So in case you haven't heard, The Ghost and Molly McGee is over. For good.

And the crew of TGaMM are spilling the tea all over social media. Apparently, there was supposed to be a season 3. They even had scripts for episodes written up. BUT then Disney decided to cancel season 3 because they didn't like the numbers TGaMM was doing on Disney+.

I know The Owl House is dead and buried, so there's no point in beating a dead horse.

But still.

I know nobody listens to me but when I say "get those numbers up" I mean it. Could Disney learn their lesson? Probably not. Executives are stupid. They only know numbers and money. They don't understand art. They can see that something is popular, but they won't understand why it's popular and they'll make the wrong move.

If there's a show you like in the future, try to get their numbers up. Don't just watch it once. Watch it as many times as you can stomach. Don't just stream it. Buy a digital copy. Don't just get a digital copy. Get a physical copy if it's available. Don't just talk about it on social media. Buy their merch.

And if you're reading this and you're throwing your hands in the air going, "I can't do this. I don't have the money. You're asking for too much," just know it's not me asking for this. It's the networks. They want every show to be an overnight success. And not just an overnight success. A ballbusting, money making, cultural phenomenon of a success. And if not, they get canned.

Just compare the way they treat Phineas & Ferb and The Owl House.

And if you're not gonna listen to me then listen to Matt Braley's twitter. You guys like Amphibia, right?

Sorry, gang, but that's the way it is for all cartoons. Live action shows aren't held to that standard because it's cheaper to make. Animation is expensive and takes a lot of time.

I’ve had this in the back of my mind for a while but I think certain owl house and amphibia fans need to be more… normal? About other Disney TVA shows existing.

I’m not saying no one is allowed to be mad that toh got canceled or amphibia never got any proper merch, I’m mad too, but I keep seeing people’s anger over their favourite shows bleed into anger at other shows on the network for simply existing.

Like, I remember when the ghost and molly mcgee was accused of being the reason True Colours got pulled because it’s theme song happened to air that day.

I remember when the Witchverse- a show that only has a promotional poster to its name- got dragged on by owl house fans when it was announced because their show with witches got cancelled.

And I don’t need to remember people treating big city greens like its a soulless project that only exists to convince network executives that episodic cartoons should reign supreme because that’s the only time these people acknowledge big city greens exists.

And I’m seeing this happen again with Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur! Merch for the show got revealed a while ago- and by merch I mean a singular funko pop- and so much people reacted with resentment because toh and amphibia didn’t get merch. Never mind that MGADD’s merchandising is done by Marvel because it’s a Marvel show first and a Disney TVA show second, the fact that it had something toh and amphibia didn’t was enough to spark outrage from some people.

I’m not saying that everyone has to love every single one of these shows, but lately it feels like so many people want every new release to be treated as badly as the owl house was or have their episodes leaked like amphibia out of spite.

People need to stop pitting creatives and their passion projects against each other and start directing their anger at who’s actually to blame: the Network.

Are you watching it when it airs on Disney channel if you have cable the ratings where low last season , cause Disney sucks at marketing their animated shows. But we also have to watch it on Disney + on February 3 the most, and when they air it on YouTube. I’m not just saying only cable I’m saying please support this show. They are airing 2 episodes a week just like last season. Please watch the episodes when they air too.

Unfortunately they might be dropping 14 episodes on Disney + so watch them all in one day ,then but also when they air the first time. I’ve been told it will help Season 2 is going to be more story driven ,it’s at risk of getting canceled after 2 seasons,If the ratings arnt better. Especially on Disney + Disney is judging the show views on how many binge the show on February 3. Please don’t Disney screw this show over like the others.we need all the views we can get so help spread awareness of the series and what’s at stake here.

So unfortunately... idk how to tell you this OP... as much as I adore the show and I've made plans to purchase the funkos (after my several unrelated purchases)... I live in Canada and don't have cable.

And worst part is, for having Disney plus, shits useless as fuck, moon girl ain't even ON Disney plus. Not season 1, nothing. I look it up and the first result is the ghost and molly mcgee lmfaooo

"Use a vpn" I'm not gonna pay for a subscription again to watch 3 of 14 episodes in one sitting. I mean, if you have free vpn options I'd love to hear em but all the good ones seem to be paid sadly.

