Welcome to 5llsmp, an experimental hardcore series– gets smacked
Right! Us Tumblr folk decided to get together and play some good ol' fashioned third life! Just with four lives. And a Boogeyman. But no life trade function.
The colour system is as follows.
Four lives- dark blue 💙
Three lives- green 💚
Two lives- yellow 💛
One life- red ♥️
Every time after we have a session, the players send me summaries of what happened, and I write it all up in an official statement! Some people recorded, so be on the lookout for little clips here and there! The official tag for this smp is #5llsmp, so check that out for the artwork, fanfiction, and other posts about our little game!
Well then, without further ado...
Session One
Your players:
Stiff (any) @stiffyck
Bee (she/they) @applestruda
Jay (she/they) @happy-hermit
Chem (he/they/it) @chemdisaster
Star (they/zie) @scarring-lust (18+)
Ed (he/byte/chirp/gore) @frootyloopy
Space (he/xe) @space-apples
Phil (he/zir/ghost/it) @aresonist
Wilm (he/they) @whilmsy
Melou (he/they) @melouthechalk
Zera (they/he) That’s me!
Elle (she/her) @periwinklemoonlight
Brandy (any) @brandyy0moss
5ievel (any) @5-fievel
Moth (he/him) @evenmoreevil
Admins:
Console- Wren @wren-pineapples
Playing- Zera (me again!)
The session starts off with a bang (more like a vine boom)!
Stiff runs off with Bee and Phil to gather materials before eventually running into Moth in the mountains! They decide to base together, creating the Lads of the Valley! Stiff then goes looking for water and meets Zera, and they both get distracted and go mining together.
Space and Wilm meet at spawn and decide to stick together, watching Chem take the enchanter and run off! They run off to the desert where they meet Zera at night. Space unfortunately dies to a husk, becoming the first green name of the server! Wilm then leaves Zera and goes back to spawn to find Space!
Zera immediately runs off in a random direction alone, and manages to find a village. They get an iron sword from the blacksmith! They briefly meet with Space and Wilm before mining some iron and getting everything set. They meet with Stiff and give him a diamond! They find sculk with Stiff and start mining it, but fall into lava and die. They then meet with Jay and decide to team, becoming the Boatem Birdies.
Chem is the first to mine the surface iron and run off with the enchanter! The boogeyman is chosen, and it ends up being him! He tries to make a plan for killing someone, and lies when Zera briefly passes by and asks if he’s the boogeyman. At spawn, Chem kills Wilm in what is described as the “most pathetic chase scene ever” where Wilm begs Chem not to kill him and Chem says they will cry if they don’t get the kill. Chem then goes to find a cave, names it “the pits of depression and self-loathing”, and allows Star to use the enchanter for sugar cane.
Star goes on a lone adventure, taking care to slaughter every living creature they see, with a special vendetta against the donkeys. They find a mineshaft and an enchanted book! They find Chem in a ravine and they meet up with Brandy for a bit! Star then goes on a hunt for moss and nearly dies.
Elle, staying true to her adventure loving self, basically stays in a cave all session digging clay for bricks. This is because Elle wants to build a house to fight Bee in.
5ievel and Ed stick together, calling themselves the Iron Guys. They briefly met up with Wilm, Brandy, and Elle and mined for a bit. 5ievel died to a creeper before rejoining the group briefly before going to the nether. The Iron Guys decide to base underground!
Space has died two more times, becoming the first and only red of the server.
Meanwhile, the Lads of the Valley are trying to get goat horns, spending about fifteen minutes with varying amounts of success before killing most, if not all, of the goats. Stiff dies by getting shot by a skeleton, and chats with Wilm after respawning before rejoining the Lads of the Valley.
The Boatem Birdies make a mini boatem pole with only two boats, before beginning to make a tower base. They become frenemies with the Lads of the Valley and discuss how screwed they are if one of the Lads becomes the boogey next session. Moth puts up a cobblestone wall between the Boatem Birdies and the Lads’ property, which Jay and Zera later take down. The Boatem Birdies attempt to make a peace treaty with the Lads with flowers, but Phil and Moth burn the flowers while Bee accepts.
The session has ended!
Life count:

