves, taking risks, and honing their craft
So i just want to say that I love Dimension 20, not in spite of the things that missed for me or the weird bits, but because of them. Because they are part of a whole. And from what i can see, all the risks and stumbles so far are paying off beautifully