From August 21st 2023 to September 24th, 2023

I finally did it! This took me quite awhile to do because of schoolwork like I mentioned in the previous post, but I finally watched the amphibia season 2 finale! (And Polly got her legs!! - this is why I wanted to do this special piece in honor of mlaatr's 20th anniversary and amphibia's late 4th anniversary based on a scene from the first episode and pilot of the said show. Not amphibia, but mlaatr and the oh yeah cartoons 1999 pilot, but titled as my neighbor was a teenage robot)

Now again, I don't want to repeat this over and over again but I'll try, I'll really really try before November to watch the rest of amphibia! But for now, I've been hooked on bluey (It's such a cute show!!) so that's been why I've been too hesitant to watch more of amphibia. But again, I've been in more of an amphibia mood again so maybe I'll try to watch the rest of episode 4 of season 3 sometime this week ^^ And halloween is riiiiight around the corner, so it's never too late to watch the ghost and molly mcgee before October 31st, either! And since Xmas merch has been sold in stores that I go to now... maybe I'll skip ahead and watch the amphibia Christmas special without context sometime this week too mwahahahahahhh

So given Marcy's Journal and Art of DuckTales have had previews released now, what do you think of the previews? Do they give promise for both books? Does it make you hope they sell well enough to either get more Amphibia and DuckTales 2017 content or at least more lore books/art books based on Disney TVA series?

I can 't find them. But on the latter half obviously. I wouldnt mind comics continuations for either, especially now with their new deal with Dynamite means they have a monthly comics publisher again. On the terms of new content.. i'm iffy as Disney has shown time and time again they don't respect their children's animation content till it can make them nostalgia money, so while there's a VERY clear demand for comics contiuations or interquels for gravity falls, amphibia, ducktales or owl house, the odds of any of this happening is slim. I still hold out hope though for at least some and Frank and Matt DID have plenty of ideas for a season 4 that could be taken to comics. So new comic continuations (which wasn't mentioned but what the hell i'm on vacation), are iffy, but very possible if the demand is high enough. Lore books I feel are a bit more likely. While the shows left aren't exactly lore heavy yet (though ghost and molly mcgee does have a world to explore in the ghost realm, so maybe), it would be intresting to get more worldbuilding form these types of things for say GAMM or Big City Greens. They seem to be the only type of merch Disney regularly greenlights without any reservation or their usual stupidity. It's also very QUAINT talking about their usual stupidity after the ongoing HBO Max Dumpster Fire of 2020. Like... after putting up with so much horrible from WBD, i'ts nice to go back to Disney who can be downright awful, but are usually just frustratingly dumb.

As for Art Books, it's a coin flip. On the one hand, Disney has a VERY bad track record of underestimating this sort of thing and has only done so for their movies and what not. On the other the fact this exists itself is a good sign. While DuckTales is the only show they've acknowledged has multi-gen appeal half the time, it's also the first time they've done this. They HAD a gravity falls artbook ready, and likely still have all that stuff on file, and canned it for no reason, something I'd forgotten about till doing a google. So this MAY be a test run to see if people will buy these more often and if so we may get not only that Gravity Falls book, but also more. But they may also pull a disney and simply not do more because it was wet outside. I don't know. Disney can be entirely frustrating so it's a waiting game. I do think Amphibia has a high chance of it given both the shows massive sucess and unlike Owl House, Disney not being ashamed of it because their stupid. Either way i'm happy we at least got ONE fo rmy shelf that I intend to somehow get eventually, either via christmas or saving money or something and i'ts osmething previews or not i'm VERY excited for. I have Dark Horse's venture bros book and it's utterly gorgeous, giant and beautiful, and has been invaluable in my retrospective (Which for those watching still is happening the last few months have just been not great)

Tbh, I’m sorry to hear about TOH. I’m aware the show has problems and its fanbase can be non-reasonable and delusional, but sadly, a lot of fanbases are like that. I try my best to separate myself from fans and just enjoy something in its own right. And I think TOH has a lot of strong merits and has done a lot of good for animation even if it isn’t perfect, whether that be inherently or not inherently (fuck those execs for cutting the show short).

Point being, it truly sucks that most fandoms are self-righteous and just dumb lol. I wish we could enjoy content and not have to deal with the stupidity.