Space- 1
Phil- 3
Wilm- 3
Melou- 4

I just finished The Prisoner's Thorne and I gotta say I really loved it. Oak and Wren where incredibly adorable and, oh the lounging between these two!! I like how they grow to understand what love truely is and I'm so relieved they got a happy ending, I hope we see more of them in future books but if not, thats what fanfic is for. I really like how Holly Black wrote both character's backstories and got into there psychology and that they can stand on there own as character's along with the other's.
I also like Tiernan and Hyacinthe romance, as well as the friendship between Oak and Trienan which made me laugh out loud so many times. And the Jude and Cardan moments where great too.
The romance, the sceaming, the magic and the family drama!! What's not to love.
Holly black writes some of my favorite fea books and Im so glad to have The Stolen Hier and The Prisoner's Thorne on my bookshelf, the way she writes is so beautifully enchanting and never fails to suck me into the story. 🍂❄🦊🐦

My party has been exploring a BloodHunter's Lodge that had been thought a ruin but, in fact, is currently under the control of one of (many) groups who would happily see us dead. Our ranger, a halfling named Wren, had been aged and possessed by the ghost of a powerful necromancer our friendly (undead) Bloodhunter, Marigold, killed before they passed away prior, so the ghost has quite the grudge against Marigold. Apparently, Marigold has some... feelings.. about the ghost and maybe Wren...
DM: Wren, I'm gonna let you try to make a will save on your next turn, see if you can get out from the ghost's possession. Marigold, you're up.
Marigold: Right. Everything is going to be non lethal, but let's do Crimson rite, and try attacking with both my swords.
*rolls*
Marigold: .... that's a nat 20. I'm going to use my inspiration to do max damage!
Zoe(Rogue) *while laughing*: Marigold is beating old lady Wren!
Marigold *laughing as well*: The power of Christ compels you!!
DM: You're using your fire sword right? As well as your enchanted silver? That does extra damage to undead?
Everyone: ooohhhh....
Marigold: ... yeah...
DM: That damage counts too. >:D
Wren: I'm sensing some underlying aggression here!
Marigold: I sorry!!! Uh.. x damage.. Marigold is literally beating Wren with their swords, setting her on fire and shouting "The power of Christ compels you!" *wham wham wham!!*
Wren: .... well.. I'm below 0 hp. This is elder abuse.
DM: Well... never mind Wren trying to will save. That's no longer needed.
Everyone cackling and various cries of elder abuse, while the rest of us deal with the ghost.
Marigold later: Oh! I was using d4s! I should have been using d6s for damage!
Wren: It's nice to know I would have been even more knocked out then I already was!
Marigold: I was holding back! Clearly I was holding back!
Wren: Oh yes, while setting me on fire and giving an old lady a concussion. Marigold and Wren are going to have a very long, serious talk about this later. Air out the clear tension that has suddenly come to light.
Marigold: I sorry!!! >-<;;;

9 Fandom Peeps to get to know better:
👉 3 Ships You Like: Rogue/Gambit from X-Men, Sahed/Julia from Marionetta, and Damien/Robin from Forever After (though that's only by a smidge over Tank/Robin and Tank/Robin/Damien).
👉 First Ship Ever: Rogue/Gambit, without doubt. I've shipped them for 32 years--since I was 11 yo! They're still my OTP of all OTPs, and set my 'type' for all my fave OTPs to come.
👉 Last Song You Heard: Rain Paris' rock version of American Horror Show
👉 Favourite Childhood Book: Like, children's books? Pokey The Puppy and She-Ra. Chaptered books? Nancy Drew series, The Saddle Club series, the Thoroughbred series, The Black Stallion and The Island Stallion series...ummm...Fear Street books, Christopher Pike books, Patricia C Wren's Enchanted Forest Chronicles... and so, so, so many more. I was a book-eater from 2nd grade on.
👉Currently Reading: Nothing at the moment. All my Webtoons are on hiatus, and I'm too scattered to get tied down in a fic or a book at the moment.
👉Currently Watching: X-Men '97. Fantastic show, 10/10 would recommend!!
👉Currently Consuming: Water. Really trying to be better about that!
👉Currently Craving: Nothing. I'm very content at the moment. I'm full, hydrated, relaxing into the evening, and blessedly left alone. Life is good:)
Tagging anyone who wants to!