I think the fans just completely destroyed TOH for me to the point were I can't even watch the first season which is my favorite and I'm kinda waiting for all my owl house merch to sell out cause I dun even wanna give the fans anything. Sounds dumb and mean but what they are doing to other shows is so disrespectful. Commenting about TOH, blaming shows like Big city greens (which a very great show and was out before TOH aired) and to shows like Kiff and Harleys on it. It feels disrespectful to those creators

I will say it's so dumb why the show got canceled but the owl house isn't the only show suffering. I'm not entirely sure what's happening with the ghost and molly Mcgee but I heard it didn't get greenlit for a season 3 and it's upsetting. Same thing happened with other shows like Wonder over Yonder which is a fantastic show but remember that getting fuck over too. It sucks. And I hate TOH fans only think that's the only show that matters cause of Lumity when they are other shows with LGBT stuff in it. (eg. Geoff and Jeff, Sasha being Bi, Yunion and Olivia, in Moon Girl Casey's parents and even in the proud family had gay couple in there)

I do think The Owl house has done good stuff for animation but it's not the only show that does things we have plenty of amazing shows out there that isn't even Disney shows

UT regardless I'm just thankful the ghost and Molly Mcgee Fandom is so small we dun deal with ALOT of annoying stuff TwT but no matter what we'll always get some shit no matter what Fandom we're in

The book was set to come out on July 5.

Why we need more female lead cartoons with a all female cast.

Even though Winx Club goes down hill in the later seasons, I still appreciate it for being a all female lead cartoon in the early 2000s when most most female lead cartoons were just one girl and her male best friend and they would have a unnecessary relationship at the end of the show. I’m looking at you Kim Possible and My Life as a Teenage Robot except Jenny and Brad didn’t have a relationship with each other like Kim and Ron did. We still get female lead cartoons like these like Star Vs the Forces of Evil and it looks like The Ghost and Molly McGee is going to be one too. The show isn’t out yet as I write this post.

As much as I like Star Vs, and Molly McGee looks good we don’t need more female lead cartoons like those where it’s just one girl and her male best friend. We need more female lead cartoons where the whole cast are girls who are friends with other girls. The only time we get female lead cartoons with a all female cast is when they have a doll line like Monster High, My Little Pony and recently Rainbow High. Having female lead cartoons that sell dolls isn’t bad, some of the best female lead cartoons are the ones that are made to sell dolls. I like being able to own merch of shows I like, but this is the only time we get female lead cartoons with a all female cast.

The reason why we need female lead cartoons with a all female cast is to show the diversity and varieties of girls. It’s important to show there are different ways of being a girl and or to show different types of girls. My Little Pony Friendship is Magic does this really well. And it’s also important to show different types of girls being friends. That different types girls can be friends and get along well. My Little Pony Friendship is Magic also does this really well. Y’know girly girls being friends with tomboys, nerdy girls being friends with sporty girls and so on.

It’s important to show/teach girls that it’s okay to be with friends with other girls so they don’t end up hating girls and to show there are different types of girls. You know the whole ‘I’m not like other girls’ mentality. It wouldn’t exist if there was better representation of girls in media. The ‘I’m not like other Girls’ mentality comes from internalized misogyny and the lack of good representation of girls in media. Most girls in media are portrayed as vain, selfish, and dumb. They get killed off or have really bad things happen to them to forward men’s stories. This is why female lead media especially for young girls important. Girls are demonize hard in the media especially when they’re girly and feminine.

Winx Club wasn’t the only female lead cartoon in the 2000s with a all female cast and have female friendships. Other female lead cartoons like this is/were/are Totally Spies, W.I.T.C.H , Angel’s Friends, and not that long ago Lolirock and Mysticons. Mention it earlier but My Littlie Pony Friendship is Magic. Right now there’s both DC Superhero Girls shows. And you know what most of these shows have in common ? They’re all Magical Girl shows. That’s right folks, this is a stealth magical girls post.

Totally Spies kinda isn’t a magical girls show but I’ve seen people considering it as a magical girl show in the same way Miracle Girl Limit Chan is a magical girl show. Mysticons and My Little Pony friendship is Magic may not be intended to be magical girl shows but they fit what magical girls shows are. Same with DC Superhero Girls. I would definitely consider Equestria Girls to be a magical girl show. I haven’t mentioned it yet but Miraculous Ladybug is also a magical girl show.

Why magical girls ? Why am I talking about magical girls ? Western magical girl shows are one of the few times we get female cartoons with a all female cast and female friendships after female cartoons made to sell dolls/toys. To be fair most magical girl animes are made to sell toys. The magical girl genre does the whole all female cast and female friendships with different types of girls really well especially magical girl shows like Sailor Moon and Precure. You want to see tomboys and girly girls being good friends Precure and Sailor Moon got you covered.

I’m not completely saying magical girl shows are the answer to more female lead cartoons but you want more female lead cartoons with a all female cast and has the importance of female friendships than magical girl shows are what you’re looking for. Or cartoons with a doll line. Magical girl shows are basically what people want when they talk about making female lead cartoons for girls like Lauren Fast for example. The type of female lead cartoons Lauren wants to make are very close to the magical girl genre. My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and the DC Superhero Girls reboot are very close to magical girl shows. Lauren Fast wants to make female lead cartoons to empower girls and the magical girl genre was made to empower girls.

Although not every magical girl show is made to empower girls. Some of them have problematic elements and some aren’t even made for girls and those are the dark edgy magical girl animes. Those are made for adult men which is a problem cause the magical girl genre was made for girls. It’s okay for guys to like magical girl shows but they shouldn’t be made the target audience. Girls already barely have stuff for themselves. But there should be female lead cartoons for both girls and boys, there just needs to be more female lead cartoons for girls.

There aren’t many magical girl shows out right now both western and anime. Sailor Moon just got a movie. Precure is still around. Tokyo Mew Mew is coming back but besides that there isn’t many magical girl animes out right. With western magical girl shows most of them have ended or been cancelled Miraculous Ladybug is one of the few western magical girls out right now but there are alot of comics especially web comics. There’s Adorned by Chi is a comic but it’s like a western manga. It’s also a clothing/life style brand. There’s Magical Girl Institute which is still in development. There’s Princess Love Pon, Sleepless Domain and many more.

How do we get more female lead cartoons with a all female cast ? By supporting female cartoons and female lead media that are out right now. There’s The Owl House, and Amphibia both on Disney channel and they’re really good. There’s Molly of Denali on PBS Kids, its really great. There’s the My Little Pony reboot. There’s Miraculous Ladybug, I love it but it has alot of problems so I understand if you don’t want to support it, plus its so popular it doesn’t need support. It’s not out yet but there’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur on Disney. Supporting old female lead cartoons also helps.

There’s alot of girl dolls/toys lines with cartoons. DC Superhero Girls and Rainbow High are the only female lead cartoons with a all female cast but the problem with Rainbow High is that it almost has no diversity especially in the main cast. All of the shows I mention earlier are divers and star girls of color. People had to beg MGA for diversity in Rainbow High. If they haven’t beg, Krystal would’ve been white instead of black. Like how you gonna have a doll line and a cartoon with no diversity in 2020/2021 ? Not even a token black girl. A token black girl I could understand but to straight up having no diversity in the main cast in this day and age is wrong. It’s a shame cause Rainbow High has some of the best dolls out right and the cartoon is really good.

The best way to support female lead cartoons is to watch them legally and buying their merchandise if they have it. Buying T shirts, toys, dolls, funko pops and DVDs helps supports those shows. Talking about them on social media also help. It spreads awareness about it.

In conclusion we need more female lead cartoons with a all female cast to show variety of girls and to have representation of girls. And the best way to get more female lead cartoons like that is to support other female lead cartoons. No more female lead cartoon where its just one girl and her male best friend. Make more magical girl cartoons.

i don’t think lumity is why TOH got cancelled

at the risk of having the fandom jump down my throat, i just wanna say-- i don’t think we should blame TOH “not fitting the Disney brand” ENTIRELY on Lumity

this is gonna be long so inserting a read more here

don’t get me wrong! i’m sure Dana Terrace’s relentlessness in fighting for queer main characters was a contributing factor. however, and i say this as both a Lumity shipper and a queer person myself, the TOH fandom has a nasty habit of putting on blinders for everything in the show that doesn’t involve Lumity also amity generally but the fandom’s lowkey racism isn’t today’s topic lol