With a poorly suppressed smirk, Wren produces a headband, attached to its top are a pair of what unmistakably are antlers, letting it rest nicely on Mongoose’s thick skull. As a finishing touch, she utters an enchantment and a small, soft red crocheted sphere lets itself known by grappling onto the tip of his nose.
She pinches his new nose twice, for good measure, then bolts off laughing.
The entire time Wren is conducting his new makeover, he stares flatly and unmoving. He can't very much protest, since he does owe her one.
Thinking the humiliation might end after the antlers (which...did she really have to SHOVE them onto his head like that?!), suddenly she adds the red nose...which he groans to find is slightly reminiscent of said tomatoes. He rolls his eyes as she pinches.
"Really, Wrennifer?"
Before more protests can be made known to Santa's little helper, off she goes again!

Shrub Club: episode 3
As promised, she has come bearing snacks and beverages. Or rather, she insists on helping with the garnishes and a few ‘taste tests’, while a few mutual friends of Deek carry out most of the work, such as setting up the small catering station and serving platters, adjusting the centrepieces and the food presentation. The house elves take great pride in their culinary magic, and Wren is left mesmerised by it every time without fail. A miniature picnic table is finely set with a tea kettle and a jar of syrup, accompanied by trays of fruits, cheese and seasonal fare. The main menu consists of Butterbeer and a blueberry pie, big enough to satisfy a party of four. Wren did hear @justaskmagnoliaellistor enjoys all things blueberries.
Tumblr media
She takes a slice and nibbles on it, scanning the area; the location is near perfection, with ample sunlight, good drainage and accessibility to the Herbology greenhouses, though the lack of proximity to water sources she finds mildly worrying.
Conjuring her notebook, in which having already briefed a list of magical elements she’d planned to incorporate, involving enchanted soil, lighting, and now adding irrigation enchantments, if applicable.
Wren scarfs down the slice of pie and marvells as arrays of wood and stone diligently slot themselves together like an intricate puzzle - the greenhouse already looks half finished, and the construction carries on swimmingly. Turns out @demetrius-haggarty is much more adept at spellcasting than he realises.
She sits back, her lap balancing her sketchpad, and worries if her efforts may be too ambitious. Bits of charcoal and worn pencils rattling as she unfurls each page. Colours bloom like stains on oil paint, edges of her vision sharpened, details now finer.
Tumblr media
Wren wants to plant a tree in the middle, Hawthorne (hehe), to grow wild and deep, belonging to no one but the soil beneath the ground base, and the dappled sky above. A dome is to be put in place, and it will be sheltering an even bigger world, with every unused space, they will fill with their own touches, the turning of seasons itself. The Extension Charm should do the trick.
Just as she scouts for any availability for walkways, or even additional features like seating areas or ponds. One minor detail sticks out regarding the layout of the greenhouse's dimensions: there is no glass.
“Well, that just won’t do. I wonder what are the chances of a glassmaking charm?” Wren ponders aloud, wondering if it’d be easier to up and transfigure a pile of sand into glass instead. That said, it wouldn’t hurt to try. She taps her chin, and looks out towards the lake, where the narrow, gently sloping land lies along its edge, an idea begins to surface. She wonders if @theodoradevlin would be willing for an experiment.
Her eyes flash with inspiration, it is brief. “What’s between beach sand and lake sand anyways?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wren’s notebook:
Climate control charms with heating, cooling, and humidity control to ensure optimal growing conditions.
Research and select plants that thrive in the chosen environment. Incorporate a mix of exotic, rare, and unique species, if one wishes. (Want to plant a pumpkin patch albeit unsure if Maggie would like that.)
Integrate both natural and artificial lighting to mimic day-night cycles, ensuring the plants receive adequate light.
Implement protective charms to keep magical plants safe from pests and potential intruders. Magical wards or enchantments can be used for additional security.
Maintenance Plan: a regular upkeep schedule for watering, fertilising, and pruning plants.
Decoration: sculptures, fountains, or artwork (?) a butterfly garden perhaps.
Ensure that safety measures are in place, such as emergency exits. Must include protective gear e.g. earmuffs or dragonhide gloves, to protect both the greenhouse and its occupants.

Birds of Nan Elmoth
Other bird and ecology posts in the Beleriand tag!
Written for @melestasflight
Nan Elmoth or the Valley of Stars was a deep forest East of Doriath and on the Eastern banks of the river Celon, a tributary to Aros which was itself a tributary to Sirion.
We can only speculate about the species of trees that grew here with the primary descriptor being that they block the sun. The climate and habitat is a deep, mixed deciduous forest with high moisture.
Note: I do have to give some license because of the enchantments, which means that the inspiration will take from real places, will not match exactly to the flora and fauna not that I’ve described here, but I’ve done my best, and I’ve done my best to include species that exist in deep forests, and not in open spaces, or at the very least live part time or migratory species in deeper forests.
I usually include world building notes on these post, so they’re not just me listing species but because there’s not a settlement or society here I wasn’t really sure what to do so I included world building notes for the Sindar more generally as well as nearby cultures, including Nandor and Avarin elves, I think all three have spent intermittent time in Nan Elmoth
I do not think that Nan Elmoth has a large amount of fauna because of its enchantments however there are species that have adapted to living there and in the surrounding regions. Most of these species are passerines who do not flock in large numbers. There are also species that do not exist in this world
Deep in the woods: chaffinch, hawfinch, pine grosbeak , common bullfinch, tawny owl, wood grouse, song thrush, common nightingale, hermit thrush
On the outskirts: northern parula, chestnut bunting, brambling, lesser redpoll, common nightingale, common wren
By the pool and in wetlands: rustic bunting, purple heron (migratory)
By the river banks: black faced bunting, common rosefinch, white throated dipper, common crane
Migratory: little bunting, northern wryneck, Bohemian waxwing (breeds in conifers), scaly thrush
World building notes:
-Nightingales, usually species of forest edges and clearings live in Nan Elmoth and have since Melian herself was there. Their song is lower than their kin in other regions and many feel it is more eerie, almost mournful.
-Birds that feed on yew berries and other species poisonous to elves and men are considered symbols of endurance and faith in some Sindar culture.
-The whistling cry of waxwings appears in Avarin music, often emulated through flutes carved from wood and reed.
-Rusting buntings are symbols of maternity and childbearing in some Avari and Sindar cultures
-It is told among the Avari of this region that thrushes and other songbirds guided them to find food in the faint dawn of their awakening.

Note
You exit the castle in a leisurely pace and follow the map displaying the cobbled path, passing the bridge to the Forbidden Forest and a curious trail at the left once you reached the familiar castle ruins.
The weather carries a pleasant chill, clouds drift by on the most relaxed of birdsongs and a playful breeze. As you approach the clearing, every colour comes into focus in the sun, a picture perfect lush green and equal parts grey to compliment the world you greet as you take flight. A familiar figure, perched onto a broom, hovers over the sea of wildflowers flourished in verdant strength.
Between us, you see a patchwork blanket is unfurled on the grass, upon lays a tablecloth adorned with an enchanted teapot, spreads of canapés, sandwiches and handmade berry preserves, along with an assortment of saucers, awaiting their guest.
Meeting your gaze, I give you an animated wave, balancing a particularly lively niffler on the other arm, munching a stolen scone.
“Felix! Over here!”
Felix soared through the air on his broom, his eyes feasting upon the breathtaking scene that unfolded before him. The vibrant colors of the wildflowers and the lush greenery of the clearing create a serene atmosphere that instantly puts him at ease. Spotting Wren perched on her broom, he waves back at her with a wide smile.
As he lands he is instantly drawn to the little, munching niffler. He gives the creature a gentle pat on the head, followed by a fondling of his neck, causing him to emit a contented purr-like sound.
"You've certainly found yourself an adorable companion there, Wren," Felix chuckled warmly, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
Felix' gaze then shifted towards the enchanting picnic spread that lay before them. His eyes widened in awe as he took in the sight before him. "This is truly magnificent, Wren," Felix exclaimed, his voice filled with genuine admiration. "Did you create all of this by yourself? I would have loved to help you if I had known."