so! my reasons as to why i believe it isn’t entirely Lumity/homophobia that got TOH booted is that 1) Terrace said it herself that it wasn’t the queer themes. could she be lying due to an NDA or the already shaky fate of s3? yes, however, i’m inclined to believe her. 2) the decision to cancel after s3 was apparently made “before Agony of a Witch premiered”, which means the only openly gay thing that had happened so far was Enchanting Grom Fright. i don’t know if canon Lumity had been confirmed/approved at that point so if it wasn’t, it wouldn’t have factored into the decision. 3) Disney is trying hard to capitalize on the LGBTQ community right now. sure they’re homophobic in the ways that matter but you can’t deny that they are trying very hard to make us spend money on their movies with constant “FIRST GAY CHARACTER!!” talk. faux progressiveism is where the majority money seems to be right now, for better or for worse. Lumity might be taking it further than they like, but i think they know the queer fanbase is desperate to spend money on merch and Bob Iger LOVES profit

now, i’m sure many of you are wondering “well if it wasn’t Disney’s homophobia that made them claim TOH didn’t fit the brand, what did?” i’ve got some guesses. first off, let’s look at the reasons Terrace gave. 1) the series is too serialized. i think there’s some weight to this claim. while Amphibia is also very serialized, it has enough episodes unrelated to the overarching plot that Disney can air without alienating new viewers. most TOH episodes that air regularly are from s1, which Terrace has said before doesn’t align with her vision as much and are less serial. so having shows with episodes that they can play whenever with no context is preferred by Disney. again, this claim that a serialized narrative doesn’t fit the Disney brand seems to make sense. 2) the audience skews older. this is a real issue for many cartoon creators working with major networks these days. most notably, Owen Dennis claimed that Cartoon Network cancelled Infinity Train because it was shifting its focus to adults and there was no entry point for children. TOH’s equal focus on developing Eda as much as Luz might have ultimately hurt it. this could also explain why Ducktales 2017 got the boot, as i believe the creator has mentioned that Disney was always unhappy when they wanted to make episodes that focused solely/majorly on Scrooge and other adults. and lastly... 3) COVID-19 and the need for budget cuts. let’s face it folks... TOH has always been Disney’s least favorite. it hasn’t had any Theme Song Takeovers (when its sister show Amphibia has had 3), Chibi Tiny Tales, OR been featured in Broken Karaoke. however, The Ghost and Molly McGee already has 2 Chibi Tiny Tales and it just premiered. yes, King got featured in Chibi Tiny Tale, but that cameo lasted like three seconds. yes we got “Owl Pellets” and “Look Hooo’s Talking” but compared to Amphibia and Big City Green’s many shorts (aka the other main animated shows airing alongside TOH), it’s nothing. TOH was always doomed to be the martyr.

For Amphibia merch well i hope we get some books like Big City Greens and The Owl House ones just to test and maybe just maybe in a near future guide books like The Magic Book Of Spells and Journal 3 and official Sprig Plushies on Disney Stores or at least give us a ,Magicband at the Disney Parks with some early PNG Key Art like they did with Gravity Falls, the sad thing is if you're not a Disney Junior Show (WAIT HECK EVEN Disney Junior Shows only get 1 year of merch) chances of getting official merch are 10% let's hope The Ghost And Molly McGee, Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur changes everything with its trademarked merch

gcwca secret santa here!! sorry abt the merch question!! can’t remember what i said in my last ask, i think it was that i was super mad when they mad jake cheat lol i loved him and miley together. super great enemies to lovers content. new question: are there any disney channel/ dove cameron projects coming up that you’re excited about?

all good!! like i said, no way you would’ve known. no problem at all.

they were great!! you also mentioned needing to do a rewatch which im also long overdue for. i did a l&m rewatch this year which was my first full show rewatch so now its only a matter of time until i do a hm one.

im excited for the new christmas dcom coming out next year bc its being made by andy fickman and betsy sullenger who were executive producers on l&m!! the ghost & molly mcgee looks cute. and ill watch the under wraps remake but ive never seen the original, ill probably watch it before the new one comes out. the cast seems really good tho, i really like christian j. simon.

as far as dove, im super excited for her apple tv project that doesnt have a name yet. like a musical series with a big cast of musical people PLUS her?? im gonna love it for sure. also i think her character is involved with a guy named josh which will be the THIRD time shes played a character involved with a guy named josh lmao (the other two being maddie and cher). shes working on like a thriller/horror type film called issac that i wouldnt really say im “excited” for cuz that kinda genre isnt really my thing but like ik shell be great and shes really hot in the trailer. and im super excited for more music from her!! hopefully an album eventually!!
